Hi Everyone! I hoped all of you had a wonderful holiday and are well and good!
Once again, thank you for being so patient!
I want to start the first chapter of the year strong, so I hope all of you enjoy it!
"Where am I?" In the empty and dark streets stood Lucy Makasha. She gazes around to scour the area and notices the old wooden houses. All the doors and windows are shut to signal either everyone is sleeping or not home. Walking toward a closed store, Lucy gives a few knocks. "Hey, anyone in there?" A few seconds pass by, and Lucy provides another knock; however, the silence continues.
When returning to standing in the middle of the dirt road, Lucy's eyes suddenly twinkle in recognition. "Wait..." she examines the street once more. "Isn't this the peasant area of Vesarima?" Lucy becomes alert when a sudden magic signature appears from the right. She snaps towards the direction, getting in a fighting stance when feeling the signature speeding towards her. "Uh?!" Lucy freeze when seeing emerging from the shadows is Akeno. Looking hysteric with fresh tears pouring down her violet eyes. "Ake-" Makasha didn't get a chance to finish saying the name as Himejima just runs past her as if not even acknowledging she is there.
"Akeno!" Lucy shouts then begins chasing the raven-haired woman. As Makasha rushes through the empty street, the entire area abruptly goes dark. Turning into an abyss. "Ah-aaahhh!" Lucy screams as the ground beneath split apart and swallows her whole. Eyes snap wide, Lucy sees herself standing in front of one of the four entrance gates in Vesarima. One thing Makasha is unaware of is her right eye is rapidly flashing in gold.
Scouring around, Lucy notices a tall figure stood near the opened large gates. More individuals can be seen kneeling around this unknown person. All of them stood in the shadows that hide their appearance. "R-Rias!" Lucy shouts when noticing Gremory is kneeled on one knee, not far from the group in the shadows. Panting in exhaustion while her casual clothes are littered with cuts. Lucy steps forward, ready to bolt to aid Rias, but she stops when her right feet touch something. She snaps her sight down, and gasps at the prone body of Akeno laid on the ground. Alive but unconscious.
"Don't go!" Rias's scream catch Lucy's attention and looks up. Her eyes grow as wide as possible as her mouth goes agape in horror. The shadow moves and reveals the person standing in front of Gremory is Nawin, her brother. Looking terrifying with those glowing red eyes, the pupils are slit, matching that of dragons. That horrid mark covered half of his chest and face. "B-Big brother?" Lucy whispers in horror, shakily taking a step forward, but her presence remains oblivious.
"Goodbye," Nawin utters in a chilling stoic tone and turns around. "Ah!" Lucy's body jolts, and she make haste towards. Tears began dripping down her mismatch colored eyes. "Don't go!" she shouts and reaches out when in range, grabbing Nawin's coat, but he swiftly vanishes the moment her finger touched him.
"Aaaahhhh!" Lucy screams as she shoots up from the bed. Her wide-eyes frantically looks around to see she is on her bed, in her room. Touching her cheeks, Lucy notices the fresh tears streaming down from her eyes. "T-that can't be true," Lucy speaks in her cracking tone as she tries to wipe away the tears. That image of her brother reappears in her mind, clear as day. "A nightmare... It has to be," Lucy whispers, but her heart freezes when she noticed a bright light shining on the blanket. Her right eye is glowing in gold.
Morning: Gray Lotus Motel
"Uh," a groan escapes from Nawin's lip as he slowly opens his eyes. Blinking slowly to rid of the blurriness. Once again, another groan emits by the soreness felt on his back and pelvis area. Feeling more awake, Nawin notices the surface he's lying on his uncomfortably hard, too solid to be a bed. Shift his head to the right and glance down. Nawin raises an eyebrow when seeing he is lying on the dining table.
Makasha shifts to the other side and sees Sayomi is laid right next to him. Her arm wrapped firmly around his chest while her head rests on his shoulder. Somehow there's a blanket laid over their nude form. Nawin's nose twitch at the scent of sex still clouds around the dark room.
"Your stamina rather frightening, my dear." Nawin blinks and looks over to see Sayomi is awake, yawning a bit before sending an impressed smirk at him. "I think I'm going to be sore below for a few days" "Well, I'm going to be as well with how rough you were... I swear we would have broken the bed last night if we didn't change location." The two stares at each over for a second before letting out a chuckle. "Good Morning, my dear" Sayomi whisper and leans forward to give a gentle kiss to Nawin's cheek "Good Morning to you too, Sayomi."
"Did you get the blanket?" "Yeah," Sayomi utters, dropping her head on Makasha's warm chest. She's still exhausted after a long and eventful night, to say the least. After that last round on this table, you passed out, and I was utterly exhausted as well, so before my eyes shut, I brought the blanket and laid it over us. "Nice of you" "Hmm. Don't want you getting sick. We were covered in sweat by the time we were done."
Nawin exhales and stares at the white roof with a tranquil expression. Sayomi remains in place, her long, smooth silver locks spread around the table. She gently caresses Makasha's toned stomach with her right hand while mindlessly stares at the wall. For a moment, the couple simply enjoys each other's company in silence. Additionally, both did not feel like getting up from both soreness and tiredness.
Not wanting to go back to sleep, Sayomi unwraps from Makasha and slowly sits up. The blanket drops to reveal her upper form. Nawin can't help but stare at the beautiful shape of the Pureblood. Soft, pale skin with a curvaceous figure. Her breast, bountiful size with nicely shade pink areola. Her stomach toned and fit but not too the point muscles can be seen. To Nawin's eyes. Everything about the woman before him is perfect. Her ravishing beauty is almost unreal even to the Supernatural World, where beauty is common. Somehow the Pureblood goes even beyond that ceiling. Making her truly unique.
"Come on," Sayomi hops of the table and stands up. Setting the right hand on the side of her wrist, she turns to Nawin. "Hmm," "Just going to lay there and groan?" "I think you broke some of my bones around my waist" "You smashed me into the mirror at one point last night, but you don't see me complaining, my dear." Nawin blinks and glances to the left to notice the mirror stand beside the television is indeed shattered. Many shards littered the floor.
"Now come on," Sayomi gestures. "Get up. I'm sure you must be famished, so let's go take a shower," "Hmm." Seeing Nawin isn't budging, Sayomi's eyes shift to the table legs. Makasha's eyes snap open wide in alert when feeling himself drops down as the table collapse. "Guh!" Nawin grunt when the legless table crash onto the floor. "Really?" he utters and looks up to the smirking Pureblood.
Nawin pushes his arms and slowly raise up. He blinks when a hand is suddenly offered and looks up. Sayomi wears a warm smile, "Come now. We got a busy day today." Makasha's eyes become more awake as he remembers today is the last day for them, and it is the day Sayomi will heal Asia's sight. Realizing this, Nawin begins to smile and lift his right hand up to accept the help.

Exiting the shower first, Nawin heads to the closet to get some spare clothes. Sayomi still remains in the bathroom to carefully dry and straighten her hair. After putting on a gray t-shirt with black stripes along with a pair of dark blue jeans, Nawin shuts the door then stare at his reflection from the mirror that's built into the front door. Slowly, Makasha finds his eyes gazing down at the black ring worn on the index finger.
Bringing the right hand to his chest, Nawin closes his eyes and begins to concentrate. He pours some of his mana into the ring to make the red crystal embedded on the top to glow faintly. A connection soon can be heard in his ears. 'Huh? H-hello?' A smile form on Nawin's lip when hearing that soft and gentle voice, which always soothes his heart. 'Misako,' 'Uh! N-Nawin-kun?' 'Yes, it's me. I'm speaking to you through our rings.'
'I see... Are you ok?!' 'Yes, I'm fine.' Nawin chuckles a bit at Ichiru's sudden worries though he can't really blame her. 'I'm sorry for making you worry' 'No, it's ok. I'm just glad you are better now, Nawin-kun. Your voice sounds so much... livelier. You are better now, yes?' 'Yeah, I'm doing much better now' 'That's comforting to know!' Misako's sigh of relief can be heard clearly from the other end. 'Will I get to see you soon, Nawin-kun? Will you return to school?' Makasha finds his eyes shifting to the bathroom where Sayomi is at.
'We will see each other again soon, Misako. Sadly it won't be today as I am busy with some stuff. For school... Honestly, that's not in my mind right now.' 'Oh...' Nawin did not miss the sound of disappointment from Ichiru 'You aren't doing anything dangerous, Nawin-kun?' 'No, don't worry, Misako. I'm not in any danger. That's not why I've been distant and quiet lately. I assure you.' 'Ok. As long as you are safe, that is the most important thing.' 'Ahaha, I'm glad you hold such concern for me, Misako' "Of course, I would be a concern!' Nawin chuckles at the childish pout that ends after the response. He can clearly picture the adorable expression on Ichiru's face right now.
'I'll have to go now, Misako. I just wanted to check up on you and rid of your worries.' 'Thank you for contacting me, Nawin-kun. I feel at ease now, knowing you are better' 'That's good. I'll chat with you later, alright, Misako?' 'Okie Dokie! Take care, Nawin-kun! Please stay safe!' 'Will do.' Opening his eyes, Nawin sets his arm to the side then looks up to see Sayomi leaning against the bathroom doorway with a towel wrapped firmly around her body.
"Contacting someone?" Sayomi inquires, "Yeah," Nawin nods and opens the closet for the Pureblood. "Wanted to speak to Misako to ease her worry." "Hmm," Sayomi stops by the side and smirks, "Always the thoughtful one you are" "Not really," Nawin reply, stepping away to give Sayomi space to change. He stops by the window and opens the curtain to let the light in. "If I was really thoughtful, then I would be running to the school right now and greet all of my friends with a smile to make their worries go away" "And why aren't you doing that?" "Because that smile would be a fake." Sayomi goes silent as she throws on a black short-sleeve blouse after putting on the gray jeans.
"Nawin..." Sayomi speaks up in a gentler tone, "I can't be here any longer" "But I can reason with Rias and the rest!" Nawin snaps a quick reply, turning around to look at the Pureblood with some fire in those brown eyes. Sayomi's remains calm. "Say you were able to convince your friends that I mean no harm. You think the Satans and the other higher-up figures in the Devil Faction will listen so willingly?" "I-" "Think the Old Council will take kindly to the fact that you and I possess this kind of connection? What's likely to happen is that they'll use that fact against you to damage your reputation. You are forgetting just how deeply Alucard ruined the Pureblood's name. And I know you aren't in good terms with the Old Council, Nawin. They'd do anything to shine a bad light on you if you gave them a chance."
Sayomi watches Nawin go silent and stares at the ground, his hands silently clench into fists. Her heartache as to the Pureblood, seeing Nawin be anything but happy, always felt wrong to her. In the past, she would do everything to bring a big smile on his face. Something she always strived to do along with keeping him safe. 'Things used to be much simpler back then...'
Nawin is surprised when he is suddenly pulled into a hug. The anger within quickly vanishes by the comforting warmth Sayomi gives along with that familiar pleasant scent of lavender, which is her favorite flower, hits his nose. Makasha's expressions soften before raising his arms to return the hug.
"I'm sorry," Nawin whispers "Here I am begging for you to stay even though I know it must be hard for you... No harder. Because you were away from me knowing everything while I was oblivious." Bringing her right hand up to gently stroke the back of Makasha's hair. "It's ok, my dear," Sayomi whispers then gently pull back to look at Nawin. She gives a gentle smile. "But let's not dwell on this right now, hmm? We have some time before you go pick Asia up. So, shall we go fetch some breakfast?" Sayomi steps toward the door, still holding one of Makasha's hands.
As the door is opened and Sayomi stares out at the clear, bright morning sky. Nawin takes a moment to stare at her, seeing that beautiful smile plastered on her face. A sight that he won't able to see regularly for much longer. But, Nawin takes a deep breath and push that thought away. He knows there's nothing he can say to change Sayomi's mind, and he refuses to make it any harder for her. So, with a smile forming on his face, Nawin nods to Sayomi and follows her out of the door to go fetch the last breakfast they'll have together.
Kuoh Academy
"Asia-chan," Koneko softly speaks out as she stops beside Asia's desk, watching the Blonde finished packing her stuff. The first break of the day just arrived, and as usual, Koneko stops by her friend's desk to guide her to the courtyard where they can enjoy some snacks while conversing. It has become a routine now ever since Asia's sight was sealed. Even though she has gotten used to it and can navigate around the school with more confidence compared to the start after learning the entire layout. But, stairs and students that would pop out of nowhere by exiting a room can be a danger.
Koneko once allowed Asia to navigate to the courtyard alone once as a test. She remained in the shadows and tailed the Blonde, but it didn't take long for her to rush over when Asia tripped on the stairs and would have plummeted down and hit her head if she wasn't quick on her feet and caught her on time. Ever since then, Koneko always remained by Asia's side unless either Akeno or the Blonde's siblings are with her.
Placing the bag on her shoulder, Asia stands up and gives a small smile to Koneko before taking the offered hand. "You ok?" Yuuto speaks up when noticing Issei staring at the departing girls with a conflictive look. "How long has Asia been blind now?" "... Almost five months, I believe," "And there's still no solution to fixing it?" "Azazel-sama would have cured her if he'd already found a way, Issei-kun. Asia-chan is his Goddaughter, so I believe he is working hard." "But it's been five months!" Issei push on, showing some frustration, "I know all of us tries to overlook it. Ignore the fact she's blind, but when things are normal, and we see her struggling in daily life... It is a bad reminder," "I know... Unfortunately, there's not much we can do about it, Issei-kun."
Riser stops beside his fellow Blonde, arms crossed. "Want to do something, then go find that Pureblood" "And do what?" Issei retort with a glare, "Politely ask her to undo the curse?" "Sure, ask nicely... Perhaps bring Nawin along with you, and your chance of success would be higher." "Now that you brought it up," Yuuto grip his chin in a thinking manner. "From what you told me about your encounter with her in Brasov. It makes me think she holds a unique relationship with Nawin-kun" "Well," Riser shrugs. "She calmed down quickly after Nawin arrived. So I guess there's something there... Huh," Riser scratch his head in annoyance "That's another piece of puzzle added in the mystery of that Pureblood."
"None of you asked Nawin-kun about it?" Yuuto asserts, and both Riser and Issei go silent. Zipping the bag shut, Akame slings it onto her shoulder. Her sharp gaze remains on the three boys for a second before she turns around and exits the classroom. "Akame-chan!" the Knight stops by the stairway and looks up to see Misako quickly dashing down and stops in front. "Why did you leave without me?!" Akame blinks, "Sorry..." Misako stares a moment at the blank apology before cracking a giggle.
As the two friends walk down to the ground floor and set their bags into their own lockers. "I talked to Nawin-kun this morning," Misako suddenly reveals as she shuts the locker. Akame's hands momentarily freeze before she faces Misako, a look of shock shown clear in her bright red eyes. "Really?" "Yeah," Misako smiles "He contacted me through the ring he gave us. He must have noticed my worry, so he wanted to talk to me to say he's doing better! And when talking to him, he definitely sounds like he's doing much better since the last time we saw him, Akame-chan!" "I see. That's a big relief to hear."
As Misako continues to grin in joy, delighted by the fact that Nawin took the time to contact her. Which is an endearing scene to the Knight considering she knows of Misako's affection towards their King. However, Akame is a bit taken aback that Nawin decided to contact Misako. She would have expected him to remain silent until Sayomi leaves. 'Does that mean she's leaving soon?' Even though the Pureblood never said it outright to her, Akame got the feeling that Sayomi wants to depart soon after their last conversation. To protect Nawin, she has to leave to allow him to grow and not bring any trouble to him.
"… MISAKO!" "KYAAAA!" Ichiru shrieks and jolts a bit when Senna appears behind and attacks her with a sudden hug. "Senna," Momo stops beside her sister with a disapproved expression, seeing just how freighted Misako is. "That wasn't nice. Apologies to her" "Wow, you really sound like my Mom right now," Senna replies with a blank stare before grinning when turning back to Misako. "It's all for fun, right, Misako-chan?" Senna starts playfully rubbing her cheeks with the flustered Ichiru.
"I-It's ok, Momo-chan," Misako speaks up with a smile returning to her face. "You really are too nice," Momo remarks, crossing her arms. Letting go of her friend, Senna takes a step back and rest her hands on the hips, grinning broadly. "I actually wanted to ask you two if you would like to go to a new hot spring that just opened in Jinka?" "Jinka?" Akame repeats, "The small town to the east of Kuoh. Famous for their Onsen" "Yep," Momo nods. "They had the grand opening of another one that's even bigger than the last one that made them so popular. Senna loves hot spring and wants to go there. It'll be a one-day trip. Today is Friday so we were thinking of going on Saturday and returning on Sunday."
"Well," Misako pokes her index fingers together. "I have never been to a hot spring before, so I like to experience it" "What?!" Senna looks shocked. "You really never been to a hot spring before?! It's the best, Misako! It really helps you relax and does wonder for your skin. Gotta stay looking at your best for your love interest!" Misako blushes a bit at that last comment.
Momo turns to the quiet Akame. "Can you come, Akame-san?" The Knight remains silent for a moment, contemplating if leaving Kuoh was a wise choice. Her mind shifts back to her King. Her eyes set on Misako, who is giving her the puppy eyes. Inwardly sighing, Akame decides to suppress her worry for Nawin. With what Misako informed early, it had eased her mind on the matter. "Sure, I can tagalong" "Perfect!" Senna cheers.
"Though," Senna starts pouting. "I really wanted to invite Nawin-kun too, but he's still not back in school" "He'll return in time," Akame swiftly comment. "I guess... I hope it's soon." Misako wanted to shine some light on Senna and Momo about Nawin, but a single look from Akame stopped her.
Momo glance at her phone at the time. "Do you want to go fetch some snacks in the cafeteria? Better go now before the break ends" "They are serving Blueberry muffin today!" Senna just remembers and takes Momo's hand before turning to Misako and Akame. "Come on! We should go before there's none left!"
Senna drags her sister further down the hallway in quick fashion, though, Misako didn't immediately follow and instead turns to Akame. "Why didn't you want me to tell them about Nawin-kun, Akame-chan? Senna is genuinely worried" "Yes, but you know she'll push for more if you give her a chance. Best to stay quiet until we know when Nawin-kun will truly return." "I guess…" Akame notice Misako is looking down at her feet, her thumbs twirling against together. This gesture is something Ichiru would do when she is nervous to ask specific questions.
"What do you want to ask, Misako?" "... You know something about Nawin-kun, don't you? D-Did you meet with him?" Akame remains calm by those innocent eyes staring at her. "I do... But I can't tell you what we discussed without Nawin-kun's permission. I'm sorry, Misako." Instead of getting a disappointed reaction, Akame is a bit surprised by the smile beaming on Ichiru's face. "I see. Actually, knowing that eases me even more on the matter. Please tell me when you saw Nawin-kun he looked better compared to when we found him in the rain?" "He is much better... He was smiling." "Thank goodness."
Akame watches Misako wipe the small tears from her eyes. Seeing just how much it means for Misako to know Nawin was truly a heartwarming sight. The girl genuinely loves him. Akame hopes that somehow in the future, Nawin will reciprocate that affection. "Come now," Akame takes Misako's hand with a smile, "Let's head to the cafeteria," "Ok."
Guiding Misako to the cafeteria, Akame failed to notice a figure stood at the stairway, listening in everything that just transpired between her and Misako. Leaning off the handle, Rias uncrosses her arms and head back up the stairs. Her lip twist into a small frown.

The day continues for the Students of Kuoh Academy with their studies. With it being the first week back, the Students were put through much work to make up for the absent previous week. And before anyone realized it, the last bell of the day rings to signal school if done for the day. While the other students quickly rush off to either their clubs or home, Rias remain at her desk and gaze out at the afternoon sun. "Rias," a calm voice suddenly calls over from the right. Gremory snap out of her thoughts and turns around to meet eyes with Sona.
Rias is unable to stop the groan from escaping her lip as she turns back to the window. "Rias, it's been five days now. Where are Nawin and Akeno?" "I told you that both of them are going through a rough patch, Sona. There's not much else I can add to it." "It doesn't look like you're doing anything to help them" "You think I enjoy the incompetent position that I'm in?" Rias snaps and glares at Sitri.
"Akeno has locked herself in her room, and Nawin is entirely untraceable. Not much I can do, alright?!" "... Sorry," Sona sighs heavily, her stoic expression breaks and replaced with worry. "I pushed because I am getting concern... I think it is affecting Lucy," "Lucy?" Rias sits up, "What's wrong with her?" "She's been distant today. Unnaturally quiet to the point of worrisome. I tried speaking to her one on one to ask if something is wrong, but she just gave a throwaway answer like she's tired. And I've noticed Asia is not herself recently either" "Yeah..." "This is escalating to the point it is affecting others, Rias."
Letting out a loud sigh, Gremory gets up and grabs her bag. "And what exactly do you want me to do about it, Sona?" Rias asks before walking off and out of the classroom. And as she expected, silence is the only thing to come from Sona.
Leaving school earlier than usual, Lucy guides her younger sister to their home by hand. Both blondes are silent in their walk. Each in their own mind. When the light turns green, the two quickly cross the road and continue down the sidewalk. Lucy looks ahead and sees they have to make a right turn. Holding Asia's hand firmly, she is ready to turn until her body freeze. Same goes with Asia, and slowly, her expression morph to one of shock. An unmistakable magic signature just appeared behind them, but both wondered if it is even real.
"Lucy, Asia." The moment she heard that soothing voice calling for her, Asia releases Lucy's hand and turns around, bolting toward the source. "Onii-chan!" she cries out in tears, and Nawin drops to one knee and catches the hug. Asia wraps her arms tightly around her brother's shoulder as tears continue to stream down her face. All the negative emotions she held on for the past days exploded the moment she meets her beloved brother.
Nawin holds Asia with the right arm then looks up to see Lucy staring at him. Her eyes are watering as she bit her lip in almost a restraint manner. With a single knowing smile from Nawin, Lucy bolts forward and jumps into his other arm, hugging him tightly just like Asia. Watching both his sisters crying on him causes Nawin's heart to ache in guilt. Sometimes he forgets that both girls in front of him are still young and inexperienced. What's happening now in his life has affected them greatly. He plans to make things right when this is all over. The first being is getting Asia's sight back.
Staying quiet for a minute, Nawin simply stroke the girls' back in a soothing manner and listen to their cries slowly receding. "I'm sorry for being away," he mutters and pulls back to look at both Asia and Lucy. He wears a sincere smile while cupping their cheeks and wipe the remaining tears away with his thumb. "Truly. It must have been tough for both of you, and I won't give an excuse. I should have kept in contact with both of you." "W-why didn't you?" Asia asks in a whisper, "I... I was being selfish." Nawin realized during the joy time he was spending with Sayomi, he didn't once think about his sisters. He was entirely focused on Sayomi after learning the truth. While he was out there having fun, Asia and Lucy were suffering. His anger towards Akeno and his parents too blinded him for a while.
"Selfish?" Lucy repeats as if shock by that fact. Nawin nods. "I was only focused on my problem. I should have thought of you two as I know things must be tough for both of you at home" "It is," Asia whispers. "Mama has been sad, and Papa tries to stay positive, but he's tired. Akeno-nee-chan..." "She's locked herself in your room for days now," Lucy answers.
'Akeno...' Nawin knows he'll have to talk to her soon. "I see. I'm sorry for all of this" "Wait," Lucy cuts in, "This isn't all your fault!" "Yeah!" Asia nods in agreement, "Onii-chan, please don't blame everything at yourself" "But I am still partly to blame. I walked out that night and didn't come back. I left you two, and for that, I am sorry."
'I walked out that night and didn't come back.' Those words spark an image in Lucy's mind. The vision of Nawin standing in front of Rias, staring down at her with those venomous shining red slit eyes, half his body covered in the mark. She still can't tell if that was a nightmare or somehow a vision. "Lucy," "Huh?!" the Blonde blinks and notice Nawin looking at her with concern. "You alright?" "Y-yeah," she offers a smile, "Just tired," "Nightmares?" Nawin pushes on, noticing the dark bags underneath his sister's eyes. "Yeah... I think so."
Slowly rising back to his feet, Nawin looks at Lucy with an apologetic smile. "Lucy, I'm sorry about this, but I'll have to leave now. There is another reason I came to see both of you." Nawin's gaze moves to his youngest sister, "I need to take Asia with me for the day." "W-what?" Lucy blinks in shock, "Why?" "I found a way to fix her sight" "..." Silence falls between the sibling as the coming wind howls by. Lucy's wide eyes stare straight at her brother while Asia looks speechless, hands unconsciously held together on her chest. After such a long time, a glimmer of hope starts growing in her heart.
"Then," Lucy takes a step forward, "Can't I come as well?" "No." Both girls are shocked by the direct answer. Nawin hates that he has to be secretive towards Lucy, but he can't tell her about Sayomi in this current time, and he doesn't want to lie to his sister. "I can only bring Asia with me, Lucy." "Onii-chan," Asia whispers, not knowing what to say. Lucy remains calm and simply stare at her brother, looking into his brown eyes. She sees it. That warmth of her beloved brother still resides there as he looks at her. "Big Bro... Can you give me a big smile?" Nawin blinks by the sudden request. But when seeing those blue eyes begging him, he knew it was serious.
Lifting his lip and closing his eyes, Nawin gives a bright grin that's is as genuine as it can be. Lucy's heart swells in joy and relief, she can't help but grin back and throws herself forward to hug her brother once more. Nawin softly chuckles and returns the gesture. "A big enough smile for you?" Lucy pulls back and nods, "It's a perfect smile." Nawin leans in to give a kiss to the Blonde's forehead and pets her head. "I'm well, Lucy. You don't need to worry," "Ok."
"Asia," Nawin speaks and gently takes his sister's hand. "Will you be back home?" Lucy asks, "Soon," Nawin answers, which makes both girls smile. "See you later, Lucy-nee-chan!" Asia waves "Bye, Asia." Lucy turns to her brother, "Can you really fix her sight?" "The next time you see her, you'll see those emerald eyes again, Lucy. I promise," Nawin state with confidence before both he and Asia disappear in a black flash.
The sibling reappears in the middle of a forest, away from any potential onlookers. "You ok there?" Nawin asks when seeing Asia's legs are wobbling a bit. "Y-yeah," Asia gives a tough grin. "Just a bit woozy. It's been a while since I traveled with you with your Speeding Shadow God, Onii-chan. Much faster than regular teleportation spell" "Ahaha, it sure is."
With his hand firmly holding on Asia's, Nawin leads her deeper into the forest. "... Where are we, Onii-chan?" "At the forest outside of Kuoh. We're in the area where I would ordinary trained at." "Oh, I see. Though why are we here, Onii-chan? I thought we might be going to the Underworld" "The person that's going to fix your blindness is up ahead," "Person?" Asia repeat, tilting her head. Slowly, Nawin stops and kneels to one knee in front of his sister, a hand rest on her shoulder. "Yes, and this person is someone we know. But, Asia, I want you to remain calm when we see her, ok?" Nawin knew that ever since Sayomi took away her eyesight, Asia has held a deep fear for the Pureblood. "..." Silence momentarily falls as Asia's expression slowly shift to worry, it did not take her long to realize who her brother is referring too, "H-her? Onii-chan wh-" "Asia," Nawin softly intercepts, squeezing the girl's shoulder gently in comfort. "Trust me on this. She'll heal you. And I promise she won't bring any more harm to you."
Asia's beating heart gradually settles when hearing her brother's promise. She knows how much those words weigh. "You trust me, right?" "Of course, Onii-chan... More than anyone." Nawin smile and leans in to plant a kiss to the girl's forehead to ease her worry. "I love you, Asia" "I love you too, Onii-chan."
Nawin's eyes shift up, looking past Asia and to the forest. "Sayomi, you can reveal yourself now." Asia's body tense when that intense aura enters her senses. So fierce and powerful, that is unforgettable, and it sends cold chills down her spine. The Blonde slowly shift closer to her brother, holding onto his arm for protection. Nawin holds Asia close while watching Sayomi emerge from the shadows. Her blood-red gaze stares at the frightened girl.
"What do you need her to do?" Nawin asks, "Nothing. I planted the curse on her so I can simply release it. There's no ritual involved." Asia's face remains near her brother, refusing to face the Pureblood. "I need her to face me," Sayomi states, stopping a few feet from the sibling and kneels to one knee. "Asia," Nawin whispers. "It'll be ok. Please turn around and face Sayomi."
Trusting her brother, Asia slowly nods and releases her grip on his arm. Turning around, she takes enough steps until she is stood in front of Sayomi. "W-why?" Asia chokes out, "Why h-help me?" "Because I regret what I did. You're a good girl, Asia. A wonderful little sister to Nawin." Those words stunned Asia so much that she didn't register when Sayomi place a hand over her eyes. "Unseal..." the Pureblood whisper and a bright pink light emit on the palm. The aura with similar color starts flowing out of Asia's sealed eyelids, being absorbed into Sayomi's palm. Nawin observes in silence, and after a few more seconds, the aura coming from Asia fade as nothing is left. Sayomi set her right arm down to her knee, staring firmly at the young girl. "Can you open your eyes?" Nawin finds himself gulping, anxiously waiting to see those innocent emerald orbs again.
Asia takes a step back then turns around with wobbly feet. She suddenly stumbles. Nawin instantly moves and is ready to catch her, but he freezes when his eyes come in contact with those green orbs. Asia's eyes are wide open and staring directly at him. Those beautiful and shining emerald color eyes looking pure and innocent as he remembered. "A-Asia," Nawin stutters in disbelief, his eyes turning glossy. Tears drip down the Blonde's eyes as she musters up a big smile. Her trembling arms slowly lift up to cup Nawin's cheeks. "Onii-chan," she whispers, her smile widens, "I-I can see you." A single teardrop falls from Nawin's eyes as his lip converts to a smile that's as big as his sister's. "It's wonderful to see those beautiful eyes of yours again, Asia," he whispers.
"You loo-" Asia's word are cut short when she suddenly collapses forward. Nawin immediately catches the falling Blonde then pulls her close to his chest. "Asia!" "Calm down, my dear," Sayomi inserts, raising to her feet "Her body is drained. Lifting such a complex curse will strain one's body. With sufficient sleep, she'll be better" "... I see."
Sayomi watch Nawin holds Asia firmly in his arms, staring down at her face with a warm expression. "You hate me?" Those words cause Makasha to snap upwards, staring at the Pureblood with some shock. "What?" "I said, do you hate me?" "..." Nawin moves back to look at Asia "I can't forget or forgive you for what you did to her. No matter what the reason. Seeing her again today with those eyes closed, seeing how afraid you made her... It fueled me with rage."
Remaining stoic, Sayomi crosses her arms over her chest. "Good. You shouldn't blindly give me a pass on my actions. I would resent that." Nawin didn't say another word and slowly stands up, carrying Asia bridal style. "Even so," Nawin looks down at his beloved sister. "Thank you for doing this, Sayomi" "No problem." The Pureblood gaze at the Blonde "She's a good girl. I always planned on returning her sight after you discovered your past. In truth... I started feeling guilty when I got to know her better as Miraya." "Why you picked Asia?" Nawin finds himself asking, "Because it was either her or Lucy... I picked the one that's easiest for me." "You were willing to have done this to Lucy?!" "It would be difficult, but if it is to get you stronger? Yes."
Nawin grits his teeth and looks to the side. He doesn't know what to respond when knowing Sayomi did all of this for his sake. "I have to take Asia home now. I'll meet you back in Gray Lotus." With that said, Nawin disappears in a black flash.
Now alone, Sayomi takes in a deep breath and exhales. Staring up at the orange sky. "I'll have to leave him soon..." Sayomi whispers softly to herself, then looks down to her right hand that's firmly holding the glistering ruby brooch.
Makasha Household
When appearing in Asia's room, Nawin promptly hides his mana signature. He didn't want either his parents or Akeno to be barging through the door the moment they sensed him. Though, when he finally checks the area, Makasha noticed that the only people in the house currently are Lucy and Akeno. Both presently in their respective room.
Turning around, Nawin gently sets his sleeping sister on the bed. Pulling a chair from the desk over, he takes a moment to sit beside the bed. Lifting his right hand, Makasha slide the locks that are resting over Asia's face to the side. Seeing his sister so in peace in her slumber brings a warm smile on Nawin's face. He leans over to plant a soft kiss to the girl's forehead before rising up to his feet.
Setting the chair back to its place. Nawin grabs a pencil and a piece of paper laid on the desk. He takes a moment to write a brief but clear message. 'Don't worry. She's safe and will be even better when she is awake. Take care of her...' Nawin reads what he's written. There isn't anything else he wanted to add. Everything that he wants to discuss with his parents should be done in person. Placing the pencil next to the letter, Nawin glances once more to his sleeping sister.
Feeling content with everything here, Nawin was ready to leave when something stops him. Makasha slowly moves his head to the right wall. The direction where his bedroom is at. He was not far from her as Asia's room is right next to his. Walking forward and stopping in front of the wall, Nawin stares at the white surface. He feels it. Feeling that violet eyes through the wall looking at him.
In the other room, Akeno stands there. Her once smooth hair is now messy and unkempt. Her nude form wrapped around the bed's blanket. She stares at the wall with her slightly reddish eyes. She can sense that familiar gaze. But is it real, or is it just her imagination? She simply can't tell anymore. "Nawin-kun?" she whispers in a dry tone, lifting her right hand up and touch the wall.
Nawin finds his right palm set on the wall. His brown eyes are gazing straight ahead. For a moment, a heavy silence fell as the former couple stands there. Even though they can't see each other. While Nawin knew Akeno is right behind that wall. Akeno does not and can only hope that Nawin is there. With eyes filled with sadness, Makasha places his forehead on the wall and whisper, "I'm sorry." Akeno's eyes begin to turn glossy as fresh tears start to fall once again. Pushing himself off the wall, Nawin disappears in a black flash.
Gray Lotus
When returning to Gray Lotus, Nawin finds Sayomi setting freshly bought ingredients down on the kitchen table. Considering this is their last dinner, she proposed they cook together once again like yesterday. Not objecting to the idea at all, Nawin was all on board and got started on helping his lover. Even though he knows what's to come, even though he holds resentment towards Sayomi for some of her past actions. He refuses to allow that to clouds his mind and ruin the last day he'll have with her. Especially when he doesn't know when the two of them will see each other again. Although, judging by how silent Sayomi has been on the matter, he knows it'll be for a long time.
As the sun dips behind the horizon and night begins to settle, Nawin and Sayomi continue to enjoy each other's company to the fullest. Talking and laughing as they prepare their dinner together. Not once was there empty silence between the couple. They did not waste even a second of the time with each other.
"You told the reception that you were checking out tonight?" Nawin asks, glancing to the right. "Yeah," Sayomi chuckles. "Don't worry. I already notify them in advance earlier today. Honestly, I'm gonna miss Gray Lotus" "Really?" "Mhm-hmm. I did stay there for a decent length, and let's not forget we had our first there." Nawin blinks before cracking a smile, "Yeah, that is true. Guess it'll hold some sentimental memory." "Including with how much we were going at in that room, I say it'll be a ve-" "Sayomi," Nawin cuts in with a sharp tone. The Pureblood lets out a giggle before wearing a teasing smirk, "Alright, alright."
After they left Gray Lotus, the couple sets for Shinko Park one more time. To the place where they first met on that faithful night. "... Trying to make this goodbye even harder, huh?" Nawin speaks in a light-hearted manner. However, Sayomi was not oblivious to the sadness lingering in his tone. "I want to be here with you one more time..." The Pureblood leaves Nawin's side and walks deeper into the park until she can locate the dense forest area of the park. Makasha quietly stands behind. "In there is where I found you that night," Sayomi comments with a gentle smile. "Hard to imagine saving a single life could change so much for the other."
"Why did you save me?" Nawin asks, "With what the humans have done to your race, I would have assumed there'd be some hesitation." "There was," Sayomi softly admits, "But when I caught sight of your terrified face... My body moved, and I took action." The chilling night wind swirls around the couple as the leaves laid the ground lift from the air. Nawin stares at the back of Sayomi with many emotions. "I don't want you to leave..." he whispers out.
"You said those exact words when I gave you this." Without looking back, Sayomi tosses an object to Makasha, who swiftly catches it with his right hand. Opening the palm, Nawin's breathing hitch as his eyes shot wide by the brooch before him. "T-this?" Nawin chokes out, firmly holding the ruby with both hands now. Makasha quietly sniffs as tears begin gathering around his glossy eyes. A shard of memory resurfaces of the time he got this beautiful jewelry.
Flashback
"Have you had your fill, my dear?" Sayomi asks as she looks down at the young boy beside her. Nawin takes another bite of the chicken satay held in his free hand before giving a bright grin, nodding to reply as he is busy with chewing. "Ahaha, alright. Let's start heading back then. The market is starting to get too crowded now. I don't want to run the risk of losing you in here."
Wanting to do something different for dinner, Sayomi decided to take Nawin to an evening market that recently opened in the Center of Kuoh. It is more upmarket compared to other markets. With numerous shopping stands that sell a variety of high-quality products. An array of delicious food stands and restaurants is spread throughout the bustling backstreet. Guaranteed there's something here for everyone; therefore, Sayomi is not surprised to see the place is starting to pick up with more shoppers.
Holding on Sayomi's hand firmly like he is instructed, Nawin innocently peers around at all the shopping stands they pass by. He takes the last bite of the chicken and chews it. "Sayomi I'm done with this" "Alright. Hand it over to me, my dear" The Pureblood takes the sharp stick and skillfully toss it to a trash bin on the right "Don't want you to hurt yourself with that."
Continuing their way through the market, a particular shop catches Nawin's curious eyes. Sayomi halts when feeling a tug then glance back to notice the young boy has stopped on his track. "My dear?" Not getting a response, the Pureblood panic when Nawin suddenly let go of her hand and rush off. "Nawin!" Sayomi gives chase, pushing pass people while keeping her gaze set at the bright green shirt that the brown-eyed boy is wearing.
Luckily the chase was short when Nawin stops in front of a brightly lit store. Sayomi slows down and stops beside the boy. She follows his gaze to lay eyes with a Ruby Gemstone that's set on the counter. There are other more different colors of stones on display, but Makasha's brown eyes solely focus on the ruby color. The lights from the top hit the gemstone, causing it to shimmer.
"It is the same shade as your eyes... So pretty," the ten-year-old whispers, unaware that the eyes he complimented are looking at him with great sadness. Kneeling down to the boy's height, Sayomi wears a loving smile, "Do you want it?" "Can I?" Nawin looks over. "Of course, my dear. I'll get you anything you want."
When the store owner emerged from the curtains, Sayomi did not waste time and requested purchase for the gemstone. After Nawin has the item in his hand, both departed from the market. Currently, they are on the bus that's driving out of the Center Town. Seating at the back, away from the few passengers onboard, Sayomi glances to the right, and her lip twist to a smile when seeing Nawin grinning adorably at the stone in his hands.
The Pureblood turns to the window and mindlessly stare at the passing streetlights. "... Uh!" A sudden pain shot to her heart that causes Sayomi to bite her tongue to stop a grunt that threatens to escape. Her eyes shake while her lip twitches from discomfort, though she composes herself before Nawin could take notice. 'I need to go on a hunt soon to sooth the pain...'
"Sayomi!" Taking a deep breath, the Pureblood turns over and softly smiles, "Yes, my dear?" "Here!" Nawin beams and thrust both arms forward to show the ruby gemstone. Blinking in confusion, Sayomi tilts her head "What about this?" she asks, picking up the stone with the right hand. "It's for you!" "P-pardon?" "Ehehe, I wanted you to have it since the beginning." Nawin's cheeks turn pink. "I thought it would be perfect for you as it matches your eyes."
A burst of happiness swells in the Pureblood's heart. The subtle pain that was there is now numb by the thoughtful gift from the boy she loves so dearly. Sayomi firmly holds the ruby while the smile on her face brightens. "Thank you, my dear. I'll forever cherish it."
Then, almost a year later, Nawin stood by the hallway as he watches Sayomi turns around to face him. Her blood-red eyes show great sadness in them. Yao and Jonathan stood behind their son, staying quiet while a look of confliction is plastered on their face. "Y-you have to leave?!" Nawin shouts in confusion. "For how long?" he pushes as tears start gathering around his reflecting eyes. "For a while, my dear" "No! I don't want you to go, Sayomi!" In haste, Nawin bolts forward and grabs the coat that the Pureblood is wearing, shaking it.
Seeing the hopeless boy in such a state makes Sayomi's heart ache in horrible pain. Her eyes are burning by the tears threatening to pour out, but she remains strong and kneels to his level. "I have to go..." she whispers in a gentle tone, but Nawin didn't falter and shakes his head, openly crying now. "Y-you can't! I need you, Sayomi! I need you with me!" "There's nothing more in life I want then to be by your side, my dear. You are the best thing to have ever happened to me." "T-then, why are you leaving?! I DON'T WANT YOU TO LEAVE!" "... I have to for you, my dear. You'll understand one day."
As Nawin continues to cry and tries to wipe the tears, Sayomi unclips the brooch on her shirt and holds it in front of the child. She musters up a warm smile. "Here, my dear. Hold onto this until I get back, ok?" Nawin hiccups and opens his eyes to look at the glistering ruby. An emotion of anger surge in his body for a moment, and Nawin takes the gem to his hand then throws it back to Sayomi. "NO! YOU KEEP IT! DON'T GIVE ME THAT BECAUSE THAT MEANS YOU ARE NEVER COMING BACK!" Nawin screams at the stunned Pureblood before spinning around and rushes off to Yao, hugging her tightly and sobs more.
The Mother kneels down to hug her son, stroking his back in comfort. She shifts up to see Sayomi staring at the brooch laid on the carpet, the front bangs hovering above her eyes to conceal them. Picking up the gem with shaken hand, Sayomi raises up to her feet then finally looks at Nawin. Tears streams down the blood-red eyes as her expression shows nothing but sorrow. "Goodbye, my dear."
Present
"I-I'm sorry..." Nawin looks up at the Pureblood. "I'm sorry for what I did that day. The moment you walked out t-that door, I felt guilty!" "You don't need to apologize, my dear." Sayomi turns around with a warm smile plastered on her face. "I hold no anger towards that action" "No!" Nawin shakes his head, dropping to his knees in pure emotion "I-I threw it back at you... I-I should have taken it. T-that day... I remember it was just one month before Miraya's death. Yo-" "Yes," Sayomi kneels in front of Makasha, grasping his hand that's holding the brooch. "I left to become Miraya and intended to stay as her in hopes that I would recover while being concealed as a normal human to keep potential danger away from you. Shifting forms was taxing my already weakening body... That's why I left."
Nawin sniffs and leans forward to press forehead with Sayomi. "Even though you left that day... You never really left my side, Sayomi" "There isn't any illness in existence that'll stop me from being with you, my dear." For a moment, the couple remains in position before finally pulling apart. "Don't regret what you did that day, Nawin," Sayomi states, bringing the other hand up to wipe away the tears. "You were merely a child..." Nawin looks down at the brooch before nodding. "I always felt guilty doing that until my memories were suppressed" "Then take care of it for me now."
"What?!" Nawin looks up in shock. "I want you to hold it on for me," Sayomi reply "Until it is time for me to take it back and wear it without worry." Holding firmly onto the gem, Nawin frowns, "I won't see you again for a long time, right?" "Yes. Something big will happen in the near future, my dear. A conflict. You felt it too, haven't you?" Sayomi looks up to the sky, "The Akumi. Khaos Brigade. The Old Satans. They all have big plans that'll cause instability to the Supernatural World, which means they will bring danger to you too, my dear. I plan to stop all of that from happening. And if I have to be away from you for a long period of time to protect you, then that's the price I'm willing to pay."
Nawin remains on his knees as Sayomi raises up to her feet. "I don't want you to leave, but I won't stop you." Slowly rising to his feet, Nawin looks up with a weak smile. "Anyway, it's not like I can stop you." "You still have a far way to go until you can stop me, my dear," Sayomi tease before giving an affectionate flick to the forehead. "... Hand it here," Nawin blinks but passes the brooch over to the Pureblood. Taking a step forward, Sayomi clips the gemstone on the left side of the shirt, where most pockets would be on. "There," she beams, "Right where I like to wear it. With pride and on display."
The night wind howls through the empty park. With some hesitation, Sayomi finally releases Nawin and takes a few steps back. "It's time, my dear." "Before you leave, can I have your right hand for a moment?" Sayomi tilts her head but goes along with the request, stretching her arm out for Nawin to grab hold of her hand. "I only give these to specific people." Summoning the black ring with a red gem, precisely like his, Nawin slid it into the index finger, which is where he wears his. "When the time comes... I want to put that ring here," Nawin whispers and brushes on the ring finger.
Stepping forward, Sayomi launch forward and plant a kiss to Nawin. Gradually, her body begins withering away into bats. Pulling away, Sayomi wears a loving smile then brings both hands up to cup Makasha's cheeks. "I can't wait for that day either, my dear. Please stay safe. Please get stronger. I love you so much... Goodbye." With those last words, Sayomi's body disperses into a flock of bats that flies to the air, disappearing into the portal that ripped in the sky.
Nawin watches the portal shuts from existence with a weak smile, his right hand holding the brooch. "Goodbye, Sayomi."
Dasuma
A knock on the front door wakes Akame up from her bed in an alert. Throwing the blanket to the side, she strides toward the living room in her simple black nightgown. The second knock issues and the Knight's eyes slowly narrow in caution. Stopping right at the front door, Akame can't sense anything from the other side. With one hand on the doorknob and the other silently summoning the Black Thunder, Akame twist the knob and takes a step back.
"Uh!" The Knight freeze in place when setting eyes on Nawin by the doorway. Worse, his rough shape instantly makes her drop the sword and rush over. "Nawin-kun," Akame whispers, taking one of his hand into hers when seeing that blank expression in his face. His brown eyes filled with sorrow and regret. He finally looks up and offers a weak smile. "If it isn't too much trouble... Can I stay for the night, Akame?" "... Of course."
Stepping to the side to allow Makasha in, Akame releases his hand to go close the door. Before she entirely shuts it, though, she surveys the area to see if anyone was following. Luckily there's nothing unusual, and Akame shuts the door.
Unaware to both the King and Knight, a petite individual hover in the air right above the apartment. Tilting her head, Ophis smirk with pleased at what she just saw. "You made this far too easy for me, Sayomi Dracul."
