The Saotome's finally moved back to their own house. Plus the new relationship between Dr Tofu's younger brother with Akane and their growing closeness was making our hero feel insecure and jealous. What will happen if because of some devastating situation, The Tendos has to move to the Saotome house? Will it bring our couple close together? RanmaXAkane

43. Chapter 43

"Aren't you getting bored moping all day like a kid, sis!"

Akane growled in annoyance as she saw her sister Nabiki entering her room without her permission. Akane is currently sitting over her bed, her legs bent over her chest as she hugged them tightly. She was feeling extremely helpless as she couldn't find a way to fix all this messed up situation. She was mentally beating herself hard because she didn't let Ranma talk to her at the airport. She saw how many times he tried to approach her, but whenever he tried to talk, she always used to move away from him and didn't give him any chance to communicate with her. Now she is regretting her decision to ignore him, because now all she wants is to talk to him and ask him what he really wants from her. She was debating with herself about this issue, when suddenly her sister decided to intervene again and ruin her bothersome mind,

"What do you want, Nabiki? I am not in the mood for any talk right now! So please.."

Nabiki smirks hearing that and said,

"Aren't you acting kind of moody, Lil sister..?" Nabiki made herself comfortable by sitting beside her on the bed as she said in a serious tone,

"Look, I know I am not like Kasumi; but I am still your big sister. I am here for you if you need any help, you know.."

Akane sighs as she laid her head on her crossed arms over her leg. She began to feel guilty for her behaviour towards Nabiki, she sighs sadly and said,

"I am sorry, Nabiki.. It's just.. I don't know.."

"Akane, did you and Ranma…" Nabiki trailed off as she looked at Akane for her answer.

Akane bits her lower lip as she curled her toes in embarrassment, then she just plainly nodded her head to answer her. Nabiki smiled at that and shook her head saying,

"About time!!"

Akane slowly peaked up at her and asked in a surprised tone,

"Aren't you angry at me?"

Nabiki smirked and said in a sly tone,

"Grow up, baby sister. You are not a teenager anymore! If it doesn't bother you, why would it bother me then? Anyway, as I told you, the way things were happening between you and Ranma, I was sure that it would happen sooner or later!"

Akane suddenly realized something as she hesitantly looked at her and asked her,

"Who else knows about this, Nabiki? You said to mom that I was saying at obasama's room, does that means…"

Nabiki winked at her said playfully,

"Yap! She knows too. We were actually looking for you two, when we saw you dragging Ranma to his room. Well, now that's all we both had seen, we haven't dared to eavesdrop after that, I promise..And we are old enough to understand what might have happened after that, aren't we..?"

Akane's face flushed with embarrassment as she heard her sister giggling at her face. Nabiki looked at Akane's flushed expression and said politely,

"Chill, Akane! It's not a big deal at all! Calm down now.. Anyway, I am happy that my stubborn dummies are together at last!"

Akane gave a big sad sigh as she looked down again..

"Hey! Why's this big sigh for? I told you that we are fine with it, so stop being a baby and don't look regretful anymore. There is nothing to feel guilty about, Akane.."

Akane slowly shakes her head and said in a low tone,

"It's not as easy as you think, Nabiki."

"Why? What happened? And why are you looking so pissed off anyway? Tell me honestly, is it about Ranma? He did confess to you, right?"

Akane shakes her head saying no to her as she sighs and says,

"He was drunk at that time; but he was in a completely devastating state, Nabiki. I couldn't say no to him. He.. He gave me time to leave though, but… I stayed with him, I didn't leave him.. Then in the morning when we woke up…"

"Then what?"

Akane sighs as her eyes welled up with fresh tears,

"He regrets it, Nabiki.."

Nabiki looked at her miserable sister with pain in her eyes. She slowly laid her hand over her back as she began to slowly rub it up and down motion to give comfort to her baby sister, as she asked her in a confused tone,

"How do you know that he regrets it?!"

Akane sniffed and said in a low tone,

"He.. he apologized to me when he woke up and he said.. he said that he didn't mean to do that.."

Akane slowly wiped her tears, but then her whole body shook with surprise when she heard Nabiki vociferously laughing sound. She looked at her sister with a dumbfounded expression on her face as she felt Nabiki slapping her back with force as she said in between her laughs,

"Oh my God! You guys are so clueless, Akane!! It's RANMA we are talking about here!! You know how he is! You should know that, when he panics about something he becomes sorry about almost anything, everything! And whatever happened between you two is not a small thing at all! You said that he was drunk, right?" Nabiki asked her as she looked at her for her answer . Akane bit her lower lip as she slowly nodded her head. Nabiki sighs and said politely,

"Akane, it doesn't matter how strong our Ranma is, he is way more childish when it comes to dealing with these types of emotional things. And if it's about you then, he becomes even more of a nervous freak! And he was drunk at that time, he might have thought that he had forced you to do that with him, dummy! And that's the reason why he kept apologizing to you! Anyway, did you told him how you actually feel about him?"

Akane pouted as she sits straight up and said,

"No.. But he also didn't say anything to me, why would I?"

Nabiki gives a big sigh and said angrily,

"Why does he have to say it first? Why can't you do it for him?"

Akane growled at her and spoke out furiously,

"Because you guys made me promise that he has to be the one to say it first! Otherwise I would have told him a long time ago, Nabiki!"

Nabiki silently looked at Akane for some moment. She slowly laid her hand over Akane's shaky hands and said in a warm tone,

"No promise is bigger than your love, Akane. Sometimes you have to be selfish and think about yourself first, you know.. Akane, this is not the time to play around with your feelings anymore! We don't have time, we have to leave soon!"

Akane looked completely dumbstrucked as she asked Nabiki in a low tone,

"We have to leave? But.. but this is so soon! Why would we leave this soon!"

Nabiki sighs and said with a sore mood,

"Akane, the way you behaved with Taichi at the party.." Akane tried to interrupt but Nabiki squeezed her hand to stop her, "I am not saying that you did anything wrong. In fact, I am disappointed at you that you didn't punch him sooner! Anyway, the main issue is, after that incident happened they are withdrawing all the business deals with our aunt Suki. Not only that, the project which she has been working on for years and which would have fixed all the debts that our aunt has, that Ema canceled that deal as well."

"WHAT! But how could she do that to her!?"

"Not only that, Akane, Ema is making sure to ruin aunt's professional reputation as well by spreading false rumors about her, so that nobody would dare to come forward and help her on her business. It's like all the hard work that our aunt has done all her life is blowing away in the air like sand. The situation is not as easy as before, Akane. Aunt has asked me to be quiet about it but… I had to tell you.. Because it's time for you to make a decision; whether you want to stay back here or go back with us, you have to make this decision today."

Akane miserably looked at Nabiki as she tightly held her hand and said in a doubtful tone,

"Nabiki, this is all so sudden! How can I take such a serious decision so quickly? And at a time like when I don't even know what Ranma wants from me!"

"That's what you have to find out, Akane! You can't stay in your room and wipe like a valuable kid anymore! If Ranma can't do it then you have to do it for him! Go to him and tell him that you love him and see what his reaction would be..And you also have to tell him the fact about what his father has discussed with Ukyo that day! You have to find a solution for that matter as well or else it would be difficult for me to convey aunt Suki that Ranma is here to take care of you… I know it's so sudden, but you guys have to take matters into your own hands now, Akane.."

Akane looked down as she thought for some moments, then she said in a slow tone,

"What if… what if he is not ready to take responsibility now? I don't want to put any pressure on his back, Nabiki.."

Nabiki sighs and said,

"Sometimes people can't move as they have planned to! Look at what our aunt is going to face now! Has she ever thought that she have to start from a complete zero again?"

"But Nabiki.. I.. I can't leave aunt Suki now. She needs me. How can I selfishly choose to be with Ranma and make matters worse for her?"

"So you want to leave him then? Can you do that, Akane?"

Akane's lower lips trembled as she helplessly said,

"No.. I can't.. But... But what if he.."

"Akane… Please, you don't have to worry about aunt Suki, I will be always by her side. And if you can assure us that you and Ranma will be fine with each other and without the interruption of Ukyo and Genma, then trust me things will be more easier for us to handle.. But if Ranma again gets nervous this time and he doesn't want to take any responsibility, then you have to come with us, Akane. There would be no other choice left for you to choose. It's either you convince him or you have to leave with us. Because we have no one here with whom you can stay at Nerima now. You know that Kasumi and Tofu might soon transfer to another place because of Tofu's transfer order. So.. Akane, you understand what I am trying to say to you, right?"

Akane wiped her tears clean as her lower lip began to tremble as she was using all her power to not to start crying again. Nabiki sighs and began saying with an encouraging tone,

"You are worrying for nothing, Sister! I know Ranma very well and I know that after he hears you out he will.."

Phone rings*

Nabiki looked at her cellphone and tiredly give a big sigh as she received the call ,

"Hello?"

"Akane!" Nabiki looked at Akane and replied, "Right by my side, why?"

Nabiki's eyes went wide with surprise as she kept listening to what Akio just said to her. She gave Akane an urgent stare as she said over the call,

"Listen to me carefully, Akio. Please don't leave Ranma's house now."

"But I am feeling a bit awkward! I mean she said it's private and all.."

"Whatever it is, don't leave please. Stay there and listen to what she is telling Ranma. We are coming there as fast as we can.."

"Umm. Okay then. I will wait for you two then. Should I tell Ranma that you guys are coming?"

"No! Just stay there and keep your mouth sealed, you understand ?"

"Yeah sure.."*

Nabiki quickly cut the call and stood up, Akane looked at Nabiki's tensed back and asked her with a worried tone,

"Nabiki, what's going on?"

Nabiki sighs and said in a hard tone,

"We have to go to Ranma's house.. Aunt Suki is there, Akane.. We have to hurry there or else.."--

Akio noticed his watch with a grim face, it's been thirty minutes since he had talked with Nabiki, but they have still not arrived yet. In these long moments of waiting hours, the tale he had to hear from aunt Suki was both shocking to him and devastating as well. In one point he became so uncomfortable to sit beside Ranma and hear all the horrifying past mistakes Ranma's father has done. He never could have imagined that this Tendo girls had gone through this much of hardships in their life. Their smiles and warm perspective could never give anyone any idea of what exactly happened to them in the past! All the while he was hearing aunt Suki, he kept thinking about all of them and thinking how strong the three of them really are! On one hand, he began to hate Genma, Soun and their master for their selfish foolishness, but on another hand, he started to feel sorry for Ranma, because whatever his father has done in the past, now he is the one who have to see the consequences of it. And to him, it won't be fair on him. And when Suki told them about the conversation between Genma and Ukyo, it made his blood boil with anger, he was just wondering how Ranma must feel about all this.

He looked at Ranma who was sitting by his side, his face down as he tightly balled both his hands over the table. He then turned his face to look at Nodoka, she was looking at Ranma with sorrow in her eyes as her eyes showed how guilty she was feeling at that moment. Nodoka clears her voice and said to Suki with a low trembling tone,

"Oh Suki, I don't know what to say to you anymore! At first I used to think that I was the only one who had suffered because of Genma; but I never could have imagined that because of his thoughtless behavior and selfishness, he could destroy a beautiful family!"

Suki shook her head and said, "My brother is the main one to blame here! I believe that if his motive was right, no one would have come in between his family..."

"Yes I agree with you, Suki; but still…" Nodoka paused as she looked her son again and asked Suki hesitantly,

"Suki, please don't judge my son by what his father did to you guys.. It was my fault that I had sent him with his father for that long journey, but I am proud that despite living with Genma for all those years, my son lives with his own principles! He is completely different from his father.."

Suki warmly smiled at Ranma and said politely,

"I know that, Nodoka. To be honest with you, I never believed that part when my daughters repeatedly told me that Ranma is different from his father. But when I met him though, I understood that my daughters were right about him.."

"Oh Suki, thank you for understanding.." Nodoka said with a sigh of relief.

Suki's stopped smiling as she said in a slow tone,

"But still…"

"Still what, Suki?"

"Ranma.. You know, before you entered into our life, my Natsumi oneechan already predicted that my brother would engage you with one of my daughters. She warned me about that a long time ago and I was prepared for that news. The day when you came, when your father wanted you to choose from the girls, Kasumi suggested that you be engaged with Akane. Only because she is the youngest one and if you get engaged with her, we could buy some time with that.

My brother wanted a hair for his martial arts school, the school that rightfully belongs to my Akane, he wanted to give it to a complete stranger because Akane is a girl. As a mother I couldn't digest this unfairness with her, but then I realized that, my motive should be how to free my daughters from those selfish people around them. Let that dojo take all her mesary away from them.

Akane didn't want to go with the engagement at first, then the days came when we found out about your multiple engagements and after that, things got more easier for us. Akane started to behave like a complete tomboy around you, being violent and all; all because she wanted you to see the difference between her and your other fiances, so that you would easily choose from your other fiances. Sometimes in some moments we thought that, especially when you went to propose to your Chinese fiance that maybe now is the time, but for some reason you always came back to Akane.

Then I found out that my Akane and you have become great friends with each other. I always used to warn Kasumi about it, but she used to tell me that it's nothing but pure friendship between you two, because you guys were still fighting tooth and nail all the time. That's why I was assured that everything was going according to my plan and I started to concentrate harder on my career. But just recently, when you came back from China, when I heard that Akane wanted to go with the wedding, I understood that I had taken this matter lightly.

I am sorry to break the news to you like this, Ranma.." Suki sighs and said, "Actually, I was the one who made the sudden plan to call your other fiance on that wedding day, knowing very well that they will destroy the wedding for me and they certainly did that…"

Suki paused for a moment and said with a stern tone,

"I was angry at Akane for that. But I was happy that she learned her lesson after that because you denied your feelings for her without any hesitation."

"What! You really did that, man?" Akio asked with a surprised whisper tone.

"Anyway, sometimes unexpected things happen which we never could have imagined; and the dojo incident was proof of that. Before moving to your house Ranma, everything was going according to plan. Your distance with Akane made her believe that you don't have any feelings for her and that's what motivated her to move forward as we planned. But after the way you took all the responsibilities of them, Akane again fell for you deeply. I was scared that it would stop her from going with the plan we made; but thankfully she did listen to me and didn't give up."

Ranma looked up at her with an expressionless face and asked her,

"What plan are you talking about, aunt Suki?"

Suki then said with a serious tone,

"To study hard and get a scholarship for her study abroad, so that she could come to me where I live and start her life with a new hope and leave all this insanity behind her."

Ranma looked completely taken aback by this sudden declaration. He gripped the table hard and said in a trembling tone,

"What?! She wanted to leave..? She was preparing for it for a long time!? No.. I don't believe you..She won't do that to me.."

Suki sighs and said,

"Look Ranma, I am sorry but, it's the truth. She gave the entrance exams for it and thankfully, she got half the scholarship as well and not only that, when you were on your training trip, we already finished all the paperwork for her so that I could take her with me after Kasumi's wedding is done.."

Ranma was still in disbelief as he kept looking at Suki with a hunted look. Suki felt pity for him as she quickly added.

"Ranma dear, believe me, Akane doesn't want to leave you at all. And after seeing you two together, I also don't want to separate you two. But honey, after the incident at the party, things have changed so drastically for me. At first I thought I would use my source to see if I can arrange any college for my Akane here. But that source unfortunately belongs to Josh and I can't ask for his help anymore! And to be honest with you, I don't think I can manage to pay for Akane's full fees if I decide to make her study here, somewhere. My financial state is not going that well , Ranma. And if I don't act quickly, I will be broke soon."

"Oh Suki! Is there anything we could help you with.."

"Nodoka, I wish I could say to you that I am leaving Akane in your kind hands, but after that conversation with Ukyo, as a mother I don't think I should do that. And Ranma is still so young, I just can't burden him! Moreover, I don't want Akane to ignore this opportunity to study in this reputed place, because now I can't pay for the full fees there as well."

Suki turned to look at Ranma and said assuringly,

"Ranma, just give me some time. I know I can overcome this difficult situation, but I need your support. Try to understand, son, I can't leave my Akane here knowing that Genma and Ukyo are there to harm her. And I definitely don't want her to skip her education as well! Please at least give me six months to fix all this and if I could make everything right, I will send Akane back here. If all my financial problems get solved then, I won't have any problem financing her study that time, you just have to trust me and give us some time to…"

Suddenly, they all heard the front door opening as footsteps began to approach the living area. Suki was surprised to see Nabiki and Akane entering the living room, both looking exhausted as they were gasping for breaths. They stopped and observed the whole area. Nabiki gave Suki an angry pouting look as for Akane, she kept looking at Ranma with uneasy eyes. Akane gulped in anticipation as she whispers to him,

"Ranma…"

After some moment of pause, Ranma quickly stood up and slowly went in front of her. Akane looked at him and when she saw the furious look on his face, she became nervous as she whispers again,

"Ranma.."

Ranma sternly looked at her and said with a shaky tone, "So that's why you worked so hard! Day and night; without any rest!! That's why you were so ambitious to pass the exams so that you could.. It was all planned … For so long …. Anyways, Congratulations, Akane.. And all the best for your carefree future. I am happy that you have got what you have wished for and worked hard for.. Yeah.. that's it…bye.."

Saying that, he hastily started to walk away from her. Akane was too shocked to hear what Ranma just told her. But when she saw Ranma leaving her, she quickly came back to her senses and began to run after him. Ranma reached the entrance area when Akane came behind him. She quickly grabbed his arm to stop him from leaving as she said in a pleading tone,

"Ranma please stop. You can't leave me like this again.."

Ranma turner to face her with anger in his face as he started yelling at her face,

"YOU LIER!! HOW COULD YOU BETRAY ME LIKE THIS, DAMN IT!!"

"Ranma please listen to me.. I could never betray you."

"THIS IS WHAT I THOUGHT TOO!! BUT I AM A COMPLETE BAKA!! I BELIEVED YOU, AKANE!! I BELIEVE YA WHEN YA TOLD ME HOW IMPORTANT THOSE EXAMS WERE FOR YA! I NEVER EVER QUESTIONED YA WHEN YOU ASKED ME TO TRUST YA! AND THIS IS WHAT I GOT FOR TRUSTING YA? THAT YA WERE STUDYING HARD TO GET RID OF ME!"

"Ranma please, this is not true at all!" Akane said while sobbing as she tried to reach him. But he harshly pushed her hands away from him.

"Don't touch me!! DO NOT try to come close to me anymore!"

"Ranma.."

Ranma looked at her with sorrow in his eyes as he said with a shaky tone, "You have been acting all the while, Akane?! You wanted me ta choose from my other fiance's? You hated me this bad?" Ranma tightly grabbed her shoulders as he yelled at her again, saying,

"YOU GOT WHAT YOU WANTED, AKANE.. THEN WHY DID YOU ACTED AS IF YOU WANT ME? WHY YA LET ME GET CLOSER TA YOU? WHY DID YA MADE IT HARDER FOR ME, AKANE? WHY? DO YA HATE ME THIS MUCH!!"

Without thinking about her action, Akane hastily hugged him tightly as she said with a pleasing broken tone, "Ranma, I can never hate you.. please listen to me please.. This is all a misunderstanding! Yes, I didn't want our relationship in the past, but this was a long time ago. I have always wanted to be with you, Ranma, please believe me.. I don't want anything, but you , Ranma please.."

Ranma was resisting her hug with all his force. His soul was given in to her touch, but his mind kept being stubborn. His heart was beating painfully hard as he asked her one last question,..

"Just answer me one last question Akane..Did ya willingly go with aunt Suki to do all the paperwork to leave with her?"

"Ranma, I did it because.." Akane started saying.. but stopped when she heard Ranma's furious tone,

"Yes or no..!!"

Akane sniffed while crying and nodded her head, saying,

"Yes…I did..but.."

Ranma roughly pushed her from him and furiously looked at her and said in a dangerously low tone,

"No buts anymore.. Ya have explained to me enough!! No more!! I don't want to see ya here anymore, Akane.. Go, leave this insane place right now!!"

"Ranma.."

"JUST LEAVE…!!!"

Akane's whole body shook with fear when she heard the anger filled voice of Ranma. They have yelled at each other lots of times before, but he had never yelled this viciously like this before. It's like he had just silently stabbed her in her heart. She lost all her wording after that; she started sobbing standing there as she said in between her sobs.

"It's not fair… it's not fair at all…"

Repeating that, she quickly ran away from that place.

"Akane!!" Nabiki ran after her, but stopped when she reached Ranma's side. She angrily growled at him and slapped him on his face as she said with anger filled tone, "NO ONE CAN TALK TO MY SISTER LIKE THIS! NO ONE!!" Saying that she shook her head and sprinted to run after her crying sister. Soon Akio and Suki also followed them, leaving only the Saotomes to their respected house.

After some moment of silence, Nodoka slowly approached Ranma. She slowly laid her warm hand on his face and lifted his face so that she could look at his eyes.Then she firmly asked him,

"Do you think what you did was right?"

Ranma still looked down with a broken expression on his face as he whispers to her, "She lied to me, mom.."

"What if you had chosen from your other fiances, Ranma? What would she have done then? Cry for you? Beg you to chose her? Is that what would have make you happy then, Ranma?"

"I NEVER said that, mom.. And all this damn fiances was not my idea in the first place as well!"

"Then who's idea was that?" Nodoka asked him with an angry low tone.

Ranma growled in anger as he hissed furiously,

"I know who's fault it is.. And I won't forgive him for ruining my life anymore!! This is the last time, mom!! I will make sure of it.."

Saying that, he ran away from her to find the culprit who had ruined not only his life , but other innocent people's life as well. He was determined to find him and teach him a painful lesson, so that he would at least think once before daring to ruin anyone else anymore! Ranma kept running without any pause, his sweat was making him drenched, his eyes red with rage as he furiously ran to the place where he knew he would find his father…

A/N: I have started this fic with an imagination and I know how to end it with a happy note. And I won't change it for anyone. Because if I change it now, it won't be me! My writing style is different. Every author has their own style of writing. And I should also have the freedom of writing as well, right? The roads are bumpy right now and I warned you guys that this would happen. And if at the last moment you guys question my fic, I have nothing to say to you. I have never delivered a sad ending and I never will. Life is giving us enough hardships, why would I provoke my imagination by separating my favorite couple? I have said lots of times that this will be a happy ending fic. But still if you have doubts, then I am sorry I can't do anything at all! Anyway, I am already feeling sad that I have reached this chapter when my birthday is knocking on the door T-T!! Take care dears.. I hope you guys will trust me and enjoy this fic as well..
