CHAPTER 6.

''Hi Uncle C.'' BJ smiled.

Clark looks surprised as much as the others and mostly wondering -what is he wearing?-

"Hi. I think you're an intruder in the cave.''

''Not really my idea for a late night, but yeah, I guess that's me.''

"Are the zetas working? I didn't hear you come in.'' Robin asked.

''They don't announce right after the alarm goes off, it takes a while to announce arrival again.'' Superman replied to the nephew he knew before returning to the new one.

''I'm Superman, but I think you already know that.''

''I am your son's best friend, so I guess so. You can call me BJ.''

''Son?'' Clark and Conner ask.

''And I think I gave a spoiler. Just let it go. It's nothing, I didn't say anything.'' He makes a zipping motion in his mouth.

''Okay.'' He agrees slowly. ''Batman will be here any minute with Zatara, I think the team has briefed you on everything.''

''Somewhat.'' He agrees. ''And I think now it's time for the interrogation too.''

''Think of it as an interview. If the spell doesn't return you to your home, we'll need information to help you get back.''

The new Robin shrugs his shoulders. ''Fair enough. But you know, doing a questionnaire is much more practical, and just hand it out to each new Robin who arrives. Basic questions, we don't want to destabilize the multiverse.'' He points worriedly at the last part.

''Your suggestion is very good.'' Superman nods, really thinking about it, maybe Batman...

''And it will be carried out right before the next Robin arrives.'' The dark knight's voice makes them jump.

Wally groans at that. Don't bats get tired of scaring everyone?

"Hi fa-Batman.'' The boy smiles, a little nervously.

Bruce raises an eyebrow under his hood, but says nothing. He stares at the boy, something about him was strange. Besides his clothes. Was this his uniform? What was he thinking letting this boy go out like that?

"Come with us.'' With a flick of his cape, the bat turns and heads down the hall.

BJ follows him closely. Dick couldn't help but wonder if he too looked like a duckling walking behind Bruce, and seeing that Carrie and now BJ did the same, he thought so.

''Hello, you must be the new Robin.'' Zatara sat down as he introduced himself. They used the same room they used yesterday with Carrie.

''You can call me BJ. And you are?''

Clark looks startled at Bruce. It can't be, can it?

''Zatara, the resident magician of the Justice League.''

''Sorry, I don't know you. We have a Zatanna in my world, but no Zatara.'' The boy leaned back in his chair.

This caught him off guard. ''Zatanna is... my daughter.

''Really?'' The boy asked, surprised. "But she's his age.'' He points at the bat. ''How can you be her father? Is this world so different? ''

''We're getting off track.'' Batman grumbled. Having stayed up all night with the plans reduced his already non-existent mood.

''Always to business, isn't it dad?'' He asked relaxed, only to exactly two seconds later put his hand to his mouth as he realized what he spoke.

Justice stopped working, restarting.

''Dad?'' Superman was the first to come out of shock. A smile that would embarrass the Joker directed at the bat. He knew it!

''And I said too much again.'' BJ put his face in his hands. ''Dick is right, I need to control my mouth.

"Let's go to the questions.'' Bruce takes a deep breath. He has many more questions, but he knows he can't just ask the boy to answer them. The multiverse was something unknown yet, so he wouldn't risk it.

''Yeah, right.'' BJ agreed immediately, wanting more than ever to have the ability of his parents and brother to disappear into the shadows.

''We'll ask you a few questions, but if you feel uncomfortable with any of them or know you can't answer, ask to skip.'' The bat explained, openly ignoring the grin of Superman at his side. -Clark idiot.-

Superman couldn't keep the smile off his face. His friend had never expressed any desire for a fixed romantic relationship. A biological son coming from that relationship proved that the bat would, at least somewhere, settle down. Who was the boy's mother? Maybe the cat woman? No, he was listening to their conversation before entering the cave, he had mentioned a Batwoman. He wonder if she would exist in this world too.

While Super was trying to find out who the boy's mother was, Batman started the questions.

''What is your name and age?''

''Bruce Junior. Age 14.''

"Have you ever dealt with the multiverse before?''

''Yes. On a mission with my team, although it was quick.''

''Do you know which Earth you came from?''

''82.''

''What were you doing before you crash-landed on our world?''

"In the mansion room. Me and Bat... Nightwing and I had just come back from patrol.''

Everyone realized this flaw, but it wasn't time for that yet.

''What were you doing in uniform at home?'' Bruce asked before he realized it.

Zatara was reading as the questions were asked and smiled at the bat's concern. It was cool to see this new side of the dark knight.

''It was a difficult patrol.'' The boy grimaced. "Mom will choke us when she finds out.

"You mentioned her earlier. Her name is Batwoman, isn't it?'' Superman asked and shuddered at the look the bat gave him.

''Did you hear that? Oh yeah, Kryptonian. Yes, her codename is Batwoman. She's a vigilante a few years younger than Wing.''

Well, the boy gave him personal information without giving him any really important information. Bruce understood and congratulated his other self and his wife for this care.

''And Nightwing would be Richard.''

''Yes. He passed the mantle of Robin to me four years ago.''

''Hm.'' He nods, looking intensely at the boy, who lowers his gaze and gives the answer he expects.

''And he's also been the Batman of my world for two years.''

''Dick is Batman?'' Zatara can't help but ask, I mean, everyone knew that he would one day assume the mantle, but that was just guesswork. Knowing that he is already the Bat somewhere made them both proud and apprehensive.

''What year are you from?'' Superman asks this time, directing the subject to the original line. ''Carrie came from 1977 and it's 2011.''

''Wait what?'' The boy looks shocked. ''No way, it can't be 2011.''

''2011.'' Batman agreed.

''What year are you from?'' Zatara asked curiously.

''1954.'' He replied sinking into his chair, seemingly lost in his own thoughts.

The three adults looked at each other. That year was the year when the justice society was active, could it be...

''BJ... what's the name of our team?'' Superman pointed to himself and the other two in the room.

"Justice Society. He replies still startled. Dick was going to lecture him again for his inattention, how can he miss the fact that everything around him is futuristic, for God's, he wasn't even in the palace of justice!

''We call ourselves the League here. Justice League. The society did exist in 1954, but the only one of us who was part of it was Wonder Woman.'' Batman explained.

''We know it's a lot of information in a short time, but we need it to help you in case the spell doesn't return you to your original worlds.'' Superman held out his hand.

''A lot of information?'' BJ laughs ungraciously, ''That's... that's crazy. I mean, yes, I've dealt with the multiverse, but the difference was two years from my world, not fifty.'' He shook his head, ''My parents will be worried. How long will I be here?''

''According to my readings, until the last Robin arrives, unfortunately we don't know how long it will take for that to happen. I also managed to know that all of you, when you come back, will be in the same place you left, at the exact moment, so for everyone else, you never disappeared.''

Without anyone noticing, Batman picked up a cell phone and sent a message to Flash.

''But will I remember this?'' BJ raises his hands to his surroundings.

''Yes. You probably will.''

''Well... I guess that's all you wanted to ask?'' It was supposed to be an exclamation, but it came out more like a question.

''Yes.'' Batman stands up. ''Until all this is over you'll need to stay in the cave with the team.''

The boy nodded and left the room without question. It was a straight line from the way he came to the room, so he came back easily.

''What now? We have two Robins here.'' Superman asks.

''Zatara, write a report on the magic reading and send it to me. I'm putting together a file for them.'' Batman ignores the question. ''Any idea how many more are coming?''

''Unfortunately not.''

Batman nods and the three heroes leave the room.
