Don't Stop
Be ready for the unexpected opportunity that knocks, it may only knock once
"Hurry up" Quinn called watching Rachel stood talking to the random that had played in the band they'd used to perform for the past two shows "We're going to be late" she hissed at her, they were on their way to Houston to perform their last gig for two nights, before going back home to Los Angeles
"We'll be fine" Rachel fanned her off to go back to her conversation
"She's always so freaking flirty with the groupies" Quinn turned to Mercedes hissing "She's going to get herself into some serious shit one day and we're not going to be around to save her, you watch"
"Rachel" Mercedes called, fed up with hearing the two of them bickering "Get your ass over here"
"I'm coming" she grabbed hold of the guys cuff and pulled him along with her, Quinn and Mercy stood watching the guy pull away from her grip before slowly following her over to them "He's the drummer from the band that's backing us, he's on the same flight" she told her friends
"But you don't even know him" Quinn gasped at her looking awkwardly at the tall sad looking guy
"I do" she laughed "His name's Finn, he plays the drums" Rachel told them, Quinn rolled her eyes they'd been on stage with the guy for two nights, they all knew that much about him, and they also knew he's spent most of his time off stage on the phone to some girl, so what the hell was she playing at
"There you go again with your fucking musical men" Mercedes rolled her eyes hissing at her "Relentless" she huffed stepping off before Rachel got the chance to introduce the guy to them "Come on" she snapped
They were a girl band touring for the second time in a year they'd done the north before the holidays and four weeks ago they'd headed down south for seven gigs before their journey home. They were tight as a group, but they were determined to live their separate lives off stage, and to the best of their ability they did, generally they didn't interfere with each other's social lives, as long as it didn't impact on work, and right now Rachel's activities were impacting.
Mercy was a single girl, she didn't care much for relationships that had to consider distance, they'd never worked for her, so she tended to date when she was home. It wasn't as if she was heavily into dating or even needed another person to validate her, she was happy single and happy hooked up, but nothing serious or meaningful had even made her want to change her mind about the way she'd chosen to live her life.
Quinn had married early and was totally in love and committed to her husband Noah and their daughter Beth, they were beautiful to watch when they were together. She could be very moralistic around the other's especially as her life was so settled, Rachel and her didn't see eye to eye on most things, but when it came to the music they were perfectly synchronised and that was all that mattered.
Rachel was the searcher of the three, constantly looking for the right one, she didn't have very many specifications, but they were specific, he had to be into music as much as she was, understand the need to travel for it, check for long distanced relationships if the need arose. So, as you'd guess, she never looked far from the stage for her partners, the band members were always a target for her, so the fact that she'd zoned in on this new guy wasn't a surprise.
Rachel followed them still chatting to Finn, she didn't care about anything her friends had to say, she was interested in this guy, Mercy and Quinn walked in front making their remarks while walking through check in and through into duty free, while Rachel giggled like a schoolgirl meeting her very first crush at everything the guy had to say.
"That's us" Quinn looked up from her coffee at the boarding notice, laughing as they all jumped up and ran to get to the terminal
"What's your seat number?" Rachel looked at her friends asking, as they queued
"I'm not swopping seats" Quinn quickly told her "I told Noah my seat and everything"
"And?" Mercy asked her wondering what that had to do with anything
"I'm not a liar"
"Fuck sake" Mercy rolled her eyes at Quinn's ridiculous
"Oh" Rachel huffed displeased at the response as she looked up at Finn before looking at Mercy
"Don't look at me" Mercy cut her eye at her
"Please Mercy" she moaned "We really want to get to know each other" she whispered in her friends ear
"Girl" Mercy looked up to see the guy standing a bit too close for her to speak openly to her friend "I'll see what the alternative is" she rolled her eyes; smiling at the fact that on second look the guy Rachel was into was cute enough, everyone stepping forward as the queue got smaller
"This is me" Quinn jumped into the seat closest to the window "You two can fight it out" she grinned at them looking at the two empty seats in front of her
"Where's your seat?" Mercy looked up at Finn asking
"Further down the front E1 or 2" he pointed towards the front of the main part of the plane, Mercy smiled she'd wanted a seat with more legroom in the first place, but they were all booked when their manager finally got her finger out and booked the flights
"Deal" she looked at Rachel smiling
"I think you got the better deal" Rachel smiled at her friend "We can cosy up" she looked at Finn before sliding into the window seat
"Shout if you need anything" Quinn called after her
She walked down the aisle and smiled at them as she stepped into the longer legroom section of the plane, her eyes widened with joy when she realised she'd got a seat with nothing in front of it, she gave them the thumbs up and took pleasure in sitting in the chair. She sat in the window seat, kicked off her shoes and got ready for the six hour journey, all she needed now was to pull a blanket over her and she was sorted "Excuse me" A voice got her attention, she was busy looking out at the activity going on further down the runway
"Sorry?" she looked up at the tall, handsomely cute stranger
"You're in my seat" he smiled
"Oh" she looked at the seat embarrassed "Sorry I just dived towards the window seat, I didn't even look at my ticket"
"I'm not partial to a window seat if you've settled in I'll be fine here" he pointed to the seat she should have been in
"I'm…" she smiled at him making the decision for her, whilst throwing his hand luggage in the locker above her head, she sat looking at his naked waistline as he stretched up, she could see hair coming up from his waistline spreading across his flat stomach, she took a breath and quickly looked away as she noticed his eyes ready to meet hers "Sorry" she smiled at him, knowing he'd caught her
"It's fine" he giggled "I beat you to it, I was checking you out as you walked down, noticed you from way up back" he pointed to the back of the plane
"Like your taste" she smiled watching him sit in the seat next to her
"I like your everything" he moved in to whisper in her ear, she smiled blushingly at him, her body reacting with a fluttering feeling that started in her stomach and made her move in her seat at the erogenous shock it sent through her sensitive love muscles, he'd moved into her space, and she'd felt it.
"Ditto" she giggled cheekily
"Looks like we'll be sharing" he pointed to the TV in the wall in front of them "You can pick first film"
"Music's more my thing" she looked into his eyes, trying to read what he was saying between those lines
"You can pick the music then" he smiled "Anything you want"
"You aim to please" she looked into his eyes blatantly staring back at her with lust
"Oh, you don't know how much I'm willing to please" he gave her a sexy side look, obviously wanting her to read something into it
"Are you flirting with me?" she grinned sheepishly
"Is it working?"
"Yeah" she giggled
"Then I am" he smiled "Listen" he cleared his throat "This isn't me" he chuckled "I mean I'm the shy type, I don't have conversations with random girls on planes and think about doing things, I shouldn't be doing with anyone but a wife"
"Things?" she looked at him surprised "What things?" she grinned "Your Married?"
"That would be telling" he smiled "And not yet, I'm looking" he laughed
"You really are flirting with me" she smiled
"Let's switch the subject before I get myself into trouble here" he laughed "What do you usually do on long flights?"
"Sleep, read" she looked at her bag and pulled out a book
"Oh" he smiled grabbing the same title out of his man bag "Great minds" he put the book back "Maybe we could just talk"
"Just talk?" she smirked, her mind was way past talking, so much so she was still blushing "I thought you were the shy type?"
"Apparently not around you"
"Sorry" she shook her head trying to get her thoughts straight "I mean…" she looked at him trying to understand the conversation she was about to have in her head "This isn't me either but…" she stopped trying to hold what she wanted to say in her head
"You feel it too?"
"I don't actually understand what it is I'm feeling right now" she smiled "I mean we literally just met"
"You're right, let's calm this down a bit, again" he rolled his eyes "Maybe we're just excited about the flight"
"That'll be it" she nodded willing to take his explanation for her feelings as truth. She plugged in her earphones to listen to her playlist she hated lift off and that and a chewy were the only things that got her through "Sorry" she was suddenly aware of someone stretching across her, she automatically lifted her hands like a child willing to get strapped into their travel chair, before she realised it was him stretching across her
"She said put your seatbelt on" he told her startled face "I guessed you didn't hear; I was trying not to disturb you"
"Pardon" her blush apparent for him brushing across her chest as she took her earphones out
"Seatbelt" he pointed to the airhostess "Lift off"
"Oh" she smiled "Thanks" she took the belt out of his hand and fastened it herself, turning her attention to the slow moving plane, watching the workers getting smaller, anything to distract her from the hardening of her nipples just from one touch
"I hate flying" he smiled "Turbulence gets me every time"
"You're safe with me" she smiled before turning quickly back to look through the window, his eyes were watching her nipples growing with a smirk on his face, she squeezed her eyes shut damning the skimpy silk top she had on, it was the first thing she'd grabbed out the suitcase when they'd showered, but of course she was planning on sitting with her girls and maybe falling asleep. Suddenly her head was pressing into the headrest, and they were ready for ascent, she looked down at her hand, he'd grabbed hold of it and his face wasn't looking too relaxed "You alright?" she asked
"I hate flying" he squeezed out
"Here" she put one of her headphones in his hear and gave him a chewy "That should help" she smiled at him letting her put the earphone in while he opened the sweet, it was only seconds before the song she was listening to changed, she was rolling her eyes at the next song "Sorry" she looked at him apologetically as 'No Strings' by Ar'mon & Trey ft. Queen Naija played in their ears
I know you want to ride, see it behind your pride, this ain't hide and go seek, why you still trying to hide
You know I want to ride, but you got to teach me how, at times I get a little shy, cause I want to make you proud
We don't need no strings attached, so put your feelings to the side and let's get down, (baby let's make shit shake….
They sat listening to the song, stealing looks at each other for the words, smiling embarrassed when they caught each other's stare "No strings" he smiled when the seatbelt sign changed, and he took the earphone out "I like the sound of that"
"Sorry it was…"
"It did the trick" he laughed, his stare lasting a bit longer than it needed to "Thanks"
"Glad I could help"
"You want to help?" he looked at her, his face serious "I don't think I'm hiding it very well, I feel an attraction between us, but it's been a while for me, so I'm a little backed up, I'm thinking maybe that has something to do with it, but hell" he giggled "You're fine as hell"
"Thanks" she giggled "I think" she looked at him "You're mm…" she looked at him trying to find the right word "Delectable?"
"I bet you are" they both knew the conversation had a direction, and it seemed they were getting comfortable with it taking that direction
"Drinks?" the hostess appeared next to him asking "Hot, cold, strong?"
"Do you want a drink..?" he asked
"Mercy" she smiled "Dry white" she smiled listening to him relay her order to the hostess and ordering himself a whisky "Thanks you" she smiled at the hostess giving her the bottle and a cup "Whisky…?" she asked at the cup he took with what looked like a double in it.
"Sam" he smiled "There's a story behind this" he held the glass up laughing, she didn't hear much of what he had to say she was too busy falling onto those full lips of his, and watching the shapes his mouth made as his husky voice hummed out of them, he was speaking romance, she knew that, but she was watching it
"So?" he asked grabbing her attention
"Sorry" she smiled looking for his eyes that were focused on her cleavage, she held her breath when his hand actually went to touch her naked breast that was peeping out of her top "What?" she asked pulling away, feeling him pull her earphone out
"I thought you weren't listening to me" he laughed "I've just told you the entire history I have with whisky, and you didn't hear word"
"Sorry" she smiled unable to stop watching his mouth "Your mouth is distracting me" her mind was definitely in another place for her to say something like that
"I've been told I have luscious lips and a smooth tongue" he smiled touching his lips with his tongue "An advantage when I need to give delicate kisses, if you know what I mean" he giggled
"You with your tongue and me with my throat, we make a good pair, don't you think?" she couldn't help bursting into laughter for her comeback, she was being rude, totally out of character for her
"Are you travelling alone?"
"No, my friends are back there" she pointed to the back of the plane "We're actually a girl group" she smiled "But right now all I can think is young free and single"
"Snap" he raised an eyebrow shuffling in his seat excitedly "Are you saying what I think you're saying?"
"Vegetarian or chicken?" the hostess asked disturbing the conversation
"Vegetarian" they both smiled at each other for wanting the same thing, she pulled the tables down while he took the two trays and passed one to her, they sat eating their supper in silence both wondering where that conversation would have ended had they been given the opportunity to finish it.
They finished their meals and cleaned up to settle in with another drink before the lights dimmed telling them it was time for sleep "Do you want to lay back?" he asked pointing at the lever at the side of her chair
"I'm a side sleeper"
"I don't mind you using my lap" he pulled her pillow from behind her head and put it in his lap
"Ever the gentleman" she smiled before slamming her head on the pillow "I guess it's your turn to choose the music" she turned to look up at him
"Sure" he smiled down at her "Something to get us in the mood" he picked his phone up "I actually have a bedtime playlist, so please forgive whatever comes out that you don't approve of" he chuckled putting one of the earphones in her exposed ear
"Mm" she smiled settling in as 'Cruising' by Busy Signal came over the airways "This is my jam, but I've never heard this version before" she smiled
"It's new"
…Baby let's cruise, away from here, don't be confused, the way is clear
And if you want it you got it forever, this is not a one night stand, Baby
Let the music take your mind, Just release and you'll be fine Baby
You're gonna fly away, glad you're going my way I love it when we cruising together…
She couldn't help but feel him drawing O's on her arm as they listened, at first she put it down to some sort of relaxation thing, but when it started moving along her arm she didn't make a noise about it, in fact she started to get turned on by it. The feeling was too hard to resist as his hand lowered with every complete circle she turned, reached up and pulling his head towards hers, finding his lips quickly "Sorry do you…?" she pulled away to ask if he minded but he pulled her back in before she could finish
"Sorry" he let her head go as quickly as he'd grabbed it "I've been wanting to do that since the second…"
"We met" she smiled "I know, me too" she lay staring up at him for a short while before their lips met again "This isn't what I do, I need you to know that" she told him between the kisses
"I think we've established these are foreign grounds for both of us"
"Let's make this clear" she frowned at him "I'm not asking for one of those cheesy, unromantic bathroom mile high breaks here, I don't actually know what I'm asking for, but I know it's not that"
"I guess I'm asking for at least a dinner" he frowned "We're going to be in the same city for at least a night, what do you say?"
"I'm working for two nights but maybe tonight we could fit that in" she smiled
"That would fit right in for me too"
"What do you do?" she looked up at him asking, sleep didn't seem to be something that either of them were interested in right now
"Music, I play the guitar" he smiled
"Anything I might know"
"This" he pointed at the earphones they were listening to, smiling at her taking the time to stop the conversation to listen to it
…Alright, whenever you're ready we move, let's fly away like a dove
You know dah style ya mi love and da blessing ah come from the father above
No push no shove girl get inna di grove, taking tequila shots yuh know I'm bullet proof
Sailing in to your paradise cove, the wooden fire light up your cold stove
Mi love ah bubble fi yuh girl mi nuh haffi prove, ah listen reggae Jams mix wid the riddim an eh eh…
"That is so dope" she looked up at him grinning
"I play the guitar; the real geniuses create the sound and add the lyrics" he laughed
"There's no I in group, band or whatever" she giggled "They needed you to make all that come together didn't they?"
"I guess" he smiled
"So, I'll start this conversation again" she smiled "That's dope"
"Thanks" he leaned in and kissed her "I don't know why, how, or even when" he looked into her eyes "But I know I need you in my life"
"We've met, I guess that's a start" she smiled
"Feels like a beginning" he stroked her face she moved in and held onto his neck giving, and taking, the deeper kiss they both needed, she moaned as his hand moved from her arm to wrap itself around her back pulling her into him while supporting her enough to not have to stop what they were doing. The kiss got more urgent than any of them had expected they were both moaning for the feel of their mouths playing footsy together, his hand moved down to her waist, luckily she had jeans on that clung to every inch of her body, no way was he getting past those so she was comfortable with his move "We need to stop" he finally pulled away "I'm embarrassed" he looked around red faced, shifting his bulge out the way of where her head was about to go back to "Sorry" he rolled his eyes at her surprise on feeling it
"No" she smiled "I'm actually impressed" she raised an eyebrow
"I have other impressive moves" he assured her
"I intend on finding out what those are" she grinned up at him, "So" she swung her feet off the seat and sat up "Other than your name and the fact that you play guitar on some great music, you're a great kisser, and you seem very well endowed, I know nothing else about you, who is Sam"
"We're going to dinner tonight"
"So, you want to save the questions for later?"
"No" he smiled "There isn't much to me to be honest" he looked into her eyes "My name is Sam Evans, I'm generally shy, I haven't had many girlfriends, but I'm not a virgin, I travel a lot for work, I live alone in LA, and I love cool ranch Doritos" he smiled
"So, how do you manage these relationships when you go off travelling?"
"Depends on how I feel, most of the time I usually do something to mess it up before I go away, or when I get back the arguments about trust usually break us up" he laughed "I wouldn't say I'm possessive or anything, but I do like commitment in a relationship, and I do tend to throw my toys out the pram if I feel like I'm not getting that"
"I can relate, I caught feelings once, and that non-gentleman did me over good"
"He was a fool"
"I told him that" she laughed "And I guess since that, I've never let anyone get that close, I just bin them or, they know from the off it's not a thing"
"Have there been many?"
"No, well, I've been on a lot of dates, but past that…" she giggled "Give me your hand" she counted on his fingers in silence how many, lifting each finger teasingly "You?" she smiled at him when he put one finger down
"Seriously?"
"I told you, I'm shy"
"You did"
"So, where do you live?"
"LA, alone" she smiled "I guess we have that in common" she looked around at the sleeping people "Are we going to get some sleep tonight?"
"Why close my eyes and dream about you when I can sit here and talk to you in person?"
"Cute" she giggled covering her mouth to stop the noise waking someone up
"This started off such a crap day" he leaned back on his chair and smiled to himself "I woke up this morning to a text from by little bro saying he was going to marry the bitch from hell, he wants me to bury the hatchet, not in her head, and be his best man" he laughed "Of course, I called him and we had it out, I told him she's not the right girl for him, and in total honesty I didn't think he was ready" he frowned "Our parents have been relentless all day because I'm so against it, I just cut the call on my mom before I got on the flight, and then I meet you" he looked at her "And I understand why my brother's so set on marrying the damn girl"
"She looks like me?"
"No" he giggled "He's always talking about this instant attraction thing they've got going on, how he knew she was the one the second he laid eyes on her" he looked into her eyes "I felt all that when I saw you" he pulled her to him and kissed her again
"I can't wait for our date tonight" she smiled at him before pulling him back for more kisses "Don't stop" she pulled him back when he tried to pull away
"There's…" his eyes looking beyond her "Someone watching us"
"Mercy Jones" Quinn stood with her hand on hip shaking her head in shock
"We're on a date Q, go away" she giggled
"If you ever hurt my friend…" Quinn waved her finger at him
"He's going to hurt me, and I'm going to love it… bye Q" Mercy grabbed his lips again
