Jorah doesn't know when to stop. Where to go.
He is moorless. Wandering with no guide but the stars above. They all point him in a direction he cannot go.
It's a long trek back to civilisation. Each hour bleeds into the next, a never-ending cycle. The sun beats down on him, a harsh punishment from the gods for his sins.
He has no place left in the world. He could return to Westeros now if he wished, but he would never be welcomed back in his homeland. He had been foolish to believe that that could ever be the case, but there is even less motivation for it now.
He has no one to blame but himself. He should never have sold those stories to Robert Baratheon. But the song of home had been so sweet to his ears, born from so much pain and loss.
Where can he go? Who would ever want a man so mired with betrayal?
How can he ever hope to get over Daenerys Targaryen? Not just in his hopeless feelings for her, but in the glory of all that she is? The kind of ruler the whole world would be glad to serve, who has the astonishing ability to bring hope to even the most cynical of hearts.
He's numb inside. Dead. He goes through the days in a haze of joylessness.
He'd always thought that he'd be by Daenerys' side when she returned to Westeros. He could have been a worthy advisor to her, despite what Ser Barristan believed, for he has knowledge of the land and, more importantly, true knowledge of her, of the things that mean the most to her. She will be a firm ruler, but he has never been afraid to disagree with her. She is not a tyrant. She's always valued counsel on things she is less knowledgeable of.
He'd hoped that his dirty secret would be taken to the grave, that he would never have to reveal the worst of himself.
His carefully constructed dreams have crumbled around him.
He will never go home again.
