Thank you for remaining patient for this chapter, everyone!

I hope all of you are well and safe!

Lately, many things have happened to me that's kept me occupied. Furthermore, this chapter has gone through a number of rewrites as I found ways to improve it. Shockingly this is somehow longer than the last chapter though not by a large margin.

Anyway! Without further ado, enjoy the latest chapter!

In the empty and spacious, vibrant grass field, Nawin and Issei stand across one another, their gaze firmly settles on each other's faces before their lips slowly tug upward to form a smile. "So one of the first things I do after coming out of hiatus is to spar with you, Issei" "Ehehe." A sheepish chuckle leaves Hyoudou's mouth. "I just couldn't resist asking you, Nawin!" A big and exciting grin appears on his face. "While you were on break, I have been training non-stop! I want to see how I fair against you now in some old fashion hand-to-hand fight!" "Well," Nawin tilts his head to the side, right-hand rest on the hip "Close-combat is an area you were certainly weak on from the beginning. Prior to Kokoro and Hunter start teaching you, you were merely a reckless brawler."

"I have improved drastically!" Issei loudly proclaims, then points an index finger forward. "I will land at least three solid punch on you, Nawin!" "Bold claim there," Makasha's brow lifts in amusement. "In our previous spar, you only manage to land one." "Urgh!" Issei backs away for a moment by that reminder. However, he quickly shakes his head and regains confidence. "Doesn't matter! I am way more experience now!" Nawin simply let out a chuckle at his friend's childish behavior.

Closing his eyes for a moment, Nawin starts formulating a way to get Issei more motivated. It has been well over a month since their last sparring session due to his decision to go on hiatus after returning from Transmere. He has no doubt Issei has improved in quite a noticeable margin. But he also knows his friend will hold back because of his considerate nature. 'No doubt, Issei will hold some concern for me because of my hiatus. Probably think I have gone a bit rusty... Which isn't false.' Nawin opens his eyes to look at his grinning friend, 'Though I still want to see just how much he really has changed.'

"... Let's do this," Nawin releases his hip to bring the right arm up front and lifts three fingers. "If you can land all Three successful hits on me, then I will go with you to your favorite manga store." Issei lets out sharp gasps, his eyes sufficiently widen. "Y-you don't mean?" "Yep," Nawin smirk "I'll even allow you to drag me to the sixth floor where they sell all those explicit doujin." "... OH, HELL YEAH!" Issei's eyes light up like fire "I'm so going to beat you now! Just you wait when we get there, Nawin!" A devilish giggle leaves Hyoudou's lip as his expression turns perverted. "I'm so gonna take a picture of you in that store and show it to everyone! You will also have to buy one doujinshi in there!"

'That worked,' Nawin lifts a brow in amusement before giving a dismissive wave "Yeah, yeah. Don't get ahead of yourself just yet, Issei. You still have ways to go until you beat me in hand-to-hand combat." "That may be true!" Issei drops to his stance and smirk, "But landing three hits is easy!" Nawin can't help but sweatdrop. 'He already has forgotten that he only managed to land one solid blow in our last spar.'

Bouncing on his feet a few times, Issei spread a wide grin before breaking into a dash. Extending his right arm all the way back, Issei swings it forward with full force. Securing his feet firmly on the earth, Nawin lifts his right hand ahead and catch the incoming fist. A rumble erupts around the area as the ground beneath the pair cracks and shatter.

For a moment, the two friends share a smirk. Pulling back his arm, Issei swings a right kick, which misses by Nawin jumping back. Not giving him the chance to recover, Issei kicks his feet off the ground and rushes ahead for another strike. With a fist coming toward him, Nawin leans his upper body back to avoid it. In his eyes, Makasha watch as Issei slowly hovers over him. Clenching his right hand into a fist, he swings it upward and delivers a punch square on Issei's stomach before casually rolling to the side and jumping to his feet.

Issei drops to the ground by his body, freezing momentarily. The blow successfully knocks all the wind out of his lungs. Nawin silently watches his friend hastily breathing in the air before slowly returning to his feet. "That all?" The simple response gets a glare from Issei, and he charges ahead once more. Stopping in front, Issei delivers two quick combos of right and left hook aim for Nawin's head; however, he easily discards all of them by pushing the arms away before countering with a right backhand to the face that knocks Issei back by a few steps. Nawin frowns when seeing his friend stop on one foot then make a spin, leaving his back entire expose. 'The wrong move,' Nawin notes in disappointment then launch forward, intending to make use of this opening.

However, what Nawin fails to notice is Issei extending his right arm out while the hand clench tightly into a fist. With a confident smirk. Issei twists his body at a faster speed to face forward and swings a broad right hook that smashes perfectly onto the side of Nawin's face. A loud smack sound erupts as Makasha gets send hurling away by the wicked blow. Issei watches his friend crash onto the ground and rolls about before gaining balance and flip himself up to his feet.

A big smile spread across Hyoudou's face when witnessing that stun expression on his friend's slightly bruised face. "Whatcha think of that, Nawin?!" Issei exclaims and pumps his right fist forward, "Knock that pretty face of yours!" Bringing his left hand to the side of his neck, Nawin cocks his head to the left, creating an audible pop. "Not bad... However," Nawin's release his neck, eyes sharpening. "Let's see you go for the second hit, Issei."

Even though his expression is stern and serious, inside, Nawin is smiling at Issei's sneaky attack. He can distinctly recollect when during their last spar at how often Issei would leave his back open for an attack. 'Seems he is more aware of his surroundings.'

Deciding to kick things up a notch, Nawin thrusts his right feet off the ground to shoot ahead. Going on the full offensive. "Eek!" Going into a panic moment by his friend suddenly launching for him. In instinct, Issei duck to avoid the blazing right hook aim for his head. However, going down sets him to get a knee to the chin. Hyoudou did not fail to notice his friend is now on another level in terms of reaction time. Issei's entire body cock upward by the blow, and he winces heavily in pain before a downward fist to the face sends him crashing onto the ground.

As he lays on the grass, Nawin steps forward but pauses when noticing Issei's legs twitching. He quickly hops back to avoid being kick as Hyoudou brings his legs up and twirls them around before getting back up to his feet. Still showing full confidence, Issei breaks off into a sprint and disappears. Nawin leans to the right and slips pass a punch aim for the chest. Issei appears in existence and extends his right arm out to bring it sideways for a clothesline, but Nawin brings his own arm up and locks it around Issei's to stop the motion. Standing to his feet, Nawin brings his left arm up and snatch Issei's neck with an iron grip. Releasing the right arm, Nawin lifts Issei off the ground before turning around and slams him down in a whiplashing speed.

When the dust clear, Nawin is shock to see nothing inside the crater. 'Substitution!' In instinct, he sidesteps to narrowly avoid a fist blasting from behind. In a quick reaction, Nawin slams his left leg down while lifting his right leg, rotating his body around to perform a spin kick that connects perfectly to Issei's back. Stumbling forward by the strike and momentum, Issei manages to regain his ground and turns around only to get an upward kick to the chin that sends him to air by a few feet. Standing straight, Nawin rushes forward, and as Issei is coming down at the correct height, he delivers a right thrust kick in the stomach to send his friend hurling away.

Letting out a loud grunt by the stiff blow to his abdomen, Issei crash back-first onto the ground a few meters away. Shakily opening his eyes; it widens when seeing Nawin coming down with the right knee aiming for the head. Issei frantically rolls away then pushes his left hand down to bounce himself to a safe distance. Glancing up, he sees Nawin utterly destroys the ground with that strike. It would have been over for him if he didn't manage to escape.

Dropping to his knee in pain and exhaustion, Issei gulps for air before looking ahead, seeing Nawin emerging from the smoke. He finds himself inwardly gritting his teeth when noticing those dark-brown eyes gazing at him with blankness. That look sets anger in Issei's heart. Anger that is directing straight at himself. 'Is this really all I've got?' In frustration, Issei slams his right fist down on the ground, burying into it.

Sincerely, deep down in him, Issei wants to see those eyes looking at him with pride. After working tirelessly in completing contracts and training daily in the past month, he wants Nawin to fully acknowledge his growth.

However, the doubt slowly vanishes as quickly as it appears. Issei pushes himself up and glares ahead with fire in his eyes. Nawin openly smirks then gives a simple gesture with his right hand that signals Issei to bring it. 'I'll land that next hit for sure!' Hyoudou breaks out in a sprint. When in range, he jumps over Nawin in a surprising move. When his feet touch the ground, Issei tries to go for his friend's footing with a low leg swipe, but Nawin senses it and hops over the strike. Not done, Issei stretches his left hand out to seize Nawin by the shoulder. Turning around, Issei lets out a roar and pulls to slam Makasha back-first to the ground.

Daze and shock by that transition, Nawin blinks to get his bearings. He feels the tight hold on his shoulder is release and looks up to see Issei bringing a right hand down toward his face. At the last moment, Nawin shifts his head to the left and narrowly avoids the strike. Grunting in annoyance, Issei tries to pull his arm back but does not get the chance when Nawin kicks him on the shin, knocking him down to the ground.

The two friends begin rolling and wrestling around the grass field as one tries to get the upper hand on the other. Pushing his forearm down on Nawin's neck to pin him, Issei manages to get on top. Clenching his left hand into a fist and lifting it up, Issei tries to bring it down, but Nawin fires a quick right hook that connects to the side of his forehead. "Urgh!" Issei groans out in pain as his vision goes blur, but he still maintains a stronghold on Nawin's neck, forcing him to remain on the ground. For a moment, the simple spar between the two close friends changes into a battle.

"Damn it!" Issei shouts in frustration and tightly grabs onto the collar of Nawin's shirt with both hands. Pulling his arms and swinging his head forward, Issei gives a brutal headbutt to Makasha's forehead. A wincing and vicious sound of a crack boom around the field.

A few soundless seconds pass by as Issei and Nawin remain in place, their hazy eyes stare at one another. Soon, Hyoudou's grip on the collar loosens by the numb feeling in his arms. He leans backward and falls off Makasha, who also collapses down on his end.

As he lays still on the ground to focus on breathing, Nawin can hear Issei getting up to his feet, which surprises him. After that wicked headbutt, he should be down for the count. 'That idiot got some thick skull.' Nawin finally opens his eyes to see Issei standing above him. "Ehehehe," Issei chuckles and lifts his right hand up. "Now for the third hit!" he exclaims and comes down with a swing. However, due to no doubt fuzzy vision and exhaustion, Nawin notices how sloppy his friend's movement is and takes advantage. Watching the fist flies down, Nawin shifts to the right at the precise moment and grabs the incoming arm with both hands. Losing his footing, Issei falls face-first onto the ground while Nawin drops above him, holding his arm in a submissive lock. "Give up?" Makasha sharply mutters, clutching tightly on the wrist before hyperextending the arm by pulling it up.

"Urgh-gah!" Hyoudou is unable to suppress the groan of pain from leaving his lip. He can feel his arm slowly ripping away from its socket. He openly grits his teeth and tries to free himself by thrashing his legs around, but it proves effortless. His other arm is unusable as it is pin underneath him. With no way to escape and the pain too much, Issei finally opens his mouth. "I give up..." Hearing those words, Nawin immediately releases the arm and lean off.

Dropping his arms behind to keep himself up, Nawin look across and see Issei slowly leaning forth to sit straight. "Ow," "Sorry about that." Makasha offers an apologetic smile "I was rough there" "It's fine," Issei holds the sore shoulder and looks over with a sheepish grin "I was actually the one that went overboard with the stiff headbutt... Sorry about that. I just-" A look of guilt overlaps his face "I wanted to do better than the last time we spar and show you how much I've improved. Though," Issei's downcast eyes shift to his numb right arm, "I guess I still have ways to go..."

"Hey." Issei looks up in surprise when a hand falls on his head. He views that warm smile on Nawin's face. "Don't beat yourself down, Issei. You did very well. Hell, you made me sweat for the first time." Blinking in confusion, Issei examines his friend's face and notice it is indeed wet from sweat.

Bringing his hand down and flicking Issei on the forehead, earning a stinging yelp. No doubt, the headbutt left that area sensitive. Nawin cracks a satisfying smirk as he brings his arm back. "You have grown immensely, Issei. You had me on my back a few times there. If we were to go all out with everything we have... I say you would've given me a real tough time."

Those sincere words strike deep into Hyoudou's heart, and something else also makes him feel this burst of joy. Those brown eyes from Nawin no longer hold stoic but instead pride. Issei's lip quivers for a moment before it spread wide into a bashful grin. "Ehehe," he lets out an embarrassing laugh, not knowing how to react to that compliment.

Nawin soundlessly tilts his head and softly smile. He knows how much those words meant to Issei, especially when it comes from his mouth. 'Keep getting stronger, Issei.'

"Now," Nawin causally utters and pushes himself up to his feet. "Let's head to that manga store" "Wait!" Issei looks up with excitement sparkling in his eyes, "Y-you mean we wi-," "No," Nawin swiftly interrupts with deadpan eyes. "You lost, remember? We will only be going there to fetch some latest volumes." "Aww!" Issei lets out a childish pout which has the Makasha chuckling.

"Come on." Issei blinks and looks up to see Nawin offering a hand. "There's always next time. I'm sure you'll be even better by the time our next duel rolls around." A bright grin spread across Hyoudou's face by those words. He gives a sharp nod and takes Nawin's hand, holding it firmly. "Next time, I'll be giving you a real hard time, Nawin!" "Huh," Makasha cracks a smirk. "I hope so because I won't hold back," "Ehehe."

Slowly uncovering his eyes, Issei blankly stares up at the white ceiling of his room. Bringing his right arm up and shifting sight at the unclose hand. The very hand that accepted Nawin's gesture that day. Abruptly, a bright crimson light shines on the ceiling, and Issei directs his palm around to see the Gremory's symbol radiating. With conflictive eyes, he drops the arm down on the bed and continues to aimlessly stare at the white surface above.

'... Partner,' Ddraig's deep voice enters the Hyoudou's mind 'Take the contract... Moping around isn't doing you any good.' Issei persists in remaining silent. 'You aren't a person to leave someone in help hanging, Partner. Get up!' "... I get it." With a dull sigh, Issei slowly raises up from the cold bed. Ever since he completed his morning workout and finished his breakfast, Hyoudou hit the shower before returning to bed with nothing else to do in mind. "Beats being here anyway." With nothing else left to say, Issei summons the teleportation and vanish in crimson light.

Golden Haven

"Urghh." A low groan leaves the pink lip of Irina Shidou. The bedsheets move ever slightly as her body comes to life, her eyes slightly flutter. With a soft yawn escaping her mouth, Irina fully opens her eyes and blinks to clear away the morning blurriness. She winces when the ray of sunlight hits her face; it seeps through the slightly ajar curtains. Shifting her head away from the curtains, Irina sets her hands on the bed and slowly pushes herself up. She winces again at the feeling of soreness coming from the pelvis area.

However, that pain quickly reminds her of the event that transpired last night. Irina's face brightens, and she turns to the right with a grin. "Nawin-ku-," Those words halt the moment Shidou notices the empty space next to her. "Oh..." A look of realization cross Irina's face. 'You have to go...' 'I have to go.' A sad smile form on her face as those words resurface in her head. "You are now walking down your chosen path, Nawin-kun."

Irina averts her eyes forward, but she stops when seeing something sitting on the pillow that Nawin slept on. "A note?" Irina reaches over and grabs the neatly folded paper. Slowly unfolding it, she notices Nawin's handwriting instantly on it. 'Hi, Irina. The reason I wrote this letter is to ease your mind of any worries. I want to let you know that what we did last night meant just as much to me as it did to you. I know I hesitated to say I love you, but it wasn't because I regret what we did, far from it. I did not want to say it because of guilt. Guilt that when I uttered those special words that mean so much to you to hear from me... I would have to leave you the next day. But I am glad I said it because even with how things are heading. I wanted you to know that I love you, Irina. No matter what, you will always hold a special place in my heart. My days can never be dull whenever I am with you. I thank you for making our date be so fun and special for me. Even when I felt like I was at my worst, you were able to pull me up and help me. I will never forget that. You will make a fine Seraph one day. Irina, even with our separate path, please know that I will always be thinking of you. I love you...'

"N-Nawin-kun." Multiple droplets fall on the letter as Irina openly weeps in both sadness and happiness. She brings the letter to her chest and musters up a smile through the tears. "T-thank you, Nawin-kun. I love you too."

Vesarima

Feeling the chilling and loud wind blowing pass him, Nawin maintains his gaze firmly on the peaceful Capital. For a moment, he takes in the small scenes that catch his attention. A group of children is running around while holding toy swords that is a replica to the Twisted Etcher, Makasha's once main sword. Teens are having fun by reacting to his matches from the tournaments. Dolls of him can be seen selling in shops or being held in kids' hands. Seeing those scenes brings a smile to Nawin's face, though not because of how heavily he is being advertised, instead it is from seeing how much of a positive impact he has made for the young generation. He never cares for fame and honestly hates it sometimes at how Vesarima views him as this great hero. All those accomplishments under his belt are there because it needed to be done, or he was doing it to protect his loved ones.

However, one thing Nawin is glad about with all this fame he garners from his achievements is that it brings joy to the kids. They look up to him, and no doubt, some strive to be like him. Even adults use him as a source of motivation because of his incredible accomplishments. "I won't lie..." Nawin whisper to himself in sadness, "Turning my back on them will hurt." Those bright smiles on the children's faces will shatter the moment his action gets heard across the supernatural world. They will learn that their hero has become a traitor. The Black Flash of Vesarima has gone rogue.

Taking a deep breath then exhales, Nawin looks up to the bright morning sun on the horizon. Unlike the human world being bright orange, the underworld's is a shade of fiery red. Closing his eyes and bringing his right hand up to grasp the red broadsword necklace that's hanging outside of the gray shirt, Nawin begins pouring mana into it. For a moment, he waits until feeling a connection is made from the other end. '... Nawin?' Makasha smile at hearing that familiar strong voice 'Yeah, Erza. It's me.' 'Good to hear from you! Whoa!' Nawin blinks at the sudden shout. 'You ok?' 'I'm great. Just dealing with some minotaurs right now. Took a job to get rid of a group of them!' Nawin hears Erza let out a strong roar to no doubt swing her sword in retaliate, 'I see. Sorry to contact you at such a bad time but I want to meet up with you and Jellal... It's urgent.' 'That so? Alright. Both of us are in a dungeon just outside of Shiva.' 'Shiva...' Nawin repeat, remembering the Four Great Village that is ruled under the Satans. Shiva being Sirzech Lucifer's village. 'Got it. Shiva is not too far from Vesarima. I will meet you there' 'Sounds good. Can't wait to see yah.' With that said, Erza cuts the connection.

Opening his eyes, Nawin slides his right foot to the side and is ready to turn around until something from the corner of his eyes catch his attention. "... That's." Nawin stares at the unmistakable bat scouring over the North Gate, entering the Capital. "Rias." He whispers the name of his dear friend with a stoic voice, gazing at her familiar. Even though his tone is devoid of emotions, those red eyes display sadness. 'So, you are looking for me.'

Turning around, Makasha wanders into the dense wood, away from prying eyes and into the shadows, not giving the familiar a chance to notice him. "I'm sorry, Rias."

Kuoh

"Thank you very much! Enjoy the food." Akame nods at the kind waiter before taking the bag containing her breakfast from his hand. Exiting the small Tonkatsu restaurant, the Knight's next destination is her apartment. Walking by herself across the moderately busy street in silence, Akame begins to recall what Nawin said to her earlier this morning. 'Akame... We'll be departing from Vesarima tonight.' 'This early?' 'Yes, Ophis is done waiting. We will be meeting up with Kuroka at a place called Land of Ends. It's quite the distance, so we will be flying there' 'Understood. May I ask where you are, Nawin-kun?' 'Underworld. I plan to recruit more members into our group.' '... Are you sure, Nawin-kun?' 'No need to worry, Akame. These two individuals I trust and have known them for quite some time now. I want them to join us... If they agree to it, of course,' 'If you are confident with them, then I will too. Will you be picking us up?' 'Yes. You and I will go get Misako, then we will depart from Kuoh.'

One thing Akame notices in her conversation with Nawin is that of his tone. 'I didn't sense an ounce of hesitation from him. It seems like Nawin-kun has fully made up his mind on going to Ophis.' Akame looks ahead, spotting her apartment in the distance. 'I doubt anyone can change his mind now...'

Walking up the metal stairs to reach the second floor, Akame stirs around the corner and instantly comes to a halt by a familiar face coming in view. "Akame-chan." Senna leans off the railing by the front door, her face brightens when seeing the Knight. "Senna," Akame softly utters, not expecting a visit from the Princess. "Has something happened?" Akame stops by her friend, blinking in confusion by the question, "We were supposed to meet up again after Momo was resurrected," Senna continues. "Ah," Akame nods "That's correct. Sorry to have left you in silence for so long, Senna. Nawin-kun has been occupied. He's been very stressed lately... Truthfully, he shortly collapsed after you two left," "What?!" Senna takes a step forward; her expression turns frantic. "I-is he ok?!" "Yes, no need to worry. He is doing better now" "Oh, thank goodness."

Akame shifts to the right and unlocks the front door, pushing it open. "Come in, Senna. We can talk more inside," "Ok." Entering the hallway and taking her shoes off, Senna watches Akame head for the kitchen. "You can head to the living room. I'll be there in a moment," "Alright." Stepping into the main room, Bouganville makes herself comfortable on the main couch. Innocently, flailing her legs up and down, she listens to the noise from the kitchen. A few minutes past and Akame remerge into the living room with a tray of pork tonkatsu set. Senna giggles, "You must be hungry!" "Yeah," Akame answers with a faint smile and sets the tray down on the short table that rests at the center of the room. "Results of my routine training session in the morning." Not wanting to be disrespectful, Senna slides down from the couch and takes a seat on the floor, across from her friend.

Snapping the wooden chopstick apart, Akame digs into her breakfast in manner fashion. She remains calm as in her mind, she already knows where this conversation with Senna will lead to. Taking one of the pork slices into her mouth and chewing, Akame looks up at her friend. She quietly swallows, taking notes at the nervousness showing in those amber color eyes. "How's Momo?" "She's doing good," Senna smile when mentioning her dear sister "I actually have been teaching her how to effectively use mana. She's picking things up quite well and can perform some notice spells like Push." Akame raises an eyebrow in impress. "That's good to hear. Does she have a sacred gear in her?" "That I don't know," Senna shakes her head "I honestly can't even begin to conceive of a way to tell. I'm not well knowledge in that field" "I see."

Akame takes in some rice into her mouth and returns her gaze upwards. "I presume you want to meet with Nawin-kun to talk about Momo... More specifically, on what's her role correct?" "Yes," Senna slowly nods, a tense smile appears "I just want confirmation. I know what it means when Momo joins Nawin-kun's peerage, but I still worry for her safety. Now that I know Nawin-kun is such a well-known name in the supernatural world, it means he has many enemies, right?" "Yes... Strong ones" "I thought so," Senna grimace. "Before you asked, Akame-chan. No, I do not hold regrets about what Nawin-kun did for my sister. But I still am concern for her in becoming a target."

Akame remains silent for a moment as she continues to eat. Her eyes hold many thoughts. "Senna... You should be aware of Nawin-kun's intention when he used his Evil Piece to revive Momo. I didn't do it out of wanting to make her his member... He did it to save a friend. He did it for you. I believe I can say with confidence that Nawin holds no intention on having Momo walk down his path with him." "His path?" Senna repeats, leaning forward a bit, "What do you mean by that, Akame-chan?"

For a moment, the Knight goes quiet, chewing on the remaining rice in her mouth. Finally, she sets the chopsticks down and turns to Senna, solely focus on her. "You are one of his closest friends, so I believe it is right to tell you this. Nawin-kun is planning on leaving Vesarima to join up with Ophis... To put it bluntly, he's intending to go rogue." Senna's entire world freeze for a moment as she digests those words one by one. Shakily opening her mouth, Senna can only utter one word, "Rogue?" Akame's eyelids lower, that reply is understandable. It is hard to imagine someone like Nawin would walk down such a path. Akame nods "Yes. Misako and I are too going with him. He can't be alone on this path."

"W-wait!" Senna stands up, looking anxious and confused. "This is too much! Why is this happening? Why is Nawin-kun going rogue?!" "To gain the power to protect his loved ones." "Protect them from what?!" Senna retorts loudly, her composure is gone and replace with raw emotions. Akame remains calm while her replies retain its sharpness. "From Satan-level adversaries, Senna. Do not forget you only just open your eyes back into the supernatural world... You know nothing about Nawin-kun's other life and his struggles." Senna is left speechless by the response. Her legs give up, and she falls back onto the chair. Her eyes find themselves looking at the blue and black nylon bracelet worn on the right wrist. A bracelet she made for herself and Nawin that she gave to him on his birthday. Their friendship bracelet. "H-he's going to be gone," Senna whispers more to herself. "For how long?" she asks, looking at Akame. "Long time, Senna... Years."

Akame watch as Bouganville goes completely silent. Her eyes solely focus on the bracelet. "I-I..." Senna tries to find words, but nothing comes to her head. Her first friend, her best friend, is leaving her life. Akame finds herself gazing to the side in oppression, she can see how hard this news has hit Senna. "B-but," Bouganville finally looks up "Going rogue is dangerous for someone like him, right?! H-he will be at risk of being hunted down by mercenaries" "He is aware of all of that, Senna." Akame looks back at those amber orbs "Nawin-kun is set on walking down this path. He believes it to be the right one" "Going rogue is right?" "Don't judge an individual's path until you understand their pain, Senna." Those words stun Bouganville, and she shows guilt. "R-right. Sorry, Akame-chan" "No need to apologies."

Akame finds her eyes gazing at a photo set near the television. It shows herself and Misako standing on Nawin's sides. Akame wears her usual faint smile while Misako beams bright with that grin of hers. Nawin has his hands set on the girls' heads and bears a warm smile. The photo was taken by Hana, in celebration of Misako joining Makasha's peerage.

"Whether you like it or not, Senna." Akame returns to her face "It's Nawin-kun's choice. He has made up his mind. And Misako and I will be with him on this path." "How… How can you both not be afraid?" Senna whispers, her head hangs down as the front bangs overshadow the eyes. "Because what we are truly afraid of is losing Nawin-kun." Senna looks up with shock eyes. "That's why we are going with him. To watch his back and stir him away from the darkness."

Senna looks down and lets out a hollow chuckle, her smile further wanes. "I see," she whispers. "All of you are so strong. Instead of running away when a situation turns dire like me… You all simply push on with vigor." "Senna..." Akame mutters and watches her friend pushes the chair back to stand up. "I think I need some time to think about this." Bouganville muster up a stronger smile before passing by the Knight to head for the hallway. "... We are leaving tonight," Akame reveals, which causes Senna to halt. Glancing back, Akame continues, "If you want to see Nawin-kun one more time, then come here." With a faint nod in response, Senna disappears into the hallway.

Akame stares at her food that is still half untouched. She listens to the front door opening before it shuts. Grabbing the chopsticks, Akame returns to finishing her breakfast in silence.

Underworld

"So that's Shiva..." A sizable village greets Nawin's eyes as he hovers on the air just underneath the clouds. Like any other villages in the Underworld that is run by Devils. Shiva is an old-fashioned village made of wood and stones. A far cry from Fallen Angel's high-tech dystopia. "Looks a lot like a miniature version of Vesarima," Nawin thinks out loud, "I guess the other three villages are similar in a way."

Keeping his mana hidden and his appearance behind the clouds, Nawin closes his eyes and begins to focus. With the village of Shiva essentially being surrounded by dense forests, it is impossible to locate a cave without difficulty. Additionally, no doubt there is more than one hidden in the trees. Taking a deep breath and exhaling it, Nawin widens his senses and works to find either Erza's or Jella's mana. He has already taken into account of the pair's unique magic signatures during their last journey together.

"... There." Slowly opening his eyes, Nawin turns his head to the west. "No doubt that's Erza's mana." Leaning his body forward to the direction, Nawin flies off at moderate speed. It takes a couple of minute scouring before Makasha sees a large cave peeking out from the side of a brown hill that's right at the end of the forest.

Landing a few feet away from the dark entrance, Nawin looks up and takes note of the two corpses laid by the sides of the cave. "Those are fully grown..." Nawin examines the ten-feet tall bull-headed humanoid monsters lying on a puddle of their own blood. "Are they breeding in there?" Looking back to the entrance, Nawin decides to enter and take a step forward. However, he pauses when a sound of loud thudding coming from the cave. With narrow eyes, Nawin hops to the right, and not a moment later, a full-size minotaur burst out of the shadows in a hurry. Its furry bull-face expression shows fear as it is missing its entire right arm.

Nawin doesn't move and watch the monster continue to retreat with haste until a broad sword flies out of the cave and perfectly stabs it at the back of the head. The minotaur shakily stumbles for a few steps before collapsing face-first onto the earth with a loud thud.

"And that's the last one!" A loud voice boom from the cave which has Nawin smiling, he can never mistake that fierce feminine voice for anyone. Emerging from the shadows is Erza, noticeably covered in fresh blood. Her blue skirt and black boots are entirely draping in the thick wine-red liquid. Lifting her right arm up, Erza pulls her sword back from the lifeless corpse using telekinesis. Swiping the weapon down swiftly to get rid of the blood from the blade, Erza blinks when noticing something in the corner of her eyes. "Hmm?" she looks over to see Nawin leaning by a tree trunk. "Nawin!" Her expression brightens considerably.

Leaning off the tree, Makasha makes way to the Scarlet-haired Bounty Hunter. Sheathing the weapon away, Erza smile widely and spread her arms for a hug. "Loved to," Nawin eyes down. "But you are covered in blood" "So?" Erza's smile turns devious then she takes a step forward, causing Nawin to take one back. "Erza," he gives a warning look, "I just showered. One step closer and I'm teleporting you into a swarm."

"Ahahaha!" Erza rest hands on her hips and let out a hearty laugh, she grins brightly. "Good to see you again, Nawin. I miss that serious but endearing side of you." "It's good to see you too, Erza. Still busy as ever, I see," "After over a decade of doing this," she taps on the pummel of the broad sword "I and Jellal hold an established reputation. It's not uncommon for us to be personally requested by villages to handle tasked like this" "So Shiva hired you two for this?" "Yep," I see," Nawin nods. "Speaking of Jellal, where is he?" "Collecting the Minotaur's horns to show the contractor of our success," Erza points back at the cave "The more horns, the bigger the reward" "Make sense."

"So, what's going on in there exactly?" Nawin asks in curious, crossing his arms over his chest "Breeding," Erza turns around and eyes the two corpses by the entrance that was dealt with by Jellal. "A number of adventurous young women in Shiva got kidnapped by them when they were out doing activities like picking flowers or merely playing. Hence away from the walls and guards. That's how this case started, and Jellal and I were sent to investigate. They rather us, a professional Monster and Criminal Slayer, to handle it than simple soldiers." "Where are the girls?" "They are safe," Erza smiles "We arrive before things could turn to worse. Some guards came with us to act as an escort. Before dealing with all the Minotaurs, Jellal and I freed the girls and ushered them to leave the cave while we dealt with the monsters. Judging by the absence of the guards and the ground remaining untarnished, I say they are safely back in the village by now" "I see. That's good to hear."

"Well, well, well. I see a familiar face there," a calm and light-hearted voice comes from the cave. Stepping out of the shadows is none other than Jellal. He, too, like Erza, is cover in blood. His right-hand holds a large sack that no doubt carries the minotaur's horns.

"Jellal," Nawin gives the blue-haired man a warm smile as he stops in front, unlike Erza, he keeps a respectable distance due to his current dirty state. "Looking sharp and clean there," Jellal comments with a smirk, "Making me jealous here" "Huh," Nawin chuckles, "I bet. You two reek," "What can we say?" Erza casually shrugs, "Our jobs do get messy at times."

"So," Jellal shift the conversation back to Nawin. "What is it that you want to talk about, Nawin?" "Why don't you two freshen up before getting into it," Makasha suggests then lifts his right hand up and points the thumb backward. "I spot a clean pond while heading here" "Oh," Erza nods. "We pass by that too. Alright, I prefer to get clean up first anyway" "Sounds good, though before that," Jellal turns around and strolls toward the corpses that are by the entrance "Let me get the rest of the horns."

After cutting the horns off the remaining minotaurs and collecting it, the group head east until they reach the pond. "Hmm," Jellal has been busying himself the whole way by counting how many horns that are in the sack. "So?" Erza curiously inquires, "How many?" "Seems like we got thirty-two" "So there were sixteen of them?" Nawin asks, "Yeah," Jellal close the sack by tying the rope then looks up. "We counted sixteen." "Good," Erza smirk in satisfaction. "You didn't miss one, Jellal" "When have I ever mess up in such trivial tasks, Erza?" Jellal reply with an exasperated expression, "Ahaha, that may be true. Just implying that don't start on it."

"Here we are," Nawin state, coming to a stop and stares at the bluish color pond. "I'll wai-" "Going in first!" Erza abruptly dashes pass Makasha and jumps high in the air before making a big splash on the water. "And there she goes," Nawin comments, sweatdropping at the energetic woman. Jellal stops by the side, chuckling, "Mind holding onto this for me?" Nawin glance over to see the sack "Sure," he nods and takes it before watching Jellal, too make a run for the waters and jump into it.

"The change of scenery can still be jarring at times," Nawin speaks out loud to himself, staring at the peaceful lake. "One moment, I am in the high-tech city of Kuoh, and now I am in a land that much resemblance the Middle Ages. Though it is a scenery I will have to get used to soon." "Hey, Nawin!" Erza's loud voice snaps him out of his mind and looks ahead to see her resting by the edge of the pond. She gives him a weird look. "Why are you muttering to yourself?" "It's nothing," Nawin waves off with a smile, "Just speaking my thoughts" "Hmm, alright."

A few more minutes past and Erza along with Jellal exits the pond, Nawin decided to set up a fire to warm the pair after exiting the chilly water. "Ahhh," Erza takes a seat next to Nawin on the log. She has discarded her armor to the pocket dimension to dry up and now wears a plain white sarashi over her breast and long baggy gray pants. "You really don't know the meaning of modesty, do you?" "Eh," Erza gives a nonchalant smile then lifts her shoulders for a shrug. Jellal takes a seat across the fire and chuckles. "Don't bother with the word 'modesty' with her, Nawin. She's at a loss with that meaning" "Why do I have to cover so much skin for others?" Erza asks, raising a brow. "Some people act like if they see me naked, it'll give them a heart attack" "I'm sure some would drop dead if they witness you naked, Erza" Nawin states, "Mhm-hmm," Jellal hums in agreement. "Was that a compliment?" Erza asks, "Y-yes," Nawin swiftly answers when seeing anger boiling behind those brown eyes, "You are a beautiful woman, Erza" "Why thank you."

Jellal lightly laughs at how Nawin manages to dodge a dangerous bullet. "So," Erza starts and looks over to her friend "What's this urgent matter you want to talk about, Nawin?" "Well," Makasha pause for a moment to think of the best way to start this conversation. "I think the best way to talk about this is to just be upfront with the two of you... Erza, Jellal, I want both of you to be part of my peerage."

Makasha is slightly taken aback by the little response he gets from the Bounty Hunters. "We thought you'd come to us one day about that, Nawin" Jellal admits with a calm smile before shooting a gaze at his partner "Erza actually had a hunch on it. So, we were prepared." Erza grabs a stick and uses it to move the logs that are fueling the fire. "However," she speaks up, "I want to know the reason why you decide to come to us about this now, Nawin." Setting the stick on the grass, Erza faces her friend. "The reason must be significant if you specifically want me and Jellal to join your group. We aren't some weak and inexperienced blood."

"You are not wrong about that," Nawin admits with a faint smile "My reason is not a minuscule one..." Staring at his clench hands for a moment, Nawin finally shifts up to look at the pair. "I am planning on deserting Vesarima to join with Khaos Brigade." Both Erza's and Jellal's expressions change into one of shock the moment those words left Makasha's mouth. That response is not what they anticipated at all. It wasn't even a possibility in their mind.

"W-what do you mean?" Jellal stutters out, "It is exactly as I said, Jellal," Nawin's firmly replies to show those words he utters were serious. Erza regains her composure and now quietly study Makasha's eyes. 'He's made up his mind on this decision...' "Why?" Erza asks, getting Nawin's attention. "Tell me your reason for this, Nawin... And it better be a good one." The Scarlet haired woman's expression turns sharp. "Because if it is a shit reason, then you can rule out both of us in joining your group."

Nawin solemnly smiles as his eyes are cast on the fire in front. "Tell me, Erza," he starts in a soft voice, "How far would you go to protect your love ones?" Erza shoots a glance over to Jellal, the man that has been there for her since the beginning. "As far as it takes," she answers without wavering. Nawin turns to the blue-haired man. "Jellal?" "Same."

Casting his eyes back to the fire, Nawin nods. "Then both of you can understand a bit from where I will be coming from..." Nawin brings his right hand up and grabs the collar of his shirt, he pulls it out. "See the mark on my neck?" Erza and Jellal examine the black flame-like pattern that circles around the image of a pair of dragon wings. "That's not a tattoo that I'm sure you two thought it was," Nawin release the collar then looks up to the pair. "That's a powerful seal that's been given to me by Ophis. The Infinite Dragon God." Nawin watches those shock eyes remains on the mark before turning to him. "I've been marked by the Deity to put it plainly."

Makasha can still recollect vividly of his last encounter with Ophis. Remembering those silver eyes looking down at him like he's some kind of obedient pet. Right there, Nawin knew just precisely what Ophis want in him. She wants him to be her personal servant that will hold loyalty only to her. That look made him sick, but he knew there is nothing he can do about it. Not against such a powerful being. Not yet.

Erza opens her mouth to talk, but Nawin stops her by one look. Telling her to listen until he's finished. "It is an established knowledge by now that Ophis is the Leader of the Khaos Brigade. Only someone like her can control such a powerful and rabid faction. And as you two can guess, she has taken an interest in me. I've had this mark for over half a year now. It seems she's been studying me to see if I can handle the power she has given me. Recently I had a visit from her, and she gave me an ultimatum."

"Which is?" Erza asks as her sight, and attention solely focuses on Makasha. "Serve under her or watch Kuoh be annihilated along with my friends and family." Both Erza's and Jellal's face shows disgust by Ophis's terms. "So, that is the reason why you plan on joining her?" Jellal asks, "Not exactly," Nawin reply as his lip twist into a faint smirk. "I'm not one to bend down so easily. Her ultimatum did play a part in my decision to become a deserter, but it isn't all of it. Another reason is my own." "What do you mean?" Erza asks, "Ophis promised me power, and in truth, she is the best person to train me. My Longinus is Dragon-based. Ophis is also known as the Mother of All Dragons. There's no one else better to train me than her."

"You seek power from Ophis," Jellal comments and gets a confirm nod from Nawin. "It feels like you are in a hurry for power, Nawin. It's honestly concerning." "I have to get stronger to protect my friends and family," Nawin calmly replies. "Are you two familiar with a group called Akumi?" "Yes," Erza answers with a sever expression. "We started hearing about them not long ago. It's a mysterious organization that contains some of the most dangerous and wanted criminals in the Underworld. A scary bunch as they appeared out of nowhere." "I have encountered some of their members on multiple occasions," Nawin admits, surprising the pair. "And to say I was powerless against them is an understatement. They are frightening adversaries."

"What do they have to do with your decision, Nawin?" Erza inquires, not seeing the clear picture. "I've recently got confirmation from a friend that the Akumi are hunting down Longinus wielders. That seems to be their goal. The reason behind it is still unknown. But that's not the important part." Nawin's eyes gaze sharply at the flame, the fire reflecting in the red orbs. "Issei possess a Longinus within him as you two are aware. The Boosted Gear. But he is not the only one that holds a Longinus... My younger sister possesses one as well, Lucy Makasha."

"Your sister?!" Erza repeats with surprise in her tone, "What's her Longinus?" "Eternal Flames," Nawin reply "She can wield blue flames that are as hot as the famous Phenex's flame. Though, I've seen she can summon and wield the Amaterasu" "The black flames?!" Jellal's eyes widen in stun, "One said to never extinguish?" "Yes... However," Nawin's expression hardens. "Besides that single time she lost control and accidentally used it, it has never reappeared. She still has a long way to go..."

Clenching his hands tightly at the thought of Lucy being a target of the Akumi, Nawin opens his mouth to continue. "The day Lucy was born, and I was able to gaze her face... I made a promised to myself at that moment that no matter what, I will always protect her. That be by her side or in the shadows." He looks up with fiery eyes at both Erza and Jellal. "It may not be today, tomorrow, or even a year from now, but that day will come when the Akumi will go after her. And in my current state and growth, I will never be fully prepared when that day comes. I will be powerless, along with others. I can't continue on this path any longer. I realized just how weak I am compared to the enemies that lurk behind the scenes. If this continues, I won't be able to protect Lucy, Issei, along with the rest of my friends and family."

Jellal glances over to his partner and sees those brown eyes hold sympathy. Nawin's word clearly touched Erza's heart. He is on the same boat. Both of them can see the difficult position that Nawin is in. "So," Erza speaks, looking over "You are going to Ophis more on your own free will then by force," "Yes," Nawin nods "But I am not only doing that to gain power but also to benefit the others" "What do you mean?" Jellal asks, leaning forward.

Nawin leans back to sit straight and release a long sigh. He looks up at the purple sky. "With Issei and Lucy being a target for the Akumi ultimately means Rias and the rest of the group will also be in the crossfire. They will be as much involved, which means they too are in danger. And none of them will stand a chance against even the weakest member from the Akumi. I am confident in that. That is why I want all of them to get stronger, and that's where a problem lies." Nawin's eyes return down to the pair. "Right now, none of them have this one specific goal that'll push them to the next level. A person cannot truly become strong if they don't have that one source of motivation that will drive them to pass their current limits. That is what my friends currently lack" "And you want to become that for them," Erza adds in as she begins to understand where Makasha is going with this.

Nawin simply nods before continuing. "In their eyes, my decision to leave will be influence by Ophis. I will become a goal for them to chase and be better, which in terms means it'll prepare them for the threats that will inevitably arrive. That be the Akumi and other adversaries that hide in the shadows." In Nawin's mind, people like Sayomi's unhinge brother, Kaizen, and the Old Satans spring to mind.

"You are willing to completely tarnish your reputation, Nawin?" Jellal questions with absolute seriousness in his tone and face. "You will be denounced as a traitor and shall constantly be hunted down by Bounty Hunters. Your life will radically change for the worse. There's no turning back from that," "When you want to protect those you hold dear, you have to make sacrifices." Those words truly ring with Nawin as it reminds him of Sayomi and just what she did and had to endure when she became an object of his hatred that ultimately pushed him to become stronger. She was willing to sacrifice their past to get him stronger, but in the end, she couldn't maintain on that path. Her unconditional love for him ultimately causes her to fall from that harsh path. But he isn't planning on failing like Sayomi. He can't fail.

Nawin's downcast eyes begin to shine, showing no hesitation or fear as he looks up at Jellal. "I am willing to set my feelings aside to protect them. And I am willing to tarnish my name to be a goal for them to desperately catch. As long as in the end, they all become strong enough to fend for themselves."

For a moment, the only noise that is surrounding the air is the crackling sound coming from the fire. Jellal stares sharply at Makasha while Erza has her eyes close and arms cross. "… You truly are a selfless man, Nawin Makasha," Erza comments, gaining the attention of the other two. Opening her eyes, she looks over to her friend with a fond smile. "I have never met someone extraordinary like you before. This path you are taking is filled with hardship and pain. It is unwise to tread it alone..." Bringing her right arm up and opening the palm, Erza's smile grows "I won't abandon a friend to such danger. I'll gladly follow you through this path of yours, Nawin." "And so will I," Jellal inserts with a warm smile "You've always done good by our side, Nawin. And like Erza, I consider you my friend."

Bringing his arm forward to accept Erza's hand, a wide and genuine smile spread on Nawin's face. "Thank you, you two... Truly," he whispers. "Having both of you accompanying us is a big relief for me." Giving Nawin's hand a gentle squeeze as if finalizing her decision, Erza releases the grip. "You have other members?" Jellal asks, "Yes," Nawin nods. "Two, in fact. Akame is my Knight, and Misako Ichiru is my Bishop. They both decided to follow me." "Once humans?" Erza inquires, "Yes, however, Akame is very skilled as she used to be an assassin. Misako is still very much a novice but has recently awakened her Sacred Gear. They both still have a long way to go. Though I believe both of you can train them properly considering Erza, you are skilled in swords and Jellal, you are a magic-user, which is an area Misako is showing great promise in." "Seems like the pieces are falling nicely for you, Nawin" Erza comments with a smirk "It is one of the big reasons of why I wanted you both to join us," Nawin admits "However the main reason I wanted you two to join is that," he looks at the pair and smile "I trust you both."

Erza and Jellal are taken aback by those sincere words. Nawin continues. "I value loyalty above all else when it comes to picking members for my peerage. And with where my future lies... I need people to have my back from dangers within Khaos Brigade and outside of it." "You are right," Erza nods in agreement with Makasha's mindset before wearing a warm smile. "I'm glad to hear you hold us in such high regard, Nawin." "That journey we took together to find the Lightning Gemstone showed me that both of you can be trusted... After all," Nawin tilts his head to the side, his smile widens, "You two did risk your lives to save me up in that mountain."

Jellal takes the towel off his now dry hair and wraps it around his neck. "You've done much for us in that journey, too, Nawin. If it isn't clear already," he grins brightly. "You already have our utmost trust." "I'm glad."

"So," Erza crosses her left leg over the right, head tilting in a curious manner. "Now that we are all set in terms of decision and trust. What pieces will you choose for us, Nawin?" "Well," Makasha sits straight, eyeing the Scarlet-haired woman. "Yours pretty straight-forward. My Knight" "That is the correct move," Erza muse. Nawin shifts to Fernandes, "Jellal, considering you are a mix of close combat and magic fighter, I believe Pawn will suit well for you. I'll give you my remaining four pawns." "Sure," Jellal shrugs in agreement, "Though you said remaining four? I recalled you said you only have two members?"

"I recently used the other four to revive a friend of mine," Nawin answers, looking at Jellal. "I used them to bring her back to life. Nothing more. I don't want her to be involved in this harsh world because I believe she won't last in it." Jellal slowly nods in understanding. "Alright. So, what's your exact plan going forward, Nawin?" "Ophis wants me to depart tonight to Land of Ends" "There?!" Erza blinks in surprise, "Land of Ends is nothing but a scorched and barren land that's filled with canyons and craters," "It is the last battleground between the Old and Current Satans," Jellal adds in "That so..." Nawin contemplates for a moment before shrugging, "Means it's pretty much a dead land, right?" "Correct," Erza nods. "Then it is a perfect place for Ophis to install a gateway there. She has her own dimension that's no doubt home to Khaos Brigade" "Ah, so that's how it is," Jellal mutters. "With that being the case, then Land of Ends would be an ideal area to set an entrance. It is considered a cursed land because of the earth-shattering battle that happened there. Not even animals or monsters will step foot near there because of the malicious mana that still lingers beneath the grounds."

Nawin cannot help but let out a smirk. "And that's another reason why I want you two to join us... You both are very well knowledge about this world considering you travel to all sorts of places for contracts." "Ahahaha!" Erza let out a hearty laugh before giving a grin, "You are indeed correct about that, Nawin."

Slowly getting up to his feet, Nawin brings the right arm up to glance at his watch. 'Will be lunchtime soon... Still took some time getting to Shiva, considering I had to fly at a moderate speed to keep my mana hidden.' "So," Nawin looks at the pair "How long would it take to get to Land of Ends? I know it is quite a distance, but not the exact amount." "Well," Erza crosses her arms over her breast, head tilting to the side in a thinking manner, "I notice you are keeping your mana in check, so you are currently in hiding, right?" "Yes, to keep myself hidden from Rias and the rest for obvious reasons" "Then flying there is out of the question... A group up there in the air will be noticed no matter if we keep our mana in check. And," Erza lift the index finger to point, "You said this Misako girl is still green to this, so there can be a chance that she will accidentally spike her mana during flying."

"So, flying is out," Nawin firmly states, "Can't we travel far enough on foot then take to the skies?" Jellal suggests, "I worry that may be too risky still. Rias is currently out looking for me, and her familiar is now scouring far and wide. I don't want to take chances of being spotted." Nawin frowns. "If I were to get caught by her... It will lead to a battle." "Got it," Jellal nods in understanding. "We won't fly then." "Horseback in full gallop will take us roughly four hours to get there," Erza speaks, opening her eyes after doing some calculation in her mind. "Sounds like the best plan," Nawin voice in agreement.

"One more thing." Erza and Jellal notice Makasha's expression shifting to unease. "This instruction I was given to go to the Land of Ends has me troubled the moment I heard it," "You mean how contrived it is?" Jellal inserts and gets a nod. "Exactly... Why doesn't Ophis simply open a personal teleportation for me?" "My mind was pondering on that," Erza admits, "For a being such as Ophis, that should be a simple task."

Nawin wordlessly nods to Erza's words. He didn't bother questioning Kuroka about it due to him wanting to have her leave at soonest before Irina returned. "No doubt I'm plainly walking into her games. Something will happen, so I want you two to be on alert when we reach there" "Got it," the pair answer in unison.

With his expression softening, Nawin raises his right arm and open the palms. Small shards of black and white form until a Knight and Four Pawn pieces appear in existence. "Alright," Nawin starts with a warm smile "You two ready?" Jellal shares a similar smile and nods while Erza smirks and stands up, stopping in front of the man that will soon be her King.

Bringing her right hand up and resting it on the area where Nawin's heart lies, Erza tilt her head as the smirk widens. "I'll be following you to make sure this remains pure, so you won't lose yourself, Nawin. That, along with protecting you and the group will be my role as your Knight." The surprised look on Nawin's face slowly changes to comfort. "I wouldn't have it any other way."

Kuoh: Makasha Household

"I-I hate you!" the five-year-old Akeno screams at the taller person standing by the doorway. The door is wide open and shows a world of whiteness from the outside. The light cast a shadow over the other individual, leaving their appearance to be nothing but a silhouette. However, one noticeable feature about the older individual that is very visible is their violet color eyes that share the matching shade with the crying child before them.

"I hate you, I hate you!" Akeno shouts as loud as her vocal cord can muster with tears continuing to stream down her glossy eyes. Her tiny hands clench tightly and soundly into fists, knuckles turning white. "You are never here! You never play with me! You never love me!" Words after words scathingly leave the child's mouth, directing straight at the unnamed individual.

Those mature violet eyes confer pain and sadness, and they lift their hand forward, which only forces Akeno to stumble back to keep a distance. Her glares increase in hatred. The extended hand slowly lowers and drops to the side. The shadowy person turns around and takes one step into the world of white. "One day, you will understand, Akeno... When you find that special someone."

With her eyelids faltering, Himejima slowly unfolds them to reveal those striking violet orbs. Taking a deep breath, she slowly pushes the blanket off her naked body and then rises up to sit. Bringing a hand around her face, Akeno massage the sides of the head while her lip twist into a frown. "Of all the time... To dream about her." Venom is apparent throughout those spoken words.

Releasing her face to glance over at the right for the digital clock, Akeno notices it just turn afternoon. Her expression shift to grimace at her late awake. Pushing up off the bed, Akeno makes way for the bathroom. Flicking the lights on, she stands in front of the sink and stares at her reflection in the mirror. "When I find that special someone..." Akeno softly repeats those exact words she heard in that dream. Her eyes contain many wild emotions.

Shortly, Akeno finds her eyes wandering down to the beautiful bracelet on her right wrist. Sadness quickly envelops Himejima's face. "I can't keep going like this," she whispers and traces the jewelry with the left hand. Slowly some fire beginning building in those violet orbs. "I have found my special someone... I won't lose him like this." Clenching the right hand into a fist, Akeno looks up at her reflection, "I will do whatever it takes to ask for forgiveness, Nawin-kun."

With this newfound determination arising within her, Akeno exits the bathroom after taking a refreshing cold shower. Done drying her hair with a soft towel, she tosses it to the bed and opens the wardrobe to fetch some casual clothes. Donning on a short-sleeve gray blouse and tight black jeans, Akeno slowly shuts the closet. She pauses, however, when noticing an object shimmering on the door's mirror.

Turning around, Himejima takes several steps to end in front of the short wooden table beside the bed. Bending down to grab the item, Akeno lifts it up to her face. "You went through hell to get me this..." She stares at the mesmerizing lightning gemstone. Guilt again comes across her face, but nevertheless, Himejima grabs the ends of the necklace and clips it on. The radiant yellow gem rests comfortably above her chest.

Opening the window, Akeno sees the right at her red ribbon laying on Nawin's work-desk. Reaching out for it, she finds herself pausing midway, and her arm shaking in uncertainty. "Finally leaving this room?" Himejima freeze by hearing those soft-spoken words. She glances behind to see Jonathan standing by the doorway with a plate of food in hand. No doubt meant for her.

Retracting her arm and turning around to face the adult, Akeno gives an uncertain look and watch the Father place the plate by the table next to the cabinet. He looks up with that kind smile. "Yes," Akeno gives a slow nod "I can't keep mopping around anymore. It won't solve anything thing." Jonathan closes his eyes, and his smile widens in agreement. He walks forward and takes a seat on the bed, facing Himejima.

Opening his eyes, Jonathan speaks. "You are most certainly right about that. Nothing will change by staying in this room feeling sorry for yourself, Akeno. However," he looks straight at Himejima's eyes, "Is your mind truly ready?" "I-I," Akeno stutters and finds herself averting gaze to the floor, her lip quivering, "I don't really know... I do desperately want to see Nawin-kun and apologize for what I've done... For being such a bad lover to him during the time he most needed me to be that person he can wholeheartedly count on."

Jonathan leans forward and rests his arms on the needs, hands clenching together. "Akeno, you must realize by now how you are in a way different from others." Himejima grimace to show she understands where he is coming from. "It is the same as your Mother for your Father. When you find that special someone... Someone that you believe to be your soulmate. You will hold this immense love and affection towards them. From the very beginning, your love towards Nawin can eclipse even the love of a couple that has been together for decades."

"Tell me," Jonathan retains that sharp but still kind tone. "Before your eyes set sight on my son. Has someone ever caught your interest?" "No," Akeno swiftly answers, "No one has ever made me look twice until I met Nawin-kun." Jonathan nods, expecting that answer. "Losing him must have been painful" "It is the worst pain I ever felt..." Akeno whispers out, clenching onto the blouse with her right hand, precisely on the area of the heart. Jonathan knows those words are not an exaggeration, with Akeno being more mature and older, her pain in losing the bond with Nawin can believably rival that of the pain of losing her own Mother.

Jonathan and Yao understand just how much Akeno cherishes her relationship with Nawin. It goes to the point of unhealthiness, which led to her being insecure and afraid of losing that very bond. It is why they never push Akeno during her depressive state. They believe it is best to wait until she stands back up on her own two feet. Their words would only fall on deaf ears. Everyone's words would. Everyone aside from Nawin's.

Standing up, Jonathan stops in front of the girl and place his right hand down on her head. Akeno looks up in surprise by the gesture while Jonathan wears a warm grin that shows support. "You love my son with all your heart. That I know without question. Now that you have come to terms with your mistakes, and I believe you will not repeat them. So," Jonathan brings his hand down and rests it on Akeno's shoulder "If you want to go out there, apologize to him to at least make things right and lessen that guilt in your heart. Then I say that is the best first step, Akeno. The other steps are left for you to decide."

Hearing those supportive words from Jonathan promptly banish the feeling of hesitation and fear in Akeno's heart. Her face considerably brightens as she can muster up a genuine smile in response. "I will do that. Thank you, Jonathan." The Father simply smiles and watches the girl turn around, grabbing the red ribbon and tying it on her hair into that ponytail style of hers. With a nod to herself, Akeno jumps out of the window to leave the room she has locked herself in for weeks.

The smile on Jonathan's face subsides lightly by the absent girl. "I hope you can at least get to apologize to him, Akeno."

Underworld: Gremory's Manor

"You've found nothing of him?" A look of defeat cast over Rias's face when Matsu delivers the lackluster news. The familiar gives a sad look when seeing its Master's downcast expression. "Hey," Rias quickly muster up a smile when seeing that guilty look on her adorable familiar. Raising a hand, she gently pets Matsu's head. "It's alright, Matsu. You did your best. This task is hard considering who you are trying to find."

Stopping the petting, Rias returns the arm back on her knee then wears a grateful smile. "You've done enough. You can return back home and rest now, Matsu." With a nod, the familiar's whole body gradually lights up before vanishing from existence, returning to the Familiar Forest.

The smile on Rias's face instantly drops the moment she is left alone. Replacing that is a deep frown fill with frustration. "Damn it," she whispers through her gritting teeth "What to do now?" The anxiety within her heart that has been there for days now increases. With the discovery of that photo given by Grayfia, Miraya's strange involvement and disappearance, along with the difficult tasks of trying to locate Nawin. It has created this cloud of ominous that's been looming over Rias's head and continues to grow bigger by the day. "Four days now, and I still got nothing!"

Rias is reaching the end of her rope. For the entirety of yesterday, she spent tirelessly scouring through Vesarima in attempting to find even a trace of Nawin. She spoke to countless onlookers and guards to see if they had spotted him by chance, but all their answers ended with nothing. It seems as Nawin has not stepped foot in the Capital.

"I can't do this on my own," Rias admits with slouching shoulders. An exhausting sigh leaves her mouth. She does not need to look at the mirror to comprehend that her current appearance leaves much to be desired. No doubt, there are dark bags underneath her eyes at the moment. The lack of sleep makes sure of that.

Pushing herself off the tiles on the rooftop, Rias stands straight and looks onward at the beautiful purple horizon. The fire of determination returns in her striking eyes. "I will find you, Nawin." With those words utter in full conviction, Rias summons the teleportation to take her to the next destination. The person that can help her resides right in Kuoh.

The crest of Gremory comes to life at the center of the living room in Hyoudou's household. Crimson light momentarily blinds the place before fading to unveil Rias. "Issei?" The moment she opens her eyes, Rias calls out for her lover.

However, cold silence is the response that greets Gremory. Rias half-expected Issei to be rushing into the room to greet her while donning that adorable worry expression of his. "He's not here." She gazes up to the ceiling, unable to sense Hyoudou's mana from the second floor.

Feeling how cold and lonely this place is, it has Rias to feel guilty. She is aware her sudden departure to finding Nawin must have hit Issei hard. He, too, is feeling the effect of Makasha's absence. Instead of bringing him along, she is doing it by herself. Her decision to go solo on this is not only to not worry the others more but also to question Nawin one to one on the context of the photo and to ask him about Miraya's involvement. Now things are different. Now all Rias want is to know if her friend is genuinely doing well. Nothing else matters at this moment.

"There's no time to waste," Rias whisper. She shifts gaze towards the right to look out at the window. The house of Makasha's comes into view. "I need to see her..."

Instead of her usual method of stopping by the window to the room, Rias goes for a more civil manner considering her dear friend's state. Stopping by the front door, she gives a few respective knocks and waits.

Blinking by the sound of the knob twisting, the door pulls open, and greeting Gremory is the warm-spirit Jonathan. "Hello, Rias," the adult greets with a kind smile. Rias returns with her own smile and nods in respect. "Hello, Jonathan-san. I hope you are doing well," "Hanging in there." Rias giggles at the jest response. "That's good to hear. If it is not too much trouble, can I come in to see Akeno? It has been a while since I last check up on her." "Ah," Jonathan blinks in understanding and cross his arms.

"Actually, Akeno left the house not too long ago." "E-excuse me?" Rias stutter by that reply. Her expression shift to disbelief. Jonathan warmly chuckles and gives a solid nod to confirm his words. "It seems today she has finally come to. I talked with her before she left and can confidently say she's is mentally doing better."

A burst of happiness surge into Rias's heart as a big smile breaks out of her face by the news. It feels like forever since she last experience this much joy. She is beyond ecstatic to learn her dear friend is doing better now. "That's amazing to hear!" Rias beams, "Do you know where she went, Jonathan-san?" The smile on Hatsuji momentarily wanes. "Akeno is searching for Nawin now. She wants to apologize to him for what happened."

The smile on Rias's face instantly drops, "A-ah, I see." Jonathan notes the look of concern on Gremory's face, and his eyes faintly narrow in understanding. "Why don't you try searching for her mana, Rias" Jonathan kindly suggest, "I'm sure you'll find her quickly." Surprise by the sudden comment, Rias nevertheless listens to the advice and closes her eyes for the moment.

Widening her senses as far as she possibly can. Rias concentrate hard to pinpoint Akeno's mana. '... I can sense her!' Snapping her eyes open, Rias peers toward East, knowing the exact location Akeno is heading. "Thank you for your help, Jonathan-san!" Rias gives a hasty bow before turning around to break off into a sprint.

Jonathan frowns as he observes the young girl disappearing from the corner in haste. "You know what's transpiring, don't you?" A distinctive voice comes from behind that makes Jonathan turn around to come face to face with his wife. Yao stands there with her arms cross over the white apron. Her face sharp and serious. "Nawin is pl-" "You don't have to say it, Yao," Jonathan stoically mutters as he returns into the house, shutting the door behind.

Stopping by his wife's side, Jonathan gazes over at the portrait picture of his family hanging by the hallway. A photo that is taken after they just adopted Asia into the family. "What both of us need to be contemplating on right now is rather clear." He throws a keen glance over to Yao. "What are we going to do about it?"

Making a swift turn around another corner, Rias skillfully leaps over a car that's parking in front of the red light. Landing on her feet and ignoring the many wide eyes on her, she takes off again in a sprint. 'I need to hurry before she finds out!' Rias wince at the burning sensation of her legs. Her lack of sleep is showing its effect. Her lungs are already feeling the strain and aches by the lack of oxygen. Gulping down another breath of air, Rias picks up speed to continue on.

It takes another full minute of full sprint until Rias spots the familiar building in the distance. She looks closely and notices a long raven color hair disappear into the corner of a wall. 'Akeno!' Rias doesn't lose her footing and rush over.

Stopping right in front of the building, Rias sees her friend heading for the reception building for the Gray Lotus Motel. "Akeno!" she shouts through panting breath. Himejima pauses her hand from the door handle and turns around with a look of shock plaster on her face. "Rias?" she whispers, watching her friend clumsily walking towards her.

"What's the hurry?" Akeno asks with a jovial smile then pulls out a silk napkin from the jeans to offer it. "Ahahah," Rias gives a sheepish chuckle then graciously accepts the napkin. "Thanks." Akeno waits patiently for her friend to wipe away the sweat and catch her breath.

Finishing wiping her face, Rias clench the napkin in her hand and wears a better smile. "I wanted to visit you, actually. When I heard from Jonathan-san that you are in better health, I quickly rush over." Akeno giggles brightly and grins. "Rushing here indeed. I would give you a hug, but I don't want to get your sweat over me." Rias laughs heartily and wears a matching grin. For a moment, she forgets everything and is happy to see that her friend is genuinely in a better place. After weeks of self-isolation, Akeno is returning to her old self.

"Hmm," Himejima lets out a hum in curious. "Are you ok, Rias?" she asks with a tilt to her head, "You look quite worn out." Rias knows Akeno is mentioning about the dark bags underneath her eyes. While rushing here, Rias also notices how skin has become noticeably paler. "Well..." she sighs out, "Regrettably, things have been chaotic for me recently, Akeno" "Why is that?" Now a severe expression dons Himejima's face "Did something happen?"

Rias goes quiet for a moment before mustering up a dull smile. Her mind returns to the reason why she was rushing here so quickly. With Akeno just returning to her feet, the last thing Rias desire is for her friend to discover about Sayomi in such a random manner as she did here when questioning the man in reception. It does not take Rias much to know how badly Akeno will react to that discovery. If she were to find out about it, best it be from a friend.

"Let's go sit down first, Akeno," Rias suggest and turns around. She makes way toward the bench by the small garden. "But I ne-" "He's not here, Akeno." Rias pause for a moment and eyes back, her neck cranes to look right at the door to the room on the second where Miraya once occupied. "Neither is Miraya. They're gone."

The tone that Rias used when uttering those words fills Akeno's heart with anxiety. She is very familiar with that cold, serious tone. And it makes her realize that something pressing has happened while she's lock herself away from the world.

Apprehensively, Akeno follows Rias to the empty garden near a water fountain. Seating on a bench side by side, Rias remains silent for a moment to contemplate the best way to inform Akeno with what's been happening with Nawin. She already determines that it is best to reveal everything to her friend. 'Best I be forward with all of this.'

Opening the right palm and crimson shards developing above. A photo instantly materializes into existence. "Grayfia showed me this four days ago," Rias calmly inform and without looking over, pass the item to Akeno's hand. Holding the photo with both hands, Akeno turns it around to see the contents, and what greets her almost causes her to drop it. "T-that's..." Unable to even speak through her quivering lip, Akeno simply stares at the photo of Nawin with Sayomi in absolute disbelief.

Rias grimace at her friend's reaction. Still, she opens her mouth to speak and give context. "It was taken by a scout that's stationed here. It is genuine, so don't hold doubt." Akeno's gaze does not avert by those words as it remains solely on Nawin's face. Akeno knows Nawin well enough that she can tell if his smiles are genuine. And that wide smile he wears in the photo is as real as it can be. To see him be this happy, maybe even the happiest she has ever seen him. And to be it with Sayomi Dracul of all people. Akeno finds her arms trembling by the many emotions swelling in her heart. She simply can't comprehend the reason behind this photo.

'Why is Nawin-kun with Sayomi?' 'Why do they look like they are on a romantic date?' 'Why are they so happy together?' 'Why... Why do they look like they are in love?' All these questions arise in Akeno's frantic mind.

"Akeno?" With concern, Rias brings a hand forward to gently grab onto Akeno's arm. That gesture snaps Himejima out of her shock and thoughts. She turns to finally face her friend. "W-where is Nawin-kun? Is he ok?!" "I sadly can't answer that," Rias regrettably reply. She lifts the index finger to point toward the photo "That was taken a week ago... It is the latest and last information on Nawin entirely. His whereabouts and status are currently unknown."

"So..." Akeno examines the rough state of her friend "You've been searching for him?" "Yes," Rias admits with a long sigh, her shoulder slumps. "Counting today, it's been four days now since I've begun searching for Nawin. Even with the help of Matsu, things have been abysmal." "You are searching for Nawin-kun," Akeno speaks and gaze back at the picture. "If he wants to remain hidden, then the likelihood of finding him is near impossible... Taking into account the incredible power of Speeding Shadow God under his arsenal. He can disappear to another city like Tokyo in the blink of an eye if he senses you are gaining grounds."

Rias massage the area between her eyes before nodding to Himejima's words. "I know," she sighs and returns the arm to her knee. "There is another information I recently learned that's got me worried." Akeno places the photo on her lap and faces her friend. "Yes?" "It's about Miraya." Rias shift eyes forward the motel. "A man from reception informed me that Nawin was seen here often with Miraya, which makes me believe he was staying here for some time before disappearing. However, that's not it as he also told me that someone else would come by here that caught his eyes."

It did not take much for Akeno to display the shock as she realizes where Rias is going. "Sayomi?!" she whispers "Yes. She was here." A look of confusion form on Gremory's face. "That information is unexpected... I cannot believe Nawin would have Sayomi be near to Miraya. Even with what that picture on your lap shows... It is still difficult to fathom he would allow an individual as deathly and powerful as that Pureblood to even lay eyes on Miraya."

What Rias is saying is entirely correct to Akeno. Even her own eyes can see just how much Miraya means to Nawin. She knows well of Nawin's cautious and protective nature for the girl. When he returns from his hiatus, Nawin would constantly take extra precaution to check around Kuoh for any signs of danger. He would make absolutely certain that no Stray Devils or lawless Fallen Angel are in the city. That is the length he would go to make sure of Miraya's safety.

"Now Miraya too is gone," Rias continues and turns back to look at Himejima. "I worry about Nawin's mindset, Akeno." "Is..." Akeno gazes down at the photo with guilt in her eyes. "Is this happening because of me?" "I don't know. However," Gremory's expression shifts to serious "That isn't a concern you need plaguing your mind, Akeno." Himejima crane and looks to the side to her friend "What's important now is to find Nawin and make sure he's well. That is one of the reasons I came back to Kuoh to meet you. Akeno, besides his family, you are one of the few that knows Nawin-kun bests. Better than even I... Can you locate him?"

Silence falls for the moment as Rias patiently waits from an answer from Akeno, who has her eyes back on the photo. Sight focus specifically at Nawin. "Tracking him down is impossible now..." Rias's expression instantly goes dishearten by that response. "But," Akeno passes the photo over then looks at her friend "I can locate him by using the bracelet."

"Truly?" Rias asks. She takes the photo back as her face lightens up in hope. Akeno nods and brings her left hand over to the oval-shape diamond. Its size is less than a palm but still big enough to catch the eyes. The color remains that same shade of onyx black similar to Nawin's mana. "This stone was created purely by Nawin-kun's mana. That fact is why it changes color to white if Nawin-kun were to end on death doors." "So, what will you do with it?" Rias press on.

Resting her hand on the diamond, Akeno stares at it with warm eyes. "I can use the mana inside this to create a connection to Nawin-kun. As I stated, the diamond is created purely by his mana, so there's enough in here to accomplish this." "Wait," Rias gasps, "You mean like a reverse-tracking?" "Yes. I will use the mana inside the diamond to track down the main source, that being Nawin-kun. Rather than starting off to find him like trying to find a needle in a haystack. I shall use his own mana to trace him down as there is a link. Even if a person suppresses their mana, they can never truly conceal it in its entirety. Particularly when the subject is Nawin-kun, who holds the compacity equal that of Satan-Class."

Shock is what Rias exhibits by how swiftly Akeno has come up with a reliable tactic to track down Nawin. After what she has been through, Rias presume her friend would be worn out with everything. That she would need time to adjust back to this world.

'You still love him dearly, don't you, Akeno?' Rias thinks with a faint smile forming on her face.

"Alright," Rias energetically nods. "Sounds like a solid plan. Let's do it." With her eyes close and the left palm resting on the stone, Akeno begins to concentrate. The sound and presence of the outside world slowly vanish. Her undivided focus solely lies on the stone or, more specifically, at the warm and familiar mana that resides within it.

Feeling Nawin's mana surging inside her from the diamond, Akeno erases her thoughts to focus exclusively on sensing. Desperate to find that familiar sensation of Makasha's mana, Akeno inwardly bites her teeth and concentrate harder to keep her mind steady when she still receives nothing.

A full minute pass and Rias notice Himejima's entire body jolts straight. Seeing that she knows her friend finally picks up Nawin's sense. "You got it?!" Akeno opens her eyes and nods. "Yes," she answers with a fiery smile then stands up. "He's here, Rias," Akeno states and faces South. "Alright," Rias, push herself to her feet and wears a determined look. "No time to waste. Lead the way, Akeno!" "Right."

Elsewhere

A ghost of a smile gently forms on Nawin's face as he rests on the edge of the tallest cliff that overlooks Kuoh. In comfortable silence, he gazes at the magnificent view that showcases the whole city. With his time limited, Nawin wants to enjoy remaining in Kuoh as much as he can before departing. Even when half of his life was spent away from here after Miraya's death, Nawin will always consider Kuoh his home. Leaving it in such circumstances does indeed hurt him.

"Two times now," Nawin whispers with a sliver of irony in his tone, "I am leaving this place due to unfortunate circumstances." Even though he has made up his mind on leaving for Ophis with his own intention. It does not change the fact he is forced to by the Deity. Either he joins, or she destroys Kuoh, his home, and everyone he loves that resides here. Never in his life has Nawin felt so powerless when Ophis gave him that ultimatum. However, that moment also adds more fuel to him to become stronger. For his loved ones, he will go to Ophis to gain power.

A rustle comes from behind that cause Nawin to faintly smirk. "Finally found me, Rias." Dropping from the sky, Rias and Akeno land a few meters away from Makasha. Both recede their wings as eyes focus solely on their friend. "Nawin..." Gremory whispers. Her tone matches the concerned expression on her face. Akeno, too shares the same look as she brings the right hand up to clench the blouse. Her heart beats fast from seeing Nawin again.

Makasha doesn't glance back to the girls as his sight remains on the beautiful view of Kuoh ahead. "So that was why I felt a tug in my mana not long ago," he calmly states, "You used the stone on the bracelet to trace me." Nawin cannot help but smile in impress. "Quite smart on your part, Akeno."

"Nawin," Rias firmly speaks and takes a step forward "There are many things I want to ask of you but first turn around." This unease feeling inside her is still present even after finding her friend. She knows something is wrong. 'W-wait!' Rais's eyes widen when she notices something different from Nawin. 'The mark...' She stares at her friend's expose neck. 'It's different! The seal Onii-sama placed on it is gone!'

With her heart beating increasingly in worry, Rias anxiously watch as Nawin slowly push himself up to his feet. Akeno silently gulps as she watches her once lover turn around to finally face them. "Why that look, Rias, Akeno?" Nawin asks, staring at the girl with his striking red eyes and pupils.

Seeing Nawin's eyes brew concern within Rias and Akeno. Even though they've seen them change like that numerous times when Nawin goes into battle. Yet, now it's different. It almost feels like those are not Nawin's eyes anymore. Malice and coldness lurk in those orbs that unsettle them greatly. It is giving them that uneasy feeling they would get when Nawin would use the Draconic Mark's power.

"N-Nawin-kun..." Akeno whispers out, and her breath hitch when those eyes set on her. "You finally decide to leave the room, Akeno." Forcing her beating heart to calm down, she nods and looks at Makasha in the eyes. "I need to... To apologize to you." Nawin expresses impassive by those words, and his attention returns to Rias. That gesture instantly causes Akeno to feel grief, she knows that sign. Nawin does not care to hear her apology.

Peering over to Akeno with concern, Rias shift forward to meet eyes with Nawin. "Why have you gone into hiding?" she asks in a demanding tone, "To take it to such an extreme length that I couldn't find you without Akeno's help." "I simply needed time to collect my thoughts," Nawin calmly answers. "Pity and worry from you weren't what I needed, Rias."

Makasha's words fuel some anger within Gremory's heart. "You didn't require your friend's company or help, but you are fine with hers?!" Shouting that, Rias throws a photo to the ground. Nawin gazes down, and his eyes widen ever slightly to see the image of him and Sayomi together on their date in Konaoh. 'So that is why she's so desperate to find me.'

"Correct." Rias and Akeno are shocked by that sincere response. Nawin doesn't miss a beat and looks at both girls. "Sayomi's company was what I needed during that hard time. If it wasn't for her... I'd be in bad shape by now." "What happened to you?!" Rias growls out in anger and confusion. "She's our enemy! E-" she exhales to calm herself and looks at her friend with a softer expression. "Even with I acknowledging that there's something between you two. It is obvious by now, that photo and how she treated you differently while we were in Brasov proves it... It does not change that you were seen with a Pureblood Vampire. A race that once almost put an end to humanity."

Rias is not done and takes a step forward. She opens her mouth to continue, but Nawin sharply cuts in. "And you want answers to why I was with her? Or should I be fairer to say you are doing it for Sirzech." Nawin shakes his head and shows annoyance. "For a man who is quite a pacifist and strives for peace... He sure is quick to label a person a threat." "Nawin!" Rias angrily snaps, "Don't insult him! He has done much for you! Sayomi Dracul is a different threat. She holds enough power to cause Armageddon!"

"... W-why," Akeno stutters out a whisper, "Why are you defending her?" Nawin closes his eyes for a moment before reopening. "Simple... She is a person that's precious to me." Rias and Akeno are left in disbelief by those sincere words.

Clenching her hands into fists, Rias muster a glare. "What has she done to you?" Nawin gaze at the photo on the ground. He picks his words carefully. Now the only thing he can do is move forward. "Nothing. She has done nothing but helped me, Rias." In a blink of an eye, Gremory appears in front of Nawin and snatch him by the collar. "Rias!" Akeno shouts.

Nawin and Rias stare at each other. One glaring with frustration and anger, while the other remains tranquil. "You've changed," Rias whisper "For the worse... I should have never listened to Issei that day and let you go. This sudden shift of opinion on Sayomi and your Mark... I notice that the suppression seal my brother placed on it is gone!" Nawin does not say a word as Rias continue. "I'm not letting you out of my sight now. We will depart to Vesarima, then I will take you to see my brother." Gremory's tone is all sharp and authoritative.

A faint smile form on Nawin's face. "I've changed? And what gives you such confidence it is for the worse?" "You are not yourself!" "And just like that, you now consider me worse?" Rias openly grits her teeth in frustration. Nawin's eyes begin sharpening as does his tone. "You are right, I have changed," he states and brings an arm up to grab Rias's wrist. "My eyes are wide open now, and I know what I must do... My future does not lie with the rest of you anymore."

Akeno releases a gasp of horror while Rias stare at Makasha with disbelief eyes. Those frightful words hit straight in their heart. Not letting go of the collar and further tightening the grip, Rias retains the fiery glare then taps her right feet to the ground to summon teleportation. Seeing that Gremory is intending to take him straight to Sirzech, Nawin rips her hand off him and lifts a right leg to kick her in the stomach, sending her hurling away. The teleportation stops mid-way and vanishes.

"Rias!" Akeno screams and watches her friend crash to the ground in front of her. She quickly rushes over and kneels by the side. A groan leaves Gremory's mouth as she shakily opens her eyes to look at Nawin. Those blood-red eyes stare piercingly at her.

"T-that mark," Rias coughs out and slowly stands back on one foot. "O-Ophis did that, didn't she?!" "O-Ophis?" Akeno whispers in shock and confusion at this news while Nawin remains impassive. "Indeed," Makasha points at the Mark on his neck. "She promises me power... Enough power to help me achieve my goal," "What goal?!" Rias spat, "To eliminate the Akumi."

"A-Akumi?" Akeno whispers with shock written on her face. An expression that Rias equally shares in. "W-why, Nawin-kun?" "Because all of you are blind to the terror they will become in the future," Nawin coldly states, "As the Akumi continues to achieve their goals in the shadows. The Devils, Fallen Angels, and Angels do nothing. Simply allowing them to become stronger. Giving them the chance to strike when the time comes. They have all gone blind during times of temporary peace."

Nawin's piercing eyes stare at Rias and Akeno. "Then there's you and the rest in the group... How many times have you all relied on me to get you out of danger... Count the times when Issei or I would fight through our blood, sweat, and tears while the rest of you take a backseat!" Those words that hold the truth in them hit Rias and Akeno deep in their hearts that they are unable to look at Makasha in the eyes. "You all are weak... Your blindness and reliance on me are the reason. And," Nawin frowns. "It has reached to the point it disgusts me."

Rias gasp when feeling a movement and looks up to see Himejima rushing towards Nawin. "Akeno!" With tears flowing from her eyes, Akeno stops in front of Nawin and wraps her arms around him. "T-this isn't you, Nawin-kun!" she cries out and pulls back to look at him the eyes "You would never say this! T-that Mark is corrupting you!"

Nawin's eyes remain sharp as he looks down at his ex-lover. "You know all those words are true," he monotonously whispers, "Look at yourself and Rias. I imagine the rest aren't much different... You all have spiraled down by my absence." "Because we worry about you!" Akeno shouts and clutches onto his arms tightly. "And what has that solved?" Nawin's eyes grow colder. "It's done nothing for me."

Akeno's entire body shakes as her expression shows immense sadness and regret. 'How can things have turn out like this? I-It's,' Akeno sobs as her head hangs low, her grip on Nawin loosens 'It's because of me... Because of my selfless actions that led to our separation, I push Nawin-kun to this.'

"It has nothing to do with you," Nawin sharply state and Akeno looks up in shock "You really still are ignorant, Akeno... You believe everything revolves around you. Here is the reality for you... My decision to join Ophis has no influence from you. That decision is made on my own. Nothing more."

"Do you realize what you are saying!" Rias forces herself to her feet and looks towards Nawin. "Khaos Brigade attacked Vesarima during the tournament. Since then, they have been labeled as an enemy not just to the Devil Faction but all Three Factions! The knowledge that the Inifinite Dragon God being their leader is known... You joining Ophis will mark you as an enemy to all Factions, Nawin!"

Akeno looks at Makasha in horror when hearing Rias's words. It dons on her just the kind of consequence Nawin would face if he goes to Ophis. However, both see Nawin's expression remaining stoic even after hearing that. "I am well aware, and it does not change my decision to leave." Pushing Akeno away to send her to the ground, Nawin shifts eyes to his King. "Nothing will change my mind. I am walking down this path because staying here with all of you..."

Rias and Akeno watch in horror as the Draconic Mark glows and start spreading across Nawin until it covers half of his body. "Will never give me this kind of strength," Nawin state with a dark smirk.

Slowly, crimson aura comes to life and swirls around Gremory. Nawin watches Rias staring at the ground, front bangs concealing her eyes. The aura becomes fiercer by the second, and the field begins shaking and splitting. "You've let Ophis corrupt you and have lost your way, Nawin" Rias utters and looks up to reveal those crimson eyes. "I don't want to, but I will snap you out of it."

Rias takes a step forward then begins striding toward Nawin. "Your goal of destroying the Akumi is admirable, however, going to Ophis to accomplish it is not something I will allow you to do!" Akeno grabs Nawin's leg to gain his attention. She wears a pleading look. "Please don't do this... T-this isn't you." Nawin's eyes remain cold. "Saying those words shows you don't even know me, Akeno."

Left numb by Makasha's response, Akeno grips loosen, and she drops to the ground when Nawin walks away. Grabbing the grass into her hands, Akeno cries out loud. After getting the confidence to stand back on her own feet and ready to face Nawin and apologize to him. Fate decides to reward her with this nightmare.

Rias glares in anger by what Nawin said to Akeno. She kicks off the ground to fly towards him. Clenching the right hand into a fist, she launches it forward, but Nawin stops it with his palm. "Stop hurting her," Rias scathingly mutters. "Hurt?" Nawin repeats and scowls, "I'm merely spilling the truth. She'll never grow otherwise" "Grow to what?!" "To not depend on me like a pathetic child."

Closing his fingers around Rias's fist. Nawin swiftly pulls her in and lift his knee to deliver a strike to the stomach. "Gah!" Rias's eyes widen as she coughs out air and saliva. The power behind the attack knocked all the wind out of her lungs, momentarily stunning her. Releasing Rias's hand, Nawin snatches her by the neck, lifting her off the ground.

Rias chokes by the lack of air entering her lungs, she desperately grabs Nawin's wrist and tries to pry him off. "Nawin-kun!" Akeno begs from the ground, "Please stop!" Makasha does not pay Himejima's words any mind and focus solely on Rias. "Wake up, Rias," Nawin sharply asserts, "Continue to remain weak and oblivious will lead the others to their doom."

Gremory's eyes widen by those words, and before she can muster a reply, Nawin releases her neck and pulls his hand down. Tightening to a fist, Nawin launches it upwards and strikes right at the center of Rias's abdomen that instantly knocks her out. With her already weakened and exhausted state, she is unable to remain conscious by such a heavy blow.

"Nawin-kun!" With Rias collapsing to the ground, Nawin turns around to see Akeno rushing towards him with lightning crackling around her hand. However, the moment Akeno sees Nawin's face, her entire body freeze, and her feet halts. Makasha stoically watches the fist cover in lightning hover inches away from his face.

"I-I can't..." The yellow lightning fades away as Akeno looks at Nawin and sobs. Her body is shaking. "I can't h-hurt you... N-not again." With her body losing strength from the conflictive emotions swelling in her heart, Akeno falls forward and leans on Makasha. Her face buries to his chest.

Seeing Akeno in such a state and listening to her solemn cry. Nawin's stoic expression cracks to reveal sadness in his eyes. Feeling her trembling form on him, Nawin is unable to resist the urge and brings his arms up, wrapping it around the girl that still holds a dear place in his heart. The Mark slowly recedes. Akeno continues to sob and brings both hands to the back of Nawin's head, clutching them tightly to have him close and keep her standing.

"... I'm sorry, Akeno." Akeno's eyes slowly widen by hearing those solemn words. She tries to pull back until a stiff and precise blow connects to the back of her neck. "N-Nawin-k-" With her vision going dark, Akeno collapses, but Nawin catches her before she can hit the ground.

Carrying Himejima on his arms, Nawin walks towards the largest tree in the area. Kneeling to one knee, he gently and carefully leans Akeno on the trunk. Standing up, Nawin shifts over to Rias and does the same, putting her next to the sleeping raven-haired.

Raising to his feet, Nawin stares at Akeno and Rias with great sadness in his eyes. Both girls before him hold a very special place in his heart. Without them, his life would drastically be different from what it is today. And for Nawin, that difference would be horrible. Because of Rias bestowing him a second chance in life and Akeno holding so much love for him. Through all their hardship and even now, she still loves him undeniably. They both change his life for the better. For that, he will always love them.

"Get stronger, Akeno, Rias," Nawin whispers with a faint smile. "Then, one day, hopefully... We can all return to the way it used to be." Closing his eyes and letting out a weak exhale. The weight of his decision is donning on him. Clenching tightly onto his knee for a moment, Makasha slowly rises to his feet. 'There is no turning back... For them,' Nawin stares at Akeno and Rias 'And everyone else. I will push on.'

Gazing at the orange horizon from the left, Nawin watch the sun slowly beginning to settle down. "Seems like we will have to depart earlier than planned." Shifting his gaze forward to look at the unconscious girls for one last time, Nawin vanishes in a black flash.

Time Skip

Cleaning the last plate with the sponge, Akame washes the soap away with water before placing it on the dish rack to dry with the rest of the utensils. The moonlight penetrates through the window and illuminating over the Knight's face, making her look up to gaze at the starry night sky.

"... Time sure has flown by today," Akame softly whispers, drying her hands with a towel as her eyes linger on the brilliant full moon. "It does, doesn't it?" Akame turns around to face her King. Nawin still remains at the table after they ate dinner. His chin rest above the left hand while in his right hand holds a book containing the history of the Second Great War.

Akame blinks in confusion by the title of the book. "Why are you reading that, Nawin-kun?" "Oh, I am actually less focus on the war and more on the aftermath." Leaning back against the counter, Akeno again blinks. "Aftermath?" Nawin glances over with a warm smile. "Yes. From this, I learned that the civilian party in the council was established a year after the peace treaty was signed by all three factions, which effectively ended the Second Great War." "Therefore, before the war ended, the council was composed of mainly the head of the royal clans?" "Yes," Nawin nods before shutting the book.

"It does make sense to why that is," Nawin asserts with eyes close as he places the book down on the table. "Peaceful time provided a chance for families of commoners to grow in wealth, which in turn made them gain influence. I have no doubt the Old Council took advantage of this and went to the wealthy families to recommend them the idea of holding a seat in the council."

Frowning, Nawin opens his eyes and looks at Akame. "Those three scoundrels were taken out of the council seats when Sirzech and the other Satans defeated the Old Satans. But like insects, they managed to crawl back into the Council seats by joining the Civilian Party." Akame narrows her eyes as she recognizes where her King is going. "You believe they will make a move when word of your departure is spread?" "Not a doubt in my mind."

Closing his eyes while gently tapping on the table with his index finger, Nawin takes a moment to think of what kind of move the Old Council would make when they learn of him becoming a deserter. "If I were to take a guess, they would try to sway everyone in that council room to put a massive bounty on my head." Opening his eyes, Nawin leans back on the chair and crosses his eyes. A dry chuckle leaves his mouth. "There's a chance I will end up with the biggest bounty in the bingo book. Since now, I have been protected by Sirzech, the Gremory, and my reputation... The moment I am seen as a traitor that will all be gone."

"Won't Sirzech still vouch for you?" Akame speaks up, and her eyes shift to the mark on Nawin's neck. "The thought of them pushing the reason for your betrayal is influence by Ophis is a possibility" "I considered that, but it won't excuse my decision, Akame. Even if Sirzech and others try to vouch for me. The result of my decision will be grave no matter what."

Nawin shifts his eyes for the moon glowing outside of the window. His eyes openly show frustration. "Honestly, I don't much care about that. I'm more upset that the rest of you will too be put up in that bingo book due to my actions." Leaning off the sink, Akame makes her way over the table and place a hand on her King's shoulder, giving it a soft squeeze.

Looking up, Makasha sees Akame wearing a gentle smile. "We all decided to follow you with our own freewill, Nawin-kun. All of us are prepared for those consequences. So please don't fret about that." Those words put a smile on Nawin's face. What his Knight said is true. Her, Misako, Erza, and Jellal are all coming with him even though they fully comprehend the danger of doing so.

Placing his hand over Akame, Nawin takes a deep breath and exhales. He looks up to the clock on the wall. The time has just hit Seven. "Best we start moving." Release Akame's hand, Nawin pushes the chair back to stand up. "I have no doubt Rias and Akeno will wake up soon," "Didn't you say both were in a fatigued state?" Akame question, "It wouldn't be unexpected that they remain unconscious till the next day." "They won't..." Nawin firmly asserts then turns around to face his Knight. "Don't forget that they are now aware of my decision. They will force themselves awake through sheer will."

Nawin exits the kitchen and heads to the front doors to put on his shoes. Akame follows him behind and does the same. "You packed everything you wanted?" Nawin asks, twisting the knob over and opens the door. "All the stuff that matters is in my dimension pocket," Akame notifies. "There is nothing else left here that I consider valuable" "Alright."

Watching Akame close the front door and locking it. "You can go ahead. I need to head somewhere before we meet up at Misako's." Placing the key inside the mailbox for the owner of the building to eventually find, Akame turns around and blinks in confusion. "Where is that you need to go, Nawin-kun?" "Home... I want to say goodbye to my sisters. I must."

Opening her mouth to speak, Akame pause and swiftly shuts it. She wanted to warn him against the idea as it will present a risk to Nawin running into his parents. However, to give comfort for his mind and heart, Akame understands that he needs to see his precious little sisters one more time. To say a proper farewell to them.

"I understand," Akame nods "I'll head to Misako's and wait for you there, Nawin-kun." "Alright. Help Misako get ready for everything. I won't be long."

After watching her King depart the stairs and disappearing from view, Akame shifts her gaze back to the front door. Those red orbs show sadness. 'So, you won't be seeing us off, Senna...'

Time Skip

Gently shutting the front gate, Nawin turns around and lifts his gaze to inspect the house. Almost all the windows are bright to show that the family is home. Shifting his upwards to the second floor, Nawin notices the only room that has the lights on is Asia's.

'... Strange,' A frown develops on Makasha's face as he notices something is amiss. 'Mom and Dad aren't here. I can only sense Lucy and Asia in the house.'

His parents' absence brew confusion in Nawin. They rarely are away during this time of night, especially after dinner. 'Could they be out looking for me?' That possibility crosses Nawin's mind, and it is a valid one. Scanning around the area, Makasha heightens his senses yet picks nothing up. His eyes momentarily slip to the Hyoudou's house. 'Issei isn't there...'

Conscious that he is running on borrow time, Nawin does not bother with thinking any further and starts making way to the front door. 'This does work to my advantage...' Grabbing the knob and twisting it, Nawin's expression turns solemn 'As much as I want to apologize and say goodbye to them. If either of them is against my decision to leave, I will be staying right here.'

Even though Nawin does not know just how truly powerful his parents are. He knows enough that they are vastly stronger than him. He still has not forgotten that Sirzech once admitted he himself would think twice before fighting Yao Makasha. That alone makes it clear to Nawin that his Mother is one of the strongest being currently standing in the supernatural world. If there comes the point where she uses force to keep Nawin from leaving, he would be powerless to oppose.

Pushing the front door open, the sound of the television instantly hits Nawin's ears as he steps inside before lightly shutting the door. Taking off his shoes, Nawin heads to the living room and stops by the entranceway. A small smile forms as he notices Lucy sitting on the couch. Her eyes are looking at the television, but it is clear her mind is elsewhere.

"Lucy." The instant that unmistakable voice from her brother enters her ears, Lucy snaps out of her thoughts and looks over to the entranceway with disbelief eyes. "B-Big bro?!" Lucy gasps out, and not a second later, she jumps out of the couch to rush towards Nawin.

With a brighter smile on his face, Nawin grabs the happy blonde from midair then pulls her into a warm embrace. "You are back!" Lucy shouts out with joy, flailing her legs around in the air. "Indeed, I am." Nawin pulls his head back to plant a soft kiss to the blonde's forehead, giving her his biggest and warmest grin. "Thanks for the lovely welcome, Lucy."

Being completely envelope with joy and relief of her brother's presence, Lucy can only match the grin with Nawin's then wraps her arm around his neck to hold him firmly in the hug. Placing a hand on the back of Lucy's head, providing soothing strokes while his other arm has a firm hold around her waist to keep her up. Nawin slowly ascends the stairs while Lucy buries her face on his shoulder. A smile of content wears on her face.

Stepping inside Asia's room, Nawin immediately shifts sight to the young blonde, still asleep on the bed. A feeling of relief washes over him when he notices how healthy she now looks compare to the last time he has seen her.

When stopping by the side of the bed, Nawin sinks to one knee and place Lucy on the soft surface. Reluctantly, Lucy slowly unwraps her arms around Nawin's neck then quietly watch him grabs the chair from Asia's desk. He rolls it over and takes a sit in front of her.

"So," Nawin starts in a soft tone as that warm smile remains on his face. He is overjoyed to see his dear sisters once again. Though he wishes it was under better circumstances. "How have you been doing, Lucy?" "I feel like I should be the one asking that question, Big Bro." A chuckle leaves Nawin's mouth by the witty response. "Well... I've been busy, Lucy. Very busy. And I'm sorry about that." Offering an apologetic smile, Nawin continues. "I know you must have been anxiously waiting for me to return home." Lucy slowly nods in response.

There's so much Nawin wanted to say to his sister. He desperately wishes he had more time to simply spend a day with her. Taking her out to go have some fun and do whatever she wants. With him deciding to leave, he wanted to give Lucy a day full of wonderful memories as a way to apologize. However, that is simply impossible now.

"Your eyes..." Nawin blinks and sees Lucy looking at him with concern. She finally takes notice of the state of his eyes. "Ah," he offers a reassuring smile "You need not worry about that, Lucy." Yet saying those words does not erase the worry in those striking sky-blue orbs.

"Lucy," Nawin gives an affectionate flick to the forehead and warmly smiles at the adorable blond pouting by his gesture. "Can you do me a favor?" Lucy blinks, releasing hands from her forehead and nods. "Get stronger... Become stronger than even I." Those words stun the blonde as she can only stare at her brother with wide eyes. "Can you do that for me?" Nawin softly asks, "W-why?" Lucy stutters out as her stomach twist by the ominous feeling swarming over her body.

Badly did Nawin want to just come out and explain everything to Lucy of his plan. To at least ease some of her worries, yet he can't. Doing that will make one of the purposes for his departure worthless. He needs her and everyone else to chase him. Let him become a goal that gives them the determination and drive to push them all to the next level.

"Lucy, there is something I must do that will require me to leave for a while." Those words leaving Nawin's mouth have Lucy immediately grab onto his arms, holding them sightly. That bad feeling her stomach is justified as tears begin forming around her eyes. Those nightmares she experienced for the past week resurface.

Unable to stomach that heartbreaking look on his sister's face, Nawin pulls her in an embrace. He listens to Lucy's cry in the silent room. His eyes momentarily drift to the sleeping Asia. He feels his eyes start watering but bites his lip to keep them from spilling. "Big bro," Lucy chokes out, "D-Don't let the mark take control."

Nawin's eyes slowly widen by those words. However, instead of questioning why she would say that, Nawin composes himself and pulls back to look at Lucy. Wearing a soft smile, he brings his right hand up to cup her wet cheek. "Lucy, you won't have to worry about that. Whatever this mark does to me, it will never be able to stop me from being your brother. I will always, always love you, and protect you."

Those sincere words shock Lucy, and even though his eyes are different, she can still recognize that familiar warmth and love in her brother's eyes. "W-why are you leaving?" she asks, "To become stronger... To get the power that'll help me achieve my goal." "B-but," Lucy's desperate plea is cut short when Nawin leans him to plant a kiss on her forehead. He pulls back and wears a bright grin. "Our path may diverge but know that no matter how gray it looks... I will love you always, Lucy. You and Asia made this pathetic brother's world brighter than he could ever hope for."

More tears build on Lucy's eyes while her grip tightens, she opens her mouth to speak, but she instantly slumps onto Nawin when he cuts her consciousness. Removing his right hand from the back of her head, Nawin gently scoops Lucy up then carefully lays her down on the free space next to Asia.

Brushing the front bangs away from her face, Nawin looks solemnly down at Lucy before shifting attention to Asia. Leaning his head down, Nawin plants a soft kiss to the young blonde's forehead. "Forgive me, Asia." Nawin is unable to stop a teardrop falling from his eyes as he gazes down at his sleeping sister. "Forgive me for not being here when you open those beautiful eyes of yours..."

Shifting up, Nawin stare at his sisters one more time before ready to turn around. However, he freezes when feeling a soft hand grab onto his. Looking back, Nawin softly gasps when seeing it is Asia's hand that's holding onto him. She is still, however, asleep.

"Onii-chan..." Asia unconsciously whispers out with fear in tone. As if afraid of her brother leaving her side. Seeing this almost breaks Nawin. Asia has always possessed high senses, and it had gotten only better when she turned blind. He can imagine even in her sleep, she senses his presence and his inner turmoil. Even in her unconscious state, she still worries about him.

Dropping to one knee and holding Asia's hand with both of his hands, Nawin muster up a smile. "Do not worry about me, Asia. I promise you that I will be back... We will be family once again when I bring her back with me." Giving a kiss to his sister's hand, Makasha feels her grip loosens on him. Placing her arm back on the bed, Nawin lets out a shaky sigh before rising to his feet.

Stepping outside of the room and switching the lights off, Nawin grabs the knob and then glances back to his sisters. With a heavy heart, he quietly closes the door.

Taking a moment to compose himself and biting his lip to keep the tears from escaping his burning eyes. Nawin exhales and walks toward the staircase. Ready to take the first step down the stairs, Nawin shifts his sight below only to let out a gasp of shock.

"Nawin..." Jonathan calm eyes look up at his Son from downstairs. Worse, the young Makasha glances over and sees his Mother leaning against the front door with arms crossed. She slowly opens her eyes and cocks her head up to stare directly at him.

Uncrossing her arms, Yao places the right palm on a wall, and Nawin instantly feels a surge of mana coursing around the house. A powerful barrier has been put up. Nawin is aware that a normal barrier cannot cut him from using the Speeding Shadow God, but he knows this is far from the standard one. And with his Mother being the one placing it, then she must be confident it will block him from teleporting away.

"Come down, Nawin," Jonathan kindly asks. Unlike with his Wife's stoic expression, he remains softly smiling in this tense household. Shifting his gaze to his Father, Nawin nods and descends the stairs at a moderate pace.

Reaching at the end of the stair has Nawin standing in front of his Father. "Da-" Nawin is silence by Jonathan placing a hand on top of his head. "So, you've decided on this path, son?" Blinking in shock by those unexpected words, Nawin stares at the collective expression on his Father's face. 'They know of my decision to go to Ophis...' Nawin is aware his parents are sharp, especially when it comes to him and his sisters. They may act like they are none the wiser, but in reality, they are very aware of things transpiring around them. Nawin gives an assertive nod, "I have to, Dad... For everyone and myself."

Jonathan looks deep into his Son's eyes and sees his mind has been made up. Even when saying goodbye to Lucy and Asia, then seeing them, Nawin still withholds that determination to go to Ophis. Seeing that put a smile of both sadness and relief on Jonathan's face. Slipping his hand down to Nawin's shoulder, he speaks. "I understand," "Will you stop me?" "We should," Yao assertive inserts and stops in front of Nawin. "But... We can't control your life anymore."

Yao looks at her Son with sadness. "When Miraya passed away, we moved to Thailand to help you heal. When you lost Tomo in that Gang war, we moved back here because memories haunted you. In many ways, though we did in believing it'll help you, we always influence the way you live. I..." Yao musters up a tender smile as she seizes Nawin's hands, "I can't bring myself to stop you from going down this path. The moment I saw your eyes and the determination within them. I knew there is nothing that'll change your mind. We won't stop you... We will not control which paths you shall take."

"Mom..." Nawin stares at his Mother's trembling form, tears begin gathering in her eyes. He can see just how hard this decision is for her. And he holds no doubt there is still a part in her that desperately wants to stop him. Seeing the tears falling down her face, Nawin pulls Yao into an embrace. Biting his lip to keep his tears from spilling, Nawin looks up when feeling a warm hand on his head. Jonathan gives an affection ruffle, his smile wanes in sadness. "You will be ok, Nawin. Your determination and treading this path with great friends by your side has given us enough comfort."

Jonathan smiles warmly then steps in to join the embrace. A single teardrop falls from his eyes. "You truly are a kind boy, Nawin. We are so proud of you." Gritting his teeth, Nawin is unable to stop the tears flowing from his eyes. Holding his Mother firmly and feeling his Father's comforting hand on his head, he silently sobs out all the emotions that have been bottling within.

"P-please," Yao shakily whispers, "Come home safe, Nawin" "I-I will. I promise you, Mom."

Ichiru Bakery

Seating on the bed in silence, Akame watch Misako zips up a duffle bag that contains all the items she wants and needs to bring along. Favorite clothes and plushes, sentimental pieces like photos. Unlike Akame, who holds very few items that she considers valuable, Misako has many that be from her family and friends. Therefore, it is not surprising that she would spend greater time in deciding what to take with her.

"Is that everything?" Akame asks with a soft smile. Misako takes a moment to scour around her colorful room, checking if there's anything that catches her eyes. "Yeah," Misako faces her friend with a bright smile, "I believe so" "Good."

Watching a black ripple form into reality before opening wide to reveal the black world of the pocket dimension. Misako places her hand on the head of the duffle bag then slides it into the doorway before shutting it from existence.

"What's wrong, Misako?" Akame voice her concern by the conflictive look showing on her friend's eyes. "Is..." Misako face the Knight "Is Nawin-kun going to be ok?" "You worry about his resolve or chance of an encounter with his parents?" "... Both."

Pushing herself off the bed, Akame makes way toward Misako then drops to her knees. "I understand your concern and trust me when I say I share it too. But let's be honest to ourselves," Akame wears a fond smile "Have we ever seen Nawin back down on something before?" "No," Misako replies with a brighter tone, "Indeed. You have the right to hold concern, but I believe he will find solace and even more determination by returning to his home. It's something he needs to do."

Standing up, Akame offers a hand then helps Misako to her feet. "Have you talked to Wendy?" Akame asks, retracting her hand, "Yeah... I told her only the important bits." A sad smile form on Ichiru's face. "She was very supportive of my decision, but it's still hard to take in that I won't be able to see her again for a long time." "She does possess a Sacred Gear within her," Akame notes. "Though, I can see Nawin-kun not wanting to bring her along with us. She is very young. Nawin-kun wouldn't be able to look past the guilt if he were to bring her with us." "Yeah," Misako nods, able to grasps that reason, "Nawin-kun would not want to put Wendy in that kind of path."

Suddenly, a surge of unmistakable warmth course through the girls' body, which has both of them turn to the window. "Nawin-kun!" Misako exclaims with bright eyes. "Yeah," Akame nods with a faint smile. She faces her friend. "Let's go, Misako" "Right!"

Rushing downstairs with haste to see her friend, the smile on Misako's face turns to shock and worry the moment she steps outside. "Dad, Mom?" she whispers out.

The atmosphere is tense in front of the store as both Akira and Moka stands across from Nawin. Akame slowly stops by Misako's side, her expression turns sharp at this scenario.

Akira's eyes narrow when noticing the faint redness in Nawin's stoic eyes. 'He was crying?' "Where were you?" "My home." That answer instantly paints a clear picture to both parents of what happened. "Your Mother," Moka softly speaks, "You met her?" "Yes," "And she is allowing this?" Akira sterner tone questions. Nawin slowly nods, "Yes." Both can hear the sincerity in that answer.

Even though outside, they remain calm inside, however, Akira and Moka are shocked that Jonathan and especially Yao is allowing Nawin to walk down such a path. Yet, aware of this fact and the decision of their dear friends. It gives ease for both parents as Akira and Moka hold high respect toward both Jonathan and Yao. They are not ones to be short-sighted. They always look far to the future and the many possibilities that it accommodates. It is one of the main reasons how their group, the Rebellion, continues to remain active through the grueling years as one of the most dangerous and infamous groups in the supernatural world. Led by a leader in Yao Makasha who garnered enough reputation to change the entire image of a women warrior while striking fear to even the Satans.

Akira steps forward as his eyes sharpen with intent. "We are allowing Misako to go down this path with you, as she wished. But let me make a single thing clear to you, Nawin." The Father glares precisely at Makasha's red orbs. "If anything happens to my baby girl while she's with you... I will never ever forgive you! Nothing in this world will stop me from coming after you if you fail to protect her! Even if I have to go against Yao or Jonathan to get my hands on you, then so be it. Got it?!"

However, what happens next stun Akira along with everyone else. Wordlessly, Nawin drops his knees to the asphalt. With fists leaning on the ground, he bows his head to the parents. To see a person such as Nawin doing this is beyond shocking. Especially for Akame and Misako. Their King is a rebellious man and will only show respect to people who earn it. He isn't shy to give his honest opinion to the world, such as during the conference before the tournament, when he spoke out about the Old Council in front of the entire supernatural world. He will cuss right in the face of a Satan like Sirzech Lucifer if they hold strong disagreements. All of that and more have Akame and Misako witness in some way with Nawin. Now to see him on his knees with his head down, they know his words next will speak volumes.

"When all of this is over," Nawin starts "I swear on my life that I will bring Misako back to her home safe and sound. She will be safe with me, I promise."

Moka smiles warmly at the young boy. Hearing those honest words from him erase the little worry left in her heart. She looks over and sees Akira's expression soften. "... Alright, I got it," he utters, shifting his eyes to the right, "Stand back up, Nawin. That sight doesn't suit you." Makasha lifts his head and nods, returning to his feet.

"Nawin-kun!" Misako comes rushing over to give a big hug with a wide grin accompanying her face. She cannot help but feel touched by what Nawin did. He would willing go down to his knees for her like that. "Misako," Nawin warmly smiles at the joyful girl and returns the embrace.

Watching his precious daughter, Akira, can see just how happy she is when with Nawin. Seeing that, even if he were to turn around and go against her wishes. He would not have the heart in him to do so. 'Your place right now is with him, Misako. For yourself and for Nawin, that is for the best.'

"Take good care of her, Nawin," Akira says in a softer tone, a smile wears on his lip. The pair turns to him as Misako releases the embrace. Nawin gives a firm nod. "Like I said, Akira. I will." "We know you will," Moka stops beside her husband. She looks at the Makasha with content. "Our dear daughter will be safe with you, Nawin."

Tears dripping from her eyes, Misako rushes to her parents and embrace them for one last time. "Thank you!" she cries out, "I will be fine with Nawin-kun and Akame-chan, Dad, Mom." Akira and Moka wrap their arms around their daughter. "Yeah," Akira whisper, "We know now, Misako" "Follow him and keep him on the correct path, Misako," Moka says. "I will," Misako pulls back to look at their face. A beautiful and bright grin forms on her face "I love you two" "We love you too, Misako" Moka leans in to give a kiss on the forehead. Akira affectionately ruffles his daughter's hair to get an adorable pout from her. He grins. "We will be waiting for your return, Misako. In the meantime, go explore the world while taking care of that idiot over there."

Her Father's jest but fond comment gets a hearty laugh from Misako as she wipes the tears from her eyes. She pumps her right fist and nods. "I will, Dad!"

Nawin watch with a smile as Misako returns to him and Akame. "You ready?" he softly asks, "Yep! I am set." Nawin nods then turn back to Akira and Moka. Both give him a nod, which he returns with his own.

"Alright, let's go," Nawin state and feels both Misako's and Akame's hand on his shoulders. With an energetic wave and a bright grin aim for her parents, Misako shouts, "Bye, Dad, Mom!" "Bye, dear/sweetheart!" Akira and Moka reply in unison then watch the three vanish in a black flash

Underworld

When appearing in Vesarima, Nawin did not waste time in heading for the South Gate. He has told both Erza and Jellal to wait not far from the Gate with the horses, remaining concealed from any eyes of the guards. The trio leaps roofs through roofs to get to their destination instead of walking through the exposed street.

Misako glances toward Nawin with some concern in her eyes. She can sense him wanting to quickly get out of Vesarima. "You don't need to give me that look, Misako." Nawin glances back with a comforting smile, "I simply want to leave here before drawing unwanted attention." He shifts forward and sees the South Gate nearing. "Things will really turn bad if Sirzech or Grayfia catches us."

"I doubt Ophis would allow them to interfere, Nawin-kun," Akame voice her opinion. "That is what I am exactly worried about," Nawin stiffly replies, his eyes narrow "If Ophis gets involve, then Vesarima will be in the crossfire. I won't allow myself to put these people in danger." Both Akame and Misako smile at that selfless comment from their King.

When reaching close to the gate, Nawin summons a shadow dagger and skillfully toss it high over the tall wall. He times it perfectly, so the group of guards station above the wall entirely misses the weapon flying over their heads. "... Grab on," Nawin says, then leans both arms back to allow Akame and Misako to grab onto the open hands. Not a moment later, they vanish in a black flash.

The dagger hits in the middle of the dense woods that surrounds the south side of Vesarima. The group shortly appears, and Nawin dispels the weapons, causing it to shatter from existence. "Ok," he softly utters before turning to the girls "Erza and Jellal should not be far with the horses. Follow me and keep a watch out for any guards that could be patrolling around here." Akame and Misako silently nods and does as told.

Running through the forest and dodging the guards that are patrolling within it. Soon, the three emerge from the trees and stops in an open area connecting to the main road.

"Yo." Nawin smile when seeing Erza waving at them while resting on a flat boulder. Jellal gives a welcoming smile to them before returning to feeding the four fully-grown horses. "Erza," Nawin speaks and watch his Knight jumps high off the boulder to land in front of them with grace. "Right on time, I see." "Huh," Erza smirk and rest a hand on her hip. "Changing the time to leave earlier was a bit irritating, but we were able to fetch the horses without much difficulty" "Not with money, I hope?" "Nah, don't worry," Erza points back at the animals as Jellal finishes feeding them then makes his way over. "We caught them in the wild. Tamed them so they won't give us any trouble," "Good."

Stopping by his partner's side, Jellal wears a friendly smile to the two girls behind Nawin. "Right," Makasha takes a step back to get out of the way, he gestures to his Knight and Bishop to introduce them. "Erza Scarlett, Jellal Fernandes. Meet Misako Ichiru, my Bishop and Akame, my Knight."

"So, you are my fellow Knight, aye?" Erza kindly smirk and shakes Akame's hand. "Yes, I am. A pleasure to meet you, Erza." Studying those red eyes, Scarlett raises an eyebrow in impress. 'This one's remarkably skilled. Those sharp eyes remind me of a cold assassin. Though I can see she possess tremendous loyalty to Nawin. The caution in her eyes when looking at Jellal and me prove it.'

Releasing her hand, Erza gives a warmer smile "Great to meet you too, Akame. I say we will get along well." Akame blinks by the bold remark though nods nonetheless, "I do hope so."

"Hello, Jellal-san! Wonderful to meet you!" Misako brightly grins at the man and energetically shakes his hand. Jellal heartily chuckles at the girl's enthusiasm. "Hello to you too, Misako. Though," he tilts his head with a curious expression, "May I ask what is this san you put after my name?" "It's a suffix," Nawin inserts, stopping beside Misako. "San is a Japanese honorific which is used by people who just met for the first time. A form of respect to address each other by their name" "Ah," Jellal nod in understanding "Interesting."

Releasing the girl's hand, Jellal opens his mouth to speak but suddenly pauses. Everyone swiftly turns around and goes on alert when hearing some bushes rustling within the forest. "Wait," Akame mutters and spreads her right arm up to the others, telling them to hold "That's..." Emerging from the woods is none other than Senna and Momo. Both are panting and sweating while carrying a large bag behind them.

"Senna?!" Nawin shouts in shock. "There you are!" Senna's face brightens, and immediately makes her way towards Makasha, stopping in front of him. "What are you doing here?!" Quickly anger envelops Nawin's face, which stuns Senna. Momo noiselessly stops behind her sister with a look of concern plaster on her face. The others stay silent, sensing this matter should be between the three.

"W-well Akame-chan told me you were leaving so," "So you decide to come along? Just like that?!" Nawin retorts, then point to Momo, "I used my Evil Piece to bring Momo back to life so she could continue to live in peace with you! I did not use it so you can bring her along with us!" "Well, I don't want to leave my best friend behind!" Senna loudly shouts back, stunning Nawin.

Panting deeply, Senna takes a deep breath and exhales. She glares up at Nawin. "How can Momo and I continue our life in Kuoh with a smile on our faces if you, Akame-chan, and Misako-chan are gone?!" Those words hit Nawin deep, his anger quickly dissipates. Senna takes his right wrist and lifts it up. The matching friendship bracelet that she gave Nawin on his birthday is on display in both his and her arms. "And how can you expect me to turn a blind eye and do nothing when you are preparing to walk down on such a dangerous path! If I didn't care enough then, I wouldn't have spent days making these bracelets for us!"

Every word that left Senna's mouth came from her heart. Her emotions are genuine, and Nawin can see his decision to keep her out of the loop bothered her greatly. "Senna," he speaks in a softer tone, "I'm sorry for not personally talking to you about this. But" "But it is too dangerous," Senna cuts in. "Nawin-kun, the normal life I wanted is most likely dashed when those mercenaries attacked us. Momo and I talked for hours about our choices, and it became clear what's best for us. Either we remain in Kuoh and wait in fear for another mercenary to be sent after me and with that putting Momo's parents in danger. Or go with you to help you on this journey. Be with you, Akame-chan, and Misako-chan. All of us together and away from Kuoh will leave my whereabout difficult to trace by my clan."

Senna looks intently at Nawin in the eyes. "Hearing that and seeing us here... You should know which choice we went with." "... Both of you will be labeled as criminals. You will be hunted by mercenaries and bounty hunters from every corner" "We know," Momo finally speaks up and stands beside her sister. She wears a knowing smile to show they are both aware of the consequences. "However, that won't stop Senna and me from going with you, Nawin-kun. Our bond as friends isn't that fragile."

Nawin closes his eyes as silence falls. A breeze carries through and blows by the group to create a faint howling noise. Anxious, Senna and Momo stare at their friend, holding their breath. Misako holds both hands together in front of her chest, her eyes darting between Nawin and the sisters with nervousness. At the same time, Akame's sight solely focuses on Nawin, patiently waiting for his answer. Erza and Jellal remain quiet and simply wait in curious for their King's response.

Slowly, a warm smile form on Makasha's face. He opens his eyes and looks at the sisters. "Alright. If that is what you both whole-heartedly want, then I'll acquiesce."

Instantly, Senna's face brightens, and with a squeal of joy, she pounces onto Nawin for a big hug. "Thank you," she whispers to his ears. Nawin wraps his arms around and softly nods. "Glad to have you with us, Senna," he softly replies. Setting her down to the ground, Nawin watch with a smile as Misako gleefully rush over and embraces both Senna and Momo.

"Welcome to the team, Senna, Momo!" Misako happily exclaims. She is ecstatic that her two close friends will come along with them. "Ehehe," Senna looks just as overjoy as Ichiru and returns the embrace. "Glad we can stick with Misako-chan!" "It's great that we are all together," Momo comments before they pull back.

Senna's grin widens when seeing Akame stops beside Misako. "Happy to see me again?" she cheekily asks. The Knight rolls her eyes but cannot hide the happiness in those red orbs. She cracks a faint smile. "It's good to have more friends on our side." Senna giggles in agreement while Momo simply tilts her head and warmly smiles.

"So, two more are joining, huh?" Erza stops beside Nawin with her arms cross. "Yeah... I can't decline after hearing their reasons," Nawin answer. Erza wordlessly nods, not having anything to add to that. She glances back to see Jellal readying the horses. "Best we get moving, no?" "Yeah," Makasha nods as his eyes sharpen, "The sooner we are far from Vesarima, the better."

When finally seeing the horses, Senna brightly grins and instantly appears beside Nawin, seizing his right hand. "I'll be riding with Nawin-kun!" she exclaims. Everyone looks at her with amusement except for Misako, who pouts in disappointment as she wanted to ride with Nawin. "Well," Erza hops on her horse and smirk at the bubbling girl. "Things won't be boring with you," "Oh!" Senna realizes that she has not properly introduced herself to the two other members.

Stopping beside Erza, she extends her arm up. "Senna Hinamori! It's nice to meet you..." "Erza Scarlett," the Knight takes the girl's hand and shakes "Pleasure to meet you, Senna. And your sister was Momo, right?" Erza releases the handshake then looks over to the other girl with a bun "Yes, Momo Hinamori. Pleasure," "Likewise."

"Alright," Nawin claps his hands to gain everyone's attention. "We need to get a move on, everyone. We have a long way to go to reach Land of Ends." The group nods in agreement and swiftly hops on the horses. Misako rides with Akame while Erza offers a hand to Momo to climb up and ride with her. Senna holds firmly onto Nawin as he stirs the rein to have the horse face the main road.

"Jellal, you mind taking the lead?" Nawin asks. "Sure thing. Full speed?" "To start, yes." Everyone moves their horses on the main road and ready to set off. Jellal holds the rein with a firm grip, though he halts for a moment and glances back to see Nawin gazing towards Vesarima. All of them stare at him and can just read the word in those red orbs. 'Goodbye.'

Feeling a comforting squeeze round his waist, Nawin shifts down to see Senna looking at him with a supportive smile. His expression softens and is able to muster up a smile of his own. "Alright, Jellal," Nawin looks ahead and give the nod to his friend "Let us move out," "Ok."

Snapping the rein, Jellal's horse kicks up its front feet with loud neigh before dashing off in a full gallop. The other does the same and follows closely. Nawin looks onwards far into the night. Somewhere beyond the horizon lies the Land of Ends. The place when he reaches will truly begin the gray path he plans to walk on. His life will forever be change. Nawin's expression sharpens. 'There is no turning back... I will walk down this path until the very end.'
