Jaune again woke up early. He could hear that it was raining heavily outside and that today would not be the day for an early morning run through the grounds. He decided that he could do with a mug of coffee and went into the kitchen. He was slightly surprised to see Brede, Planchet, Weiss, TC and James Norris already there.

Brede said, "Ah, Jaune. We were hoping that one of your team would join us. Planchet will now start a breakfast and I would be grateful if you could arrange for your team to join us in twenty minutes. There is something which we need to discuss with everyone on all four teams. Weiss, James, and I will do the same for our teams."

TC poured Jaune a mug of coffee. "I assume you came in for this, old boy."

Jaune looked at the Faunus and smiled. A Faunus calling a human Mistralian "boy" had a certain sense of mischief to it and disguising it as an aristocratic Atlesian affectation gave it plausible deniability.

"Thank you, TC. Will do, Brede."

He went back to the dorm and roused his team. They were curious about what it was all about. Still as they only had twenty minutes to wait and needed to get dressed they did not bother speculating.

They were the first full team to arrive and as on the morning after initiation Planchet and TC were attending to the cooked breakfast. Ren mixed some batter for pancakes afterwards. They were offered a choice of coffee or cocoa and some orange juice to be going on with.

Next up were Blair and Ruby. Ruby looked excited and Blair was nervous. Ruby said, "Yang is still brushing her hair and Weiss is making certain that she will be along in a couple of minutes."

Teams SFRN and LLAC arrived together. Julia looked slightly annoyed, and he wondered why. Finally, Weiss and Yang arrived. Yang said, "Fine, Brede. I'll take Weiss's word for it that it needs to be said."

Planchet and TC placed dishes full of sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs, fried mushrooms (with mustard), toast and fried bread on the communal table. TC said, "Eat up and then we'll talk."

Jaune did not object to being able to concentrate on breakfast. The valet and the Lynx Faunus may not be gourmet cooks, but they knew how to cook a full Mistralian breakfast.

Brede then said, "In light of the events of the last few days and what James and TC have said to me, I thought it best to get a few things out in the open. I spoke to Weiss here and she agreed with me."

Weiss said, "It seemed best not to hide things unnecessarily."

"First off, Weiss is seen as a prime target for kidnap and assassination by the White Fang and has already been the subject of two kidnap attempts by criminal gangs. While I am the spare and not the heir and my family ranks below the Schnees and the Marigolds in the ranks of the perceived exploiters, I am also a potential target for kidnap and assassination. I have certainly been the subject of one attempted murder although in my view my uncle was the main target. I would merely have been collateral damage."

TC said, "I was there for the attempt on Brede's life, and I agree with his analysis. Understandably his father believes that they were both targeted."

Brede said, "My uncle and I owe our lives to TC here and to Winter Schnee who was his commanding officer."

Jaune looked at Brede and Weiss. He realised that he suddenly felt sorry for two incredibly wealthy people.

"My family and the authorities in Atlas only agreed to me going to an academy outside the Kingdom if they were happy about my security. The fact that Beacon is physically separate from Vale meant that it was the only acceptable choice. Also, since the incident in Vacuo, Planchet had been by my side."

Planchet coughed, "Before becoming a gentleman's gentleman, I was a member of the Atlas Diplomatic Protection Service."

Julia turned to look at James Norris, "So you don't have a crush on Weiss, but you are her to protect her."

James said, "I was coming here before it was known that Weiss was attending Beacon. I was simply asked to look out for threats against her by the SDC in return for an additional fee which will make my time here more confortable. My primary reason for being here is to become a hunter after seven years with the ADPS."

Julia calmed down. "Thank the gods. I hope you are happy now that her team is more than capable of dealing with any threat."

TC coughed, "While you may feel that this was overegging it, I was asked by both Winter Schnee and by Parsifal Campion to keep an eye out for their sister and nephew respectively and t' raise any concerns which I might have with about their fellow students with Atlas command."

"So Dogbreath – sorry Julie, Cardin- was closer to the truth when he tried to cover up for Dove last night? This latter was Lydia's contribution.

Brede said, "Yes. He did have a point. Besides which while Beacon was happy to accommodate Atlas's concerns by putting me, Weiss, James, and TC on the same corridor, they refused to change their rules on team formation."

James Norris contributed, "I was a little alarmed when two of the wild cards ended up on the same team as Miss Schnee – sorry, Weiss – and another on the same team as Brede here. Because of my fears about the White Fang the fact that one of them was clearly a Faunus who was disguising herself did not reduce my anxiety. By the way Miss Harker, I did not spot that you were a Faunus, although as a wild card of unknown origin I was concerned."

TC then contributed, "Knowing the identities of James and Planchet here, in order t' avoid the risk of overlapping investigations into the past lives of our wild cards I contacted Winter Schnee after the teams were determined. Mr Arc here has a well-documented existence as does Miss Rose. Besides which neither of you knew a week before that you would be applying or volunteered as students."

James said, "While the details have not been vouchsafed to us, Atlas – and, in particular, Winter Schnee - has confirmed that they are satisfied that neither Anne Harker nor Blair Nightshade are a threat to Brede or Weiss. Indeed, their main concern was Miss Xiao-Long here."

Yang then said, "Listen very carefully, I shall say this only once. My egg donor is Raven Branwen. I have not seen her since birth, and I have never spoken to her. She made her choice long ago."

Jaune wondered why the Vale students giggled at the first sentence.

TC said, "In any event, Raven Branwen has informed to Professor Ozpin through a trusted contact who verified the message was from her which he has relayed to Atlas that she has no intention of kidnapping or harming either Brede or Weiss. She put it in terms of enlightened self-interest that she had no desire t' pick a fight with Atlas."

Jaune said, "But she protects the White Fang? Sorry, Yang, but it needed to be said."

"No offence, was going to say the same myself."

TC and Brede exchanged glances. Brede nodded at TC. The latter said, "My conjecture is that although the White Fang has increased its violence over the last five years it has not gone in for indiscriminate terror. There is a possibility that Raven Branwen as well as acting as a go between to negotiate ransoms or return of stolen goods and aircraft also exercises a restraining influence on them. It also allows the multi-Kingdoms to claim that they do not negotiate directly with terrorists."

Weiss said, "But the murders of multi-Kingdom employees and the damage to the infrastructure.."

Brede said, "Not enough to justify the unilateral intervention of Atlas in the affairs of a foreign kingdom or to risk triggering adverse reactions in Mantle to sending troops to fight a war to protect the interests of the multi-Kingdoms against Faunus. Bear in mind the effect of the revelations of the multi-Kingdom's excesses in Vacuo three years back and the fact that the multi-Kingdoms blamed them on the actions of their Mistralian employees and sub-contractors. Besides which the Mistralian government has not requested assistance from Atlas."

Weiss said, "I see. It would be easier to justify attacking the Branwen Tribe for their actions against Atlas than for fighting them because they turn a blind eye to the activities of the White Fang."

Nora said, "Can we have pancakes now, Ren?"

Everyone seemed relieved to have an excuse to change the subject. The Valeans felt embarrassed seeing the Mistralians and Atlesians washing their dirty laundry in front of them. Jaune and he presumed the rest of his team did not want to look too closely at the flaws of their own kingdom and the Atlesians did not want to go into too much detail about the acts of their multi-Kingdoms.

Jaune remembered dad's joke about mother's attempts to downplay the threat of Raven Branwen by suggesting that mother would next say that fences make good neighbours.

They had the introduction to Stealth and Security class from Ann Greene at 10. The mix of practical and theoretical suggested that this could be a fun class. He suspected that this would be one where the mustangs would shine because many of them would have been doing this in practice for years.

They then had another combat class with Professor Goodwitch. As expected the matchups today involved those who had not yet fought.

An odd match was between James Norris on Team AFRN and Richard Lemon from Team BBLE. They were both Mustangs (Lemon was from Vale) and were extremely cautious. It was a minute before the first shot as both of them were waiting for the other to make the first move. There were some feints which were not followed through on when the other declined to respond. About three minutes in there was a flurry of blows initiated by Lemon. Jaune believed that both were technically competent but neither made much of an inroad on the other. When they fired shots at each other they mostly could swerve to minimise the effect on their aura. After ten minutes a draw was announced with both of them still at around 80% aura. There was mostly silence from the spectators although Pyrrha and the other mustangs applauded.

Professor Goodwitch did her best to put this in perspective. "You both recognised early that you were evenly matched. I assume that both of you learnt early on that in dealing with bandits or assassins with aura, the best move is to deter them from attacking rather than to fight."

Both contestants nodded. "In addition, you are both used to watching out for a second or third assailant and so prefer not to go all in in case that leaves you vulnerable to flanking."

Again, a wry nod from both of them. Goodwitch then said, "I appreciated the skill shown and it will serve you both well in your careers. You did not give each other any opportunity to cause real damage. Traditionally mustangs are more likely to qualify for their second Vytal Festival rather than their first. This is because you have to partially unlearn the things which served you well in your previous careers. I do not want you to forget them but to learn to mix it in a little more aggression."

Jaune turned to Pyrrha who said, "I bet Richard also spent time in diplomatic security as well. You have to ready to react but not take out innocent bystanders. Block the bullet meant for your ward with your aura first rather than take someone out who may not be a threat at all and risk bad publicity."

Jaune nodded. That made sense to him. He wondered why Goodwitch had matched them up if she knew this would be the result.

The next fight was between Lydia and Roland Fawn. The latter was a slightly built deer Faunus from Mistral and was on Julia's team. He and Rupert Bartleby were fairly quiet, although with Nora, Yang, and Lydia around that was understandable. It was quite clear that Julia did not fancy his chances and the team leader almost glared at Professor Goodwitch. She urgently whispered advice in Roland's ear. In the meantime, Pyrrha leaned forward in expectation.

Roland's main weapon was a longbow, but he also had two pistols. This suggested that he would have similar problems to Brede. A useful member of a group of four but vulnerable as a solo fighter.

He did feel that Lydia was perhaps not taking the match seriously when she took an appraising look at her opponent and then reached into her golf bag of weapon holding and produced a table tennis paddle, an umbrella and what looked like a couple of table tennis ball from it.

Goodwitch had chosen the largest size arena she could in the gym they were using. It was of course a far smaller than the arena which would be used for the Vytal Festival, but Roland did best to take advantage of it by placing himself as far from the centre of the arena as he could. Lydia was close to the centre but not right on the line.

When the whistle blew for the start of the fight Roland fired his bow and the arrow flew straight at Lydia's head. It did not encounter her aura but was deflected by the unfurled umbrella which was self-evidently coated with dust. She then used her table tennis paddle to hit the ball at him. The ball turned out to be a fire dust grenade which exploded against his aura and took it down by around twelve per cent. Undeterred he fired both pistols at her, but the first bullet was deflected by the table tennis bat and the rest by the umbrella as she charged him.

Roland reacted quickly and concentrated his aura in front of him to avoid her repeating her leader's tactic of getting in close quickly and rugby tackling him. Unfortunately for him she seemed to have been expecting it and instead bounced her aura against his. Although his aura held, his balance did not and he fell back a few feet, getting close to the ring out line. One of the pistols fell to the floor and Jaune saw him curse. Lydia slashed away with the side of the paddle at his aura and for some reason knocked significant chunks out of it while Roland rebalanced himself. She brought up the umbrella again. He had recalibrated his aura so that it deflected and slowed down rather than functioned as an impenetrable barrier. She placed the tip of the umbrella against his chest and pushed. Roland desperately tried to hold on but found himself falling out of the arena.

The woman pulled Roman to his feet and shook his hand. There was a generous round of applause although Dove Bronzewing ostentatiously did not join in.

Professor Goodwitch looked slightly irritated. She said, "Mr Fawn, your tactics were sound, and your aim was excellent. After Mr Corkran's tactics yesterday, strengthening your aura to the front of you was a reasonable reaction which Miss Travers anticipated. Perhaps next time step in a few more feet after taking your first shots. No doubt others will try variations against you. I and the other teachers will be happy to discuss alternatives with you."

She turned to Lydia, "I see that the stories of the Travers disguised weapon collection fell short of the reality. A sound plan well executed. I was expecting to have to warn you against the dangers of taking knocks to your aura on charging opponents with projectile weapons, but clearly your brother taught you well."

He sensed that Pyrrha had enjoyed the fight. He turned to her and asked her why as it had been one-sided. "I liked it because I was not expecting what happened. My opponents in Mistral had become too predictable. I did the right thing coming to Beacon."

Most of the rest of the fights were less remarkable. It was interesting seeing the final member of Team SFRN fight the final member of Team BBLE. Rupert Bartleby who was from Torch, the third and smallest combat school in Vale, was against Edward Gold another Mustang this time from Mistral.

Edward Gold talked to Henry and June before the fight, but it was evident that they knew little about Rupert. Unlike Mistral Vale did not have regular fights between the different combat schools. Rupert was another quarterstaff user and looked nervous and lacking in self-confidence. This ended up being another match which was defensive in nature. Edward made a few efforts to charge Rupert, but the man's defensive reactions were sound and the blows he landed were heavy. Edward then contented himself with using his pistol to knock small chunks out Rupert's aura, but in the end it was another draw with insufficient difference between the aura counts to say one person had won.

The one person who looked happy was Cardin. Jaune wondered about that and decided to ask Julia about it the next time he was alone with her.

The class finished and he had thirty minutes before the sparring session. He and Pyrrha went back to the dorms. Ren and Nora were going to have lunch in the canteen with Team RWBY. Lydia and TC apparently were going to the driving range and hit golf balls and discuss Lydia's arsenal of weapons. It was an interesting variant having someone who was deliberately an all-rounder rather than a specialist.

Jaune and Pyrrha knocked on Team LLACs door and it was answered by Planchet, Brede's valet. Inside the room was Brede and his partner Anne. There was music playing and Jaune recognised the singer.

"That's Foxy Heart isn't it."

The Pig Faunus blushed, "Yes. She's my favourite." She paused, "I thought her records were banned in Mistral?"

"My older sister is a fan. She spends a lot of her time in Vale." He did not explain that mother allowed Amber to distribute scroll discs to the Faunus LGDF members to use to barter with in Faunus run dust stores. He certainly did not intend to discuss the suspiciously low prices the Ansel LGDF paid for dust in such stores. Still as mother's favourite poet had written, "them that ask no questions isn't told a lie."

Brede said, "I like the husky voice. Some of the lyrics are a bit suggestive, but I rather assume it's the satirical ones which really caused the ban."

Anne said, "I did say that if anyone has a problem, I will listen to them on headphones."

"So long as you are happy to listen to my Flynt Coal and his Killer Quartet recordings, I won't object to Foxy."

The song ended and Anne quickly switched the music off. Jaune wondered if she was being tactful as if he remembered the album correctly the next track was "Mistral City" which was originally recorded just before the Faunus wars as a spoof minstrel song by a human Faunus rights supporter.

Anne said, "Mind if I come along, Jaune. I'll give you both feedback on what opportunities you would give to opportunistic fighters like me. I also need to learn how people fight with different weapons and how to counter them."

"Of course not."

Brede said, "If you don't mind, I asked Planchet to prepare a picnic for us after the sparring. We have an hour before the next lecture."

They walked down to one of the training rooms attached to the armoury. The armourer had ready for Brede four different swords of varying designs and weight. Brede had also brought his rifles out of his weapons locker and handed them to Anne.

Pyrrha was curious about the rifles and asked Brede, "Do you mind if take a look at your main weapon? They look like works of art."

He laughed and said "Be my guest. Ruby has already inspected them and wanted to know who designed the sights. They were made by Pompadour of Mantle. They traditionally supply weapons to my family."

He noticed Anne giggle. The aristocrat laughed in his turn, "Fine. Your family traditionally makes your own."

Anne said, "And it only takes us minutes as opposed to a month. Mind you they only need to last for the length of the fight before we drop them in the river rather than one hundred years."

Jaune and Pyrrha exchanged glances. Anne looked up, "Don't worry. We are only teasing each other. No point in pretending Brede isn't filthy rich and I'm just…. poor." Jaune could have sworn the woman was originally going to say filthy rather than poor. The two teammates bumped fists.

After ten minutes, Jaune knew that this was an arrangement which suited him. He was not so comprehensively outclassed and every so often his opponent would make mistakes. From what Pyrrha said, they were mainly mistakes which arose from trying to do things with a heavy sword which were more appropriate to a foil. He also had no problem with slowing down the movements so that Jaune could see what was happening, Brede said that this was a necessary part of the learning process for him.

Halfway through Brede strapped on his rifles to his back and Jaune realised why he had brought them along. It slowed his opponent down and unbalanced him but if he was going to fight with them both at the Vytal Festival he needed to get used to this. Jaune realised that he would need to practise this himself.

At the end of the hour, he was feeling more comfortable that he had a way forward to be a decent fighter with the sword. Pyrrha made suggestions to both him and Brede on modifications to their style and on what she said were tells which an experienced opponent could take advantage of.

He did wonder where Anne Harker had learnt to fight. Her suggestions to Brede and him had included adding a small knife and looking out for stabbing opportunities. The other ones about manoeuvring your opponent so the sun was in his eyes or on to rough terrain which made it easier to slip suggested that she had learned to fight in an environment where practicality was important. He thought that she and TC would get on well with his mother who in her defence coordinator role was used to finding every slight edge she could to allow the people she was responsible for to survive.

Jaune and Brede agreed to fight again the day afterwards. In the changing room as they showered Jaune said to Brede "I am impressed by how well your team seems to be gelling together despite each of you having such different backgrounds."

"I think that may be the reason we get on. It helps if you all know you must get used to each other and cannot take anything for granted."

Brede paused and then asked, "Did you know about Blake before last night?"

Jaune said "Not officially. I guessed, but I am from a part of Mistral where the White Fang operates."

Brede nodded, "Both Anne and TC did. Neither me nor Lydia did."

The man paused, "Look if you want to occasionally let off steam to me, feel free. We are the least accomplished fighters on our teams, and we are both likely to have to fight in the Vytal Festival in front of millions. Our teammates will go out of their way to tell us it does not matter, but we both know it does."

Jaune said, "Of course, Brede. Do the same with me." He was glad of the offer, but he felt that the man was too self-composed to really need it. Besides which he suspected that the man was good enough with a rifle to play the sniper role in the first two rounds and if his team got to the quarter finals they would have worked out who best to pair him up with.

The picnic lunch was excellent and Anne and Pyrrha were waiting for them. Pyrrha asked Brede, "Why did you all decide to speak to us this morning?"

Brede replied, "We all thought that it was best to address the concerns you all might be having upfront. After all people other than Dove would be asking questions about Anne and Blair."

Pyrrha said "It was unfortunate that Dove was near a microphone last night. What do you make of Team Cardinal generally"

Anne said "I know that me and Dove will clearly get along like a house on fire - screaming, destruction and a requirement for the emergency services. Cardin is his best friend. Still Russel took TCs word about me and said that Cardin had told Russel not to worry about me being White Fang."

Brede said, "I don't know how much you two know about what happened in Vacuo three years ago, but some members of the Mohawk tribe were killed in the White Fang raid on the Rising Sun Mine."

There was a pause as they all thought about that. Jaune said, "I know from Kulsa that the White Fang killings of ex SDC and Atlas Gold employees caused some of their friends and relatives to assume all Faunus are White Fang. That did not help with the negative emotions. My mother finally got the authorities to enforce the no forest 10-mile zone."

Brede after the next pause, asked, "Do any of your team know Sky Lark from Mistral?"

Pyrrha and Jaune exchanged looks. Pyrrha said "Ren and Nora know him better. They are surprised he is here rather than Haven. They never had any problems with him and neither have I. By Mistralian standards he is not anti-Faunus."

Jaune thought that was a careful choice of words. He said, "I did not know him from before, but he was perfectly friendly to me when we met before initiation. He seemed to be aware that things would be different at Beacon and was willing to fit in."

Brede asked, "Do you two have any idea why he is not at Haven?"

Jaune and Pyrrha both said, "No."

Jaune said, "He jokes that he came here to avoid being beaten up by Pyrrha, but he did not seem that upset when Pyrrha showed up here."

Pyrrha said, "What about Cardin? Julia seems to like him."

Anne said, "Lydia and Cardin are cousins. She acknowledges that she is biased against him as he used to pull her pigtails when they were children. Also his father is an unpleasant man and even Julia agrees on that one."

She paused, "Lydia accepts that Julia has a point that Cardin has improved. She does not know whether he is just hiding things better or if he really means it."

Jaune said, "Look, its early days. Let's give everyone a fair chance. Amber says that being at an Academy gives us all a chance to reinvent ourselves. Most of us are away from home for the first time and are meeting people with divergent backgrounds. I hope you all give me an opportunity to be something other than a redneck from Ansel province and I want to give everyone else the same chance."

Anne nodded back at him and gave a thumbs up.

Brede laughed, "Well said. Still, you don't strike me as a typical Misty singing redneck anyway."

"You know what I mean. You're not what I expected an Atlas aristocrat to be like - well apart from the monocle. If it wasn't for the ears TC seems more like one."

Brede said, "The accent is his normal one. When I first met him he claimed that using it meant that the squaddies from Mantle were more likely to obey him without question when he told them not to step into quicksand or do something else which could kill them in Vacuo."

Pyrrha asked, "What was the trick with the table tennis paddle? I could tell that there was an edge to them."

Anne said, "Carbon steel blades. Only to be picked up by the handle and she does use a protective cover."

Brede said, "Most of the weapons do function well as sports equipment."

Pyrrha looked at the time and said, "Five minutes until the next lecture. Thank Planchet for the delicious picnic for us, Brede."

Brede and Anne stayed behind to clean away the picnic and put it in the hamper. As he and Pyrrha made their way back, Pyrrha said, "I've met Brede and Weiss before at Atlas. Neither of them is a typical rich Atlesian."

"Do you know why they aren't at Atlas?"

"No. I can guess, but I don't know."

Jaune nodded. "I know one advantage of not going to Haven is that no one expects me to be as good as my sister."

Pyrrha smiled at him, "Neither of us are going to ask Weiss if that is her reason."

"You're right."

She then said, "Jaune, I was speaking to Ruby about Crocea Mors. As I said I am using my Pumpkin Pete money to fund the team as a whole and I said I would speak to you about whether it was OK if I funded some dust enhancements to it."

Jaune was rather taken aback and did not know what to say. Pyrrha sensed he was not entirely happy and said, "Cardin's great aunt is funding his team's upgrades, Brede is doing the same for his team and Weiss will be supplying Team RWBY with dust. I am just levelling the playing field. Well keeping us in the arms race."

Jaune relented. "Well put like that, I would be foolish to decline."

At the end of the day there was another team leader meeting. He and Ruby walked over together. She said that she was going to work on his shield over the weekend to improve it. Weiss had agreed to sell the dust needed at no profit to Pyrrha and she explained the uses of the hard light dust and the gravity dust enhancements. Apparently Velvet would be helping her so as to ensure that everything was perfect. He could not avoid giving her a hug of appreciation and she laughed at him.

To his surprise when he arrived at the meeting, TC was there wearing an Atlas military uniform. It was clearly that of an officer, but he did not know what rank it was. Professor Port was the presiding teacher and said, "Captain Corkran has asked if he could have a word with you all before proceedings start."

The Lynx Faunus said, "I understand that some of our contemporaries are a little concerned about the backgrounds of some of the people on my landing. I am a reserve officer in the Atlesian army and on the day of initiation contacted my superiors. I can now confirm that the Atlas military is happy that both Anne and Blair are suitable people to share a dorm with members of the wealthiest families in Atlas. This includes Weiss Schnee's sister. I can assure you that neither of them is a member of the White Fang."

Cardin nodded. "Thank you for that. I know that will reassure my team."

Henry Boxer looked a little puzzled. "I am surprised that we have not heard about a Faunus officer from Vacuo in the Atlas military previously."

The Lynx Faunus replied, "My friend Marrow Amin, who I served under in Vacuo, is a dog Faunus who was born in Mantle. He preceded me as a Faunus officer and as he was the first received the publicity. He is now a member of the most elite unit in Atlas. There are others, it is just that publicising each one makes it seem too much of an exceptional event rather than a normal occurrence. Besides which I am now in the reserve rather than the regular army and I pride myself on not exactly being a role model."

Henry accepted that reply although looked thoughtful.

Professor Port used the lecture to play extracts from past Vytal Festivals where the team leader was different to the best fighter on the teams which reached the finals and semi-finals and then extracts from interviews where the best fighter paid tribute to the leader for motivating them or for ensuring that they worked as a team rather than solo fighters. To judge from the reactions of his fellow leaders, he was not the only one suffering from imposter syndrome who found this a good message to hear.

At the end, Professor Port handed out copies of the current rule book for fights at the Vytal festival and warned them that it would be revised before the festival.

He chuckled, "I suggest that you save up demonstrating your most imaginative bending of the rules until two months before the festival. Glynda – Professor Goodwitch – has a distressing habit of clamping down on what she perceives as abuses, and she is Beacon's representative on the rules committee."

It may just be me, but the idea that Atlas and/or the SDC did not do background checks on Weiss's teammates seems unlikely. This of course leaves questions on how good they were and how much they relied on Ozpin. Similarly, with Ozpin knowing Raven's semblance and criminality, admitting Yang to Beacon and having her sharing a dorm with an heiress also feels like asking for trouble.

Guest- thanks for the review. Trying to get the balance right between allowing the OCs to take over and making the Academy seem more like a real institution is not easy and I am glad that it is working so far for you.

I've made a choice with Pyrrha which I think is justified by some of the incidents in the series. She is not going to deliberately undermine Jaune but she is going to do what she thinks is best for the team.
