Author's Note: Okay so anyone who is somewhat familiar with Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya has some idea of what kinds of things Kuro likes to do with her free time, particularly if you've seen the OVA's. Chapter 11: Sword Hero Shopping
Knocking the beast down a peg had been a long and brutal battle, one they were not prepared to fight. Even he, the Shield Hero, had barely gotten out of there alive.
"Are you going to be okay?" Natalia asked as she sat the Vassal hammer down and let out a exhausted sigh.
"We're getting too old for this Mamoru." She was starting to get up there in years, grey hair being woven with brown in a braid.
"Nothing that I'm not use to by now." Gods he was getting tired, more of the world on the other side was appearing by the day, the fight against their Vassal Axe Hero nearly cost him a arm if not for Fitoria blocking the blow with her carriage. "How many years have we been doing this Natalia? It isn't even a wave anymore, just a big freaking ocean with the other world reflected in it's surface. It's going to be a hell storm trying to get everything settled up and me and Wendelin aren't going to be enough at this rate. Killing Byakko was the straw that broke the camel's back." Mamoru held up the swath of shield shaped leather carved from Byakko's back as he let out a sigh.
"Woo..." Kuro let out a low whistle after seeing the history behind the Shield of the Beast King.
Siltvelt had no shortage of shields on display, apparently examples of the more powerful shield's that the Legendary shield Heroes of yore have integrated into their arsenal, ignorant of the history they had put on display, and the state secrets. This was definitely going to be needing some clarifying down the line but first thing was first.
"What kind of monster was this Byakko anyway?" Kuro asked aloud while she walked down the hallway to her room. "That shield has barely been treated with any preservatives. What kind of leather lasts two thousand years?" Perhaps that question wasn't half as important as the people who managed to kill it. "This world is lucky there's no holy grail war. If people of that level of power are common place throughout this world's history then the waves would be the least of their worries."
Kuro arrived in the guest room that the old turtle had provided for her, it was neither the largest nor the most luxurious, but it did sit in the side of the castle that faced the church. Based on the light show she got back in Melromarc the dragon hourglass would announce her status as the legendary sword hero for the entire kingdom to see and she knew it better than most what would happen. She has no time or energy to spare on beating these stupid people off with a ugly stick because she's not their preferred Hero while trying to deal with their wave for them. When night did come Kuro went to work. How generous of Melromarc's shadows to provide her with the blueprint for their signature disguise belt accessories so that she can turn herself invisible at whim and sneak along into the church for a little bit of fun. After she registered with the wave Kuro planned on using her power to see history to find the biggest OCD bloke in the entire church and move his entire work place off by half a inch, about as much as she can do without getting caught. That was the plan anyway, but she suspected that she might wake up the creature standing guard over the hourglass. Creature was the right term if she wasn't mistaken, if only because there was not yet a term to describe the mishmash of parts someone had thought was a good idea to stitch together using selective breeding. It, whatever it could be called could even be called cute, sleeping peacefully in a nest of blankets and pillows. They slept with no weapons and there fore Kuro could not see their history, for that matter did he, she or it even need one? Demi-humans have the power to assume the form of monsters, and this one was bred to be more monstrous than most. It was precisely this pile of unknown factors that made Kuro tip tow around the creature until she could get close enough to the Dragon's Hourglass to register and then leave this place before it woke up. It was the very moment that Kuro got close enough to register with the dragon's hourglass that she learned the measures this creature had taken to prevent that exact scenario from occurring since she felt a small hand grip her invisible foot.
"Are you the sword hero?" A tired voice asked looking directly at Kuro who was holding the legendary sword up to the Dragon's Hourglass and finished with it's registration.
"...no."
Werner pored the tea for his colleague from the Genmu tribe.
"She said she planned on sneaking out tonight." Werner said caution in his tone of voice for the implications that it carried. "I understand her need for movement but caution is needed." With the wave on the horizon the most devastating blow that could be dealt to them would be through the Dragon's hourglass, it needed to be protected therefore guards would be posted. "Even if she is discovered, who would be mad enough to attack a Legendary Hero?"
Something crashed and was blown away outside indicating the start of a raging battle going on outside.
"I suspect that the answer to your question is in that direction." The Genmu stated as he got up to investigate the commotion outside.
So pop quiz, what does a Therianthrope transformation look like for someone whose 'human' form, between the tail, wings, and hooves already looks to be more monster then human. Well then making them grow three feet not including the spontaneous antlers, double in width, cover themselves in scaly body armour and take to the sky seems like a pretty sound start. Course then you follow that up by having them unleash multiple magic attacks such as fire, lightning and water to smash into the ground in various different locations across the street. Kuro was doing her best, read barely, to fend off the attacks having already copied a lantern shield, essentially a sixteenth century fusion of Gauntlet, shield and sword given to patrolling soldiers on the night shift so that they could still fend off a ambush if attacked in the middle of the night. She paired that defensive power with the lightning sword as she did her best to fend off the club tail from Siltvelt's mutated abomination and it's many different magic attacks.
"This." Kuro jumped up from where she had been standing when the street suddenly turned into a mass of skewering spikes. "Would be Easier." Kuro had to get out of the way when the creature picked up a chunk of the the wrecked church and threw it at her. "If you'd just shut up!" Kuro switched over to a great sword as she used both hands to smash the building chunk away.
The creature produced three magic spears at once, water lightning and fire, which it then proceeded to combine together to create a singularly huge spell of burning blue flames which it was then preparing to chuck at her like a javelin.
"Ahem!" A familiar turtle man clapped his hands together prompting both combatants who looked like they were about to try and kill each other to turn their attention to look directly at him. "Isn't this too late a hour for individuals of your age to be out and about?" The two children had a look around at the area at the destruction wreaked upon the area and just stared at each other for just a few moments.
"So this is the Sword Hero?" Jaralis asked watching as Kuro was eating milk and cookies alongside his grandson like she hadn't just nearly caused a massive diplomatic incident.
"That would appear to be the case." Werner stated looking more tired than anyone here.
"Why does she have Hakuko ears?" Jaralis asked trying and failing to wrap his head around this situation.
"I'll have you know that cat ears are extremely common where I come from!" The Jaralis's little monster reached over and plucked Kuro's cat ears off of her head and sat them down on the table. "I said that they were common not that they're attached to people's heads."
"Did you bring her here to fight the wave?" Jaralis asked deciding to ignore Kuro's blatant mockery.
"Yes. Although given the 'warm reception' Melromarc gave to the shield she rightfully wished to remain out of the spotlight less the more radical factions take a swing at her." The old Turtle stated as he drank his tea and ignored the political storm that was brewing.
"Hence the ears." Kuro stated leading to Jaralis to note that another pair of Hakuko ears had appeared on her head in spite of the head band still in his grandson's paws.
"Huu..." Jaralis took a deep sigh as he looked up at the sky and seemingly prayed to be delivered from this madness. "The wave is in two days, make sure she's ready to fight." Jaralis's crude attempt at breeding a Chimera saluted while he left the room.
"What other madness do you have planned child?" The old Turtle stated looking directly at Kuro with tired eyes.
"Shopping." Kuro stated bluntly. "I haven't been able to change my clothes in a week, in part because this is the only set that I have."
Chem, working name until Kuro can get the kid to tell her his name, was made to wait outside as Kuro entered the first store on her list. Why? Because this was a women's clothing store.
"Hmm." Kuro's fake tiger ears started to twitch as she was having a look at the underwear on display, because again a week without having changed out of what she came here in. "There's a hole in the panties. Well that's what you get from a store that tailors to Demi-humans."
Kuro took her purchases over to the clerk, a burly dog man with no business in the cute feminine clothes he was wearing, and dropped them on the counter to buy them. White silk best suited Kuro's complexion, even if almost no one was going to see them, so that's what she got for underclothes. For more casual wear, the influence of heroes was worn on the sleeve around here so she picked up a few sailor uniforms. They also offered magical clothes for transformation but those apparently had to be tailored made and Kuro didn't need them.
"Excuse me." Kuro waved over the clerk's attention while he was sorting through her purchases. "Do you happen to know where I should go for some premium armour around here?"
Like the clothing store the Demi-human black smith also made it abundantly clear what kind of clientele he tailored to. Firstly was the stuffed animals that wouldn't be out of place on the side of a child's bed. At first Kuro thought that was what they were until she had a closer look with her magical vision and saw that these were in fact items to alter one demi-human transformation into another.
"Well now that's interesting." Kuro's fake tail was flicking as she pondered in thought. "That one." The Hakuko kigurumi. "And that one." The Shukaku Kigurumi. Ignoring the confused clerk Kuro had a look at the armour next.
"Oh that's clever, that's very clever." Folding plate armour, armour designed specifically so that when the person inside of it suddenly grows three dress sizes from a transformation the armour is able to unfold outwards and still offer full protection for the wearer. The weapons were also built for similar oversized transformations, with over grown long swords and giant halberds and shield's the size of a castle Gate. "Don't mind if I do." Still utterly useless for her by the way, so instead Kuro just bought a few sparkly bits. "Yosh. Got everything I needed."
After clothing came bathing, because she was sweaty, filthy and unwashed. Chem was still obediently staying far out of sight where he couldn't see Kuro, which was really a shame as she would enjoy teasing the wholesome little monster.
"Haaa... Japanese bath's are the best!" Kuro slunk into the water ears and tail still attached to her, it was better then to ask how. Still while idly practising water magic Kuro thought over the events yet to come. "I wonder what the wave boss is going to be like?" Kuro closed her eyes as she thought over which beast she could be up against. "The last one I fought was Greek, maybe Eqyptian would be good?"
Once Kuro was eventually clean she dressed herself in one of the sailor uniforms she bought as opposed to putting on her old armour, she hadn't the chance to work on the new one yet. Every night since coming to the new world Kuro has been copying blades from the unlimited blade works into the legendary sword. Every type she could think of, in every material that she knew could be reasonably shaped into a blade, she'd have to start copying Heroic phantasms at this rate. Or just do what the others were probably doing right now and massacre a few hundred monsters for materials. Oh that reminded her.
"Yo turtle geezer." Kuro stated hand being waved in the air as she rode in the carriage to some place that was apparently thick with monsters. "I've got a super easy idea on how to unlock lots of forms for the legendary sword."
"Isn't that what we're doing now?" The Genmu asked looking at Kuro with blatant suspicion.
"Yes, but every time I hit a mile stone on this thing I get a new skill that lets me take control of and puppet about increasingly larger numbers of blades made out of spiritual energy. Not to mention that every new blade I unlock gives me a tiny boost to my stats that'll eventually add up to a mountain." Kuro stated smirking in a manner that stated she expected the Genmu to connect the dots on this one.
"The arrangement?" The Genmu asked brow cocked in interest.
"We get all the demi-human tribes to donate blood and hair to the legendary sword, that would be at least two new swords for every species of Demi-human." Kuro explained bluntly.
"They aren't likely going to want to take action that empowers the Sword Hero you do know this yes?" The Genmu asked looking at Kuro as if she had grown a second head. "Then tell them it's for Maple instead. I'll give her whatever's left over after I'm finished unlocking swords as soon as I see her again." Kuro stated the look on her face that of someone who thought that their logic was completely infallible. Eventually the turtle nodded in the affirmative. "Good to know. But in the mean time I have a genocide to conduct."
"In that outfit?" The old Turtle stated glancing to the monster infested forest. "You do realise that this isn't a game right?"
"Nope. It's a shooting gallery." Kuro's reward for unlocking 100 weapon forms for her sword. "Hundred Swords!" The blades appeared above Kuro's head but that said she wasn't close to finished yet. "Change blade: Thunder Sword!" Two of the sparking blades hovered above Kuro's head while a third moved into the electrified arch that appeared between them. "Hey turtle. Ever heard of a rail gun before?" The blade broke the sound barrier as it carved through the forest, both the enormously loud racket and ensuing trench of death carved through the forest utterly terrified the monsters into fleeing, being corralled as Kuro used the blades to cut off their escape route until they were all gathered into one convenient bundle.
"I personally recommend against such ludicrous destructive power young lady." The Genmu stated looking at the damage done to the forest and clamping down at the destruction of the environment of his country. "Half the reason why we're here is for the material those creatures possess."
"I'm aware, I'm just corralling them a little." Kuro stated as she looked at her Mana gauge. "Damn almost out." Before he could do so much as offer a mana potion Kuro reached over and grabbed the old man by the collar of his shirt and kissed him on the lips. Unable to comprehend what was going on the old Turtle could only watch helplessly as his mana was drained out of him and into Kuro. "There we go, that's better." The lifeless but still alive body of the old turtle fell out of the carriage exhausted while Kuro prepared to make the hundred swords look like she was flinging butter knives.
"I, the Sword Hero, have read and understood the origin of power." Soon a incantation that had never been heard of in this world started. Kuro had been changed by coming here and gaining the legendary sword, the new power interacting with something older and more deeply embedded. "Water is my blood and Steel my bones." Kuro inherited a Reality Marble from Emiya, a personalised pocket dimension unique to the person who wielded it, hers could originally be called a massive hill of weapons. But now though? A ocean of swords would be more appropriate: on account of all the water. "I have quenched 1000 swords..." A swirling spatial distortion appeared in the air above the forest, but this was no wave, at least not the kind that releases monsters into the world. "...now drown my targets in a sea of my own memories! All Liberation Sea Quench!" And so the literal and figurative dam finally burst, for Kuro opened the gates of the Unlimited Sword Sea and unleashed a flood into reality to drown the denizens of the forest.
"Kiyah!" And then Kuro passed out lightning passing through her body. When she did awaken again she was sleeping on the floor of the carriage.
"That was, interesting to say the least." Kuro turned to face the old man and Christ she hurts, that felt like she had drained every drop of magic in her body, her sword screamed at her to make her stop, and then she got pile-drived for good measure.
"It would appear that your world's magic and this one have yet to reach an arrangement." The Genmu still looked pale from Kuro sucking the mana out of him.
"I don't think I wanna broker a meeting again any time soon." Kuro stated scratching the side of her head.
"That wasn't exactly a very pleasant meet and greet for me either young lady." The Genmu stated looking at Kuro with blatant suspicion. "What did you do?"
"I created a ocean inside of the Unlimited Blade Works and dumped it on top of the forest using the water manipulation power granted to me by the legendary sword." The sound of crickets was audible throughout the carriage.
"Yes. Zero compatibility." The use of terms that he didn't recognise led the Genmu to the correct conclusion that whatever Kuro was she wasn't anything like he had ever seen before. "What does your status screen say?"
"Hang on." Kuro pressed a few buttons on her H.U.D. "Mana and Spirit is almost zero. Is that why I feel so tired still?" Speaking of which mana and spirit capacity had gone way up after all that levelling she just did. "Couldn't you have refilled my meters when I levelled up you cheap prick?"
"I think you've done enough level grinding for one night, and enough material harvesting." The Genmu stated indicating the five or so wagons full of uprooted trees and drowned monsters that he had his men pull out of the ruin that was the forest. None of it was even wet anymore, all the water had evaporated back into magical power in a manner not native to this world. "I suggest you take your materials and leave for the city before you drown another forest you miserable Succubus. If you are still feeling tired when you get there I suggest rest, and if still tired when you awake in the morning I recommend mana and spirit potions."
Kuro fed the materials from the harvest to her sword and left for the castle town to ponder her thoughts. Was that feeling she felt from the legendary sword the same rejection it gives off when she uses the weapons of unlimited blade works instead of it, or was it something else at play, her mana and spirit had been drained and showed no sign of rebuilding, as if they were busy with some other meter that she didn't know about as well. Curious. But onto other matters.
First was armour. Kuro laid out the materials in her room after locking the door. The first was the Shukaku Kigurumi, which she then magically dismantled and re-assembled into a new red cloak full of fire and magic resistance but in much better shape than the rags she use to wear. Kuro didn't want to run around the battlefield in tasteful near nudity, but it turns out skipping on certain parts the creation process for her armour and weapons meant a incomplete process. That and Ruby who designed it in the first place was a huge pervert but then again so is she. Next was the silk she bought, spider, and the pile of coal she took from the mountain she carved through. The coal was dismantled on a molecular level and reassembled into graphene and carbon nanotubes, it was then integrated with the spider silk turning it black in the process and giving the added benefits of approximately three times the original strength and ten times the toughness of pure silk, which considering the fact that it already had the tensile strength of steel, that was pretty damned hard.
"Should I go with a round shape or flat shape?" Kuro pondered it in her mind about what round armour and flat armour would look like on her. "Hmm. Round would be too cumbersome, better go with flat."
And so Kuro put together the combination of armour and coat. Now that that was settled there was the matter of sleepwear to tend to.
"Christ it feels like it's been ages since I've gotten to play with myself."
Kuro put on the lingerie she got from the clothing store, she wasn't even going to touch the implications of it being in child size and instead opted to move on. She cut the leggings, arms, tail and ears from the Hakuko kigurumi and put them on next, attaching the ears to a head band she made using some of the ore, and the tail to a string of chained metal golf balls that she attached a enchantment to make them vibrate, the leggings were secured in place via a garter belt while Kuro gave a brief sigh of pleasure to the balls being secured in place. The final touch a collar with a metal tag on it with her name printed on it.
"Hmm." Kuro conjured a mirror so that she could look at herself in the mirror. In short, she looked exactly like what she was made to understand Hakuko looked like in human form, if they had been a eleven year old prostitute that is. "Should I cut holes into the bra and pants? I mean that is what this is for right?" Kuro already had her plan for this outfit worked out, first while Shiro was away she would sneak into his room wearing the outfit and play with herself for a few hours, then when he returned she would look at him face slacken with pleasure and invite him over with a 'Onee-sama' and Kuro's cringed and instinctively ducked as she was hit in the head with her own imagination. "Hmm. I guess I don't stand much of a chance like this. Maybe I should tweak my hormones a bit and grow them out." Kuro started playing with her breasts as she pondered the idea before a thought occurred.
"No wait, if I get too big would they even recognise me anymore? Hmm." Well it was always Kuro's plan to wear them down gradually anyway, she'd need to get a idea of when she would be getting back before she does anything drastic. "Well, it's not like I can do that with a audience anyway."
Kuro flooded the floor with salt water and used the lightning sword to electrocute the thugs that had broken into her room. Non fatally mind you, the sleeping potions and other drugs they had on them implied their goal was capture not kill. Besides, she had uses for them.
Review Section:
RonaldM40196867: I would say that it is self destructing, hasn't quite yet finished with it's temper tantrum yet.
Captain Imaginat: A surprisingly accurate breakdown of what I have in mind between Malty and Katarina.
drmcgraw186: I imagine that if Malty had any care about what her mother thought then she wouldn't do literally any of the things that she does.
Halo: I don't imagine that a quadruple combo would be necessary, one of the Hero's with high speed carrying Maple yes, but not a full blown Calvary battle.
setokayba2n: If you hate Malty then you're going to love her next appearance.
REiNozomi: True. Between Elena and Katarina? You do realise that one is over 20 and the other is only eight right? None of the other Heroes left Melromarc prior to Cal Mira in Canon, except maybe, and huge maybe there, to go to Zeltoble for the weapons and gladiator matches. Chewed up and spat out. Medea is more final boss material, still too soon for that I think. Long suffering attendant to somewhat ditzy rich girl who is kinda important to the future of the nation: sounds like it. Leaving with intent to return, but yes.
Xenvic: I sincerely doubt that. Unless they're inhuman a Hero should not be able to last longer than 150, 200 with access to a excessive amount of Yggdrasil but still, given the power of heroes I doubt one would not be summoned for long, especially during a war. Also since It's my story I'm allowed as many creative liberties as I feel I need.
Kisame Hoshigaki: True.
