05x10, 'Mother's Mercy'
Drogon carries her to safety. How could she have doubted him? He's the wildest of her children and has caused destruction that Rhaegal and Viserion have not, but he's the biggest and most protective. She should have known that her instincts were right.
But he's also been injured in the chaos, and he is disgruntled about that. When she tries to help him he snaps at her with those vicious jaws and she knows better than to test his patience. She wanders away with a roll of the eyes, intent on having a quick scout of her surroundings to see if there's anywhere she can head to for help or provisions whilst Drogon decides whether he wants to take her back to Meereen.
But no. It's only a vast, empty landscape.
And her luck doesn't improve.
Their war cry echoes around the hills. A sound she used to be so accustomed to.
Dothraki. The biggest horde she has seen since Drogo's day.
They stampede towards her in ever decreasing circles, yelling all the while.
Dany has a moment of clarity.
This is an impossible situation to wriggle out of, but Jorah will come for her.
He saved her life just yesterday. Has returned doggedly. He will not leave her in this place surrounded by enemies.
As the Dothraki circle closet, she wriggles her pearl ring from her finger. The last Targaryen heirloom. The one she squirreled away from Viserys. The one she'd lied about losing when he'd wanted to pawn it for a silver stag, and he'd beaten her for her stupidity.
Taking a deep breath, she drops it into the long grass.
Dragons have their songs, Dothraki have their battle hollers, but this is the melody she will mark the world with and she has faith that Jorah will hear it.
