When blackouts and backlash bar Volkner from entering his own gym, he decides to leave Sunyshore and seek out the mischievous Pokémon Rotom. A fun enough vacation, if it didn't involve changing his name, causing ungodly amounts of property damage and dealing with his feelings.

RealCynthia. Remembering Flint. *thread emoji 1/4 This is a picture of Flint and me at the Lily-of-the-Valley Conference sixteen years ago. An accident caused my Togekiss to suffer an injury in the first round that forced me to withdraw from the competition. It was the hardest decision I'd ever made, and I was devastated.

2/4 This guy heard me crying in the girls' bathroom and actually went in there to ask what was wrong. He didn't brush it off as drama. He didn't think how weird it would look. He was just legitimately concerned for another competitor and wanted to listen and help.

3/4 Flint won the tournament that year. He probably didn't sleep the entire week, between strategizing and checking on me. Later in life we'd meet again in the Champion's Arena. He wanted to beat me so badly. I had him in my schedule five days a week at one point. No one wanted to be Champion more than Flint Perilla.

4/4 There are still naysayers with Flint on the Four. Whether he deserved it. He never rematched a Four member. Always challenged me instead… and lost. But I recommended Flint not because of anything he did in battle (his skills as a trainer were obvious,) but because Flint was genuinely a good person who never gave up. He was a burning flame. He was my friend.
