Loud beeping interrupted Ruka's comfortable nap. It penetrated the darkness of her sleep and dragged her unwilling back into the waking world. Normally it was Rua who stubbornly clung to sleep, on a school day. Yet having summoned Ancient Fairy twice into the world had exhausted young Ruka to the point that she couldn't motivate herself to get out of bed...

Only her bed wasn't hard like this, and the noise... the noise itself was enough to cause her to sluggishly open her eyes. Above her head was Rua, his head turning left and right then back again as though scanning the world for something. Yet for all his scanning he missed the Duel Spirit right in his face waving at him.

A child sized robot was hovering there, its bright orange armor and silver 'skin', recognizable by Ruka as Yuseis' 'Junk Synchron'. Its' stocky body type and size always gave it a more child like appeal to Ruka as she began rubbing her eyes. Yet even as she saw Junk Synchron she realized that they weren't home. The noise that had woken her up was the intercom system of the Neo Domino General Hospital.

"Oh! Did the noise wake you?" Rua asked as her stirring finally got the notice of her twin. The boy, joined unknowingly by the Duel Spirit, looked down at her in concern as she pushed herself into a sitting position. They were sitting in a hospital hallway, down the hall there were mobile computer stations. Beyond that the hall was mostly empty and it left Ruka confused as to why the pair were here.

"Where is everyone?" She asked as rubbed her eyes when her stomach rolled and the world spun briefly once her hands left her face. Forcing Ruka to force her vision on the, too, small couch they were sitting on.

"Inside, Big Sisters' parents came and everyone went into the room with Big Brother Yusei to talk to the doctors. Since you were asleep, Big Brother Jack carried the seat out here for us." Rua explained, his feet starting to kick against the front of their seat. "You ok? Summoning Ancient Fairy twice I mean..."

Ruka leaned over and rested herself with her head resting near her knees, the world was still spinning but when she closed her eyes. Everything felt a little more settled. Rua placed a supportive hand on her back rubbing soothing circles... "I feel exhausted, that was... intense. I just want to sleep."

"Before rest mode. Please assist..."

Ruka groaned as she heard Junk Synchrons' voice. Resentment that she couldn't catch a break percolated in her before she reminded herself.

This was the duty of a Signer Dragon.

"Sis?" Rua asked worriedly as he leaned down closer to his sister.

The door opened behind Crow as a virtual council took place before him. The doctors had cleared Yusei to go home. Yet to have Aki, who had been presumed dead, brought to the hospital had delayed any attempt at leaving. So here the group was, Yusei, Jack, and himself, with Aki, both her parents, Carly and the doctors going over Aki. Freed from the darkness of the yard, everyone looked positively like hell. Covered in dirt and dust, it was hard to believe Jack had started out in his traditional white riding suit.

Regardless of their state, Aki's parents were fussing over her with tears and relief, stirring that wistful feeling that came from being an orphan.. Behind him, he felt the soft shiver of an artificial breeze as Rua slip into the room. The boy wasn't pickpocket material as he made his way to Yusei, his little ponytail swaying as he moved with purpose.

"Big Brother?" Rua called out as he made his way to Yusei's side, the older teen already giving the child his attention.

So Yusei saw the anxiousness in Rua's eyes and the way the boy kept looking at the tired white coats of the doctors who stood in the room. A frown crossed Yusei's face, knowing that Rua had opted to stay with his sleeping sister, so for the boy to be here... Thus Yusei ignored the pain of movement to lean down so he was closer to the child. "Little Rua? Is something wrong?"

"Umm how are you feeling?" Rua began, earning a confused expression from Carly and Jack as the pair looked down at him.

"Sore, but I've had worse," Yusei answered with a shrug yet despite the answer he tried to figure out where Rua was going with this.

"Umm... I mean your neck..." Rua answered before putting his own hand on the back of his neck. Yet there was this question in Rua's eyes that he clearly wanted to ask, only the presence of the doctors was silencing him.

"Would it be easier if we stepped outside the room to talk?" Yusei asked, as he tried to feel any type of pain on his neck that would stand out. Only he came up short as the rest of his body just was demanding too much attention.

Rua gave a relieved expression before nodding so Yusei pushed himself to his feet slowly. Feeling as every bruise and scrape ignited into pain and the world swam momentarily before his eyes. Rua's small hand slipped into his gloved one and he let the boy lead him outside the room, while Jack and Crow stayed close to Aki and her family.

Aki... She was living duality at that moment, almost pristine with only with a bit of dust on her clothes. Yet Akis' eyes were red and puffy, she sat in her mothers' arms with her face in the older womans' shoulders. While everyone else involved in the mess looked like they rolled around in the dirt before arriving. Well save Carly and Rua for the most part.

"I'll be right back, just going to talk to Rua outside for a moment," Yusei forced himself to say letting Aki know where he was. He watched her eyes snap open with an anxiety that killed a part of him. But what could he do against Divines' followers at that moment?

"It'll be ok, bro, we've got both your backs," Crow answered calmly as he moved out of the way so Rua could lead Yusei out of the room.

Pale walls with white doors that opened into sharp clear light, with the small couch that Jack had carried out for the twins resting pressed against the wall. Ruka was still there, and given the whole evening, seeing her still there was a reassurance for Yusei. She was curled up on her side and sleeping, which was odd for her. Rua had no abilities currently, so there was no reason for him to give a cryptic message. It had to be Ruka...

'I guess she fell back to sleep?' Yusei thought as he shut the door and painfully knelt down closer to Rua. "What's the matter?"

Rua looked over at his twin with a small worried frown on his face, but he looked back up at Yusei when his name was spoken. "She said that Junk Synchron was here..."

"Big Brother..." Ruka began to cry, her eyes filling with exhaustion and tears, so suddenly and out of place that Rua hopped out of his own seat in alarm. "What's wrong? Sis what's wrong? Don't cry!"

"Junk Synchron is here... He's saying that they put something in Big Brothers' neck... when they captured him..." Ruka answered as Rua pulled her into a protective hug. "I need to go in there, but I'm so tired, everything is spinning..."

"I'll do it, I'll tell Big Brother so you just rest! I can do it!" Rua answered automatically his voice filled with desperate confidence in an effort to sooth his sisters' distress. She had summoned too much back to back and while she wasn't complaining about her heart... She shook in his arms as though he was holding jello, and it was enough to make tears well up in his own eyes.

She sat there crying, but the sobs became more quiet and he realized she was falling back to sleep. 'I hope she was just dreaming that...'

"Promise? Get them to check Big Brother again... Junks' really worried..."

"But its not like I can say it in front of Big Sister, you see how she is. She got super upset when she realized she hurt you..." Rua finished anxiously. His eyes were glistening with tears that normally he would be shedding. Yet he was struggling to sustain a strong appearance.

Yusei nodded, "stay here with your sister I'll see what I can do." He tugged off his leather riding glove and ran his hand behind his neck. Wondering if he would even be able to feel such a small numbing pain from such contact after everything. But it was the weight of that pain that pushed him forward, as his mind began processing the information the way he would have processed a duel.

Poisoning Yusei, if Aki failed to kill him with her power, could have been a possible back up plan. Dying later from a poison.. Would he get an autopsy? How would Aki react even? He saw her grieving, her pleas for him to forgive her. Knowing how she reacted when she no longer wore that head set it would make sense. But poisons weren't something Yusei knew or understood, he could only reason that they were supposed to be fast.

He pushed himself forward to check on Ruka, just for Rua's sake as the boy climbed back into his seat. 'It would explain why I'm having trouble getting myself back together...' he thought as he took in Ruka's still pale skin. But he was confident the sickness in his stomach was from his outrage that little Ruka was put into this position to start with.

Yusei gave her small clenched fist and gentle squeeze before he got moving again. 'I can't have Aki in there when I ask the doctors. But if I wait until her family leaves whatever visual mark that might still be on me might be gone...'

Yusei cast his glance down the hallway and saw the nurses' station down at the end, staffed. He turned his steps down that way, trying to keep his steps straight without depending on the wall for balance. A startled revelation borne of a comment in a previous conversation got him standing straighter. 'Yugi said I could die in the next five days... And yeah he said he wouldn't tell the future, so does he leave open possible suggestions.'

Yugis' words took over most of the noise in Yusei's head as he realized the coded message handed to him. He was still in play against Divine, he had time to turn this around but the deadline was approaching fast. He needed to get confirmation if he had been poisoned, get the guys together and somehow make a plan to find Divine or whoever had the antidote. Because Yusei couldn't believe that Divine would use an easy over the counter poison for this.

The thought brought a sudden chuckle out of Yusei, as a stray thought played against his sense of humor. 'Yugi made me his 'heir'? I'm not even close to his level if he can play the field 'this' good.' Sure Yugi could see the results of choices, but to know each and everyone of them?

"Excuse me?" A nurse, walking past the hallway caught sight of him and turned her steps down the hall he was in. Her arms were empty, as she met him down the way though that he caught her attention warranted a 'how bad 'did' Yusei look' distracted thought. "Are you ok?"

"I need something checked, I'd ask the doctor in my room, but I have friends in there and I don't want them alarmed." Was Yusei's answer as he tried his hardest not to sound as pained as he felt. He felt bruised to the bone, so it would be so easy for him to unknowingly be walking around with a needle mark on his neck. Who would even check?

"I see, well... what is it that you need checked?" the nurse asked, for which Yusei answered by bowing his head.

"I need to see if there's any sign of inflammation on my neck," Yusei replied, for which the nurse was grateful for the young man's unique style of hair.

Her brown eyes scanned the area of his skin before walking around him. The neck was dusty, but the young man clearly needed a bath regardless. Yet there was what could be considered a bug bite... "I... Believe so yes, it looks like a bug bite."

Yusei closed his eyes and sighed softly as she confirmed Ruka's message.

"Thank you, can you get my doctor out here? I need to speak with him before the mark disappears completely." She blinked at the overly cautious request for a moment, but that she wasn't moving forced him to give a little more information. "I have friends who I don't want to alarm or upset, so I need to talk to the doctor who is overseeing me privately."

"Oh, ok," she replied and once they were done with a quick exchange of information, Yusei made his way back down to the room he had been in. Since it was 'technically' Aki's room, Yusei had been in a general ER private station. If not for Aki's fathers' presence and demand that Yusei be brought to them he'd probably still been there.

Ahead of him he could see the doctor step outside and look about, probably in confusion. Rua sat there watching Yusei with wide, haunted eyes. Reminding Yusei of his responsibilities to the pair, as they were children. But also as fellow Dragons who were far too young to be in this type of situation to start with.

The older man walked towards him, which was just as well for Yusei as it meant they were a little further from the twins. 'Not that it stops the Spirits from ease dropping on us.' Yusei thought ruefully...

"So he caused all this? How? I would have thought he was in jail?" Senator Izayoi asked as he kept his arms around his wife and daughter. Speaking over the sound of the door shutting with Yusei leaving with Rua. Needing to feel her physical presence after all these pain filled months of questioning, loss, and sudden discovery. It was literally a repeat of a large portion of their lives. Only this time with the parental horror of being told their daughter was dead.

Which left him with a white hot fury as he heard his daughter recount how she ended up returning to Japan. Or rather her 'lack' of recounting, while Yusei and the boys he was friends with looked like they walked through hell. Hell for his baby girl.

"Who knows? Aki recognizes 'Isao' as a classmate, but Carly never interviewed a guy by that name, and the twins never heard of him either." Crow began, while Jack slowly nodded.

"They know about Aki, they clearly were targeting her and Yusei. So there's no reason not to think that this Isao person was an agent sent to spy. But not just on Aki, more than likely the whole school," Jack noted.

"Yeah, the number of friends Aki remembers matches the ones I interviewed. Its just that 'Isao' person that I don't know, I met a 'Fujiwara, Yusuke', no Isao." Carly explained, her voice the mixture of excitement and nerves as she addressed the Senator. "But if they weren't there 'just' for Aki, it means they probably have been keeping tabs on all the kids there."

"I wonder what Divines' going to do now? He doesn't have Sis anymore, and Yusei is still alive. From what everyone described to me, he was after the two of them specifically," Crow commented as he leaned against the wall. Glancing off towards the door with a small frown, 'What's taking Yusei so long? Do the twins need help?'

"He won't give up," Aki answered, her voice muffled by her mothers' shoulder at first before she pulled her head back. "Divine is a man of determination and doesn't let things get in his way. He'd just as soon remove all obstacles by any subtle means necessary."

"So this isn't over?" Mrs. Izayoi asked in anguish as she looked at her husband. After all she couldn't exactly look at the teenagers. They were 'kids'! Aki's peers! They shouldn't have been put in this situation!

"We need to find Divine, confirm he's in prison or wherever he actually is. Finding that bastard 'Isao' will be a good start if Divine's not in there," Jack grumbled. 'Where the hell is Yusei? Did something happen to Ruka? If Divine's stunt hurt the twins...'

"I'll have it looked into," Senator Izayoi answered quietly. "I don't know how much I can do given the type of power being used here. I mean, I'm no Psychic, but... what I can offer."
