Well, here it is! The final chapter! Excuse me while I celebrate actually finishing something for once! I appreciate anyone who has taken the time to read the utter nonsense that is my head canon and suffered through me trying to get my bearings on writing once more. Tis been a pleasure.

Also, finally time for the song "Green Eyes" by JOSEPH! This song is what inspired this scene which is what inspired the whole story XD.

Once out of her mirror, Raven paced back and forth in her room, bracing herself for what she was about to do. She wasn't sure what was more terrifying, apologizing to Beast Boy or telling him that she…

that she…

Okay so maybe just start with the apologizing.

She was resolved that by the end of the conversation at the minimal she could convince him to stay, even though she wasn't actually sure why Mento wanted him for this mission. Either way she was sure she could convince him. Focus Raven! She opened her door with a whoosh, only to be stopped by a little red box claiming its stake of the hallway. Hastily she opened it, the sticker and handwriting giving away who it was from. And just like last time there were only two words on the card.

I'm Sorry

Her heart stopped. Inside was the lira. He was giving it to her. Why would he be giving it to her? Unless…

Despite her blood being frozen she made her way to ops as quickly as possible. Unable to sense his aura in their shared hallway, she knew he wasn't in his bedroom. Upon entering the common room, she realized he wasn't there either. No one was. She glanced around, noticing a note on the table near Cyborg's keys.

Hey Rae

Beast Boy's Party is canceled. The three of us should be back soon.

-Cy

She was too late. Her heart broke in half. He must have decided to leave early, and everyone else went to say goodbye. That's why he gave her the coin, to let her know he wasn't planning on keeping his promise. Raven slunk down to the floor. Her breathing was shallow, tears were threatening to spill out and her powers were starting to crackle. A few lightbulbs broke as she tried to steady herself. The black energy was starting to twist out, thick and viscous like a snake. She flicked open her communicator hoping to get a hold of somebody, the locator app still running from the last time she used it. A blinking green dot signaled to her she still might have time for one last ditch effort.

"He's still in town." She breathed out in relief, her powers starting to dispel.

Just as she was about to open a portal the keys on the counter caught her eye. She smiled. Maybe it was time for a bit grander of a gesture.

The door to the T-car slammed shut. Mirrors adjusted, seat belt on, keys in the ignition. She popped in Beast Boy's mix and hit track number 8. She pressed her foot harder on the gas pedal that she ever had before. The tires screeched as she tore out of the garage.

Could have been the way the moonlight hit the dashboard

Passenger window rolled down

That got me thinking, there's something we should talk about

It's not worth waiting out

She opened the tracker in the car's navigation system and set it to Beast Boy's communicator. Soon she was racing through the underground tunnel in an effort to get closer to the blinking green dot. The lights in the tunnel flickered as the roaring of the engine echoed off the walls.

I can give you space if you need it

You can walk away, I'm not leaving

There's pride in my mouth, I got used to the taste

But I'll swallow it now and I'll be first to say

The pit of her stomach tightened in excitement, and she could feel it start to burn through her body and catch itself in her lungs. She was on the main roads now, taking sharp corners and not slowing down. She was drunk off the exhilaration and adrenaline. Across the street at the burger joint Cyborg did a double take, that wasn't his car that just ran a red light was it?

Those green eyes are my green light

I'm giving up on control

You see red lights

I see me blowing straight through to you

If we're headed for the cliffside

I'm ready for the fall if you know me at all

You know I don't need lights to decided

I'm not changing my mind.

It felt like something was pinching her heart, the green dot was moving now. Realizing it seemed to be heading back towards the tarmac she jerked the wheel hard, pulling the car into a very illegal U-Turn. Hopefully she'd be able to cut him off.

We could both play the pretender

Circling round this parking lot

While one of us still remembers

We're lucky to have what we've got

Cyborg nearly chocked on his burger. That was definitely his car, going miles over the speed limit and heading back in the direction of the tower. He ran back over to try and track down Robin and Starfire, someone must have stolen it.

We're taking the room for breathing.

You can walk away, I'm not leaving

There's pride in your mouth, you got use to the taste

Can you swallow it now when you hear me say

Those green eyes are my green light

I'm giving up on control

You see red lights

I see me blowing straight through to you

If we're headed for the cliffside

I'm ready for the fall If you know me at all

You know I don't need lights to decided

I'm not changing my mind

Her heart was pumping along to the song's tempo as it started to rise. Taking one last reckless turn she found herself at the edge of the landing pad. She caught a glimpse of the familiar jet back in the corner, the lights were on but no noise from the engine quite yet. She made it. Screeching to a halt she leapt from the car and into a portal. The final lyrics of the song were fading away as she melted into obsidian.

Thought I could read you

But I lost my place

Now we're on different pages, I need you

Thought I could read you

But I lost my place

Now we're on different pages, I need you

Beast Boy had left the jet a few minutes ago, taking a few moments to look back with fondness once he'd reached the end of the ramp. He closed his eyes, still shuffling emotions around, and took a deep breath as he walked a few more paces in an effort to settle. Suddenly he found himself knocked to the ground by none other than…

"Raven?"

She was winded, panting. He was in silent shock. Once they both made it to their feet, she bowed her head, resting her arms on her thighs while she caught her breath. He stared at her incredulously.

"What are you doing?"

"Don't leave."

"Huh?"

"Don't leave. Please." It was then she finally raised her head, capturing his green eyes with her violet gaze.

"Raven…I…" And just like before, time stopped, and his heart melted. It felt as if it was starting to drip down his ribcage, the feelings leaking into every part of his body. Just like before he was completely taken aback because Raven was hugging him. He felt her hands gripping into his back in a kind of desperation that didn't quite suit her.

"Beast Boy I'm sorry, but please…please don't leave."

This time though he hugged her back. His arms circled around her waist as he pulled her closer into him, burying his face in her neck.

"I'm not."

"WHAT?" Romantic moment crushed, he felt her push herself off his chest to stare at him with utter disbelief.

"I'm not leaving…didn't you get my note? And the coin?"

"The note that said I'm sorry? As in…I'm sorry I'm leaving?"

"Oh… hehehe I meant like.. sorry for…that whole thing and I'm actually going to stay."

"But then... why would you give me the coin? As in, here I'm no longer keeping this promise?" She had to suppress the urge to slap him in the head. He had to suppress the urge not to burst into laughter.

"Oh… uhhh…I meant it as in hey! Remember the coin! Of course I'm going to stay! I kinda wanted to give it you though like…as a gesture?". He grinned at her sheepishly, scratching the back of his neck. She was speechless and looked as if she'd just seen Mad Mod dressed like Uncle Sam. God…it was if they were speaking two entirely different languages. She wanted to scream.

"You're such an idiot". She glared at him, her breath finally starting to settle.

Beast Boy started to panic, and with said panic came a healthy dose of word vomit.

"I realized I was being dumb and honestly Rae I'm sorry. I just came here to talk to them again, smooth things over a bit and let them know I'm not going. And then you know, all the goodbyes and stuff. I really didn't mean to make you panic or anyth…." however something just out of his line of sight shut him up. He reached out, grabbing her forearm and gently easing her closer to him. Just enough so he could peer behind her, make sure what he saw was real.

"Hold on…did you…did you drive here?"

Her features contorted into something mischievous, dusted with affection.

"I stole the T-Car."

It was his turn to be breathless.

She smiled, eyes betraying how much she cared before saying.

"I need my partner in crime."

And it was as if suddenly they'd discovered their Rosetta stone, their lingua franca. They were finally on the same page, finally speaking the same tongue. There was only one thing Beast Boy could do now.

Still holding her forearm he tugged her again, this time bringing her all the way into him, his other hand raised to gently cup her face. Raven's breath hitched as she watched him closed his eyes and felt him tip her chin up ever so slightly. And then…he kissed her. Her powers drifted out, dissipated and spotty like a sort of dark snow. But there was no destruction, just delicate black wisps and spots twirling around them like black fireflies. But the only thing that existed to her right now was her best friend, and her eyes closed as well as she felt herself slip deeper into the embrace. Neither one of them registered the noise of the jet engine coming to life. Beast Boy only turning his head away when he felt the harsh winds whip their faces, as the plane lifted itself into the sky to take off. He looked up and smiled, catching Rita's eye, before turning back to pull Raven into another kiss.

And when they finally broke away, in the same language, at the same time, with the same sincerity, they both said the same three words.

"I love you."

BAM!

It is… done! This was as long as I had planned it to be, and I think a fairly good place to end. HOWEVER, I would very much be open to an epilogue challenge! Especially if there's a scene or something anyone would be particularly instead in reading.

Either way I'm counting this as a hard win since I've actually finished something! It may not be perfect, but if every porkchop were perfect we wouldn't have hot dogs.

Thanks for reading!

XO ES.
