Electricity ran through the Mark on her arm, from the tips of the claws through out it and setting it aglow. Even racing further up to her shoulder and down her back! Just the voice alone was enough to send such a sensation through her body, causing her to turn and see the person who spoke. Duelists 'knew' Yugi's voice. Who hadn't watched one of the old school duels and heard him call out his moves? More over she knew that he had interacted with Yusei and been involving himself with the twins at KaibaCorp.
"Well I've talked to Honest, what he does from this point on is in his own hands," the voice sprang out of the corner of the room. Startling everyone, the Tenjoins shot up ramrod straight in surprise while everyone frantically looked in the direction of the voice.
Yugi looked around as he stood up, and was confronted by a virtual sea of disbelief before shrugging. "I'm going to assume you were trying to contact me the last time," he pointed out and watched as Yusei crossed his arms.
"You... you're here..."
Yet this was so very different.
Yusei described Yugi as looking no different than what they had seen on old videos and recordings. He failed to mention that Yugis' skin being a fair bit darker or how he towered over all of them! It felt ludicrous to watch him stand up and have to keep lifting up her gaze just to follow his face. Yugi had this halo about him as well, some type of color she couldn't decide on that blurred out the edges of his frame. Giving him this ethereal sensation, as though he was an illusion and not a person.
His gaze, that had checked on each person, returned to her and he smiled something simple and amused before shrugging. "Yours is a sight shared by deeply spiritual people, even if you don't think so yourself. So what you're seeing is the lands of my original birth on this world that paints my skin."
"That's... strangely ceremonial..." Fubuki noted glancing between the pair before Yugi turned to address him.
"When my words reshape reality at a whim I have to be formal from time to time," Yugi pointed out breezily before looking about himself. "Ok, I'm here now. Questions?"
"God is here..." Tutu whispered in stunned awe, even as Blader, Dice and the others started to move forward. Even the Cybers of Ryo's room, Heroes from Judais, and Scout and Harpy began arriving in this sort of rush.
Yugi looked at the new faces and before looking down, already aware of what they wanted but were anxious about asking. "I'm merely here to explain the situation, until I find my own reality its not advisable for me to just intervene."
"But you 'can'," Asuka clarified before her head lowered. "I'm sorry, every time I open my mouth I cause problems."
"That's fine, questions are a means to learning," Yugi pointed out with a faint smile. "While we are many, we don't all act the same."
"What is this we're supposed to be doing, you can start with that." Yusei began, his displeasure and discomfort fairly vibrating off him in waves.
"You. As in you, do what you want, when it comes to Yusuke and Yubel, that's not your problem as a Dragon. Yubel became the way they are because of Judai's actions and those two are his problems not your concern." Yugi began before leaning back until he was reclining in an unseen seat.
"But we 'can' get involved, it just means we can't exactly get you to help us through the Crimson Dragon," Aki clarified and was rewarded with a nod. "Hence why we can get the duel spirits to help Momoe!"
"But we still have a negation," Yusei pointed out, still ill at ease and not bothering to take his eyes off of Yugi.
"There... is a problem in the timelines, someone that needs to be dealt with," Yugi began slowly, picking each word with care. "Kara is of the mind of killing two birds with one stone, hence her willingness to get involved. The negation itself, is what she wants you to deal with and this is just the quickest means to an end."
"Really? Because I was getting the feeling that our timeline is expendable," Yusei pointed out. His frown growing deeper as Yugi gave a slight shrug, that 'well it is' that made his muscles tense. "We're not expendable!"
"You're also not a God, and have a right to make choices of your own free will. Which we have and continue to respect for the most part." Was the instant retort, "its easy for you to say that, to cite the lives of this timeline. I use games to interface with you, role playing so that we can communicate. When I have to end a 'session' because one persons' actions have ballooned out to not just affect their time line. But when they start to spread like a cancer infecting everything it touches... " Yugi folded his hands properly, sitting as though behind a large corporate desk. It actually brought to Yusei's mind the sight of Kaiba in his office.
"Would any of you like to know, for even a moment, what it feels like when the waking half of a world realizes its about to end? Sometimes its in the billions, sometimes its no one because this issue has already eradicated all sentient life on that world."
Yusei wasn't willing to gamble on if Yugi could and would, and instead glared at Yugi for all of a moment before lowering his own gaze.
"So you're being forced to destroy realities to stop the spread? Its like that fire burning through Momoe and Junko," Aki noted as she moved forward so she was a little more at Yuseis's side.
"That fire is something unique to the Duel Spirits, but its something well known in the human world. Infamous even," Yugi pointed out. When the teens blinked at him, he realized that it hadn't been taught. "Warfare, it was used in warfare, look up 'napalm' sometime, and the way it was used." He paused and looked off to the side towards the nurses station. "Its outlawed, and apparently the doctors don't see how its possible that the girls got confronted by it. So they haven't tried to follow the injury to that. For which don't blame them, napalm made in the hands of man involves chemicals to create, in this case it is not there. Yubel created napalm without the chemical products so there's nothing for the staff to trace." He blinked before turning his attention once more to the teens in the room.
"As for how it was applied to your friends, yes, Yubels' original flame has become corrupted into 'that'. Mostly," Yugi grimaced as he sat there, "its an aspect of the corrupt light that got to them. It did this to them, and even if they wanted to Yubel can't fix what they've done."
"So where did Yubel come from?" Fubuki asked, his features focused, gone was the high school romeo.
"Yubel is a great deal like my Mah-Magician, a servant of intense loyalty from a past life. Like my Magician Yubel agreed to become what they are, so they could continue to serve and protect their friend and master. Like myself, Judai forgot, yet..." Yugi suddenly clamped his mouth shut, he looked away and then began shaking his head. "That's Judai's story, and he is the one who should share it with you. Just because I know everything doesn't mean it stops being gossip if I report the events in his or anyone elses' place."
"If I didn't bring up the idea of going to the Duel Spirit world, what would have happened that day?" Asuka asked, her voice soft and meek, causing Tutu to grab her hand and hold it out of empathy.
Yugi looked at Asuka, weighing the question for and against revealing it. "No, I won't tell you, because its a limited view of life. One moment of time can change a person's life forever, true. But not just because the Duel Spirit world was involved. Live your life, because you need this lesson," he answered even as he heard the 'not at the expense,'.
"Not at the expense of my friends! Mo..." Asuka crammed her fist into her mouth as a greater fear that Momoe would hear and get upset overrode her.
"Life is freedom of choice, to make choices, and understand when your choices hurt or help others. And now you have another choice regarding her," Yugi answered before standing up. "What Kara is planning, is that if you can find a way to find the me of your reality, and bring that me back, Seto would come with that me. He can heal her injuries completely, make her flesh and bone and everything as good as new. I left that responsibility to him, so you really need him," Yugi explained. "Until then, if Momoe can bond with a Spirit that has strong healing properties Aki can bring them forth to heal her. The fire will just damage it again yes, but that's the long and short of it."
"So how are we supposed to deal with this 'issue'? Is it coming to our world? Do we have to go to it? You made it sound like its in another timeline and we can't travel. Or is that something the 'you' of our timeline can do as well." Yusei asked, only it was Blader that answered with quiet uncertainty.
"So the two birds is that if we can find the You of our time, you can send the Dragons to stop this bigger threat to our world, while Momoe can be healed by those who would return with you...?"
Yugis' smile was both amused and pleased as he nodded his head towards Blader, "I believe you have your answer. And now that is answered," Yugi raised a hand in a small gesture and was gone as suddenly as he had appeared.
"How do we get Momoe to bond with a healing Duel Spirit though?" Scout asked uselessly into the air. "Her bond with me was from her love of life and happiness... She's so filled with negative feelings who would... Who would believe me that she has such a wonderful spirit, when she just... If only my wings were greater, like the sisters..."
"It won't be the same as it was for us," Witch agreed, "These spirits are already alive, we evolved into existence from our bonds with our partners..."
But even as she tried to point out what was obvious to her, her doll like eyes fell upon Panther Warrior and the spirits that evolved from Jounouchi. Now partnered with Fubuki they were literally present proof that it 'could' be done.
"It can be done though.." Fubuki noted from his bed as he glanced at Witch then at his own spirits. He could have been giving voice to Witchs' own thoughts as he looked at the gambling and warrior themed spirits around him. "These spirits have their own minds and thoughts, they would just have to be swayed to help. No different than human people."
"I'll talk to Momoe," Asuka began while pushing her blanket away.
"Wait," Yusei interrupted her. "I need to read up on what napalm does then we need to figure out which healing spirits are strong enough to get the job done. The spirits had no idea what the fire was and are offering their help. But the ones who just aren't strong enough shouldn't be put in this situation. We need strong ones right from the start," Yusei pointed out while Phoenix gave a soft clacking sound.
"I can research that once we find the spirits... I only need information on the fire," he tilted his head bird like before waddling himself to turn back towards Ryo's room. "Though perhaps a weaker healer would be fine for Junko, her injury isn't going to kill her. And if it helps sustain her leg until God comes back all the better."
'Something strong enough to cause the eradication of whole timelines...' Yusei thought to himself as he nodded in acknowledgment of the groups' decision. 'It didn't sound like its totally wiped out all of life in each of those timelines. At least not until Yugi was forced to step in, and 'that' is what our next 'mission' is?'

It felt like it should have been much later than it was when Yusei was finally able to leave the hospital. For a time he thought he would need to leave to find a computer, but it felt too time consuming and in the end he merely asked Momoe's doctor. She had been taken aback by the question, the mere suggestion of napalm. Pointing out that it was a war crime to use that because of how it affected victims.
But as she had been explaining this to him, in that slow measured tone of talking to a less educated person... A frown had formed on her lips as she seemed to start becoming aware of something. He could literally see the lists in her mind being drawn up, compared and finding similarities. Clearly he had left her with a lot to think about, as she retreated to her office and left him alone in the hallway. The description of the stuff left him feeling a weariness in the very core of his being.
So he turned his steps back to the elevator, needing to find Aki and converse with Cyber Phoenix.
"The Turbo Duel King?" A childs' voice caught his attention with that title, causing Yusei to blink and look around. It was from his right, but he couldn't see any child as he looked about, his gaze sweeping a wide room that served as a nurses' central station. Said nurses were all women, manning computers, monitoring readings and clearly not the speaker.
And he didn't see any active spirits roaming around thanks to Aki's ability. 'I'm not cra-,' the thought stopped itself as the speaker appeared. A boy eagerly pumping at the wheels of his wheelchair was making his way, eyes locked on Yusei. Which was enough to stop Yusei from leaving all together, turning instead and walking towards the child. Just to see the childs' expression brighten even more.
"So cool," the boy looked up at Yusei with the same kind of naked awe that Yusei saw at school when he first arrived. But this child, he never saw one in a wheelchair in all his few visits...
It took him aback when the child bowed at him, was it not just a school time thing? But before he knew it the child was excitedly curious and asking questions. Being questioned was strangely comforting after all the issues he had been given. Favorite duels, humble questions on the quality of the deck the child had... Problematic when he knew that any one of these cards could have started developing a soul.
He guided the child over to the waiting room area where there was a table so he could look over the cards. Letting them have a quiet chance to interact, even sharing a duel so he could see the boy's level and skill with his level up deck. There was this strange level of talent the boy had. Perhaps it was being confined to the chair that allowed Jun to have the time he needed to figure out tactics.
But now that they were here, Yusei noticed the slightly paler than normal skin, the child appeared a little thinned out. The nurses would walk by and he could see that they were intentionally glancing into the room, not at Yusei. So Jun was a long term care patient and Yusei began to become wary that he might wear the child out. They had a duel, and he spent time giving tips and pointers to the child.
Talking far more than he was used to when a squeak of surprise caught his attention. Glancing over he saw Witch, but more importantly she saw him seeing her. She lifted her hands and began panic signaling to probably ignore her. So he returned his attention back to the child while Witch disappeared.
"What is it like riding a D-Wheel? I want to ride one but well... mine doesn't have a motor." Jun patted the armrests of his wheelchair which got Yusei's mind running. Just why 'couldn't' they install a motor to a wheelchair? Realistically a motorized chair should have been an option...
"Its a good experience, I've built two D-wheels from scratch. My friends helped of course, but it wasn't bought the way most are obtained," Yusei began. "It wasn't easy, there was a great deal of hours, given where I grew up, there wasn't parts readily available either. I had to learn a lot of different hands on skills and make parts for it to work." He explained thinking back on those long hours and nights filled staring at piles of failed rods. Overheated, bent properly but warped as he waited for it to cool. Crafting springs had been a new form of nightmares, and it had forged a new appreciation for blacksmiths of the feudal era and further back.
"But you did it! I want to do something cool like build a D-Wheel... well, build myself a motor for my wheelchair." Jun looked down then began digging into a side pack he had on his chair. "I even drew designs for it!"
Yusei watched as a sketchbook was pulled out and soon found himself looking over the shaky drawn designs of a child. Yet he saw his own effort in the determined lines of the motor and found it wasn't a 'motor' for movement Jun was going for. Rather he was trying to make a wheelchair act like a D-Wheel. A level of intention and determination that brought a smile to Yusei's face even as he wondered about the safety of such ideas...
