Conditional—09x06, 'The Last War'
Chaos. Chaos everywhere.
Jorah brings Heartsbane up to block a slash from a Lannister soldier, ducks, buries his dagger into the man's neck to the hilt.
As he gags on blood, Jorah pushes him aside. When he shakes his head, droplets of blood fly. He doesn't think he's that badly hurt, but he supposes he won't know the true extent of it until the battle is won and the adrenaline stops coursing through his veins.
More Lannister soldiers spill forward.
He flashes back to the Long Night, to the cold piercing his face and his lungs, the growing certainty that his death was impending, knowing only that he must keep going until Daenerys was safe.
That he was facing the end of the world with the only woman he would want to face it with.
As if summoned by his thought of her, a dragon screeches overhead.
The charging Lannister soldiers stop and scatter.
Seconds later, Drogon lands with the sound of a miniature earthquake. Jorah looks up to find Daenerys sliding down her child's spines.
"What are you doing!?" he shouts up at her.
"Saving you!" she calls back.
"Get back into the sky!"
She's by his side in a few strides, unsheathing his old sword. "No."
"There's no need to take a risk! The Red Keep will be yours soon when we've flushed Cersei Lannister out and you can take your rightful place on the throne! Get back on Drogon and wait for the signal like we agreed—!"
"No. I'm staying right here. It's time that I fought beside you all. To be prepared to risk my life as you're risking yours."
As if in agreement, Drogon gives a mighty roar…and with the little room there is spreads his wings and takes off into the smoky King's Landing air.
He'd curse her stubbornness if they weren't about to be overrun by Lannister red. Instead he raises his sword and Daenerys does the same beside him; they took their first steps on this journey together and now, whatever happens, they are about to take their last.
