Chapter Five
Siren's Call
Four hours had passed and there was no word from Blossom or Bubbles, and Buttercup was starting to worry. "What if Sedusa got 'em Maylyn? They could be in trouble, they might need me." Buttercup quietly said as she stared up at Maylyn.
"I'm sure they're fine Buttlyn, have faith in your sisters." Maylyn replied with a small smile.
"But Sedusa's crafty, she turned our dad against us once and it really messed with us. Even when we knew what was going on it still hurt when the professor completely ignored us for her, she can make men do anything for her. She's a horrible witch." Buttercup grumbled as she crossed her arms in a huff.
"Don't worry Buttlyn, Blossom and Bubbles have got this, they'll be fine." Maylyn replied with a smile.
"Uh." Ami quietly groaned as she slowly opened her eyes. "Oh my side, it hurts like hell." Ami quietly said as she put a hand on her side.
"You're awake!" Buttercup cheered as Maylyn walked her over to Ami.
"Hey Ami, how are you feeling?" Maylyn asked as she looked down at Ami.
"Achy. My side is killing me right now, could someone get the doctor please. I need something for the pain." Ami groaned as she looked down at her side. "Where are your sisters?" Ami asked as she looked around the room.
"They went after a villain named Sedusa, she lured the professor and the mayor somewhere." Buttercup explained with a sad expression.
"Why didn't you go with them?" Ami asked with a small frown.
"She was too hurt, she tried to follow but she collapsed before she could even take one step." Maylyn explained as she gently hugged Buttercup.
"That's right, I forgot about your injuries. How were Blossom and Bubbles doing, were they in a lot of pain from the chest compressions?" Ami quietly asked with a straight face.
"Not as much as I was, they're pretty okay." Buttercup replied with a smile.
"That's good. Ah, oh my god this hurts! Please get the doctor, I need morphine or something for the pain!" Ami begged as she clutched her side.
"Wait here Buttlyn, I'll go grab a doctor." Maylyn instructed as she set Buttercup on the chair by Ami's bed, then left the room.
"Do you wanna hold my hand Ami?" Buttercup quietly asked as she held her hand out to Ami.
"No, I'd probably crush it if I did! It really hurts Buttercup, Ami mommy's not feeling well at all." Ami cried as she grabbed the sides of the bed and held them in a death grip.
"It's okay Ami mommy, Maylyn will be back with a doctor shortly." Buttercup quietly said with a small smile.
"I wish Mako was here! I want my little lightning bug!" Ami cried in agony as she continued squeezing the sides of the bed frame.
"Calm down Ms, it's gonna be okay." A doctor calmly said as he rushed into the room with Maylyn.
"It hurts like hell!" Ami shouted as she glared at the doctor.
"Don't worry, this'll help." The doctor informed as he jabbed a needle into Ami and pushed the plunger down. "There, that should kick in real soon. Just try and breathe." The doctor instructed with a straight face.
"Okay! Okay." Ami replied as she started taking several rapid breaths.
"Just like that, keep breathing and just calm down. Easy does it." The doctor quietly said in a soothing tone. "Where did everyone go by the way?" The doctor asked as he looked at Buttercup and Maylyn.
"The mayor and professor were lured away by Sedusa, and my sisters and Ms. Bellum went after her." Buttercup answered with a small frown.
"S-Sedusa? That's the villain's name? What a dumb name for a villain." Ami said with a few breaths as she started to calm down.
"We told you that was her name." Maylyn informed with a small frown.
"Sorry, I'm a little out of it. Between the pain and the drugs I'm just kind of loopy." Ami quietly replied as she slowly closed her eyes. "We need to find your sisters and make sure they're okay." Ami quietly said in a soft tone.
"We will, but for now you need to rest. Besides, Ms. Bellum's on the job. She beat Sedusa once and she can do it again." Buttercup said with a smile and a small yawn.
"Guess I'm not the only tired one around here. You should rest Buttercup, you're gonna need your strength to take that villain on." Ami quietly said with a smile.
"Okay." Buttercup replied as she fell asleep in Maylyn's arms. While Ami and Buttercup slept, Blossom, Bubbles, and Ms. Bellum were in pursuit of Sedusa, but they were loosing her.
"Bubbles, go left and I'll go right! We'll cut her off in the middle!" Blossom ordered as she flew through a poorly lit warehouse of wooden crates.
"Okay!" Bubbles replied as she split off down a row of crates.
"Give us back the professor and mayor, Sedusa!" Blossom shouted as she soared down the other side of the wall of crates.
"Come and get them little girl!" Sedusa's voice echoed in response.
"Girls, wait up! It's too dark in here to be flying around blindly like this!" Ms. Bellum yelled as she watched Blossom and Bubbles speed off.
"Don't worry about us Ms. Bellum, just watch yourself! Sedusa could be anywhere in here!" Blossom yelled back as she continued flying around.
"You'll never stop me you little brats! Your father and this old man will be mine forever!" Sedusa shouted with a fit of maniacal laughter.
"Not if we have anything to say about it you big meanie!" Bubbles replied as she slowed down and looked around a bit.
"Better watch your step in here little girl, these crates can be unbalanced!" Sedusa shouted as she kicked a stack of crates. An ear piercing scream echoed through the warehouse, followed by the sound of tumbling wooden crates.
"Bubbles!" Blossom shouted as she dashed in the direction of Bubble's screams.
"So long brats!" Sedusa yelled with a laugh as she ran out an emergency exit.
"Bubbles!" Blossom yelled as she searched desperately for Bubbles.
"Blossom, I found her!" Ms. Bellum informed as she tossed a crate aside.
"You okay Bubbles?" Blossom asked as she helped dig Bubble's out of the avalanche of crates.
"That hurt." Bubbles cried as she rubbed her head.
"UH! She got away with the professor and mayor! What are we gonna do Ms. Bellum?" Blossom quietly asked as she looked up at Ms. Bellum.
"We'll regroup at the hospital for now, once Ami wakes up we can ask for her help. She might not be able to help physically, but she's very smart and might be able to help us find and trap Sedusa." Ms. Bellum answered as she held her hand out to Bubbles.
"Okay." Bubbles replied with a sniffle as she took Ms. Bellum's hand.
"Come on, let's get going." Blossom instructed as she floated towards the exit.
"Okay." Bubbles quietly said in a sad tone as she and Ms. Bellum followed Blossom.
"Don't worry girls, the professor's gonna be fine. We'll head back to the hospital and see how Ami's doing, if she's well enough we'll start making a plan on how to get your dad and the mayor back from that awful woman." Ms. Bellum encouraged as she got in her car, followed by Blossom and Bubbles.
"I hope Ami mommy feels better soon, I want the professor back!" Bubbles cried as she buried her face in her hands.
"Me to!" Blossom also cried with a rain of tears.
"It's okay girls, we'll get the professor back in no time. Now buckle up, we're going back to the hospital to check on Ami." Ms. Bellum instructed as she started driving away. The car ride was quiet, both puffs stared out separate windows with heartbroken expressions as they watched the city buildings come into view, then fade just as quickly. "We're here girls, let's go see how Ami's doing." Ms. Bellum quietly said as she parked the car and turned it off. The two puffs just nodded as they opened their doors and got out of the car.
"Ah!" Bubbles yelped as a bolt of lightning shot across the sky and thunder rumbled over the city.
"It's just a storm Bubbles, now come on." Blossom sighed as she slowly floated into the hospital with Ms. Bellum.
"Let's get to Ami's room girls, maybe she'll be awake finally." Ms. Bellum said with a straight face as she walked up to the elevator.
"I hope so, I want my Ami mommy." Bubbles cried as she followed Ms. Bellum.
"Me to." Blossom said with a sniffle as she did the same thing.
"I'm sure she'll be up and waiting for you girls." Ms. Bellum said with a smile as she pushed a button on the elevator and waited for the doors to open. The elevator dinged and the doors opened slowly. "Come on girls." Ms. Bellum said with a straight face as she gestured them onto the elevator. The puffs quietly obeyed and floated onto the elevator with Ms. Bellum. The doors closed and the elevator began to rise up, everyone sat silently, just listening to the low hum of the lights above them. With a ding the elevator came to a stop and the doors slowly opened.
"Come on, let's go see Ami mommy." Blossom quietly said as she lead Bubbles and Ms. Bellum off the elevator and down the hall towards Ami's room. "We're back." Blossom sighed as she floated into the room and sat in a chair.
"Guessing things didn't go so well." Maylyn quietly said with a sad expression as she stared at Blossom.
"NO! It went horribly, she got away! She took the professor and Mayor, and we couldn't stop her! She beat us, she took our daddy!" Blossom cried as she held her head in her hands.
"Girls?" Ami quietly said as she opened her eyes and looked at Blossom.
"I'm sorry Ami, I didn't mean to wake you up." Blossom apologized with a sniffle.
"It's okay. Why are you so upset, what happened?" Ami quietly asked with a small frown.
"Sedusa got away, she got away with the professor and mayor. We failed! We couldn't save them Ami, we couldn't save our daddy!" Blossom cried as she flew over to Ami and laid on her chest.
"Ah. Easy Blossom." Ami quietly said as she gently shifted Blossom's position. "It's okay girls, we'll get her. For now just rest as best you can. We'll be out of here by tomorrow and we'll find her together, then we'll make her pay for what she's done." Ami informed with a smile as she held an Arm out to Bubbles.
"But you're still hurt Ami." Blossom quietly said as Bubbles floated over to Ami and laid on her chest next to Blossom.
"I heal fast, especially when I have a job to do and people to save. It's part of my guardian powers. I'll be up and moving by tomorrow morning, then we'll hunt that witch down and save your dad and the mayor. Now get some rest girls, you're gonna need it for tomorrow." Ami quietly said as she closed her eyes.
"Yes Ami mommy." All three puffs replied as they closed their eyes and started to fall asleep.
"Are you gonna go home Maylyn?" Buttercup quietly asked as she snuggled against Maylyn.
"Nah, you need a lap to sleep on as well Buttlyn, and I don't think Ami's chest can hold anymore puffs." Maylyn chuckled as she gently rubbed Buttercup's head. "Goodnight Buttlyn, see ya in the morning." Maylyn quietly said as she closed her eyes.
"Goodnight Maylyn." Buttercup whispered as she fell asleep. Everyone slept for the rest of the night, though not very well. The puffs couldn't sleep peacefully knowing their dad was in danger, and Ami couldn't rest very well knowing the girls were suffering so much, but they all slept enough to function the next day.
"Girls, it's time. Let's get going." Ami instructed as she gently poked Blossom and Bubbles.
"How are you feeling today Ami?" Ms. Bellum asked with a straight face.
"Like we should do Sedusa the courtesy of bringing her a coffin before we get started." Ami growled as she sat up, watching Bubbles and Blossom float off her lap.
"I like this girl Buttlyn, she's rad." Maylyn said with a grin as she stood up with Buttercup in her arms.
"You girls feeling good today?" Ami asked as she got out of bed.
"Yeah!" All three puffs yelled with enthusiasm.
"Are you three ready to teach Sedusa why you don't mess with a Utonium?!" Ami yelled with a grin as she stared at the girls.
"Yeah!" The puffs answered as they threw their arms in the air.
"Then let's go kick that chick's butt and get the professor and mayor back!" Ami yelled as she started leaving the room.
"Yea-Oh! Um, Ami." Maylyn said in a shocked tone as she stared at Ami.
"Yes?" Ami asked as she turned around and stared at Maylyn.
"You planning on wearing that to the fight?" Maylyn asked with a smirk.
"Huh?" Ami asked as she looked down at herself, realizing she was wearing nothing but an opened back hospital gown. "Oh my god! Why didn't anyone tell me I was wearing something so open?!" Ami shouted as she covered her butt with her hands.
"You've been laying under a blanket since you got out of surgery, we didn't know." Maylyn answered with a grin. "Them buns made of steel though, we could use a rock like you on the team." Maylyn said with a grin as she walked up to Ami and spanked her.
"You're lucky Mako wasn't here to see that, she gets really jealous sometimes." Ami said with a grin as she stared at Maylyn.
"Get dressed Ami, we have to go save the professor and mayor!" Blossom yelled in a frantic tone.
"Right." Ami replied as she grabbed her clothes from a bag in the corner of the room, then ran into the restroom. After a couple of minutes Ami exited the restroom in her street clothes and ODM rig. "Alright, let's go get your dad and the mayor back." Ami said with a grin as she chambered her guns then stuffed them in her holsters.
"Kick her butt Ami mommy!" Bubbles yelled as she flew over by Ami.
"You good Buttercup?" Ami asked as she looked back at Buttercup.
"Yeah, I'm pretty good today. Just a little stiff, but I'll loosen up." Buttercup answered with a grin.
"That's my tough puff, now let's go pull the curtain on this siren's song." Ami said with a straight face as she lead everyone out of the room.
"Look at this Buttlyn, normally you're playing for the Derbytantes, but today I'm playing for the Power Puffs. Let's kick some villain butt Buttlyn!" Maylyn yelled as she held her fist out to Buttercup.
"Let's do it Maylyn!" Buttercup yelled with a smile as she fist bumped Maylyn.
"What about us?" Blossom asked with a grumpy expression.
"I could never forget you and Bublyn. Pound it girls!" Maylyn said with a grin as she fist bumped Bubbles and Blossom. "Ya know what Blossom, you and Ami need cool nicknames to. Because we're going in as a team of more than just three tough puffs. We've got three puffs, a super hero of some sort according to Buttlyn, and this crazy Derbytante." Maylyn said with a smile as she looked at everyone in the group.
"Let's just do what your team does. I'll be Blosslyn and Ami can be Amilyn." Blossom suggested as she looked at Maylyn.
"I like yours Blosslyn, but Amilyn doesn't really roll off the tongue too well. Maybe something like Aimlyn, because she aims for victory every time! What do you say Aimlyn?" Maylyn asked with a smile as she looked at Ami.
"I like it Maylyn, now let's aim for a win and the safe return of the professor and mayor." Ami replied with a smile as she lead everyone onto the elevator.
"Where are we gonna go though? Sedusa escaped from the warehouse and we have no idea where she went." Blossom asked with a small frown as she stared at Ami.
"We'll start there and see if we can find any clues as to where she might've gone. Unless you girls have an idea as to where she might be." Ami answered as she watched the floor level change.
"That's as good an option as any." Blossom replied with a smile.
"Alright, we'll head to the warehouse and scout it for clues. But stay in pairs, I don't want any of you going off on your own." Ami instructed as she stared at everyone.
"We can handle it Ami, we do this all the time." Blossom informed with a smile.
"I don't care, no one goes anywhere alone except me. Is that understood Blossom?" Ami asked as she looked directly at Blossom.
"But why Ami mommy?" Bubbles asked with a sad expression.
"Because warehouses are dangerous. They're dark, often cluttered, and have a lot of places where an enemy can set up an ambush. I should know since I've been in several of them over the past year, and I got in a firefight in one or two of them." Ami explained as she looked down at her guns.
"Why didn't you call the firefighters or use your water and ice powers?" Bubbles asked with a confused expression.
"I forget that you're kids sometimes." Ami said with a smile as she patted Bubble's head. "That's not what I meant by a firefight. It's a fancy term for a shoot out, where two or more people are shooting at each other with guns. It's a scary thing Bubbles, and I don't want any of you to have to go through that." Ami explained with a sad smile.
"But we can take it Ami, guns can't hurt us." Blossom informed with a smile.
"I don't care, no one but me goes off on their own under any circumstances. Understood?" Ami asked in a stern tone.
"Yes Ami mommy." All three puffs quietly answered.
"Good girls. Now let's go put Sedusa in her place." Ami said with a grin as the elevator came to a stop and the doors opened.
"We'll give you and Maylyn a lift." Blossom said with a smile as she followed Ami out of the building.
"Ready Maylyn?" Buttercup asked as she picked Maylyn up.
"Sweet! I've always wanted to fly!" Maylyn yelled with excitement as she held onto Buttercup.
"Ready Ami?" Blossom asked as she picked Ami up.
"Yep, lead the way Bubbles!" Ami ordered as she stared at Bubbles.
"Right!" Bubbles replied as she soared off towards the warehouse, followed by Blossom and Buttercup. "Here we are." Bubbles announced as they arrived over the warehouse after just a couple of minutes.
"Good job Bubbles, now let's go poke around. Remember though, don't go anywhere alone and if something happens you call out. Got it?" Ami asked as everyone landed in front of the warehouse.
"Understood Ami." Maylyn replied as she stood next to Buttercup. "Ready Buttlyn?" Maylyn asked with a grin.
"I was born ready, or made ready I should say." Buttercup answered with a chuckle.
"Blossom and Bubbles, take the right side. Maylyn and Buttercup, you two go left while I head up the center. Meet in the middle at the far end of the room." Ami quietly instructed as she pulled her guns out.
"Got it." Blossom whispered as she waited for Ami to open the door.
"We've got a problem. The door's sealed shut and it's mechanical, we won't be able to just pry it open." Ami informed as she stared at the structure.
"How'd you two get in the first time if the door was sealed?" Buttercup asked with straight face as she looked at Blossom.
"It wasn't sealed when we came here before, it was wide open. Even when we left." Blossom informed with a puzzled expression.
"That tells me that someone or something's been here since you left, and maybe they still are. We need a way to see inside the building before we just bust in there." Ami quietly said with a thoughtful expression.
"We have x-ray vision. Hold on." Blossom informed as she stared at the wall. "Hey, it's not working." Blossom quietly said as she continued to stare at the door.
"That's odd, we can see through pretty much anything except lead." Buttercup said with a small frown.
"But this door's clearly made of standard steel." Ami informed as she stared at the door. "Maybe Sedusa knew you would be coming back and put some kind of barrier of lead or some other thick item behind it that x-rays can't penetrate. That could be evidence that she's still in there with the mayor and professor. Check the walls and see if your x-ray vision works on any of those." Ami instructed with a straight face.
"Good call Ami." Blossom replied as she floated over to the main wall and tried to use her x-ray vision. "I see them! Sedusa's still in there with the mayor and professor!" Blossom informed as she floated back over to Ami.
"Good, let's get this over with. Get in fast, secure the professor and mayor, then nab Sedusa." Ami instructed as she held her guns at the ready.
"We'll go first." Blossom informed as she floated in front of the door.
"I'll take the lead sis, I've been slacking the past day or so and it's time for me to kick some butt." Buttercup said with a grin as she floated over to the door.
"Alright, we're gonna do this fast and professionally. Some friends of mine back home are police officers and I've learned some neat tricks from them about properly searching and clearing buildings of bad guys. Now everyone do what I do." Ami instructed as she pressed herself against the wall next to the door.
"Okay." Blossom replied as she and the others followed Ami's lead.
"This is called stacking up. Now one person stands against the wall on the other side of the door and opens it on my mark." Ami informed as she held her guns towards the ground and waited.
"I'll do it." Maylyn informed as she moved into position.
"Good, now on my signal you open the door and step right back to where you are. Once the door is open you three follow behind me in a line. Ready?" Ami asked as she prepared to make entry into the warehouse.
"Ready!" Everyone answered in stern tones.
"Do it Maylyn." Ami ordered in a firm tone.
"Got it." Maylyn replied as she quickly opened the door and backed up again.
"Go go go!" Ami instructed as she moved through the door followed by the puffs and Maylyn. "Looks clear so far. You know the drill, Blossom and Bubbles take right, Maylyn and Buttercup take left, and I'll head up the middle." Ami instructed as she started down the center row of crates.
"On it." Blossom replied as each team split off down a row.
"Watch each other's backs girls." Ami quietly said as she moved down her row of crates.
"I've got your back Buttlyn, let's go put this freak in the infirmary." Maylyn said with a grin as she followed Buttercup.
"Let's find the professor and put Sedusa away Bubbles." Blossom instructed as she and Bubbles moved down their row.
"Look Blossom, a pretty red light like kitties play with!" Bubbles giggled as she floated over to a small red laser that was strung across two large crates.
"Focus Bubbles, we need to find the Mayor and professor." Blossom scolded as she stared at Bubbles.
"I know." Bubbles replied as she flew through the laser. A small click was heard and thick black smoke suddenly started pouring out from either side of the two puffs.
"Bubbles! W-what did you...do?!" Blossom coughed as she fell to the ground.
"I don't...know!" Bubbles replied through her own fit of coughs.
"A-Ami!" Blossom yelled as she coughed and wheezed hysterically.
"Hold on girls!" Ami yelled as she fired her ODM lines into the roof and pulled herself over the shelves. "Girls!" Ami yelled in horror as she saw Blossom and Bubbles suffocating on the gas. "Hang on, Ami mommy's got you!" Ami yelled as she quickly landed next to Blossom and Bubbles, then picked them up and ran them away from the gas. "You two okay?" Ami asked as she set them down and looked at them.
"It was anti chemical x gas, I don't know where it came from though." Blossom coughed out.
"All I saw was the pretty laser light." Bubbles wheezed as she tried to catch her breath.
"Laser light? Did it look like a light from maybe a pointer or cat toy?" Ami asked with a small frown.
"Y-yes." Blossom answered with a breath.
"This seems too complex for any villain in your world. That was a trip mine rigged to a gas grenade of anti chemical x, this has Reaper's stench all over it. Even though he's gone he still helped plan all of this, we need to be extra careful. Catch your breath while I go and warn Buttercup and Maylyn." Ami instructed as she ran towards Maylyn and Buttercup.
"This place would be great to have a party in." Maylyn whispered as she looked down at Buttercup.
"With lots of glow lights and a rainbow disco light." Buttercup replied with a grin.
"Oh yeah, you know how to party Buttlyn." Maylyn said with a grin as she gently fist bumped Buttercup's shoulder.
"Thanks." Buttercup replied with a smile. "It is a little creepy though to be honest, it's dark and smelly in here." Buttercup grumbled as she looked around.
"What's wrong Buttlyn, you sacred?" Maylyn asked with a smirk.
"Pft, I'm not afraid of anything!" Buttercup said with a confident smile.
"Well you should be Buttlyn. It's okay to be afraid sometimes, even I get scared every now and then." Maylyn informed with a soft smile.
"Really?" Buttercup quietly asked as she looked up at Maylyn.
"Definitely. I try not to show it, but when I see my friends get hurt it scares me. I worry if they're gonna be okay or if they won't be able to play anymore. I feel responsible when our teammates are injured since I'm the captain and it's my job to lead us to victory, but it's also my job to make sure you're all safe. You especially worry me, between your super tough nature on the track and your crime fighting job, I worry about you and Bublyn. I even worry about Blosslyn, it's part of being a team captain, you worry about your teammates and the people that matter to them." Maylyn explained with a small smile.
"I worry about you to Maylyn, you're my best friend. I feel really close to you, closer than I have to almost anyone before." Buttercup replied with a smile as she came to the end of the isle. "There's the door, let's meet up with the others and find the mayor and professor." Buttercup quietly said as she started walking past the last shelf, triggering the same trap that Bubble's and Blossom had gotten caught in.
"Gross! What the heck is that stuff?!" Maylyn yelled as she jumped back from the gas. "Buttlyn?! Buttlyn what's wrong?!" Maylyn yelled as she stared at Buttercup through the cloud of gas.
"I-I can't..." Buttercup choked out as she collapsed to her hands and knees. "Anti...X!" Buttercup yelled as she gasped for air and fell flat on the ground.
"Hold on Buttlyn, I've got you!" Maylyn yelled as she held her breath and ran into the gas cloud. Maylyn quickly picked Buttercup up and ran her out of the cloud of gas. "Buttlyn! Buttlyn look at me!" Maylyn shouted as she held Buttercup in her arms.
"Shit, I'm too late." Ami swore to herself as she glided over Buttercup and Maylyn.
"Hang in there Buttlyn! Ami! Ami we need help!" Maylyn shouted in a panicked tone.
"I'm here! I was coming to warn you, if only I'd been a few seconds faster! Is she okay?" Ami asked as she looked at Buttercup.
"I don't know, she went limp." Maylyn answered as she laid Buttercup down.
"This bomb must've contained a more potent version of the gas, this was meant to be the finishing blow to all of them. Hang in there Buttercup, Ami mommy's got you." Ami quickly said as she held her ear over Buttercup's mouth and nose while staring at her chest. "No signs of breathing." Ami informed as she checked for Buttercup's pulse. "Got a pulse though, starting rescue breaths." Ami said as she placed her mouth over Buttercup's and blew a small stream of air into it.
"Behold professor! Your girls are no more, the Powerpuff Girls are dead! They're dead and gone forever!" Sedusa yelled with a maniacal laugh as she kicked the door in and held the professor in front of her.
"Sedusa!" Ami shouted as she stared at the woman. She had taken her pure form, and she was ugly. Her black hair was long and flowing in all directions, she was wearing a red leotard, black mesh leggings, red gloves, and tall red boots. Her eyes glowed bright green and her skin was as white as snow.
"A live one?!" Sedusa shouted as she stared at Ami.
"I'll kill you for hurting my little girl!" Ami shouted as she charged at Sedusa, she moved so fast that Sedusa couldn't even react before Ami had taken the professor from her and driven a fist into her face.
"AH! You psycho!" Sedusa yelled as she clutched her nose.
"You're a dead woman for what you've done! You hurt my little puff!" Ami screamed as she aimed her hand at Sedusa and sent a barrage of icicles soaring at her. Sedusa jumped back out of the door and moved to the side just in time, the icicles soared out of the door less than half a second after she'd moved out of their path.
"Come and get me freak!" Sedusa yelled as she ran off. Ami chased after her without a seconds thought.
"Hang in there Buttlyn." Maylyn quietly said as she continued where Ami had left off and resumed the rescue breaths. "Come on Buttlyn, breathe for me." Maylyn quietly said as she continued giving breaths to Buttercup, until she awoke with a gasp.
"Buttercup! Oh thank goodness, my baby." The professor quietly cried as he hugged Buttercup. "All my babies." The professor quietly said as he snatched Blossom and Bubbles out of the air and hugged them as well. "Are you girls alright?" The professor asked as he stared at each of them.
"We're good professor, now let's go help Ami mommy." Blossom replied as she started floating towards the door.
"Let's go teach Sedusa a lesson about messing with the Utoniums!" The professor yelled as he stared at the door.
"Let's get her Buttlyn." Maylyn said with a grin as she held her hand out to Buttercup.
"And beat her into the dirt." Buttercup replied with a smirk as she took Maylyn's offered hand and pulled herself to her feet.
"Now Buttercup, you know that's not right to say things like that. Even if she is a villain and might deserve it." The professor said with a smile as he stared at Buttercup.
"Sorry professor." Buttercup quietly apologized with a small frown.
"That's okay, now let's go help Ami." The professor instructed as he lead everyone outside. While the group searched for Ami and Sedusa, Ami had followed her up to the roof for their final showdown.
"You can't hide from me coward." Ami grumbled as she cautiously walked around the roof, checking behind various ducts and small structures for Sedusa.
"Then let's end this!" Sedusa yelled as she ran up to Ami and tried to attack her with her clawed fingers. Ami ducked out of the way just as Sedusa swung at her, getting so close that she shaved three strands of hair from Ami's head. "Your reflexes are good, but how long can you keep this up?" Sedusa asked with a grin as she stared at Ami.
"As long as I need to you witch." Ami replied as she stared back at Sedusa. The two foes stared each other down for several seconds, until Ami suddenly started swaying back and forth.
"Oh, this is unexpected. I've never had a girl fall for my spell before, you're not the type to mess around with the men are you? You lean towards the other side of the fence, well this just got very interesting." Sedusa said with a nasty grin as she walked up to Ami and kissed her. "You're mine now, and I command you to slay the puffs." Sedusa instructed with a wicked grin.
"Yes. I will destroy the puffs for you, I'll do anything for you." Ami said with a smile as she turned around and waited for the others to come to the roof.
"Ami!" Blossom yelled as she flew up to the roof, followed by Buttercup and Bubbles.
"Kill them." Sedusa whispered in Ami's ear.
"Let's get her Ami, we'll beat her together!" Blossom yelled as she stared at Ami. Ami said nothing, instead she raised her hand and aimed it at Blossom's head. "What are you doing Ami?" Blossom quietly asked with a confused expression.
"Kill the puffs." Ami quietly said as she launched an icicle at Blossom.
"AH!" Blossom screamed in horror as the icicle soared towards her head.
"Watch out Blossom!" Buttercup shouted as she fired two laser beams from her eyes and melted the icicle mid flight.
"Th-thanks Buttercup." Blossom thanked with a breath.
"What's wrong with you Ami, you could've really hurt Blossom?!" The professor shouted as he glared at Ami.
"Kill...puffs." Ami quietly said as she took a step towards the group. "Kill. Kill them. Kill the...N-NO!" Ami shouted as she dropped to her knees.
"What's wrong Ami?" The professor asked as he stared at Ami.
"I-I can't do it! Get away from..." Ami shouted as she doubled over on the ground.
"What are you waiting for, kill them now! Do it for me Ami, do it for your lover." Sedusa quietly said as she walked over to Ami and kissed her again.
"I...I am at your service my love." Ami quietly said as she slowly rose to her feet.
"Nice try Sedusa, but you can't manipulate Ami like that! She's a girl, and your spell has no affect on girls!" Blossom yelled with a smug expression.
"Not straight girls, but she's a different story you punny brat!" Sedusa yelled with a sinister grin. "Kill them my pet! Slaughter the puffs once and for all!" Sedusa shouted as she pushed Ami towards the puffs.
"What does that mean professor?" Bubbles asked as she looked at the professor before staring at Ami.
"Ami likes girls, she's susceptible to Sedusa's spell." The professor quietly said as he stood between Ami and the puffs.
"No! I don't believe that, Ami mommy's too smart to fall for Sedusa's tricks, even if she does like girls! She wouldn't fall for a witch like Sedusa no matter what kind of spell she was under! This isn't you Ami, you're not a bad person! You would never hurt us." Blossom cried as she stared at Ami.
"Kill...puffs." Ami quietly said as she raised her hands over her head.
"Don't do this Ami, you're stronger than her spell. What would Mako think about you if you did this?" The professor quietly asked as he stared at Ami.
"M-Mako?" Ami quietly asked as she lowered her arms slightly.
"Yes Ami, remember your girlfriend and all the people you love. The people who are waiting for you back in your universe. What would they think about you if you killed innocent people like this. You're too smart to be controlled by a seductress like her, don't let her win Ami! She's in your head, and if there's one thing you have it's a strong mind! Now kick her out Ami, kick that witch out of your head!" The professor shouted in a stern tone as he stood between Ami and the girls.
"Don't listen to him, you're mine now! Kill the puffs, destroy them and that man! Do it now!" Sedusa shouted as she glared at the back of Ami's head.
"I." Ami quietly said as she held the sides of her head.
"Don't fall for her tricks Ami, you're stronger than her! Fight it!" The professor yelled in a stern tone as he continued to stare at Ami.
"He's a liar and deceiver! Eliminate them all, kill them and be free!" Sedusa shouted back.
"Stop it." Ami quietly cried as she clutched her head in her hands.
"Fight her Ami, you can do it!" Blossom yelled with a smile.
"They are the enemy, kill them!" Sedusa yelled back with fury.
"Stop it." Ami said a little louder as she continued to hold the sides of her head.
"Don't let her lie to you like this, you're a good person Ami!" Buttercup yelled with a sad expression.
"Please." Ami cried as she slammed her fist on the ground in pain and confusion.
"They don't care about you, they don't love you! Kill them now!" Sedusa ordered as she pointed at the puffs and professor.
"Shut up. Everyone shut up." Ami cried as she shook her head back and forth.
"We love you Ami mommy, please come back to us." Bubbles cried as she stared at Ami.
"I said shut up!" Ami yelled as she banged her fist on the ground.
"Don't listen to them, none of them love you! You mean nothing to them, now kill them!" Sedusa shouted in a furious tone.
"SHUT UP!" Ami screamed at the top of her lungs as she slammed both fists on the ground, causing icicles to rain down from the sky.
"GILRS!" The professor yelled as he grabbed the puffs and pulled them close, in a futile attempt to shield them from the lethal rain of icicles.
"AAAAH!" Everyone screamed in terror as they watched the icicles soar down at them like missiles. "We love you professor!" Buttercup yelled with tears as she clung to the professor.
"I love you to girls!" The professor cried as he clung to each of the puffs. The icicles impacted with tremendous force, and everyone stood in terror as they listened to the icy projectiles shatter all around them. After a few seconds all was quiet, and the professor cautiously opened an eye. "What the?" The professor quietly said as he looked up, shocked to see that they were all under a large clear dome.
"Are we dead?" Blossom quietly asked as she looked up at the professor.
"No. We're safe girls, Ami saved us." The professor said with a smile as he looked around the dome. "All of us." The professor quietly added as he looked at the mayor and Maylyn.
"What about Sedusa?" Buttercup asked with an angry expression.
"I don't..." The professor started to answer, until he caught a glimpse of two figures on the other side of the dome. "Oh my god." The professor quietly said as he stared in horror at the figures.
"What is it professor?" Blossom asked with a small frown as she tried to look at what he was looking at.
"Don't look girls." The professor quietly said as he shielded their eyes. "Oh Ami." The professor whispered as he stared at Ami and Sedusa, who were both outside the protective dome. Sedusa spat out a puddle of blood before looking up at Ami.
"Y-you monster." Sedusa choked out as she stared into Ami's eyes. Ami stood over her like a giant, and hate burned in her eyes.
"You bitch!" Ami shouted as she kicked Sedusa in the face. "You made me attack my babies!" Ami shouted as she slammed her foot on an icicle that was protruding from Sedusa's back, driving it further into her body.
"AAAH!" Sedusa screamed in pain as she fell flat on her chest.
"You made me hurt my little puffs!" Ami screamed as she did the same thing to another icicle in Sedusa's shoulder.
"AH!" Sedusa yelled in agony as the second icicle pushed so deep into her that it pierced straight through her shoulder.
"You tried to make me kill them!" Ami screamed with rage as she rolled Sedusa onto her back with her foot, then slammed it down on her chest.
"AH! Y-you goddamn...psycho." Sedusa choked out with a little blood.
"You have no fucking idea." Ami growled as she pulled her gun out and pointed it at Sedusa's head. "You kidnapped the professor and Mayor, you tried to kill my girls on multiple occasions, and you rigged a bomb in the warehouse that almost suffocated my girls to death. If I'm a psycho then what the hell are you? The monster that tortured three kindergartners with chemical weapons, the seductive slut who brainwashed an old man and a father into abandoning the people they care most for. If I'm a psycho then you're a goddamn terrorist. Do you know what I do to things that terrorize the innocent and make life miserable for others?" Ami asked as she pressed her gun to the front of Sedusa's skull.
"Nothing, because you don't have the guts to kill." Sedusa choked out with a grin.
"That was a long time ago." Ami replied as she pulled the trigger. With a deafening bang Sedusa's body went limp, and smoke rose the barrel of Ami's gun.
"What was that professor?" Bubbles cried as she clung to the professor.
"It was just thunder Bubbles." The professor quietly answered as he looked towards Ami. "It was just thunder." The professor quietly said again as he stared at Ami.
"Can we see Ami mommy?" Buttercup quietly asked as she looked at the professor.
"Not yet girls, I think Ami mommy needs a minute." The professor answered as he kept the girls turned away from Ami. Ami stood over Sedusa's body and stared at it for a few seconds, then she encased it in tinted ice so the girls couldn't see it.
"What have I done? What is wrong with me? I killed her, I killed her in front of the girls. What kind of mother am I?!" Ami screamed as she dropped her guns.
"Blossom, use your heat vision to melt a door in the ice, but keep your back turned." The professor instructed as he looked at Blossom.
"Okay." Blossom replied as she cut a large hole in the ice behind her.
"Good job. Now stay here and don't look at us for a minute okay." The professor instructed as he started leaving the ice dome.
"Why professor?" Blossom asked in a curious tone.
"Because Ami mommy's clothes got all torn up in the fight and she gets embarrassed. So I'm gonna go ask Ms. Bellum to grab her some spare clothes from the car." The professor lied with a smile.
"Okay." Blossom replied with a shrug as she and the others did as they were told.
"Professor..." Maylyn started saying until the professor interrupted her.
"Just stay with them and don't look Maylyn." The professor interrupted as he left the dome.
"Yes professor." Maylyn whispered as she hugged all three puffs.
"Ami?" The professor quietly said as he took a step towards Ami.
"Get away from me." Ami quietly said as she took a step back from the professor.
"It's okay Ami. I'm not gonna hurt you or anything, it's okay." The professor quietly said with a straight face as he took a step towards Ami.
"I'm not stable, they'd be safer without me around." Ami said with tears as she backed away from the professor.
"That's not true Ami, you just did what you thought was right. What you were use to doing. They would be devastated without you." The professor quietly said as he took another step towards Ami.
"I'm a monster, a murderer. I don't deserve them, and they deserve better than me." Ami cried as she backed up to the edge of the roof.
"That's not true Ami, you would die for them; I couldn't ask for a better mother figure for them than you. Everyone has their demons Ami, but don't let them take you away from the girls and all the people who care about you." The professor replied as he took another step towards Ami.
"This world deserves better than me, every world does." Ami said with a stern look as she leaned backwards. "Goodbye professor, thank you for everything." Ami quietly said as she closed her eyes and fell off the roof.
"Ami no!" The professor shouted as he ran to the spot Ami had been standing. The professor didn't dare look over the side of building, he knew what would happen, what he would see if he did. He closed his eyes and waited for the inevitable sound of a solid object slamming into the ground, but after almost a minute it hadn't come. With fear in his heart he peeked over the side of the building, letting out a soft sigh of relief as he did.
"Hey boss, I think ya got something in yer hair." A short blue blob said as it stared at a large blue blob.
"What is it?" A taller and rounder blob asked with a confused expression.
"I think it's a chick." A third tall and skinny blob answered as it stared at the round blob.
"Yeah, and a cute one at that." The small blob said with a smile as it stared at Ami, who was sunk halfway into the roundest blob.
"Well don't just sit there, get her out!" The round blob yelled with a grumpy expression.
"Sure thing boss." The tall slim blob replied as it grabbed Ami's hand and pulled her out of the other blob.
"What the hell?" Ami asked as she looked at the three blue blobs.
"Watch where y're falling there girl!" The round blob yelled as it stared at Ami.
"What are you and why are you here?! Can't you see I'm trying to fall off a roof?!" Ami yelled as she glared at the blobs.
"Well excuse us, but can't you see that we're trying to um, to uh...what where we doing again?" The round blob asked as it looked at its counter parts.
"Oh I know, we was um...we was...I can't remember. Do you remember?" The short blob asked as it looked at the tall one.
"I remember, we was standing in the rain!" The tall blob answered with a smile.
"What are you dumb creatures, and why are you all so stupid?!" Ami shouted as she glared at the three blobs.
"Watch it lady, no one talks to the Amoeba Boys like that!" The round one yelled as it stared at Ami.
"Except pretty much everyone in Townsville." The tall blob said with a sigh.
"Yeah, so you best watch it!" The small blob shouted as it looked at Ami.
"Ami mommy!" All three puffs yelled as they flew down from the roof.
"Ya know this broad?" The round blob asked as it stared at the girls.
"Yeah, that's our Ami mommy." Bubbles answered with a smile.
"Thank you for catching her for us." Blossom thanked as she hugged the round blob.
"What are these things?" Ami asked as she glared at the blobs.
"Those are the Amoeba Boys. That's Bossman, the round one with the fedora. The tall one is Slim, and the short one is called Junior." Blossom answered with a smile.
"Amoeba Boys?" Ami asked as she stared at the three blobs. They were all aqua blue in color and they each wore a hat on their head. Bossman was the roundest of the group and stood at about four feet tall, Slim was just as his name described, very skinny and tall, about five feet to be precise. Then there was Junior, appropriately named due to his small size of about two feet tall, he was also a little round, though not as round as Bossman.
"Ya got a rude friend Powerpuff girls, this lady just fell out of sky and landed right on top of me." Bossman grumbled as he stared at Ami.
"I wasn't aiming for you moron, I was aiming for the pavement." Ami grumbled as she stared at Bossman.
"But ya would've gone splat if ya had hit that!" Slim informed with a straight face.
"That was the point dumb ass!" Ami shouted as she glared at Slim.
"Ami! Ami thank god you're okay, what were you thinking?!" The professor yelled as and the others came down the fire ladder.
"Just leave me alone, all of you!" Ami shouted in an angry tone.
"You could've died Ami, you're lucky these guys were here to catch you!" The professor scolded as he stared at Ami.
"I know I could've died! That was the damn point!" Ami screamed back with a rageful expression.
"What are you saying Ami, you were trying to kill yourself? Why would you do that Ami?" The professor quietly asked with a shocked and heartbroken expression.
"Because I'm tired of this always happening! I try and I try to be a good person and do the right things in life, I don't want to fight like this, I want peace. But for some reason I just keep ending up in situations like this, separated from my friends and family, having to choose between killing or dying, I feel so broken and helpless! Why does the universe torture me like this, what did I do wrong to deserve this?! What did I do professor, what did I do?!" Ami cried as she fell to her knees, then laid on her side and curled into a ball. Everyone stared at Ami for a few seconds, no one knew what to say or how to help her, but eventually a brave little girl stepped forward to comfort Ami.
"It's okay Ami mommy. We think you're a good person no matter what you've done, you're the best person ever. It's okay to feel broken and helpless sometimes, that's why you have all the people who love you, so they can support you. Just like you supported me, please don't try and leave us like that again Ami mommy, we love you." Buttercup quietly cried as she laid by Ami and cuddled up to her.
"Oh Buttercup, you're such a sweetheart. Ami mommy was very selfish when she jumped off the roof, but she's scared and hurting. I did a really bad thing Buttercup, and I keep doing that same thing over and over again. I feel like I'm becoming something I shouldn't be, all the pain and fear is zapping me of my empathy. I see bad guys and I have the urge to get rid of them before they take the people I love. People like you and your sisters. I feel like you'd all be safer without me, like everyone would be." Ami cried as she gently wrapped her arm around Buttercup.
"That's not true Ami mommy, I'd be so miserable without you. If it hadn't been for you I'd still be hiding what happened with the whole tooth incident. We'd all still be fighting and the professor still wouldn't understand me or know how to listen to us. You saved me Ami, you kept me from running away when I was angry and hurting. You comforted me in a way no one else did, and you brought our family back together. We couldn't be any safer than we all are right now, and it's all thanks to you. The best mommy in the whole universe." Buttercup cried as she clung to Ami.
"We love you Ami mommy." Bubbles quietly cried as she flew over to Ami and curled up next to her.
"Don't leave us Ami mommy, you mean everything to our family. It wouldn't be the same without you." Blossom cried as she also cuddled up to Ami.
"They're right Ami, you're family, and we couldn't bare to lose you." The professor quietly said as he hugged Ami and the puffs.
"I'm so sorry everyone, I promise not to make that mistake again. I love you all so much." Ami quietly cried as she clung to the professor and puffs.
"We love you to Ami, now come on, let's get you home to rest." The professor said with a smile as he helped Ami to her feet.
"Okay." Ami quietly replied with a small smile as she walked with the professor towards the car.
"Can Maylyn spend the night professor, I don't want her to go?" Buttercup asked as she looked at Maylyn.
"Only if it's okay with her parents." The professor answered as he opened the car door for Ami.
"I'll give 'em a call in the car." Maylyn informed as she picked Buttercup up. "Let's get you three to bed, you're all probably pretty tired." Maylyn said with a smile as she carried Buttercup to the car.
"It's only about five though." Buttercup whined as she stared at Maylyn.
"Yeah, and we're hungry." Bubbles quietly said as she looked down at her stomach, which grumbled in agreement.
"Oh my god that's right, you girls haven't eaten anything today! You all must be starving right now." The professor said in a shocked tone as he stared at his daughters.
"Mhm." All three puffs replied with small frowns.
"What would you girls like to eat?" The professor asked with a smile as he stared at the puffs.
"I don't know, do you want anything special Ami mommy?" Blossom asked as she looked at Ami.
"No thank you girls, I'm good with whatever you all want." Ami answered with a smile.
"Why don't we order a pizza or two when we get home, that way we can all relax and eat pizza together tonight. Maybe you can all watch a movie or something." The professor suggested with a smile.
"Yay!" The girls yelled with excitement.
"Alright, let's get home and then I'll order pizza for delivery." The professor said with a smile as he watched everyone get in the car.
"I'm glad we get to eat soon, because I think I need a pill professor." Buttercup quietly said as she placed a hand over her chest.
"Don't worry, we'll get you one with dinner." The professor said with a smile as he turned the car on and started driving.
"Thanks." Buttercup quietly said as she leaned her head on Maylyn's chest.
"You really aren't feeling well, are you Buttlyn?" Maylyn asked as she gently patted Buttercup's head.
"No." Buttercup quietly replied as she snuggled closer to Maylyn.
"I'm not use to seeing this side of you, you're normally not so vulnerable Buttlyn. It's hard to see you like this." Maylyn quietly said as she put her arm around Buttercup's shoulders.
"Sorry." Buttercup quietly apologized with a small frown.
"Don't be sorry Buttlyn, there's nothing wrong with being vulnerable sometimes. You can't be the toughest fighter twenty-four seven after all, you've gotta take a break sometimes." Maylyn chuckled as she gently rubbed Buttercup's shoulder.
"Don't worry Buttercup, I'll take over as the tough puff until you feel better." Bubbles giggled.
"NO!" Blossom and Buttercup yelled in unison.
"Why don't you want Bubbles to be tough once in a while, I think she'd look cute if she tried to be tough?" Ami asked with a smile as she patted Bubble's head.
"No way Ami, last time Bubbles tried to be the tough one she went crazy hardcore! She beat up everything and everyone! She even beat up a talking dog!" Blossom informed with a shudder.
"I don't believe that, Bubbles would never hurt an animal." Ami replied with a smile as she looked at Bubbles.
"I might've done that." Bubbles quietly said with a small blush.
"Why would you punch a dog?" Ami asked in a shocked tone as she stared at Bubbles.
"Because he was causing a traffic jam, so I dragged him out of his car and beat him up." Bubbles answered with a small frown.
"That was a little uncalled for don't you think?" Ami asked with a giggle as she patted Bubble's head.
"Yeah, I feel bad about that day." Bubbles answered with a small frown.
"That's okay Bubbles, everyone makes mistakes. The important thing is that I never turn the simulator up to eleven for any of you, at least not for a while anyways." The professor chuckled as he pulled into the driveway. "Alright girls, let's get your pjs on so you can all relax." The professor said with a smile as he got out of the car.
"Professor, could you help me please? I just started hurting really badly." Ami quietly asked as she put a hand on her side.
"Of course Ami. Maybe I should give you one of Buttercup's pills as well." The professor replied as he carefully helped Ami out of the car.
"I might need two since she has such a low dose." Ami groaned as the professor draped one of her arms over his shoulder.
"I'll take a look at the bottle and call the hospital if I need to." The professor replied as he walked Ami to the front door and opened it. "Here we go, let's get you settled on the couch so you can rest." The professor said with a smile as he helped Ami to the living room, then gently laid her on the couch.
"Thank you." Ami thanked as she closed her eyes.
"You rest Ami, but tell me what you want on your pizza first if you can please." The professor quietly said as he kneeled down by Ami.
"I'm okay with whatever, I just need some food and some medicine." Ami answered with a small breath.
"Cheese okay?" The professor asked with a straight face.
"Yes, thank you." Ami answered as she fell asleep.
"You and Blosslyn okay Bubblyn?" Maylyn asked as she carried Buttercup into the house.
"Yeah, just sleepy." Blossom answered with a small yawn as she and Bubbles floated next to Maylyn.
"Why don't we all rest a bit next to your Ami mommy." Maylyn suggested as she carried Buttercup into the living room, then sat down next to the couch.
"Okay Maylyn." Blossom replied as she and Bubbles curled up next to Maylyn.
"I'll turn the light off and let you all rest." The professor whispered as he shut the light off and left the room. "Now to call in the pizza." The professor said to himself as he walked over to the phone and dialed up the local pizza place.
"Pizza palace, how can I help you?" A woman asked in a friendly tone on the other end of the line.
"I'd like to place an order for delivery please." The professor informed with a smile.
"Certainly sir, and to where is this order going?" The woman asked as she grabbed a pen and note pad.
"The Utonium residents." The professor answered in a friendly tone.
"The girls having another slumber party?" The woman asked with a chuckle.
"You could say that." The professor replied with a chuckle of his own.
"So what can I get you professor?" The woman asked as she held her pen over her notepad.
"I'd like two large cheese pizzas please, one normal and one well done." The professor informed in a friendly tone.
"Extra cheese on both and stuffed crust for the normal cooked one?" The woman asked as she wrote the order down.
"That predictable are we?" The professor chuckled.
"That's not a bad thing, it makes our jobs easier. We added your order to the menu you order it so much, we call it the puffed crust pizza. It's our most popular pizza." The woman said with a giggle as she finished writing the order down. "We'll get started on that immediately professor. It should be there in about forty-five minutes to an hour." The woman informed in a friendly tone.
"Thank you ma'am. How much will it be?" The professor asked as he grabbed his credit card.
"Thirty-six eighteen tonight. Charge it to the usual card?" The woman asked as she pushed some buttons on a register.
"Yes please." The professor answered as he turned his card over.
"Security code please." The woman instructed as she stared at her computer screen.
"One one seven." The professor answered as he put his card away.
"You're all good professor, we'll have that to you within an hour. Take care." The woman informed as she prepared to hang up the phone.
"Thank you, you to. Goodbye." The professor replied as he hung up the phone. "Guess I'll check on the girls while I wait." The professor said to himself as he tiptoed into the living room.
"Hey professor." Maylyn whispered as she looked at the professor.
"Hi Maylyn, how is everyone?" The professor quietly asked as he stared at Maylyn.
"Breathing. Ami's in obvious pain, as is Buttercup. Blossom and Bubbles are doing okay I think, and if they are hurting they're good at hiding it." Maylyn answered with a small frown.
"How are you doing?" The professor asked as he sat down on a chair and stared at Maylyn.
"A little shaken up to be honest, I've never seen Buttlyn like this before. So vulnerable and scared, it makes me sad." Maylyn replied with a sad sigh.
"Maylyn, do you mind if I ask you something?" The professor asked with a straight face.
"Sure, what's up professor?" Maylyn asked with a small smile.
"Did you know Buttercup was in pain at all, I mean, before all of this happened?" The professor asked with a small frown.
"To be honest, I suspected that something was bothering her at our last practice, but when I asked her about it she just played it off like it was nothing. Figured it wasn't my place to push too much, it's not like she was collapsing on the ground or anything, so I thought maybe it was just normal aches and pains from doing what she does. I never would've suspected it to be anything like it was." Maylyn explained with a sad expression.
"Can't say you should've, I'm her father and even I didn't know she was suffering so much. I feel so bad for her, if it hadn't been for Ami she'd probably still be hiding those injuries from me. I feel like I failed her as a father, I should've paid better attention to her and not just assumed she was the problem. Just because she's normally the one in trouble doesn't mean she's always the bad one." The professor sighed as he looked down at the floor. A knock at the door suddenly distracted Maylyn and the professor. "That can't be the pizza already." The professor quietly said as he stood up and walked over to the front door. "Ms. Keene, what a pleasant surprise." The professor said with a smile as he opened the door.
"Hi John, I'm sorry for dropping by like this unannounced, I just wanted to see how the girls were doing." Ms. Keene informed with a sad expression.
"They're okay. Would you like to come in and dry off?" The professor asked as he gestured Ms. Keene inside.
"Thank you professor." Ms. Keene thanked as she walked into the house.
"I can take your coat and hang it up." The professor said with a smile as he helped Ms. Keene take her coat off.
"Thank you." Ms. Keene thanked as the professor took her coat and hung it to dry. "So where is everyone?" Ms. Keene asked as she looked around a little.
"Sleeping in the living room. They're all in a bit of pain right now." The professor quietly said with a small frown.
"Those poor girls. I'm sure they're happy to have Ami around to care for them, not that you wouldn't be sufficient or anything." Ms. Keane replied with a nervous chuckle.
"They're very happy to have Ami here, she's really made a big difference to all of them. I think the girls really needed a lady's touch in their lives, but not like that snobby lady who first tried to teach them how to be lady like. They needed a woman like Ami, someone who was compassionate, but also tough." The professor said with a smile as he gestured to a chair.
"Oh, thank you." Ms. Keane thanked as she sat down. "So the girls are okay though, they're not hurt or anything?" Ms. Keane asked with a worried expression.
"Buttercup's in a fair amount of pain from her last injuries, but Blossom and Bubbles are okay. The one I'm really worried about is Ami." The professor quietly said with a small frown.
"What happened to Ami?" Ms. Keane asked in a worried tone.
"A lot. She confronted Sedusa tonight after Sedusa gassed the girls with anti chemical x. Ami chased her onto the roof and they started fighting, unfortunately we had no idea that Ami was...well that's her personal business. Anyways, Sedusa brainwashed Ami and tried to turn her against the girls. She snapped out of it and went completely berserk. She um... she..." The professor quietly said, until he stopped and just shook his head back and forth.
"She what John?" Ms. Keane asked with a small frown.
"She killed Sedusa. She impaled her with icicles then shot her." The professor quietly answered with a sad expression.
"Ami killed someone tonight? She actually ended Sedusa's life?! Oh my god, I never would've guessed she'd be capable of doing something like that. She's so sweet and innocent. How could she do that?" Ms. Keane quietly replied in a shocked tone. "What happend after she did that?" Ms. Keane asked with a sad expression.
"She freaked out and tried to kill herself. Thankfully when she jumped from the roof she happened to land on one of the Amobea Boys. I feel so bad for her, she's in so much pain. She has such demons that she has to carry. This isn't the first time she's had to kill, that poor girl's been through a hell that I could never imagine in my worst nightmares. I can't imagine what this is gonna do to her." The professor quietly said with a sniffle.
"Oh John." Ms. Keane quietly said as she hugged the professor.
"I don't know what I'm gonna do, I can't do much to help her. I understand so little about her and the things she's seen and done. I talked to her when she first came here and she told me that our world isn't the first one she's been to. She was in another world once where she saw and did disturbingly terrifying things to survive. She saw people get eaten alive by monsters, she killed people and saw people get killed. She fought a war, and I don't care what universe you're from, war is hell no matter what. I'm sure it doesn't help her psyche being alone here instead of having her friends and or family around. I hope Mojo can fix his machine soon so she can get home and recover." The professor quietly cried as he looked towards the living room.
"It'll be okay John, if she really has been through all that then it proves one thing for sure, she's a very strong person. She's gonna be okay." Ms. Keane said with a smile.
"I hope so, the girls have become so attached to her. I can't imagine what they'd do without her." The professor quietly said with a sad expression.
"She'll have to go home eventually John, and I think deep down everyone knows that." Ms. Keane quietly said with a small frown.
"Yeah, but it's not gonna be easy for them. For any of them." The professor quietly said with a small frown.
"The girls are strong, I'm sure they'll be okay." Ms. Keane replied as she gave the professor a hug.
"I hope so." The professor said with a frown as he hugged Ms. Keane back, just as there was another knock on the door. "That's the pizza, excuse me for a second." The professor said as he let go of Ms. Keane and walked over to the door again.
"Here you are Mr. Utonium, two large cheese pizzas." The delivery man said with a smile as he held the pizzas out to the professor.
"Thank you sir." The professor thanked as he tipped the delivery driver and grabbed the pizzas.
"Thank you sir, you have a wonderful night." The man thanked with a smile as he walked back to his car.
"Need a hand John?" Ms. Keane asked with a smile.
"No thank you." The professor replied as he set the pizzas on the table. "Would you like to stay, I'm sure the girls would love to see you?" The professor asked as he stared at Ms. Keane.
"Are you sure you wouldn't mind having me?" Ms. Keane asked with a small blush.
"Not at all. I'll set the table real quick, would you mind waking the girls please?" The professor asked as he grabbed some plates out of a cabinet.
"Not at all." Ms. Keane replied as she walked into the living room.
"Be careful waking Ami and Buttercup, they can be a little jumpy." The professor warned as he started setting the table.
"Girls." Ms. Keane quietly said as she crouched down by everyone.
"Ms. Keane?" Bubbles quietly asked as she slowly opened her eyes.
"Rise and shine sleepy heads, the pizza's here." Ms. Keane informed with a smile.
"Yay." Bubbles quietly cheered with a yawn.
"Dinner time?" Blossom asked as she sat up and stretched.
"Yep." Ms. Keane answered as she stared at Blossom.
"Come on Buttercup, the food's here." Blossom mumbled as she gently tapped Buttercup's shoulder a few times.
"Oh. I'm so sore." Buttercup groaned as she rolled onto her back.
"Us to Buttercup." Blossom quietly said as she gently poked Ami.
"Mako!" Ami shouted as she sat up so fast she got dizzy.
"You okay Ami?" Maylyn asked as she and everyone else stared at Ami.
"I...I had a nightmare. Sorry if...I woke any of you." Ami replied with a couple of breaths.
"You didn't wake us Ami mommy." Bubbles said with a smile as she gently hugged Ami.
"Ah. Careful Bubbles, Ami mommy's still really sore. Oh my side is just killing me." Ami groaned as she put a hand on her side.
"Do you want some help getting up?" Ms. Keane asked with a small frown.
"Please." Ami answered as she clutched her side.
"Alright, nice and slow." Ms. Keane said with a smile as she slowly helped Ami to her feet.
"Ah." Ami quietly yelped as Ms. Keane pulled her to her feet. "Thank you Ms. Keane." Ami thanked as she leaned on Ms. Keane.
"You're welcome. Are you girls okay?" Ms. Keane asked as she started helping Ami into the kitchen.
"Blossom and I are okay, but Buttercup's still all beat up." Bubbles answered with a small frown as she looked at Buttercup.
"It's alright Bubblyn, I've got Buttlyn." Maylyn informed with a smile as she carefully picked Buttercup up.
"Thanks Maylyn." Buttercup thanked as she snuggled against Maylyn.
"I hear you girls use those nicknames a lot, where'd you come up with those?" Ms. Keane asked with a smile as she helped Ami to a chair.
"They're our derby names." Buttercup answered with a smile.
"You three do roller derby?!" Ms. Keane asked in a surprised tone as she stared at the girls.
"Bubbles and I do, Blossom never asked to join though." Buttercup answered with a smile.
"Games like that aren't really my style, I'd rather play chess or something." Blossom replied as she grabbed her plate.
"Aren't you eating here Blossom?" The professor asked as he looked at Blossom.
"I thought we were all gonna watch a movie with dinner." Blossom replied as she looked back at the professor.
"If you girls want to that's fine." The professor said with a smile as he grabbed a plate. "Would you like to eat in here or in the living room Ami?" The professor asked as he looked at Ami.
"Whatever the girls wanna do." Ami groaned as she held her head in her hands and rested her elbows on the table. "I think I'm gonna have to steal one or two of your pills Buttercup, my side feels like it's being struck with a flaming hammer." Ami quietly said as she placed a hand on her side.
"When did it get so bad, you were doing well earlier?" The professor asked with a frown as he stared at Ami.
"The adrenaline and worry for the girls kept the pain at bay, but now that everything's calmed down it hurts like crazy." Ami quietly answered as she fought back tears.
"I'll give you one of Buttercup's pills." The professor quietly said as he went to grab Buttercup's pills.
"Here, I almost forgot to give these to you. You left them at school after all that stuff happened with Mojo and the others." Ms. Keane said with a smile as she pulled Buttercup's pills out of her purse.
"Thank you Ms. Keane." The professor thanked as he took the bottle and shook two pills into his hand. "Here Ami, take two since it's such a low dose." The professor instructed as he handed Ami the pills.
"Thank you." Ami thanked with a breath as she popped the pills in her mouth and took a sip of water. "You know what's really messed up, this is not the worst pain I've been in before. I have had the worst luck the past few months. I've been shot, beaten, stabbed, almost eaten alive, and a butt load of other junk I don't even care to go into. But you girls, you make all the hell I went through worth it, my sweet little puffs." Ami said with a smile as she leaned back in her chair a little.
"Really Ami? We're worth all that pain?" Bubbles asked with a surprised expression.
"That and whole lot worse pain, you girls are the best things to ever happen to me. I hope I wouldn't hurt Mako's feelings saying that, but if she could see you three then I'm sure she'd agree. I love you girls." Ami said with a smile as she held her hand out to Bubbles.
"We love you to Ami mommy." Bubbles replied as she placed her hand over Ami's, followed by Blossom and Buttercup.
"Now let's eat some pizza and get some rest. You girls need it as much as I do after a crazy day like today." Ami said with a smile and a small yawn.
"Yay, pizza!" The girls cheered as they each grabbed some pizza.
"No staying up late and watching movies for us tonight Buttlyn." Maylyn said with a smile as she took a bite of pizza.
"That's okay, I'm exhausted anyways." Buttercup informed with a small yawn.
"You sure it's okay if I spend the night professor?" Maylyn asked as she looked at the professor.
"That's fine, as long as your parents said it was okay." The professor answered as he took a sip of milk.
"Sweet, thanks professor." Maylyn thanked as she took another bite of Pizza.
"What are we doing in class tomorrow Ms. Keane?" Blossom asked with a smile as she nibbled on some pizza.
"Probably the usual stuff. Why, is there something specific you were hoping to do?" Ms. Keane asked as she took a bite of pizza.
"No, just curious and trying to make conversation." Blossom replied with a smile.
"Okay." Ms. Keane said as she took another bite of pizza.
"Are you gonna come to school with us tomorrow Ami mommy?" Bubbles asked with a hopeful expression.
"I'll try Bubbles, but it depends how I'm feeling tomorrow." Ami answered with a smile.
"I hope you can come, we like having you in class." Bubbles said with a smile as she nibbled on her pizza.
"I'll try Bubbles, but even with my fast healing I don't know if I'll be well enough to do much tomorrow." Ami informed as she put a hand on her side.
"If you need to rest then you should, we wouldn't want you to hurt yourself anymore than you already are." Buttercup said with a smile.
"Thank you Buttercup, I'll try not to mess myself up too badly." Ami giggled as she finished her pizza. "Thank you for dinner professor, it was very good." Ami thanked with a smile.
"Are you sure that's all you want, you only ate two pieces?" The professor asked as he stared at Ami.
"Yes, I'm not very hungry after everything today. I'm more tired than anything." Ami quietly said with a small smile.
"Alright, why don't you go to sleep then if you need to. We'll try not to be too loud." The professor suggested as he stared at Ami.
"Thank you professor." Ami thanked as she tried to stand up. "Ah." Ami quietly yelped as she held a hand over her side.
"I've gotch ya." Maylyn said with a smile as she quickly went to Ami's side and helped her.
"Thank you Maylyn." Ami thanked with a small breath.
"No problem Ami, let's get you settled into wherever you're gonna be sleeping." Maylyn replied as she helped Ami into the living room.
"I'm worried about her, she's in worse shape than I thought." The professor quietly said as he watched Ami and Maylyn leave the room.
"Is Ami mommy gonna be okay?" Bubbles quietly asked as she stared at the professor with watery eyes.
"I'm sure she'll heal Bubbles, it's just gonna take time. Until then I think we should keep a close eye on her, at least for tonight." The professor quietly said with a small frown.
"She'll have all of us down here by her since we're having a sleepover with Maylyn." Blossom informed in a happy tone.
"I know, but you girls need your rest as well. Especially you Buttercup, you've been through a lot over the past few days." The professor replied with a small frown as he looked at Buttercup.
"Maybe I could stay over and keep an eye on them for you." Ms. Keane suggested as she looked at the professor.
"That's a kind offer Ms. Keane, but you and the girls have school tomorrow. I doubt you'll wanna be up half the night with the girls here and then have to worry about them and the rest of your students tomorrow. I appreciate the offer though." The professor replied with a smile.
"I do what I have to do to make sure my students are taken care of, both in school and out of it." Ms. Keane said with a smile as she looked at the puffs.
"That's very sweet of you Ms. Keane, but I think we can handle it for tonight." The professor replied with a smile.
"Alright, but if you or the girls need anything just give me a call." Ms. Keane instructed with a smile.
"Will do, thank you Ms. Keane." The professor thanked as he took a bite of pizza.
"You're welcome John, and thank you for dinner." Ms. Keane thanked as she finished her pizza.
"I should get the girls to bed, I'll walk you out when you're ready." The professor informed as he stood up.
"Thank you John, is there anything I can do for you or the girls before I go?" Ms. Keane asked with a smile.
"Will you read us a story Ms. Keane, you have the prettiest reading voice?" Bubbles asked with a smile.
"Sure Bubbles, what do you want me to read to you?" Ms. Keane asked as she walked over by Bubbles.
"Can you make up a story?" Bubbles asked with a smile.
"I'll try. You girls get tucked into bed while I think of a story." Ms. Keane instructed as she pondered what kind of story to tell the girls.
"Okay." Bubbles replied as she and Blossom floated into the living room and curled up next to Ami, Maylyn, and Buttercup.
"Alright girls. Once upon a time there was a magical kingdom ruled by three adorable princesses of pink, blue, and green; and there was also their mommy, the queen of ice. The queen of ice was the best queen ever, she was kind and smart, and she took care of her three little princesses. One day, the three little princesses went out to play in the woods, before they left the queen told them to stay on the grassy path and not to stray from it. The three little princess said okay and went off to play. Shortly after they arrived in the woods, the blue princess saw a cute butterfly and decided to chase it. Forgetting what the queen had said, she left the path to chase the butterfly. The other two princesses tried to warn her, but she couldn't hear them, so they had to follow her. After a while the blue princess lost the butterfly and decided to head back to the path, but when she looked around she noticed she was lost. The green and pink princesses quickly found her so she wouldn't be alone, but now they were all lost. So they yelled for their mommy. Mommy, we're lost and scared, please save us! The princesses yelled, the queen heard their yells and summoned a royal knight to find her girls. Oh sir knight, please venture into the forest and find my girls. The queen pleaded with the brave knight. Do not fear your majesty, for I, sir Maylyn of Derby Tantes, shall not fail you. The brave knight replied, and with that she was off on a quest to find the princesses. The brave knight mounted her trusty steed, Roller S. Kate, and took off into the woods to find the princesses. She rode swiftly and truly towards the cries of the princesses, and found them quickly. Fear not your majesties, for I am here to rescue thee. Sir Maylyn proclaimed as she sat atop her mighty steed. We are saved, thank you brave knight. The princesses of red thanked. You're welcome your majesties, now climb aboard and we shall return to the queen. Sir Maylyn instructed as she held her hand out to the princesses. The three princesses climbed atop the horse and rode with sir Maylyn back to the castle. Hark my queen, for I have returned with the princesses. Sir Maylyn proclaimed as she lead the princesses back into the throne room. Thank you brave knight, I'm so happy to have my babies back. The queen thanked as she hugged her little princesses. We're sorry we left the path mommy, we promise not to do it again. The princess of red apologized as she hugged her mother. It's okay my daughter, for curiosity is a good thing, just be wise about what you do with it. The queen replied with a smile. Yes mommy. The three princesses replied as they hugged the queen again. From that day on, the princesses never wandered the forest alone again, and they all lived happily ever after. The end." Ms. Keane finished with a smile.
"That was the best story every." Bubbles quietly said with a yawn as she slowly closed her eyes.
"Thank you Ms. Keane." Blossom thanked as she closed her eyes.
"That was a good story Ms. Keane, thank you." Buttercup quietly said as she fell asleep.
"Goodnight girls." Ms. Keane whispered as she stood up to leave the room.
"Thank you for doing that Ms. Keane. Is there anything I can get you before you leave?" The professor asked with a smile as Ms. Keane walked into the kitchen.
"Would you mind walking me to my car?" Ms. Keane asked with a small blush.
"Of course not." The professor replied as he held his arm out to Ms. Keane.
"Thank you John." Ms. Keane thanked as she took the professor's arm, then walked with him out the front door.
"Any time Ms. Keane, and thank you for being here tonight, you were a big help with everything." The professor thanked as he opened the car door for Ms. Keane.
"I was happy to be here for them. Take care, and call if you or any of them need anything." Ms. Keane instructed as she got in her car.
"I will, thanks again Ms. Keane." The professor thanked as he closed Ms. Keane's door and waited for her to drive away. After Ms. Keane left the professor went back inside and turned the lights off for the night. "Goodnight girls." The professor whispered as he crept up the steps to his room to go to bed himself.
"Goodnight everyone, see you in the morning." Maylyn whispered as she fell asleep.
"Nighty night." Bubbles quietly said as she and Blossom snuggled up to Ami, while Buttercup snuggled up to Maylyn.
