Arrowverse Injustice: For The Girl Who Lost Everything (A "What-If?" Scenario):
"Earth-213, an Earth where humanity was able to put aside their greed and differences, and unite their world and unify it into decades of peace, but if you look closely, you will see that this peace was almost not to be. For the grand schemes and calculations of a Mulitverse of infinite possibilities, your actions and the actions of others will decide the future. And like planting a seed on fresh dirt in an empty space, the future will eventually grow roots in due time and sprout as a tree with delicate branches." A voice narrates.
"Supergirl, stop! Whatever you're seeing, IT'S NOT REAL!" Arrow shouted up in the sky, as he tapped his com device, hoping that Supergirl would hear what he said.
Supergirl heard it immediately and stopped what she was doing. As Rhea's body floated in space, the silver kryptonite faded out of Supergirl's body and her eyes widened in horror to see who it really was; Barry!
"Barry…?"
Immediately coming to her senses, Supergirl came to her senses. She instantly removed her cape and wrapped Barry with it, and safely took him with her back to Earth's atmosphere, as fast as she could.
"In one universe, Kara Zor-El was deceived into killing her fiance, Barry Allen, which then resulted in Central City and National City being destroyed simultaneously, and millions of lives were lost. The tragedies were too much for the Maiden of Might to handle and therefore, in retaliation, she killed the two perpetrators responsible for these horrific events; Lex Luthor and Adrian Chase, and set to 'protect' her world by ruling it under an iron fist. Founder and High Councilor of the One Earth Regime, Kara Zor-El was no longer Supergirl, but rather... Overgirl." The voice continued to narrate.
Oliver's resolve snapped, his hands dropping from Chase's collar and his bow quickly swiping to strike Chase in his face. The blow sent the Throwing Star-Killer stumbling, blood slipping from his lips. Flash (Wally) responded in kind, striking the archer in the back. the blow from the speedster was enough to send Chase collapsing to the floor. And Madame Steel shot her brother with a stun blast, knocking him out cold.
"However, in this universe..."
Hearing a sonic boom coming from the sky, Arrow looked back to the sky to see Supergirl speeding towards them, but with a red bundle in her arms. Supergirl landed on the ground softly, touching down a few feet from the others, with her red cape smoking slightly from the heat of re-entry. Kneeling in the sand, Supergirl placed Barry softly on the ground and her cape off of her fiance.
"Please." Supergirl begged, her voice a whisper.
None of them could look, the heroes dropping their gaze to the ground, they all feared the worst.
"Please!"
Then, he stirred. With a weak cough, Barry's eyes drifted open. Supergirl froze, unable to believe what she was seeing.
"Barry?"
"Kara." Her fiance smiled thinly.
"I almost…lost you." Supergirl sobbed, a tear running openly down her cheek.
"I'm okay, Kara." Barry smiled. "We're okay."
"...Supergirl was able to save her fiance in time, as well as save those cities in time." The voice finished.
Supergirl pulled her fiance into a hug and the two hold each other tightly. The heroes, mostly Arrow, Flash, Frost, Vibe, Superman, Valor, Madame Steel, and Martian Manhunter, all breathed sighes of relief. It took a few moments, but Supergirl helped Barry to his feet, the two not releasing their grip on each other even for a second. Supergirl felt himself tense as Supergirl turned, seeing her eyes lock onto Chase and Lex, the former who had manged to get back to his feet.
Arrow knew what she was thinking, probably better than Supergirl did herself.
"You bastards!" Supergirl snarled, turning to Chase. "You almost took them from me."
"Now, Supergirl." Chase began, blood still dripping from his nose. "Let's not do something violent and messy that we might regret."
"I will most certainly will not regret this—"
"Supergirl, no." Arrow stepped between her and Chase, a hand on her shoulder.
"Move aside, Oliver." She spoke lowly.
Arrow ignored her, instead turning to look at the other heroes who were surrounding them.
"Superman, Valor. Somewhere in National City, there's a nuclear warhead. Manhunter and Madame Steel, return the submarine to the bay and then join the search." He ordered. "Flash, Vibe, and Frost, there's another bomb somewhere in Central City. Find them and disarm them. Understood?"
"Yes, sir."
"I'll take Chase and Luthor to Star City and I'll try to learn the location of the warhead."
"I'll question Chase and Luthor!" Supergirl snarled.
"No." Arrow stopped her. "Look after Barry. Let me deal with them."
"Like you've dealt with him before?" Supergirl glared.
"Supergirl, I promise he will never hurt you again."
At an interrogation room in SCPD, Arrow simply glared at Chase and Lex
"Here we are again." Chase drawled, looking up at Arrow. There were no words, nothing Arrow could say. No pleas that Chase reform his ways, no threats to be made to get information, no physical violence to stop him that could even begin to measure up.
"Don't give me the silent treatment, Oliver, I know you're curious, you want to know, don't you?" Still, Arrow said nothing. "You're not even going to ask about the bomb?"
"The League will find it." Arrow said, his voice sounding hoarse and fractured even to him.
At that, Chase grinned a little.
"Then why are we here? You wanted to save us from Supergirl? Make sure she didn't get the chance to do what you've always been too afraid to do? You need me, Oliver, and she needs Lex. You can't kill me without becoming me, without killing the last thing that you're holding onto from before, without breaking the promise you made to Tommy." Chase said, taunting Arrow.
It killed Arrow to hear those words because, in so many ways, Chase was right. The twisted son of a bitch that was sat before him was nothing like Arrow had ever encountered, but he had still been unable to take a decisive stroke and kill him like Arrow had so many others due to a promise he made to Tommy years ago. Arrow promised that he would kill again while fighting crime and evil, but this had cost him several times before. However, now it had almost cost two whole cities of innocents their lives.
More than that, it had almost cost Supergirl her fiance. She was the Girl of Steel, the Maiden of Might, one of the greatest heroes of Earth and the most incorruptible shining light, the very best of them all. Yet, if she had lost what she almost had, if she lost Barry, Arrow dreaded to think what she might have become.
Lex decided to... taunt Arrow
"Though, I must say, Mr. Queen; I found Ms. Danvers to be an intriguing change. I think Mr. Chase and I, will try again with her, maybe wait until she finally marries that fiance of hers—"
And with that, Arrow just snapped.
With mechanical, emotionless action that disturbed even him, Arrow lunged forward. The arrows were drawn from his quiver without any conscious thought, and a fraction of a second later the sharp tip had ripped through Chase's throat, and the other was shot, right at Lex's heart. Chase let out a strangled gurgle of surprise that cut out a moment later as his body went slack in the chair. Arrow kept pushing, with one hand gripping Chase's shoulder, and the other wrapped around the flights of the arrow, until the flat side of his fist was pressed up against Chase's throat too.
Finally, he stopped. A shuddering breath escaped him as Arrow stood upright, his grip in both hands released, seeing his right gloved was stained red.
There was hardly a moment to consider what had happened when Arrow heard voices outside the door. From how close they sounded, Arrow had seconds at best before Lance and whoever was accompanying him would be inside the room.
Arrow looked down, at the slumped corpses, and for the first time in years didn't see the monster that Chase had become, but the man he had been. There hadn't been an option, he knew that, but still, a line had been crossed. Arrow had killed before, but not like that. Never like that. He swore a promise to Tommy, and he broke it, and now; he knows what he must do.
By the time Captain Lance stepped into the room, with Detective Drake, D.A Laurel Lance (Black Canary/Arrow's wife) and Lieutenant Pike on either side of him, Arrow was stood over the corpses of the man who had once tried to break him and the psychotic businessman. Arrow then dropped his compound bow on the floor, then he removed his mask and pulled down his hood, and knelt to the ground in a surrendering position as he raised his hands and put them behind his head.
"Quentin, I need to report a crime." He said before three officers stormed into the room and handcuffed Arrow.
"Though further tragedies were avoided, they do not fill the hole on what has transpired already. Two weeks later, all officers and fellow colleagues of CCPD held a funeral service dedicated to Patty Spivot, Julian Albert, Joe West, and Elongated Man, along with close friends, family, and allies attending the service. The tragedy was difficult to process it forced Barry and Supergirl to hold off on their marriage to grieve the loss of their friends and family. After the funeral, Cecile decided to take Jenna with her, leave Central City, and live with Joanie in Coast City, the loss of her husband was too much for her, with Frost, Vibe, Barry, and the others understanding. Flash had also left Central City, in hopes to find clarity and peace, but with the promise that he will return if they ever need him." The voice began to narrate once more.
"Another two weeks later, Arrow was then sentenced to Slabside Prison for the murders of Lex Luthor and Adrian Chase, murders from his time as the Hood, along with assault, burglary, and other multiple felonies. The arresting agent was Samantha Watson, and the arrest sparked controversy amongst the people of Starling City and the Feds faced multiple demands to release Arrow. However, with the help of the President, the charges against Arrow and his team became void and they were all cleared of any wrongdoing, and Samantha Watson was stripped of her badge and arrested for conducting an illegal investigation, interference in the said investigation, and harassment of Arrow's friends and family. However, Mr. Queen stayed in Slabside, stating his reasons why he must stay there. With his 'crimes' as Arrow erased, and hopefully along with good behavior, Mr. Queen may be released in five years."
"Three months later, few streets were renamed after Joe, Patty, and Julian, and memorial statues were built in front of CCPD in their honor with a plaque reading; "Dedicated to the Heroes of Central City."
"The Legends eventually all retired and went their separate ways; the Atom and Nora Darhk settled down in a nice home, married, and had children of their own, eventually adopting a teenage girl; Rachel Roth. Beside John Constantine and a stage magician named Zatanna, Nora Darhk and Atom taught Rachel how to control her powers and overcome the darkness within her."
"White Canary returned to the League of Assassins and to her beloved wife Nyssa, and together, alongside Black Canary I (Laurel), Black Canary II (Dinah), Speedy, and Arsenal; they were able to dismantle H.I.V.E., the Thanatos Guild, the Ninth Circle, and eliminate Dark Archer's League of Assassins, one-by-one, even killing Damien Darhk, Emiko Queen, Dante, and Dark Archer in the process. Eventually, Speedy and Arsenal married and they founded the League of Heroes, along with White Canary and Nyssa. And together, the four began a new history for the League, one with heroism, integrity, and honor."
" Mick Rory, Heatwave, had also retired and walked away from his life of crime. He instead wrote science fiction novels, detailing his time-traveling adventures with the Legends under the pen name; Rebecca Silver. Leonard Snart, Captain Cold, had also retired from his life of crime as well, but he now travels across America and fights crime under a new name; Citizen Cold. Alongside his sister Lisa, Golden Glider, the Snarts became a force for good and became recognized and respected by civilian and superhero communities alike, even respected by local law enforcement."
"The Hawks had also retired, Kendra and Carter had settled down in a place by Blue Valley and lived their peaceful lives at last, away from immortals who would hunt them down. That's... all I got for them."
"Martian Manhunter eventually tendered his resignation as Director of the D.E.O. and handed the title to Sentinel, who then chose Valor as her first-in-command officer, and Winn and Madame Steel. Sometime later, Cadmus made themselves known to the world once more to send a message to America; that those responsible for the death of Lex Luthor and associated with Supergirl and the Arrow will pay for their 'crimes', along with their cities and families. Ben Lockwood was also in the fray, with his radical Children of Liberty, but he later revealed to Sentinel, Supergirl, Superman, and Madame Steel that his allegiance to Cadmus was the result of coercion; Lillian Luthor had threatened his family, but 'promised' to spare them if he did what she asked, and Lockwood had then revealed that he will betray Lillian when she is at her weakest.
"Days later, Cadmus was defeated; John Corben and Hank Henshaw were defeated, and Lillian Luthor was arrested and sentenced to Stryker's Island for life on the charges of terrorist threats, enacting chaos, and for treason against the American Government. Ben Lockwood was going to turn himself over to the D.E.O. for his crimes in assisting Cadmus, but Sentinel assured that he had no choice and these actions were not his fault, so she offered him a job at the D.E.O. as a second chance; he considered and accepted the job. Now, Lockwood fights crime and evil as an agent of the DEO and a Hero of National City, with many dubbing him "Agent Liberty".
"Sometime later, Wally returned with and helped Team Flash finally find a way to restore Barry's powers. Together, with the help of Frost, Harry, Jay, and Vibe, Barry Allen became the Fastest Man Alive once more. Wally then returned the Flash mantle to Barry and left S.T.A.R. Labs once more, to make his own path in the world, reassuring the others that he will return when the time is right."
"Then 6 months later, Barry Allen and Kara Zor-El finally tied the knot, with Supergirl revealing that she is nine months pregnant. When Supergirl tossed the wedding bouquet, Frost was the one to grab it and looks at her boyfriend, Winn, who blushed and received many teasing smiles and pats from Vibe, Olsen, Martian Manhunter, Superman, Lois, Maggie, and Mon-El. A few days later, an ultrasound test in the Fortress of Solitude revealed that Supergirl is carrying twin babies. A girl and a boy. The girl's name was decided, Nora Astra Danvers-Allen, named after Barry's mother and Supergirl's aunt Astra. And the boy was named Henry Joseph Danvers-Allen, named after Barry's biological and adoptive fathers and to honor the latter." The voice finished narrating.
Three Years Later:
"I'm here to see Oliver Queen." Barry announced as he arrived outside of Slabside, in his Flash uniform.
The guards didn't argue as he was led to the visitation wing. Arrow was already sat behind the glass screen when she arrived. He grinned as he looked up at her, and Barry observed him as she took her seat opposite him. He looked rough, a black eye, his stubble heavy. Like he had just gone five rounds with Bronze Tiger.
"Wow, Oliver, you look like crap." Barry remarked
"Well, I've looked worse." Arrow chuckled. "How are you, Barry?"
"All good, man. I have news." Barry smiled.
"They're twins. One's a girl and the other is a boy." Arrow smirked.
"That obvious?" Barry asked, surprised that Arrow got it quick.
"Yep." Arrow simply said
Barry chuckled, rolling his eyes amusingly.
Barry looked down, avoiding Arrow's eyes for a moment.
"Why did you do it, Oliver?" He asked eventually.
"Chase and Lex… they almost destroyed two entire cities. All of those people. And he almost killed you. He was…"
"He was going to try again." Barry finished for him.
"Yes." Arrow answered solemnly. "And if you'd died, then Kara would've been the one to…well I couldn't let that happen to you or to her. I know I made a promise to Tommy, that I would no longer kill again unless it was necessary, but what good is that promise if monsters like them will walk free and kill again? Tommy was like a brother to me and I failed him, but you're my brother too, Barry, and I almost failed you. And truth be told, I'd rather be the one to take the fall and go to prison, then let you die or let Kara fall from grace and lose her way." He finished.
"You killed him, turned yourself in, to save me and Kara?" Barry asked.
Arrow didn't say anything but nodded his head, as a response to Barry's question
Without a second thought, Barry got to her feet and stepped forward, phasing through the glass windows of the visiting panel. Arrow jumped to his feet and stepped back to avoid getting in the way. Barry ignored the guards as they aimed their weapons and pulled Arrow into a brotherly embrace.
"Thank you, brother." Arrow returned the embrace, while patting Barry on the shoulder.
Pulling out of the brotherly embrace, Barry continued. "You know, with good behavior, you could be out by the time the twins are five."
"I'm not exactly behaving well here, Barry." Arrow grinned wickedly. "I'm beating up a lot of people."
Barry placed his hand on Arrow's shoulder. "Say the word and we walk out of here, man. We'll be in and out before anyone notices."
"I killed two men, Barry. I crossed a line and broke a promise. I must fulfill my sentence." Arrow shook his head.
"Chase and Lex weren't even human to begin with, just like Thawne or Zolomon." Barry pointed out.
"I need to do the time. Go, live your lives, my friend." Arrow encouraged.
"Supergirl never knew. She never knew what she was missing, or much she wanted this; a family. Someone who was like her. Someone she could truly hold without hurting. This is all she ever wanted; the warm, loving embrace of a family."
"There are moments that all parents talk eventually about, from their child's first word to their first steps..."
"Mommy! Daddy!" Nora Astra Danvers-Allen and Henry Joseph Danvers-Allen called out.
Supergirl and Barry were at their sides in an instant, to see Nora floating in the air and Henry with electricity coursing his body. Mother and daughter practiced levitation outside of the Danvers-Allen family cabin, while father and son raced across the country.
The twins had been training for almost as long as they could both remember, for about 20 years of being taught by the greatest heroes to walk the Earth; Frost helped Nora perfect her freeze breath, while she, Harry, Jesse, Vibe, Jay, Wally, and Barry also taught Henry how to control his speed. Later, Martian Manhunter, Superman, Valor, and Jordan Kent (Superboy) had taught Nora how to fly.
Arrow, Arsenal, and Speedy conditioned Nora to aim her heat vision with the temperament of an archer, as well as Henry with his lightning throw. The three archers also taught the Super Twins how to fight and be aware of their surroundings, with additional help from Nyssa, Sentinel, the Canary Sisters, and Dinah.
"...To their child's first flight, first rescue, and the first time they put on their suits." The voice said.
And now, 20 years later, above in Space, Superwoman (A/N: Kara Zor-El in about twenty years later, with her Season 5 suit, but with the "Kingdom Come" logo on her suit) floats in the orbit around Earth, alongside Supergirl (Nora now bearing the Supergirl mantle) as they looked down at the planet below them.
"What is it, Nora?" Superwoman asked her.
"It's everything." Nora answered. "I can see it. The world…"
"Is pulling apart." Superwoman finished.
"What do we do?"
"We can do what we want. We have the power." Superwoman answered. "We can stop them from hurting themselves. We can control the destiny of this world."
"Or, you know, we could not sound like B-Grade supervillains?" Nora smiled at her mother. "We can't do this alone. We can't fight all their battles for them. You taught me that. We can't push back rising tides. I can't fight against super-storms."
"You tried, didn't you?" Superwoman smiled affectionately.
"Yeah, I gave a super-storm such a punching."
"What would you do?" Superwoman asked after a few moments.
"I think…could we talk to them?"
"I'm not one of them, Nora. No matter what I say, I, alongside your Uncle Clark and Uncle Mon-El, we will always be seen as outsiders to them."
But Henry and I are one of them, even Jon and Jordan." Nora answered, looking down at the planet below. "Maybe we can tell them what I see from here."
A few days later, and called an address at the United Nations. Between the League and their secret identities, they had the influence. Supergirl, Superboy, and Impulse (A/N: his suit is the Flash Suit from Zack Snyder's Justice League, just with red and silver colors.) stood above them all, looking out at the world leaders that had congregated to hear her speak.
"My brother and I are the children of two worlds. We were born in this world, but our mother is a refugee from another, while our father is a being of this world." Supergirl began.
"And the same is for me and my brother. Our father is a refugee of the same world, and our mother is of this world. We are the Children of Earth and Krypton." Superboy said.
"The world of our families is gone. Our entire people, our race is all extinct, save for us and our families. They are gone because their narrow-minded leaders fought against the truth, and that is something we cannot allow; for our world to go the same way." Impulse continues.
"Intelligent people are telling us that our days are numbered. And I wanted to speak to you today to tell you I can see it. When I look at the Earth I can see that we don't have long." Supergirl said, taking over for her brother.
The Danvers-Allen Twins and Jordan looked out across the audience to see their families sitting in front of them; Superwoman in her suit and Barry in his civilian suit, and Superman in his suit alongside Lois, Jon, and Jordan's wife, Sarah. More heroes were scattered across the audience, some in costume, others as their civilian selves.
"We are out of time. There is no more time for cruelty, for greed, for self-interest to rule us." Supergirl speaks.
"There is no more time to waste listening to the loud voices of the ignorant." Impulse said, continuing where his sister left off.
"There is no more time to fight each other. There is a better fight. A fight for our survival." Superboy speaks, nearing the end of the speech.
"We can't do it alone, but we can help. Because we believe all of us, together, can still save our world." The three finished.
Supergirl, Impulse, and Superboy were all met to thunderous applause.
Much later, once the speeches were through and the audience had moved to mingle and discuss ideas, Superwoman and Barry went to one person that they both wanted to interact with.
"Well, Oliver?" She asked Arrow.
"What'd you think, Oliver?" Barry asked.
"A bit preachy." Arrow deadpanned, smirking at the same time, with Laurel lightly smacking his shoulder.
"Superwoman. Mr. Allen." President Lena Luthor smiled as she walked up to them. "I hope you don't mind my saying, but that girl of yours just made you both look like mere mortals."
"Thank you, Madame President." Superwoman grinned.
"Kara, please, it's Lena." Madame Steel chuckled, as she hugged Superwoman.
"Yeah, Laurel, Oliver thought it was a little preachy." Barry smiled as he shook Laurel's hand.
"No, he didn't. I was watching him, and saw his cynicism crack at least twice." Laurel teased, throwing Arrow a wicked look.
The five friends then laughed.
"Shall we get to work then?" Lena asked them all, and the quintet smiled, none of them seeing Supergirl and Impulse looking on in triumph.
"And so, many years have passed since the fateful speech in the United Nations, and all nations across the globe have put aside their grudges and each country has dedicated each of their resources to do everything necessary to bring true peace and unity to Earth-213. The Heroes of Earth-213, from the Justice League, the newly-formed Justice Society of America, and all the way to the Teen Titans stopped and ended all threats to this universe; from stopping terrorist organizations, preventing evil magic from being unleashed, to repelling and defeating evil New Gods and their armies from hellish worlds. And it has been so for 15 long years now that Earth is truthfully at peace."
"Where are they?"
Superwoman turned to see Barry walking out onto the balcony of the penthouse, wrapped in a blanket that Eliza had made for them all those years ago. Even with his greying hair, and the wrinkles around her eyes, Kara thought that Barry was still the most handsome man she had ever encountered.
"Greenland," Kara answered as her husband came to her side, without hesitation she wrapped an arm around Barry's waist. "Those two, alongside Jordan, and a team of scientists from around the world are literally cooling glaciers."
Nora and Henry were doing so much for the world, and they had become a better Supergirl and Flash than Superwoman and Barry had ever been. Sure, those two have protected the world from monsters, villains, and apocalypses time and again, but those two were truly saving the planet.
"Are you going to join them?" Barry asked his wife.
"No, they can handle it," Superwoman looked up at the night sky and sighed. "It's going too quickly."
Barry looked across at his wife. "What is?"
"Everything," Superwoman closed her eyes. "I wish we had more days together."
Barry took Superwoman's hand and held it. "Is it the voices again?"
"Yes, they're at the edges. They're calling."
"It's okay. Block them out." Turning to face Superwoman, Barry reached up and cupped her face with both hands. "Stay with me, Kara. We will have many more days."
Barry and Kara then leaned in and kissed, until they finally broke apart. The couple then rested their foreheads on each other.
"I love you, Barry Allen." Superwoman whispered, kissing her husband on the cheek.
I love you, Kara Danvers." Barry smiled, kissing his wife on her forhead
I think we all needed softness after the previous chapter, right?
Also, the bold and italics words were quotes from the voice of Mar Novu/The Monitor, but he's more like Uatu the Watcher. For the voice, just imagine him being voiced by Jeffery Wright from the "What-If?". Yea, after seeing Arrow Season 8, Flash Season 6, and Supergirl Season 6, Mar Novu was all cryptic and manipulative to his 'allies' (air quotes on allies.), and the Watcher is better than the Monitor.
