Time turned

(A/N I hope you enjoy. there will references that may have triggers to some. I hope you enjoy.)

The kids all sat at the table the next morning tired and a bit groggy. The girl first years loaded their plates with healthier foods of fruit, eggs and toast. Where the boys seemed to think meat was the only suitable substance for that morning.

A loud caw echoed in the hall and a beautiful black raven landed in front of Daphne. She smirked and untied the parcel that was attached to his leg and tapped it with her wand. It grew twice its length and twice as high. "Here you go Fallon." She gave the raven a thick piece of breakfast meat. He bobbed his head, butted her palm then flew off. "What's that Daph?" Persphone asked looking at the parcel halfway on her plate. "father was faster than I imagined he'd be." Daphne tore open the paper and pulled out several cases. Each was a dark wood with an engraving of the lid of a single rose. She opened and read the paper and nodded handing each person at the table a case. "Father says the additional ones are to be stored in the house for future members and that while the gold is appreciated it was not required. He was happy to gather the first house memorabilia for the Pendragons." Daphne then handed Persephone a coin purse.

Hermione was the first to open and gasp. "Oh they're gorgeous!" Each rapidly opening their cases. Inside were three handles of blown glass, black and royal purple swirled around it. There were 4 metal tips, a matching ink pot with lid and a solid wood stand for both the pen and pot. "Wow this is way more than I ever thought. Your father went way above and beyond." The whole table agreed, quickly storing their new pens in their bags. The cases would protect them for sure. "He also said he wants to contact some of the shops in diagon and hogsmead. Start getting other things made for us. He's very proud, I don't think I've ever read so much praise."

A deep hoot also echoed as a regal looking barn owl flitted to a stop before Persephone. She untied its load and offered it a piece of bacon, which he quickly snatched and flew away.

It was a thick envelope and she had a sneaking suspicion what it could be. Casually flicking it open, she pulled out a mult-ipage letter. She scanned through it with her eyes quickly. It had been her bank statement from gringotts. she nodded occasionally, seeing at the end that BloodAxe had indeed been promoted to her account manager, and he would start making wise investments on her behalf. For his gratitude and a small fee of course.

Hermione bit her lip off and on looking at the parchment, her curiosity trying to get the better of her. "It's a bank statement Mione."

Hermione froze. "What...what did you call me?" Persephone cocked her head to the side. "I called you mione. Is that not ok?" Hermione looked down embarrassed. "I… I like it."

Persephone nodded and tried to think to herself who called her Mione first and when. But she was drawing up blank. Guess in this timeline, it was her. "Anyway, I wanted to thank the two of you. For the pen, it's beautiful." She looked away and then back to her food not waiting for a response. The two girls glanced at each other and shrugged. "your welcome."

Soon the month of October crawled its way to the Pendragon house. Most did well in their classes minus the twins who actively did bad on purpose.

Ronald Weasley was a boy on a mission. His neck and ears were red with fury as he stomped his way up to the owlery. His mother held no sympathies for him. He cried and whined his way to a howler. How he should be friends with the boys friends, that it will endear Ron to him. But what did she know?

It was bad enough he hung around the Longbottom heir, the kid was a squib! And that Malfoy too! Dumbledore promised he would be best friends with the boy who lived. But that boy wanted nothing to do with him! A good light sided respectable pure blood. His face darkened more. And those girls flocked around him, the muggleborn and the unknown girl he didn't care about but he knew the names of Greengrass and Davis. Neutral families. They'd make Harry bad. He just knew it.

After another letter sent to his mother he began part one of his ploy. Get the two muggleborn or raised or whatever they were out of the way. But how?

He grinned, he knew just what to do.

Hermione walked out of a stall in the girl's lavatory and wiped her face. This was the third time Ronald Weasley made her cry, and the third time Persephone waited patiently by the entry door for her friend. "Mione it's ok, he's a git what does he know?" Hermione gave a halfhearted attempt at a smile and looked down, washing her hands at the sink. "You're brilliant. He just can't see that."

"You don't have to lie Persephone. I know I'm a know it all and…"

"And?"

"Nothing… it's nothing…let's go."

As the month went on Ronald came around more and more, finding every reason to make fun of either Persephone or Hermione., Persephone did her best to take the brunt of it so Hermione wouldn't.

Harry caught on rather quickly and despite his own mind making him feel worthless and alone around this time of year, he kept pushing the red head away.

It came to a boiling point at classes the day of the 31st when Hermione sat next to the redhead in charms class. And being the person she was, tried to help Ron with the spell. He grew angry, picked up her glass pen and threw it against the wall, shattering it. Hermione stood and ran from the room. Flitwick furiously took 15 points from Gryffindor and continued his class. Persephone watched from where she sat next to Daphne, wanting to get up and follow. It was her fault she sat next to the git. Harry gave her a look of worry then a look of pure hatred at the redhead. "She'll be ok, just a few more minutes of class then we can go get her."

There was a tickle in Persephone's mind, like today was important and she couldn't clear her mind enough to think of it. After class, they told the others to go to the great hall and they would hunt down Hermione.

It took them almost an hour and a half to find the bathroom that sniffles could be heard from. They could see other students filling quickly down the halls to their common room, but the two girls just shrugged and entered the bathroom. "Hermione…it's us." Daphne called out.

"Go away…" came the muffled response. "Mione, it's ok I'll give you mine." Persephone started but was harshly cut off by a deep grumble behind them. Shit. Right…troll.

The troll was massive standing almost to the ceiling. He wore only a loin cloth, but even that didn't fully cover the beast.

"Um…Daphne… you wouldn't happen to know any spells to incapacitate a troll do you?" Daphne was white, shaking looking at the troll who grumped sniffing around. "N..no."

"Right…HERMIONE GET LOW!" the moment she began to move the troll roared and swung his massive club, destroying the stalls above her. "Hermione stay there don't move! Hell think he got you." Daphne shouted and quickly picked up debris to throw at the beast. Clonking it on the head. He roared again and swung in a wide arch. Both girls shouted in alarm diving to opposite sides. How did they do it. How did they do it? Persephone raced through her mind while dodging blows. "Girls! Hold on!"

They looked at the door seeing Harry, Draco and Neville. The three of them began to taunt the beast dividing its attention. Hermione despite the warning to stay began to move with the troll distracted. Soon she was by the two girls throwing stuff herself. But he locked eyes on her again and roared. Ignoring the boys now. "Shite!" Harry called out and did the bravest and stupidest thing he could think of. He jumped on it's back.

Saddling it like a horse around its neck, he locked his legs and began to squeeze, not only to stay on but cut off its air supply. With an outraged shout he thrust his wand up the beast's nose and shouted out as the beast gripped him by the ankle.

The other two boys locked their eyes pulled their wands and together cast the levitation spell, lifting the trolls club from its grasp.

The girls not idle began to throw stuff once again, the heaviest they could lift and toss.

Harry snarled in outrage and curled in on himself, swinging just enough to touch his wand tip and command. "Wingardium leviosa!"

There was a sickening pop, and a thunk as the club fell into its skull. Dropping Harry and the boys swiftly pulling him to safety, the beast fell over.

The six of them stared at the beast, red oozed from its ears. "Harry…I think you killed it." Neville spoke softly. Harry grimaced and walked closer, kicking it hard in the chin, when it didn't move, it's eyes unblinking, he dislodged his wand with a wet suction pop. The tip of his wand was caked in blood and slime.

"Oh my goodness!" Professor McGonagall sputtered out as she and the other heads as well as Dumbledore we're led by Traci to the bathroom. "Quickly away from the beast!" Once all the students were safely behind her, flitwick went forward casting charms on the troll. "It's dead." He said simply, turning and locking eyes with Harry, who was trying to clean off his wand. Dumbledore gave a sorrowful sigh. "Did you have to kill the creature?..." He began but was cut off by professor Snape. "I believe points should be awarded to the Pendragons."

"What ever for? They put themselves in serious danger." Dumbledore tried to argue. "We didn't go looking for it on purpose." Daphne cooly spoke, glancing at the dirt on her hands. "We went to find Hermione. After Weasley made her cry. We didn't even know the troll was loose, let alone we were in any danger. If the boys hadn't come to find us we'd…"

"We'd probably be dead." Hermione added softly. The heads all looked to Dumbledore who rolled his eyes and gave a stiff nod before swiftly walking out of the room. Snape gave an indigent sniff then eyes the group. "5 points from Pendragon for reckless behavior." Their faces fell. "But…50 points to Pendragon for aiding your fellow students and stopping the threat." With a swish of his cloak, he left the room.

That night they all sat around the round table, Harry was being smothered by Tonks with not even a flicker of help from any of the others as she smooshed him. "What on earth were you thinking?" She kept muttering her hair switching from pink to red with her mood shifting between relief and anger at the boy. He tried in vain a few times to escape before he just accepted his fate.

"You think Dumbledore will address the problem to the parents?" Draco drawled looking about to the walls and blank banners. "I doubt it. We should write down our own recollection of events. Who knows what could happen. We might have to give a statement to the DMLE if he does." Cedric pointed out, rising to grab some blank parchment, a few others joining him.

Persephone saw Hermione slip away and quickly rose to follow her. She sat in the furthest chair by the fire. "Hermione…" she wouldn't look up, her cheeks were flushed. "It's okay you know." Persephone sank to her knees in front of Hermione trying to get the girl to look at her. "you're safe, we're all safe. And I think Harry is secretly liking all the attention he's getting from tonks." Still she said nothing.

"I'm not leaving until I see those hazel eyes of yours. And you see it really is ok."

"I let his words get to me."

"He is a git. He was bound to say the right thing to get under your skin."

"He wasn't getting to you. He was just as mean to you."

Persephone gave a gruffled chuckle. "It did, but I was more worried about you than anything he could say about me. When you ran off I was ready to follow you then. And I should have." Hermione shook her head violently. "No, I would have just pushed you away. It's what I do."

"You've lost me Mione."

She huffed frustrated and glanced at her eyes finally. Green meeting hazel. "All those bullies I had before. They won by using words against me. By turning the other kids against me…so I pushed them away first so I wouldn't get hurt."

"Well, tough. You're stuck with me." Persephone gave a Cheshire grin which caused Hermione to sigh loudly. "Yes I got that when you helped fight the troll."

"Guess you'll be getting mad at me a lot. I have a feeling there will be a lot more adventures for all of us." Hermione groaned smacking her face into her hands. Persephone only kept smiling.

It had been a few days later that the girls were approached by the heads of house. "We finally got approval from Dumbledore. He had to bring it to the attention of the board, with testimony from the older students agreeing that other sports would be a good idea." Professor Sprout began. "And it's a bit cold outside for the ball with feet…" flitwick tried but was cut off by Snape. "Football Filius."

"Ah yes that! But we found an unused classroom on the second floor we've modified to create what you drew for us and your notes were also very helpful. Come!" The two girls were led by the professors to a large room. The flooring had changed to a nice laminate wood, painted into a court, seating on both sides, they had to duck through an archway to get to the center.

The hoops were anchored to the wall and hung the appropriate distance off the floor. They even had a larger log for score hanging on the wall. It still had to be manually flipped but it was better than not being able to see a score at all.

The Hogwarts crest was painted in the center. "This looks fantastic!" Persephone looked about. Hermione agreed taking in the seating and testing the sturdiness of the wood. "Can't fit a lot of students or parents but games are more often then quidditch." McGonagall spoke up smiling softly. "That won't matter much, until we get all the equipment and we have peer coaches for the teams who understand how the game works and madam hooch learns the rules to properly referee." Filius objected. "It will still be nice to come and just play some pick up matches. Especially with it so cold out. I know of at least three boys who are eager to get started." Persephone chuckled. "Plus with Christmas coming up I can get more balls, shoes, shorts and tops. As long as I can get help with sizing after so they'll all fit, we can have basketball ready for march."

"Well Miss Gallows make sure to keep all the receipts. With the school board agreeing, you may get reimbursed. If we can start it here at Hogwarts, they'll take the credit if other schools also take it up and interschool matches can be attempted. We've been trying for a quidditch for years. But we could never get enough players to cooperate to be a Hogwarts team." McGonagall sniffed with indignation. "The rascals. This however I can see working. As well as your footie ball." Persephone resisted the urge to chuckle and only gave a deep nod in understanding. "Will you need help with this break to get the stuff? I can help by going with you?" Hermione seemed hopeful and persphone grinned. "Sounds like a plan!"

After showing the others the new "gym." They were all set to play, but they didn't have the right shoes to play, except Harry who had trainers on. That's something Harry is gonna have to accept. He won't have a choice. Persephone had a plan, and she was going to make it a reality. She knew Dumbledore had a certain plan for Harry after going over the notes in her journal. But he was just gonna have to suck it up. Harry was going with her for Christmas this year.

The month of November seemed to drag on. Classes blended into each other and the homework was getting more difficult as the year went on.

The only thing that was of anything significant followed the following evening.

Everyone was sitting waiting for the food to appear when the doors to the great hall opened and a white clad Tonks strode into the room, a giant spectral form of Alrgon floated beside her. She wore a solid white tunic with a cloak and helmet with a white plume on it's top. She strode with confidence and did not waver to look at anyone who gawked at her.

Where the podium stood, it vanished and in it's place a stone platform began to rise with a set of stairs on both sides. She paused at the base of the platform as the dragon circled above before facing the hall.

FILIUS FLITWICK I AM IN NEED OF YOUR ASSISTANCE IN A MOMENT.

STUDENTS OF HOGWARTS LEND ME YOUR EAR AND HEAR ME WELL. THIS IS A DAY OF CELEBRATION AND REJOICE!

THE SOUL BEFORE YOU IS TO BE THE FIRST TO BE Oath Sworn!

NYMPHADORA TONKS SPEAK NOW AND LET YOUR WORDS BE HEARD. SPEAK THEM AND KNOW IT IS TRUTH!

Tonks took a knee in front of the dragon, bowing her head.

DUELING MASTER FLITWICK, COME AND STAND BEFORE US AND BARE WITNESS. AND KNIGHT THEE.

Flitwick quickly scrambled to the platform, where a long sabre appeared in his hands. "Simply marvelous!" He squeaked then stood between the two facing the hall.

Once he was situated Tonks spoke.

"I, Nymphadora Tonks, choose the Old Code as my own. I am hereby sworn to valor, to speak only the truth, to use arms to defend the helpless, to use might to uphold the weak. My heart knows only virtue. My wrath will undo the wicked."

There was a blinding flash that caused many to gasp out. All the lights in the hall went out for a moment, then slowly relit the glow still emanating from the woman. Alrgon motioned for flitwick to approach and silently whispered to him. Flitwick loudly boasted tapping each shoulder of Tonks. "I dub thee Dame Tonks knight of Pendragon!" The blade vanished from his hands and she rose. She saluted the dragon and professor, her left arm crossing her chest with a solid thump. He grinned and saluted back, she then turned to the hall and did the same, bowing slightly as she did so.

She began to glow again, her white tunic swirled and turned a bright pink like bubblegum, the plume of her helmet matching.

Awestruck for a moment until her house rose and cheered loudly for her, the rest of the hall following suit.

Hogwarts had a knight once again.
