And here's the second part of episode five! Don't have much to say for the beginning, so on to the chapter!
As we neared the temple, Ivor made sure everyone knew just how excited he was for the new 'Adventure'.
I heard Jesse and Petra whispering to each other about bringing him, but I didn't bother to pay attention.
"These trees are enormous! I love it so much!" Ivor suddenly shouted, like the dork he was.
And this is the same guy who tried to destroy the world a few months ago?
I know, right? I'd never believe it if I didn't already know.
Finally, we reached the temple, its ruins on full display in the daylight.
Seeing that Ivor was still in 'Child in a candy store' mode, Jesse decided to make a comment of his own, "Ivor, it's nice to see you smiling."
"I'm not smiling." Ivor replied quickly, dropping his excitement momentarily.
As soon as we got inside, we got this gem of a conversation:
"Petra! Midnight! Blond guy! Are you three as excited as I am?"
"I'm not sure that's possible." Petra responded with irritation.
"What?"
"She means that you just seem super excited, Ivor."
"There's no way we could be as excited as you, because that's too high of a bar." Jesse was walking over to a gaping hole in the temple's ceiling, with convenient vines to climb up.
Even though we said that we'd be right behind Jesse, no one actually started climbing until he found the portal.
"Ivor, I was just thinking… maybe that treasure-"
"The Eversource." Ivor interrupted.
"Yeah, that. Maybe those old dudes hid it in a portal?" This time, my laughter was unable to be contained, all because of the phrase 'old dudes.' Other than a quick glance and a grin from Lukas, I was ignored.
Jesse brought out the glowing flint and steel again, using it to light the portal, sending the five of us to the floor from some sort of force. It also knocked the flint and steel out of his hands.
And guess who was standing there to pick it up?
"Thanks for bringing this back to me, Jesse."
Of course, Aiden had to show up, along with the other Blaze Rods. Once our group was all up, Jesse responded.
"You're gonna regret that, Aiden." Almost as though there was some sort of parallel between conservations with different people. Huh.
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah."
"Oh yeah?" Gill repeated. As expected, Aiden wasn't impressed.
"Shut up, Gill." Aiden looked back at us, then to the portal behind us. "Step aside, Jesse. We're heading through that portal now." I briefly wondered if Maya and Gill even knew what Aiden was doing, or planning to do, or if they were just going along with it.
"Absolutely not." I spoke up with a glare.
"Fine." Aiden pocketed the flint and steel. "Blaze Rods? Clear me a path." You dirty coward.
Maya and Gill drew their swords, enchanted diamond ones, while Aiden stood back. The rest of us, in turn, drew our weapons as well. I wasn't able to find diamonds, but that didn't stop me from enchanting my axe, even if it was only iron.
One fight scene later…
Are you serious right now?
To quickly summarize what happened, even though it was 5 on 3 in our favor, we still somehow lost the battle, and the Blaze Rods jumped through the portal before any of us could.
Deciding to follow them (Because why wouldn't we?), the five of us jumped in after them.
Since the game is apparently fond of putting me in dangerous situations, I was the unlucky one standing right next to the edge of the island when Jesse appeared.
And knocked into me, nearly sending me to my death.
Thankfully, Jesse and Lukas were able to get me back to safety, and no off-hand comment was made about my weight.
"Okay, what just happened?" Jesse asked, staring at what appeared to be a completely bottomless pit. "I don't get it, how'd that portal even work?"
"It's probably similar to how a Nether portal works, but to a completely different world." I responded, looking for Sky City.
After realizing I was looking at the wrong side, the enormous city of gold and iron was in sight, below the island we were on (Despite the fact that the bridge we built was straight across to it?)
"A city in the clouds… it almost sounds impossible." Said the girl who had apparently never heard of Skyblock before.
"And yet, here we are."
We collectively agreed that the city was where we needed to go to find Aiden, and dug up most of the island to gather blocks to build a bridge. Unfortunately, that led to us being cramped on what little space was left before we started building. Once we made it, Ivor's lava heart was clear to see.
"Ivor, seriously?" Petra sighed, exasperated.
"This is in memory of my lava house." Aw, Jesse tore it down? "Long live lava!"
"You're building."
One of the more nervous citizens had watched us build across to the city, and he looked downright terrified of us.
"Is there something wrong with that?" Jesse asked, genuinely confused.
"I, uh… You don't know? You were building. Unauthorized building is against the law!" The nervous guy explained.
"Wait, there's a law against building?"
"Yes, it's forbidden!" I knew why, but still.
"Okay, I'll bite. Why's building against the law?" I don't know if Jesse was expecting a clear answer, I don't even know if the citizens of Sky City are aware of why building was against the law.
"Oh, this is making me terribly nervous. First those other outsiders, now you?" At that, Lukas and I frowned, though not necessarily at him.
"Other outsiders?"
"Where are they?"
"They went to the inn. I'm sorry, but that's all I know." He said quickly, before turning around and running off.
As we made our way in, Ivor started. "I wonder if everyone here is that…nervous…" And for once, I could understand why he trailed off.
Sky City was even more magnificent in person.
I really wanted this chapter to be longer, I was planning for it to end a little bit after Isa tries to arrest the New Order, but oh well. My plan for next time is to get to finding the Eversource, if not getting kicked off the city. We'll just have to see.
Midnight: On another note, at least we have our episode eight ending problem solved.
Yep! Unless there's something I'm forgetting, we should be good to go for the crossover.
Midnight: Even if you are forgetting something, we still have a few chapters to figure it out.
Exactly. With that out of the way, see you next time!
