The Williamson family had tended their land for more than two centuries.

In the center of their property stood a farmhouse with antique charm, but the surrounding farmland that spiraled across the English countryside brimmed with organic crops and healthy livestock.

Severus admired the lush, green grass as he walked down the dirt path towards the Williamsons' farmhouse early one morning.

It had taken a true Potions Master to flawlessly brew a batch of Polyjuice Potion in only two weeks with the help of a constantly functioning acceleration charm.

Disguised as a respected officer from the muggle government, Severus walked up to the farmhouse and knocked on the door.

He heard shuffling from the other side for a brief moment before the door opened as an elderly man peered out.

Since he wore the appearance of another, Severus forced himself to mirror the happy smile that broke across the man's face.

"Officer Shabinham!" The elderly man laughed as he reached out and fondly shook Severus's hand, "You haven't been to my farm for months! What's brought you by? Vagabonds again?"

Severus did his best to make his unique voice sound convincingly average as he cleared his throat and nodded, "I'm afraid not, Mr. Williamson. You see, we've received a bit of news about a potential danger approaching in this area……I've come on the department's behalf to ask you to move your family and your animals off of your property for the night."

Mr. Williamson's cheerful smile faded into a look of confused disbelief.

"...I beg your pardon, Officer Shabinham?" The elderly farmer asked.

"We have reason to believe that you, your family, and your animals will be placed in a great amount of danger if you choose to stay here tonight." Severus explained, "Temporary lodgings have been arranged for all of you. Please act quickly, Mr. Williamson…….we don't have much time."

"What sort of danger is coming?" Mr. Williamson asked, "Wha-What about my home? My crops?! This farm is everything I have!"

"Your farm and crops will endure, Mr. Williamson…..And believe me, sir, I understand your concerns." Severus nodded in the form of the muggle he impersonated, "I do apologize, but the department has not permitted me to discuss the fine details of this predicament, merely to warn you of the coming peril, assist with your evacuation, and stress its brevity."

Mr. Williamson narrowed his eyes at Severus suspiciously as he asked, "Officer…….this doesn't have anything to do with orders from higher up in our government does it?...Is my farm the site of some ghastly secret?"

Severus took advantage of the muggle man's evident desire to find himself embroiled in something larger than the quiet, rustic lifestyle he led.

He leaned in close to Mr. Williamson and whispered, "...Surely you aren't one of those traitorous fools who would dare to doubt the crown itself?"

"Surely I am not, Officer Shabinham!" Mr.Williamson cried.

Severus smirked victoriously as he waited on the porch of the farmhouse while Mr. Williamson eagerly began preparing for his relocation.

Severus spent the rest of the afternoon in disguise as the muggle government officer while he escorted Mr. Williamson, the farmer's family, and all of their animals to a distant part of the thick forest that bordered their land.

After the family had settled into their tents and the animals had been corralled into their new, temporary pens, Severus made his escape.

He arrived back at Malfoy Manor in time to meet the raid party that waited with disturbing glee to carry out Voldemort's terrifying order.

Soon afterwards, Voldemort and his Death Eaters left the elegant estate and traveled through the air as hideous swirls of bloodthirsty rage.

Severus followed his leader and comrades as they crashed into the muggle farm.

The Dark Lord and his elite spent a good half an hour ripping everything to shreds with the potent Dark Magic that shot from the tips of their wands.

Severus fired off curses here and there when he knew that the others watched him, but between pretending to attack the farm and upholding his Occlumency efforts, he kept a mental tally of the damage.

Voldemort leveled the house with a great cry and one hateful swing of his arm.

As he watched, a chill ran down Severus's spine.

He wasn't certain if it was the madness or the malice he saw in his dark master's face that disturbed him more, but as the house and all of its contents crumbled, he glanced over at the flash of blue light nearby.

Bellatrix, Yaxley, and Lucius had appeared to have entered into a competition with each other to see who could destroy the most crops.

One crippling curse after another flew until the fields of wheat and barley were burned away, berries wilted in their growing places, and stalks of fresh corn withered into papery crisps of dried brown.

The destruction seemed dizzying.

To Severus's surprise, in the intoxicating delirium of the moment, no one noticed his thoughtless mistake and bothered to ask why the farm appeared to have no animals living in its pens.

Once the house and land had been reduced to ruins, Voldemort launched himself into the air with a wailing shout.

As he soared into the night, he cast one last curse into the blackened sky.

All around him, Severus heard cheers and applause ring out as he looked up.

He slyly disguised his fear and disgust with an expression that could have been mistaken for reverent awe.

In the night sky above him, the Dark Mark rippled with an ominous, green glow.

What Severus had previously clung to as a symbol of strength during the confusing, lonely years of his early youth, he had learned to abhor as a reminder of oppression and danger.

His black cloak billowed in the evening breeze as he kept his dark eyes focused on the grotesque image of the snake and skull.

Severus Snape had never felt smaller as he stood on the grounds of the muggle's shredded farm and gazed up into the unsettling symbol of death itself.

Voldemort spent the rest of the night celebrating his evil triumph surrounded by his loyal followers.

Severus left the party early with the excuse that Laima and the children would be missing him.

He expected his wife to be fast asleep, but he was greeted by a pleasant surprise upon his return to the cottage.

A quiet pop rang out in the living room of the Snapes' humble home to announce Severus's arrival.

Silently, he glided through the darkness, up the stairs, and down the hallway to the bedroom he shared with Lily.

Severus quietly opened the door, prepared to remove his robes and deftly slide into bed next to his wife.

His heart clenched as he found two hypnotizing pools of glowing emerald gazing at him from the bed.

"Oh look, my hero's home~..." Lily called out with a delicious giggle in her sultry voice.

Severus's black eyes widened as he stepped into the room and gently closed the door behind himself.

"Lily……?" He asked as he took a step towards the bed, "Shouldn't you be asleep, my love?"

"Ellery had a bit of a fuss, but he's better now." Lily sighed as she shifted in the sheets, "Come here, Sev, I've been waiting for you all night."

Severus's dark eyes glimmered as he stared at Lily for a moment.

He hurriedly pulled off his robes and changed into his sleeping clothes before he walked over to the bed.

Severus felt exhausted, weary, and eager to find an escape from the stressful events of his long day.

To his dismay, as he moved to climb into bed, Lily reached up, grabbed his hips, and stopped him.

He scowled down at her until she threw the covers aside.

Severus felt his expression slacken as his hungry gaze drifted over his wife's lovely, naked body.

"I can't begin to tell you how proud I am that you saved those people, Sev." Lily whispered.

Severus's pulse quickened as he watched Lily unfasten his sleeping trousers, reach inside, and carefully pull out his growing arousal.

"...I have no desire to witness killings." Severus whispered.

His voice sounded calm and steady in its usual velvet decadence, although a husky undertone permeated his words.

"You're my hero, Severus." Lily whispered.

He flinched as her hot breath blew over the sensitive tip of his manhood.

"Lily-" He croaked.

That was the last word he was able to form before Lily parted her lips and wrapped her mouth around him.

Severus gasped.

His black eyes widened at the sudden sensation generated from being encompassed by that warm, wet heat.

Lily chuckled against her lover, which sent thrilling vibrations rippling through him, as she listened with zeal to the groan of pleasure he tried to suppress.

From the wicked swirl of her tongue to the delightful suction she provided, Severus struggled not to let himself explode in his precious darling's mouth.

The idea intrigued him, but Severus was not selfish when it came to sharing pleasure with Lily.

She squealed happily as Severus pried her off and gently laid her back on their bed.

In a frenzied rush of kisses and touches, Mr. and Mrs. Snape spent the remaining hours until dawn making love.

Before the first hint of daylight broke across the sky, Severus gave Lily one last, sweet kiss.

He had discovered that night that he thoroughly enjoyed receiving the wonderful gift of a hero's welcome.

Severus only allowed himself a brief nap before he rose from bed and apparated away.

In the hidden confines of the thick forest, he quickly took another dose of Polyjuice Potion and resumed his disguise.

Severus was a much stronger wizard than most people realized.

He worked for the rest of the morning, but by noon, the Williamsons' farmhouse had been perfectly repaired.

Their many fields of crops had been restored to their original, healthy state.

After Severus helped the elderly farmer move his family and animals back onto the property, Mr. Williamson removed his hat and pressed it to his chest.

He nodded at Severus as he spoke, "Oh, Officer Shabinham! I don't know what happened and I understand you can't speak of it, but I just want to ask how my wife and I can ever thank you?! We heard the most awful noises last night! If it hadn't been for your help, I can only imagine what would have become of us if we had encountered…..whatever that was!"

Severus spoke seriously as he answered, "You can promise not to say a word about any of this to anyone…….regarding the evacuation."

"Of course, sir!" Mr. Williamson nodded, "Of course! Thank you! Thank you for your kindness!"

It was difficult for Severus to slip out his wand and cast a memory charm on the good-hearted muggle man in front of him, but he knew it was a necessary endeavor.

Severus knew that the muggle press had already come to take photographs.

The Williamsons' farm made for good news, but not extended coverage material.

Severus cast an enchantment around the property to make it appear destroyed for a believable amount of time so suspicion would not be aroused.

After he left, Mr. Williamson went back inside and continued on with his life, with no memories of the past twenty-four hours that involved Officer Shabinham or his farm.

Severus didn't want to leave those recollections in the muggle's brain, on the chance that Voldemort learned of his escapade and descended upon the family.
