Am I dreaming?

There have been so few witches for her to connect to. Her Grandmother died before she was able to get any answer or truly understand the power she possessed. Then her mother was turned into a vampire and left just like when she was little, and almost all other that she has met is dead. That's why it's nice to be able to build some sort of friendship with Liv and her twin brother Luke.

She also needs more friends. With Caroline only showing up on campus when she feels like it and Elena having started her rounds at the hospital, it has become somewhat lonely since she barely knows anyone else in school.

Getting to know the twins have also allowed her to continue the work she started with Kol and Cyrena. With the witch gone, even if Kol is a good teacher, there hasn't been anyone to try out the spells with or to show her if she is uncertain about something. Though she is still surprised that she actually likes the original vampire's presence.

Right now, they are seated in Skull Bar with a spell that Kol is trying to explain to her while she is reading through the grimoire that he has given her. "And you want my help with whatever this is because?" Liv asks while she is working.

Kol has his usual smirk in place. "I like to work with most witches, darling."

Turning the grimoire towards Liv, Bonnie tries to explain the things she has understood. "Apparently he wants us to continue with similar magic to the one he taught me to make the bracelet that blooks Kaiden's magic."

Liv is glancing at the spell with interest. "So, we bind magic to objects." She surmises. "Where do you find all of this?"

Kol shrugs. "Here and there. I have had a lot of time on my hands to travel, learn from different witches, and teach others. Though I have missed out on a few centuries thanks to Nik." He explains and points to the spell. "This grimoire and magic come from Arabia, Kemiya, they call it. It was a way for me to perform magic through objects without actually needing, well, magic."

"It's still weird to think of your family as witches, even if I met Esther." While their mother was a powerful witch, her children haven't appeared to care much for nature.

"I was the only one showing any talent for it, even if Mikael never approved." He says somewhat saddened. "Until our mother turned us and took it all away." She actually feels sorry for him. They just like her friends, didn't choose this.

"If you have gathered all these grimoires from across the world, where are you hiding the impressive ones?" Liv suddenly asks as she is looking through the spells.

Bonnie would guess the mansion, or maybe Kol has his own places all over where he can store them. "Considering that I haven't been allowed to look at their mother's book without supervision I'm doubting that we are going to get near their impressive spells any time soon." If ever she thinks.

"And why do you ask." Kol has a raised eyebrow and seems to be trying to solve a puzzle.

Liv shrugs. "Just figured it could be interesting." She answers. "So, you want our help so that you can get closer to the magic that you lost?"

"Or you could look at it and think, I'm giving the people I care about magical protection without them needing a witch present." He answers. "I did have quite the collection once in New Orleans but lost them when one of the witches I worked with locked me out from our playhouse." Both she and Liv are laughing lightly. "Well, are you in?"

She has nothing against it. "Why not."

Liv is looking a bit more hesitant. "What did you do to get locked out?" she asks after seaming to think on it for a while.

Kol rolls his eyes. "Would you believe me if I blamed it on Nik?" not completely, Bonnie thinks and can see that Liv is on the same page. "I give you my word that I have no intention of getting anyone of you hurt."

"All right," Liv says with a nod. "If we get to run any question or problem coming up your way."

Once more the original vampire is smirking. "As long as they are magical, I see no problem."

The plan had been to find some time to spend with her friends and she figured that she could give Klaus a free day. As such she is bringing Kaiden with her to Whitmore, thinking that they can take a walk around the area and catch up with Elena and Bonnie. Today was supposed to be relaxing. It just so happens that plans aren't something that works for them.

She has made it a bit away from the mansion when pain is starting to spread through her head. It gets so bad that she must stop the car and just sit there trying to bread. The worst part is that she has no idea what is happening.

The few visions she has had have come to her in dreams or like the one in New Orleans that knocked her out, it's just that even then she could feel that the spirits were trying to reach her. Right now, she can't hear them at all.

Nothing is helping to ease the pain. Hoping that maybe getting some fresh air will she leaves the car, but the movement only makes it worse, causing her to throw up. Not even when she was human did she ever feel this sick. It's like the world is spinning and she can't stop it, she can't do anything but wait it out. She closes her eyes in hope that it will lessen the spinning, but no such luck.

"She's coming." A whisper is heard.

When she opens her eyes, a blonde woman is standing before her. As a reaction, she takes a step back, and at the same time, the woman disappears. It might have appeared ghost-like, but she doesn't think that was a spirit. If it was and she's wrong, then this would have been the first time she's actually seen one.

"Caroline." She can hear her name being called, the voice coming from the woods. The pain is also residing. "Caroline." Everything feels so wrong, but she needs answers.

Looking behind her she makes sure that Kaiden doesn't seem to be in any danger. What is best for the situation she doesn't know. Taking him with her or leaving him. She can start by going no further than she can see the car.

Carefully she takes a few steps into the woods. That's all it takes for the world to move around her and suddenly she is standing in the cemetery. Something is telling her that this was a big mistake. The car is gone, and she has no idea of which way to go to get back. It might look like Mystic Falls cemetery, but she can't find an end to it.

Searching for something, anything, that can get her back to her son she spots movements among the trees. "Let me in, Caroline." There is something familiar about the voice, but it also has her shivering, so not in a good way.

Determined to get her answers she moves towards the shape that she can see. A person she thinks but there is no clear face, something is warping the image. But she thinks that she knows who it is, or at least that she is supposed to, just like she recognised the voice.

The being is reaching out towards her and first now can she start to feel the spirits. They are gathering around her stopping whoever is in front of her to reach out. Whoever this is, the spirits obviously want them gone.

Once again, the pain is there, beating in her head so she has to grab a hold of it, and she collapses to the ground. She wants to disappear, to get away from here and for it all to end. Right now, she wishes she had stayed home, where she wouldn't be alone, where she would have known that Kaiden was safe.

Nothing makes sense and the world is only filled with pure and utter pain. She can slightly feel the presence of the spirits, but they are completely quiet only focusing on keeping the unknown being away. She wants to know why; she wants to know who or what are they so afraid of.

Suddenly something is touching her back, the sounds have changed, and everything feels a lot calmer. She opens her eyes slowly and finds herself back in the car, almost like she never moved.

The headache is mostly gone, only a slight reminder that it was ever there. She is definitely confused but is feeling a lot better, considering what just happened. She takes a deep breath to relax and decides that the best thing is probably to return home.

Looking in the rear-view mirror everything is returning, because a woman, different from the one she saw before is sitting there in the backseat, and Caroline can't take her eyes off the reflection.
