06x05, 'The Door'

Jorah lies awake all night, wondering what the morning will bring.

No. He knows what it brings, deep down in his heart.

The end of everything.

By not sleeping, he's trying to delay the inevitable.

Tomorrow he will part company with Daenerys for the last time. He will tell her the truth about the greyscale, wish her luck on her endeavours to reclaim the Iron Throne, then disappear into the wilderness to end it all.

It will be hard, never seeing her again. Never knowing if she achieved their dream. But he has sinned many times. Perhaps this is the justice he deserves, the justice he escaped when he fled Westeros and Ned Stark's sword.

He just hopes she forgives him. Despite what is to come, he knows he could face it with no regrets if he had her forgiveness. He'd have peace.

The sky outside lightens to a pastel pink, a soft, welcoming sweep of the septon's brush that belies what is to come.

The Stranger looms large over his shoulder, but Jorah turns away from it now. He will greet it soon enough.

Right now he has one last chance to meet with the Mother, the Warrior, the Maiden, the divinity that is Daenerys Targaryen, and he needs to cling to that, to absorb her grace, her strength, her courage before death takes him in its iron grip.
