After making things right with the Shimon family and participating in the Arcoboleno Trials, Tsuna finally meets his new ally Rosetta.
"Another school day finished with me still in one piece, remarkably…" Tsuna uttered with a slightly relieved sigh while making his way back home. "Oddly enough it was pretty peaceful but Reborn no doubt has plans for my after school tutoring…"
He thought about ditching for a while but knew his tutor would hunt him down if he did, so he continued on his way home.
Once the Vongola boss to be reached the front door to his place he took a deep breath to brace himself before opening it. "I'm home!" He announced hesitantly.
There was no answer so he continued half to himself. "Everyone must be out then…" - he trailed off while removing his shoes but then happened to notice a pair of unfamiliar brown boots - "Wait, whose are those?"
"Ah Tsuna, you've arrived just in time." Reborn suddenly spoke from behind his student, causing him to jump out of his skin.
"Reborn! You nearly gave me a heart attack!" The brunette teen exclaimed aggressively at the small hitman.
"You wouldn't be in this situation if you were prepared." The hitman tutor stated in reply. "By the way if I were aiming to kill, you'd be dead before you knew it."
'Can't I even get a moment's rest in my own home?' His student thought exhaustingly before going on to ask about the owner of the boots.
"I was just about to get to that," Reborn answered stoically. "I have someone I'd like you to meet. Follow me."
Before his student could utter a word in protest he turned and walked into the living room without waiting for him. Tsuna froze for a moment then hesitantly entered the room after his tutor.
Inside he saw sitting at the low table a relatively attractive female brunette with pale grayish blue colored eyes. From what the young boss in training could see she was wearing a thin dark grey hoodie under a sky blue pleather jacket and off white jeans.
Reborn smirked before continuing with introductions. "This is Rosetta Mezzanotte. I have personally selected her to become your wife."
It took a minute for it to sink in before Tsuna exclaimed with surprise and disbelief. "Reborn you can't be serious!"
"Oh, but I am. Rosetta has been raised specifically to become a boss' wife, and I have determined that she'd be a perfect match for you."
The Vongola boss to be listened and then turned to face his guest who silently smiled at him, making him blush a little. "L-Look I'm not trying to be rude or anything but you seem a bit…too old for me…" he said slowly, choosing his words carefully. "Besides, I happen to like…" He trailed off, uncertain on how to finish.
Rosetta quickly picked up on this and stated with interest, "Someone else? Would that by any chance be Haru Miura…or Kyoko Sasagawa, perhaps?"
"How do you know that?!" Tsuna asked, his face becoming bright red.
"Oh, I've been keeping tabs on you since you started under Reborn's tutelage." The brunette female replied with a knowing smirk.
'Creepy…' was all the teen could think in response. Suddenly he remembered something and asked aloud, "Wait a minute! I've seen you before at the inheritance ceremony and then you were there healing the wounded during the last Arcoboleno Trial!"
"How very perceptive." She complemented him with an impressed tone. "I thought you said he was useless, Reborn. He doesn't seem so useless to me."
"You're witnessing a rare moment here when Dame-Tsuna isn't so useless." The hitman replied.
"So cruel…" the Vongola boss in training uttered under his breath before continuing aloud. "So I have to ask…You're not really here as my wife candidate, are you Mezzanotte-san?"
"You're right again! Allow me to properly introduce myself," she said proudly. "I am Rosetta Mezzanotte, the tenth generation boss of the Mezzanotte family and you'll be happy to know I happen to like someone else too."
"It's Dino Cavallone~" Reborn added with a giggle. The two of them looked over to see him dressed like a little school girl.
"C'mon Reborn, this isn't some schoolyard!" Tsuna nagged lightly at him but still asked her curiously, "You really like Dino-san?"
"Ah, well…" the woman suddenly started fumbling with her words as she blushed. "It's kind of complicated. Lately it seems we come together as a set so a lot of people think we're together but we're just really good friends."
"Does that mean Dino-san is here now?"
"No, but I heard he'll be arriving by tomorrow morning."
"I've invited him and Rosetta for breakfast." The tutor chimed in.
"So you'll be staying here for a while then." The Vongola boss in training concluded.
"Yes. Usually I don't visit a place personally unless there's something serious that needs my attention…" Rosetta said in reply somewhat ominously. She paused and noticed the teen's expression of horror and concern, then continued in a lighter tone. "But I'm only here to allow the subordinate I've stationed here a proper vacation since he's had so much to deal with and I wanted to properly meet you all so…"
Upon hearing this Tsuna instinctively let out a sigh of relief.
"That doesn't mean I'll be holding back on my tutoring though." Reborn commented seriously, making his student tense up. "We need to make a boss of you yet and since Rosetta is here maybe she can lend a hand."
"I'm really just here to keep an eye on things." The Mezzanotte boss clarified. "But if I have the time I would like to personally meet the rest of the Vongola guardians and possibly gauge their strengths."
'Good luck with that,' the Vongola boss in training thought, knowing just how tiring a task such as that would be.
Suddenly a text tone sounded and Rosetta instantly reacted by pulling out her phone and checking it. "And that's my queue to leave," she stated after a moment while pocketing her phone and standing. "It was nice to finally meet you, Sawada-kun."
"You don't have to be so formal. Just call him Dame-Tsuna like everyone else does." The tutor hitman chimed in bluntly.
The Mezzanotte boss chuckled softly. "I wouldn't call him that. Perhaps he would be more comfortable with me calling him Tsuna-kun, but only if he calls me Rosetta-chan." The teen blushed a bright red and was rendered speechless. She laughed lightly in response and continued with, "I was only kidding. Rosetta-san will do."
He was still stunned into silence so all he could do was nod in agreement. She smiled and then walked into the hallway to put her shoes on. Once she had finished and opened the door, Rosetta found herself face to face with two of Tsuna's friends.
One of them was tall and tan with short spiky black hair and brown colored eyes. He was gazing at her with shock and awe.
The other male was slightly shorter than the first and more pale with chin length light grey hair and pale grayish green colored eyes. Once he had gotten over the initial shock he started glaring her down cautiously.
"Oh, Yamamoto and Gokudera," Tsuna greeted after a short awkward silence. "I didn't think you'd be by so soon…"
"Well I met Gokudera on the way and he was in a hurry so I just matched his pace." The tan male answered lightly. "We didn't know you had company already though."
"That's okay I was on my way out anyway." Rosetta stated in response coolly before aiming her next statement at the grey haired teen. "By the way you'll get wrinkles if you continue to scowl like that~" - she then walked past them but stopped at the gate - "I'll see you all tomorrow~"
Once she was out of earshot Gokudera finally spoke up. "What was a Mezzanotte doing here?!" He asked urgently.
"Huh? Well…" the Vongola boss to be uttered timidly. "She came to formally meet me."
"Oh, how nice. Is she one of the kid's friends then?" Yamamoto asked with a light tone, referring to Reborn.
"Yeah, she knows Dino-san quite well too." Tsuna answered.
"She may be well acquainted with those two but don't let her friendly demeanor fool you." The grey haired teen warned them cautiously.
"Eh? Why?" The brunette teen asked with shock.
Gokudera answered simply with, "Because wherever a Mezzanotte goes, disaster is sure to follow…"
