Chapter 21: Lunch date

With Diane now gone, Jet looks down in slight sadness as he already felt uncomfortable being alone in a new place. Miss Belltale kneels down to his level to console him.

"There there it's alright Jet. Your mommy will be back this afternoon." Miss Belltale said softly as she patted his head

"Okay." Jet replied sadly

"Now let's try to cheer up. Because you are going to have lots of fun here. Believe me." Belltale smiled

"Really? I am?" Jet asked perking with excitement

"*giggles* That's right. I will help you in anyway for your first day. In fact it's time for class to start so follow me." Belltale said as she started walking towards the sitting carpet

Jet happily follows his anthro squirrel teacher wondering what interesting things are in store for him today.

"Alright children it's time to start! Everyone gather around here at the carpet!" Belltale called out getting all the kid's attention

Immediately all the anthro animal kids stopped what they were doing and ran over to the sitting carpet where Miss Belltale took a seat in a one person fabric armchair facing all the kids.

"Alright everyone have a seat! I have a special announcement to make!" Belltale announced

Belltale waited until all the 17 kids sat down on the carpet facing her with eager listening ears.

"Alright everyone. Today we have a new student in our classroom today." Belltale smiled

"Oh a new kid?" A raccoon boy asked

"Hold up we have a new kid!?" A skunk boy asked

"Who is it Miss Belltale!?" A bunny girl asked

With that Miss Belltale gestures for Jet to come and stand next to her and face all the kids in front of him.

"Everyone, this is Jet. Let's all say hi to him shall we." Belltale said

"HI JET." All the kids said in unison as they all waved at him

"Um...hi." Jet shyly waved back

"Now Jet here is a little wolf and he will be joining our class from now on and we are all gonna try to make him feel warm and welcome here." Belltale smiled

"Cool another wolf!" A little wolf girl blurted out

"Awesome! He looks cool!" A border collie dog boy asked

"Jet honey why don't you go ahead and tell the class a little about yourself." Belltale encouraged

"Oh...o-okay." Jet said

"If anyone has any questions for Jet, feel free to ask." Belltale said

"Where you from Jet?" The bunny girl asked

"Well...I'm from here in Los Angeles." Jet answered

"What's your favorite food Jet? Mine is burgers!" The border collie asked

"My favorite food is macoroni and cheese." Jet answered confidently

"Hey Jet what do you like to do for fun?" The wolf girl asked

"I like to ride in fast cars and go fising with my babysitter Mr. Wolf." Jet with even more confidence

As all the kids fired away their questions, Jet was slowly growing more comfortable as he was already getting used to the friendly atmosphere he was in.

"Alright kids that should be enough questions now. Jet why don't you go ahead and have a seat with the others and we can get started on our day sweetie." Belltale smiled

With that Jet goes to take a seat on the carpet with the other kids. They even clear a spot for him nicely.

"Welcome to our class Jet." The bunny girl said as she gave Jet a friendly pat on his shoulder

"Thanks." Jet smiled back

"Wow everyone here is so nice. I think i'm gonna like this." Jet said in his mind

"Alright class let's start our day with a little morning story time." Belltale smiled as she pulled out a story book to read to her class

Meanwhile on the seashore of LA

Diane Foxington was currently at a seaside restaurant with Mr. Wolf.

Shortly after Diane dropped Jet at pre-school, Wolf called her and invited her to have a lunch date with him which she gladly accepted. Right now they were sitting together at an outdoor candle lit table overlooking the beach and the ocean. Diane ordered a deep fried calamari plate while Wolf ordered a fried fish. Together they ate as they happily chit-chatted.

"So you finally told him huh." Wolf said

"Mmhmm. He now knows i'm his mommy. Honestly I wish you were their to see his reaction when I showed him the adoption certificate. His heart was exploding with pure joy." Diane smiled

"Hehe I can picture it right now. I gotta say Diane you are the greatest fox to ever walk this great earth and I'm really honored to have you on this lunch date." Wolf complimented

"*giggles* Thanks Wolf. You're too nice." Diane blushed

"So umm I'm curious. What do you think Jet will grow up to be?" Wolf asked

"Hmmm...Well I know for sure that he certainly won't grow up to be a bad guy like us. I already showed him my lair and told him everything." Diane said

"Oh really."

"Yep. I feel in my heart that he will grow up with a safe and happy future." Diane said

"Well that's great. In fact maybe he might grow up to work on cars since I gave him a ride in the getaway vehicle." Wolf said

"Maybe. Or he might grow up to be a police officer and help people." Diane said

"Well whatever he might grow up to be, it's all up to him to find his passion and follow it. It will come sooner." Wolf assured

"You're right. The old 'follow your heart' saying." Diane smiled casually

"*chuckles* Anyways cheers to us on having this lovely lunch date together and you being a brand new proud mother." Wolf smiled as he raised his wine glass

"*giggles* Yes. Cheers to us." Diane smiled as she raised her glass next

*CLINK*

For the next few minutes Wolf and Diane ate and chit chatted until the waiter showed up with the bill.

"Your check sir." The waiter said as he laid the paper on the table before walking away to tend to other customers

"I got this Diane." Wolf said reaching for the check

"Actually Wolf you've done a lot for me so I should pay for the bill." Diane said as she also reached for the check

"Please Diane I invited you on this lunch date. I totally got th-"

"I really insist Wolf. I be honored to pay for our meal."

Diane and Wolf debated with each other on who should pay for the check until Wolf realized something was off.

"Wait! Is it me or does this check feel pretty fuzzy?" Wolf asked

"Really Wolf I should-...What? Fuzzy?" Diane asked confused

They both looked down on the table and to their surprise their hands were touching when they both reached for the check. In other words they were accidently holding hands.

There was 4 seconds of cute silence before they both pulled their hands away.

"Oh umm...oops. *giggles*" Diane giggled as she blushed

"Woah *chuckles*" Wolf chuckled as he also blushed
