CHAPTER 25.
A/N: Kara and Helena may have been ooc here, sorry, but I only managed to find their stories to read today and this chapter was already written when I found it, so I won't change the story. Yes, I know Dick wasn't adopted by Bruce in her world, they didn't even meet, but here he was, just like Jason, Tim, Cass and Duke. In short, take everything you know about Earth 2 and throw it out the window.
Kara woke up with a start, something was wrong. Listening around the mountain, she discovered why she had woken up. She couldn't sleep near unfamiliar heartbeats and always woke up when she accidentally heard a new one.
This became even more frequent after she joined the bats after the death of Clark and Lois.
The problem wasn't the new heartbeats, it was the number of them. There were many at the same time and coming in fast.
Looking at the alarm in the upper corner of the room, she was surprised it was silent, shouldn't that ring in case of break-ins? It was probably disabled.
:::Okay, you're starting to sound like Helena.::: She shook her head, it was probably the Robins... but it didn't hurt to check. As her x-ray vision still didn't come back, so she listened. It wasn't the Robins, they were in the bedrooms. And it wasn't the league, for it knew the beat of virtually every hero.
They were invading the cave.
She took off the blanket and sat up straight on the couch.
Okay, what did she know?
Stupid question, she didn't know anything about this world. Okay what didn't she know? That was easier to answer.
She didn't know if the rest of the mountain heroes knew about the possible invasion, didn't know the mountain floor plan, didn't know how to contact the league.
She took out the Titan communicator only to pocket it right after with a grunt. Not only were there no Teen Titans here, but the communicator was also broken.
Only her super hearing had returned and very little strength from her.
Okay don't panic...
''What's wrong?'' She jumped as a faint voice rang through the room and the light came on. Looking at the bed, she saw Helena visibly struggling with the sedatives. ''Kara what happened?''
''Nothing?'' Great, it sounded more like a question than an answer.
''Kara Zor-El.''
The Kryptonian looked around, hearing her hear the mountain at large.
''I think... we're being invaded by someone. Well a lot of somebody...''
This seemed to wake up the younger girl, who sat up in bed for good, despite her bruises. ''Location.'' And wonderful, she went into Robin mode fully. Even being doped with medicine. Tim Drake, you idiot why did you teach her that? Kara thought.
''From the echo I hear, near the entrances.''
''Is X-ray vision back?''
Testing again she shook her head. ''Not yet.''
Helena looked around her, stopping her gaze on the wires that connected her to the bed.
''How long until the league gets here if I pull these wires?''
''This is a bad idea, not only would it reveal our location to enemies, but it would also attract those already inside the mountain. We will be handing them all over here on a silver platter to the enemies."
''It's the best plan we have so far, considering your desperation, we have no way of calling anyone for help. How many invaders?''
''Something between 45 and 50.''
''That's a lot of people. Excludes normal villains." Helena whispers the last part to herself.
''Exactly what I thought.'' Kara looked at the door, even though she knew she didn't have anyone around... yet. ''Do you think it could be Luthor's people? The hive maybe? Sladebots?''
''I don't see why Luthor would risk that, he wouldn't do that in our world and I hope it's the same here. The Titans don't exist and I don't think this team had any contact with any member that would justify the attack, not with the league controlling the missions.'' Helena's curiosity earlier was literally saving their ass now. She had asked about this team to find out more and Red Tornado replied that the team belonged to the league and Batman himself controlled the missions.
''What about Slade?''
''He only trusted robots, you heard heartbeats.'' She shook her head, that left only one group with enough staff and enough power to storm a mountain that was the league's base. Again, her curiosity was saving her.
''Ra's.'' Both spoke together.
''We need the League.'' Kara looked at the wires differently. ''Do you think we should risk it?''
''Let me try something, maybe I can turn the noise off for us...'' She tossed around in bed to the control panel as Kara followed the silent footsteps of the invaders.
''Damn... I can't!'' She sat back down. ''Quick, give me the notebook you were using before! If Tim is here then he can see my signal... or maybe I can send an alert to the cave...'' She starts hacking as soon as she picks up the machine.
''So ripping it off isn't an option?''
''Not now, I won't risk it...''
''They're spreading, Helena. I think they might be looking for something."
''Or someone else. If it really is Ra's…do you think Damian is here?"'
''How would they know?''
''If there's one thing Dami taught me, it's never doubt the league, they have sources in all sorts of places.''
Kara shakes her head, wishing her powers would return soon. She'd never faced the League of Shadows and at least wanted her powers with her in this one.
''Signal sent. Now is just wait. And pray that Tim or Dad is awake."
