Chapter Fifty-Four
Rory said good-bye to Lorelai. Lorelai was busy having a quick dinner before she headed back off to work to make much of a fuss. Her mother said good=bye with a wave and a strained smile.
"Have fun, kid. Be safe. Make sure to stay within the yellow lines at all times."
"Will do," said Rory with a jaunty salute. She tried to act up beat. But the truth was she was nervous. This was the first time that she would stay over a guy's place for the two whole evenings. She knew that Lorelai didn't know that… but that didn't stop Rory's insides from twisting at the thought of being alone with Logan—and just Logan—for two days.
Francie was parked in the driveway of Rory's home. When she entered the car Francie gave her a once over. "Nice. That's a good look. It's comfortable yet nice enough for you to wear when you meet up with Logan at my house."
Rory wore a pair of jeans and a cashmere cream sweater. She wore a pair of tall brown riding boots. Her jewelry was a gold necklace, earrings, and bracelet that she received from her grandmother on Christmas.
"Thanks. I figured I could change into more 'going out' type-of-clothes at Logan's dorm depending on what he wants to do tonight. I kept my make-up really minimal, too."
Francie nodded. She even looked a little proud. "Good call. You can always re-do your make-up before you go out tonight. I suggest something sultry… like a smokey-eye make-up look. And don't worry. Logan will definitely want to go out tonight. He's like that. He has a reputation to up hold, you know?"
Rory nodded. "I've heard. I just hope that I can keep up with him."
"Just remember… 'beer before liquor makes you get sicker. Liquor before beer you're in the clear.'"
Rory sighed. "Francie, you've said that one to me before."
"Still rings true."
"I'll keep that in mind."
Rory only had to wait around ten minutes at Francie's mansion before Logan pulled up into the driveway. She said 'good-bye' to Francie and headed out of the door with a wave.
Logan wasn't pulling any punches. He got out of his side of the car to open Rory's passenger-side door. Rory put her two travel bags in the back before she went inside the black BMW to sit down.
"Are you ready to check out Yale?" he questioned.
Rory smiled. "I couldn't be any more ready even if I tried."
