Cassie stepped out wearing a purple one-piece bathing suit. Frost thought she looked gorgeous in it, so much so that she began to blush. She could see Cassie's toned muscles through it.
"Holy crap, Cassie. You look...great!"
"Thanks...it's a nice bathing suit. Who made it?"
"Our CEO Sindel Kahn designed it." explained Frost. "Perfected for mobility."
"Interesting...though, it is a little tight."
"It...may have to do for now."
"That's fine. I can make a few adjustments later." said Cassie. "Let's get started."
Later that day...
Johnny and Mileena walked back behind the building to meet Cassie. They saw her with Frost who was also wearing a bathing suit and drying off with towels.
"Hey ladies, what've you been up to?" asked Johnny.
"Oh, I was just helping Frost out with her project." said Cassie.
"Really? Interesting." said Mileena. "What exactly were you doing?"
"Practicing for a very kick-ass presentation." said Frost. "Prepare to be amazed."
"I look forward to it, Ms. Frost." said Mileena. "And my mother and father are as well."
"They're coming too!?" asked Frost, surprised that they'd be interested. Mileena nodded.
"Oh yes. They are very intrigued at what you have in mind."
"I won't disappoint them. You have my word." said Frost confidently.
"You ready to go, Cass?" asked Johnny.
"Yep! Just let me get changed."
"You can keep the bathing suit, we have a lot of them anyway." said Frost.
"Cool!"
Cassie left and got changed back into her clothes.
"I'll see you tomorrow, Ms. Frost." said Cassie. Frost smiled and nodded.
"See you then, Cassie."
Johnny, Mileena and Cassie began to walk to Johnny's car. He'd be driving and meeting Shao Kahn at the course.
"It is nice of you to help out Ms. Frost, Cassie." said Mileena. "I know she's been having trouble finding help. I hope this presentation will be enough for her to get her old job back."
"She has a good idea." said Cassie, looking away. "I think it's going to be really cool."
They got into the car and began the drive to the golf course.
They eventually reached Outworld Green, a lavish, very well groomed golf course. After parking, they met with Shao Kahn and Shang Tsung, both wearing golf attire.
"Ah! Mr. Cage! So glad to see you!" said Shao Kahn happily. He noticed Cassie and was surprised. "Whoa! Mr. Cage, if you don't mind me saying, you didn't tell me what a beautiful young woman your daughter was!"
"Oh uh...heh heh." said Cassie, embarrassed.
"Father, don't embarrass her." said Mileena.
"What? I was just being polite!"
"It's alright. Thank you, Mr. Kahn." said Cassie.
"Anyway," said Shao Kahn. "You remember Shang Tsung."
Shang Tsung stepped forward.
"Very much delighted. Cassandra, I don't think I've had the pleasure." he said shaking Cassie's hand. Cassie was nervous.
"Uh...likewise."
"I'm going to get changed." said Mileena. She left for the clubhouse.
"You're going to love this course, Mr. Cage." said Shao Kahn. "I know you will."
Mileena returned, wearing a pink and white golf dress, high socks and golf shoes. She had her hair tied into a ponytail. Johnny thought she looked really cute.
"Whoa Mileena, I love the outfit." said Johnny. Mileena smiled.
"I've been golfing with Father ever since I was little." said Mileena.
"Uhh...is this going to be a competitive game?" asked Johnny.
"You better believe it." said Mileena seriously. Johnny gulped.
"This I gotta see." said Cassie.
They took a couple of golf carts and went to the first hole.
"I'll have you take the honor of the first swing." Shao Kahn said to Johnny.
Johnny took out his driver, set up the ball, and took a swing, landing it near the green.
"Nice shot, Mr. Cage." said Shao Kahn. He took out his driver, a gargantuan hammer shaped club.
"Holy smokes..." said Johnny, astonished. Shao Kahn set up the ball and slammed it, taking part of the grass with it, and landing it closer to the hole. Shao Kahn laughed.
"What fun!"
"Great shot, sir." said Shang Tsung. "Mileena, I believe it is your turn."
Mileena shot next, hitting it towards the green. Shang Tsung then went, hitting it towards the green as well.
The holes went on like this for a while with it being a very close game, but with Shao Kahn in the lead. He was tempted to throw it and let Johnny win to make him happy, but his selfish ways got the better of him, and he had to show them that he was "The emperor of golf". After him, it was a three-way tie. They decided to unwind at the clubhouse with drinks.
"Damn Mr. Kahn, that was something else." said Johnny, impressed.
"Ha ha ha! I am the emperor of the course!" he answered. "But you played very well, Mr. Cage."
They continued to enjoy their drinks. Johnny had something on his mind, and couldn't keep it in any further.
"Mr. Kahn, I apologize if I'm speaking out of line, but I can't help but feel this outing isn't just for leisure." he explained. Shao Kahn nodded.
"You have good instincts, Mr. Cage." answered Shao Kahn. "Indeed, there is a proposition I have for you."
"What did you have in mind?" asked Johnny, intrigued.
"I believe Outworld Demolition and your productions can join in a deadly alliance...deadly for the competition. I wish for Outworld Demolition to be the exclusive service for tearing down and demolishing the sets for your motion pictures. I have been in this business for many, many years Mr. Cage. I can promise that all of your sets will be neatly knocked down with efficiency, speed, safety and professionalism. We have great skills here, Mr. Cage. And I wish for them to be put to good use."
"Hmm..." said Johnny thinking about it. "I like your style, Mr. Kahn. I'll put in a good word for you with the executives, and tell them you have my full endorsement."
Shao Kahn's face lit up, and Shang Tsung lightly smirked.
"Splendid! Absolutely splendid! You will not regret this, Mr. Cage!" Shao Kahn said excitingly. "How about another round of drinks?"
"Alright, I guess I'll have to call my driver to send out for us, and another guy to take the car home." said Johnny texting on his phone.
"By the way Cassandra..." said Shao Kahn. "I am intrigued by Ms. Frost's project. What exactly does it entail?"
"You're just going to have to wait and see, Mr. Kahn." said Cassie. "It wouldn't do it any justice to simply state it."
"Very well. Ms. Frost has a lot of talent. I just hope she is working well with you. It has been difficult for her lately."
"No problems there, chief. We've been working together just fine."
"Splendid. I look forward to it. As does Sindel."
"And as do I." said Shang Tsung. "I'm always interested in the latest technology."
They finished up their drinks and decided to call it a day. They left for the cars.
"I'll call my producers tomorrow about the endorsement." said Johnny.
"Excellent. I look forward to hearing their answer." said Shao Kahn.
They said their goodbyes and drove away.
"So, what do we want for dinner?"
"Meat!" said Mileena. Cassie couldn't help but quietly snicker.
"I'm sure the chefs can satisfy that request. How about a meat lovers pizza?"
"Yes!"
"That okay with you, Cass?"
"Sure."
"By the way, Cassie. If uh...if you're interested, after dinner we could spend some time and work out. Maybe a little training." suggested Mileena. Cassie looked away, a little bashful.
"Well...I...I don't know."
"It is alright. It's just I hear you train quite often, and I wouldn't mind joining you. After all, I train every day as well."
"I...I guess it's okay."
"Splendid."
They drove back to the mansion. After a bit of a rest, Johnny had the chefs prepare a few pizzas with fresh meat toppings. The talk was a bit more friendly this time, and after a while, they finished.
"So Cassie, how about that training session?" asked Mileena.
"Okay..." said Cassie, still slightly unsure. Mileena smiled.
"Sounds fun." said Johnny. "If you need me, I'll be upstairs in the office. I'm going to give a call to the executives."
Johnny left for the upstairs. Cassie and Mileena went down to the training room.
"So, how do you normally begin?" asked Mileena.
"Some cardio." said Cassie.
"Okay."
The two of them stepped on to the treadmills and jogged for a while. After that, they lifted some weights, working out their muscles. They then did pull-ups and curl-ups, working out their abs. As they were doing this, Cassie asked a question.
"Are these part of your normal routines, Mileena?" asked Cassie.
"Sort of." said Mileena. "This technology definitely makes it easier."
Cassie snickered. She stopped and stood up.
"Of course, now that we're warmed up, now comes the part where we do a little fight training." she said.
Cassie and Mileena began practicing with some punching bags. Cassie looked over at Mileena, who jumped on hers and bit it open, releasing its contents all over the floor.
"Holy crap...what are you trying to do, kill people?"
"You can never be too careful, Cassie. You never know when someone is going to attack you."
"Uh...I guess."
"Do you use any weapons, Cassie?"
"Oh...well, I use guns, a retractable baton...and I have certain robots I've been trying out."
"Gadgets...how interesting. I also noticed you have a certain power."
"Oh that...yeah, I think I got it from my dad. Even he doesn't know where it's from."
"He had told me. You're very skilled, Cassie."
"Thanks...and you are as well."
"Tell me...what exactly have you and Ms. Frost have in store?"
"I promised her I wouldn't tell anyone." Cassie said with a smile.
"Very well. I look forward to it."
After working out, they decided to rest and cool down on the gym benches.
"...Mileena?"
"Hm?"
"I'm sorry if...I was rude earlier."
"It is alright, Cassie. I forgive you."
"It's just...dad's relationships with other women were always short term. He had a habit of sleeping around. So it annoyed me that you'd expect to be with him a while...and that was my fault. He and my mother have never seen eye to eye, and she was always busy with her work in the Special Forces. I was already an adult so I got to choose who to stay with. I chose dad because I didn't want to go into the Special Forces...and that really rubbed mom the wrong way. She's so invested she rarely calls anymore or makes time to see us."
"Ahh...I understand, Cassie. My parents don't always see eye to eye. Father...tends to be stubborn and selfish on occasion, but he loves mother dearly. There has been times of separation between them."
"Really?"
"Oh yes. It is a struggle sometimes, but...they make things work in their own way."
"Yeah..."
"Trust me. Your father cares for me deeply. I can tell. And I care for him deeply as well. I know you have your worries, but I'm not someone who's in it to have a moment of fame with a motion picture star. I only seek long term relationships."
"Okay..." said Cassie, feeling slightly better. Mileena smiled.
"I think we've worked out enough for today, Cassie. If you'd like, we can train another time."
Cassie lightly smiled. Deep down, she enjoyed her time with Mileena.
"Sure."
The two got dressed into more comfortable clothes and went upstairs. They were greeted by Johnny.
"Hello ladies. What'd I miss?"
"A lovely training session." said Mileena.
"Glad you two are getting acquainted."
"Dad..." said Cassie, embarrassed.
"Anyway, I'm beat. Had a lengthy call with the execs. Looks like they're willing to hire Outworld Demo for work."
"That's great news!" Said Mileena. "My father will be very pleased."
"I think he will be."
"Speaking of which, Johnathan. If you like, you're invited to view Ms. Frost's presentation." said Mileena.
"Sounds like fun."
"Lovely. Why don't we get some rest?" she suggested. They all agreed and headed to bed.
The next morning...
Outside the back of Outworld Demo, Frost waited impatiently for Cassie to arrive. She was starting to get anxious as she looked at the crowd who waited for her presentation. It was mere minutes until she was scheduled to begin.
"Shit...where are you Cassie?"
"Hey! Ms. Frost!"
Frost turned. Cassie ran up to her. She had cut the midsection off of her bathing suit, exposing her well-toned abs and giving the bathing suit a more athletic look. Frost was stunned, as she thought Cassie looked even better in the new suit, and she was also wearing sunglasses.
"H-Hey..."
"Sorry I'm late. I made some adjustments to the suit. I hope that's okay. I can move a lot faster this way."
"N-No...you look amazing."
Cassie smiled.
"Thanks. Are you ready to start?"
"Oh! Right!"
Frost quickly ran to the front of the crowd with Cassie following her. Frost picked up a microphone.
"Hey everyone. Frost here. Thanks for attending this presentation. I'm sure a lot of you are wondering what I've been up to back here, and now I'm proud to show you my latest invention!"
Frost pulled the sheet off the boat. Everyone was impressed by its slick design.
"Behold! A one of a kind speedboat with a destructive twist!"
Frost and Cassie got into the boat. Frost started it up. They then drove it out to the middle of the lake, where something else was floating in the water covered by a tarp. They drove up to it and removed the tarp, revealing it to be a billboard for Earthrealm Construction. Everyone booed.
"Watch this!" said Frost. She positioned the boat with its back to the billboard and turned on the thrusters, launching a thick cloud of ice at it, completely freezing it. She then backed up, turned around, and launched the boat into it, shattering it and leaving them unharmed. Everyone clapped, especially Shao Kahn.
"Ahh ha ha!" Shao Kahn laughed.
Frost then sped the boat faster, showing off its maneuvers. She then purposely let herself fall into the water as everyone gasped. Cassie hopped into the driver seat. She turned a switch, freezing the lake water in a small radius. Cassie then climbed on the ice, and reached her hand out. She helped Frost back up. As they sat on the ice, their faces were now inches apart, causing both of them to blush. Everyone cheered. Cassie then helped Frost back into the boat. Frost drove over to the dock. The two of them got out and took a bow as they were given a standing ovation.
"Ha ha ha! Brilliant!" roared Shao Kahn. He stepped over to them.
"Ms. Frost, I'm in love with this boat! I must have it!"
"It's yours, sir." said Frost. Shao Kahn smiled.
"I hope with our full resources, you'll make an army of these."
"You can count on it!"
Kuai Lang stepped up to them.
"Ms. Frost. You have shown me that if you put your mind to it, you can accomplish great things. You found someone to work with, and you two make a great team. I'm impressed."
"Aww come on, Subby!" said Shao Kahn. "Just let her back in."
Kuai Lang let out a sigh.
"Very well. Stop by my office tomorrow."
"Yes!" Frost cheered, unable to hold it in. She then composed herself. "Thank you, sir."
Kuai Lang nodded. Frost couldn't hold in her excitement and hugged Cassie.
"Thank you for everything, Cassie!"
Cassie smiled and hugged back.
"You're welcome, Ms. Frost."
Frost pulled away from the hug.
"You can call me Frost." she said. "This calls for a celebration. How about a round of drinks?"
"Uhh...well..." Cassie said looking at Johnny.
"Cass, you're twenty-one. I don't care if you go out for drinks as long as you're safe about it." said Johnny. Cassie smiled.
"Sure. Why not?"
"Great! Let's go!"
"Why don't I drive you ladies?" offered Johnny.
"That's nice of you, Mr. Cage."
Mileena turned to Johnny.
"Wish I could join you, but I have to finish my shift. Congratulations, Ms. Frost."
"Thank you, Ms. Kahn. I'll see you tomorrow."
Cassie and Frost got changed into more casual clothes. After they did, Johnny drove them over to the bar. They sat down on some stools.
"Drinks are on me." said Johnny.
"Are you sure?" asked Frost. Johnny smiled.
"It's my pleasure."
The bartender stepped forward.
"Hey Johnny. What'll it be? The usual?"
"No, just ordering for these ladies. I'll take a Coke."
"I'll have a blueberry daiquiri." said Frost.
"I'll take a whiskey and coke." said Cassie.
They were quickly served their drinks.
"Ahh...refreshing." said Frost after taking a sip.
"Ooof. That's strong." said Cassie.
"Glad my daughter was able to help you out, Ms. Frost." said Johnny.
"You look like you've done this before." said Frost. Cassie smiled.
"I've done some stuntwork here and there. I love doing stunts."
They continued to enjoy their drinks.
"Thanks again, Cassie...for helping me out. No one was really there for me. I know my...anger gets the better of me."
"No problem, Frost. Let me know if you need any more help."
"Ive been thinking about that." said Frost. "Once I'm reinstated, how would you like a job?"
"A job?"
"Yeah...as my personal assistant to help with stuntwork and testing out technology."
"Wow...uh...are you sure that's okay with Shao Kahn?"
"I'm sure it'll be. He greatly enjoyed our presentation."
"Well...sounds like fun."
"Great! I promise not to make your schedule too busy."
In the back of the bar, a group of shady young men started to snicker. One of them approached Frost.
"Hey there Ice queen."
"What the hell do you want?"
"Heard you were giving out jobs. Where do I sign up for an audition?" he said jokingly.
"Get lost. This is a private discussion."
The rest of the men stood up and approached them. Johnny stood up.
"Boys, step off."
"Why don't you, old man? We're not messing around."
"Dad..." said Cassie.
"Stay back, ladies. I can handle these punks."
"So can I!" said Frost. She quickly stood up and summoned ice that formed around her hand into a large blade. She stabbed the man's groin, causing him to scream in agony. His entire groin area began to freeze. Frost pulled back her hand, taking everything with it in a bloody mess. The man fell to the floor in pain. Another man threw a punch. Frost grabbed him and froze his hand, then shattered it.
"Fuck this!" one of them said. "Let's get the fuck out of here!"
"You'll pay for this..." said one of them as they dragged their friends away and out of the bar. The Bartender was horrified.
"What the hell was that..." he asked.
"Oh uh...sorry. I can't stand perverts like that." said Frost.
"How'd you do that?" asked Cassie.
"Do what?"
"You froze those guys..." said Johnny.
"Oh, that. Yeah...it's something I can do."
"Right..."
"Anyway...why don't we finish up here?" suggested Johnny. "Maybe we've caused enough of a scene."
"Probably a good idea." said the bartender. "You don't want to mess with those guys, Johnny. They mean business."
"How so? They looked like ordinary punks to me."
"They're not. They're into some heavy shit. I'd keep an eye out if I were you."
"Maybe you should find a good bouncer."
"Good idea...you ladies looking for a side job?" he asked.
"Uh..."
"Johnny's right. I could use a bouncer. I'm pretty flexible with hours. Though it sounded like you got a job lined up already."
"Why don't I get back to you on that?" asked Cassie. The bartender nodded.
"Sure. Just let me know."
The three left the bar.
"So Frost, where do you live? I'll drop you off." offered Johnny.
"Oh...I live in an apartment nearby the office. Not too bad of a place."
"Alright. Let's go."
Johnny drove them over to Frost's apartment complex.
"If you can, come by the office tomorrow, Cassie." said Frost.
"Okay..."
"See ya, Mr. Cage."
"See ya Ms. Frost."
Frost left and walked to her apartment. Johnny began to drive Cassie back home.
"Well how about that? Cassie gets a job." said Johnny.
"Sounds pretty cool."
"Trust me, it's really cool when you start earning your own money."
"Whatever..."
The next day Cassie jogged over to Outworld Demolition to see if she got the job. Once she arrived in the lobby, she was greeted by Shao Kahn himself.
"Ah! There you are!" said Shao Kahn with a smile. "Welcome to the empire, Ms. Cage!"
"Hello Mr. Kahn...uh...I'm here for an interview?"
"Don't be silly! There's no need for that!" he explained. "I wasn't aware you wanted to work for me! Why didn't you just say so?"
"Ms. Frost suggested it. I was just helping her out."
"Of course. I was very impressed by your performance. When I had heard that Frost suggested you to work for us, I just had to oversee this process personally. Your father has granted us a wonderful opportunity, and I felt that I needed to return the favor. Come, I'll show you to your work area."
Shao Kahn led Cassie to Kuai Lang's workshop where they invented new technology. It was there Cassie met with Kuai Lang.
"Hello Cassandra. I am Kuai Lang. They also call me Sub-Zero. I'll be your supervisor for the department you'll be working at. You and Ms. Frost make a good duo, so I'll have her be your partner. Your main job for the time being is to help her construct more of her speedboats and personally test them out to make sure they function properly. Once we construct an adequate amount, we can move on to future projects."
"Okay...I think I get it."
"You'll get the hang of things once you begin. Ms. Frost will definitely be more than willing to help you if you are having trouble. You can also ask me if you need anything."
"Sure thing."
"You can meet Ms. Frost in her workshop. She'll help you get started. I'll see you around."
Cassie shook his hand, then left to meet Frost. She met her in her personal workshop. Like the rest of the department, it was really cold.
"Damn...guess I should've brought a jacket."
"Yeah...we like it cold around here. If you want, I've got an extra Outworld Demo jacket."
"Yes please."
Frost gave her the jacket and Cassie quickly put it on.
"You'll get used to it." Frost said about the cold. "So basically, Shang Tsung's team is perfecting their equipment to build more of my speedboats. We have a few here to get started with, but we'll get more in the near future."
"Okay...let's get started."
The two worked all day on a few of the boats. It was a fun experience that Cassie enjoyed. At the end of the shift, the two began to walk out of the building.
"I have to admit, Frost. That was pretty cool."
"I thought you might like it."
Just then, Rain and Skarlet, two other employees approached them.
"Well, look who we got here." said Rain.
"Indeed." said Skarlet.
"What do you want?" asked Frost.
"Don't be so pushy. Just wanted to greet our new additions." said Rain. Frost scowled.
"What do you mean, new!? I've worked here for years!" Frost shouted. Cassie put her hand on Frost's shoulder to calm her down. Rain smirked.
"Heard you were back working with Kuai Lang. Well done. But if you really want to make the big bucks, you should join our department. You'd be a fool not to."
"Any idiot can work with water." said Frost. "It takes real brains to work with ice."
"Ice always melts." said Skarlet. "Blood lasts a life time."
"I bet blood can freeze too." said Frost. "I'm not interested."
"Yeah...blood powered things? That's a little weird." said Cassie.
"Oh you'd be surprised..." said Skarlet stepping up to her. "I wonder what kind of power your blood holds..."
Frost stepped in front of Cassie.
"I think that's enough."
"Chill out, Frost." said Skarlet with a smirk. "If you change your minds, you know where to find us."
The two walked away.
"I hate it when people tell me to chill out." said Frost. They walked outside.
"It's okay. Don't let those assholes get to you." said Cassie. Frost lightly smiled.
"Yeah...say Cassie uh...maybe one day this week if you're free...you wanna hang out?" She asked, bashfully looking away. This caught Cassie by surprise.
"Oh uh..."
"I-I mean...unless you feel weird about it...I'm your boss and all...and you'd be hanging out with someone like ten years older tha-"
"No uh...I'd love to. Yeah...any of my days off."
Frost looked up at her and lightly smiled.
"Okay. I'll let you know."
"Sounds good. Oh uh...and if you're interested...my house has a personal gym. If it's your thing...you could train with me."
Frost's smile grew wider.
"Oh yes. You see, Kuai Lang also teaches Lin kuei martal arts, and I happen to be a practitioner. I'd love to train with you sometime."
"Great."
They said their goodbyes, and Frost left for her car. Cassie was prepared to jog home, but Mileena stepped up to her.
"Hey there, Cassie. Need a ride? I was heading back to the mansion."
"Oh uh...I was thinking about jogging home."
"Ah. Well, we could also just do an extra hard training session tonight."
"Hmm...okay."
Mileena drove her home and to the mansion. They both stepped inside and were greeted by Johnny.
"Hey ladies. How was work?"
"Actually...pretty fun." said Cassie. Johnny smiled.
"Glad to hear that!"
"Cassie and I were going to do our training a bit early. We're going to be working out extra hard this time."
"Take all the time you need. When you're done Mileena, meet me upstairs. I have a surprise for you."
"Okay..." Mileena said wondering what it could be. Johnny left for his bedroom.
"Let's go practice." said Mileena. Cassie nodded.
The two headed downstairs to the private gym. The two began with some cardio.
"So Cassie, how was your first day?"
"Pretty fun. Worked on more of those speedboats, had a run in with two jerks at work."
"And who would that be?" asked Mileena, suspicious.
"Oh...some dude wearing purple and some lady wearing red."
"Ugh...that's probably Rain and Skarlet. They are part of the water department...destroying things with water. Father trusts them, but their arrogance can be...annoying."
"I know Frost was definitely annoyed."
"I bet she was. I would be too."
"Speaking of Frost...she asked me if I wanted to hang out."
"Oh did she?"
"Yeah...I said sure."
"Something gives you pause?"
"She seemed...bashful about it."
"You think she meant something else."
"Y-Yeah...it almost sounded like...she meant a date."
"I do know Frost would be delighted to date you." said Mileena. Cassie was surprised.
"She would?"
Mileena nodded.
"Oh yes. In fact, it may surprise you to know that I myself once had such a relationship, long ago."
"Really..."
"Indeed. Her name was Tanya. We were in a relationship for quite a long time...but a lot of...matters had come up, and we had to go our separate ways."
"I'm sorry."
"It is alright. That was some time ago. If you don't mind me asking, would you be interested in courting Frost?"
Cassie blushed and looked away.
"I...uh...I..."
"Forgive me. I understand this is a personal matter."
"No...you know what? Yeah...it's true. I do like...women." Cassie said, her face now completely red. Mileena smiled.
"I see. You appear...bashful. It is nothing to be embarrassed about."
"I know but...you're like...the first person I've ever told. Not even my friends know."
"Does...Johnathan know?"
Cassie shook her head.
"No...I haven't told him or mom."
"Why not? I'm sure they would understand."
"I don't know..."
"Well, that is something only you can decide when to do. Now, about Frost. She's definitely taken a liking to you. You think she meant a date?"
"I'm not sure...wait, you think she...likes me? In that way?"
"I've seen the way she acts around you. Sure...maybe your first meeting with her she was angry, but after you two became friends...she appears very happy around you. Happier than I've ever seen her."
"Now that you mention it...she did say I looked good in a bathing suit...and was bashful when I made my adjustments to it. But that doesn't prove anything."
"Well...what do you think of Frost?"
"I..."
Cassie thought about it. She thought Frost was fun and quirky, and definitely attractive. Sure, on the surface she may appear angry and hostile, but deep down she knew Frost was a good person. Cassie blushed the more she thought about it.
"Frost is...pretty cool. But...I don't know if she really...sees me in that way."
"Well, I suppose that is for you to find out."
The two of them continued with their training, making sure to do double to exercises.
Meanwhile...
At Frost's apartment, Frost was on her computer surfing the web. She opened her page on Friendships.
"I wonder if..."
Frost searched for Cassie's name and found her page. She was tempted to send a friend request, but stopped herself.
"I don't know...maybe I'm being too weird. Who asks to hang out when they just met? Sure...we've worked together but...I like hanging out with her. I don't want her to think I just like her as my employee."
Frost clicked the "submit friend request" button, and blushed as she did.
"Ugh...now she'll think I'm even more weird."
Back at the mansion...
Cassie noticed her phone buzzing and saw a notification that she received Frost's friend request.
"Oh...it's a friend request on Friendships from Frost."
"You don't say?"
Cassie opened up her profile and looked at the request. She then lightly smiled as she accepted it.
At Frost's apartment...
Frost was wondering if she made the right decision. She then noticed a notification as Cassie accepted her request, surprising her.
"She...accepted it."
Frost smiled as she opened Friendships messenger.
"Should I...send a message? Crap...I haven't really done this before. I don't want to sound like an idiot."
Frost went ahead and decided to send a message.
Hey Cassie. What's up?
"Crap...that sounds childish."
As she thought about it, she received a response.
Sup Frost. Just doing some exercises.
Cassie sent Frost a selfie of herself working out. Frost blushed.
Pretty cool. What gym is that at?
The one at my dad's. It's his own private gym.
Damn. Wish I had something like that.
You should come over. It's a lot of fun.
Frost blushed at the thought. She definitely wanted to.
Is that okay with your father?
Of course. Why wouldn't it be? I'm allowed to have friends over.
Sure! I'd love to!
Great! I'll have someone pick you up. They'll have you here in no time at all.
Wow. That's really kind of you. Thanks!
And don't worry. We'll still hang out. Just you and me.
Cassie finished her message with a winking emoji. Frost was surprised and blushed. She still hadn't thought of what they should do together.
Awesome! I'll see you in a bit.
Cassie picked up a nearby housephone and dialed a number to send a ride to pick up Frost.
"What are you doing?" asked Mileena.
"Sending a car to pick up Frost. She wants to come over and work out."
Mileena smiled.
"Sounds like fun. We can take a break, and if you'd like, I can leave you two alone to hang out."
Cassie blushed. In mere minutes, the drivers did their job and dropped Frost off at the mansion. The doorbell rang and Cassie stood up to answer it.
"I'll get it. Be right back."
Cassie stepped over to the front door and answered it. Standing there was Frost, who appeared nervous.
"H-Hey Frost."
"Hey Cassie."
"Want to come in?"
"Oh uh...yeah."
Frost stepped inside and looked around. She was shocked at the size of the mansion. She knew Cassie was wealthy, but never imagined such a place.
"Holy shit..."
"Yeah, that's everyone's first reaction. You wanna check out the gym?"
"Sure!"
Frost followed Cassie downstairs to the gym where they met Mileena, surprising Frost.
"Oh uh! Ms. Kahn!"
Mileena smiled.
"No need for that. You can call me Mileena."
"R-Right...sorry Ms...Mileena."
"Cassie and I were exercising. It would be a delight if you'd join us."
"I'd love to!"
The three continued to work out, going through all the routines. After a while, Mileena stopped.
"Alright you two, I should stop for tonight. Johnathan has a surprise for me. I'm excited to see what it is."
"Okay. Good night, Mileena." said Cassie.
"Good night." said Frost. Mileena left them alone. The two looked at each other.
"So uh...what's next?"
"Oh uh...whatever you want."
"Uh...uh..." said Frost blushing. "Hey, is that a boxing ring?"
"Yeah...you want to go for a round?" asked Cassie.
"Oh uh...are you sure? I mean...I don't know if I'd want to hurt you."
"It's okay, we can go easy. Tell you what, how about afterwards we go for a dip in the pool?"
"Whoa...you have a pool?" asked Frost.
"You better believe it. And it's huge."
Frost smiled.
"Alright. Let's do it!"
Meanwhile...
Mileena walked upstairs, curious to see what Johnny had in store. Once she stepped in his room, she saw the lights dimmed. She smiled.
"I had a feeling..."
Johnny was nowhere to be found. She checked the bathroom. There stood Johnny, wearing a robe. The tub was already filled, and a bottle of champaign sat nearby.
"Oh Johnathan."
"All for you, princess."
Mileena took off her workout clothes. Johnny took off his robe. Mileena stepped over to the shower chair. Johnny turned it on. She reached for the soap and scrubber, but Johnny grabbed it.
"Allow me."
"Oh Johnny...this is just what I needed. I'm beat from tonight's training."
"Is that so?"
"Cassie had Frost come over to work out with her. The two are becoming fast friends."
"Glad to hear that. Cassie hasn't had much of a social life since her friends joined the Special Forces."
Johnny cleaned Mileena's hair, scrubbing his fingers through it. He began to massage her shoulders.
"Ohh..." Mileena moaned. Johnny smiled. After she got all clean, she stood up.
"I believe it is your turn."
"I already cleaned myself. Let's relax in the tub."
The two of them stepped into the tub and sat. Johnny poured themselves some champaign. Mileena took a sip of the delicious drink.
"Absolutely splendid. So Johnathan, what is the surprise? This is all nice, but knowing the great Johnny Cage, I feel more is on my way."
"Indeed. Here."
Johnny held up some keys. He handed them to her.
"Are these..."
"Keys to the castle. All yours."
"Oh...oh my word...are you asking me to move in with you?"
"I...well..."
"Johnathan...be honest. Is that what you'd like?"
"To tell you the truth, it is. I would like you to move in with me. I just...didn't know if you would want to because this would be all happening so fast a-"
Mileena interrupted his sentence with a kiss on the lips. She pulled back and smiled.
"I would love to, Johnathan."
"You would?"
Mileena nodded.
"With all my heart."
Johnny blushed and smiled.
"I know it's sudden but...I can't deny my feelings. I really want to be with you, Mileena."
Mileena put her arms around him.
"Oh Johnny...you've made my day."
Johnny smiled and pulled her closer.
Meanwhile...
Cassie and Frost were having a friendly skirmish. They agreed on not using powers. Their fun fight was looking like a draw.
"Damn Cassie, you are really skilled." Frost said, breathing heavily.
"You know it." Cassie said with a smile.
"You mentioned powers. What kind of powers do you have?"
"You really want to see?"
Frost nodded.
"Yeah."
"Okay. Try and keep up."
Cassie's body emitted a green aura, causing her to move much faster. Frost had a tough time keeping up with all her strikes, and was knocked down. Cassie's aura disappeared.
"Oh shit. My bad."
Frost laughed as she flat laid on the mat.
"Damn Cassie. What was that for?"
Cassie smiled and offered her hand. Frost took it and stood up. She began to breathe heavily.
"Damn...that was intense."
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah...I'll be fine."
"How about that dip in the pool to cool off?"
"Sounds awesome."
The two headed over outside to the pool area. It was beautifully lit up.
"No fucking way..."
Cassie smiled.
"The changing room is over there."
"Oh shit! I forgot a bathing suit!" said Frost.
"It's alright. You can borrow one of mine."
Frost blushed.
"Uh...are you sure?"
"No problem."
They went into the changing room and got changed. When they both came out, they were wearing two piece bathing suits. Frost blushed. She hadn't worn a two piece before, only preferring one pieces. Cassie stepped over to the pool. She looked over at Frost and smiled.
"Something wrong?"
"Guess I...never worn a swimsuit like this before."
"Never? You look great."
Frost giggled at her compliment. They both stepped into the pool.
"Ahh..." Frost said as she relaxed.
"Yep..." said Cassie. They looked at the stars.
"Shit...this place is amazing, Cassie." said Frost.
"Yeah."
"I don't want to make things weird, but I just got to say...this has been one of the best days I've had in a long time." said Frost. Cassie looked over to her.
"No kidding? Me too. It's nice to have a friend over...it's been awhile for me." said Cassie.
"Surely you have friends."
"All of them moved on to start their careers in the Special Forces. You?"
Frost shook her head.
"No one wants to be friends with someone who has a temper like mine."
"Well I do."
Frost smiled and blushed.
"You mean that?"
"You know it. By the way, where are you taking me on our day out?"
"Oh uh...uh...I hadn't really decided. I was thinking ice skating...if that's your thing."
"Ice skating? Interesting choice. You know a place?"
"Yeah...it's this club owned by this millionaire."
"Really? Someone I know?"
"Not sure. I don't know who exactly, but that's the rumor. Anyway, it's a huge place and pretty awesome. Do you know how to skate?"
"I sure do. Sounds like a blast."
Eventually, the two grew tired, and decided it was time to say their goodbyes. They left the pool, got dressed and walked over to the front door.
"I'll see you later." said Frost.
"See ya, Frost."
Cassie hugged her, causing Frost to blush. She hugged back. After a moment they broke from the hug and Cassie waved as Frost walked over to the car to be dropped back off.
The next day...
Cassie had slept in and woke up in the late afternoon. She looked at her phone and noticed a message from Frost asking if she'd like to hang out that night for their day out she mentioned. The message was sent hours ago.
"Oh damn..."
Meanwhile...
Frost was laying on her bed, having woken up earlier. She was upset that Cassie hadn't replied.
"Maybe she didn't notice. I could send another one. No...that would be too weird."
Frost was tempted and looked at her phone. She saw Cassie's reply.
Sorry Frost, I slept in. I'll be ready in a little while if you want to come over.
Frost smiled and replied.
No problem. I'll be there soon.
Frost quickly got up and began to get ready.
Back at the mansion...
Johnny was finishing work up in his office when his phone rang. He didn't recognize the caller ID, but answered it anyway.
"Hello?"
"Hello Mr. Cage."
"Who is this?"
"We haven't met before, but I am Raiden, CEO of Earthrealm Construction."
"Okay."
"Have you heard of us?"
"A little bit."
"I want to meet in person. I have a business proposition for you."
"Oh uh...for what exactly?"
"I believe your production company will benefit greatly from us. We promise to build you the finest sets possible for your shoots. I understand a lot of stunts are involved in your films. The sets I promise you can be beat up and torn apart without degrading."
"Look...I already made a business deal already. The execs will say one is enough. It was hard enough to convince them the first time."
Raiden let out a sigh.
"There is something else. I understand you are currently courting Mileena Kahn, daughter of the founder of Outworld Demolition."
"Yeah? So what? That's none of your business!"
"It might be. Did she tell you her sister Kitana works for us?"
"What? She didn't tell me she had a sister."
"Now I have your interest. I mean no harm. I just wish to talk. If you'd like, meet me at my office. I'll personally give you a tour."
"Okay...I'll consider it."
"Have a good day, Mr. Cage."
Raiden hung up. Johnny was confused. He stepped out of his office and met Cassie downstairs.
"Hey Cassie. What're you up to?" asked Johnny.
"Oh. Frost is taking me ice skating."
"Huh. Sounds like fun."
"Let Frost in when she arrives. I'm going to take a shower."
"Okay."
Johnny sat down on his recliner. Mileena came in wearing a robe.
"Hey Johnny. Something on your mind?"
"Yeah...uh...I got a weird call today."
"Oh yeah? From who?"
"Some guy...I think his name was Raiden."
"Oh..."
"Yeah. He told me your sister works for you."
"Ah...yes. I have a sister. I apologize. I didn't mention it before. It's a long story."
"Okay..."
"Basically...she and I don't...see eye to eye. And she definitely doesn't get along with Father or Mother. She believes our business practices are...wrong."
"What? You guys seem like any other business to me."
"Yes...on the surface. Truth is...we have enemies. Competition."
"All business do."
"Well...we have the kind of competition that...sends people after us. Sabotages our machinery and...tries to harm our employees."
Johnny stood up from his chair.
"What do you mean?"
"Corrupt people, Johnathan. They tried to kill father numerous times. I haven't been fully honest with you, as I wasn't sure you'd understand...I go after people that go after my father. I know it's...not preferred. Or legal...but I can't let my parents be in danger."
"But...it's self defense, right? You've tried going to the authorities?"
"Father's enemies have a lot of power. They can't be stopped by normal means. My sister always wished we'd do things legally and without bloodshed, and believe me I tried. But nothing of that sort seemed to work. So, every time someone send people out to our business to cause trouble, I am sent to stop them. And they show no mercy. They're out for blood."
"Damn..."
"What else did Raiden tell you?"
"He wants me to meet in person."
"I wish to go with you. I want to talk to my sister...and maybe prove to her that we have no choice but to defend ourselves."
"Is there anything else? Surely something like that can't be the only thing."
"She disapproves of our practices in general. Father is always eager to jump at any opportunity to show off and demolish something. Even when Kitana believes it can be repaired, repurposed, and made into something better, Father's influence proves more successful, and convinces landowners that everything is more cost effective if simply torn down. Kitana has always hated this. She says she wishes to build a better society, not destroy it. I want her and I to reach an understanding."
Johnny smiled.
"I'd be happy to help in any way I can. Let's go right now."
Mileena smiled.
"Splendid. Let me get dressed."
Mileena left to get dressed. The doorbell rang.
"Huh. Must be Frost."
Outside...
Frost stood outside the front door, wearing a blue sweatshirt and jeans. Her hair was styled down. She was feeling anxious and nervous. In her hands were a single, beautiful red rose. She looked down at it.
"What am I doing? She wouldn't want this...I feel so stupid...god damn it!"
Johnny answered the door, surprising Frost.
"Hey Frost."
"Hello Mr. Cage."
Johnny smiled.
"You want to come in? Cassie will be ready in a minute."
"Okay."
Johnny let Frost inside. She sat down on the couch. Johnny noticed the rose.
"Is the flower for Cassie?"
Frost blushed.
"Uh...uh..."
"I'm sure she'll love it. I'll be in the kitchen if you need anything."
Johnny left for the kitchen. After a while, Cassie came into the room.
"Oh hey Frost."
Frost stood up.
"Hey Cassie."
Cassie stepped up to her. Frost held up the rose.
"Here."
Cassie looked at the flower and took it.
"It's for you."
Cassie looked up at her and lightly blushed.
"Thanks...it's pretty."
Frost smiled.
"You ready to go?"
"Yeah."
The two left the mansion. After a while, Johnny stepped back into the room. He then heard the doorbell ring once again.
"Who could that be?"
Johnny stepped over to the door and answered it. He was shocked. There in full Special Forces uniform and with a scowl on her face stood Sonya Blade.
