AN: Thanks for telling me I was spelling Rei wrong :p I would've continued with that if you had not told me.

Chapters 1 ,2,3 have also been slightly edited, 3 more then the other 2 it explains parts better and hopefully fixes issues previously there. The title and description have also been updated. Also only few of the original Angels from the series will be here, everything before episode 16 stays but after that it will be mostly my own ideas.

Chapter 4: 3 days and school

Asuka and Misato had sat down to eat their meal. It was only around 3 PM and Misato still had to go back to work after this lunch break.

"So mind telling me why you 2 left Rei all alone to fight that Angel?!" Misato asked

"Oh, sorry about that. It's okay though! I saved her and Shinji so it's fine right?"

"No it's not fine Asuka, I have to go back to work soon, so tell me what happened or wait till I get back, but you will tell me, or I'll have to ask Shinji once he is awake."

" I'll wait!" She said in a happy tone. After saving everyone her mood was over the moon, and she didn't want to bring it down.

"Fine, but we will talk once I'm back. I need to go now. Don't do anything stupid Asuka."

"I won't, relax Misato!"

Misato had left the building and began driving back to NERV. She was remembering the events of the day. It had seem so long already that she just wanted to go sleep.

Of corse, it wouldn't be that easy, there is tons of paperwork needing to be done, and repairs on the 2 Eva. She also wanted to stop by and check on Shinji, he was estimated to be in the hospital another 2 days and be awake by the end tomorrow. Then that reminded her, there had been 2 Angel attacks in the same week.

She got back to NERV and started her way to her office. The lingering thought lasted about the Angel. That was the shortest time period in between 2 Angel attacks since the second impact.

3 hours later

Ritsuko walked into Misatos office, seeing the pile of paperwork she asked "would it be a bother if we talked right now?"

"No it's fine, I need a break from all this anyways. So what is it?"

" About the Angel, you likely noticed this also but it came only 3 days after the previous one."

"Yes I did think about that. I charted a list and time frame between each Angel attack, look."

The graph showed that since the resurgence of the Angels the speed in witch they appeared was slowly increasing.

"Yes that is interesting." Ritsuko responded while studying the graph.

"My best estimates say in 2 days and 21 hours the next Angel will attack." Misato said in a serious tone.

"That's not good, we need to find out why this is happening and what we can do to stop it."

"I agree, get Unit 02 fixed as soon as possible and get Shinji awake and feeling better as soon as possible."

"We will try." Ritsuko nodded.

"Anyways, I will finish this tomorrow, I'm going home. Don't wanna leave Asuka home alone too long."

"Okay, goodbye."

Misato got up and went for the door waving.

She left NERV and got into her car. It was pitch black outside and hard to see further then the cars lights projected.

Asuka woke up and began getting ready for school. Normally Shinji made breakfast and there lunches. He was not home currently and therefore unable to do his morning tasks.

Asuka, slightly annoyed, took a granola bar from the pantry and then packed up some simple things for lunch. "Bye Misato!" She said leaving the building.

She felt strange walking to school alone. Normally having Shinji there to bicker with made the mile walk slightly enjoyable. Today it was boring. She got to the entrance and saw the school had been damaged from the attack yesterday. They could see the body of the Angel designated " GorlaFien" a styled combination of the words Gorilla Lizard in danish.

Hikari ran up to Asuka. "Hey there Asuka!"

"Oh hi" Asuka said smiling.

"You seem to be in a better mood then before."

"Well after all I did save everybody yesterday!" Asuka responded in a louder voice then before. Everybody looked at her.

"Come on let's get to class." Hikari said pulling Asuka inside by the arm.

"So how did it go yesterday with the stooge?" Asuka asked once they got to a relatively quiet place.

"Oh it was fun, but the Angel appeared and kind of ruined that. I was surprised to, I thought it would be a perfectly day for that, because it hadn't been long since the previous attack." Hikari looked slightly bummed saying that.

"Yeah that was surprising, but oh well! It's over now!"

"Where is Shinji?"

"Oh him" Asuka laughed. Then Toji came over.

"What does the stooge want with me?" Asuka said acknowledging Shinjis friend.

"Well normally Shinji is here, I haven't seen him where we normally meet up. So I assumed you would know. Do you? Toji asked.

"Oh yeah he is fine, just in the hospital and all. Bye now! Gotta get to class!" Asuka ran off with Hikari leaving the boy behind.

Hikari smiled and waved before running off.

"What was that about?" Hikari asked.

"What do you mean?"

"You said it so, well, you said it like it didn't mean anything."

"He has been there plenty of times, so have I. It's not a big deal Hikari." Asuka retorted as they entered the classroom and sat down. The boy entered soon after.

The bell rung and the teacher entered.

"Rise, bow sit!" Hikari exclaimed starting class. Again, the teacher was talking about the 2nd impact. It seemed ok me that's all he ever talked about.

Class was boring, like always, but as the bell rang and class ended the jock had been sure to meet up with Asuka and Hikari.

"Hey Asuka! Real quick can I ask when Shinji will be out?" Toji asked.

"Why are you so darn worried, Misato said today, tomorrow or the day after I don't know." Asuka was annoyed and walked away to her next class.

A hour later

The boy walked to lunch and sat down to eat alone. He noticed Shinjis roommate and Toji's date from the previous day taking. Asuka looked annoyed but eventually agreed to *something*. Toji didn't know what, yet.

The boy looked back at there food when they saw the girls look in there direction, they started to walk over and Hikari sat down next to Toji and Asuka on the opposite side of the new couple.

"Hey!" Hikari said to the boy.

"How's it going?" Toji asked eating his food.

" Good thank you!" Hikari was smiling and slightly blushing.

"So Asuka what was the Angel battle like? It was so abrupt after all we didn't see Unit 01 or 02 anywhere." Hikari asked.

"Oh I killed that Angel all by myself. Ayanami did nothing except get beat up. Shinji wasn't even deployed."

"Wait why not?" Toji instantly responded.

"Oh uh, beca-" Asuka blushed slightly then continued speaking "It doesn't matter! I killed the Angel I saved all of your asses now accept that okay!" Asuka stood up looking down at everyone on the table.

"I'm just worried about him, he normally is in school and even in the hospital you guys are there together, but you seem completely unharmed and it was just stated unit 01 didn't even get deployed." Toji responded.

"Fine if you wanna know so bad ask him yourself! I'm done here, all you lot can only think about Shinji 'oh poor Shinji, what's wrong with Shinji' why can't my victory be accepted for how it is!" Asuka stormed of and went to a empty table in the corner.

"The demon girl is mad." Toji said laughing, but was quickly halted by Hikari pinching his arm.

"Look guys she is clearly upset, something happened yesterday. Im going to talk to her. I'll talk to you guys later." She walked away and to Asuka as she blew Toji a kiss. He turned to his food back blushing.

Why can they only think about Shinji! I saved them and this is how I am rewarded. Why does everything center around that baka. Asuka look to her side as Hikari sat by her.

"What's bothering you Asuka?" Hikari asked concerned for her friend.

"Nothing, nothing at all. Those stooges just got annoying that all." Asuka looked up and away from her friend.

"Look, don't think I'm dumb, every time Shinji has been mentioned today you've acted strange. Something clearly happed between you two yesterday."

"And why exactly does that concern you?" Asuka asked.

"Because I am to yee friend and therefor am concerned for you Asuka."

"Well don't be, I'm fine, I just get tired of my victory being overshadowed by Shinji getting a few scratches that's all."

"Asuka it's natural for his friends to be concerned for the boy."

"It's still a little excessive don't you think?" Asuka asked with a slight smile.

Asuka did have concern for Shinji too, though she wouldn't let herself admit it to anyone, not even her own mind. The events on the roof changed something in her, although it was not know what yet.

The bell rang and everyone got up from there seats excluding the 2 girls.

"Come on" Hikari said smiling at Asuka. "Let's go" she grabbed Asuka's hand and pulled her up then let go. They walked to class silently as Asuka repeated all of yesterdays events in her head.

Misato and Ritsuko had been charting and graphing Angel attacks for a good part of the morning. The 3 day interval between 2 attacks at first seemed strange and abrupt. After time they eventually noticed a pattern. Every 3-4 Angel attacks the time between the attacks decreased significantly, with only minor expectations. The most of witch was Adam and Lilith. It was unknown if those even were the first 2 angels however, there very well could have been more before humans existed on this planet.

Misato came to the conclusion that In another 3 days time another Angel would appear. The only thing they didn't know about this rapid pace increase was why it happened.

Ritsuko had theory's but none made much sense. However nothing made sense anymore, giant (seemingly) mechanical robots, giant aliens invading earth, and Adam hidden under NERV that few people knew about.

They also studded the most recent Angels behavior. It was unlike the others before it, it didn't try to destroy the city, .or get into NERV. Leliel was the closest thing to it, but even that Angel took the city with it. GorlaFien had only hit Eva 00 once unit 02 arrived.

The best guess was that its goal was to immobilize the Eva's and cause collateral damage to the city, that idea didn't hold up long however and it had many opportunities to destroy Unit 00's legs and arms that it didn't take.

Eventually the 2 NERV workers gave up, there was no use in prolonging this. The main goal was to fix the damaged Eva so that the next Angel wouldn't be on a 1 vs 1 agents the concussed Shinji.

It was likely he would still need to fight as it was an estimated 2 and a half weeks for the full repair on Unit 00.

Misato left her office deciding it was time for a lunch break as her phone received a call.

"Hello Misato, we called to inform you that Ikari has awoken. He wants to see you and/ or Asuka."

"Well I guess lunch will have to wait." She said hanging up the phone. Rei was released from the hospital after only a few hours, no real damage was done to her apart from a small tear in her arm mussels.

Misato entered Shinjis room. "Hey! How's it going?"

"Hello Ms. Misato. I feel oddly dizzy and lights are awfully bright, otherwise I'm fine at the moment." He smiled at Misato while sitting up.

"We don't know all exactly what happed yet, but you sustained massive blood loss and a minor concussion."

" Asuka didn't tell you yet?"

"No, she said she would wait till later, I just decided to put it off till we could all talk together."

"Oh okay." Shinji said laying back down and hiding the light from his eyes.

"When will I be released?"

"I'll see if they can let you go later today. Remember! I need to ask you and Asuka why you two were so late yesterday."

"Yes"

She pulled her lunch out saying "I might as well eat here, need a lunch break."

"How is Asuka?"

"Oh, she is completely fine. Luckily she and a section 2 guard managed to get you guys here in time. Unfortunately you passed out and Asuka immediately got to her Eva."

"What happened to Unit 00?"

"It's heavily damaged, Rei was here yesterday but got released."

"Oh."

Shinji sighed and switched sides to look at Misato. As he did that everything started spinning and the window light gave him a massive headache. He rolled back over clenching his head.

"Are tot okay?!" Misato sat up and looked down at him. "Stay clear of any sudden movements please, you're concussed. remember?"

"Yeah. I will."

Hours later

The school day was coming to an end, it was the final class of the day and Asuka was dreading her return home. Misato would have a 'talk' once she got home. Likely Shinji would be there and make everything more awkward explaining what happened before the attack yesterday.

Minutes passed until the final bell rang. Everybody rushed up from there seats to the door. Except Asuka, she had sat up but only stood as the wave of teens spilt out of the room.

Hikari noticed Asuka hanging back and decided to go get her.

"Come on Asuka!" She said smiling.

"Oh yeah. I blanked for a second." It was a lie. She just wanted to prolong the time between now and that conversation.

They walked out of the classroom and Toji waited outside for his new girlfriend. Ugh, the stooges are here. She thought seeing Kensuke not too far behind. Hikari grabbed Tojis hand and started walking to the front of the school. Most students had cleared the halls by now so it was not a trouble dogging them.

They reached the front and said goodbyes, Asuka only responding to her friend. They walked separate ways to there respective apartments, except Toji, who began walking Hikari home.

Walking home alone feels strange. Asuka normally had Shinji to annoy or simply talk with, but her decision to go onto the roof, and panicking to much to get down quickly made Shinji get hurt, badly. On the other hand it wasn't entirely her fault. He had chose to go up there and seemingly panicked just as much if not more didn't help.

Plus him holding her, that was stupid. She was unable to move. Although she didn't consider the possibility that she just didn't want to leave his arms. The girl reached her building, the body of GorlaFien had been mostly removed. NERV moves quickly. She thought stepping through the first door. Next to the elevator, and eventually the apartment.

First thing she did was look out the balcony, the bulkhead they used to climb onto the roof had been blocked off from all sides. Looks like we won't be sharing another kiss up there. The remembered the kiss, it had been so raw, natural, and felt like the right thing to do. Now it felt like it was a mistake, her body shivered thinking about that. How could I let myself do that twice. Am I really so foolish?

Watching the city she noticed it was mostly intact. The majority of civilian buildings had lowered into the ground, minus a few on the rim, including this one. Why are we in a stationary building? Asuka thought realizing the danger of that.

Having reminisced about the past too much she decided to take a shower before her guardian got home. After a long hot shower she eventually left the bathroom to go to her room. She slid her door open just as the front door opened and Misato yelled "I'm home!"

Asuka looked back to see her and Shinji walking in. The guardian looked lively as she forced the refrigerator open and drank a beer can in a matter of seconds. The boy on the other hand had held his stomach, his face looked pale as looked around the used his hand to block light from his eyes.

"Yeaaahhhh!" Misato yelled sitting at the table. The 2 pilots looked at her.

"What?! It's just a beer I drink these all the time!"

"I didn't say anything Misato." Asuka responded. Shinji stayed silent as he walked in the direction of he and Asuka's rooms.

"Hi Asuka." He said passing by.

She didn't respond, only looked back to see him, clearly in pain. Misato already had another can of beer open and 2 more drinks on the table.

"Shinji! Don't go anywhere! You too Asuka! We are gonna talk!" Misato yelled at the 2.

"What?! Right now?!" The 2 teens said in synch.

"Yes right now!"

"But... can't it wait till later." Shinji said with a slightly annoyed and sad face.

"It won't take that long. Just get it over with now and you two can go so whatever or something."

The pilots walked back over and sat down at the table. Facing Misato.

"We'll start talking." The purple haired woman said now sounding serious instead of playful.

"Well-" Shinji was unable to say much more.

Asuka sighed as she was getting ready to tell a version of the story that was not entirely true, but believable enough.

Long chapter, and left on a cliff hanger (kind of) hope everything is enjoyable so far, this is my first time ever writing something like this so obviously some stuff is messy.

Just tell me what you think could be improved on in reviews and I will try to account for that.
