Being inflicted with greyscale has given Jorah a sense of recklessness that was missing before.
He was always prepared to lay his life down for Daenerys', but he's always advised her with caution. For the last few weeks he's been plunging headfirst into every precarious situation lain in his path.
But Daenerys has given him a task.
He has so much to do to redeem himself if he is granted the chance.
As he's waiting for the ship, he spies a red priestess on the far corner of the dock. With nothing else to do, he meanders within earshot.
Valyrian is something he can speak no more than a simple, rudimentary sentence in, but spending so much time around the Unsullied, the residents of Meereen, and Daenerys herself had given him a passable grasp of understanding.
The red priestess is saying something about Daenerys now. Stringing together the few words he comprehends, he concludes that she is spreading good tidings. He is pleased. With Meereen descending into chaos thanks to the Sons of the Harpy, any extra help is welcome… though he doesn't trust the religious zealots. There's always something they want in return.
His faith was obliterated as a young boy. How could the gods be real if they were cruel enough to rip his mother from this mortal world so young? Why would the gods leave a boy and his father broken apart? How could anyone worship the gods when they encouraged such injustice?
If the worst should happen to him, he hopes there's nothing beyond. If the gods have made this world so punishing, why should anything afterward be different? He's had enough of the pain and suffering. When it ends—if it ends—he wants that to be the end.
His one regret would be never seeing Daenerys sit the Iron Throne. But he can take comfort from the fact that she will get there. He can see no other ending.
And whatever there is beyond this life, he will cling to his pride in her. In the end, it might be all he has.
