The Cullen Wedding – Part 3

With the speeches completed, it led to the last thing of the night. Dancing.

Of course, Bella and her father danced together. I could see them speaking to each other. I may not have super hearing but I'm confident Charlie was telling her how proud he is of her.

Charlie then released Bella and gave her to Edward so that they could have their first dance as a married couple. The two slow danced to the music, embracing each other. They looked so happy to just be together.

The song came to an end as everyone applauded the two. It didn't take long before upbeat music to start playing. That was the cue as everyone rushed to the dance floor.

I hung back with Seth, Billy and Sue as we watched everyone dance. All eyes were on Alice and Jasper. They danced like they were on fire.

My eyes widened as Jasper suddenly flipped Alice as they continued on like it was as easy as breathing in their routine. Guess they had years to practice but it was still breathtaking to watch.

Seth moved from beside me and stood in front of me, hand extended. "Care to dance with me?"

This caught me by surprise. "Dance? Why?"

Seth grinned. "Because that's what you do at weddings." He explained like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "That and Embry told me to make sure you had fun."

"I don't know…" I trailed off in uncertainty.

"Go on, Maddi." Billy encouraged.

The trio were staring at me. "But I don't know how to dance." I said with embarrassment and shame.

"Seth can teach you." Sue stated with a sweet smile. "After all, he learnt from me."

"Mum!" Seth complained in embarrassment. He turned to look at me. "Well?"

I gave in. "Fine. But don't expect too much." I told him as I took his hand.

Seth led me to an open space on the dance floor. The music had changed and it was perfect to dance with a partner.

"Place one hand on my shoulder and hold my other hand." Seth instructed. I did as I was told as he placed his free hand on my waist. I looked at him expectantly. "Now, follow my lead."

Seth stepped backwards so I took a step forwards. So far, so good. He then stepped to the side, so I did the same. We continued for a few more steps. "Good. You're a natural." Seth encouraged. "Now, for a spin."

Seth lifted his hand, signalling for me to twirl. I went under his arm as I spun around. It didn't feel quite right. It was awkward but I made a full turn. Seth let out a small chuckle. "What?" I questioned.

Seth stopped his laughter and gave me a grin. "It's just that you spun the wrong way."

"Oh." I said in realisation. "That's probably why it felt awkward." I mumbled.

However, Seth's hearing caught this as he laughed harder. "Probably."

The two of us continued to dance. However, I was going very slow, still trying to learn where to step. "Ah, this is hard." I complained in frustration.

"It's okay." Seth reassured me. "You're learning. That's why I'm teaching you."

"Why do I even need to learn how to dance?" I complained at my own inability of dancing.

I wasn't expecting an answer but Seth gave me one. "For Embry of course." Seth stated as he patiently taught me.

I paused as I looked up at the boy with confusion. "For Embry?"

Seth also stopped dancing as he looked down at me. I think my confusion was causing him to be confused. "Yeah." He stated warily. "For the school dance."

I felt my breath hitch. The school dance.

My facial expression and silence was all he needed before Seth questioned me. "You have asked him to the school dance, right?"

"Well, I mean, not yet…" I mumbled in response. Seth stared at me with slight disbelief on his face. I swallowed before telling Seth my worries. "What if he doesn't want to go with me?"

I thought Seth would laugh at me but instead he gave me a comforting look. "Even after all this time, do you still not realise what imprinting is?" He asked gently.

I let out a sigh. "I understand what it is but…" I shook my head as I couldn't find my words.

"Maddi." Seth told me seriously. "I've literally been inside Embry's head. He loves you so much. He would do anything to be with you, to make you happy. Why would you be questioning it now?"

I didn't know how to respond. I don't know why I was so hesitant about it after all this time. "I was just embarrassed that he might say no. That it was all one sided." I admitted. "I'm scared that one day I might wake up and it has all been a dream."

Seth gave me a sad smile. "It's not a dream. This is reality." He told me kindly. "And I know Embry would love to go to the school dance with you."

I contemplated his words before replying. "Thank you, Seth."

"Anytime." He told me with a grin. "But, it will all be pointless if I can't teach you to dance. So, how about we try to do it quicker and smoother."

I gave an affirmative nod. "Alright."

We began to dance again. This time we tried to be up to speed and I kept up for the most part. That was until my heel began to rub against my foot, causing a sharp pain. This caused me to stumble slightly and slam my foot down, right on Seth's foot.

"Ah, I'm so sorry!" I apologised profoundly as I removed my foot. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to step on your foot."

Seth raised his hands to calm me down. "It's okay. I didn't even realise you did until you pointed it out."

"Are you sure I didn't hurt you?" I asked with worry.

"I'm sure." Seth reassured. "Besides, my shoes are made of leather. Your foot didn't even hurt mine." He pointed down at his shoes to prove his point. He looked at me with concern. "But what about you? You suddenly stumbled. Are you okay?"

"Yeah." I gave the boy a nod. "My heels are just rubbing against my foot and caused a bit of pain."

Seth nodded in understanding. "Just take them off." He suggested. I threw him a look. "What? The pack and I hardly ever wear shoes."

I looked around. "But we are at a wedding." I whispered to the boy.

"No one is going to even notice." Seth chuckled slightly. "All eyes are on the married couple so you can do whatever you want."

I didn't need much more convincing. "Okay." I stated as I bent down to take my heels off. I held them in my hands as I stood back up.

"Better?" Seth inquired.

"Better." I confirmed with a grin. "I'm going to place these with Billy and Sue. I'll be back in a second." I told the boy as I ran off to find the two.

It wasn't hard to do since they were sitting to the side, chatting. "What are you doing? Where's Seth?" Billy asked as I reached them.

I pointed behind me. "Still on the dance floor. My heels were rubbing so I'm taking them off." I held my heels up to prove my point. "Mind watching them as I go back to dance with Seth?"

"Of course." Sue answered as she took my heels, placing them next to her and Billy.

"Thanks." I smiled at the two before running off to find Seth again.

It was much harder than trying to find Billy and Sue. The crowd of dancers had moved about. I weaved my way until I bumped into someone. "Sorry." I apologised.

"Hey, I haven't seen you before." The boy spoke. He had dirty blonde hair that was ruffled. "I'm Mike, what's your name?"

I didn't want to be rude so I answered. "I'm Maddi."

"That's a pretty name." Mike complimented. "Care for a dance?" He asked.

I surveyed the surrounding area, searching for Seth. "Um, sorry, but I'm trying to find my friend…" I started until someone interrupted.

"Mike, stop trying to hit on every girl you see." We both turned to see a familiar face. It was the girl who gave a speech, Jessica.

She had two other people with her, another boy and girl. The boy spoke to Mike. "Seriously, dude."

The other girl turned to me. "Sorry, about him." She gestured to Mike. "He goes after every girl after Bella rejected him." I glanced at the boy. He had been rejected by Bella? Wouldn't say I'm surprised.

"Anyway." The girl continued. "I'm Angela. This is Jessica and Eric." Her eyes glanced back at the boy. "And you've met Mike."

"Yeah…" I mumbled before introducing myself. "I'm Maddi."

Mike didn't seem to like the appearance of his friends. "I'm just asking her to dance."

"She obviously doesn't want to dance with you." Jessica stated, but it was more to mock the boy rather than help me.

"Yeah, right." Mike scoffed as he reached out and grabbed my hands. "Just a quick dance."

"I'm sorry." I tried to reason with him. "But I'm looking for my friend." However, I couldn't get my hands out of his grasp. Instead, he dragged me closer onto the dance floor. "Wait!"

Suddenly, a hand landed on Mike's shoulder. The boy stopped pulling me as we glanced at the person. "Seth." I said with surprise.

"What's going on here?" Seth asked as he observed Mike pulling my hands.

It took only a glance at Mike's face to know what he was thinking. His eyes were filled with panic and slight fear. It was obvious why. Seth was much bigger than he was. And Seth knew me.

Mike quickly put the pieces together and instantly released my hands. "I was just asking her for a dance." He explained.

"Pretty sure asking involves words." Seth started until Mike cut him off.

"You're right. Sorry." He muttered quickly before moving away to re-join his friends.

The two of us watched him run off. Seth may look intimidating but he wouldn't have done anything to the boy. Seth has a kind soul.

"What was that about?" Seth asked as he continued to watch the boy leave.

I sighed. "Honestly, I'm not sure." I grinned at the boy. "But you scared him half to death."

"I didn't mean to." Seth pouted. "You were taking forever so I came looking for you."

"Yeah. I was trying to find you but ran into him." I explained. "But now that I've found you, shall we continue dancing?"

"Definitely." Seth nodded.

We stayed where we were to dance. The music changed and it wasn't a partner dance song. "How do we dance to this?" I questioned the boy.

"You really are hopeless at this, aren't you?" Seth questioned with a small. I simply nodded in agreement. "You just dance to the music. Sway to the beat. Do whatever you would like."

I watched as Seth began to move to the music. I tried to listen to his advice as I swayed. It wasn't the best but I don't think it was terrible either.

The two of us continued dancing until I spoke up. "Hey, Seth. Can I ask you a question?"

"Sure." Seth said with a smile.

"It's about earlier today." I started. "What happened with those vampires talking to Bella and Edward?" I didn't give him the chance to say it was nothing, again. "They were staring at you and you did the same back."

Seth looked at me for a bit before caving in. "Back a while ago. Before I joined the pack. There was a vampire who tried to kill Bella." He explained as I looked at him expectantly. "Well, the pack killed him first."

I furrowed my brows in confusion. "What's that got do with anything?"

Seth looked sad. "He was dating one of the vampires from before."

It all came clicking into place. Her partner was killed by the pack. No wonder she was glaring daggers full of hatred at Seth.

The two of us fell into silence as we processed it. Suddenly, Seth froze like he just heard something. "What?" I asked with worry.

He paused for a second as he focused on his hearing. "Jake." He told me before he began to jog away from the dance floor toward the house.

I ran after the boy. Jacob was here?

Luckily for me, the dance floor was a paved area. And the way Seth was going was also paved. Which meant I didn't have to run bare foot on dirt.

When Seth reached the house, he went to the side of it where it was clearing next to the woods. The clearing was dirt so I stayed next to the house where the pavement was.

I looked to see Jacob, Edward and Bella. "Calm down, Jacob." Edward told the boy. It appeared Edward was standing protectively in front of Bella.

Jacob looked furious. "Are you out of your mind? Huh? You'll kill her!" Jacob yelled angrily at Edward as he stormed forwards.

Seth ran up to Jacob and grabbed him from behind. "Walk away, Jake." He tried to persuade the angry werewolf.

Jacob, however, threw Seth off him, sending him straight to the ground. As Seth fell, Embry and Quil ran out from the trees and grabbed either side of Jacob, pulling him away from Edward and Bella. Jacob was pulled back but he managed to shake Embry and Quil off.

A booming voice suddenly called out. "Enough, Jacob!" Jacob stopped as he turned to see Sam.

Jake shook his head. "Stay out of this, Sam!"

"You're not gonna start something that we'll have to finish." Sam warned the angry boy.

"She'll die." Jacob stated with anger, fear and pain.

Bella was going to die? What did that mean? Was Jacob just referring to the fact that she'll be turned into a vampire or is it something else?

Sam wasn't as worried. "She's not our concern anymore."

Everyone fell silent at his words. It was then Embry noticed me. He looked like he wanted to come by my side or call out to me but it wasn't the appropriate time.

Jacob turned around to head into the woods, slamming Sam's shoulder as he walked. Quil followed after the fuming boy.

Embry and Seth didn't move. Seth was looking at Edward and Bella while Embry was looking at me. Sam caught on. "Maddi." He called out to me, making everyone turn to look at me. "Go back to Billy and Sue."

I gave a small nod in understanding. "Come on, Seth, Embry." Sam ordered as he ran into the forest. I threw one last look at Embry and gave him a sad smile. He returned the gesture before following after the others with Seth.

I guess the whole incident talking about Bella dying made everyone feel down. Easy to understand why.

Following Sam's orders, I turned around to head back to Billy and Sue.
