SHONEN ALLIANCE

RE:BIRTH

OPENING THEME: RANBU NO MELODY (Bleach)

YURI (LP: 2800)

DARK PALADIN (Level: 8, Spellcaster/Fusion/Effect, Attack: 2900, Defense: 2400)

"This can't be happening! I can't lose to some Hyperdimension trash!"

"DARK PALADIN! ATTACK!"

Dark Paladin didn't even show the slightest hesitation towards executing his Pharaoh's orders. He twirled his bladed staff skillfully before swinging it to unleash a crescent shaped magical blade that raced towards the defenseless Yuri.

The fight was over.

DUEL END: DUEL INTERRUPTED

Yami was completely caught off guard when a dome of blue energy encased Yuri, blocking Dark Paladin's attack and ending their duel!

"What's this!?" he demanded.

"No… not yet! We can still win!?" Yuri stuttered.

No, you can't, an icy female voice echoed in his mind.

Similar light was overtaking all of Obelisk Forces surviving soldiers as the Amestrian forces looked on, unable to do anything to the encased enemy.

Not only have you lost most of your forces, but thanks to your utter incompetence, Hyperdimension's warriors have rallied against us.

"SO WHAT!? Fusion and XYZ dimensions' 'heroes' stood against us too, and what happened to them!?"

You think your pathetic victories in Fusion and XYZ dimensions mean you're ready for Hyperdimension? Don't make me laugh. I should leave you to your fate, but unfortunately, I need you alive. Count yourself lucky that you're still useful, Yuri.

"Damn you…" Yuri cursed as tears began to leak down his cheeks.

He's crying? Yugi observed from within Yami's consciousness.

"You! What's your name!" Yuri demanded, catching Yami by surprise.

"My name is Yugi!"

"Yugi!? No… you're Yugi Muto!?" Yuri stuttered, his eyes widening with shock a moment before his sadistic smirk finally reappeared, "the King of Games himself. All the more reason for me to completely crush you the next time we meet!"

"You're free to try. I'll take you on any time!" Yami vowed as Yuri vanished through a portal.

The blue energy barriers still enshrouded the remaining Obelisk Force soldiers, prompting Amestris' defenders to remain on guard.

"They're not continuing their attack," Hughes observed, "you don't think they're giving up, do you?"

"I don't like this," Vine admitted, "what's with those barriers?"

"All forces, withdraw!" An Obelisk soldier finally decided to take charge, ordering a retreat.

"Our Dimension Portals won't open! We can't go back to Fusion Dimension!" another cried as panic began to sweep through Obelisk Force's ranks!

"They can't retreat?" Ed's question dripped with confusion and trepidation. After all, if Obelisk could no longer retreat, was their only course to continue fighting?

None of Obelisk Force's soldiers seemed keen on the idea. Through out the ranks, duelists trembled and shook, fear and despair becoming more and more plain with every moment that passed.

"They can't run, but they're scared to fight. We might be able to force a surrender," Vine contemplated as he watched the frontlines begin to crumble and flee, eager to at least be away from here, even if they couldn't return home.

The poor fools learned to late how cruel a person they had been serving.

At first, no one thought the barriers' shrinking was more then a curious change to what seemed a protection ability.

Then, with no warning, one collapsed in on itself, and the Obelisk within it was crushed with enough force to rocket blood and bone fragments several feet in every direction!

"What the hell?" Vine stammered as the heroes stared in disbelief at what had just happened. An Obelisk Force girl let out a scream that froze the blood in veins before Obelisk Force was engulfed in chaos and despair!

"HEADMASTER, PLEASE! YOU CAN'T…AHH!" one soldier cried before being crushed.

As one Obelisk soldier after another was crushed, something became terrifyingly clear. Obelisk Force was being taken out one by one! Those left had to watch friends and teammates die a gruesome death, each knowing at some point, it would be their turn.

"What the hell?" Ed stuttered in shock and disbelief, "what's going on?"

"Is this one of your people's doing?" Vine asked Histoire, despite already knowing the answer.

"No! We would never do anything this cruel!" Histoire promised seconds before a haunting shriek split the air and another Obelisk soldier imploded.

"Then what…" Vine's expression shifted to dumbfounded horror as a possibility occurred to him, "is Duel Academy killing their own soldiers!?"

By now, Obelisk soldiers were fully panicked, trying desperately to escape! Some tried to summon Ancient Gears to save them, only to discover power had been cut to their duel discs.

Others desperately tried to break out of their energy prisons, bloodying their hands as they futilely punched, kicked, and clawed at their unwavering prison walls.

Most, however, simply fell to their knees, all hope lost, certain their fate was inescapable.

The Dark Saiyan of Wrath, Devastation, lived up to her title, and these poor men and women had kindled her anger against them. Knowing she wouldn't be robbed of her vengeance against them, their will to fight evaporated in an instant.

Tragically, as one young woman's barrier began to shrink, her will to fight reignited, throwing her into a panic.

"NOOO!" she screamed, pushing against the barrier, "HELP ME! PLEASE, I DON'tT WANT TO DIE!?"

Her panicked scramble knocked off her Obelisk Force helmet off, and Vine felt his heart break. She was young, no older then 20, and as her eyes overflowed with tears, they showed a mixture of fear and despair even veterans like Vine, Hughes, and Armstrong had only seen a few times before. The look of one terrified to die, and equally terrified that nothing could save them.

These people had attacked their home, completely unprovoked. The Amestrians would only know in the future how many people had been killed or trapped in cards, and yet, no one deserved this.

The young woman seemed to actually be holding the barrier from crushing her, which only served to paint the enemy in an even crueler light. After all, these barriers could effortlessly crush a human's body. This only meant their foe was cruel enough to let its victim think she had a chance before…

"JET BAZOOKA!"

Nobody even registered Luffy's movement. One instant, he was standing by Natsu, the next, in front of a terrified young woman, stumbling forward as the barrier that had been seconds from reducing her to a puddle, shattered and vanished.

"What the hell is wrong with you," Luffy growled as the woman fell to her hands and knees. Looking up to the sky, he angrily roared, "AREN'T THESE GUYS YOUR FRIENDS!?"

"Friends? Don't make me laugh,"'echoed an ominous voice.

"A woman's voice," Hughes observed, "you don't think…?"

"Nothing to think. It has to be the woman who wiped out out Fusion Dimension's Planeptune," Vine hissed.

"BASTARD, GET OUT HERE SO I CAN KICK YOUR ASS!" Luffy roared angrily.

"Aggravating child," hissed the voice of Devastation, "if you care so much, then save as many as you can."

As if the Dark Saiyan had grown tired of her sadistic game, the remaining barriers all began to contract.

"You've gotta be kidding," Zoro cursed as he drew his three swords.

"Looks like the Dark Saiyan we're up against this time is a real piece of work," Sanji lamented as the three strongest Straw Hats went on the offensive, painfully aware there were too many barriers for them to even come close to saving everyone!

Fortunately, they weren't the only ones who went to work.

"FIRE DRAGON TALON!" Natsu shouted, shattering a barrier with a flaming kick before using a fiery elbow strike to break another, "AND FLAME ELBOW!"

"SCISSOR BLADE: EXECUTION MODE!" Ryuko shouted as her Scissor Blade extended in length. With one powerful swing, a dozen barriers shattered.

"Not much I can do here," Naofumi cursed as two portals opened behind him, "Filo! Raphtalia! I'll have to leave this to you!"

The figures that leapt from the portals were barely distinguishable as they streaked out of the portal like two lightning bolts! Only when they slowed to strike a barrier did the cute brunette with raccoon ears and a tail and the white bird far larger then her speed would have suggested possible become distinguishable for a brief moment before they shattered their target and moved on.

For their part, the goddesses of Gameindustri were doing as much of the heavy lifting as the Straw Hats' monster trio, moving so quickly between barriers that one had l even completely shattered before the next shattered, all while expertly placed shots from Ruby Rose threaded the gaps between the attacking heroes, each shattering a barrier.

With no hope of keeping pace with the others, the alchemists and the samurai, Kenshin, could only watch.

"They won't even be able to save half of them," Edward cursed as time began to run out, "there's gotta be something we can do!"

He turned to find Vine biting down on the tip of his thumb, already pushing his brain to its limits, finally, he shook his head in defeat.

"It'd take nothing short of a full on act of god to save more then half of them," he cursed.

A sudden gust of wind shook the battlefield and dark clouds seemed to materialize from nowhere, enshrouding the sky.

"Now what?" Hughes cursed.

"Act of god, huh," Sanji commented, looking up to the clouds, "if that's all we need, then three should be more then enough."

The ground itself shook uncontrollably as Obelisk the Tormentor, Slifer the Sky Dragon, and the Winged Dragon of Ra descended from the clouds!

"ATTACK!" Yami ordered.

Colonel Vine of Amestris had been put in charge of making sense of the confusion that came in the aftermath of the bloody conflict. Yugi Muto's Egyptian God cards had been a sight to behold, as they had crushed the barriers with a single display of overwhelming might from each of them, proving to have indeed been the 'act of god' that had saved the seemingly doomed Obelisk soldiers.

Of course, said soldiers had attacked Amestris without provocation and had apparently been stripped of their ability to return home. Their duel discs had all been disabled as well, making Vine wonder, if Duel Academy could remotely disable Duel Discs, they hadn't disabled the discs Amestris had captured during the fight.

After all, those Discs were now as dead as the others, so they had clearly had the ability and simply not used it.

"Was that another punishment for their failures?" He mused to the air around him, "if so, Duel Academy is even crueler then I thought."

Either way, the Obelisk soldiers who had survived had surrendered without further incident, so Amestris had plenty of potential sources of information.

The reinforcements they had received from two Hyperdimension alliances, Histoire's Gameindustri alliance and the Lunaria alliance Luffy and Yugi belonged to, complicated the situation even further.

The fact that Bradley hadn't torn into him immediately with questions only served to intensify Vine's concerns. There was always a possibility he was to overwhelmed by the aftermath of everything that had happened to be overly concerned about helpful strangers, though that possibility offered very little in the way of comfort to the Raging Blast Alchemist.

Still, they had lucked out in the end. Duel Academy had, for the moment, retreated, and the Dark Saiyan hadn't decided to take to the battlefield herself, something that had been a very real concern for everyone who had heard the tale of the Fusion Alliance's decimation against her.

Still, the question of why lingered, after Luffy had taunted her and especially considering her willingness to snuff out her own troops for their failures.

"Vine."

A woman's voice caught Vine off guard, and he turned to see Shantella approaching him.

"Something wrong, Shantella?"

"I need to talk to you, and Ed and Al."

"Huh? Okay, what's up?" Vine's curiosity and confusion were racing to see which could grow the fastest.

"I… I need to tell you the truth."
