CHAPTER 3

A/N: ATTENTION! Chapter with 'slight' anguish. Spoiler: You already know about who.

No, no more Robin has arrived yet... maybe next time ; D

Canary smiled at the girl as they sat in the mountain meeting room.

Carrie smiled back, relaxed as she looked around, she looked like a female version of Dick.

"Very well, hello." Zatara smiled too as everyone sat down. 'I think you'll need an explanation.'

"Please," she replied.

"As Canary explained before." Batman sat across from the girl. ''Our covert operations team was involved to prevent the auction of an unidentified weapon. Weapon which was fired at our Robin and brought you into our world.'

"I've managed to identify the arrival of at least a few Robins, and according to my spells, when they all arrive, they'll all likely instantly return to where they were before coming here," Zatara added.

"At least something good," Carrie whispered to herself.

"Have you dealt with the multiverse before?" Superman asked calmly with a small smile.

''I do not. And the justice league in my world fell apart ten years ago thanks to a government order, only you are allowed, although Batman has tried to come back for the past year. I wouldn't be able to tell you if my league has already dealt with it, I started as Robin a few months ago and thanks to the latest developments, the bat and I have been hiding so I can train."

"Hidden?" Canary asked.

'' Batman faked his own death, his identity was revealed to the whole world. He's been training me and a few others to protect Gotham, who was returning to the villains."

"Can't he assume another identity himself and protect Gotham himself?" Batman asked. Which was actually what he was likely to do once the dust settled.

''He is fifty-six years old. I don't think it's that easy, even for him.'

"Wait, fifty?" Canary asked startled, then glanced at the three men in the room. ''I thought just the date was the difference between our worlds.''

"I never said any of that." Zatara defended herself. ''The multiverse differs from each other, and as we see, her world is nothing like ours. Yes, maybe a Robin will appear from a similar world, but the chances of that are slim.''

''We are deviating from the subject. Carrie, I hope you can answer some questions." Batman interrupted the teammates.

Carrie nodded.

''Don't you know which Earth came from?''

''Not.''

"And is it likely that your Earth won't get the technology to seek you out if the spell doesn't return it on its own?"

''I would say that.''

"I don't even think we could make it anytime soon," Canary whispered to herself.

"What?" the girl asked.

"We'll find a way if we need to, don't worry." Superman reassured her.

"How old are you?" Batman asked, drawing her attention back to the subject.

''Fourteen.''

'And it's been Robin for a year.'

''Almost a year.''

"What did you do before you were brought to our world?"

''I was about to fill out the evening report, I was about to sit in the chair. People must have been scared when I disappeared.'

"You're likely to go back to the exact moment you left if the spell itself gives you back, so that won't be a problem for you." The mage replied.

''You mentioned two Robins back there. Who are they and where are they?

"Do they know your identity?" Carrie asked suspiciously pointing to the three other adults in the room.

''Yes.''

She shrugged. `The first Robin was Dick Grayson, he retired as Robin at age nineteen and began his career as a solo hero Nightwing. It remained active until ten years ago when supers were banned. After that he retired and disappeared off the map, I don't know where he is."

"No one went after him after Batman's identity was revealed?" Canary asked worriedly. Where was her bird? Although he was no longer a little boy in Carrie's world, maybe he was thirty or older, she didn't know. Maybe he wasn't even alive…no, Dick wouldn't let himself get killed that easily, she refuses to think about it.

She didn't know, but Bruce was having the same thoughts across the table.

Followed by thoughts like: Why doesn't the other me have contact with Dick? What happened? Where is my son?

"B said he was safe, but he didn't say where or how, so I don't think so," Carrie replied truthfully. She was curious herself, she had long wanted to meet the only other Robin alive in her world. And speaking of Robin alive.

'' As for the second Robin, his name was Jason. The Joker caught him two years before heroes were banned.''

The color drained from the faces of the members of the league.

Not.

No, not a Robin.

She pursed her lips at their silence. ''Please do not prohibit the team from leaving. It's common for heroes to die on the job and this Robin died from a betrayal he didn't expect. And if you forbid them from leaving, then they will sneak out and that will increase the chances of what happened to Jason happening!'' Carrie spoke desperately and without realizing it ended up recounting one of the events that led to the death of her predecessor.

The adults noticed and grew even paler.

"No... we won't ban them," Canary replied. ''Maybe increase training, but not forbid them to leave.'' At least not after hearing that.

Zatara rose and asked. ''I'll do a magic read on you, okay? To let us know that all of this didn't hurt you and probably try to figure out which world you came from."

As soon as the magician ended, Superman gulped and stood up, the room tense with information they didn't expect to receive. ''I think this is enough for today, if we have any doubts we will ask you. Please, if you need something do not hesitate to ask or ask. We have no idea how long you'll need to stay and we're sorry for…" He looked at the bat, which was quiet.

Bruce came back to himself when Clark looked at him, still not knowing how to deal with it, he continued his friend's speech, talking as if he were reading a pre-prepared script. "We're sorry for the unforeseen event and for putting you under this strain, but the league agreed that we needed basic information to differentiate each Robin that comes and experiences from their worlds to avoid confusion."

She nodded, relieved to be able to leave the room.

Everyone got up and Canary led her out of the room.

Zatara cleared his throat. ''That, that was more than I expected to know about her, I didnt think she fossed answer the questions or trust us, but…Ieill keep an eye out for the next Robins that arrive. Call me when the next one arrives. And…I really hope it's from a better world than hers." He left the room.

Superman placed a hand on Bruce's shoulder. "You know this has no chance of happening in our world, don't you?"

''What if it happens Clark?

''Different epochs B. There is no chance of this happening and if it comes close to happening, we know how we can stop it. We have an advantage in this and we won't let a Robin fall.'

'And where is Dick in all this?'

"I don't know, but if the other you said he's safe, then I believe him."

''I don't.''

"He's not our Richard, B."

Silence followed this last statement from the reporter before the bat sighed and stood up.

"You're right." He went to the door.

"Where are you going?" Clark asked confused.

''For the cave, I need to make sure I can avoid it if something like that happens. I need to do this, for my own sanity." He leaves the room, leaving the alien behind.

Superman sighs, trying to get the tension out of his shoulders and leaves the room with a promise in mind. Two actually.

1- He would listen whenever a Robin called him, no matter where or what time.

2- He would redeem himself with Superboy. He needed to do this before something happened to the boy.

A/N: Yeah, it seems like unintentionally, Carrie managed to fix Superman's mentality about his clone. I'm sorry for the tension of the chapter, but I needed to put that into the story.

Yes I know Jason died because his birth mother sold him to the Joker, but Jason just ended up alone looking for her (before Bruce found him and helped him) because he was forbidden to go out as Robin after what happened on the quest previous, at least that in my understanding. No, I'm not blaming Bruce for this, I blame Sheila and the Joker for what happened.

Which Robin do you think will be next to appear? Comment.
