"Hi kids..." Crow offered with a cheery wave as the elevator that brought the kids up from the ground floor arrived.
Rua gave a passing wave as he peeled out of his shoes and took off running towards his shared bedroom without a second glance. Patti was hot on his heels, barely avoiding falling on her face while tripping over her feet. Bob and Tenpai were far more sedate, as they pulled off their shoes and walked into the living room.
"Hello! Sorry about this, we're just here to pick up our books," Tenpai greeted as he bowed.
"Rua! Where's your bag?" Bob called out at the same time as he looked around for something kid sized.
The occupants of the room that Tenpai talked to blinked almost in unison. The red head in brown riding leathers had a casual arm draped over Yusei's shoulder, Jack was kicked back in a reclining posture with a tea cup in one hand, a saucer in the other. A colorfully dressed woman they really didn't recognize was clearly making up for Jack's lack of color. Due to his all white riding suit, gave a bright smile as she waved at him.
Yusei gave them a polite nod, shooting murderous glances to his left and right and back again.
"Its in the living room, next to the couch," Rua called out.
His words directed the pair and they began searching the couch, Bob's taller frame allowing him to see that Yusei's hands were behind his back.
"Problem." Jack muttered behind his tea cup as he watched the pair dive down on apparently the desired object.
"We got your book too Patti!" Tenpai called out while Bob handed out the books.

"Thank you! I'll be right there!" Patti answered from Ruka's bedside. Ruka didn't look terrible, even if she was still resting. Awake while her tired eyes still had the life to convey her happiness at seeing her best friend.
"You should be home with your grandma," Ruka pointed out tiredly while squeezing Rua's hand in alarm. 'Book? They're here for the autograph books? Rua! You forgot who 'signed' it!' she thought in mounting panic that wasn't going to show up on a face as tired as hers' but hey she tried.
"I'm going, I just wanted to check in with you before I left," Patti answered, oblivious to Ruka's mounting alarm.
"Patti! OH MY GODS PATTI!" Tenpai and Bob began calling out, their voices getting more higher pitch and excited by the second. They began repeating her name going faster and faster until it was a stream of just 'PattiPattiPatti'. The pair rushed to the bedroom holding their autograph books in their hands fairly vibrating with excitement. Eyes so wide that she could see the whites of their eyes all the way from Ruka's bedside.
"Eep..." Rua squeaked out as the pair of guys walked in holding out their books.
"Its Yugi... Patti, they met 'Yugi'!" Bob's voice shook as Patti's eyes were brought down to the book presented to her.
Blinking in disbelief Patti looked down at the books where across a page black ink was scrawled. 'To my stead fast fan, Robert, signed Mouto, Yugi' read one, the other read 'To my loyal fan Tenpai, signed Mouto Yugi'. She blinked as she read the words over and over again trying to process that of 'all' the people the twins got to meet. It was 'Yugi'?! Suddenly she wondered what hers said, and almost as though he heard her thoughts, Tenpai held out her book.
She accepted the book with her hands shaking slightly before opening the page and flipping through the pages. Fairly ripping the pages out of her way when she passed the black ink that she saw the others written in. The words bringing to her to tears.
'I believe in you Patti, signed Mouto, Yugi.'
"I suddenly understand why Ruka's heart seized up," Bob commented as he went back to looking at the book. "I mean, they can't go around bragging they saw Yugi, they'd get no peace."
"Yeah... what if someone tries to steal our autograph books?" Tenpai asked before hugging his book to his chest possessively.
Patti shook her head, sending her curls swinging about before she turned back to look at Ruka.
"Thank you! This is the best gift ever. I really needed this!" She rubbed her eyes with the back of her arm. Scrubbing away at the tears that were falling down her face.
"Its uh, well we didn't think we'd get those autographs either. Just super lucky I guess," Rua offered with forced cheer. One hand held his sisters' the other was placed behind his head in a typical 'Rua' fashion. "But uh, yeah, your grandma probably will start getting worried if you're not home soon..."
"Yeah.. we should go and let Ruka rest," Tenpai agreed with a nod.
"The more rest she gets, the faster she can come back to school," Bob seemingly recited from something he either heard or made up. The trio waved to the twins, fairly vibrating with the urge to run home. Autographs of Yugi's were expensive due to his long absence and they needed to find a safe spot to hide their new treasures.
Carly sat there with a frozen smile on her face, her hand waving bye to the kids mechanically as they left. On the one hand she couldn't 'feel' her face from all the crying she had done coupled with her determination to follow Yusei's example. Until a body was found, Aki was alive. The other was that she didn't expect Jack and Crow's 'solution' to Yusei's determination to follow that mindset include a physical brawl.
Just let the kids go, don't stop or ask why Yusei hadn't used his hands at all because they were tied behind his back. Never in Carly's life had she been so grateful for a sparse living area as she had strove to keep tables from being broken.
"I'm impressed you guys didn't bust his head in..." Carly had rhetorically, but mostly seriously, asked as she desperately pulled the table up before Jack sent Yusei through it. Because he 'tried'.
"Yeah well, black eyes, busted noses, they raise questions and Yusei is looking after kids," Crow explained as he struggled to wrangle Yusei into the ropes.
'Yeah Carly, you didn't know you were dating a gang member... Jack stop looking like you're having fun.' The poor reporter thought as she struggled to keep the condo in one piece and not disturb Ruka. There was no way she was going to be able to just walk into the twins bedroom and explain this to the girl if they woke her up. 'Yeah boys will be boys' didn't feel right to the reporter.
'I'm just grateful they didn't want to hang out, I'm not sure any of us could explain why Yusei is tied up...' Carly thought as the trio disappeared through the door. "Hey, why don't I go talk to those high school students? Find out what happened?" She offered now that the boys were settled down, Rua was home so she would be free to do her thing. Finding proof that Aki was alive or finding closure over the friend she lost. Pulling out her deck from her hip she began shuffling as she began focusing more on her question. 'Will I be able to uncover anything regarding Aki if I go out tonight?'
Uselessly invisible to her, her Fortune Fairies danced about Carly's head, a swirl of rainbow colors that glided along with Carly's shuffling. When she finally stopped Hikari was the one in front of her and began cheering.
Carly slipped the top of the card from the deck before reading aloud, "Fortune Fairy Hikari! Super happy fortune!"
"YEAH! Believe in my Fortune Carly! Let's go!" Hikari cheered with her golden light outshining the other fairies.
Crow stared at Carly as she shuffled baffled before glancing at Jack, "sure it would be a great help. I don't know Aki at all, and well. We gotta baby sit Yusei so if you could it would help a lot."
"Stay out of trouble," Jack ordered glancing down at her only to get a look from both Crow and Carly.
"What? Scared that a high schooler is going to sweep her off her feet?" Crow asked before getting bopped in anger from Jack.
"Whatever, I'll be back later when I find out what happened." She bounced out of her seat and trotted out of the room. Gathering up her purse from a near by side table she waited by the door for the elevator to come up.
"You going to behave so we can try to make something for dinner?" Crow asked nonchalantly as he looked over at Yusei's glare. "The twins will have questions if we let you go to the table tied up you know."
"He'll behave or he'll get beaten into the ground again," Jack decreed before making a dismissive gesture with his hand. "Go make something to eat since the woman just left without even thinking. Again."
"That 'woman' owns you," Crow pointed out as he did as told. Since the 'King' never did learn how to make anything beyond tea and sandwiches. Crow wanted to live, so he wasn't going to risk letting Jack have free roam settings in the kitchen. 'Man never thought we'd end up with a gang of girls in our group who are all psychics... This is weird.' Aki and Ruka could both talk to spirits, Jack was dating a girl who apparently made decisions based on what card she drew. Oh and she also had a friend who read 'faces' to determine their fortune.
'Well, this group is certainly going to be a whole new version of 'fun',' he decided as he stuck his head in the fridge to see what was there.
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ Tenjoin house hold \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
It felt like he never left.
Their home had the same paint on the walls, the picture in front of him was the same hanging picture of the four of them at the beach. Even the air smelled and felt the same. Sure the clothes was a little tight about the chest, his build had toned up apparently over the two years. But all in all it was home. 'He' was home.
His mom had been baking up a storm up in the kitchen, plying him with every baked good she could come up with every time she saw him. She saw him a lot.
His arms were loaded with baked breads, his hands filled with cookies and his mouth had a sandwich she had made. He could still see her when he walked into the house for the first time, while covered in soot and ash.
Asuka had unlocked the door and walked into the apartment after they had repeatedly shaken out their clothes. Working to get as much dust and dirt off them, and ignore the stares everyone gave. If Asuka got concerned looks he got straight up shocked ones. No one approached him though, not with his black on black attire and all he could do was give apologetic smiles. But the apartment door was the same with Asuka opening the door with shaking hands.
'I'm home...' he thought as he stood there. For the first time in a little over two years he was finally walking to the front door of his own will. Before it had taken everything he had just to teleport in, but left him so drained he couldn't do anything but stare. Now... 'Do I have the right to even come back?'
"Mom!" Asuka called out as she walked into the apartment, nearly ripping the shoes off her feet as she move. "Mom he's home! Fubuki's home!"
It nearly stopped him in his place as he heard Asuka call that out. He stood just in the doorway to the apartment where the shoes were lined up against the wall as always. Gods, even his slippers were waiting where he had left them. 'I don't know if it would have been better to see my slippers gone or that they're here...' he thought as Asuka grabbed his arm and dragged him past the warm, worn blue slippers that had captured his attention.
He saw his mom standing before the dinner table, it was half set between the kids and her. There were a few more lines that he didn't recall being on her face and a pinched look in the corner of her mouth. Her eyes narrowed in disapproval as she scanned Asuka's dusty dirty state before zeroing in on the black clad guy standing behind the blond.
"Fu-Fubuki?" She stammered out as she walked right into the table before using it to guide her feet around so she could reach him. "Is that you?"
"Yeah I know I'm late for dinner, I'll just snack on the left overs..." He answered with awkward flippancy. The way he used to answer all the other times he came home late from hanging out with his friends. But there was no way to be that relaxed and despite being coated in dust as well he ended up with his arms filled with his mom.
Standing in the living room with his mom sobbing in hysterics for a good bit before she started hitting him. Asuka wasn't the only strong woman in the family after all, but he was glad he avoided the bruises due to his coat! Hours later he found himself standing in the hallway with arms full of food while behind him his sister was in the bath crying.
He could hear it despite her effort to hide it, every time she sniffled she splashed the water. She wanted a clean win he knew. She wanted it all with all of them returning safely home, and Aki didn't come back. He remembered the girl from her out of control Duel Spirits, so hearing about her again after all these years. Time spent apparently learning to control her powers was great.
So of course she would be killed saving a guy she didn't know for his sister who was now torn between the elation of getting her brother back. With loss of a friend. 'And here I am unable to think of anything to say because... well the sandwich in my mouth. But there's nothing I can do really. The spirits can't find any of her deck, so either someone kidnapped her and her whole deck. Or Yusuke destroyed her deck the way he destroyed mine. Yu why? Why won't you believe in me and Ryo? Why can't our friendship be enough for you? If you 'did' kill Aki's deck...'
His thoughts were distracted by a knock at the door, causing him to look away from the wall and towards the living room area. Without thinking he walked to the door bread rolls still protectively perched in his arms as he moved along. He passed his bedroom, where it had been enshrined all during the time of his absence.
Tucking one of the bread rolls under his chin he reached for the door and opened it without any consideration to the sandwich or anything else. When he found a woman standing there, in laid back jeans and bright yellow shirt. The biggest bottle thick glasses he ever saw before with a widows peak bangs and long black hair. Who looked read to start grilling for questions with that notepad and pen until she saw him.
They shared this quiet long look before he tried to mouth 'hello' to her.
"You nearly lost your onion tongue," she pointed out with a twist of the lips while he tightened up his mouth and held out a bread roll in offering.
"Oh! For me? Thanks!" Without thought she accepted the bread roll and took a bite out of it before seeming to remember why she was here. "You must be Tenjoin, Fubuki! Hi! My name is Nagisa, Carly and I'd like to ask you a few question!"
'Well since my hand is free now...' he thought in amusement before grabbing the sandwich with said free hand. "That was fast. Though I didn't expect my sudden return to illicit a response out of reporters."
"Oh, this is more personal, I'm friends with Aki and uh..." He watched as her head tilted to the side as she seemed to run out of the premade script she had written up. 'Oh... Aki's friend... Asuka told me a little about her outside of school circle of friends...'
'Do all high school boys have to be taller than me? Kids should be shorter until they've graduated!' Carly mentally huffed in frustration at her shortness, 'good bread though, gotta find out where he gets these rolls!'
"I see. ..." he stepped back from the door and directed her with a tilt of his head while bracing himself. The lady was cute and harmless looking, but he already knew about Aki's more 'dangerous' friends and lover. It was just a matter of time..
