Grunting in pain from another strike planted on her stomach, Ivory drops to the ground on her knees and pants deeply to desperately suck in air. Noel takes a step back and releases a sigh, watching the electric aura disperse. "The fuck was that?!" Freed bellows from the side, leaning by the pillar as he decided to stop by to examine the training session.
Noel shoots a displease look at his comrade while Ivory simply outright glares. Freed points and scowl, "You can't counter a damn simple attack as a high knee?! The hell are you even doing here!" "Shut the fuck up!" Ivory spat, releasing her stomach and rising to her feet. "Freed," Noel speaks up in a respectable tone, "I would prefer you don't interrupt our training session with needless comments."
Freed spare a glance at Noel and snarl. "I am just honest here. She's goddamn have a long way to go. I can't believe she gave the Black Flash a hard time. That guy must have really restraint himself in that battle." That comment cause Ivory to march toward Freed in a fit of rage. An action that has Noel alarm while Freed smirks in amusement.
"Enough." That deep and smooth voice cause everyone to freeze in place. They shift their sight over to see standing by the front door is Sayomi with Raynare by her side. "Mistress," Noel gives a respectable bow before leaning up, "You are awake."
Following Sayomi returning yesterday, she had retired to her room immediately, so none were able to greet her. This morning is the first time they got to see her in person since her return. Also judging by the absence of her trademark silver coat, it seems their Mistress will remain here for a moment.
Freed also provides a modest bow to his Mistress, that cruel smirk growing on his face as he feasts sight on the most beautiful and powerful being, he has ever known. Every single time he is in the grand presence of Sayomi Dracul, it gives him a surge of exhilaration and hunger. He would do anything for her.
One person that did not bow is Ivory, who stares cautiously at the Pureblood. And this did not go over Sayomi's head as she shifts gaze to meet with the Sayaka's. "You have something to say?" "Fight me." Ivory's words immediately get the attention of everyone. Noel looks worried, Raynare simply raised an eyebrow in amusement, and Freed snarl in disgust before spurting out some cuss words.
Sayomi rests a hand on her hip, tilting her head to the side with intrigue. "And what would that accomplish, Ivory?" "Aside from using a trick like mind-control... I never witnessed your true strength. Besides, I have sparred with everyone here except for you." "The gall on you, bitch" Freed spat, but Ivory ignores it. Noel stops on the side and grabs Ivory's head to force her to bow along with him. "I'm sorry for her brash comment, Mistress" he apologies "You don't need to waste your time with such childish request." Ivory grits her teeth and tries to push her head up but prove fruitless as Noel's strength is just at another level.
Noel perks up and sees Sayomi stepping down the stairs to stop not far from them. She uncrosses her arms. "It is fine, Noel." Sayomi gazes at Ivory "This will be a good lesson. Plus, she should have a full understanding of why I am superior to all. Why I rule above everyone here." Ivory lets out a grin with excitement as she feels Noel release her head. "Understood," the blonde man reply and steps to the side.
Freed rolls his eyes at this, not seeing why their Mistress should waste time on such a silly request. 'Not like that moron can even give a graze on Mistress.' Ivory gets to her stance and activates her powers; the blue electric cloak comes to life. 'Good thing Farah's passed out or she'd try to stop me.' Ivory's eyes narrow as she notices that the Pureblood doesn't bother to get into a stance. Sayomi simply has arms crossed behind her and looking composed as one can be.
"Well?" Sayomi tilts her head, "Are you going to strike?" Instead of going for a frontal assault, Ivory slams her right palm to the ground to send an electric current to the Pureblood before disappearing in a spark. Sayomi watches the attack reaching inches from her and simply lift her right arm to swipe the electricity from existence before shifting the right palm to the top and catch Ivory's fist from above.
Without wasting a second, Sayomi throws Ivory forward and watch her crash to the ground. "Cheap tactics like those won't work on me," the Pureblood states, crossing her arms "I've fought through enough battles to recognize every trick in the books."
Ivory kips up to her feet and return to a stance. Her blue eyes glow, and she breaks into a sprint. "Gaaah!" Ivory throws a right hook down, but Sayomi simply jumps back to dodge it. The grass ground implodes by force behind the strike. Not done, Ivory pulls her arm back and spin to give a roundhouse kick which misses too by Sayomi simply sidestepping it. Even though Ivory's movement is all precise and fast, in the Pureblood's eyes, it is as slow as a novice's strikes.
With her back face, Ivory shoots her right elbow backward for a quick attack, but Sayomi blocks it by just the index finger. "Urgh!" Ivory's eyes widen by seeing a mere finger stopping her strike. Each punch and kick she's thrown are with all her strength. Strength strong enough to demolish a sizable mountain if she wanted too. "You have a long way to go," Sayomi state before blasting the Sayaka back by flicking the elbow.
"Gaaah!" Ivory screams in pain as she smashes into the ground. Biting her teeth to stop another shriek from escaping, Ivory slowly raise again, but everyone sees her right arm is hanging limply by the side. With a mere flick, Sayomi was able to dislocate the girl's shoulder. "Are y-you," Ivory choke out, looking at the Pureblood in awe and slight terror "A-are you some sort of god?" "She's above that stupid title, moron," Freed insert with a snarl.
"I am your superior," Sayomi answers "That's all you need to know. Now," she gestures "Give me your strongest attack," "W-what?!" "I don't like repeating myself, Ivory." The Sayaka flinch by the sudden glare coming from her Mistress. Even with one hand, Ivory brings her left arm up and clench the hand into a fist. Lightning starts crackling around it and charging into life before it expands.
Everyone watched with mild fascination as the lightning grows to the point it envelops the Sayaka's entire hand. Her magic power too skyrocketed to Ultimate-class. Raynare shifts gaze to Sayomi and see she's remained composed as her, which is what she expected. An attack like that does not pose even the slightest threat toward her Mistress.
When fully charged, Ivory's eyes snap open, and she launches her arm forward to fire the attack. "Lightning bomb!" The sizable electric sphere flies through the air and heads for its target. Lifting her right hand, Sayomi catches the attack then crushes it from existence. Again, Ivory is rendered shocked to see her strongest technique gets dealt with within seconds.
"You weren't even trying," Ivory finds herself uttering as Noel stop by the side to tend to the dislocated shoulder. "I was hardly exerting even ten percent of my power," Sayomi state before turning around to walk up the stairs, leaving the stunned Ivory to rewind those terrifying words in mind.
Raynare opens the front door for her Mistress. Sayomi stops for a moment and glances back at Noel. "You have much to teach her, Noel. Don't waste a second on this" "Of course, Mistress." With that answer given, Sayomi turns forward and enter the palace with Raynare following behind.
"Mistress," Raynare speaks up as they reach the middle of the hallway. Sayomi halts and turns around to face her second-in-command. "Yes?" "Is it wise to keep Ivory the same as she is?" "It is," Sayomi rest a hand on her hip "She'll get better result through the thorough training she's receiving in the future. That girl has big potential in the future. Right now, she needs guidance as it can clearly be recognized that she has always trained on her own in the past. Noel is the perfect person to be the role of her teacher" "I understand. Thank you for clearing that up" "Mhm."
When Sayomi was ready to head up the stairs, Raynare opens her mouth once more. "Can I ask a personal question?" the Pureblood looks over with a raised eyebrow "Proceed." "When you returned yesterday... I caught Nawin-kun's scent coming from your r-" Raynare stops the moment those pupils on her Mistress's eyes sharpens. Raynare lowers her eyes to the floor and gives an apologetic bow, "Forgive me for praying."
Sayomi turns around and heads up the stairs. "I'll be departing tomorrow on a personal business. Continue to oversee everything here, Raynare" "Understood, Mistress."
Kuoh
"Nawin-kun!" the Makasha chuckles as the first thing to greet him in the morning is Akeno glomping him to the bed. "Good morning, Akeno," he whispers, gently stroking the back of her neck. "Hey, don't do that this early!" Akeno pulls back with a pouty face, a visible blush can be seen on her cheeks which have Nawin smirking. The back of the Himejima's neck is one of her sweet spots that only he knows.
Keeping her arms wrap around his neck, Akeno gives a curious look. "What took you so long, Nawin-kun? Was it a difficult contract?" "It was harder than I expected. One of those that required me to do some investigating to find my target" "Oh, I see." Akeno blinks when she looks down to notice her lover is only in his boxer. Nawin sees this and remembered that after appearing in the room last night. He decided it was best to discard the pants into flames considering the rest of the suit was destroyed in his fight with Cei. He couldn't be bothered to dress in anything afterward and collapsed on the bed.
"Couldn't be bothered?" Akeno asks with a knowing smile, tilting her head to the side. Nawin simply chuckles and nods. "Well," Nawin glance at his watch "We should start getting ready for school" "There's no school this week, Nawin-kun" Akeno informs, "Did something happened?" "As you know, Rias's Father essentially owns Kuoh Academy. He actually visited it this weekend to examined the place and wanted to do some renovation on the Second-Year classrooms" "Oh, I remember Asia said that she felt the place is cramp as new students have joined" "Exactly. With new freshmen registering lately, the Second-Year now has the most number of students than any other Year. So, Lord Gremory wants to expand the size of the classrooms for comfort." "In a week? Magic is at a play here" "Ufufufu, of course, Nawin-kun."
With the conversation ended, Nawin told Akeno that she can take a shower first while he goes greet Asia and Lucy of his return. With Akeno in the bathroom, and done putting on sweatpants, Nawin was ready to head for the door until he stops. With mix emotions in those brown orbs, the Makasha glance at the bathroom door. 'Why couldn't I bring myself to tell her about that contract... Why is it when it comes to Sayomi, I always have such restraint to inform Akeno on it. Do I really have no trust in her anymore?' Those thoughts that Nawin always tried to suppress at the back of his mind starts to bubble up. The thought of how his relationship with Akeno is not at the point he wished it to be. How he finds it strange that he can trust Akame wholeheartedly compared to Akeno, who is his lover and a person he knew longer. 'Can... Can this work?'
Before the Makasha can think more in-depth on the matter, a sound of a phone ringing snaps him back to reality. He blinks and looks over to see his phone ringing by the nightstand. Stopping by the bed, Nawin picks up the phone and sees it's Misako. He answers and brings the device to his ear.
"Nawin-kun!" The Makasha can't help but smile when hearing the Ichiru's adorable and joyful voice. "Hey, Misako. Good morning," "Ehehe, Good morning! Akame-chan, come to say good morning to Nawin-kun!" "... Morning, Nawin-kun" "Ahaha, Morning to you too, Akame. So you two are heading to train?" "Yep!" The Makasha smile at Misako's reply, her motivation to unluck her power was really something. She has yet to skip a day of training.
"And I-I called because I wonder if you want to join us, Nawin-kun?" "What Misako means to say is that she wants to train with you personally, Nawin-kun... You tend to go easy on her" "Waah! Don't say that, Akame-chan!" The Makasha chuckles at the girls' antic. "I don't have any plans today, so sure. After breakfast I'll come over to spend the day training with you, Misako" "Yeah! Finally, some fun training! Ouch! Akame-chan, why did you hit me?!" "You deserve that," the Knight's grumble was able to be heard. Nawin tilts his head and fondly smiles when hearing how well the two have become friends.
"Really?!" Lucy raises her arms in the air and pouts. The same expression shared with Akeno. Nawin smile as he finishes ruffling the giggling Asia by her hair and stands up to look at the older girls. The four are currently stood on the front yard of the house. Lucy, Asia, and Akeno wanted to go shopping today and hoped Nawin would tagalong, but that was dashed when he told them that he has other plans with Misako for the rest of the day.
"You just got back from a contract, and you want to train?" Akeno asks with disapproval tone. "Come now," Nawin tilts his head "I always hang out with all three of you in our free time. Plus, it's been a while since I had a one on one training with Misako. I need to see how she's progressed. Anyway," Nawin gives a playful flick to Lucy's forehead "We have the entire week free, so all of us have plenty of time to hang out."
Lucy gives an understandable smile and nods, "That is true. Alright then, Big Bro. Have fun," "Thanks, Lucy. You three go have fun as well." With that said, Nawin gives a wave and disappears in a black flash. Lucy looks over to see Akeno still wears a look of disappointment. She raises an eyebrow and can't help but inwardly sigh at this.
Appearing in the solitude grass field that has been turned to a place for Misako's training spot. Nawin opens his eyes and immediately eats a punch to the right cheek that knocks him to the ground. "Oh my gosh?!" Misako's shriek in horror while on the other end, Akame drops her stance and rush to her King's aid.
"Nawin-kun!" The Makasha groans and opens his eyes to see both girls looking down at him, kneeled to the sides. "I'm so sorry!" Misako claps her hands together as her eyes get teary. Seeing how hard the Ichiru is taking it, Nawin quickly gives a smile, "It's fine, Misako. Not your fault as I did appear out of nowhere" "Your reflex is still lacking," Akame state. Nawin sends a blank look to his Knight and raises his right hand to flick her on the forehead. Akame yelps in surprise then grab her forehead, cutely blinking in confusion, "Not the time to criticize, Akame."
Sitting up, Nawin grabs his jaw, opening and closing his mouth to get the feel of it back. He looks to the left and grins "Nice punch though, Misako. I felt it." That was able to cause a giggle to escape of the Ichiru's mouth. She can smile when seeing Nawin isn't truly hurt or angry. With Akame's helping hand, Nawin raises to his feet.
Dusting his jeans, Nawin looks at the two girls smiling at him. He can't help but smile back at them. "So," he shifts to Akame "Beside's her reflex," that comment cause Misako to cutely pout "How is she doing, Akame?" "Hand to hand combat wise, Misako has improved drastically. Street punks and gangs won't give her trouble. She should be able to go toe to toe with most Middle-Class devil in that area" "That's good. Her magic?" "She excels in those. With the book, you have given me on novice magic spells. Misako has mastered most of the useful ones without much difficulty" "Those sessions are fun!" Misako interjects with a beaming grin "It's so cool when I finally am able to produce them correctly."
Nawin smile in response. Though, he does inwardly frown over the fact that Misako has yet even to show signs of progress on unlocking her sacred gear. From what Azazel has told him. The harder and longer it is to unlock a particular sacred gear means it is in a more powerful rank. It took Issei to die to unlock his while Nawin's is a special case and what was hard for him is to control that power which somehow has already been unlocked but simply was in slumber. Another shard of mystery in the Makasha's unclear past.
"I still haven't unlocked my sacred gear yet through," Misako informs with disappointing tone. "At this point, it'll happen when it's time," Nawin state with a reassuring smile "Look at Akame. She hasn't unlocked her sacred gear yet, and she's one of the strongest individuals in Kuoh" "Oh! That is true! Akame-chan is truly amazing!" Nawin chuckles when seeing his Knight dons a cute blush over the compliment.
"Alright," Nawin jumps back to create space and slowly drops to his stance. A fun smirk dance on his lip. "Let's first start with some sparring. My body is a bit stiff this morning" "Two against one?" Misako asks, tilting her head "That's fair, Misako. No one in Kuoh can best Nawin-kun in close combat" "Sugoi!" The King and Knight laugh lightly at the Ichiru infectious bright personality. Clearly, Misako is just happy to be training with them. Without more needing to be said, the girls get to their stance and ready to face their King.
Time Skip: Center of Kuoh
"Rias." The Gremory blinks as she snaps out of her thoughts to look across the table, seeing Issei giving her a concerned look. The couple is currently in Spiral Mall for lunch. Eating some Thai food and set at the outdoor balcony that overlooks the rest of the mall.
Issei set the utensils down. "You ok? You've been quiet since morning" "Ah, sorry" Rias offers an apologetic smile then rest her arms on the table, shifting gaze at the beautiful view. "I was just thinking of what Akeno said to me yesterday," "What she said?" Issei blinks, hearing this for the first time. Yesterday Rias and Akeno had their usual girl time out, which left the Hyoudou to hang out with Kokoro and Elise.
Rias sigh and face her lover with a sharper edge in her eyes. "I'm worried, Issei. Worried for Akeno's and Nawin-kun's relationship" "Really? Didn't they just made amends over their last fight?" "I don't believe they amend it, Issei. I feel like they simply decided just to suppress it. In truth, I have begun to see flaws in their relationship ever since MIraya returned here" "You are talking about Akeno's jealousy, aren't you?" "Yes... I'm surprised you noticed. You usually are clueless when it comes to these topics" "It's not exactly easy to miss the looks Akeno-senpai would wear when Miraya and Nawin have a special moment. I caught some of it during the birthday."
"But," Issei leans back and cross his arms, wearing a curious expression "What exactly happened yesterday to make you have these thoughts?" "I understood she would be hesitant to talk about her past as only a handful of people knew what happened. She told me she'd be ready to tell Nawin soon" "How soon?" "Specifically, at her birthday" "W-what?! That's like two months ago?! And they've been dating over half a year now!" "Yes, and I discovered yesterday that she still hasn't told Nawin-kun about anything related to her past."
Rias rest her cheek on a fist and mindlessly stare at the glass of water by the side. "Her past is a tough subject. I understand why she would be afraid to talk about it. It brings back horrid memories and hatred that she hasn't buried yet." "But Nawin had told her about his past," Issei speaks up with slight anger, "He told me that he did. And Miraya appearing was a massive part of his past that he before left unspoken! Shouldn't Akeno repay it with telling some of hers?!" "You are absolutely right, Issei" "T-then, why hasn't she?" "Because she's worried that telling her past will resolve in a fight... And to be truthful, Issei. I don't think their relationship can handle much more."
"But still," Issei leans forward, uncrossing his arms, "Telling him will help." "Issei, think of her position. Akeno is insecure about her relationship since the beginning. That's why she was always protective of Nawin-kun. She loves him... She loves him more than anything, and there's not an ounce of doubt in my tone when I say those recycle words that get thrown around so mindlessly these days. She wants more than anybody to make this relationship strong and healthy, but both her and Nawin clung onto their painful past which hurt their relationship in some ways for a long time, but the two of them pressed on because their love for each other was strong."
Rias takes a sip of water to quench her thirst then sets the glass down. "Recently, Nawin was able to let go of his past by reuniting with Miraya. But, Akeno is still stuck there, and she's alone on that. So Nawin-kun is looking towards the future while Akeno is still stuck in the past. Which case the internal conflict between the two of them. And there's Miraya, who let's be honest ever since arriving here has brought Nawin-kun so much joy that's he's a changed person now. For the better. So, Issei, just imagine how that makes Akeno feel?" Issei clenches his fist and slowly nod, "With how she's already insecure over their relationship... It must be terrible."
"I like Miraya. She's an amazing person, and I can see why she possesses such a special bond with Nawin that no one else has. But... Her here has thrown a big hatchet on Akeno's and Nawin-kun's relationship. To tell you the hard truth," Rias release a heavy sigh "Nawin-kun would be much happier if he is with her right now. Right now... I can't say that him being with Akeno is what's best for him."
The Gremory words stun Issei, never expecting she would speak against her best friend like this. But, Issei realized that this situation must be difficult for Rias considering she cares very deeply for both Akeno and Nawin and simply wants both to be happy.
Rias looks up from the table and to Issei. "Now, do you understand the type of position she's in, Issei? Constantly worried on stepping on eggshells while being paranoid that someone could take Nawin-kun away" "And that is Miraya?" "Yes, but it could be someone else. Perhaps there's someone out there that's better for Nawin-kun than even Miraya-san... Though I personally find that to be a stretch."
Issei scratches the back of his head while digesting all of this. "I can understand the difficult position Akeno-senpai is in though truthfully I feel like she has put herself in that position, Rias. Why didn't she tell Nawin about her past during her birthday? Continuing to hide it just built distrust and I think lots of their fights surrounds that topic. Trust. If Nawin no longer has trust in Akeno-senpai, then that's bad."
Even though Rias can't find herself to say it out loud. She agrees with her lover's words. Akeno is at most fault. As their relationship continues to grow, Nawin has slowly opened up about his past. Even in their first month of dating, Rias remembered Akeno telling her that Nawin revealed about his life in Bangkok and how he lost his best friend. Even with everything he has told her since then, Akeno still barely spoke a word of her past and as times goes by, it no doubts become known to Nawin and has to bother him on some level.
Rias can't find a solution to solve this as she has never been in that position before. She doesn't have a painful and tough past like Akeno and Nawin. Same can be said for Issei, who is silent now and deep in thought. 'I hope you will find the courage to act soon, Akeno...'
Time Skip: Makasha Household
"Got a bit of chocolate there, Asia," Akeno speaks, kneeling in front of the young girl with a napkin in hand to wipe the treat stuck on the bottom lip. Stood by the side, Lucy smile at the scene while holding a couple of shopping bags in hand.
The girls have already finished their shopping and lunch in Ginzo Mall. Now they are in front of the house. Of course, Asia, with her love for sweets, decided to get some chocolate crepe on the way and messily chomps all of it down in minutes. An adorable sight that had both Akeno and Lucy smiling through their whole journey to home.
"Ehehe, thank you, Akeno-nee-chan!" Akeno simply smiles and give the blonde a gentle pat on the head before standing up. "So," Lucy speaks up, "You are going to pay Big Bro a visit?" "Yeah," Akeno nods "I actually never seen Misako train before. I also want to see Nawin-kun, so I'll kill two birds with one stone" "Alright. At least you being there, you'll be able to remind him to come home for dinner in time, so Mom won't go ballistic" "Ufufufu, I'll sure bring him back in time."
With a wave, Akeno departed to the north as she remembered Nawin telling her there's a secluded field he found hidden behind a deserted area of Kuoh up at north. An ideal place for Misako to train without needing to worry at being disturbed or more importantly seen.
With the lights to turn green, Akeno cross over the quiet road and continue to the destination at a moderate pace. Not long, she will be there. Akeno suddenly stops when a bell ring and the door of a convenient store open. Walking out is Akame holding a plastic bag containing bottles of waters and some sandwiches. Both girls eyes instantly set at one another, shocked by this unexpected encounter.
"Akame," Akeno is the first to speak as her eyes lower to show indifference "What are you doing here?" "Fetching some water and snacks for Nawin-kun and Misako" the Knight answers with stoic tone. With just exchanging few words, the air around the two is already tense that would make an onlooker believe that both girls aren't fond of each other and that fact is not far off.
Akame closes her eyes and turns around to walk ahead. "If you are just visiting to see Nawin-kun then I would rather you'd just wait for him to return home. It'll do harm in Misako's training if he gets distracted." Akeno's finger twitches by the blunt comment as her eyes stare sharply at the Knight's back. "You have a problem with me visiting that much?" Akame stops and turns halfway to glance back "I don't. I'm merely stating the fact you'll be a distraction for Nawin-kun. Simple as that."
Akeno openly frowns and glares at the Knight. "If I want to visit my lover, then I will. Without needing to hear your objection, Akame. Frankly, I don't care about your opinion." Akame's red eyes flash in displease for mere seconds before it reverts to monotone. "I am not surprised to see that you can be so selfish. When it comes to Nawin-kun, you only think of yourself instead of others. He can't have a day without you, no? Others can't have their time with him without you acting like a child... Grow up."
Akame openly returns the glare with her own before turning around to set off while giving her final words. "It also hasn't gone over my head that the reason you want so badly to spend time with Nawin-kun now is that Miraya will return tomorrow."
Akame gets caught with surprise when a hand comes down on her right shoulder, grabbing it painfully tightly then swiftly pulls her back to eat a punch to the side of the face that sends her slamming to a car parked on the road. The car alarm comes to life and booms around the area while Akame stood there frozen in shock by the fact the Himejima would go as far as getting physical. She slowly shifts her gaze forward to see Akeno glaring at her with raw rage behind those violet orbs.
"You," Akeno growls and snatch the Knight by the neck to slam her back to the side of the car. "You think just because you are so close to Nawin-kun that you know everything! Knows what's best for him?!" Akame drops the bag to the ground and grabs Akeno's wrist, her facial expression sharpens. "You are good for him? You, a person who has kept secrets from him, trying to drag him to the past, and continues to break his trust. You are nothing compared to people like Misako, Irina, and specifically Miraya. You can't giv-" Akame gets cut by a sudden left hook connecting to her mouth, snapping her head back to shatter the glass window of the car.
Akame leans back and remains emotionless even as small trails of blood sip down her mouth. Then, in a swift motion. She releases Akeno's wrist to grab the back of her neck while stepping to the side and pulls to send the Himejima facefirst into the other window of the car. Feeling the grip loosens, Akame slaps the hand on her neck away then grabs the bag to resume walking to the training field.
"Where do you think you're going?!" Akame stops and turns around to see Akeno stood there with a slightly bruised face. No deep cuts can be seen, considering being a Queen gives her body more durability. "Do you honestly want to do this?" Akame says and turns around to face the Himejima, "I've waited a long time to bloody up that stupid face of yours, Akame!"
The Knight drops the plastic bag and a portal rips from existence to take it to the pocket dimension. "If only Nawin-kun can see you know," Akame state which sets Akeno off to bolt towards her. At the last second, Akame sidesteps a punch and grabs Akeno by the shirt and jeans to lift her up then slams her through a wooden bench set on the right.
Akeno pushes some of the planks of her and glares up at the Knight. Akame catches the incoming kick, and with a firm hold on the ankle, she pulls and swings the Himejima to the other side and let's go. Akeno coughs out air as her back crash viciously onto a concrete building.
Sliding down to her feet, Akeno blast off the wall to swing a clothesline that connects perfectly to the neck and sends Akame spinning in the air a couple of times before crashing onto the ground. Not done, Akeno turns around and kicks Akame by the stomach which sends her up to the air once more and receives a downward punch to the back that sends her onto the ground again. The once perfect pavement now riddles with cracks.
Akame presses her hands to the ground and lift up, coughing out blood. There was no restraint in those attacks. Akeno ready to give a kick to the side but Akame blocks it with her arm then shoots up to deliver a surprise uppercut to the Himejima's stomach. Akeno's eyes widen as she coughs out air and saliva by the brutal blow. Akame's expression shows anger now, and she gives a full kick to the gut once more that sends Akeno blasting onto a car. The large SUV tumble sideways by the sheer force as Akeno drops over the vehicle and onto the middle of the road.
Akame surveys the area and notices some people have run away the moment the fight started. The small street is currently empty. Akame jumps over the SUV only to eat a high thrust kick to the chin that knocks her to daze and falls back to the asphalt.
"You know why I never liked you?!" Akeno speaks, marching forward and snatch the Knight the shirt, pulling her off the ground. Akame opens her eyes and looks down with a rare smirk formed on her lip. "Because deep in your heart, you know between the two of us, Nawin-kun holds more trust in me than you." Akeno's eyes flash in electric yellow with rage, and she thrust a right punch to Akame's stomach. The Knight wince but wills herself to stay strong to counter with lifting the right knee to nail at the Himejima's own abdomen. Akeno is stun and releases her grip to stagger back, hunching over in pain.
"Y-You, bitch" Akeno spat out, grabbing her stomach with one hand and stands straight. Akame throws a roundhouse kick which misses by Akeno managing to duck over it and respond with a straight kick, but Akame sidesteps it. "Akame," Akeno speaks after releasing her abdomen, glaring "You're always there to make me look bad. Butting your head into Nawin-kun's problems that should be left to me!" "Instead of helping him, you only give trouble! When was the last time you've done good by his side?!" Akame shouts back.
"AKAME!" In a fit of rage, Akeno appears in front and drive a brutal right hook to the center of the Knight's face. The road shake and cracks while Akame is blast away to an alleyway. Akeno breaks into a sprint to follow.
Elsewhere
"Magic Rods!" Misako announces, and five red color spears come to life around her before firing forward. Nawin smirk and lift his right hand upwards, "Void Shield!" A sizable defensive wall made of light appears in front of the Makasha and effortlessly block the incoming rods.
Nawin release the shield and his eyes widen, snapping to the right to see Misako floating in the air with her right arm extended. "Fury Lightning!" She shouts and discharges a massive blue lightning blast that envelopes the Makasha whole. Landing to the ground, Misako was ready to get to her stance but freeze still by suddenly seeing Nawin appear right in front. At the last second, she tumbles back to evade an elbow narrowly.
Nawin didn't advance when seeing the Ichiru's shaken state on the grass. "You ok?" he asks with worry, kneeling in front and gently sets his right hand on the girl's shoulder. "Y-yeah," Misako wipe the sweat off her forehead and gives a cute smile "Just a bit startled by you appearing like that, Nawin-kun. Ehehe, I'm still not used to your Speeding Shadow God technique" "It's fine," Nawin release the shoulder and takes a seat on the soft grass.
Taking a deep breath and exhaling, Nawin drops his arms on the grass and leans back. He stares up at the beautiful clear blue sky. "You have improved since our last training session, Misako" Nawin state, looking down to see the big grin on the Ichiru's face "Really?!" "Ahaha, indeed. You actually made me sweat a bit."
Misako's grin continues to widen by the praise from her King. "You got lots of the magic down," Nawin state "They were the easer parts of the training. I do better with spells than hand to hand at first" "I've heard..." Misako opens her mouth to speak more until she gets interrupted by her stomach growling. "Boey!" she pouts and starts rubbing her tummy "I'm getting very hungry!" "Akame does seem to be taking her time," Nawin state and glance to the direction where his Knight left "Wonder what's keeping her..."
Elsewhere
A thick wall made of bricks explodes, and Akame along with Akeno come crashing into an abandoned park hidden behind the various condominiums. Akame grunts at the aching pain surrounding her back as she slowly raised up. Akeno does the same, and for a moment, the two stares at each other.
The Knight and Queen break into a sprint and when in range swing their right fist forward to nail each other in the face. Both grit their exposed teeth and glares at one another. The ground beneath them cracked at the impact. Akeno tries to swing another punch with the left hand, but Akame catches it with her hand, keeping it in place. Akeno didn't stop and pulls her right arm, but Akame stops her by snatching the wrist.
With their arms retrained, Akeno doesn't relent and swing her head forward to headbutt Akame to create a sickening sound. Akame staggers back but keeps her grip secure. She snaps forward and gives her own headbutt that knocks Akeno to the ground. Akame goes down to pin both her legs around the Himejima's side then push the arms down to effectively have it resting on the neck.
Now both girls' forehead is cut open and dripping with blood. Akeno opens her eyes and glares at the Knight with hatred. Those violet orbs flashing to yellow. Akame starts pushing Akeno's arms down to start choking her. "Go to sleep," she utters in dead tone, "You already caused enough trouble." Akeno's glare just increases before she starts coughing, finding it hard to absorb air through her mouth.
Akeno starts kicking her legs to push the Knight off, but the pressure on the neck just increases. Her eyes start fading and her glares lesson. 'You are good for him? You, a person who has kept secrets from him, trying to drag him to the past, and continues to break his trust.' Those words Akame uttered reply in the Himejima's mind, and it set a newfound rage. Akeno's eyes come to life, and it shifts to electric yellow. Akame is surprised by a sudden headbutt to her mouth that sends her tumbling back. Akeno quickly sits up and pins the Knight on the ground with the left arm gripping her neck.
"You just keep pissing me off!" Akeno shouts and lifts the right fist in the air before bringing it down to pummel Akame's face with a barrage of punches. Akame brings her arms up to block some of the strikes, but many connect to cut her lip open and further opening the cut on the forehead. Akame's eyes glow, and she avoids another assault then gives a vicious elbow to the side of the Himejima's head. Akeno grunts in pain and gets daze by the attack which gives Akame room to escape by kicking her in the stomach, sending her barreling away.
Akame leans forward and drops to the knees. Blood trailing down her face and falls off the chin. Akeno drops on all four and pants heavily, a fair amount of blood falls from the side of her head that was elbowed. A huge gash is no doubt hidden behind the soak raven-hair.
Akame notice yellow electricity starts crackling around the Himejima, a sign that she's releasing mana. 'Is she going to go this far?' Akame slowly raises to her feet, then wipe the blood away from her eyebrows to prevent them from blinding her. Red aura starts swirling around the Knight.
Akeno stands to her feet and shifts up to show those venomous yellow orbs. Akame did not show a hint of fear and gets to a stance. In a blinding speed, Akeno thurst her right arm forward to discharge an electric blast. Akame brings both arms up and announces a spell, "Absorb Void!" A translucent barrier appears in front and sucks in the attack before shattering into shards.
Once again in a standstill. Akeno and Akame glare at each other before bursting forward with such speed the ground behind them implodes by force. The girls appear on each other's sides with their legs raised to strike. As time slows down, Akeno and Akame feel their heart skip a bit as their eyes widen at the sight of Nawin appearing in between and snatch them by the ankle. With a firm grip, he spins around and throws both girls to the opposite direction from one another.
Akame goes bouncing off the earth a few times before crashing to the ground while Akeno hits her back on a tree. "What the hell is going on here?!" Nawin shouts with a booming voice filled with absolute rage, his red eyes toward both girls. The red orbs glow in fury when noticing the bloody state on his girlfriend and Knight.
Akeno's eyes revert to violet as the electric aura vanishes from existence. "N-Nawin-kun," she utters out and feels her heart freeze when those red eyes shift to her. Nawin opens his mouth and looks ready to demand an answer, but quickly shuts it. He closes his eyes and takes a deep breath before exhaling, calming his heart. He knew exploding won't do any good in this situation that was clearly driven by emotions. Nawin wasn't blind, he was aware of the shaky relationship shared between Akeno and Akame. He just never expected it to break out into a grueling fight such as this.
Opening his eyes, Nawin walks toward his Knight. Akame looks up at her King. Even with her beaten and bloody face that must be surging in pain, she keeps a calm composure when facing Nawin. Akeno looks hurt that the Makasha is checking at Akame first before her. She was about to speak up, but Nawin cuts in. "Go home and get Asia to heal you, Akeno" "W-what about you?" Nawin kneels in front of Akame and set his hand on her shoulder "I'm going to chat with Akame first about this event. Clearly, you two aren't suitable to be near one another." Even with his calm tone, the girls can still catch the rage seeping out.
Without another word to be said, Nawin and Akame disappear in a black flash. Grunting in pain, Akeno pushes herself to stand. She grabs her stomach with the left hand and stares at the spot where her lover left with Akame. Akeno head shifts down to hide those violet orbs behind the bangs. The Gremory Crest suddenly appears beneath, and the Himejima disappears in crimson light.
Dasuma Street
Appearing in the living room of Akame's condominium. Nawin takes his hand back and points toward the couch. "Go take a seat there and remove your shirt. Face the other way." Akame obediently nods and climbs on the sofa, seating in a cross-leg style before removing the damage and bloody sleeveless shirt. A black sports bra is worn over to conceal her breast.
Nawin stares at the already visible bruises on the Knight's back. The once smooth, white surface now covers in hideous purple bruises. 'They did not pull any punches...' Nawin steps forward while taking a chair laid on the side to set it near the couch for him to sit. Akame can't contain her blush when feeling the Makasha's soft, warm hands touch her back. She winces when he reaches the most swollen bruise.
Concentrating his mana into the palms, Nawin begins slowly feeling the bruises and cuts. "... What happened, Akame?" he simply asks in a calm tone. Not one to lie to her King, Akame opens her mouth to retell the event from beginning to end, not leaving a single detail out.
When done telling what happened, Akame notice Nawin continue to stay silent for a moment. A minute past and he retract his hands to examine the healed back. Not a single bruise or cut is left to be seen. "You can turn around." Akame does as told then hesitantly shift her head up to see those stoic brown orbs staring at her. No ounce of emotion can be read in them.
"Akame... I whole-heartedly trust you and your actions without question. And even though it sounds like Akeno didn't give you must of a choice... You should still have found a way to handle that differently." "I know," Akame bows her head "I realized my mistake to engage in a fight with her. I... I should have been the better person in that situation. Instead, I said some stuff that just ignites more rage in Akeno. I apologies."
"You aren't the type of person to lose control like that." "I'm sorry," Akame repeats the apology, her heart aches at the thought of causing trouble to her King. An irony at play as it was what she criticized about Akeno. Nawin leans backward on the chair and messages his eyes for a moment before looking back at his Knight. "I'm not going to sit here and pick a side on who's more at fault. I know you two were never close as friend and harbor some hostile attitude, but I never expected it would come to a bloody blow like this. But hearing the taunts you gave doesn't surprise me that Akeno would snap."
Nawin's eyes suddenly sharpened. "I am not a fan at you using Miraya's name in such a way, Akame. She's back tomorrow, and I'm trying to get Akeno to be more open to her... You throwing those taunts does not help me." "... How can they be called taunts when it is facts," Nawin's eyes widen by those words as Akame sits up to look at him in the eyes.
"Akame..." Nawin speaks in a cold tone "It warms my heart that you care for me to this extent... But, let me handle Akeno's problem. Only I can get through to her and help her improve" "Why?" Akame asks as her expression soften, "Why do you continue to make things difficult for yourself, Nawin-kun?" "... Because at the end of the day, Akeno was able to make me fall in love again. After losing Miraya, I never thought it could be possible, but Akeno proved me wrong. I'm not giving up on her just yet."
With a warmer smile, Nawin brings his right arm around Akame's neck to pull her in. The Knight is left speechless as her forehead touches with the Makasha's. Closing his eyes, Nawin focuses his mana through the temple and begin healing the rest of the wounds surrounding his friend's face. Akame's feels her entire face going warm with a pleasant sensation coursing through her body. She finds herself closing her eyes and relaxing.
"You can rest easy, Akame. I don't blame you a single bit for that fight. Emotions simply ran wild between the two of you. But, promise me that there won't be a repeat." "I... I promise," "Good. I need you to set a good example, Akame. You are essentially my right-hand man. Misako and future members should look at you as someone they can count on" "I understand. I won't let you down, Nawin-kun" "I know you won't. I believe you aren't the kind of person to make the same mistake. That's why I hold so much faith in you, Akame." Those words bring a beautiful smile on the Knight's face.
Leaning back, Nawin opens his eyes to see all the wounds are healed. "All better?" Akame opens her eyes and nods. "Thank you, Nawin-kun" "No problem." With that said, Nawin stands up and gives one last smile "Get some rest. I'll be heading home to talk with Akeno," "Understood."
Akame watches her King disappears in a black flash. Alone in the living room, she collapses back on the couch and stares mindlessly at the ceiling. "Akeno Himejima... If you ever hurt him..."
Makasha Household
Appearing in his room, Nawin notices Akeno seated on the bed with knees pressed to her chest. No signs of injuries from the fight can be seen on her body. And it doesn't come as a surprise that she has changed into new clothes considering the old ones was riddled with cuts and holes by the end of the fight.
Turning around, Nawin takes off his jacket and places it on the hanger stuck at the closet's door. "I'm sorry, Nawin-kun." The Makasha stood still at the comment for a second before turning around to see the apologetic expression on the Himejima's face. Though, those violet eyes also display anxious in them.
"I started the fight," Akeno admits "I know," Nawin crosses his arms and lean back on the closet, his gaze firm. "Even though both parties are at fault for a different reason... It still stands that you started it and forced Akame to retaliate. Just tell me, Akeno" Nawin gives a softer look, "Why did you resort to violence?" "I-I," the Himejima brings her hands up and stares at them, "Just loss control of my emotions..." "I thought we were over this!" Nawin raises his voice, startling the Himejima.
Nawin knows he can't continue to be soft with Akeno. Trying to sugarcoat everything because he sees that doing that won't change anything. This event has opened his eyes to see that Akeno still needs guidance. He watches Akeno squirming in her seat in nervous, her eyes unable to face him. Seeing this hurts Nawin's, but he has to make things clear.
"Akeno... You need to control yourself and stop treating people that are close to me like their some kind of devious individual that's going to steal me from you. This mindset has to go now! Because this is hurting our relationship." Nawin finds himself pause for a moment before opening his mouth again "And I don't think I can handle much more of this, Akeno." Those words instantly snap the Himejima head up, and her eyes swiftly set on her lover. Those violet orbs beaming in great concern and frighten. Akeno starts feeling her breath quickens, and her body shaking ever slightly.
Nawin finds himself in front of the Himejima and pulls her into a hug. He feels her immediately returns the hug, holding him tightly. "D-don't say that, please" Akeno whispers in a hurtful tone which causes the Makasha's heart to ache when hearing it. "You need to start controlling your emotions, Akeno. You... You need to open up." Nawin pulls back and grabs Akeno's cheek with his right hand, wiping the little tears with his thumb. Akeno gives a small nod, "I'll try" "Thank you. I honestly should have had this heart to heart talk with you. I'm sorry," "No, I'm sorry, Nawin-kun" Akeno gives a warm smile and holds the hand rest on her cheek "I caused you many troubles because of my behavior. I will put a stop to it. For you... For us." Nawin wears a gentle smile and nods "I'm glad to hear that."
But even though he uttered those words, Nawin can't help to feel conflicted. It's as if he has just done the same thing before which ends up changing nothing. And with how much things have shifted now compared to the past. It makes him feel even more discouraged. For the first time in their relationship, Nawin feels those words coming out of Akeno's mouth are nothing but empty promises. He can't find himself believing in her words anymore, unlike in the past. And this doubt is slowly eating in his heart. Can he genuinely see this relationship continuing? He can't provide a confident answer anymore.
Time Skip: Unknown
"Fascinating." A smallest of smirk cracks on the Dragon God's face as her eyes slowly open. "That friction continues to develop, and in the end, it'll benefit me." Bringing her small right hand up to hold her chin, Ophis's smirk widens. "I wonder what her next move will be" she utters while gazing out the window to observe the young dragons soaring through the purple sky.
The large doors of the throne room open and in strides Kuroka. The Nekoshou halts a few feet from the Deity and drops to one knee with her head bowed in a sign of respect. "You called for me, Lady Ophis?" "Tell me, Kuroka. With your eyes kept on him for so long. How has Nawin Makasha grown?" "Mental wise?" A simple nod is a response from Ophis.
Kuroka eyes remain on the crimson carpet as she thinks of all the even, she has seen Nawin went through. She's been there in the shadows, under her feline form through almost all the hardships he has been through. She was there to observe and if need be, protect him from death. "He's a strong and courageous boy since the beginning. That has not changed and only grown. Fear isn't something he really feels. Not because of cockiness in his ability or blind naive... He simply refuses to display that emotion to be the pillar of everyone around him." "Sounds like you admire him," "Hard not too, Lady Ophis. Very few people I have met display that kind of courage and thoughtfulness like Nawin Makasha does."
"However," Kuroka continues "One thing I notice he lacks is a goal. He doesn't have one specific aim that pushes him to the next level. And I believe that is starting to become noticeable. He isn't as determined to get strong like before." "I agree," Ophis state with an impressed smirk 'She really has thoroughly studied him.'
"For now, Kuroka I want you to remain here" "Pardon?" the Nekoshou asks, slightly surprised considering she rarely remains in the castle and always out on her assignment. Ophis finally turns around to look at her subordinate. "When the time comes, I'll be heading to Kuoh to meet Nawin, and I want you to accompany me." Kuroka's body tense as her eyes widen by those words, concern growing in her heart "For what purpose?" "It's frankly time I have a word with him. Perhaps even giving him guidance," Ophis state with a small smirk that gives the Nekoshou uneasiness. Nevertheless, Koruka can't do anything but simply bows her head "Understood."
City of Kuoh
Walking down the empty side of Kuoh's biggest beach, Nawin stops and looks up at the night sky. He takes a deep breath of the fresh air and exhales. Shifting gaze higher, he looks at the beautiful full moon. After everything that transpired today, Nawin wanted some time to himself to relax. Having a simple dinner outside alone, then finds himself wanting to visit the beach to take in the soothing view of the ocean.
Taking a seat on the chair that the beach provides for visitors, Nawin closes his eyes and enjoys the cold breeze blowing pass him. When opening his eyes, certain emotions can be seen prominently in those brown orbs. Sadness, loss, and loneliness.
An image of Sayomi's last smile appears then those words she uttered before disappearing into the night. 'Goodbye, my dear.' 'Sayomi... Why is it when I'm with you... I feel happy, content.' Then an image of Miraya appears. A girl who also gives Nawin that feeling. A person he thought could only give him that feeling in such a simple way by mere presence and words.
Ever since leaving Tokyo, Sayomi Dracul has been the only thing in the Makasha's mind. He wants to know about their shared past badly. Once he could have suppressed the urge, but after their last encounter, Nawin can't find himself to keep it down anymore. He needs to know. 'Besides Sayomi... Only two other people know of my past.' An image of Yao and Jonathan appears in mind. 'I can't be in the dark any longer. I need to confront them. I need to know...'
Suddenly, his phone starts ringing, and Nawin pulls it out of the pocket. He examines the screen and is surprised to see it's Hiroto. Answering it, Nawin pulls the decide to his ear. "H-Hello?" An unexpected feminine voice comes from the other line. Nawin finds himself holding his breath for a second before able to give a reply. "Aiko?" "Y-yes, it's me." The girl lets out a weak but nervous laugh, which brings a warm smile on Nawin's face.
"How are you doing?" Nawin asks in a gentle tone, "I actually w-woke up a few hours a-ago." With the stutter, it was clear Aiko was still weak and should be getting some rest. "You sound weak... You should be in bed, Aiko" "I-I know, but I w-wanted to talk to my savior. I w-won't be able to sleep u-until I thank you p-personally."
Nawin sits up when hearing the heavy breather and sniffs from the other line. "T-thank you," Aiko whispers in a shaky voice through her tears "Thank you so much, N-Nawin-san. For s-saving my life and b-be generous to provide my family with such fortune. W-we all owe y-you a great debt. T-thank you, thank you."
"... Aiko," Nawin reply with his glossy eyes looking up at the skies, unable to keep composed by the girl's sincere words. Hearing those words coming from that weak voice was heartbreaking, but at the same time, able to hear Aiko said those words herself brings joy to the Makasha's heart. "It's alright. I'm nothing but glad to be able to help you and your family. You all deserve happiness, so, please... When you get better, start your new life with a bright smile. Your Mother and Hiroto cares so much for you and will be by your side no matter what."
"I will," Aiko whispers with such happiness that Nawin can picture a bright smile on her face. "Good. Now, get some rest, ok?" "Yeah, I-I'm feeling quite sleepy now," Aiko says with a cute chuckle. "... Goodbye, Aiko" "Goodbye, Nawin-san. Please stay safe," "You too." With that Nawin press the end button to cut the line.
Standing up, Nawin return his phone into the pocket then stares at the peaceful ocean for a moment. The small waves crashing on the shore occasionally and the moon's light reflects on the water to create a beautiful image. For the first time since he left the house, Nawin feels happy. Turning around, he sets off home. "Thank you... Sayomi."
