Sinister Motives
So sorry for the lengthy break, was moving and getting settled into our new house. Aaron and his apprentice visit their associates and plot to overthrow the king and Jade spends the day with Ash.
Aaron flew over the treetops of the forest, flying low and landing in a small clearing away from the castle. He looked around, waiting. It wasn't long before another figure flew down and landed in front of him. The young demon was a male with brown hair and blue eyes with brown wings, he was Aaron's apprentice and his name was Oraz. Oraz was an orphan, his parents were killed when he was young and he'd lived on the streets till the person he now worked for approached him with an offer to work with him in exchange for some of the gold of the kingdom. Oraz had agreed and here he was now.
"Were you followed?" Aaron demanded, narrowing his own blue eyes at his young apprentice. Oraz shook his head. "No, master."
"Good." the council-man said and lifted his hand, black energy surrounding his hand as a portal of black energy was formed in front of them. The two entered the portal and it closed up, leaving the clearing empty like no one had been there to begin with.
The portal appeared in the office of a man and he sat at his desk, looking up when the portal materialised in front of him and two winged demons stepped out, the portal closing with a pop. "Gentlemen, welcome." the man greeted his guests with a smile. He wore a white lab coat and had dark rimmed glasses over his green eyes. He had grey hair and tanned skin, his name was Will, the head scientist here at the lab.
Aaron and Oraz nodded to the man, they had met him a few weeks ago when Aaron and Oraz had created a portal and it took them to Earth where them met Will and his crew who worked at a lab for dinosaurs.
Will jumped off the chopper just as it landed and the man surveyed the burning building on Isla Nublar, his blue eyes welling with tears, everything was gone, the lab, his brother Max, all of it was gone. He fell to the ground and cried for his brother, his body shaking with sobs. He looked up and gazed at the fire, the hatred he felt coursed through his body like hot lava and he slammed his fist down on the dusty ground. When he found out who was responsible for this, he would make them pay dearly for it!
He didn't need to wait long as one of the scientists who had been at the lab and left by boat before it had exploded came to him, it was the woman Sara, one of Max's scientists and who had been ordered by Max to scout the island by boat before the whole place had gone up in flames. She had been shocked by the massive inferno and approached Will, explaining that the cause may have been from the woman his brother had drugged and brought back, along with the four assets and little brat he had experimented on.
All Sara knew was that she, Max, Jake and another woman named Ally had found out the child and four assets had escaped the other lab and found them in Surrey, where they were living with a woman named Jade. They ambushed the house the woman lived in and tried to take the child, but Jade had followed and demanded that Max let the child go, but in her distraction, she'd been drugged by Jake and was taken to the island, where she was injected with raptor blood.
When Sara returned to the building, there was nothing left and she hid behind a tree, baring witness to a dragon, black as the night sky, landing in front of the burning building and then a velociraptor, pale in colour with silver stripes running down its body emerging from the forest, the light of the fire making it easier to see and it collapsed to the ground, blurring back into the woman that Max and Jake had drugged, revealing the woman was now a velociraptor.
So now Will had a name for the woman who had killed his brother and the scientists at the lab and caused it to blow up. He sent out more men to find them and they never returned, suggesting they had been killed by Jade. Then they disappeared off the face of the earth five years ago, never seen or heard of again. But Will had not given up on his revenge for his brother. The scientists at his lab had successfully made a hybrid dinosaur. Made from the DNA of the Indominus Rex, a hybrid dinosaur that was made for Jurassic World.
(For any confusion, after the lab was blown up by Jade, the remains were torn down and a new lab was constructed that was later the main lab for Jurassic World that opened a year later to the public. The Indominus Rex was the first hybrid that was set to be featured as a new attraction when it got loose and started killing other dinosaurs and people that tried to contain it. It was killed when the Mosasaurs leapt up from its lagoon and dragged the hybrid down, drowning it. It's DNA was collected by Will and his team and they brought it back to their lab. It was fused with the DNA of a velociraptor and the DNA of a Stygimoloch. Please don't be angry with me.)
The hybrid was named the Indoraptor, and some of its blood was collected. Will decided to inject himself with the blood of the Indoraptor, successfully becoming the hybrid dinosaur. The original Indoraptor was kept underground in the facility. Since then, he has remained in his lab facility on the coast of Miami, away from people.
One day while he had been walking through the chopper bay, a portal had opened up in front of him, startling the man as two winged people with pointed ears stepped out of the portal. Will stared at them, his eyes becoming gold and slitted as his nails became talons. "Who the hell are you?" he demanded, eyeing them warily as a growl rose from his throat.
The winged man with grey hair and blue eyes with dark grey wings stepped forward. "Who and what are you?" the man questioned. Will growled louder, a warning to stay back. "My name is Will and I am a scientist, this is my lab facility. Who and what the hell are you two?"
"I am Aaron and this is my apprentice, Oraz, we hail from a kingdom called Shadow-Hall. We are demons. May we know where we are?"
Will's talons became nails as his golden reptilian eyes went back to his normal blue. "You are in my lab in Miami on Earth."
"Ah, so that is where the portal brought us." Aaron said as Oraz stepped out to stand beside him. And that day was the day when Will made two new accomplices from another world.
"What news do you bring me, gentlemen?" Will questioned.
"We have found out the King has another child, a daughter. The same one you have been looking for." Aaron revealed, causing Will's green eyes to widen in shock. "She's alive and the bitch is royaly?"
"Yes, and the child you have been looking for is with her." Oraz added. Will grinned. Perfect, now he knew where they were, time to extract some revenge. He looked down at the watch, the one Max had given to him as a birthday gift the last time they saw each other before the lab was blown up. "Your revenge is coming, brother. I'll make sure the bitch dies."
"When do we strike?" Will questioned.
"The ball celebrating the unity between Shadow-Hall and Hill-Haven will be happening tomorrow night. I will bring you to the castle and we will strike then. You can have your revenge." Will smirked sadistically, happy his revenge would be finally happening.
Aaron and Oraz smirked. "Soon, Volaris, you will regret the day everyone chose you to rule when it should have been me."
The next morning, Jade woke up and yawned, rubbing her tired eyes. Then the memories of yesterday flooded her mind and she smiled. Looking over to her left, she saw Riley was still fast asleep, curled up under the blankets of the double bed. Carefully sitting up without waking her daughter, the woman stretched her limbs to get the blood flowing again and got up to use the bathroom attached to the bedroom. When she came out, she wandered over to the bed and gently shook Riley's shoulder. "Riley, Snowflake. Time to get up."
Riley's blue eyes fluttered open and focused on her mother with a yawn. "What time is it?" she asked, rubbing her eyes as Jade smiled at her. The silver haired woman looked out the window at the sun that slowly rose into the sky. "From what I can see, about 7 or 8 in the morning." she answered. Riley slowly sat up, yawning again as Jade hugged her.
Their stomachs growled hungrily and Jade had a craving for raw meat. "Wanna go hunting?" she asked Riley, who nodded eagerly. They hadn't gone out hunting for a few days and both of them were craving raw meat, such as the price with being a velociraptor.
Shadow chose that moment to wake up and he yawned, revealing his sharp teeth before he stretched out his body, bounding over to his sister and niece to greet them. "Good morning, Jade and Riley. did you both sleep well?" the Night Fury warbled to his sister, who smiled and hugged him around the neck.
"Morning, buddy. Yes, we slept well. We'll be gong out hunting this morning. Your free to join us if you like." Jade knew her brother liked to hunt when she and Riley went out hunting.
"Sure, I'll join you both this fine morning." Shadow crooned.
Jade brushed her long hair and retied it before she tied up Riley's hair and both mother and daughter left their bedroom with Shadow trailing them and headed down the hall hand in hand. As they walked, Aaron, the council-man from yesterday was coming from the other hallway and Jade quickened her pace with Riley, making sure her daughter was behind her as Shadow came up to stand beside his sister. He narrowed his green eyes at the male and snarled softly as they passed.
Aaron smirked as he passed the woman, her child and that dragon. It was a good thing he had taken a bath when he and Oraz had returned from their trip to Earth, since Will had warned them that velociraptors had incredible senses of smell. So when he and his apprentice had returned, he had ordered Oraz to go have a bath and he had taken one himself. So now he smelled nice and clean and wouldn't have the woman become suspicious of him.
Jade, Riley and Shadow were walking down another hall when Firo, Aydia and Volaris appeared around a corner and spotted the trio. "Jade, Riley, Shadow. Good morning." Volaris greeted his youngest daughter, granddaughter and dragon. "Oh, good morning, Sire." Jade greeted respectfully to the King. He nodded to her as Firo and Aydia waved good morning to them.
"Where are you three off to?" Volaris questioned.
"We're going out hunting." Riley answered with a smile. The King, Prince and Princess stared at them. "But breakfast is being served in the dinning room." Firo stated. "I know, but Riley and I have a craving for raw meat. We'll be back soon." she assured them they would be fine and walked down the hall with Riley and Shadow. Volaris, Firo and Aydia watched them leave before they headed for the dinning room to eat breakfast.
Jade, Riley and Shadow exited the castle and headed for the woods when Ash appeared. "Oh, Lady Jade, lady Riley?" the two turned to face the young blacksmith as she walked up to them. "May I ask where you are going this early in the morning?" Ash inquired curiously.
Jade winced inwardly, Ash didn't know that she and Riley could shift into raptors and she wasn't so sure about letting the woman know their secret. "Just going for a walk, Ash. We'll be back shortly." Jade explained. Ash eyed her, raising an eyebrow at the silver haired woman as she and Riley turned and headed for the woods. She knew Jade was hiding something and while she didn't know the woman very well, she could tell that Jade didn't trust her yet, so she would leave her be. Shrugging her shoulders, she turned and headed for her blacksmith shop to cut out a design for Jade's new swords and show her once she returned.
Riley, her mother and dragon uncle entered the trees and walked a fair distance before she and her mother shifted into their raptor forms and took off into the trees as Shadow sniffed around for a lake and once he found one, he started to fish for trout and cod, his favourite fish.
The pale raptor screeched happily as she raced through the forest of Shadow-Hall, leaping over fallen logs and trees. Riley kept pace with her easily, the orange raptor chittered to her mother and the pair kept going, slowing to a trot as their noses picked up the scent of an animal not far from them.
(This next part is based on the hunting scene from Jurassic World Domination where Blue takes Beta out hunting. I hope no one minds.)
Jade spotted a nice-sized rabbit and chittered softly to Riley, who joined her mother and they slowly stalked towards the animal. Riley looked up at her mother. "Not yet," Jade told her softly, chirping as she watched the rabbit graze. Just as Riley was about to pounce, the rabbit was snatched up by a animal that looked like a wolf with black fur and red markings on its body and the fur around its neck was a bit longer, but she couldn't tell. Furious that her prey had been killed, Riley screeched and charged forward. "Riley, wait!" Jade screeched, but it was too late as Riley pounced on the animal that resembled a wolf, taking the animal by surprise as it yelped from the sudden surprise of the predator, howling in pain as Riley bit down hard on its neck and used her claws and talons to wound it until it died.
Riley bit into the animal's neck as Jade walked over, talons flexing. "I told you to wait." she hissed to her disobedient daughter. The orange raptor chirped at her mother. "But it took my food." she protested.
"That doesn't give you the right to disobey my orders!" Jade screeched angrily to her child and Riley ducked her head, stepping away from the dead animal. "I'm sorry, mum." Riley apologised and Jade couldn't stay angry at her, she walked over and nuzzled Riley gently. "I know. I'm sorry too."
The trees shook and the two raptors turned as Shadow emerged from the trees, having gone fishing and eaten his fill. "Is everything alright here?" he questioned, looking between the two raptors and the dead animal that lay not far from them.
Jade snorted. "Yes, everything is alright, Shadow. Just a little lesson on patience." she explained to her brother, walking over to the carcass and beginning to eat as Riley joined her, the two raptors eating their fill as Shadow took a flight over the forest.
Sometime later, Jade and Riley emerged from the forest, happy and satisfied with their meal. They had cleaned up before returning to the castle, as Jade knew it would scare the shit out of anyone who saw her and Riley with blood around their mouths. Jade wrapped an arm around Riley's shoulders and the 11 year old smiled up at her mother as Shadow flew down and landed beside them, nuzzling them in greeting.
Walking into the courtyard of the castle, they saw Volaris, Firo and Aydia heading out of the castle and Jade waved to them. They spotted her and Riley and waved back. "How was it?" Aydia asked as she and Firo wandered over to their younger sister and niece.
"Good. We saw an animal that resembled a wolf, but I wasn't sure if it was a wolf or not." Jade described the animal that had taken down the rabbit she and Riley had been stalking. "Ah, that is a Shadow-wolf." Firo answered.
"Shadow-wolf?" Riley questioned, tilting her head.
"Yes, shadow-wolves are like the timberwolves from the Everfree Forest, only these wolves are black with red markings on their fur and the fur around their necks are longer. They can teleport using the shadows of trees and logs and or course hunt in packs. Oh and they are poisonous if they bite you." Aydia explained.
"I'm sorry, what?" Jade yelled, green eyes wide in shock.
Firo and Aydia jumped at her yell, not expecting her to shout like that. "Their venom is highly dangerous and if you were bitten multiple times, you can die from them." Firo said grimly, causing Jade to realise just how lucky Riley had been when taking down the shadow-wolf and escape being bitten.
"Jesus christ." Jade said in shock as she stared at her daughter.
"What happened out there?" Aydia asked, looking from Jade to Riley.
"I kind of took one down while we were out hunting." Riley confessed sheepishly.
"You took one down?" Firo questioned Riley. "Yeah, it killed the rabbit mum and I were stalking and I go lectured for not listening to mum."
Firo and Aydia stared at one another, sharing a look of shock. Jade and Riley had encountered a shadow-wolf in the woods and Riley had taken one down without being bitten! "You two are so lucky it was just the one. Sometimes shadow-wolves hunt on their own. Had you and Jade encountered a pack, you both would have been in major trouble." Aydia cautioned them. "Just be very careful when you go out hunting."
"We will." Jade promised, pulling Riley closer to her body, silently thanking whoever was watching over them that Riley wasn't bitten by that shadow-wolf that she took down in her rage over the rabbit being killed by the black furred wolf.
Then ash reappeared and upon spotting the three adults and young child, headed over to them. "Lady Jade, lady Riley, how was your walk?" she asked as she stopped a few feet from the group. Jade smiled. "It went well, thank you."
The young blacksmith smiled. "Well, if you are free, my lady, I have some idea's for your new swords if you want to have a look and decide which one you like."
Jade looked interested. "Of course. Want to come with me, Riley, Shadow?" she asked. as much as she wanted to spend more time with Firo and Aydia, she wanted to see how Ash had done. "Let's go, mum." Riley said gleefully and Shadow warbled in agreement.
The Snow Queen looked at her older brother and sister. "If we leave early, we can still spend time together. Does that suit you two?"
The Prince and Princess smiled. "Of course, we need to do some royal duties anyway. So have fun." Aydia said with a grin as she and Firo left Jade, Riley, Ash and Shadow alone.
"Follow me." Ash led the way towards her forge, which wasn't far from the castle. Jade could feel the heat coming from inside the shop and stopped. "Sorry Ash, but I can't go any further lest you want me to collapse from heat exhaustion." she warned the black haired woman with blue wings and eyes. Ash smiled, understanding Jade's predicament with heat. "May I ask why you would overheat so easily?"
Jade then realised that she hadn't explained her ice magic to Ash. "It's because I have ice magic, I can control the element of winter and if I'm near an open flame, I can collapse from heat exhaustion."
"Ah, so that's why." Ash said, grabbing some papers from her desk and walking back over to Jade, making sure to turn the heat down in her fire. "I turned the heat down, is that better for you?"
Jade stepped inside the forge, while the heat was still on, it was considerably lower than when she first felt the heat before. "Yeah, it's better. Thank you." Riley and Shadow followed Jade inside the forge and Riley looked around in awe at the many swords and bows that lined the walls. "Wow, you made all these?" the teen asked.
Ash smiled. "Yes, I did."
"That is very impressive." Jade commented on the work done with the bows and swords. "Thank you both." Ash said gratefully, placing the papers down on the desk and spreading them out. Jade saw they were sword designs. "I drew a few to see if you liked any of them. If not, I can draw up one."
"These are very well done." Jade commented, picking up one paper design and studying it. The sword design was a simple one and she shook her head for that one. She looked over the other designs before reaching the last one, this design was different. For one thing, all the other designs had the sword blade straight, where's this one was curved at the top, not overly curved like that of a katana sword or samurai sword.
This design had the bottom of the sword curved as well and the hilt was slightly curved to the left. "What made you draw this one?" Jade asked.
Ash looked at the design and smiled, she figured Jade would like that one. "I just thought you might like a sword that isn't straight, so I came up with this design, the blade is curved at the top for better angles and the hilt is curved to fit the wielders grip." Ash explained. Jade stared at the design, she liked it.
"I like this one." she said and Ash grinned. "Perfect. Did you want some symbols etched into the blades?"
"What kind of symbols?" Jade asked.
"Any you want."
Jade looked at the designs and then looked at Riley before she took the pencil from Ash and began to draw a Celtic braid, specifically, the spiral Celtic knot, which from what she read in books, was meant to symbolise eternal life and the three knotted sides were for Earth, Fire and Water. "I've never seen that symbol before." Ash said, looking at the drawing.
"Of course you haven't. This symbol is Celtic and stands for eternal life, these three sided knots stand for Earth, Fire and Water, which are the forces of nature. This line is continuous and represents the oneness of spirit and unity." Jade explained the symbol to Ash. "The whirls of the spirals here stand for the gaps between life, death and rebirth." Jade said, pointing out the details of the symbol.
"So you would like this symbol etched into your swords?"
Jade nodded. "And maybe this one." she began to draw a Sailor's Celtic Knot. "Now this symbol is a Sailor's Celtic Knot, which means that sailors created it while they were at sea for weeks at a time back in the old days. They would create these knots in their spare time as a way of remembering their family and loved ones. It's said that the strength of this knot represents the strength of a bond between family." Jade explained the meaning of the other symbol she drew, thanks to reading up on Celtic symbols when she was on Earth before she came to live in Equestria.
Ash looked at the two drawings, in awe about their meaning. She had never heard of symbols like the ones Jade had drawn, but now that she knew, she was fascinated. "And where would you like them?"
Jade looked at the sword design and pointed to the bottom of the sword, where the hilt met the metal of the blade. "Could you have both of them beside each other with my initials and Riley's too, and have a symbol of Shadow too." she began to draw Shadow's dragon symbol and smiled, then added her initials J.H, then R.H.
Ash took the paper and began to add the symbols where Jade wanted them. She put the Celtic symbols at the bottom of the sword and then put Jade and Riley's initials above them, then Shadow's Night Fury symbol. She showed it to Jade, who grinned at the design. "What do you think, guys?" she showed the picture to Riley, who gasped in awe as she saw her initials drawn onto the blade of the sword in the picture. "Wow, thank you, mum."
Shadow was very honoured to have his symbol on there. "I would add the raptors too, but I think that's too much. I hope they don't get offended." Jade said as Ash etched out the details of the swords. Once she was done, she handed the paper to Jade.
The Snow Queen was awestruck by the drawing, the sword hilt was slightly curved to the right and the two Celtic symbols were drawn beside each other with her and Riley's initials above the symbols and then Shadow's Night Fury symbol above their initials. "It's perfect!" Jade smiled.
Ash was happy Jade like the design. "Alright, let's start by melting down your old sword and get to work on moulding the metal." she went over to where Jade's sword was and put it in the melter as she called it and turned up the heat. Jade stepped outside as the forge heated up and she squinted to see Ash in the forge. Riley stood beside her with Shadow and they watched Ash work.
That chapter is done. Finally, after weeks of not updating, it is finally here. I got the idea of the Celtic symbols and goggled them, adding Jade and Riley's initials and Shadow's dragon symbol. I hope you all like this chapter. More will be coming soon, I promise.
