CHAPTER 12.

Almost.

Jason leaned back in the chair he was sitting in, the adults were in varying degrees of concern and shock. Damn, he was in shock himself.

Dick and Carrie looked at each other worriedly as well.

He was pulled out of his time literally seconds after separating from his Batman, from going after the Joker.

The same Joker that would have killed him if this didn't happen.

''Are you okay?'' Carrie ventured to ask. She was the one who dropped the bomb on him.

He snorted. "Would you be okay knowing about this? I mean...I don't know? I...fuck, what the fuck is this!'' He shook his head.

The mood was so heavy that Clark didn't say anything about the swearing.

This Jason was in Ethiopia before he was brought there. But the story didn't match the one told by Carrie. Her Jason went after her birth mother, this Jason went after the Joker after the villain fled Gotham. He went after the villain for shooting Batgirl from that world, who now goes by the name Oraculo.

Another partner for Bruce to think about.

"Jason, we are here to help you, for some reason coming here saved your life, if you need anything, you can talk to us.'' Bruce, not Batman, Bruce spoke. The soft voice that was reserved for tumultuous and difficult nights or nightmares.

Jason nodded. ''But what's to stop this from happening when I get back?''

''Zatara has made it clear that you will remember everything that happens in our world and will return to the exact moment you left, you can still change things when you return, run from the place you were. If necessary I will go with you and ensure that you are returned safely to your Batman.'' Diana exclaimed, looking at the other mentoring heroes. ''We just need to know the land he comes from.''

''Zatara can get that, he's already seeing this about Carrie.'' Robin points to the girl.

''I think he better define Jason's earth first.'' Carrie replies.

''That took a back seat because of the league mission.'' Canary shook her head.

''And how long until I get back home?'' Jason asked.

''We don't know. What we do know is that it's after all the Robins that the spell made contact with arrive.''

''That could take weeks!''

''Yes I know, which is why you will stay on the mountain and if there is a shortage of space, you will move to the mansion.'' Bruce replied. There was no need to pretend, what happened to Carrie's Jason and what almost happened to this Jason worried him, scared the hell out of him.

''What you said boss.'' Jason nodded, and then shook his head. ''Well, as the idiot Nightwing would say, let's get this show on the road, and now that I know I'm going to avoid this when I get back to my world, I think I'd better at least adapt to this new world for now.''

''Language.'' Canary spoke calmly.

''Sorry.''

''Why are you sorry to her?'' Robin asks curiously.

"You seem so nice, why did you become so boring? Jason retorts before smiling. ''I'm kidding. Canary helps out in Gotham sometimes along with Batg... Oracle, she's basically an aunt.''

''I help out in Gotham?'' Canary looked at him in surprise.

''And Bruce lets you?'' Superman then asked.

''Uh, yes and Bruce didn't really have a choice in that, but to try to get control again he does.''

Diana shook her head with a smile, still shaken, but for her little birds she would let the matter sink in.

''At least you're not from the past.'' Carrie smiled.

''Now we're tied, two from the present and two from the past.'' Robin squared her shoulders and held out her closed hand to Jason, who punched her.

''That's not fair, BJ isn't even here to join us against you.'' Carrie crossed her arms and flashed her tongue.

The four league members looked at each other relieved, a great loss was prevented, well it would be prevented, and if it was up to them Jason would be safe. Bruce would keep him safe.

No, Bruce would keep them all safe.

''Ah, guys, I didn't want to say anything, but why is DickBird glowing?'' Jason points out, bringing Batman out of his thoughts and making him look at his partner.

''But now?'' Carrie exclaimed startled.

''It's been less than half an hour since Jason arrived, how come you're already glowing?'' Canary asked.

"I don't know, I don't control it! Robin closed his eyes.
