Chapter Forty-Eight

Kagome sighed in relief as she saw Shuu put Parker down gently on the bed, she quickly made her way to a blood replenisher remedy and quickly gave it to Parker with a small glare on her face.

She didn't like that he was injured but knew it wasn't his fault. Bai had stepped out one too many times. If she had it her way, they would go back to the other village or make Bai do that, but she didn't have the power to make that happen.

"Take this please." She let her glare soften as Parker did what he was told by his mate. She gave a small smile at his face twisted into disgust at the potion before handing her the empty bottle back.

"Shuu..." Kagome glanced to the wolf who was at the door, having backed up to give the two some room.

"What I say or do I don't want to spread around alright..." Kagome was going to heal the more serious injuries but leave the small cuts and scrapes. Seeing Shuu nod, Kagome sighed and sat down next to Parker.

"Hold still will you.." She gave him a small smirk, leaning down to give him a small kiss on the lips. She pulled back and put her hands over Parker's body her hands taking on a pink glow as she concentrated on the small bone fractures that his ribs have gotten from being in the ferals hold.

She could hear the intake of breath from Shuu when she was healing Parker. She didn't look at him though, she was making sure she didn't heal Parker too much. She knew others would know Parker got into a fight with the feral and he needed to show some wounds so it adds up.

"You can heal.." This was said breathlessly as Shuu looked at her with astonished eyes. He had heard people who could heal with high spiritual powers, but so far the only one with enough powers was the Ape King and he didn't specialize in healing.

Kagome gave a strained smile, "I can. I don't want this so be spread around. I have more secrets but I don't want to tell them to anyone...and I know you will need to know these secrets for us to actually be in a relationship if it goes in that direction."

Shuu felt his heart skip a beat at her words, but didn't say anything.

"I will tell you, but not yet. I want to know you more before I tell you things that could put me in danger." Kagome didn't know how others would react to her being a human. The ones who did know were telling her to keep it a secret. She wouldn't bring Shuu into her life if he became her mate without him knowing about her past and what she was. It isn't like she could hide having a period every month when she wasn't pregnant anymore. They could smell it if they were living with one another...or around one another all the time. She had remedies to help hide it but she can't take them twenty-four seven.

Nodding Shuu merely watched as she pressed a kiss to a sleeping Parker's forehead before motioning for him to follow her into the large living room. Lowering herself to a pile of furs that functioned as a makeshift sitting area. He felt a bit awkward, not knowing if he should join her or just stay standing.

He was not going to leave them on their own, Parker was injured and she was with child. If the feral or anyone for that matter wanted to attack now would be the best time and he would not let that happen, even if she decided to not take him on as her mate he wouldn't let any harm come to her.

Groaning Kagome leaned back on a pillow, her back her and her legs and feet were sore. Cracking open an eye she observed Shuu, he seemed to be deep in thought as he lingered by the kitchen table. He looked conflicted like he couldn't make up his mind about something and she didn't have to be a physic to figure out why.

Patting the furs next to her she gave him a small smile. "Come sit down Shuu, I know you're tired from helping Parker not only during the fight but bringing him home." Normally, she wouldn't be so forward, she knew that his scent would be not only on the furs but herself which could be considered a slight against her mate but in this world, the alpha of a pack was the female.

Therefore if she was the one to invite him, then it should be okay. If not she would deal with it later when she was less tired, stressed, and worried. So as Shuu settled next to her she decided to say fuck it and leaned against his side, taking in his warmth and comfort. Seeing Parker in that damn snake's grasp, making that horrid noise...it had scared her.

Shuu flushed lighty as he wrapped an arm around Kagome's shoulders, feeling her tremble lightly as she let out a small tired sigh. He shifted her, her body not at all resisting his manipulation of it, once he was done she was laying with her head in his lap. The rest of her body resting on the furs. Letting out a small crooning noise he ran his fingers through her raven hair. His gaze on her face as she let out a small content sight and let her eyes slide shut.

His heart swelled with warmth to know that she trusted him enough to not only allow him around her injured mate but also let him be around her while she was so upset and pregnant. Other males would try to twist the situation to their advantage, using her fear to get closer. Just the thought of it made his blood boil.

"Shuu, will you stay the night? I'm worried the feral might try to finish what he started...if you don't want to that's fine as well..." She trailed off, her eyes not meeting his. She knew that what had happened was scary and she was afraid that he might change his mind about wanting to be with her. InuYasha had often said she was more trouble then she was worth...

Shuu merely smiled, his fingers running through her hair in and attempt to comfort her. "Of course I'll stay. Now rest, I'll keep watch." Kagome could only nod, her heart fluttering in her chest at his words.
