CHAPTER 11

''Robin to Batman, do you copy Batman?'' Jason ran down the hallways, hoping that the little smoke ball would slow them down long enough. Who were these people and how did the girl know his name?

''Damn.'' He frowned as static reached his hearing and he tried again. ''Nightwing, Oracle, Agent A, anyone? This is Robin, I've been compromised, code bird out of range.''

Unbeknownst to him, two of the three other Robins faltered in their run, their communicators on the same frequency as his. Bird out of range meant: I was in a place far from Gotham and woke up in an unidentified one.

"Damn it!'' Carrie cursed as she ran.

Carrie's reaction said enough for Dick and BJ, they sped up the run.

Jason turned into one of the hallways only to be a dead end, as well as no entry into the ventilation duct that ran through the hallway.

''No, no, no, no.'' He slid to a stop.

''Wait!'' The girl's voice came from the entrance to the hallway as he turned around.

''Who are you? What do you want?'' Jason growled, his body tensing up as he prepared for a fight.

''Please, we are not your enemies!'' The blond boy exclaimed, his body relaxed, but Jason wasn't going to let his guard down anytime soon.

''Really? Because being captured and chased tells me otherwise. Jason spoke sarcastically.

"We didn't capture you. We were both brought here also because of a technology that connects a person with other versions of themselves, or things for that matter.'' Carrie tries to explain.

Dick steps forward. ''I saved a friend from being hit by the multiverse weapon and ended up being hit, or rather the Robin symbol was hit, now several Robins are being brought to my world.'' He takes off his glasses, hoping, praying, that the older teenager would recognize him.

The tension fades from the boy after a while, visibly recognizing the face in front of him. ''Holy shit. Golden boy, when you fuck something up it's for real isn't it?''

''So you really are Jason?'' Carrie asks.

''Yeah, that...is crazy, although the Flashes have warned about that before. Besides explaining why no one answers me on the comm, I was about to call the Titans.''

''Unfortunately there are no Titans here in this world, only a strangely nameless team.'' BJ squared his shoulders, getting a slap on the arm delivered by Dick. ''HEY!''

Jason smiled. ''I guess some things don't change.''

''No, they don't.'' BJ complains as he rubs his arm.

Turning his attention to the two, now discovered other Robins, Jason asks. ''And your names are?''

''Carrie.'' Carrie answers before BJ even opens his mouth, ''And he's BJ.''

''She's fast, huh?'' Jason asks with a smile to the other boy.

''She's a fan of yours.'' He answers, dodging a slap from Carrie. ''But you are! I've only known you a few hours, but I can tell!

"I'm not! I just wanted to meet him!'' She turns to Jason, ''I am your successor in my world, the third Robin. The idiot here is the second Robin in his world.'' She pointed at BJ.

''Oh, cool.'' Was the reply.

''I think we'd better get back, the team is worried.'' Dick interrupts putting his dark glasses back on his face.

Jason raises an eyebrow. ''They don't know who you are, do they?

''No.''

''Damn it Bruce.''

The three are startled by the sudden swearing.

''You don't hold with words do you?'' BJ asks carefully. If their parents saw them saying something like that they would wash his mouth out with soap. Literally.

''I came from crime alley, old habits die hard.'' Jason explained with ease. ''Now let's find the others.'' He walks past them before stopping. ''Before...where are we? And who are they? That's not the titan tower...''

''We're at the Mount of Justice. They are my team, come, I'll tell you on the way.'' Dick walks past him, leading the group back to the room.

Another Robin arrived, that was obvious, the cave alert went off again. Batman and Canary were the first to enter the cave, followed by Superman and to everyone's surprise, Wonder Woman. Zatara would not be able to come for at least six days because he had gone to solve another problem for the League. Wonder Woman came to see the possible nephews from other worlds.

''Who was it this time? Superman asked.

''I don't know, I haven't seen them yet.'' Batman replied, walking in front of the group.

''Maybe they...'' Diana stopped as Bruce and Clark stopped, Bruce brought his hand to his ear as Clark looked to a specific side of the cave, probably using x-ray vision.

Canary changes the radio station to hear what the two are listening to and Diana sighs resignedly and waits for the three's response.

''... Nightwing, Oracle, Agent A, anyone? This is Robin, I've been compromised, code bird out of range.'' Dinah can hear the last part, the voice was male, probably in his mid teens.

''Bird out of range?'' Superman asked.

''It was outside Gotham and woke up in an unidentified place.'' Was the bat's reply. ''Superman.''

''The three of them got to him, they're talking.''

''Good.''

''I think we better see the team, they'll probably go there after the talk.'' Diana suggested and the other three nodded, heading to the room in the common area of the mountain, a question on the minds of the three, who was it now?

''This is Jason.'' Robin introduced him to the team and the four older heroes.

''I really have no idea what world I come from, so I hope this damn thing takes me to my world after this is over.'' The boy replied.

''Language.'' Superman and Canary spoke.

The boy just squared his shoulders. BJ still stared in horror behind him.

He... is different than the adults imagined, tougher. His training was good, Bruce realized, but it was obvious that his temper was unstable.

Probably an anger problem, Canary realized, some childhood trauma...she would have to talk to him to be sure.

''It's a pleasure to meet you Jason.'' Wonder Woman approached and held out her hand.

''And that's why you're my favorite.'' Jason smiled, shaking her hand.

''You know me then?'' She smiled and looked at the bat and Super. Finally a Robin for her, now she knew how Clark felt when Dick stayed with him.

''Sure, your version of my world only didn't get me off the bat yet because the golden boy wouldn't let it.'' He points at Robin, who shakes his head.

That was unfair, he was the first Robin and the youngest until now.

Diana laughs, ''I can see why. And where were you before you were brought here?''

Bruce held back from making a face. This is not how he wanted to ask Jason this specifically.

Maybe it would be better to ask this and the rest in a more private place. Thank God for Dinah.

''No, it's okay, I was in Ethiopia with Batman, we were on... a mission.''

Carrie stiffened. Not only was this very noticeable, but both Clark and Conner could hear her heart racing after that.

That was not good, not with the information they knew.

''What is it?'' Jason asked, also realizing.

The team was also confused and looked at their own Robin, but to their surprise, it was Conner who answered in their minds. -I'll explain later.-

''Shall we?'' Dinah held out her hand towards the door.

''I think I'd better go along.'' Dick settled beside Jason as they and the adults made their way down the hall.

"I'm coming too! Carrie exclaimed, following them.

Everyone left in the room looked at Conner.

"Anything to declare? Wally asked.

''He's kind of the Robin the league was hoping to meet.''

''What?'' BJ asks.

''If you sit down, from what I can hear and from what Superman has told me, the story is not good.''
