SHONEN ALLIANCE
RE:BIRTH
OPENING THEME: HOLOGRAM (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood)
It was a few hours walk from Southern Command to where the Elrics had buried the mysterious round pod that had fallen from the sky, carrying the amnesiac woman named Shantella. It was a bit of a chore to travel too, but this meant it was far enough out of the way that no one was likely to stumble upon the hiding place by accident.
More importantly, it was far enough from prying eyes to allow Edward and Alphonse to have a degree of privacy when Edward used a transmutation to raise a large stone sphere out of the ground, then cracked it open.
The sphere fell in half, revealing it to be a hollow shell in which sat the white, spherical, Saiyan space pod.
The lone viewing port allowed Edward to see inside the pods cramped looking cockpit. It didn't seem the vehicle would be comfortable to travel in, but Ed hadn't really been able to observe much, since the door had only opened once to his knowledge, allowing Alphonse and himself to extract the then unconscious Shantella, before resealing itself. Try as they might the alchemists couldn't reopen it.
Whatever materials the pod was made of, none of them could identify, so alchemy was rendered nearly useless, not that any sane alchemist would dare attempt a transmutation on such an unknown vessel, and they didn't want to risk damaging the vehicle, so they really didn't want to try brute forcing it open.
An hour passed with no real new insights on the object, and the Elrics were growing increasingly frustrated by the endeavor. Edward let out a sigh as he ran his hand over the shell.
"We have to be missing something," he thought aloud, "if this is supposed to be a ship, there has to be a way to get inside!"
"Uhh… Brother…" Alphonse said suddenly, the tone of his voice putting Ed instantly on edge. He rounded to face his brother and found Alphonse looking away from him. Ed felt his blood run cold when he saw what his brother was looking at.
A mysterious, pink portal had appeared behind them.
"What now!?" Ed cursed, clapping his hands together and transmuting a blade from his automail as he and Alphonse readied themselves for battle. He fully expected Obelisk Force soldiers, or at least one of their mechanical soldiers, to emerge from the portal, but that wasn't what happened.
Instead, a lone figure emerged from the portal. The portal seemed to collapse, vanishing, and leaving Ed and Al face to face with a young woman who looked as confused as they were. She was a cute, petit young woman with red hair tied in twin pony tails with two pink strands hanging down either side of her face. She wore a sleeveless white top, a dark red skirt, black thigh high socks, and pink shoes, and her dark blue eyes showed a mixture of confusion and fear that prompted Edward to lower his blade to avoid frightening the girl any further.
"Where am I?" the girl stammered nervously. Edward was about to answer, but a blue portal opening behind the girl ended that endeavor, "No! Not them again!" she cried backing away as the Elrics rushed forward to get between the stranger and the new portal. They were both terrifyingly certain they knew what would emerge from this one.
Sure enough, three soldiers of Obelisk Force emerged from the portal, which closed behind them, and faced the Elrics.
"Look at that," one said, a devilish grin crossing his face, "we found the girl and some bonuses!"
"Damn it, these guys are really starting to get on my nerves," Ed cursed.
"We're not letting any of you get away!" The Obelisk soldier declared as he and his two companions all pulled cards from the tops of their decks as their duel discs activated, "let's see how you handle a pack of Ancient Gear Hunting Hounds!"
All three played their cards, summoning three of the mechanical hounds to face the Elrics.
"Not good," Ed cursed, turning to the girl, "hey, don't just stand there! We'll hold these guys off, so get out of here!"
"LOOK OUT!" the girl cried in dismay, prompting Ed to turn and raise his automail arm just in time to make sure it was the only thing an attack hound was able to sink its teeth into! The mechanical beast swung its head, throwing Ed aside. The Fullmetal Alchemist hit the ground hard, but rolled quickly to his feet and faced his foes.
He found the hound closing on him as another hounded Alphonse. The final hound was inching closer to the girl, who seemed to be frozen in fear!
"RUN!" Alphonse shouted to her, fruitlessly. The hound was already pouncing, covering the final feet between it and the girl in seconds with a powerful leap! The girl screamed and stepped backwards, falling to her seat. Nothing but a miracle could save her now!
"CHAOS SCEPTER BLAST!"
An orb of black energy struck the hounds head in mid air, destroying it before it reaches the girl. The Elrics watched in even further confusion as the Magician of Black Chaos landed in front of the girl, soon joined by Dark Magician Girl and Apprentice Illusion Magician who dropped in on either side of her. Before any of the bemused combatants could regain their composure, Naruto and Luffy joined the offensive!
"RASENGAN!" Naruto's attack struck one of the hounds harassing Edward, blowing it backwards.
"GUM GUM BAZOOKA!" Luffy's attack had an identical effect on Alphonse's assailant! Both remaining hounds were forced together as Ichigo leapt above the fray, Tensa Zangetsu ready as he held his hand to his face, conjuring his Visored mask!
"GETSUGA TENSHŌ!" he roared, unleashing his attack on the downed hounds, obliterating them!
"What the…" Ed stuttered in confusion as Ichigo, Naruto, and Luffy faced the three Obelisk soldiers.
"Looks like we've got a few upstarts on our hands!" one of the soldiers hissed angrily, guess you all want to get trapped in cards too!"
"I'll handle these three," Yami Yugi declared firmly as he stepped past his three comrades, "take care of their victims."
"Guess if these guys're duelists, you're the best man for the job," Ichigo admitted, "they're all yours."
"A loner? Hah, you must really have a death wish if your challenging all three of us by yourself."
"Check it out. Our friend here has a duel disc," the second soldier observed.
"Even better!" the third soldier declared, "this'll be a good warm up before we deal with the girl.
DUEL BEGIN
TEAM OBELISK: 4000 LP
YAMI YUGI: 4000 LP
"Don't get ahead of yourself," Yami cautioned the trio, "it's time to duel!"
TEAM OBELISK TURN (SOLDIER 1) (Hand: 5, LP: 4000)
YAMI YUGI (Hand: 5, LP: 4000)
"I'll start this duel!" the lead Obelisk soldier declared, taking command of his team, "and I'll start with this! Polymerization!"
"A Fusion Summon?" Yami questioned, a bit surprised by this opening tactic.
"Not just any Fusion Summon! I fuse my Ancient Gear Golem, Two Hunting Hounds, and Gadjitron Dragon to summon the ultimate, all destroying CHAOS ANCIENT GEAR GIANT!"
The ground seemed to tremble and quake as the fusion summoning created a towering colossus that towered over the duel!
CHAOS ANCIENT GEAR GIANT (Level: 10, Machine/Fusion/Effect, Attack: 4500, Defense: 3000)
"Fourth-five hundred attack points on the first turn," Yami observed, sounding mildly impressed.
"If you think its attack is the only impressive thing about this giant, you're in for a world of hurt! Not only is Chaos Ancient Gear Giant completely immune to spell or trap cards, but it also prevents you from activating any monster effects during the battle phase! With all that going for it, the fact that it still inflicts piercing damage against your defense position monsters is just icing on your defeat cake!"
"I see, a powerful monster to be sure," Yami admitted, drawing.
YAMI YUGI'S TURN (Hand: 6, LP: 4000)
TEAM OBELISK (SOLDIER 1) (Hand: 0, LP: 4000)
However, you'll need more then power alone to defeat me!" Yami declared, taking a card from his hand and showing it to his foes, "first, by sending a level six or higher Spellcaster from my deck to the graveyard, I can activate the effect of Magician's Soul! I choose Dark Magician Girl!" Yami revealed as his Duel Disc ejected his Magician Girl and he added her to his graveyard. "Now I discard Magician's Soul to summon back DARK MAGICIAN GIRL!"
Yami discarded his card and summoned Dark Magician Girl to the field. In a flash of white light, the fetching young apprentice Magician appeared on the field, facing the Ancient Gear Giant."
"You know, just once, it would be nice to be summoned and only find a Kuriboh on the opposite field," she lamented as she sized up her foe.
"Next, I discard from my hand Magician of Dark Illusion to summon Apprentice Illusion Magician!" Yami shouted as he continued his play.
"Stop whining," Apprentice Illusion Magician lectured as she appeared alongside her counterpart, "if the bad guys bigger, that just means they'll fall that much harder."
"I agree," Yami admitted, "especially once I activate Sage's Stone!" Yami declared, allowing me to summon Dark Magician directly from my deck!" The stone appeared in front of Dark Magician Girl who channeled her magic into it. The stone erupted into a pillar of light and the Dark Magician leapt from it to face his Pharaoh's enemies once more.
"Still, this one could be tricky," Apprentice Illusion Magician admitted, looking over the Ancient Gear Giant, "especially if spells and traps won't work on it."
"They don't need to work on it," Dark Magician declared confidently, "all we need to make this Giant disappear is to show these three that the ability to Fusion Summon does very little to make a duelist special."
"Oh, so that's what the play is," Apprentice Illusion Magician realized.
"Wait, what is?" Dark Magician Girl asked in a panic, uncertain what her fellow Magician's were referring to.
"Heh, big talk from three weakling magicians! None of your monsters have even close to the power they need to beat our Giant!" the second Obelisk soldier declared firmly, laughing at what he perceived to be a weak play from Yami. It wouldn't take long to prove that his perception was very lacking.
"I still have one card left to play," Yami warned the prematurely gloating Obelisks, "MAGICALIZED FUSION!"
"A FUSION CARD!?" the three Obelisk soldiers cried in surprise.
"That's right! This card allows me to banish monsters from my field and graveyard for the summon of a Spellcaster Fusion Monster! As such, the three Magicians on my field join forces with Magician's Soul and the Magician of Dark Illusion from my Graveyard to call forth the true master of magic!" Yami shouted as his two monsters from the graveyard appeared behind his three Magicians and all five began to merge, "I FUSION SUMMON THE ALL POWERFUL QUINTET MAGICIAN!" Yami roared as his fusing monsters were engulfed in a pillar of light. When the light cleared, Quintet Magician floated in the air, level with Chaos Ancient Gear Giant's head, before casually floating back to the ground.
QUINTET MAGICIAN (Level: 12, Spellcaster/Fusion/Effect, Attack: 4500, Defense: 4500)
"That's your big play!? Did you not notice that our monsters have equal attack!? All you'll do by attacking is destroy both of our monsters!"
"Your Giant won't survive long enough to be attacked!" Yami declared firmly, "when five Spellcasters with different names are used to summon Quintet Magician, all of my opponent's cards are destroyed!"
"Wait, what?" The Obelisk leader questioned as a pulse of magic erupted from Quintet Magician, destroying the Ancient Gear Giant! "OH NO!"
"Oh yes! Quintet Magician, bring an end to this duel with Scepter of the Five Mages!" Yami ordered! The three Obelisk were left dumbstruck as Yami's first move proved to be their last.
OBELISK FORCE: LP 0
DUEL END
WINNER: Yami Yugi
The three Obelisk force soldiers were dumbstruck. In a three-on-one duel, two of them had never even gotten a chance to play a card before they had been completely overwhelmed.
"You're finished!" Yami declared as the three terrified soldiers backed away from the King of Games.
"This guy is insane," one of them stuttered.
"I doubt anyone but Yuri could beat this guy," the leader cursed, "we have to retreat… warn the professor before…"
"You will do no such thing," a male voice declared, surprising all present. As they watched, another portal opened and a man with spiked, black hair and clad in a black version of Duel Academy's uniform stepped out of the portal, an Obelisk Force duel disc strapped to his arm, which he pointed at the three beaten soldiers!
"Who… who are you!?" The leader demanded. Beyond a scream of absolute terror, these would be the man's final words before a beam of light from the stranger's Duel Disc engulfed them and they vanished before three cards were ejected from a slot on his disc.
"What did you do to them?" Yami demanded as the man showed him the three cards, each of which had one of the soldiers sealed within.
"Exactly what they had intended to do to you and your comrades, unlike their victims, however, they'll only remain like this until they and their professor can be forced to stand trial for their crimes." His attention turned to the girl. "I apologize that a conflict that was not yours has visited your world, however, neither I, these three, nor that girl belong in your Hyperdimension, and the battles of our own dimensions are not your concern. Zuzu Boyle, I ask that you return with me, without a fight, to Fusion Dimension."
"Fusion Dimension?" Yami questioned before noticing the girl he had referred to was frightened by the newcomer.
"Forget it, I already told you, I'm not going to Duel Academy!" she cried in fear.
Yami also noticed an unexpected look in Edward Elric's eyes. One of complete and utter confusion at the sight of this newcomer!
"Colonel Vine?" he stuttered in disbelief.
