"Young master Dino you have a visitor!" One of the Cavallone housekeepers called up the stairs the afternoon of that fateful day.
"Coming!" Was his reply before he ended up tumbling down the stairs, landing on his back at the base of them with his legs curled over his head.
This was no pure accident of course, for you see Dino has been cursed with extreme clumsiness whenever there are no Cavallone members nearby. There is one non-Cavallone who is an exception however…
"It's good to see some things never change." Dino heard a familiar female's voice come from nearby.
He moved his legs and as soon as he saw his childhood friend's face he scrambled to his feet quickly. "R-Rosetta!" He stuttered while standing at attention. "You're here!"
"In the flesh." The girl named Rosetta replied simply with a smile. "It's been a while. How have you been doing lately?"
The young Cavallone relaxed a little before answering with, "G-Good." He blushed with surprise, noticing that his friend had changed significantly since the last time she'd visited.
If this had been the old Rosetta he'd already be in her grasp and fawned at by her, but that wasn't happening now. Apparently becoming a teenager had matured her and changed her for the better. She even looked better than the last time he saw her.
In the time that had passed, Rosetta grew until she was an inch shorter than himself (who was currently five feet tall). She let her previously short wavy reddish brown hair grow out so that little rivers of her hair rested just on her shoulders and had it parted on the right. Her soft grayish blue colored eyes gazed back at him with curiosity and the telltale star shaped birthmark that was proof of her pure Mezzanotte blood was still on the left side of the base of her neck. She was currently wearing a simple light blue summer tank dress that ended at her knees with half inch sandal heels to match.
"Hey Dino, are you okay?" Rosetta asked, waving at him and waking him from the daze he was in. "You seem kind of…spacey."
"Yeah, you should complement the girl instead of just staring at her. It's rude." A familiar child's voice announced from behind Dino. "I thought I taught you better, Pipsqueak Dino."
At the mention of Reborn's nickname for him the blonde froze with shock and blushed. Before he could turn and tell his tutor off for embarrassing him, Rosetta approached the small hitman.
"Aww! Dino is this one of your relatives? He's so cute!" She uttered with wonder at the toddler. She then paused for a moment, becoming perplexed. "Though now that I think about it, he looks awfully familiar…"
"Eh? You're saying that you've seen Reborn before?" The young Cavallone asked curiously.
"Wait, this is the top hitman Reborn?" The brunette asked with shock before turning her attention back to the toddler standing before her. "I have heard a lot of things about you Reborn, but I never thought you'd be so small and baby-like…" - she shrugged it off and offered her hand - "Anyway, it's nice to meet you."
"Ciaossu. It's a pleasure to finally meet you, Rosetta." The pint-sized tutor greeted with a smirk as he shook her hand. "I have heard many things of your great family name and what they have achieved."
"Oh, you flatter me!" She exclaimed with a chuckle. "We try our best though…"
"Where is your brother Nero?" When the small hitman asked, Dino jumped with shock at the mention of that name. "I was under the impression that he was supposed to be coming too."
The young Cavallone groaned inwardly and then asked, "Nero was going to come with you too?"
"Yes. Didn't you read the letter sent to you?" Rosetta asked, pausing to wait for her friend to respond, who averted his gaze and fumbled with his words. "Anyway, Nero decided not to come after all because our dad wanted him to focus on his training. I could've stayed home too, but I wanted to take a break and see you."
Dino blushed but was more curious. "A break…from training?"
"Well yes. I have been training to hone my special abilities…" His friend trailed off, blushing lightly when continuing. "But primarily I've been taking lessons on proper etiquette and the like to prepare me for marriage someday."
"M-Marriage?!" The young Cavallone exclaimed with utter shock as he blushed beet red.
"It's not uncommon." Reborn commented with a smirk. "Could it be…you're jealous of Rosettas potential future husband?"
"Wha-?!"
"Don't worry, Dino. No matter who I marry I'll still support you in your aims to become the Cavallone boss!" Rosetta stated with determination.
"I don't have aims to become the boss at all though!" Her friend rebutted.
"Too bad." The small hitman interjected while pointing his gun at his student. "I'm training you to be a mafia boss and that's what you'll become. No exceptions."
"You'll be a great boss! I know it!" The brunette added with lighthearted encouragement.
Dino could only stare at the both of them speechlessly in horror as he thought, 'They're not even giving me a choice in the matter!'
Reborn then turned to his friend. "By the way Rosetta, these 'special abilities' you mentioned have piqued my interest." He said casually. "Would you be able to demonstrate them for us?"
She jolted with shock and paused for a minute in thought. Finally she said, "I'm not at liberty to share my abilities with just anyone, but since it's you asking Reborn, I may be able to persuade my parents to make an exception. I'll go call them to see if I can."
With that she trotted off to the nearest phone to do so while the males watched her go.
"Now if my assumption is correct, Rosetta may need to fight to show her abilities more affectively." Reborn stated with thought.
"So you're gonna fight her Reborn?!" Dino exclaimed incredulously.
His tutor smirked in response. "No. You will be fighting her."
"What?! I can't fight Rosetta! I was told I shouldn't go looking for fights with girls!"
"This is an exception. Besides you're not looking for a fight so you're fine." The pint sized tutor then aimed his gun at his student and gave the order to go grab his whip.
Realizing that he was serious the young Cavallone gave in and went to retrieve his weapon tearfully.
