Hey guys!

A little bit of interesting history around this chapter: this was accidentally deleted some time ago so I had to remake the whole thing from scratch. But recently, Spellweaverdrive managed to find the original document of chapter six on the net! Due to my browser being unable to find the web address it's on, he uploaded the whole thing in the PM. Since then I've updated this chapter with the missing material to bring you the 2.0 version of chapter 6!

Give a huge thanks to Spellweaverdrive for finding a lost piece of this story's history!

Chapter 5

New Player in Town

MUSUTAFU SEWER SYSTEM-SEVERAL HOURS LATER

The sewage splashed against the Doomslayer's boots as he trudged through the fetid waters of the sewer system. The Slayer made sure to keep up a brisk pace in case anyone tried to search for him. The winding, almost labyrinth tunnels of the sewers would prove daunting and confusing for just about anyone else but thankfully his HUD gave him a comprehensive layout of the sewer system. He made sure to travel as deep as he could so he could avoid any areas that would be frequently visited by sewer workers.

As he went down the tunnel, his thoughts went back to Shigaraki. Would it have been better to kill him right there and then? It wasn't like him to just torment the guy, usually, he'd just off him as he did to any other Demon. The Slayer scolded himself for that as he knew it would eventually come back to bite him on the ass. Shigaraki and this League of Villains organization were going to be an obstacle for him somewhere up the road.

/It is safe to say that your actions at the shopping mall have labeled you a Vigilante. The authorities will be sending Heroes and police officers to apprehend you./

Ungrateful pricks. At least he saved those kids.

/My scans have revealed a disused subway station abandoned since the 1970s approximately 50 miles beneath our current position. It will serve as an ideal location to stay low and determine our next course of action. Marking the waypoint on your HUD now./

The Slayer expected his "hideout" to be more hospitable than the cold confines of the UAC corridors or the shit-soaked sewers he was currently wading through. He initially wanted a place to stay somewhere in Japan but it looks like that wasn't going to happen due to his actions. The Slayer followed the map until he came to the end of the tunnel, looking down the deep shaft where the waypoint would lead him deeper into the sewer system. Standing near the edge with the stream of sewer water spilling over the edge like a waterfall, he jumped out of the pipe and descended into the dark shaft knowing that his Impact Compensation system would cushion the fall. Not that he needed it, he could easily survive any fall even without the suit.

Also, he could've used the ladder conveniently placed near the pipe but where was the fun in that?

MUSUTAFU POLICE STATION

Toshinori Yagi patiently sat in the office chair, idly drumming his fingers on the armrest. He was currently in the police station's surveillance room where they would look over camera footage found at crime scenes so they could better ascertain the situation or root out a possible suspect. Waiting alongside him in the room were Detective Naomasa Tsukauchi and the Chief of Police, Kenji Tsuragamae.

Naomasa was a man in his early thirties with smooth black hair and dressed in a simple white dress shirt with a tie and dark brown pants. He, along with Kenji, was some of the very few people who knew about Yagi's condition and arch-nemesis. Kenji was a bit of an odd one. His most distinguishing feature was the fact that he had the head of a Beagle as a result of his Quirk. Besides that, he was a decorated officer serving well into his late forties and wore a black suit and black pants with a Dalmatian-styled tie.

After Naomasa finished interviewing Izuku Midoriya after the mall incident, he relayed the information over to Yagi, and they, along with Kenji headed to the surveillance room to look over the camera footage. But they wanted to wait for two Pro Heroes Kenji called in who previously met the armored man earlier in the day.

The door to the room opened and the Rabbit Heroine stepped in with the BMI Hero following behind her.

"Ah, Ms. Rumi! Just the Hero we wanted to see!" Kenji kindly greeted her.

"Pleasure." Rumi smiled as she shook Kenji's hand. "Sorry if I kept you guys waiting. Fatgum saw a Takoyaki stand on the way here and held me up."

"I couldn't resist!" Came the bashful voice of Taishiro as he tried to fit his way through the door. "Plus the line was pretty long."

"Not to worry, we weren't timing you two at all if that was what you were wondering," Naomasa assured them. "Now, you two met this man in your reports earlier this morning?"

"Yeah, he helped us stop a purse snatcher earlier. Actually, 'help' might be subjective at this point. The crook had to be taken to the hospital; his wrist was so badly damaged it'll be a miracle if he ever gains full motor control in that hand." Fatgum explained.

"At first I thought he was an on-duty Hero," Miruko spoke up. "Then it hit me: I never saw this guy before in the Pro Hero Registry. I was gonna ask him a few questions but he had already high-tailed it out of there. I double-checked the Registry to see if I could find him but it turns out that no Hero even matches his description." She added. Her expression then darkened. "And then he blew up half a mall and tore someone's arm off. I came too late; he was already gone."

"It wasn't some random civilian if that's what you were thinking. It was Tomura Shigaraki: the leader of the League of Villians." Yagi announced as he fixed his tie. He spun his chair around and began to type something into the keyboard.

"Wait, you mean the same guy who led the U.S.J. invasion?" Fatgum asked.

"The one and only." Naomasa confirmed. "We're going to bring up the camera footage from the mall to see what we can learn from it."

"Don't keep us in suspense then. Roll the clip mister…?" Miruko started while asking for Yagi's name.

"Toshinori Yagi. I'm with the All Might Agency." That was a cover story. He couldn't just tell every Hero his true identity, especially Endeavor. The large monitor in front of them switched on and showed the entrance to the Kiyashi Ward shopping mall. So far there was nothing out of the ordinary until a certain someone came into view.

"There. That's the guy." Fatgum pointed at the screen.

Walking through the entrance was the man himself. Yagi leaned forward to get a closer look at the screen. There was no question about it; this man fit Izuku's description of him earlier in the day before he left for the mall. As dozens of questions buzzed around in his head, he noticed that the man seemed…lost. Almost like he didn't have any idea where he was. A foreigner, perhaps?

Naomasa narrowed his eyes; analyzing every frame of the suspect as he walked through the crowd. The detective figured that he had to be very strong if his size was of any indication. The armor the man was wearing looked far too advanced to be simple riot armor. Judging by the way it covered his whole body and how bulky it looked, it had to weigh at least several pounds.

Kenji stared hard at the man as he walked through the crowd. That armor he was wearing was unlike anything he had ever seen before in his career on the force. It appeared to be technologically augmented in some way. As he watched the man, trying his best to get a bead on his personality, Kenji's eyes drifted over to the odd symbol emblazoned on the corner of the man's helmet. He wasn't sure why but something about it made the hairs on his beagle face stand on end.

Miruko and Fatgum tensed up when they saw him walk through the densely packed crowd. They remembered how badly mangled the thug's wrist looked and they were worried that the armored Vigilante would suddenly lash out at someone. The two of them were never one to judge anyone but one look at that guy from their encounter in the park made them feel uneasy. They really should've questioned him sooner.

Silently observing the man walking through the crowd, they watched him come to a halt when he noticed something up ahead. He then started to head back to the entrance but stopped again to look behind him. Yagi switched the camera footage to where he was looking and the screen showed an overhead shot of a bench area revealing a man dressed in a black hoodie sitting next to a young boy with green hair.

"That's him. The one in black is Tomura Shigaraki." Yagi pointed at the screen as Fatgum and Miruko looked over his shoulder. The Rabbit Heroine wrinkled her nose when she saw his face.

"Yeesh, that's what he looks like?" She remarked. "Now that's a face for radio."

"What's he doing to that kid?" Fatgum asked when he noticed Tomura's hand around the boy's throat.

"That's a U.A. Student; Shigaraki was interrogating him." Kenji answered with a tone of unease. Yagi felt a bead of sweat roll down the side of his head. From what Izuku told him, All for One had found a protégé of his own and the ramifications of this revelation were dire. It was almost as if All for One was copying him in some bizarre, twisted manner as if to further insult Nana Shimura's memory. He was snapped out of his internal conflict when he noticed the man cracking his neck and marching towards Shigaraki. Everyone in the room tensed up, bracing themselves for what was about to unfold.

Fatgum gulped worriedly. "Ooooooh boy. Here we go."

The man closed the distance and he grabbed Tomura by the head; instantly slamming him down into the cobblestone ground and furiously punching his face before flinging him into a store like a ragdoll. Yagi switched the camera footage to show the interior of the store where the armored man began brutalizing him.

"He's relentless…he's not giving him any time to retaliate." Naomasa observed as he watched the man slam Tomura's head into a display case repeatedly.

"Doesn't surprise me. One's built like a tank and the other is as skinny as a toothpick." Miruko commented as the brute flung Tomura through a wall and into another store. Switching the camera footage again, Yagi mentally remarked that Shigaraki did not fare well in direct combat. From what he could gather from his encounter with him during the U.S.J. Villain Invasion, Shigaraki preferred to let his underlings do the work so he could move in and use his disintegration Quirk. But now he was pulled out of his element by this hulking devastator.

The camera showed the battered Tomura struggling to stand; spotting a frightened elderly citizen cowering behind a clothing rack. The Villain bolted towards him in an attempt to take him hostage, much to the concern of everyone in the room. Luckily for them, or rather unluckily for Shigaraki, his assailant emerged from the hole in the wall and reached towards his hip to pull out a pistol-like weapon.

"Pause the footage. Zoom in on that weapon." Kenji ordered Yagi as he pressed the pause button. The Camera got a close-up of the weapon the man was wielding and it was the strangest weapon anyone had ever seen. Its sleek design made it impossible to tell which manufacturer it was made from. Naomasa leaned in for a closer look at the gun and saw the Kanji imprinted onto the grip of the pistol.

"No Sword…" Naomasa read.

Kenji rubbed his chin in curiosity as he studied the gun. He was able to accurately identify any type of weapon on the spot due to being in the force for 30 years but it was the strangest gun he had ever seen. And why did it glow blue?

"Hold on, where did he whip that out? I didn't see any pockets on him." Fatgum squinted at the screen. Yagi replayed the footage of the suspect drawing out his weapon and was mildly surprised to watch him pull it straight out of thin air.

"Well, I think it's safe to say that he's a Quirk-user." Yagi surmised as he rubbed his chin in curiosity. He pressed a key to resume the footage and everyone nearly jumped in shock to see a bolt of light shot out of the weapon and bore straight through Shigaraki's hand! Yagi paused the footage again.

"Pardon my French but is that a fucking laser gun?!" Miruko blurted out as she jabbed a finger at the screen.

"W-we can't be sure if it's really a-" Naomasa tried to reason before he was cut off by Fatgum.

"It's a real laser gun, man! It's not special effects, it's real!" Fatgum proclaimed widely as he waved his arms around.

Yagi and Kenji stared at the screen in wonder but still in a state of shock. Even though they all lived in a world where superheroes were a real-life occurrence, and in the year 2149 no less, humanity was unable to create laser-based weaponry. Granted, there were Quirk users out there that had very rare energy-based abilities and despite numerous technological advances from I-Island in recent years, the top scientists and defense contractors of the world were incapable of creating weapons that should only exist in science fiction. But then this man came along, wielding what could very well be the first fully-functioning energy weapon in the world. But did he create it himself or did he steal it from a classified research facility?

"We can discuss the gun at another time. Let's keep watching." Kenji said and Yagi pressed the play button.

They watched Tomura grip his hand which now had a hole through it with cauterized flesh around it. The suspect booted Shigaraki into a wall and in a fit of desperation; surged towards the man with his hand outstretched in an attempt to use his disintegration Quirk on him. But that's when the man grabbed him by the arm and-

"HOLY-!"

"OH MY-!"

"DAMN!"

"GOOD LORD!"

The armored man ripped off Tomura's arm like it was a tree branch and the Villain started screaming his head off as he tried to staunch the bleeding! But the Vigilante wasn't done yet. He grabbed Tomura again but this time, to everyone's horror, began viciously batter him across the face with Tomura's severed arm! It was a truly horrific sight they were all watching: blood flew everywhere as the Vigilante clubbed him again and again and again. He pummeled him force of a baseball bat as blood splashed into the security camera lens and stained the store interior. It was sickening and horrifying in its brutality.

"Son of a bitch….!" Miruko breathed in shock.

"What kind of human being does that?!" Fatgum gagged as he backed away from the screen while trying his hardest not to throw up.

Yagi felt his knuckles turn white as he swallowed the lump in his throat. He remembered Izuku and his friends had got a front-row seat to this and he could only imagine what was going through their poor minds. The final hit propelled Shigaraki out the window and Yagi switched the footage again. Tomura tried in vain to crawl away but the lunatic was already upon him, placing his boot on his back and pulling out a shotgun-like weapon of unknown design. He aimed it at the back of Shigaraki's head and would've pulled the trigger if he hadn't been interrupted by Izuku and his friends who desperately implored him not to kill the villain.

"Kid's got a pair of solid steel balls." Miruko playfully smirked, impressed by his bravado. Yagi felt the same; touched by Izuku's willingness to stop the madman. It didn't matter if Shigaraki was a dangerous Villain; Midoriya was brave enough to stop the man from brutally executing him. He knew that Midoriya's heart was in the right place: it was one of the many reasons why that young man was more than worthy of bearing the mantle of One for All. Being a Hero meant standing up for what was right, even if it meant stopping someone from wrongfully killing your worst enemy.

Suddenly, everyone saw a man wearing black sneaking up from behind one of the students and holding her as a hostage. The camera zoomed in just as he lifted his face to reveal his horrendous visage.

"Cripes, and I thought Shigaraki was ugly." Miruko shuddered.

"Did we run facial recognition on this man?" Kenji asked Naomasa, his eyes never leaving the hooded Villain.

"We did but we couldn't find any matches." Naomasa shook his head.

The disfigured Villain, who was most likely Shigaraki's accomplice, began to bargain with the armored man; he would let the girl go if he handed over Shigaraki. But the man clearly wasn't having any of it and he swapped out his shotgun for another one of his weapons.

"An assault rifle too? How many toys does he have in there?" Miruko tilted her head.

"What assault rifle uses belt-fed fifty caliber rounds?" Naomasa rhetorically asked as he took a closer look at the weapon.

What followed was an intense standoff between the Vigilante and Tomura's flunky. The man still had his foot planted on Tomura while the Villain held a hand covered in blue flames close to Uraraka's face. Their eyes were glued to the screen as several tense seconds passed. Yagi noticed Uraraka slowly pointing to her hand while nodding to her friends. Before anyone could react, the Villain holding her was propelled up into the air off-screen.

"Woah! How'd she do that?" Fatgum wondered.

"It's her Quirk: Zero Gravity. It allows her to manipulate the flow of gravity of whatever object she touches." Yagi explained.

"Now that you mention it, I think I remember seeing her during the Sports Festival." Miruko reminisced as she looked over Yagi's shoulder.

The suspect then kicked Tomura at the suspended cohort out of view and to everyone's surprise, fired a stream of missiles at them from a compartment on the side of the rifle. Since there was no camera footage of what was happening in the air, everyone could only look on in confusion when a burst of blue fire emanated from above that was followed by several smaller explosions. The camera was able to show Shigaraki and his henchman fall into view right through the window of a store. Putting away his assault rifle, the armed man pulled out-

"A BAZOOKA!?" Fatgum shouted out, startling everyone. "WHO CARRIES A BAZOOKA?!"

The weapon fired a burst of three rockets which hurdled towards the store Shigaraki and his cohort had landed in. But suddenly, a black portal made entirely of a smog-like substance materialized out of nowhere behind them! Everyone recognized the smoke as the same one the Villain Kurogiri used during the U.S.J. Villain Invasion. The two Villains were pulled into the miasma of darkness just before the missiles hit the store and lit up the mall in a blinding explosion.

The camera immediately cut to static and Yagi changed the camera footage for the final time which showed the man putting away his rocket launcher. He eerily turned his head towards Izuku and his terrified classmates who backpedaled away from him. After a few seconds, he ran in the other direction and disappeared from view. Yagi paused the footage and a long period of silence dominated the room.

"Naomasa, put out a Vigilante Advisory. We have an exceptionally violent case on our hands." Kenji ordered.

"Violent?! Try completely insane!" Fatgum repeated incredulously. "What if there was someone in that store? What if a stray bullet hit a bystander? That guy had no regard for anybody who could've been caught in the crossfire!"

"All the more reason why we need to kick his ass and haul him off to prison." Miruko affirmed with an eager grin while popping her knuckles. "I should've questioned him when we met; that's the last time anyone plays me for a fool." And with that, the Rabbit Heroine bounded out of the room to resume her patrols.

Fatgum hurried as fast as he could after her but not before giving a salute to the others. "I'll be sure to relay the news over to the other Heroes. Good luck with your investigation!"

As he closed the door behind him, the remaining three turned back towards the screen. "So what do you think, Toshinori?" Kenji asked inquisitively.

Yagi rewound the footage to the beginning where the Vigilante entered the mall. He grimly slumped in his seat. "Whoever this man is, he's just painted a huge target on his back. All for One is not going to take this lying down."

"Indeed. It's obvious he sees Tomura as his protégé." Kenji assessed in a worried tone. "He'll want retribution for this, that's for sure."

"But we don't know if Shigaraki is still alive after that." Naomasa pointed out. "The sheer blood loss alone would be enough to kill a man."

"Whether or not he may still be alive we don't know for certain. All we can do is be prepared if they make their move." Yagi said as he looked at Naomasa. "Where are we keeping Shigaraki's arm?"

"We recently moved it to a special wing in the evidence room. It's stored inside a container of preservation fluid and there's been no sign of his Quirk having any effect." Naomasa explained before he realized what Yagi was getting at. "Wait…you don't think the League of Villains might try to retrieve it, do you?"

"They might but we'll just have to be on guard in case they do." Yagi shook his head, unsure of himself.

"But what about our Vigilante problem?" Kenji reminded them. "We still don't know his identity or anything else. One thing I have noticed is that he fights almost similarly to an elite soldier. He could be some form of special forces though his brutality is another story altogether."

"Do you think he's a foreign agent?" Naomasa asked.

Kenji could only shrug. "Not sure. He's officially a Vigilante now and we need to be on our toes if he ever resurfaces. He's clearly a dangerous threat to everyone around him, not to mention that we have to be mindful of Endeavor if he learns about this. You all know what his views on Vigilantism are like."

Naomasa and Yagi glanced at each other. It didn't take much for the Flame Hero to hold a grudge against someone who committed a felony, even the smallest kind. Yagi sighed as he looked toward the screen. He knew that not only would All for One be targeting this man but also other Heroes as well since Vigilantism was illegal. But he did not forget about Midoriya's account of his first meeting with this mysterious individual. While it was understandable that this man was a dangerous, unpredictable, and vicious felon that had to be arrested, he did manage to save Izuku and didn't attempt to take a shot that could've cost Uraraka's life. But who was he? Pressing a button on the keyboard, the camera zoomed in on the Vigilante's visor. He looked a litter closer at the visor and could just barely make out the man's stony, perpetually wrathful glare.

It was almost like he was staring directly at him.

To be continued…

I had a good time making the Heroes' reactions towards the Doomslayer. Just wait till they find out he's a Demigod! Sometime in the future, I do want to make a chapter that has him fight his way through some Heroes but in a way where he takes them down non-lethally because we all know he's not the type of person that just kills whatever or whoever is in his way.

Don't forget to review but please don't flame!
