Sorry for the delay everyone!
Last week I had a bad writer's block that halted me to write anything for a while. I would either end up scrapping the work or just couldn't write a page. Fortunately, I was able to get right back at it this week!
Here is the latest chapter! Hope everyone enjoys it! ^.^
The bright orange sun has begun to fall in the City of Kuoh, showing indications that night is coming. Considering it is the weekend, many citizens are out to either have fun at bars, shopping, theaters or just going for a family dinner.
However, that's not the case in the Makasha's household. Loud chattering can be heard inside; lights shine through the windows. Many people who are strolling past must halt to glance at the house, listening to the chattering and wondering what is occurring.
After being met with a lovely birthday surprise, Akeno thanked everyone whole-heartedly for everything with tears of joy. Following that, Akame and her group that oversees the cooking returned to the kitchen to finish up the remaining dishes for dinner. Koneko and her group also needed to finish the final touch on their delectable desserts. Fortunately, Yao, Venelana, and Grayfia graciously lend their assistance which is a big help for the children. Jonathan, Sirzech, and Zeoticus decided to take it easy in the backyard, relaxing and chatting with each other while drinking a bottle of red wine that Jonathan opened.
Akeno and the rest of her friends are sited in the living room, chattering among each other. All hold a bright smile on their face and laughing about the work that it took to prepare everything for her birthday. One person that is absent is Nawin Makasha.
Currently, he is sited outside in the front yard to catch a breath of fresh air. A warm smile makes way to his face when hearing the sound of Akeno's laughter rings in his ears from inside. The real reason he is currently out here is for Akeno to have some time with the group without him being a distraction, knowing how she always loves to interact with him and can overlook the others.
A cold breeze blows by, moving the Makasha's soft black lock. Slowly, he opens his eyes when hearing a footstep coming from the right and turns to see Akame standing there, wearing a black apron. "Hey," Nawin speaks, watching the Knight makes way towards him and take a seat beside on the marble bench.
Akame turns her head to look at her King, wearing a faint and soft smile "Why are you out here, Nawin-kun?" "For Akeno and the others to have time to chat. I will be a distraction for her" "How thoughtful of you, as always" Akame state and gets a chuckle out from the boy "Just who I am."
The Knight notices something in her King's eyes. She sees distress in those beautiful dark brown orbs. "Is something wrong?" the Knight asks, concern heard in her voice "Hehe," Nawin chuckles, a fond smile form on his lip "You always pick it up, aye?" "I'm your Knight... It's my job always to see you well, Nawin-kun. That being both mentally and physically."
The Makasha goes silent for a minute; he gazes up at the beautiful dark sky clear from any clouds. "It's just I had a bad dream today... A dream I haven't visited in a long time and was content with that," Nawin's eyes lower slightly, pain seeps into the brown orbs "Felt so real, and I felt so helpless... Something I never wanted to feel again."
Akame listens closely to every word then moves up to stare at the sky. "You may have felt helpless in the past, Nawin-kun" she starts, speaking in a soft and warm tone "We both... were helpless in the pasts, but we endured it and pushed on. We may have failed in important stuff, stuff that we care so deeply for and... That feeling of helplessness can return no matter how content you currently feel in your life. However," Akame turns to Nawin, seeing him looking at her with interest. She offers a smile "You should also remember where you currently are, Nawin-kun. You have grown stronger, you have saved lives, you have pulled people out of the pit of helplessness. You have persevered, and I am happy you did, Nawin-kun."
Nawin's mouth was slightly open by the speech his Knight gave him, she pours her heart out on that, and he knows why it felt so genuine. Because she has felt similar pains to him. Even though he knows of her past and it may be very different from him, the feeling is what that isn't much of a difference between the two of them.
Closing his mouth, Nawin smile warmly then stands up, turning to face his Knight. "Thanks, Akame" he utters, offering his right arm out which she takes, grasping his hand softly and is pulled up to her feet. "I needed that," Nawin says, gripping her hand still, holding it firmly "I know, that's why I helped" Akame reply, tilting her head to the side and smile more widely, which makes her look cute in the Makasha's opinion.
Nawin releases Akame's hand and turns to the front door "I'll head inside now," he says "Yeah," she whispers, holding her hands together and gives one more smile "Go have fun inside, Nawin-kun" she says before turning around and heads to the backyard.
Inside
"That's a lot of gifts there," Akeno comments, staring at the stack of presents set underneath the wall television. All of them wrapped in colorful papers which is birthday themed. Sairis is snoozing on the Himejima's lap, tired of running around the whole day. The wonderful massage she is receiving from the raven-haired girl did help put ger to sleep quickly. "All of us had to get you something," Yuuto says, smiling brightly "It was added more when Zeoticus-sama and Sirzech-sama along with their wives arrived with their presents" "I see," Akeno whispers in a shaky tone.
Rias is sited on the right and gently swings a right arm around her friend's shoulder, pulling her in "You going to cry again?" she asks with slight jest which garners a giggle from the latter "Perhaps." Akeno uses the free hand to wipe the tears threatening to spill "From the bottom of my heart," she looks at the people in the room, giving them a smile of gratitude "Thank you for everything."
"You're our friend, Akeno-senpai" Issei state, wearing his trademark grin "Of course we will work hard to deliver you the best birthday possible. Everything here was Rias's idea, and Nawin also wanted it to be as best as it can be." "He did?" Akeno asks "He went as far as begging us," Elise insert "Begging is a strong word," Misako says before turning to the Himejima, offering a smile "But, Nawin-kun did ask us to make this the best birthday possible. He really wanted it to be perfect for you, Akeno-chan."
"Careful Misako," an unmistakable soothing voice enters the room that causes everyone to turn their head to see Nawin standing at the entrance, arms crossed, and a warm smile wore on his face "Anymore, and Akeno will break down again."
Akeno gently places Sairis on Rias's lap to stand up and make way towards her lover. "Thank you, Nawin-kun," she utters and hugs him, holding firmly to his warm body. The Makasha returns the gesture and shifts his head to give a soft kiss on the girl's cheek "No problem... I'm glad you are happy" he whispers.
The rest watch the couple with smiles on their faces. One person who had a hard time watching is Misako, who's smile become strain ever slightly and shifts her eyes down to the ground, her toes digging into the carpet.
"Alright, listen up, everyone!" Rias exclaims, clapping her hands together to gain the attention of all in the room. "Since we got to wait for dinner, let's play a game to pass the time" she advises "I'd rather do that than just meaninglessly idle around" Ravel agrees in her ever royally and mannered tone "What shall we play?"
"We should play anything too complicated that needs set up" Yuuto state "Since dinner should be ready sooner than later" "Good point, Yuuto" Rias replies, closing her eyes to think for a moment. Everyone just silently waits until the Gremory's eyes snap open and a grin form on her lip "Let's play a game of Truth or dare!" she announces.
With the game selected, everyone huddles up at the center of the room and takes a seat in a circle formation, on the soft carpet. Fortunately, there are a total of ten people here; therefore, it wasn't difficult to make the formation without getting too cramped.
The individuals that are in the living room are Akeno, Nawin, Rias, Issei, Riser, Ravel, Misako, Elise, Yuuto, and Wendy. All are looking forward to the game, some more than others. Misako, Rias, Akeno, and Issei are the most excited of the bunch, shown by the bright smile worn on their faces.
"So," Rias rubs her hands together "Who will be starting the game?" "I'll go first," Riser casually inserts, leaning his back on the couch "Alright, go ahead." Shifting his head to the right the Phenex's sapphire color eyes meet with Yuuto's bluish-gray orbs "Truth or dare?" he asks, "I'll go with dare" "Hmm... I dare you to go into the kitchen and slap Xenovia's ass." The moment that sentence leaves Riser's mouth, everyone's expression in the circle turn stunned, particularly Yuuto's.
"Ahahahaha!" Issei breaks into a fit of laughter, dropping to his back, gripping his stomach. Rias coughs, trying to suppress her giggle behind her hand but it breaks out. She finds it even funnier when knowing that her Knight holds feeling towards his fellow Knight. Akeno openly laughs at the very amusing situation and at the look of fluster on the Kiba's face.
Riser holds a big smirk "So, you going to do it or wuss out?" he asks in a taunting tone which serves to anger Yuuto, who answers with a glare. "You know you don't have to," Misako reminds in concern "No, Misako" Issei inserts "He needs to do it! It will probably do him some good" "Like finally getting to second base" Riser assert, garnering chuckles from the people who hold knowledge of the blonde's feeling.
Not wanting to have himself look weak due to pride, Yuuto sits up, his expression becomes serious "Fine, I won't back down, Riser" he says, spatting the Phenex's name before turning around and heads to the kitchen. "You are so mean," Misako says, puffing her cheek childishly "Meh," Riser shrugs in response "He is either going to get a punch in the stomach or slap in the face" Issei notes, after returning to sitting. "Yeah," Akeno smile, holding onto Nawin's right arm firmly "Xenovia may like him, but she isn't a kind of girl who'd appreciate that kind of action" "Perhaps," Riser replies, waiting for some signal from the kitchen area.
"... Oi! What the hell was that!" "Gah!" loud voices explode from the kitchen which startles everyone in the living room. Some wince when hearing Yuuto's grunts of pain erupt follow by a door slamming open then shuts with a boom. "Uh-huh," Wendy whispers, concern for the Knight's health "Sounds painful," Elise bluntly states, "At least he shows that he is a man," Ravel says, smirking in amusement.
Yuuto suddenly steps back into the room, clenching his stomach and groaning in pain. "Whoa," Issei utters, seeing how badly his friend is wincing from the injury "You ok there, bud?" "No," Yuuto grunts, walking back to his spot and slowly takes a seat. "I'm guessing she didn't like it," Misako comments with a sheepish smile "It wasn't her that punched me" "What?" Rias asks, tilting her head "Who did?" "Kokoro was not amused..." "Ahahaha," Issei sniggers which receive him a glare from the blonde Knight "Sorry, I should have warned you that she isn't a fan of those type of behavior. However, trust me when I say you got it off easy with only a punch in the stomach" "Was that supposed to make me feel better?" "Just a bit."
"W-what was her reaction though?" Wendy asks "Yeah, before you got punched in the gut" Elise inserts with a short giggle. "She looked... flustered and just froze" "That's the sign for you to continue" Riser comments and gets a hand whacking down on the top of his head courtesy by Ravel, who wears a look of disgust "Very inappropriate, Big brother."
Riser grunts, rubbing his head and wincing in pain. If it were anyone else, he would have set them in flames for that. "Ignoring that," Rias turn to her Knight, smiling in support, "I think that's a good sign, Yuuto... Even though you went in a more direct route" "And just edging on the harass route" Nawin inserts, causing some to chuckle.
Yuuto releases his stomach and exhales; his expression relaxes. "Riser," he speaks, immediately set sight to the Phenex "Truth or dare," "Huh, I'll go with truth" the latter reply with a smirk, thinking he is saved from any embarrassment. Unfortunately for the Phenex, Yuuto did not get frustrated; instead, a grin makes way to his face. "You know I vaguely remember something interesting and funny happened the last time we hung out in the arcade a couple of weeks back. Could you remind me what exactly happened, Swizer?"
The moment that name is uttered, Riser's expression darkens, and he sits up, glaring at the Knight. Issei starts sniggering like crazy which quickly has everyone grow very curious about this story. "You," Riser growls "Come now," Yuuto's grin never lesson "Don't want to wuss out, now would you?" "..."
Unable to contain her curiousness anymore, Rias snap to Riser "Oh my satans! Tell us!" "Please do, I am very curious" Akeno inserts, then smirks "Consider this a wish from the birthday girl" she adds. Riser crosses his arms and takes a deep breath before exhaling "... Fine!" he spat.
Flashback
"Ah, man" Issei moan in relaxation, sitting on a booth inside of the arcade's restaurant "Didn't realize we were playing for three hours straight!" "Time does fly when you are having fun," Yuuto reply, sited on the right. Seated on the opposite end is Riser, who has his arms crossed, index fingers tapping "Where the hell is our food and drinks" he spat "Dude," Issei looks forward, wearing a blank look "We just ordered like two minutes ago" "I don't care," "Man, you really are a jerk" "You only just figured that out?" Riser retort with a smirk.
After a couple of minutes past, the group spot a waitress coming toward their table, holding a tray containing their burgers and drinks. She stops beside the booth and greets with a bright smile "Here are your orders!" she says and places the tray down before heading towards another table to collect a new order.
The boys grab their selected orders and bring it in front of them. The burger is wrapped in white paper to keep it warm, but Issei notices something interesting about it. "Oh, so that's why they were asking for our name," he says, pointing at the burger "My name is written on it" "Yeah, mine too" Yuuto inserts.
The two looks forward, seeing Riser glaring heatedly at his burger. "What's wrong?" Yuuto asks "Did the burger look at you funny?" Issei jokes. Instead of a reply, Riser grabs the burger and thrust it toward the two's face. Both blinks and look closely "Swiser..." they read out and lean back, a smile cracking on their faces.
Riser sees the smile and throws the burger down then glares "Don't you two fucking dares call me that! It's not funny!" he shouts and stands up, walking out of the booth "I'm fucking ordering another one and going to write my name down this time! I won't fucking eat this one that got my name wrong!" he shouts, throwing a tantrum then storms to the counter.
Yuuto unwraps his burger then turns to Issei "Don't know why Swiser is getting so upset" "Eh," Issei takes a sip of coke before placing the cup down "You know how ole Swis is, always short-tempered."
Present
"Ahahahahahaha!" laughter erupts around the circle from everyone, excluding Riser by the story. "None of you dare call me by that name!" he quickly comments, openly glaring at each individual "Don't be like that, Swis" Issei says "Yeah, Swiser" Rias nod, grinning "You need to learn to take a joke a bit" "I say Swiser can be an improvement" Akeno inserts, giggling "See, Swiser," Yuuto state, smiling "Everyone loves it."
"You can also customize it in many ways," Elise assert "Like Swiselous" "Or Swisly" Misako adds, laughing out. "Oh, the embarrassment," Ravel utters and giggles when seeing her brother's flustered face.
"Now, now," Nawin cuts in, smiling faintly "Let's not be so hard on him, everyone" he states, making Riser turn to him and smirk "Thanks Nawin" "No problem, Swishelia." Everyone burst out laughing once again while Riser stands up, gritting his teeth tightly while his eyes are raging like fire "I am heading outside to take a fresh air before I burn this whole place down!" he shouts and storms toward the front door.
Everyone watches him swing the door open and steps out before slamming the door shut. "Hehehe," Rias is still giggling by the look on her friend's face when Nawin said the name "That's a great story, Yuuto-kun," she says, turning towards him, smiling "I am so glad you reveal that to us." "I knew everyone would like it" he replies, chuckling "And I was able to embarrass him while telling you all about it, so I made it to two for one situation."
Issei turns to Nawin and grins "By the way, nice one on Swizhelia, Nawin. I got to remember that one" "Thanks." "I hope he won't be causing any trouble," Misako state, knowing the Phenex can be very reckless when angered "Don't worry," Ravel inserts, having her hand dismissively "He will be taking a long walk to ease his mind before returning, unless someone is dumb enough to provoke him everything will be fine."
"With that settled," Rias clap her hands "This game shall proceed and since Riser has left," she turns her head to the right "Yuuto, please pick someone to continue the game" "Understood." Scanning around, the Kiba's sight stops at a certain pink-haired girl "Misako," he calls "I pick you," "Alright, thanks!" she replies with excitement.
Contemplating whom to choose, Misako glance around, carefully looking at everyone's faces "Hmm, Akeno-san, truth or dare" "Oh, I will go with truth" "Has there been anything Nawin-kun has done that annoyed you?" "Wow," Rias nods "Good question, Misako," she says and like the rests, shifts to the Himejima for an answer.
"I mean," Akeno thinks hard on this, still holding onto her lover's arm, gripping it a bit tighter "Aside from his ability to attract too much attention from the opposite sex... I can't really think of anything else, Misako" she says, smiling apologetically "No," Misako shakes her head, smiling in happiness but Wendy is the only one that can see that smile holding a bit of sadness in them "He really is a lovely person," "He sure is," Akeno reply and gives the Makasha a kiss on the cheek.
Nawin smiles at Akeno, but he then takes a glance at Misako, feeling something was wrong. He could hear edginess in her tone when speaking to Akeno. Misako catches the glimpse and gives a reassure bright smile, signaling to him that everything is fine.
"So it is my turn now," Akeno announce and immediately set eye contact with her best friend "Truth or dare?" "I'm not backing down," Rias proclaims, wearing a smirk "So I'll go with a dare."
Knowing her friend isn't a person to get easily embarrassed, Akeno needs to come up with an excellent dare to rattle the mischievous and tough Gremory. "Rias, I dare you to head to the backyard and bark like a dog three times," Akeno says and Rias's smirking expression immediately breaks into shock "What?!" she shouts, her cheeks turning flustered "Otou-sama and Onii-sama are out there!" "And that's why it is embarrassing, my dear sister" Akeno sings in response, garnering chuckles around.
Rias clench her hands tightly; her face turns as red as her hair. However, not a person to back down, she stands up and stump towards the back door of the house.
Everyone hears the door shuts then looks at each other before getting up and breaks toward the back windows that give them the full view of the backyard. They all see Rias stopping right at the center of the yard then turns to see the three adults, blinking, wondering why the young girl just randomly walked out there and hadn't uttered a word.
Rias takes a deep breath, trying to calm her rapid heartbeat, feeling the eyes behind her. Unable to look at them while doing this shameful act, Rias decide to have her back face them, then takes another deep breath. "Woof-Woof, Arf-Arf, Ruff-Ruff!" she barks to the sky, her face turns entirely red in embarrassment.
"Gahahahaha!" everyone inside breaks into a fit of laughter by the act and the looks of stunned and dumbfounded on the adult's faces. "I-I can't believe she did that," Issei speaks through the laughter "This is so comical," Elise remarks, giggling nonstop. Nawin glance to the right and spot Akeno recording a video of the entire event "Nice," he smirks "Ufufufu, just have to capture this rare moment."
Rias turn around and immediately bolts back inside the house at a rapid pace. Jonathan blinks and turns to the crimson-haired men "Does she do that often?" "If she does then I have been missing it," Sirzech reply, laughing. Zeoticus wears a smile before taking a sip of the wine "Looks like the kids are having fun."
A few minutes past and the group are back in the circle formation at the living room. Rias still looks displeased of the dare she's received and holds a stern expression. "We are going to move on and never speak of this again," she says in a commanding tone. Nawin glance at Akeno, knowing about the video. She catches the look and returns with a sly wink.
Rias shifts her sight to the Makasha, a mischievous smile makes way to her lip "Truth or dare, little brother" "Dare, and stop calling me that" "I dare you to wear this costume for the rest of the day!" Rias exclaims and flicks her finger to have a medium size carbon box form in front of the Makasha.
Akeno releases her lover's arm to allow him to open the box. Nawin picks it up and about to open it "Stop!" Rias cuts in, wiggling her index finger "Not here, go to the bathroom and change" "Now that just spells concern for me," Nawin reply "Hehehe, you'll have to see" Rias's sends a playful wink while the rest looks on in great amusement.
Nawin wanted to burn this box down, knowing it is going to be something embarrassing for him, but what is stopping him is the girl sited next to him. He does not doubt that she will enjoy whatever he will be wearing in this box, along with the rest in this house. Swallowing his pride, Nawin slowly stands up and silently exits the living room.
"What's in the box, Rias-san?" Misako asks, turning to the giggling girl "Hehehe, it is something kawaii! That's all I'll hint" "Nawin can't pull of a kawaii costume," Issei inserts "I beg to defer," Akeno replies, smiling in anticipation to see what her lover will look like "I say Nawin-kun will pull it off with how much faith I have in Rias's clothes picking" "Oh, thanks, Akeno" the Gremory replies with a grin.
Everyone promptly snaps to the entrance when hearing footsteps in the hallway. All are holding their breath, eagerly waiting to see what their friend will be wearing. Then out walks, Nawin, dressed in a fluffy purple Neko long-sleeve sweater with a matching color long pants. The front of the sweater has an adorable black cat that has its right paw up like it is giving a high-five while wearing a cute smile.
All are looking at the unforgettable sight in front of them, stunned. "First off," Nawin speaks, lifting his right arm up to show the cat paw design underneath the sleeve "I am rocking this." Instantly everyone burst out laughing by such an unexpected comment from the Makasha, and with the blank expression, he wore while saying it makes it funnier.
"P-please pull up the hood!" Rias beg through her laughs "Yes, please, Nawin-kun!" Akeno joins, wearing a bright smile. Nawin's expression soften and sighs, before reaching both his hands back and slowly pulls the hood over his head to show two adorable Neko ears.
"Aww," Misako gushes at sight "Nawin-kun," she starts, beaming with a smile "You look so adorable" "I can't believe you pulled it off! You can really do everything, bro!" Issei comments, chuckling "How does the power of cuteness feel, Nawin?" Elise asks, "Oh just lovely," he replies, rolling his eyes and stuffs his hands in the sweater's pocket.
Nawin makes way back to his seat and immediately gets glomp by Akeno "You are so cute," she whispers and gives a couple of kisses all over his face "T-thanks," he replies with a faint blush. Akeno giggles and sits back up, pulling him up as along the way. "Guess I picked the right one right, Akeno?" Rias says with a wink "Ufufufu, as always you pick the best style, Rias."
"Now," Nawin set his sight to Issei "Truth or dare," "I'll go with dare!" the other exclaim with a big grin, not fearing for anything. "Since your lover has done this to me," Nawin points at the sweater "I'll make you suffer," "Psh," Issei scoffs, waving his hand dismissively "Let's see what you got for me, pal" 'Really, Issei-kun?' Yuuto sweatdrops, seeing his friend is just pushing it and will no doubt regret it.
"For that comment," Nawin says, his eyes shine in ominous "I dare you to head to the bathroom, shuts the light and utter the name 'Bloody Mary' five times before turning the light back on. Also, by the way, the light in the hallway bathroom is quite dim so it should work." The rest turns to Issei to see the horrified expression on his pale face; they can see sweats start forming on his forehead already. "N-no way," he says, shaking his head rapidly "I am not dying today!" he shouts with such seriousness that it causes some to sweatdrop, seeing how much he believes in the folklore.
"Wuss," Nawin assert "You, a devil who can go toe to toe with Ultimate-class devil is afraid of a little evil spirit" "A bit embarrassing there, Issei" Elise state, clapping her hands down on his shoulder "Come now, don't let some lowly evil spirit give you fear" "Man up," Ravel bluntly insert.
Issei turns to Rias, who shrugs in response "Up to you, honey." Issei turns back to the rest, seeing them staring at him with anticipation "All us boys did our dares and truth without much of a fuss," Nawin adds "Indeed," Yuuto nod and turns to Issei, giving a supporting smile "You can do it, Issei-kun."
"Damn it," the Hyoudou sighs and begrudgingly stands up "You guys wait by the hallway!" he shouts, looking at all "Only then will I do it," "That's fine," Akeno nods and rises to her feet with Nawin, the rest follow suit. Everyone enters the hallway and wait by the walls, watching Issei standing in front of the bathroom's door. "Well," Ravel start, getting impatient "Head in already," "G-good luck," Wendy adds.
Issei takes a deep breath then exhales, he grabs the knob and pushes the door open, but before entering, he turns around to look at Nawin "If I die in there then I will forever haunt you!" "I'll just kick your ass into the afterlife. Now get in there."
Issei enters the bathroom and shuts the door behind. Everyone listens closely and hears the light switch flicks to shut. "You have to chant the name five times," Rias informs "Wasn't it thirteen?" Ravel inserts "That is what some believe but I've studied a book involving horror folklore not long ago, and it says five is the correct times you need to repeat the name" "I see."
"I wouldn't believe this is real, but after hearing about the supernatural world, I don't know what to believe on this," Misako comments, "Yeah, it is hard to say if some of these folklores are real" Rias reply, very interested to see how this will turn out.
"... Bloody Mary!" Issei starts the first chant, and the rest pays close attention, being utterly silent and listen. "Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary... Bloody Mary." It turns silent and the group sweatdrop when hearing the Hyoudou's teeth chattering from the inside. "... Bloody Mary!" he finishes the last chant with the loudest voice then flicks the light on.
"Rahhh!" a monstrous roar explodes from inside the bathroom that startles the group. "Kyaaaaaaaa!" Issei's shriek follows suit, and the door burst open with him blasting out of the room and slams face-first onto the wall. "What's in there?" without fear, Rias step into the bathroom and turns to the mirror to see a monstrous shadowy figure in the mirror, glaring at her with glowing red eyes. She sweatdrops and turns to the hallway "Nawin-kun, did you plant this illusion when changing in the bathroom?" "Perhaps," he answers, but the faint smile on his lip gives the definite answer.
Rias and the rest chuckle at the prank while Issei, who is now on the ground is holding his beating chest, breathing hoarsely, still in fright. Rias extend her right arm toward the mirror, her hand glows crimson, and the shadowy figure disburse from existence, clearing the illusion.
Rias walk out of the bathroom and is about to speak but is cut off when the front door of the house opens, catching everyone's attention.
Stepping into the house is Lucy and Azazel with Gabriel and Irina behind. All four blink the moment they entered, watching at the unexpected sign in the hallway. To the group just standing there to Issei being own the ground, looking like he just came back from the dead, but what got them most stunned is Nawin dressed in the Neko sweater.
"Ahhh! My sweet boy!" Gabriel breaks the silence and blasts forward the surprise Makasha with a big smile on her beautiful face. When in range, she glomps him to the ground with a tight hug. "You are just so cute in that!" she gushes and gives a big smooch on the boy's cheek "What a lovely surprise! Please don't take that off for the rest of the day."
"Lucky brat," Azazel grumbles, knowing millions of men would give an arm to just be touch in that way by The Most Beautiful Women in Heaven. Irina sighs a bit at her teacher's behavior but smiles nonetheless, knowing she has been dying to meet her godson again. "Whoever was able to get my big bro into that sweater deserves an award" Lucy state, grinning like a fox at the scene "It was a dare," Yuuto state "Oh, then that doesn't count" "Awww," Rias pouts in disappointment.
Time Skip
With the arrival of Lucy, Azazel, Grabriel, Irina, and not long after Riser returned from cooling off. The dinner was ready, and presently everyone is in the dining room, sited at the large polish wooden table that the Makasha's bought for this occasion considering their last table couldn't fit the number of people that are attending the birthday party. A significant amount of food is placed on the table, lots being Akeno's personal favorite and the others are more standard food for everyone. It was almost like brunch on the table, and everyone loves it, picking up the selected dishes and placed them on his or her plates, digging into it with eagerness. The desserts are stored in the fridge, waiting to be served after everyone finishes eating the food on the table.
Nawin is sited on the right side of the table, in the middle with Akeno on his right and Irina on the left. Of course, he is still wearing the sweater because of the dare and the most significant reason being his Godmother would start whining if he takes it off.
"Here, love," Akeno pass the tempura towards the Makasha "Thanks," he grabs two and places it on the spare plate. Nawin blinks and looks up to see Sirzech staring at him, wearing this funny smile "Oh for goodness sake," he turns around to see more are still looking at him "Would you all just get over it! I am wearing a Neko sweater!" he exclaims in anger then a sudden flash of light hits him. Nawin blinks and looks toward near the end of the table to see Rias has just taken a photo with her camera "Need to take it for memory sake," she says with that devilish grin before returning to her seat.
"You look so stupid," Riser comments with that Phenex's smirk "Sorry, but I don't care much of an opinion from a person called Swiser," Nawin retorts. The group laughs out while the adults chuckle "I'll flip this table!" Riser threatens "You flip this table, young man" Yao cuts in with a vicious glare that cause the Phenex to gasp "I'll be rearranging your face to the point that the Swiser name will be right at home on it." "Ouch," Lucy utters, wincing at just the tone her mother used, it was so sharp and powerful that it is like a shotgun being fired at one's face.
"Still the ever powerful woman you are, Yao" Gabriel comments, giggling "That's something retirement can't change," Jonathan adds "You damn right it can't" Yao nods, smirking. "This is something I never expected to encounter," Zeoticus suddenly speaks, cutting a slice of steak and brings it to his mouth, eating in a mannerly way that fits his title "What do you mean, dear?" Venelana question, tilting her head.
Zeoticus swallows his food and opens his eyes, smiling in peasantry "Sited on the same table with Azazel, the leader of the Fallen Angel and Gabriel, one of the Seraph from the heavens." "Huh," Azazel smirk "I guess I can see your point, many would be having a hard attack by this view" "Or be revolted depending on which views," Grayfia swiftly adds, and takes a sip of water.
Gabriel gives a warm smile that sets everyone at ease, feeling the kind radiating from that smile "Well, in my view I find this very nice. It shows that if we believe enough and give a chance that the three factions could live in harmony" "I agree with that, Gabriel" Sirzech reply with a smile "I believe such a day will come."
"So," Gabriel turn to Akeno "Young lady, I know we didn't get a chance to talk during the tournament. However, please tell me how you and my dear sweet Nawin met!" "It's a funny story," Akeno grasps Nawin's right hand, holding it firmly "I found him sneaking inside my old house" "Sneaking?" Sirzech repeats, turning to Nawin "Why were you sneaking?" "I was running away from a horde of fangirls, and it was proving, so I ended up hiding at Akeno's house to escape from them" he replies and garners some chuckles around the table "Of course that would be the case" Issei comment.
"The house looked empty, so I just wander around until I stumbled upon a room where I saw Akeno doing this beautiful dancing in front of a shrine," "He was so at awed that he made himself known" Akeno adds, giggling then turns to Gabriel "And that's how we met. I invited him in for tea, and we start chatting for a bit" "That sounds lovely," the Angel smile pleasantly, starting to see Akeno as a sweet and gentle girl, fitting to be the lover to her godson.
A smile of happiness form on Yao's face when listening to the conversation, seeing just how much Akeno has helped Nawin. 'Looking back at it... It almost looked like destiny has a role in it. I have never thought those two would meet, but I am glad I was mistaken.'
"Have you ever had any boyfriends before my sweet Nawin, Akeno?" Gabriel asks and Azazel sweatdrop at this, seeing the Angel sneakily interrogating the young girl. 'Still protective of him even after all these years,' he states, chuckling softly. Akeno is surprised by the expected question but smiles nonetheless, "None, no one has ever caught my attention until I laid my eyes on Nawin-kun" "Aww," Gabriel gushes "It just make you two meeting each other more romantic! He caught your heart, didn't he?" "He sure did," Akeno replies with a smile and turn to give Nawin a quick kiss on the cheek.
"Can you calm down, Gabriel, it is getting a bit too much" Azazel inserts, groaning a bit "You don't think that's romantic?" Gabriel turns to him, her expression turn to stern "It's quite," "Wait... I know that look!" Gabriel points at the Fallen Angel "Azazel! Don't you even start thinking of manipulating my sweet Nawin into an idea of harem!" "What?!" Azazel shouts, blinking "Why would I do such a thing?" he says in such an overactive way that people can't tell if he is serious or not.
Nawin sighs, seeing his godparents bickering over what his love life should be. "You do have a loving godparent," Irina utters, making him turn to her "Yeah." Nawin shifts to Gabriel and a warn smile form on his lip "You know, it's great to see my Aunt Gabriel again, acting like the way I used to remember her. She hasn't changed one bit, and I am glad" "It's good that some things don't change, correct?" Irina asks and gets a nod "Indeed, change is not always good."
"Would you stop hogging all the salmon!" Ravel shouts at Koneko, who pulled the plate filled with salmon dressed in teriyaki sauce "Mine," "It is not yours! Give me some" "... Say please" "I would do no such thing towards you, Kat!" "Kids," Venelana comes in "Don't fight at the table! Now, learn how to share" she scolds in a motherly way.
Koneko pouts and hesitantly pass a cut to Ravel, who grins in victorious "Thank you... Moreover, I'll be taking these" she says and quickly snatches a bowl tuna salad away from Koneko, who hisses in response and glares. "Does two just can't get along," Asia shakes her head and takes a spoonful of pork fried rice "T-they always been like this," Gasper informs "Really?" "Y-yeah, I think it is just a way to show that they are f-friends" "Huh," Asia tilt her head, "I can't see them, but I've noticed they never get physical so you might be right, Gasper-kun.
"Akame-chan, slow down, or you'll start choking!" Misako advise, watching the Knight just utterly devouring everything in her plate "I don't think she's listening," Wendy says, chuckling a bit. Finally, Akame brings the plate down from her mouth and sigh pleasantly "You must be hungry," a voice from across the table state, making her look up to see Nawin watching. She nods, smiling faintly "Cooking these foods has me starving" "And none of us had any proper breakfast" Misako adds "Yeah, we all had a busy morning," Nawin replies.
"By the way," Nawin shifts to Grayfia "Grandma, why are you still dressed in that maid outfit?" "Is there a problem with it?" "No, it's just I think you should dress in more casual clothes in an event like this. You aren't currently working" "Yeah," Rias joins in "You always wear that outfit, Grayfia" "You don't have this weird maid fetish do you, Sirzech?" Nawin asks "What?!" the Satan exclaims in shock while the others around laughs lightly, even Grayfia breaks out a giggle "How could you say such a thing to your big brother" "Oh lord... I already have to deal it with Rias... Just please stop with this brother thing."
"You are fighting a losing battle, Nawin" Kokoro state which causes the boy to sigh "Yeah... Sadly I am aware of this" he grumbles which cause both crimson-haired siblings to chuckle. "Ufufufufu," Venelana giggles "Sirzech and Rias always wanted a little brother, guess they see this in you, Nawin" "I believe my son just hate being the younger sibling," Yao adds, giving a wink to the boy who response with rolling his eyes.
Xenovia drop the can of coke on the table and look up "When will Akeno be opening her presents?" "After dinner shall be ideal" Jonathan answers then turns to the Himejima "Will that be fine, Akeno?" "Yes, that's lovely." She turns to everyone and smiles "I am very curious to see what I'll be getting" "Will you throw away a present if you don't like it?" Riser question "Depending on how bad it is. I hope you didn't get me anything inappropriate, Riser" "If so I am throwing you out of this house, young man" Yao warns "And I'll be telling your mother" Venelana adds "Hey! Stop ganging up on me! Moreover, what kind of person do you think I am?" "Not long ago you were more perverted than Issei" Koneko adds "So you can't blame us for this assumption, Swiser" Yuuto state "... I hate you all."
Time Skip
The dinner comes to an end, and now everyone is digging into the rich desserts to wait for the cake to cool down a bit considered it has been in the fridge the whole day. There is also the matter of Rias needing to write the words on the cake since she insisted on doing it herself instead of leaving it to the cake makers. Nawin decided to leave because he was still full from the brunch earlier and didn't want to eat any dessert due to health reason, considering he already ate a ton some hours ago. Currently, he is heading up the stairs to the second floor, intending to relax at the balcony and catch the cold night air.
He halts when the bathroom door opens and out walks Koneko. "So, that's where you were," Nawin speaks, smiling and direct toward the young girl. Koneko blinks and watches the taller boy kneel in front of her. Now that it is just the two of them and it is quiet, Koneko can drink in the view of Nawin dressed in that sweater, and he still has the hood on.
The Makasha is surprised when the girl spread her arms and hugs him, burying her face on his chest. "Kawaii," she whispers which cause Nawin to let out a soft laugh before returning the gesture, wrapping his arm around the girl's frame, smiling warmly "Glad you like the sweater."
Nawin gently pull back and place a right hand on the girl's head, affectionately rubbing it "You should head downstairs before everyone eat all the desserts" he says "Oh," Koneko's eyes widen in realization and nod, turning around and quickly bolts down the stairs, causing the Makasha to chuckle before standing back up.
Placing his hand on the cold metal rails, Nawin exhales and looks up at the beautiful night sky that is coated in bright stars. "Hmm," he hums, smiling lightly, when sensing a familiar magic signature behind, then hears the door slides open. Out walks Irina, holding a plastic tray that contains two chocolate chip cookies and a cup of chocolate mousse. "Getting a breath of fresh air?" she asks, smiling brightly and stops beside the Makasha, placing the plate down on a holding stand between them "Yeah, needed it after being surrounded by crowds for the entire day" "Hehe, I remember you aren't much of a crowd person" "Indeed I am not."
Irina picks up one of the cookies and brings it towards Nawin "I am full," he says "Come now," Irina reply, grinning playfully and start moving the dessert around "Cooookies! Made by Koneko-chan and Asia-chan, if you don't eat it, you'll have a picture of their sad faces in your head" she states in half serious and half joking manner. Nawin shakes his head and laughs a bit "Alright," he says, taking the cookie "You win" "Hehehehe," Irina giggles before taking the last cookie for herself.
The two look up at the sky, quietly eating their cookies in a peaceful moment. "Such a lovely scene," Irina whispers, indicating to the glittering night sky "Yeah, I'm guessing you don't have this kind of view in heaven?" "Nope," she shakes her head, taking another bite of the snack "The view the heaven offers is to below watch from above... We are essentially the clouds up there, so watching the sky is not as clear as it is down here. It's honestly one of the things I dislike about heaven" "No place is perfect," Nawin wisely replies "Yeah."
Finishing the cookie, Irina opens her mouth "I am glad to see you like this, Nawin-kun" she remarks, catching the other's attention and shifts to her "What do you mean?" "You are taking in the view," she states, looking towards him and smiles brightly "I can see you are genuinely relaxed now and just enjoying the moment... You aren't thinking of anything else other than Akeno's birthday" "Ah," Nawin nods in realization "Yeah, I guess you are right... Maybe it's this sweater doing" he throws in a joke which makes Irina giggles "Comfy?" she asks "It is actually."
"But, I think the reason why I am so relaxed now is that of you, Irina," Nawin informs, surprising the Angel. "E-eh?" she stutters, blushing faintly "Really?" "Yeah," he replies, smiling warmly and peers forward to the hills on the horizon "Just like Aunt Gabriel you possess this kind and warm aura around you... It is something I always love about my Godmother, why I always enjoyed being near her when I was young. She could calm me down and bring a grin to my face without fail. That's why I was always so close to her." Nawin turns to the Shidou "You have that very aura around you, and it provides me with calmness, allow me to relax and not worry about a thing. It's one of the many things I like about you, Irina."
The Angel is at a loss of words to the new information. Her heartbeat increase ever slightly, her hands softly holds onto each other while leaning on the rail. "I-I feel the same way towards you, Nawin-kun" she reveals, looking at her hands "Really?" "Y-yes, I always enjoy spending these moments with you." Irina turns to finally look at him, smiling affectionately with an adorable blush shown on her face "Being near you give me confidence and warmness... I always feel like I can do anything with you nearby" "... I see," Nawin close his eyes; his smile widens ever slightly.
The cold night breeze blows past the two friends. The wind pulls the sweater's hood down, and Irina is in awe when seeing the breeze carries the Makasha's soft black locks that illuminate with the gleaming white moon. To her, his beauty is unmatched by anyone she has met in the supernatural world. Nawin reopens his eyes and locks on her purple orbs "I am glad to hear that, Irina. Always know that if you ever need help," he reaches for her right arm, grasping her hand and brings it up "I'll be by your side in a flash," he whispers, indicating to the black ring worn on her ring finger.
Irina's smile widens and closes her fingers, gripping onto the Makasha's hand "I know you will be there," she utters with confidence. Another breeze passes by them as both look into each other's eyes, their smile widens more. With the gleaming white moon shown in the background, the scene between the two friend takes in another turn of beauty, and one can even say love.
The sound of a door sliding open cause the two to turn and see Misako standing there, with a flustered look shown on her face. "U-um, Nawin-kun" she speaks "Rias-san is requesting you to come down" "Ah, alright," he nods, releasing the Shidou's hand and takes a step back. Misako enter inside, waiting as Nawin head towards the door, but he halts a moment to glance back "You coming?" he asks Irina, who shakes her head and points at the cup of mousse "Still got to finish this delicious treat. I'll be down in a minute" she says with a grin, prompting the Makasha to chuckle "Understood, see you in a bit" "Mm-hmm."
Heading down the hallway, Nawin notice something by watching Misako walking in front of him. Her head is slightly tucked down; her arms fell on the sides with hands clenched tightly, her shoulders tensed, her footsteps hold more force than it should. Noticing these signs, concern start growing inside of him. "Misako" Nawin calls, stopping in the middle of the hallway. When hearing her name announced, the Ichiru also halts but doesn't turn.
"Y-yes," she replies in a shaky tone which only causes the concern inside the Makasha to arise, hearing the sadness in the girl's voice. "Is something wrong?" "... N-no, everything is fine" she whispers, but the sorrowful tone doesn't match with her words. Nawin's eyes widen when seeing a spark of tears dropping to the ground. He marches forward and grabs the Ichiru's shoulder and turns her around to face him.
Nawin gasp when seeing Misako's teary eyes staring back at him, pain shown in those glistering sapphire blue eyes. "M-Misako," he utters in deep concern, his expression softens "What's the matter? Please tell me so I can help" "Y-you can't help," she replies, bringing her right hand up to wipe away the tears "I-I'll be fine, please don't worry" "You're crying!" Nawin shouts, shocking the girl and force her to look up, seeing his angry but worry expression "Why wouldn't I be concerned?!"
A smile makes way to Misako's face when hearing just how much the Makasha cared for her, but all it does is hurt her more. The feeling she tries to suppress for so long, it only arises when seeing how Nawin and Akeno interacted with each other in front of her, noticing just how much love they hold for one another. Then she witnessed how close he is with Irina, and it only causes these feeling to explode to its breaking point. The feeling of love she holds for the boy in front of her.
Misako pulls back to get rid of the hold and takes a few steps away from the shocked Makasha. "I-I'm sorry," she whispers, her head hangs down "I-I can't stay anymore. Have a nice night, Nawin-kun." "Misako!" he shouts, watching the girl turn around and quickly rush down the stair. Nawin stands up and about to give chase. "M-Misako!" Wendy's voice shouts from the first floor before a sound of a door slamming is heard, signaling the Ichiru just left the house. Nawin stop by the stairs to see Wendy opening the door "Wendy, what happened?" Akeno asks, stepping out of the living room "I don't know. I need to leave to check on her. Sorry, but" Wendy gives a bow and stands up, carrying a faint smile "Happy Birthday, Akeno," she says before exiting the house, shutting the door along the way.
Akeno looks confuse, tilting her head to the side "I wonder what happened to Misako?" she whispers, but her attention switch when sensing a magic signature at the stair. She turns to see Nawin standing there, staring at the door with a distressed look on his face. Akeno grows concern when seeing this "Is everything ok, Nawin-kun?" she questions and has him looking at her.
Nawin opens his mouth but brings it shut. He doesn't want this special day for Akeno to be ruined, and as much as he wants to head through that door to chase after Misako. He is needed more here with his lover. Leaving here will only ruin this birthday for her. Forcing a smile out, Nawin shakes his head "No, I just had a chat with Misako, and she told me that she wasn't feeling well" "So that's why she left early?" "Yes."
Nawin heads down and stops in front of the Himejima, putting a loving smile for her "She said not to worry, so let's continue with the birthday, alright?" "Ok," Akeno nods with a smile on her face "I'll return to the living room. Everyone is there except for Rias," "Is she in the kitchen?" "Yeah," "I see, then head back to the living room and ready to open your presents, Akeno. I'll go fetch Rias" "Understood."
Nawin watches his lover return to the living room before turning his sight to the door, and his eyes turn downcast, concern for the Ichiru. Nawin takes a deep breath and exhales, trying to keep his emotion in check. Opening his eyes, he turns to the kitchen and enters to see Rias standing by the counter, in front of the cake and holding a white piping bag that holds the frosting that will use to draw.
"Ah," Rias notice the Makasha and smile "You're here! What took so long?" "Misako had to leave because she wasn't feeling well," he replies, stopping on the right "Will she be fine?" "... Hopefully so." Nawin looks at the cake and a joyful smile form on his face "That looks great, Rias" "Hehehe, you think so?" she asks, beaming with a proud grin "Yeah, it's lovely."
The giant cake is covered in a vanilla flavored coating, but instead of it being white like it original would, it is instead violet colored, the favorite color of Akeno's. Underneath the coating is a chocolate flavored cake with inside having a layer of vanilla ice cream, and underneath that is a layer of delicious marshmallow that brings an enjoyable flavor and texture when eating the cake. Both Nawin and Rias tried a sample of this cake before ordering the full size, and the two agreed that it was the best cake they ever tasted. For the outside appearance, the cake is entirely violet and on the sides are beautifully drawn gold spirals that resemble a flower pattern. On the top is where Rias's work is displayed. In her beautiful handwriting are the words 'Happy 19th Birthday Akeno' written in brown frosting.
Rias place the piping bag down and holds her hip, nodding in satisfaction at her work "She's going to love it" she states with confidence "No doubt she will" Nawin adds, then reaches for the candle bag "Let's start putting these in" "Right!"
Living Room
The living room is almost filled amidst everyone relocating to there. The adults are seated on the couches while the teenagers make comfort on the carpet. Sitting near the presents is Akeno, who is currently sweatdropping by Issei and Lucy stacking the gifts around her, essentially trapping her with them. The others just watch on and chuckle at the two's antics.
"Y-you two," Akeno tries to speak but gets interrupted by another present coming down in front of her. "There," Lucy slaps her hands together then holds her hip, grinning brightly "Looking like the princess of presents, Akeno" "She is essentially a birthday princess today," Issei adds, chuckling. Akeno can't help but giggle and gives a happy smile at the two "Thanks for being so enthusiastic" "Gotta make the birthday girl happy" Lucy reply taking a few steps back and takes a seat beside Asia. Issei decides to take place beside his Queen and Knight.
"Hmm," Sirzech blinks when noticing his wife reentering the living room, this time dressed in a simple gray blouse and a long dark green skirt. "Looking beautiful, honey" he compliments, watching her walking towards him and takes a seat on the right. Grayfia gives a faint smile "Thank you, Sirzech" "Can't stand the maid outfit anymore?" Venelana asks, giggling teasingly "It seems inappropriate with the ongoing event" "Aw, don't need to be embarrassed, Grayfia. You just wanted to be out of it after Nawin's comment" "That does play a part considering he does bring up a good case."
With everyone here and seated in position. The lights in the room suddenly go dim, causing all to halt in their conversation and looks around. "Happy Birthday to you," two familiar voice start singing from the hallway and in walks Rias and Nawin, with the latter holding the cake. "Happy Birthday to you," everyone joins in with the swinging and claps in rhythm while Akeno watches on in stun, looking at her best friend and lover making way towards her.
"Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Akeno!" Nawin slowly drops on his knees, both hands lifting the cake "Make a wish, Akeno" he utters, smiling with love.
Akeno close her eyes, making the wish in her mind before reopening her eyes to blows off the nineteen candles. "Yeeah!" "Whaoo!" "Happy Birthday, Akeno!" everyone cheers and gives an applaud. Akeno has the biggest smile on her face, and she looks at her lover, moving in to give him a quick peck on the lip. She pulls back and opens her mouth "Thank you," "Just happy to see that smile."
"I'll go fetch the plates," Lucy says, turning the lights back up "I'll help," Xenovia stands up and follows the blonde to the ktichen. "Damn, that is one big cake!" Issei exclaims, "And it looks delicious" Yao state, smiling "Where did you order it?" "It's from a dessert store called Luna Dessert" Rias answers "Nawin-kun, and I went there and tried one of their cakes, and it was simply tasty." "No dessert store I know in the underworld would create such a big cake" Zeoticus state, still applaud by the size "It was a special order" Nawin informs "Fortunately the owner was confident in her worker's skill to create such a cake."
Nawin and Rias turn to Akeno "So?" they ask, seeing the Himejima staring at the cake "Do you like it?" "It is perfect" she replies, making the two smiles in pleased. Since the cake is on a large tray, Nawin gently set it down on the ground and take a seat with Rias doing the same beside him.
"I wonder if we can finish all of that," Kokoro comments "My tummy is already fully," Asia moan, rubbing her stomach "Because you ate like ten mousse, Asia-chan!" Senna comments, giggling. Momo blinks, noticing something is wrong "Um, Nawin-kun," she calls, catching the boy's attention "Yes?" "Where's Misako and Wendy?"
The question almost causes the smile on the Makasha's face to break, but he is able to hold it to give a reassuring one to the girl "She told me she wasn't feeling well and left early. Wendy also head out to make sure she gets home safely" "Ah, I see" "Hope she'll be ok," Jonathan says, concern for their friend's kid "She'll be fine dad, nothing too serious... I checked."
Everyone seen content with the Makasha's reply, but the person who is conflicted is Irina. 'Was she really sick?' she questions, remembering the Ichiru looking fine when she saw her 'Is there something going on?' She turns to Nawin to see him speaking with Akeno and no signs of trouble shown on his face or in his eyes 'I guess she could get sick... Misako has a history of being sick often from what Nawin-kun once told me.'
When Lucy and Xenovia returned with the plates and forks. Rias start getting to cutting pieces for everyone after Nawin removed the extinguished candles. "Senna and I will go fetch glasses of water for everyone," Momo says "Ah, yes," Rias nod "That would be great, thanks to you two" "No probs!" Senna replies and leaves the living room with her sister.
"That's looking good!" Issei grabs the plate that already has a piece of cake then grabs a fork, ready to eat it until Kokoro comes from behind and bonk him in the head "Ouch!" "Wait until everyone gets a slice, dummy!" she scolds "Have some mannered." Issei rubs place the fork down to rub his head and pouts.
Sirzech witnessed this and can't help but glance at his wife 'Look very familiar,' he thinks and lets out a quiet chuckle. "Looks like you got yourself a responsible Queen, Issei" Venelana comments, giggling "Reminds me of Sirzech and Grayfia in the pasts" "Huh," Issei blinks, letting go of his head to look at the beautiful mother "Really?" he asks, surprise while Kokoro listen on closely in intrigue. "Yes, Sirzech would something laze off or cause some trouble when young, and Grayfia will always be there to pull him out of it or stop him from causing it. She was such a dedicated Queen," she praises which causes the Lucifuge to blush faintly at such praise from her mother in law "Thank you for such compliment, Venelana-sama" "No problem at all, dear."
"Hehehe," Issei turns to his Queen, grinning "Thanks for being such an awesome Queen, Kokoro," he says and causes the girl to go fluster a bit before crossing her arm and huff, cocking her head to the right "You better be thankful." Issei turns to Nawin and smirks "Hope you'll get a Queen as good as Kokoro, Nawin" "I already have an excellent knight and a devoted hydra, Issei" "... You always have to pull out the Hana card, don't you?" "The guy got a Hydra as a familiar" Riser points "He has the right to brag about it, Hyoudou" "Uhhh," Issei groan, still sensitive about the subject involving familiar subject considering he hasn't got one yet.
When Senna and Momo returned, both holding a tray filled with cups of water. They pass the cups to everyone when Rias is just done with placing the final piece of the plate. "There," she places the knife down and smiles "Pass along the plate, everyone."
Not long after everyone has their individual slice of cake and a cup of water, seated comfortably in their seats. Akeno cuts a piece of the cake and takes it in her mouth, slowly chewing it to taste the chocolate flavor with the vanilla ice cream and marshmallow. "Mmmm" she moans at the taste "Wow! This is great!" Issei exclaims after taking the first bite then start digging into the next piece. "So good!" Asia shouts, one moment to full and now she is stuffing the cake into her mouth, just like Akame.
"This is the best cake ever!" Senna state with sparkling eyes "It really is," Momo agrees "I never believe I could have found a better cake then what my family's chefs back home would create!" Elise state, surprised by such the deliciousness of the dessert. "You like it?" Nawin asks Akeno "It is wonderful," she replies brightly "You two did an amazing job, Nawin-kun, Rias. This is the best cake I have ever tasted" "Aha, we thought the same thing when we tried the sample" Rias replies with a giggle.
"Since we are all eating," Gabriel speaks, turning to Akeno "Why don't you start opening the presents, Akeno? There's many of them so better start early, or we all will be here till midnight" "That's a good idea, Gabriel-sama" Akeno nods, taking another piece of cake to her mouth before placing the plate down to grab the closest present which happens to be a crimson colored one on the right.
"From your besties, Rias" Akeno reads the tag with a smile on her face "Hehehe," Rias giggles a bit before taking a quick sip of water. Everyone watches Akeno starts tearing through the wrapping. Yao holds a warm smile when watching Akeno and an image of her dear friend, Shuri appears beside 'She looks so much like you Shuri... She turned into such a fine woman. You'd be so proud, and I promised you that as long as she stays with us, she will be happy and safe.'
When the wrappers are soft it shows a plain white box, Akeno slowly lifts the lid up to look inside, and a gasp is what comes out of her mouth when seeing the items. "R-Rais, this is" "Hehe, yep," the Gremory smile brightly, nodding "It's the tea set you always wanted. I remember you staring at it a few years back, and since you've been using those plain old one for so long, I thought it is the right time for an upgrade."
Issei looks close to see the set is laid on a luxurious looking purple cloth "Wow, those look expensive" "Because it is," Akeno state, lifting one of the five cups up to take a look at the designs. The cup is white and made out of porcelain. The painting on them is in a masterclass of art. Perfect picture of beautiful purple color flowers spread around the cup with small black birds flying around in the space between the flowers. The three colors match perfectly with the artist using such unique shades in the colors, and the drawing is just striking.
Akeno gently places the cup back and next lift out the teapot, and it was even more beautiful than the cups. The teapots also hold the same purple flower, but this time it isn't sprouting from the bottom. Instead, its vibrant petals are drawn in a way to show it is being blown by the wind, displaying this image of the petals flying around the teapot in a mesmerizing way.
"I'm gonna regret asking this," Xenovia speaks, turning her head to look at Rias "How much did this cost you?" "Come now, Xenovia" the girl huff and wiggle her index finger around in a scolding manner "A present isn't about what it is worth! It is the thought that counts. I knew Akeno always wanted this tea set, so I got her one" "For translation," Issei jumps in "It means that it is costly."
"Tell us!" Riser shouts, getting impatient since he was also curious about the cost "Fine," Rias sighs "1.1 million yen" the moment those numbers are uttered the room goes dead silent.
The people that are most stunned is Senna and Momo, considering they don't know about Rias's family wealth to such an extent. The others are just shocked that she would spend that much on a present and it start making some of them feel nervous since some didn't spend anyway near a million on their gifts.
"How very kind of you, Rias," Venelana says in a supporting way that makes Senna and Momo goes dumbfounded, unable to believe a mother would allow their child to spend such a sum of money. "Did you know the price of those tea set, Akeno?" Zeoticus asks, watching the girl place the teapot back in the box. "I did," she answers, "That's why I was so surprised to see it as a gift." Akeno turns to Rias, giving a genuine smile "Thank you," "You deserve such a gift for being a great friend, Akeno."
Rias watch her friend place the lid back on "That isn't the real box," she informs "Ufufufu, I knew that" Akeno reply, placing the box beside her and look up "You wanted it to be as much of a surprise as possible. Having the original box that it comes with would be a giveaway" "Yep! I'll give you the box tomorrow, it's in Issei's room" "Understood."
Akeno decides to move onto the next present and grabs the one that has a bright pink color wrap with a variety of animal in a chibi form on it. It didn't take much for Nawin to know that gift comes from Misako. The smile on his face waned every slightly by this thought, but he keeps it up strong for his lover's sake.
"Happy Ninetieth Birthday, Akeno-san ^o^" the Himejima read the tag and giggle at the cute expression drawn at the end. Tearing the wrapper off, Akeno sees a sizable black box, so she opens the lid and a gasp escape from her mouth, her eyes shine brightly. "What is it?" Senna asks, leaning in to get a look "This is so adorable!" Akeno gushes and lifts the gift out to reveal a plush that looks identical to Nawin, but instead in a chibi-style form.
"Oh, my!" Rias exclaims, blushing at the cuteness "Ah, Chibi Onii-chan!?" Asia says, "I want to hug it!" "Yeah, me too!" Lucy joins in, scooting closer to look at the plush. "I am hugging it first!" Akeno brings the plush to her chest, hugging it tightly "Looks like she loves it," Kokoro says, chuckling a bit "Very much, a shame Misako isn't here to see it" Elise state.
'Misako...' Nawin utters, looking at the plush of himself and sees it have a bright smile on it that reminds him of the very smile the Ichiru would always wear when the two meets. Remembering that sorrowful face of her from earlier, remembering the tears dripping down those beautiful sapphire blue eyes. It was a sight that hurt the Makasha deeply. He promised himself in the spot that he will find out what's bothering the Ichiru and help her, no matter what.
Akeno pulls away from the plush and passes it to Lucy "Here, you can take a look" she says. "Aww," the blonde smile, looking at the adorable smiling face "Big bro," she calls, turning to Nawin "You should smile more like this!" "I don't have the ability to smile that cutely, Lucy" he replies, "That's such false" Gabriel intercept, smiling in reminiscing "When you were young you had such a big and adorable smile, my child! You were even more adorable than the plush" "Everyone's cuter when they are young, Aunty" "But you were the cutest!" she replies and start gushing at the memories.
Lucy past the push to Asia, who immediately hugs it and sighs at the fluffy material. Akeno turns to Nawin "Hearing what Gabriel-sama says makes me want to meet the young you, Nawin-kun" she states, causing him to chuckle "I bet, but you now have that plush to get the picture of what, Aunt Gabriel mean."
With the conversation on the plush died down. Akeno returns to opening the present while her friends and the adult just watch on or chatting with each other. Time flies as the torn wrappers stack behind the Himejima and the gifts filling on her sides. She receives a variety from the rest of the presents from clothes and accessories to books and perfume. Riser surprisingly got her an expensive makeup set that astonished many. And even though he stubbornly claims it was his idea to get that gifts, Akeno and Rias believe he got help from his lover, Yubelluna.
For the adults, Yao got Akeno a very expensive cookbook that teaches a variety of famous dishes from all cultures, Jonathan fetches her a beautiful Tom Ford manufactured shoes, Sirzech and Grayfia got her a very luxurious violet color handbag. Zeoticus and Venelana bought a dazzling black dressed worth a large sum, Gabriel's gift is beautiful gold earrings that are in a shape of wings similar to the Angels and Fallen Angels since both races share the same wings beside their colors being entirely different, and lastly is Azazel, who gave the girl a high-end camera, knowing she loves taking pictures of special moments for memorabilia.
Azazel does hold one last present for the Himejima, but knowing who it is from, he finds it unwise to give it here with such a crowd, deciding it is better of being done in private so he withholds the present for now.
"One left," Rias state, looking at the present wrapped in a black color sheet "You wanted to open Nawin's present last, didn't you?" Issei asks with a grin "Ufufufu, it was intentional" Akeno admits. She lifts the present and places it on her lap then start tearing through the wrapper, excitement clearly shown on her expression.
Issei glance at Nawin to see him looking at the Himejima with a warm smile in his face. Knowing what his friend had to go through to get the present, he hopes the Himejima loves it, even though deep down he knows there isn't much to worry about.
After the wrapper is removed, Akeno gets to look at the beautiful polish wooden box that is about a size of both her hands pressed together. She looks up to see Nawin staring at her, wearing that loving smile "Open it," he utters "Alright!" she replies brightly. Turning back to the box, Akeno brings her right hand to grab the small gold handle and push it up.
Everyone gasps in astonish when a bright yellow light explodes around the room, emanating from the box. Akeno holds a look at awe, the yellow light illuminates on her beautiful face. "T-this," she whispers as the light slowly dies down and now dims inside the box where the source is. Akeno slowly brings her left hand in and grab the lift, pulling it out to closely examine while allowing the rest to view it.
Everyone in the room staring at the striking and one of a kind necklace in awe. Place in a glistering, beautiful black chain is one of the most beautiful gemstones many have ever seen. Sirzech, Yao, Azazel, and the rest of the adults immediately knows what it is. While lots of the younglings are in utter awe at the beauty of a gemstone, they have never seen before. It is literally glowing in yellow and inside shows a faint image of lightning strikes, it is like something out of a fantasy world.
Akeno is just mesmerized by the beauty of the stone, finding it very calming to gaze at it. She turns toward Nawin "You like it?" he asks and instead of getting an answer, Akeno response with leaning forward to give Nawin a big kiss on the lip, wrapping her arms around his neck.
Akeno pulls back, smiling brightly "It is perfect, Nawin-kun" she whispers, sitting up and brings her arms back to look at the necklace. Nawin takes the jewelry off her hand "Turn around," he requests, and the Himejima does as say, having her back face towards him.
Everyone watches the Makasha putting the necklace on Akeno, all of them holds a smile on their faces at the loving scene. "Ah," Akeno's eyes snap open when feeling a sudden surge of power coursing through her body when the necklace is placed on. "This necklace will always protect you, Akeno" Nawin whispers near her ear "Just like I, it shall not let anything bad ever happen to you."
Akeno turns back around to face her lover and gives him a breathtaking smile filled with love and gratitude "I love you, Nawin-kun" "I love you too, Akeno."
Time Skip
"Oohh! I had such a lovely time!" Gabriel exclaims, hugging Nawin tightly, ultimately burying his face in her supple breast. Issei and Riser stood by the sideline, looking slightly jealous by the scene which have Rias chuckling when seeing their expression. "Calm down there, Aunty" Lucy speaks with a smile, standing beside her brother "You're going to suffocate him" "Oh! Sorry there, my child" the Angel gently push the Makasha back to allow him to breathe once more.
Nawin coughs a bit "You alright?" Irina asks with a giggle, standing beside her teacher and is thoroughly amused by the interaction. "Y-yeah, I'm good," Nawin replies and open his eyes, a smile form on his lip "It's good to have you back, Aunt Gabriel," he admits, "I really missed you. Do come visit next time and we can hang out" "I most certainly will when I have the free time, my sweet boy" she replies and gives an affectionate kiss on his cheek then to moves the side to give one on Lucy's forehead. "Take care, my children," Gabriel says and looks inside "I would wish goodbye to Asia, but it seems the little girl has passed out" she state, seeing the young blonde being carried on Koneko's back, soundly asleep with her head rest on the Rook's shoulder.
"It is late," Nawin informs, looking at his watch to see it is 11pm. Sirzech, Grayfia, Zeoticus, and Venelana have already departed. The others have also left due to an exhausting day of setting everything up. All the cooking and decoration group have gone to their homes.
"Yes, it is," Gabriel turn to Irina "Can you prep the teleportation" "Of course, one moment." Yao and Jonathan stop beside their children "Do come visit again, Gabriel" the mother urges "We also need catching up" "Yes, I know" Gabriel turns to the parent and smile "I will make time to visit soon, Yao, Jonathan" "Take care, Lady Gabriel" the father reply with respectable tone "Hehe, I will, John."
"See you next time Irina," Nawin says when seeing the teleportation on the ground glowing, signaling it is almost complete "Yeah, catch you later, Nawin-kun" she replies, grinning brightly "Hopefully we will see each other sooner than later" "I don't doubt it." Gold light shoots up from the symbol on the ground, enveloping both the Angels and when it dies down, there's nothing left behind but a burnt grass.
Lucy heads toward Koneko and Gasper "Here," she stops in front and extend both arms towards her sleeping sister "I'll take it from here, Koneko. You and Gasper can leave now" "Thanks." After handing over her friend, Koneko flicks her fingers to summon teleportation for her and Gasper. "See you tomorrow at school, you two" Nawin calls out and receive a cute smile and a nod from both before they disappear in crimson sparkles.
"Ahhhh!" Issei yawns loudly, stretching both his arms to the air "I'm beat," he says, bringing his arms down and turns to the Gremory "Let's head home, Rias" "Sounds good." "I'll be heading out too," Riser informs, carrying a sleeping Ravel on his back "Alright," Nawin nod "See you tomorrow," he says and receives a hum in response, then watches both Phenex disappear in a burst of flames.
Issei stops in front of his friend and gives a grin "See you tomorrow, buddy" he says, lifting his right fist "Yeah," Nawin smile, also bringing his own hand up for the two to exchange a fist bump. Rias stop beside her lover and gives a hug to the Makasha "You satisfied with the party?" she asks, pulling back "Very," he replies "You did a great job planning everything, Rias" "Hehehe, thanks. I'm as glad as you with how everything turned out. Akeno was smiling through the whole day" "She very much did."
With bidding the rest of the Makasha family goodbye, Issei and Rias leave the front yard to return to their house. Lucy heads back inside to place her younger sister to bed. Nawin shifts to his parent "Where's Azazel?" he asks, "Last I saw him he was with Akeno" Yao answers "They are probably by the backyard" Jonathan remark.
Instead of walking through the house to get to the backyard, Nawin makes a detour by walk from the side of the house. "What's this about, Azazel?" he stops when hearing Akeno's voice and leans near the edge of the wall to peek and see both Azazel and Akeno standing by the porch.
"I got another gift to give you..." Azazel informs, but instead of sounding joyful it is more of an uneasy tone which matches perfectly with the expression he wears. The smile on Akeno's face breaks and her eyes widen in realization before anger sets in "W-what?" she utters, her tone turns seething. "It's from your father," Azazel continues and brings his right arm up. But before he could even materialize the present to existence, Akeno slaps his arm to the side, shocking him and Nawin. "No!" she shouts, breathing hoarsely and looks up to show Azazel those raging electric yellow eyes "I don't care! I don't give a damn about his present! Throw it back at him for all I care, Azazel!" "Akeno..." "No!" she silences him with a venomous tone "I-I just had the best birthday of my life! A-and h-he... He dares try to ruin it still! I won't allow it. Nawin-kun, Rias, and everyone worked their hardest for today, and it is one of the best days of my life! My father isn't ruining this!" she exclaims.
Azazel's expression turns sorrowful, watching the girl panting from all the sudden emotion rushing through her, no doubt exhausting her after such a tired day. "I understand..." he replies, not wanting to anger the girl anymore "I'll tell him you don't want it. I'm sorry about this, Akeno" "... Just leave, Azazel" "... Alright." The Fallen Angel takes a few steps back before disbursing away in a flock of black feathers.
Nawin is in a state of shock and confusion. He knew from Azazel's vague answers that Akeno holds dislike towards her father because of something he did in the past, but he would have never imagined this kind of hatred exists between the two. Just the way she exploded at Azazel by bringing him up is unexpected.
Seeing his lover in distress, Nawin steps out from the shadows to make himself known. "Akeno," he calls out and sees the girl twist around to look at him, surprise etched on her expression. "Nawin-kun," she whispers before sprinting forward to embrace him, burying her face on his shoulder. Nawin accepts the gesture and wraps his arms around her waist, feeling her body shaking ever slightly from wild emotions.
"Akeno..." Nawin whispers "What was that about?" "Uh," Akeno's eyes snap open, and she pulls back to look him in the face "You heard?" "Yes..." "I-It's," Akeno turns her head to the side, biting her lip "I don't want to talk about it..." she answers, and Nawin's expression turns sorrow "Are you sure?" "Not today, please" she whispers, burying her face to his chest "Today was perfect... Please don't..." "Ok, not another word."
Nawin rubs the Himejima's back in a comforting manner and turns to the bright moon. Conflicting emotions show on his brown eyes. Akeno smiles and hugs firmly onto him. The couple fails to notice a black crow standing on one of the tree's branches, staring at them with its dark red eyes before it spreads its wings and takes off to the sky.
