Hello everyone, the Opulent Neckbeard here. I was bored, so I tried something out. That's all I honestly have to say. Enjoy.
Chapter 1: Hunter, Welcome to Trouble Already.
(???)
Wow, I knew that Fatalis was hard, but to finally see something best me in combat. Heh, I'm impressed. Well to be fair, it was mutual destruction as I managed to kill it with my last breath as well, but if rumors are correct, it won't stay dead for long.
So in a sense, some of those older Second and Third fleet guys are better than I am after all. Glad I looked up to them as I did.
I'm going to miss you guys, that much is for sure.
(???)
CRASH!!!
"Ow… Way to ruin the moment of clarity… wait, am I alive somehow?" I asked myself as I inspected myself. Still had on my Master Ranked Great Girros layered armor as I saw the hat over my head, and the large amount of black. So I guess I am alive then, neat. That was the least of my concerns however.
I had no idea where I was. I mean, beautiful place, sure, but where was this at? A new gathering hub perhaps? No, too many stars, and the crickets are reminding me of Astera too much. It is a bit odd to see everything so clearly now after what happened, but I don't feel sore or anything either. I did feel something, however, nuzzle up against me.
Looking down, I see a mass of white fur with wings, a small pair of ivory tusks gently grazing against my arm as it slept peacefully. My question was why was there a Barioth laying against me? Did it lose its way, and seek comfort? Looking around, I didn't see anything that would entail such, but did see something, that being an orange bandana. Not only that, several weapons I have made over the years.
First was what I first used, that being a heavy bowgun. The only one I saw was the Guild Palace Rifle, though a bit scuffed up from what I can assume to be the crash landing. Other than that, it was as good as I remembered it to be.
Second were two Great Swords, one of Fire and the other of Ice. The Fire one was a Rathflame Gleamsword, a master rank Azure Great Sword that worked well against my time against Fatalis… well, until I died that was. Still a great sword, no pun intention. The other one of Ice was the spear tuna one from that Beotodus hunt a while ago. Got that fully upgraded, much to the hilarity of one of my hunt mates. Hey, I enjoy slapping monsters with a frozen fish sometimes, what can I say?
Next was an Insect Glaive, forgot which one it was, but it does poison damage. Sadly the Kinsect I paired with it is missing, one that had speed and power in droves, but wasn't really a support as much as I would like it to be. I am new to the whole helicopter thing, but I know some people love them.
After that were a couple of Master Rank Ore weapons, those being my Hammer and Dual Blades. Both are simple in concept to use, but take time to master. I think I have the hammer dialed down pretty well, not so much on the Dual Blades.
An Orange and Blue Swag Axe was next, being from a Fulgur Anga , that and my Black Lightning Eagle were my Thunder weapons. Odd how they're the most complicated, but are both thunderous options. Also both have an axe mode, that part is merely coincidence more than anything. I would add my Kjarr Hunting Horn there too, but that is blast instead of lightning, but that was there as well.
A Xeno'jiiva Light Bowgun was laying around, as was a Namielle Long Sword. Those were the last two that see significant usage from me. Killed a Kulu in less than 30 seconds with the Long Sword, which was both hilarious, and sad. Had some chicken that night, so I couldn't really complain that much at the end of the day. The Xeno'jiiva LBG I keep to honor my favorite Elder. I bet she is having fun somewhere now in the afterlife.
(Meanwhile)
An elder dragon in the form of a young girl sneezes in a wagon, going from one village to another.
"Are you okay Zofie?" Their main companion asked with a tone of mild concern.
"It's okay, Ava… I think someone was thinking about me was all." The girl spoke, ignoring it for the rest of the trip. (1)
(With the heroine)
After gathering my weapons best I could, using my jacket to keep the Barioth warm, I looked through my items to see if there were any S.O.S Flares I could fire off. I only had one left after a bit of looking, and I sure as hell hoped that it worked. Lighting it up was easy enough, and it flew up as expected too. Now was the waiting game to see if I could either find more Hunters to assist me, or someone to help me get all my shit to civilization. I bet with the little Barioth with me, that will be hard…
(The next morning)
I ended up sleeping as things got dark, and managed to catch some food for myself, and the young wyvern, which I opted to name Fubuki. She didn't seem picky so far, but considering she is small, it will be noted I will have to find bigger quarries as she gets bigger. Such is one part of having to raise any animal, monster or not. Then again, a good sized buck will last a couple days if we ration.. or if I ration at least.
Luckily, it didn't seem that I had to live out in the wilderness much longer as I heard a wagon approaching our location, an odd symbol appearing on the side of it from what I can see. Inside, the smell of freshly picked fruits and grain could be gathered. One person came out to greet us, though became stiff as a board when they saw Fubuki. Another came out, more curious about the situation.
"Hello ma'am, were you the one who sent out that light in the sky last night?" The second person asked, their tone fairly gentle. I nodded at their question. "I see… You were lucky we were on our way to Orario with fresh produce, otherwise we wouldn't have come here."
"That's alright, but if it may hurt to ask, may I get a ride there? I'm pretty new to these parts." I asked with a lax tone, which wasn't a lie, I was new to the area. "I also can't carry all my weapons with me, and Fubuki as well." I said with a more sheepish tone.
Both of the people look to my small armory of weaponry, their eyebrows raised. They then shrugged, and asked someone towards the back if they could handle a pair of guests. They sounded accommodating as I was invited in. I did laugh as both the wagon drivers struggled to carry the larger weapons to the wagon.
"How are these things so heavy? Especially the fish!!" The more timid one complained as I simply laughed. "What are they made of?"
"Mostly Bone, Metal, and whatever monster I killed to make them." I felt Fubuki cower a little in my arms once the cargo was stored, keeping my Xeno'jiiva weapon with me. I scratched under the Wyvern's chin to calm her down. "Not you Fubuki, I wouldn't dare hurt you." I said in a more motherly tone. Holy Sapphire Star, I am getting used to this too quickly, I swear.
"Then what about that thing in your hands? Looks like a Ligerfang mixed with a wyvern that's been rolling in snow all its life." The other asked.
"Fubuki here is known as a Barioth, or the Ice Tusk Wyvern. She is a cub now, so when she is fully grown, she will get to about 20 meters from snout to tail. That won't be for a couple of decades or so, and also depends on her upbringing. She seems okay with me as I am her only means of survival, so I will do my best to care for her." I said with a gentle smile, seeing Fubuki asleep in my arms.
"While we have never heard of such a creature, it is nice to know you still care for one, nonetheless. You must be around these creatures a lot." The third person said, a woman with blonde hair, and a mature demeanor.
"Hunters like myself only hunt to preserve the natural balance of an ecosystem. If there are too many predators causing trouble, and the herbivores are no longer able to sustain themselves, we come in and fix the problem. It is generally up to us whether or not the monster in question is too dangerous to live or not after confronting it." I explained how my profession worked, and the people seemed interested.
"What Familia specializes in that sort of adventure work?" The blonde woman asked with a bit of a curious tone.
"Familia? I was a part of the Fifth Fleet, was actually their best hunter out of them. Sadly, I had a run in with a Black Dragon, and I somehow ended up here." I said with a bit of a sigh.
"You fought monsters as large as you said, even the Black Dragon, and survived without a Falna? I am most certainly impressed." The blonde said with a small chuckle.
The gates to a large, walled off area became known, and of course, there were complications as soon as my presence was noticed. I had to use a silver tounge of sorts in regards to the weapons and Fubuki, but seeing as I didn't intend any harm, especially with a cub in my arms, sleeping peacefully mind due, the reluctantly allowed me access, but let me know to head to the guild immediately to get things cleared up.
As for my weapons… Sadly the guards were holding onto them, allowing me to take my dual blades for defense. It was still funny to see them struggle with the masses of bone, metal, and monster, and I had to hold a laugh in to avoid waking Fubuki. I swear most of the time, the Tuna is involved, and I would just lose it. Maybe they should work out more instead of just tending to the gates. They are front line after all.
Anyways, the trip to the guild was helped by an escort from one of the Familia I was told about earlier. She was much smaller than me, and rather skeptical as well from the onset. To an extent, she reminded me of some of the Fivers, but the ones who did all the research, not the ones out in the field like myself or the A-Listers. Doing my best not to be rude, I attempted some small talk, only to be shut down rather quickly as we arrived to the Guild House.
"Huh, kind of looks like Seliana's Gathering Hub, but less wood. Hopefully the inside is still cozy." I said with a lax tone, making the smaller statured girl roll her eyes, and just leave me alone.
Seeing as I had nothing better to do, I entered, keeping Fubuki in my arms as to not let her fall on accident, and I approached an open desk. Sitting behind was a young woman about my age who looked like a Wyverian, but also Human. A bit odd as she had shorter ears than a true Wyverian like the Third Fleet Leader.
"Hello, what can I help you…. GAH!" she almost fell over seeing Fubuki, only to more closely inspect her with an adjustment of her glasses. "Why do you have a monster in you hands? Please don't let it be what I think it is…"
"Fubuki and I came from outside the walls. We're actually new here thanks to some food transport people finding my SOS flare." I said with a mild chuckle. I heard a sigh of relief come from the woman's lips.
"Thank goodness you aren't another one of those people… I'm Eina, one of the Guild Advisors here, how may I help you?" Her tone was more professional now, leaving me a little stunned.
"Uhh… I honestly have no clue as to why, the guards just told me to come here without any context. It might have to do with Fubuki here, as they've never seen a Barioth before. Don't worry, she is smart enough to know that she should behave." I said as the small wyvern looked up at me, pressing her head against my chin cutesy, alongside a soft noise akin to a meow.
"Okay… Haven't done a blank slate in a while, so why don't I help you with that? Follow me, and we can get started." Eina said, leading me to one of the back rooms.
It was cozy place, and large enough for me to put Fubuki down so she can stretch her legs a bit, and walk around. We both kept an eye on her in case she did anything that would get her in trouble. While that was going on, she elected to ask me questions. They were simple at first, like my name, age, and other various things that didn't involve professions, but it soon lead to that.
"Are you a part of a Familia by chance?" Eina asked as she took notes on both my info, and perhaps a small doddle of Fubuki to show some coworkers.
"I have only heard the term today on my trip here. Most of my work was on an island far from here, away from whatever a Familia is." I said as I stretched a little bit, popping my back.
"I see, that answers a few questions there… So that means you lack a Falna too. What exactly did you do as a profession?" Eina asked, looking me square in the eye.
"Monster Hunting to preserve a natural balance within the ecosystems we saw over. Dangerous examples were slain, otherwise they were captured to be relocated to a safer location." I said with confidence.
"And what sort of monsters were involved?" Eina asked again.
"Mainly Wyverns and Dragons, with the occasional large mammal like monster. I have my books with me, detailing the Monsters I have fought in the past, including some more extensive information of what Fubuki's species is." I said, putting the journals and images onto the table for Eina to look at.
The odd Wyverian didn't look at them at first, but seeing as I had plenty of documentation impressed her quite a bit. She then picked one up labeled 'Ancient Forest,' and started looking into thing with a careful eye. After a couple minutes of this, she pulled out some of her own notes, and compared the two to what she has seen. Her eyes widened at the realization of something.
"These Wyverns you mention… they're not spawned from the Dungeon, rather naturally occurring animals who have adapted like anything else. Everything holds a place somewhere. This is fascinating, but what if they begin to appear in the dungeon? How will adventurers be able to handle them?" Eina started to rant a little in theory.
"It depends on their behavior. Some are passive unless attacked, others will be relentless until you run away, or dispatch them. Hell, I've seen my fare share of them engaging in turf wars, and let me tell you, those are spectacles." I gave a light laugh at the nostalgia of such. "As for what adventurers do? They will learn in time. Every fight will add a little more experience, that much is guaranteed." I added. This seemed to placate the odd wyverian for a moment.
"Mind if I keep these so the Guild may make more comprehensive notes?" Eina asked, and I nodded as it was important that knowledge regarding such monsters is spread around, otherwise it would lead to panic among the masses.
"Fubuki's page will be within the 'Hoarfrost Reach' book as her species normally lives in Cold environments with plenty of snow. I haven't encountered a Sand Barioth, though, and those are identified by them being in desert environments instead of winter ones." I said, picking the pseudo wyvern up, and she stands on my shoulders, resting her body on my head.
"I see… I should have you register, but since you lack a Familia, you will need to search for one first to be an Adventurer." Eina said as she closed the books she was looking at. "Considering your past occupation, either the Loki or Ganesha Familia would be your best choices."
"Alright, I wouldn't mind doing a little bit of sightseeing while searching. I don't think I have any of your guy's currency, however." I said as I chuckled nervously.
"That is a slight problem, but for the books, I think something can be worked out. Please wait here while I talk to my boss about this." Eina left soon after, leaving Fubuki and myself alone, though it wasn't long until she came back with a bag full of currency.
"We can give you Ten Thousand Valis for each book, and for 7 books, that will be Seventy Thousand Valis." She hands me the bag as I feel the weight to it. It was heavier than I expected, so that was good, meant that there was material there, and good quality.
"Thanks, this should last me for a decent while if I manage it well. I guess that is all then?" I asked, and affirmation by Eina gave me the answer I needed. "In that case, I should find where the guards hid my weapons. If they did anything to them, a monster approaching the wall is the last thing they will fear."
With that said, I headed out, getting more odd looks with the fact Fubuki was still plopped on my head, though she quickly decided to go back to my arms for protection. I thought it was cute to see her like this, but I knew in a few short months, she would be ready to start fighting alongside me. It was a nice thought to have since I know Fubuki would make for a great companion with the right nurturing and care.
Despite all of this, I wanted to get at least my Hunting Horn from the guards as having a heavier weapon would be a nice option to have instead of my dual blades. Treading back to where the Guild was, I found the guards still confused about my weapons as they were neatly organized. Of course the Horn was one of the topics of discussion as I came up, and rather casually picked it up, hoisting it onto my back where it rested. Nothing was scratched or dented, so no one was getting slapped… yet.
"So you came back, and seeing with that bag on your waist, you managed to get some Valis. Guessing you are with the Guild?" one guard asked.
"Nope, I need help searching for the Loki or Ganesha Familias, as those are what the lady I talked to suggested I went to." I said with a smirk on my face. "If I could get some help, then that would be nice."
"The Loki Familia's place is to the north. Head towards the giant tower, and take a left, go straight until you see a massive complex. I haven't been to Ganesha's place in a long time, so I have forgotten the route since then." The guard said. "We can hold onto your weapons while you search for a place to call home."
"Thanks for the tip, don't know how long I'll be gone, so make sure no one messes with my weapons, well maybe outside the frozen fish, but its sharper than it looks." I laughed at that, a wide smirk on my face. "Anyways, see ya when I'm going to grab my weapons." I left the guards to mull about, a laugh leaving me again.
Now he said that I should take the main road to the center, and take a 90 degree left if I remember correctly. Why not take a shortcut while I am at it? I mean, what's the worst that can happen? Taking the opportunity to find an alleyway, I slip through one with Fubuki in hand, or well, my head again as she found a comfortable perch along my Hunting Horn. Never figured out why it had Dodogama materials on it when it is a Kulve weapon, I always found it odd to me, but I never questioned it as it is a beautiful weapon regardless.
My thoughts were cut off by the sounds of people shouting orders amongst one another. Looking around the corner, I saw several people waiting in front of a church, seemingly waiting for someone to come out. A wyverian scientist wasn't needed to understand what was going on, and I began to bring out my Hunting Horn, Fubuki jumping off of me to go and hide under a nearby tarp. I was far enough away to not grab their attention as I loaded up my buffs in sets of three.
First was a simple movement speed increase, allowing me to run faster with the Horn out. If I was going to be clapping cheeks, I was going to need all the buffs I could. Second and Third boosted my attack and defense by a good amount, simple as that. I haven't been caught yet, so I let the melodies play, overcharging them to allow an even greater effect for each of the buffs.
Once those were done, I rounded the next three up for use. Extra Vitality was first, as being able to handle more hits for a while is a godsend in hunts from my experience, especially with aiding younger, less experienced hunters in the field. Next negates Wind Pressure attacks, so I won't be effected as much by… wind, kind of simple in hindsight. My last buff will expose me to onlookers, as it left an invigorating pool of light to maximize my endurance and recovery. Of course I overcharged them too, increasing their effects for longer than normal just to get the most out of them.
A couple of stragglers noticed the green glow from the last buff, and went to investigate, only for them to experience first hand why you don't let your guard down. To their credit, they were at least knocked out in what looked to be an abandoned house. This caught the attention of many of the people on the rooftops hearing the sounds of buildings and whatnot breaking in close proximity. Most notable was the blond guy in green, and had full wyverian like ears. Boy was he pissed to see an interloper getting involved in matters so callously.
"Some of you detain the woman, and bring her here so she can learn not to mess with the Apollo Familia!" he barked his orders, and soon I was beginning to see just how many people there were. I mentally cursed myself for not making more SOS flares before this, but no matter, they didn't appear too tough. What were they to a dragon slayer?
"Bold of yee to try and tussle with us while we had our backs turned. Are you reinforcements for the Bell kid?" a burly guy about the size of the Admiral approached with a Greatsword perched on his shoulder. "Surrender, and we might only leave you with a few bruises. What do you say?" about 10 others were there. Some held glaives, another had a sword, a trio of archers, and one unknown with a staff and silly hat.
"Sorry to get involved, but that many people looking over one spot is a no go in my books." I smirk underneath my mask. "Besides, I have faced way scarier on my off days." I taunted them, and like clockwork, the big guy took a swing at me.
I am not used to fighting other people, but with such a slow and deliberate attack, even I could make a counter. Slamming the end of the Horn into the cobblestone, I spun the head of it around, making both a bellow from the pipes, as well as a concussive force around that shattered the blade into tiny shards. Jeez, what the hell material was that sword made out of to break so easily? They must have been cheaping out, or my horn is just that powerful.
"What the?!" the man was equally perplexed at this, but before he could answer further, I sound the Horn around, hitting him in the side as a blast formed from the impact, knocking him into several of the slower compatriots he had with him. Now I had an echo wave stored for later, lucky me.
"We have a level 3 at least! Be on guard!" One of the others said, again a smaller folk about 3 and a half feet tall with brown hair, and otherwise relatively attractive. It's a shame I have to kick their ass to get to whatever goal I intended to prevent happening.
"Please don't take this personally? I don't know you guys, and you seem like alright people, but whatever is going on needs to stop." I said before taking a breath, flipping the horn forward, hitting the poor shorty in the gut with a pipe, only for the echo wave to hit, knocking them back, and out for the foreseeable future. I didn't stop there as I used the momentum to knock the others out as well with the extra charge soon after.
While that was going on, I noticed a couple of people poking their heads out of the place the Apollo guys were surrounding, only to get attacked immediately afterwards without warning. This made my blood boil at the blond in charge who seemingly organized it. I gave a low growl as I launched my slinger to a nearby rooftop, using it as leverage to kick that smug bastard in the face. It was one thing to negotiate things out, but this was something I couldn't stand. Even if I was to get hurt because of this, I didn't care, I wanted these guys out of commission asap.
With a new purpose in mind, I reeled in the slinger, launching me into the air at quite impressive speeds, the blond only registering as soon as I was 20 feet away from him with my Horn in prime striking position. I did feel a few projectiles hit me, but I won't let that stop me… I can't let that stop me no matter what. Even with the burning sensation it left afterwards, my eyes were focused, and my muscles tensed more than I really needed to.
Closer…
Closer……
BOOM!
The Blond wasn't quick enough to stop me, and even if he did, his sword broke against the hardened scales of the horn. He did resist quite a bit more than the others so far, but he wouldn't hold up as the pillar collapsed under him from the force alone. What sealed him though was the blast damage, launching him into the ground, and leaving a small crater on impact. He would live, yes, but damn was that satisfying. I landed not long after, rolling along to break the arrows stuck in my armor off, as well as putting out any fires on my body.
Flipping my horn around to perch it on my shoulder, I took a potion to restore some of my health before any further actions could have been taken from the bag I was carrying with me. It was smaller than what my palico would use, so I only had 4 potions left from this. It wouldn't matter too much at the end of the day, I can always stock up on more later. For now I need to catch up to the two who started to run off, the others in hot pursuit.
Lucky for me, I spotted them faster than the rest, so I broke into a full sprint after them. My buffs were still going strong, so I could see about keeping up for at least a while. Even luckier for me was Fubuki was on the way, so I could scoop her up for support as well. I don't know how much she could do yet, but I would have to figure out sooner or later. Anyways, I was closing the distance to the two I chose to protect for now, Fubuki looking scared as all hell in the meantime.
"Don't worry Fubuki, mommy is here to keep you safe, just hide in the bag for now." I said in a soft tone despite my anger still being there, and Fubuki tucked her head inside the bag to conceal herself.
When I did catch up to the pair, they noticed I wasn't intending to harm them, though considering they didn't recognize me, they were skeptical. The small girl no less as she seemed almost jealous of my presence for a while. I should be the jealous one because damn she is cute, but my anger currently overshadowed that, so she is off the hook… for now.
"How many of them are there?" The boy asked me, but I could only shrug a bit as we ran, albeit a littler slower to conserve stamina. We did have the occasional skirmishes through the alleyways, but nothing too serious as long as I kept the buffs up, which I did.
"Damn that Apollo, wanting to steal my Bell-kun…" the girl said, making me chuckle a little bit.
"That won't happen so long as I'm around to aid you, though it would be best to find a way to the Guild, that way you will be safe." I said as I shake the bag a little, and a few scoutflies appear from the opening on the cage they rested in. "Set a route to the Guild." I ordered, and they immediately went to work.
"Woah, what sort of magic is that?" both of them seemed interested in the scoutflies, but before I could answer, more people showed up to distract us. One person caught my eyes however, and with buffs still fresh, I could take advantage of the situation at hand. We stopped to gauge him out a little bit, Bell mentioning a name I couldn't hear.
"I'm surprised you made it this far, Bell Cranel." The man said as he pulled out an oddly shaped sword. "I also see you had some help… No matter, Rejoice that you two will be fighting me now."
He darted in faster than I would have been able to even hit with my Horn, but luckily I still had my Dual Blades on me, so I dropped the weaponized instrument in favor of the simple dual wield style, as well as setting the bag I had down. This was bad as Bell was taking the brunt of the attacks, and I could already smell the iron from the bleeding.
"Take the bag, and head to the guild asap, I will stay with the boy for now." I said in a serious tone, having a couple of max potions on me in case shit hit the fan like I was expecting. The girl simply nodded, taking the bag with her to follow the scoutflies while I joined in the fight.
He was making a fool out of Bell, but a kick to the back of his knee before he could make any serious injuries on him caused him to stumble and swing wide, giving a brief moment to counter, which Bell did by retreating to a safer distance next to me. Our opponent on the other hand, was quite cross with how things were going.
"Tch, you just had to join in too, huh? I am only following my masters orders to have Bell join our glorious familia, but I don't think he would mind any casualties along the way." His voice sounded warped as a sadistic grin went across his face.
"So this was a planned assault after all… Bell, you recover, I will fight him alone." My tone grew venomous as I changed the grip on my dual blades to that of a reverse grip. "As for you, errand boy… Perhaps learning some humility will serve you well." My body envelops in a faint red aura as I activated Demon Mode, charging in at him with a burst of newfound speed.
He blocks the first few strikes before he starts to get overwhelmed by the onslaught bit by bit, not expecting me to be as ferocious as I was. Good, I should be able to at least incapacitate him before I run out of stamina, though it will have to be quick, and he still has good defensive motions. I have to push myself to my absolute limits if I am to be victorious. He, unfortunately makes some separation, letting me drop out of my Demon Mode for now.
"You expect to win with that barbaric means of fighting?! Apollo would be disgusted in that ugly technique." He was losing his temper against me, which only gave me more advantages than before. I couldn't help but smirk from that a bit.
"Barbaric? Perhaps, but it's keeping you from attacking as well. All I need to do is stall for Bell to get out of here once he's recovered." I said as I briefly took a look back with my eyes, seeing that Bell wasn't in sight anymore. I can make my leave if I wanted to as well, but I wanted to piss him off just a little more. "Besides, Apollo seems like an ass and a half if he has people like you working under him."
This makes the man freeze in anger, and I wanted to laugh about it. "I offered my everything to Apollo-sama!! I'm the only one who can accept him for he is!" he yelled out in a mix of rage and passion.
"Yea, yea, whatever you say. My job here is done, so do me a favor and piss off to lick your masters boots like the good kid you are. K?" I said, straightening my stance a bit, already disengaging from the fight. While he did have a prime shot to attack me, he didn't knowing it was a lost cause. Good thing too, I feel like the combination of my buffs and Demon Mode will wreck my muscles by tomorrow.
On the plus side… I know who I want to join now despite my previous thoughts today. I just hope that I can meet whoever manages Bell's Familia. He seems like a good kid, and could use an experienced hunter on his side. So with the potion not having to be used, and my hunting horn retrieved, I followed the scoutflies to the Guild, hoping I could get some food and rest for the meantime… that and give Fubuki some much needed cuddles.
And that is this mess done, and according to this, damn near 6k words. Now to explain the elephant in the room. How our Hunter is able to contend with a Level 3 adventurer. Truth is, she can't, it was only by a combination of the Buffs from the Kjarr Hunting Horn, as well as Demon Mode with the dual blades that she was only on par for a few moments. Her strength is on part with Level 2's without the buff, and no Falna, and when she does get a Falna, she won't be quite at Level 3 strength, somewhere close though.
As for Fubuki's existence… why not? Barioth cubs look adorable as all hell, and they're smart cookies for Wyverns.
Our Hunter will main the Hunting Horn, but will use other weapons should she feel the need to drop her support role for a more offensive one. This does include more antics with the Frozen Fish sword both in and out of combat.
Anyways, hope you enjoyed this meme of a story, and I may get back to this eventually. Opulent one out!
