"Go," Asuka ordered Aki, as Witch hovered between them. "Yusei needs you, I can look after Momoe." The pair stood at the edge of the garden side eyeing the city in the distance. So far no smoke rose into the sky, or signs of outrageous battles despite the supposed 'Aki' that Yusei was facing. The sun was setting, but it was still far too bright for her to call Black Rose Dragon for a ride to the park. Traffic was also going to be an issue...
But she left all the same, her mind tore through all the options she could think of. The dragons were too visible and obvious, unlike her late night flight out of the city before. Sending her spirits to help was an option though... 'If only I had my license' was a thought that played through her mind as she walked quickly through the hospital.

"Its her, the Ancient Fairy Dragon!" Rainbow Dragon noted in quiet awe as the trio were left in their sustained holding flight pattern. The soft blue slip of a dragon, carried on vivid, beautiful butterfly wings were approaching straight for them. Signaling that the Rainbow had been noticed as the pair of slender serpentine dragons began to fly around each other.
"Rai... is that a human on your back? Child how did you come to be here?" Ancient Fairy inquired at the sight of the young human. Clearly around the age of the Dragons in their current lives, that he was a stranger and 'here' though... He was settled on the dragon's back with a smaller spirit nestled against him. Signs that he wasn't here by accident, or being looked after only by the Rainbow Dragon... still..
"Well, I was visiting Ruby and thought I would hang out with my spirit friends when this happened..." Johan called out in answer, while he was speaking rather respectfully, the rest of his mind jumped on the hamster wheel of excitement. Ancient Fairy was sleek, yet had those beautiful colored butterfly wings. Her voice was aged and gentle, bringing to mind a well worn aged pan pipe. There was this aura about her that warmed him in a way that was different from the excitement of seeing his spirit family. Reminding him of a grandmothers' warm hug or chocolate chip cookies or fresh baked bread, just warm and safe and calm.
"You came on your own?" Ancient Fairy asked before shaking her head. "While I would love to speak with you further when time allows. I must insist that you leave this area as it is quite dangerous. However; I would ask that you not return home, rather lend your aid to those who are trying to enter this world. As you clearly have the power to step through the portals, there are two who would be of great assistance to those who are fighting for their lives at the moment on the ground below."
Johan blinked, snapping out of that comfortable warmth he had been enjoying at the importance of the task. 'Its that bad...' he thought as he nodded. "If it helps the spirits down there I'll be more than glad... Its in America right?"
Rainbow had already turned around and began flying off, scanning the ground for such a portal he began swooping down. The wind rushing past his scaled head as he tried to avoid making such a sharp decline that he accidentally ripped Johan off his back.
"Uh... I suppose its too late to ask that question isn't it?"
"You mean you humans don't all speak the same language?" Ruby asked in understandable concern with their eyes slitted almost shut from the speed they were going.
"Well..." Johan began in this slow awkward manner that told Ruby that they were about to learn another unique thing about humans.
"But Johan... how are you going to talk to the people Ancient Fairy wants you to help? What if the portal takes us to another part of the world?"
"Well..."
Ruby began to honestly wish Johan would say something other than 'well'. It was so laden with 'we're screwed' energy that the poor spirit didn't know what to say exactly.
"There I see the portal!" Johan called out as he began pointing... but pointing directions out for a long serpant headed dragon wasn't exactly effective. Rainbow didn't look back, he merely descended closer to the ground leaving Johan faintly trapped into giving 'more to your left, no your other left' type instructions.
Lush grass, a beautiful sky, the Duel Spirit world was incredibly beautiful. Yet it was chased away by the ashen scent of smoke as the Ancient Fairy brought down the field card. Duel Spirits, to Johan's knowledge, didn't have blood. For which he was currently grateful as he saw the shimmering light of the portal. His chest tightened as the desire to tell Rainbow to turn around grew, to go back to the village and help the survivors.
Rainbow hadn't fully lowered itself to the ground when Johan slipped down to the ground off the dragon's back. Ruby jumped down gracefully, Johan... tumbled mostly to the ground his hands already out for when he face planted. But his legs righted themselves in time and he got to continue standing. But he wobbled with his steps and winced at the sharp pain in his legs.
"Hey, you're doing better than you did the last time you rode on Rainbow's back," Ruby praised as it bounded towards the portal. That time Johan literally hit the ground face first earning Ruby's explosively laughter in amusement.
Sapphire Pegasus was one thing with their helpful mane and slower speed in flight and body movement. Rainbow Dragon was just holding on to a smooth rope and praying to God that his hands didn't get sweaty and he slipped off! "Yes well, one day I'll get used to riding bareback," Johan replied shakily as the muscles in his thighs tried to relax.
"Yeah but the Knights and others who ride horses ride on something right? Why don't you get something for Pegasus? Or Rainbow Dragon?"
"I can't do that! They're family!" Johan replied, mortified at the mere thought of treating either as a lowly service animal and not one of his family. "It would be like slapping a saddle on a sibling or parent!"
"Not if they're ok with it and it keeps you from trying to discover what grass tastes like every time you hop off!" Ruby pointed out their eyes slitted with further opinions going off in their head.
"I thought we were friends Ruby," Johan pointed out in the most reproachful voice he could muster. Looking down at the dark furred companion that served faithfully as the voice of all his Crystal friends. Due to space constraints from time to time.
"We are!" Ruby answered before pushing itself to stand in its hind feet. Following it up by extending a paw outward?
"What are you doing Ruby?" Johan asked baffled by this gesture.
"I saw humans doing it, you just take your hand, close your fingers up, yeah like that and you bump it against my paw..."
"A fist bump," Johan clarified and while he was resigned to perform the action with Ruby, feeling the soft fur that served to cover Ruby's toes... He gathered his little friend up and let Ruby hang off his shoulder as he walked up to the portal. 'Ok just as Amethyst taught you...' Johan closed his eyes and focused on the shimmering light he could already see. Then 'extended' his power outwards towards it. The first contact with the portal always surprised him, 'imagining' he had 'power' that he could manipulate like in movies or tv felt phony. Even now as the answering 'grasp' happened, as though a strangely cool hand clasped 'his' then warmed up.
As it 'warmed' the portal itself unfurled, opening itself and allowing him to walk...
… into a freaking war zone!
Of all the things Johan expected, a park with two active duels going on was 'not' one of them! On one side was a guy he didn't know dueling some strange man with black clothes, black sunglasses and slicked back black hair. On the other...
"Ruby, isn't that the current Turbo Duel King? And doesn't he live in Japan?!"
Johan was too far away from any sign to try and read it properly. But Yusei Fudo was a resident of Japan, if he was here, and with that hair style he was. Then... 'How am I supposed to talk to anyone here?' he wondered in a growing panic as he stood there staring at the chaos going on around him. There were huge gouges in the ground and a twisted black rose looking dragon behind a woman?
The vision stung Johan's eyes as he looked, he blinked and tried to clear his vision yet the woman... thing...
"What..."
Ruby blinked at Johans' confused voice and looked over at their partner, a frown forming on their mouth. "Is something the matter Johan?"
"What is she? Why can't I look at her properly?"
Ruby jumped down from Johan's shoulder so they could look up at their partners' face... Tears were dotting Johan's eyes, while his fingers curled like claws in an effort to avoid rubbing his eyes. But he was clearly irritated by something. So Ruby scanned the area around them, planting their small paws on the ground and prepared to be Johans' sight.
There were people watching the duels, though they were rather distant and huddled together, which bespoke some serious fear to the spirit. The two people dueling were well, normal, but who they were dueling... 'They're one spirit and its a Duel Spirit thing?' Ruby noted, as its fur began to fluff up. 'Maybe a corrupt spirit?'
"Its not a 'she', the one facing the other youth is what it more commonly appears as I suspect. It took the twisted form of one of my fellow dragons." Stardust stated from where he stood on the ground his wings half unfurled so he was sheltering Yusei under them as best as he could. Unsummoned in the real world, invisible to all save this one boy...
"Twisted? Yeah I vaguely recall her from that one tournament..." Johan agreed causing Stardust to turn and look at him, those orange eyes widening in surprise.
"You can understand me? Oh that's good, be a good kid and tell Yusei that Aki is coming and she's going to be super angry when she sees 'that'."
Johan blinked at the voice and turned his gaze upward towards the dragon. Stardust was an interesting dragon to look at, while the rest of the opponents caused his eyes to water. Stardust felt rather refreshing, the dragon twisted his neck around so he could look down at Johan, letting the young man see his orange colored eyes and after a moment the dragon blinked.
"But I don't speak Japanese..." Johan pointed out, feeling rather meek in the presence of this strangely old feeling dragon with such a young voice.
"Huh? Oh, Yusei understands English if you can speak that. I can't tell you about Judai over there, but Yusei easily speaks it."
"You need to call us Johan, you need us all here..." Ruby finally instructed, their hackles raised in mounting alarm.
"Call..." Johan shook his head for a moment before looking back over at Yusei. "Um hey! Yusei? Stardust has a message?" 'Wait, don't Japanese people use last names first? Oh man did I just screw up?' Johan mentally bemoaned as the Turbo Duel King turned to look at him.
"How did you get over there?" He asked, and for Johan's great relief, in English.
Johan could see a sizable bruise on Yusei's jaw, Johan was a little taken aback that the guy could talk. If it was there, it had to extend down past the collar of the thick blue jacket he was wearing. 'That's what Ruby is talking about...' he realized with a sickening realization. Yusei couldn't apparently summon, sure they were dueling but his opponent was only receiving the numerical damage as cited in the game. But Yusei was taking out right 'physical' damage!
Johan reached down to his belt where he wore his deck and closed his eyes. Reaching for the deck the way he reached for the portal. "Come out!"
Pegasus, Mammoth, Cat, literally everyone began to manifest, one by one in ready for combat stances. Prismatic auras, while the spirits were invisible to the naked eye, their auras' served to illuminate the area revealing Stardust standing on the park grounds to the physical world. Each spirit linked to Johan began to push out with his own power, channeling what he was outward. The corrupted mist was pushed back, the air being purified as the spirits began to go to the two duelists and move outward.
Stardust found himself suitable impressed with the Gem Beasts presence. As they moved out to face the corruption of this Spirit they pushed back the warped power. Freeing him so he could spread open his wings, allowing the dust that ever fell from him to illuminate the growing evening. Rising up he stood more proactively over Yusei.
The twisted version of Rosy irritated him, the bloom of the rose were blackened at the edges and curled. Its darken stem based body was burned and mostly thorns, a twisted take on one of the Dragons. While the 'Aki'... was unsettling most of all. The clothes were clearly modern cut and designed, but he recognized the war paint and attire all the same. The modern cut of an old design, a priestess gone mad.
Yusei didn't recognize what stood before him, and Stardust was relieved in that. But Stardust remembered and sensing Aki's approach made him all the more angry. An eagle flew between him and the offending pair, and with the beats of those large wings it seemed to dispel more of the negative power. The clothes shifted, for a moment the gown turned pants, 'this child is pretty powerful if he's causing this through his deck. Clearly not trained and Fairy probably wants some time with him to train him up. But between him, Aki and maybe even Ruka they could do a proper clean up job here.' He mused as he blasted a breath weapon at the fake Rosy.
"Who let that THING HERE?!" Rosy, in question, hissed from the darkness around the edges of the Gem Beasts. "WHO DOES THAT THING THINK IT IS?!"
"Once Aki gets close enough we can find out Rosy," Stardust offered, 'should I even bother to try and calm her down?'
Trueman's false Aki was, as Yusei stood there, being forced to change back as he watched. For which he was happy, given perhaps only the ensuing darkness was keeping people from thinking it 'was' Aki. Her father wouldn't need the negative press as the fake Black Rose tore tracks along the ground and tried to grab Yusei. Yet so long as they stayed focused on him, they didn't turn their attention on the unwelcomed audience.
Park goers who believed this to be a type of double duel and stood to watch without realizing the actual danger they were all putting themselves in. While Judai was having his own trying time with the, actually appearing as, Trueman.
"I'm not going to ask again, give me back Yubel!"
"You cast them out," Trueman pointed out, causing Judai to fairly growl in mounting frustration.
He was trying to get his spirits out and fuse them, but Trueman just kept making warped copies of them. Warped in the way Yubel was now, their heroic forms distorted into corrupted villains. His arm was fairly numb from a blast, making holding up his duel disk painful. His clothes were smoking a bit from a blast he hadn't realized he needed to move from in time.
Though thankfully Trueman couldn't hurt Judai's spirits the way Yubel could, when a Topaz bearing white tiger appeared. They rumbled deep in their chest as they fairly glowed with that beautiful color. A color and light that was enough to push Trueman 'back'! The beast roared and just the vibrations of that war cry dispersed the darken mist. In the distance the park path lamps began to glow more brightly making it easier for Judai to see his hand.
"I don't know where you came from but boy am I glad you're here..." He called out to the tiger, while an amber hued Mammoth lumbered by. The weight of the mist left him and in the distance the fearful cries of strangers who had been watching finally eased.
"A young priest is here it seems," Avian mused glancing over his shoulder in appreciation of the help.
