Levincia Gym Battle
Before Lincoln entered Levincia, he took the time to train his new Finizen and his other Pokemon a bit more. His Floette learned Wish, and Magical Leaf, his Toedscool learned Mud Shot, and his Finizen learned Double Hit and Dive. After that, Lincoln continued on his way until he finally reached Levincia. Once he entered the city, he immediately started looking around for the Pokemon League building. As he did, he couldn't help but notice how awesome and big the city looked.
"Man, this city is almost as big as Mesagoza." said Lincoln. He was amazed by how tall some of the buildings were and how some of them had video screens advertising stuff on them. He soon arrived at the Pokemon League building and enters the lobby. He then goes up to the receptionist who was behind the front desk.
"Hello, young man. Are you here for a Gym battle?" asked the receptionist.
"You bet." said Lincoln.
"Very well. I just need to know your name and Trainer ID number." said the receptionist. Lincoln gives the receptionist his information and he inputs it on his computer. "There we are, Lincoln. You are now registered."
"Thanks. So what is my Gym Test?" asked Lincoln.
"That's simple. You just have to star in one of Iono's livestreams?" said the receptionist. Lincoln was surprised.
"Iono? The famous livestreamer here in Paldea?" replied Lincoln.
"Not surprising you've heard of her." said the receptionist. "She is quite popular."
"I'll say." said Lincoln. "I always watch her videos when I'm not too busy studying at the academy."
"Yes. In addition to being a popular livestreamer, she's also the Levincia City gym leader." said the receptionist.
"Whoa! That's so cool." said Lincoln.
"Anyway, she wants you to dazzle her audience with your skills and help get more subscribers for her channel." said the receptionist. "Just go outside and you'll see what you have to do. Now get out there and have fun." Lincoln turns and exits the building. After he does, he hears a girl's voice call out from out of nowhere.
"Ladies aaand gentlemens! It's time for the Iono Zone!" said the voice. Lincoln looks up and sees himself on one of the large video screens on the building in front of him. Also was a girl with pink and blue hair with matching hair accessories that look like Magnemites with smaller magnets and some of her hair tied to a bow on the front of her head, a large yellow and black sweater with a star that has a play button on it with a lightning bolt connected to it, and she was wearing it over a silver outfit and one silver legging. Lincoln recognizes her as Iono. He then realizes he's being livestreamed right now on one of Iono's videos. "Hey, hey, heyyy! Your eyeballs are MINE! Caught in my Electroweb! Whosawhatsit? Iono! I'm the Gym Leader here! 'Ello, 'ello, hola! Ciao and bonjour!" Lincoln decides to have some fun with this Gym Test.
"'Ello, 'ello, hola! Ciao and bonjour!" replied Lincoln.
"Oh, snap! You're cute, and already a master of Iono-ese! Not your first rodeo, then, eh?!" responds Iono. Lincoln blushed at the 'cute' comment. "So tell me; who dyed your hair? It looks so natural."
"Actually, this isn't dye. It's my natural hair color." said Lincoln.
"OMG! For real?" replied Iono.
"Yeah." said Lincoln. "See? White down to the roots." Lincoln moves his hair back to show he was telling the truth.
"That is so cool." says Iono. "So I hope this isn't that big of a surprise, but you're being broadcast live to the world right now."
"I know. I'm on one of the screens here in Levincia." said Lincoln.
"Okay, so how about a smile for all my loyal viewers?" asked Iono. Lincoln gives a big smile and waves. "Thanks, cutie." Lincoln blushes again. "So anywho, challenger! Thanks for coming to the Levincia Gym to see me!"
"No problem." said Lincoln. "In fact, I'm one of your subscribers."
"I'm so happy you are and that you're here, but I'm also a bit of a celeb, ya know? I'm all kiiinds of busy!" said Iono. "So, I can't collab with you unless I know you can bring in those sweet, sweet viewer numb-Er, I mean, I gotta make sure you can bring some real passion to my stream! Nyohoho! And if you want to battle me, you're gonna have to help me make this livestream a viral hit first! Got it?"
"Sure! I'd be happy to. It sounds fun!" said Lincoln with enthusiasm.
"Cute and energetic, just like me!" said Iono. "I can tell that you can't wait to get started! Well, well, WELL then! Allow me to explain the plan! Come on out, Mr. Walksabout!" To Lincoln's surprise, he sees Mr. Clavell walking up to him.
"Hi, Mr. Clavell. What are you doing here?" asked Lincoln with surprise.
"Hello, Lincoln. What a coincidence, meeting you here." said Mr. Clavell.
"Say whaaat?! Do you guys know each other know each other or something?" replied Iono.
"Yeah. Mr. Clavell is the head of the academy I attend." replied Lincoln.
"Oh. Well anyway, this here dude had a real aura about him when he was walkin' down the street, so I snatched him up for my dealio here!" said Iono.
"You are too kind." replied Mr. Clavell.
"Well, anyhoo, Linky! Since your today's challenger, I'mma have you play hide-and-seek with Mr. Walksabout here!" said Iono.
"That shouldn't be too hard. The Artazon City Gym had a hide-and-seek test, also." said Lincoln.
"Anyhoo! Just look for the good gentleman using the street surveillance cameras! Just find 'im three times, and you can consider this Gym Test passed, cutie!" said Iono. "We need a better name for this challenge, though! I'll call it...'Where in Levincia is Mr. Walksabout?'!" Lincoln's Rotom Phone beeps and he looks at it to see that it's now linked with the city's surveillance cameras.
"Awesome! I can see the entire city with this!" said Lincoln.
"One question." said Iono. "What do you think of the name of the challenge? Not too iffy about it or anything, right?"
"I'm cool with it." said Lincoln.
"Thanks, cutie." said Iono. "I 'unno about you, but I'm ready to go! Get ready to hide Mr. Walksabout!"
"I feel that I owe the Pokemon League for many a past favor, so I am more than happy to help." said Mr. Clavell. "Do bear with me as I try my best in my allocated role." Mr. Clavell runs off to hide somewhere. Lincoln used the city's surveillance cameras to locate Mr. Clavell. The first time he was simply sitting at a table near the Pokemon League building; the second time he was behind the nurse's station at the Pokemon Center, and the third time he was on a small boat in the water under what looked like some sort of suspended outdoor stage that's surrounded by video screens and had the spotlights Lincoln's noticed before when he was outside town the previous night. Each time Lincoln found Mr. Clavell, aka: Mr Walksabout, a gym trainer challenged him to a battle. Lincoln was successful at defeating each one. During one of the battles, his Rockruff learned Rock Tomb, After finding Mr. Clavell a third time, Iono appears on the screen again.
"Woo! My subscriber numbers are on the rise like a super-fast Eelektross crawlin' out of the ocean! Err, I mean congratulations on passing my Gym Test!" said Iono.
"Thanks!" replied Lincoln.
"Hot diggity dang! What a good time, huh? You had people on the edge of their seats worldwide!" said Iono. "I bet I could have some suuuper rad streams by collabing with you, Lincoln. So heyyy, when you're ready, just hit up my lobby staff! They'll get you all set up to collab with me lickety-split! I'll be ready to go whenevs!" Lincoln goes back into the Pokemon League building and talk to the lobby staff who tell him where to go to have his gym battle. Lincoln heads to the outdoor stage that he saw when he was doing the Gym Test. When he arrived, he sees that Iono was already there.
"Hey, cutie!" said Iono.
"Hey, Iono. Hope I didn't keep you waiting too long." said Lincoln.
"Nope. Just about to get started." said Iono. Just then, her Rotom Phone flies out of her pocket and gets up close to her. Lincoln looks up at one of the monitors surrounding them and sees that she's livestreaming right now. "Ladies and gentlemens! Are you ready? Hey, hey, heyyy! Your eyeballs are MINE! Caught in my Electroweb! Whosawhatsit? Iono! I'm the Gym Leader here! 'Ello, 'ello, hola! Ciao and bonjour!" Her Rotom Phone then circles around her so she and Lincoln are in the same shot. "Today's challenger is flyin' high like a Wattrel! Iiit's Lincoln! Yayyy!" The Rotom Phone gets in close to Lincoln, surprising him. Iono walks up to Lincoln and stands right next to him. "How're ya feelin' about this battle, Linky?"
"I'm so excited! Not only do I get to have a gym battle with you, I get to be in one of your livestream videos!" said Lincoln.
"Looks like we got a lively one here! You'd make a gnarly influencer, cutie." said Iono. "All righty, then! Who's ready to see me kick some butt?" People who were there were chanting that they were ready. "Looks like your all getting hyped! Ah...Thank ye muchly, Electro King!" She then goes to the opposite side of the stage and turns to look at Lincoln. "Let's get this show on the road! How strong is our challenger? I 'unno! Let's find out together!" Soon, Lincoln and Iono were on a battle arena. A digital face appears on one of the screens.
"This is an official gym battle between Iono the gym leader and Lincoln the challenger." said the face. "Each trainer will use four Pokemon. The battle will end when one trainer's Pokemon are unable to battle. Let the match begin." Iono sticks her right hand out of her long sleeve, revealing it to be holding a pokeball. "Wattrel, you're on!" She throws the pokeball and releases a black, light gray, and yellow birdlike Pokemon. Lincoln takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Wattrel, the Storm Petrel Pokemon. When its wings catch the wind, the bones within produce electricity. This Pokemon dives into the ocean, catching prey by electrocuting them." said the Rotom Phone.
"Let's go, Rockruff." said Lincoln, throwing Rockruff's pokeball and releases him.
"Wattrel, use Spark." said Iono. Wattrel becomes surrounded by electricy and flies at Rockruff and rams into him, knocking him back. Rockruff suddenly becomes surrounded by electricity.
"Oh man, Rockruff's paralyzed." said Lincoln. "Rockruff, try using Rock Throw." Rockruff's neck pebbles glow white and launches rocks out of the end of his tail and into Wattrel, causing super effective damage due to flying types being weak against rock type moves.
"Wattrel, Roost." said Iono. Wattrel lands on the ground and wraps its wings around itself and glows white, healing its wounds.
"Rockruff, Leer." said Lincoln. Rockruff tries to use Leer, but paralysis kicks in.
"Wattrel, use Spark again." said Iono. Wattrel flies at Rockruff and hit Rockruff with another Spark.
"Rockruff, try Rock Tomb." said Lincoln. Rockruff fights through his paralysis and begins glowing white. Multiple rocks form above them and they fly at Wattrel, hitting it and reducing its speed. "Now Tackle it." Rockruff fights through his paralysis again and runs at Wattrel and rams into it. It falls to the ground with swirly eyes.
"Wattrel is unable to battle. Rockruff is the winner." said the face on the screen.
"You did it, Rockruff." said Lincoln.
"Ruff." replied Rockruff. Iono returns Wattrel to its pokeball.
"You were awesome, Wattrel!" said Iono. She puts Wattrel's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Bellibolt, you're on!" She throws the pokeball and releases a green froglike Pokemon. Lincoln takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Bellibolt, the EleFrog Pokemon. When this Pokemon expands and contracts its wobbly body, the belly-button dynamo in its stomach produces a huge amount of electricity." said the Rotom Phone.
"Now, Bellibolt, Water Gun!" said Iono. Bellibolt fires a stream of water out of its mouth, and it hits Rockruff. He falls to the ground with swirly eyes.
"Rockruff is unable to battle. Bellibolt is the winner." said the face.
"Yeah, Bellibolt!" cheered Iono. Lincoln returns Rockruff to his pokeball.
"You did good, boy." said Lincoln. He puts Rockruff's pokeball away and pulls out another. "Toedscool, let's go." He throws Toedscool's pokeball and releases her. "Now use Mud-Slap." Toedscool swings one of her tentacles and releases a glob of mud and it hits Bellibolt, causing super effective damage. Bellibolt begins shaking and becomes surrounded by electicity.
"Looks like you activated Bellibolt's Electromorphosis ability, cutie!" said Iono.
"What's that?" asked Lincoln.
"When Bellibolt takes damage, it boosts the power of the next electric type attack it uses!" said Iono.
"Good thing Toedscool is part ground. Electric types are useless against her." said Lincoln.
"Then I'll have Bellibolt use Tackle!" said Iono. Bellibolt runs at Toedscool, but runs past her. "Bellibolt! What's wrong!"
"Not only did Mud-Slap damage Bellibot, it lowered its accuracy." said Lincoln. "Toedscool, Wrap." Toedscool reaches out with her tentacles, and they wrap around Bellibolt and begin squeezing it.
"Bellibolt, Water Gun!" said Iono. Bellibolt fires a stream of water out of its mouth, and it hits Toedscool. "Direct hit this time!"
"Well, Toedscool won't miss with this." said Lincoln. "Mega Drain." Green energy surrounds Toedscool's tentacles that were still around Bellibolt and heals Toedscool's wound. Bellibolt passes out, making Toedscool release it.
"Bellibolt is unable to battle. Toedscool is the winner." said the face.
"Great work, Toedscool." said Lincoln. Toedscool bounces up on her tentacles in response. Iono returns Bellibolt to its pokeball.
"I'm pleased with your performance, Bellibolt, and I'm positive our viewers watching are also." said Iono. She puts Bellibolt's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Luxio, it's showtime!" She throws her pokeball, releasing a Pokemon with black and blue fur, two yellow stripes around its two front legs, and a four-point star at the end of its tail. Lincoln points his Rotom Phone at the Pokemon.
"Luxio, the Spark Pokemon, and the evolved form of Shinx. Strong electricity courses through the tips of its sharp claws. A light scratch causes fainting in foes." said the Rotom Phone. All of a sudden, Luxio becomes cloaked in a black aura and Toedscool starts trembling out of fright.
"Uh oh." said Lincoln. "I take it your Luxio has the Intimidate ability."
"Cute, energetic, and smart! You got it all, Linky!" said Iono with a wink, making Lincoln blush. "So you know that Intimidate weakens an opponent's attack power!"
"Yeah, but we won't let that stop us." said Lincoln. "And I don't think your viewers would want this gym battle to end just like that."
"You got that right!" said Iono. "Okay, Luxio! Use Ice Fang!" Luxio's fangs become coated in ice. It then lunges at Toedscool and bites down onto her, doing super effective damage due to her being part ground and grass type.
"Hurry, Toesdcool. Use Mega Drain to get some of your strength back." said Lincoln. Toedscool hits Luxio with a Mega Drain, but thanks to Intimidate, it wasn't as strong as it would've been otherwise, so it didn't do much to damage Luxio and heal herself.
"Okay, Luxio! Use Bite!" said Iono. Luxio runs at Toedscool and bites her, making her flinch. "Now finish this with Tackle!" Luxio runs at Toedscool and slams into her, sending her flying to a stop at Lincoln's feet and knocking her out.
"Toedscool is unable to battle. Luxio is the winner." said the face.
"Yayyy! Way to go, Luxio!" said Iono. Luxio does a backflip, probably to show off to the viewers watching the gym battle. Lincoln returns Toedscool to her pokeball.
"You did great, Toedscool." said Lincoln.
"Awww! You're so sweet to your Pokemon!" said Iono.
"Thanks, Iono." said Lincoln as he puts Toedscool's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Pawmot, come on out." Lincoln releases Pawmot from his pokeball. "Good thing that Intimidate won't work on any Pokemon that comes out after the Pokemon with the ability is already out."
"Well, my Luxio will still take on your Pawmot!" said Iono. "Speaking of which, your Pawmot looks super awesome! And its got a rockin hairstyle!"
"He has more than that." said Lincoln. "Pawmot, Arm Thrust." said Lincoln. Pawmot runs at Luxio and repeated strikes it with his palms, knocking it back.
"Luxio, Bite!" said Iono. Luxio runs at Pawmot and bites him. Fortunately, Pawmot doesn't flinch.
"Pawmot, use Dig." said Lincoln. Pawmot digs into the ground. Iono and Luxio look around.
"Luxio, Charge!" said Iono. Luxio becomes surrounded by electricity and bulks up, strengthening its defense. Pawmot bursts out of the ground to the left of Luxio and rams it, causing super effective damage.
"Luxio, Ice Fang!" said Iono. Luxio's fangs become encased in ice, and it bites Pawmot. Pawmot doesn't freeze, fortunately.
"Pawmot, Quick Attack." said Lincoln. Pawmot runs at Luxio with incredible speed and rams into it, knocking it out.
"Luxio is unable to battle. Pawmot wins." said the digital face.
"Great work, Pawmot." said Lincoln. Pawmot flexes his arms. Iono returns Luxio to its pokeball.
"You were righteous, Luxio!" said Iono. She puts Luxio's pokeball away. "Your Pawmot is super awesome, Linky! Just like you!" Lincoln blushes in response. "Well, awesome or not, my last Pokemon will take it on!" She pulls out another pokeball. "Mismagius, you're on!" She throws the pokeball and releases a purple, ghostlike Pokemon that looks like it was wearing a witch's hat. Lincoln points his Rotom Phone at the Pokemon.
"Mismagius, the Magical Pokemon. Its cry sounds like an incantation. It is said its cry may be imbued with happiness-giving power." said the Rotom Phone.
"I'm guessing you're going to Terastilize that Pokemon." said Lincoln.
"You got that right!" said Iono as she pulls out a Tera Orb. She throws it at Mismagius and crystal pillars form around it. They shatter and Mismagius has a crystalized body and a large light bulb on its head. "Mismagius, Confuse Ray!" Mismagius forms balls of purple energy around its body. It launches them at Pawmot and hits him. Pawmot begins stumbling around.
"Oh man. Pawmot's confused." said Lincoln. "Pawmot, try using Bite." Pawmot runs at Mismagius and was able to bite it.
"Mismagius, Magical Leaf!" said Iono. Mismagius unleashes glowing green leaves at Pawmot, hitting him.
"Pawmot, try using Charge." said Lincoln. Pawmot becomes surrounded by electricity and he bulks up.
"Mismagius, Phantom Force!" said Iono. A purple portal appears on the floor and Mismagius lowers itself into it and it vanishes.
"Pawmot, use Charge." said Lincoln. Pawmot tries to use Charge, but confusion makes it backfire on himself, damaging him. All of a sudden, another portal appears behind Pawmot. Mismagius pops out of it and strikes Pawmot in the back, knocking him onto his belly. Pawmot struggles to his feet.
"Okay, Mismagius! Finish this with Charge Beam!" said Iono. Mismagius releases a beam of electricity at Pawmot and it hits him. But instead of doing damage, it gets absorbed into Pawmot's body. Pawmot's wounds began to heal until they were mostly gone. Pawmot pumps his arms and shouts. "What! Why didn't Charge Beam work?!"
"Because Pawmot's ability is Volt Absorb." replied Lincoln. "So instead of electric attacks hurting him, they heal him and power him up." Mismagius begins to bulk up.
"Well Charge Beam also powers up the Pokemon that uses it!" said Iono.
"This battle is getting super awesome!" said Lincoln.
"You got that right!" said Iono.
"You know. There is a downside to turning a ghost type into an electric type." said Lincoln.
"And what's that?!" said Iono.
"I wouldn't be able to do this to it if it stayed a ghost type." said Lincoln. "Pawmot, Arm Thrust." Pawmot fights through his confusion and runs at Misamagius and strikes it with his palms multiple times, knocking it back.
"Mismagius, Hex!" said Iono. Mismagius forms a sphere of black energy with a glowing red eye in the middle. It launches it at Pawmot and hits him. Pawmot snaps out of his confusion.
"Pawmot, Bite!" said Lincoln. Pawmot leaps at Mismagius and bites it, making it flinch. "Now, Pawmot, Spark!" Pawmot becomes surrounded by electricity and rams Mismagius. Even though it didn't do a lot of damage to Mismagius thanks to it being an electric type right now, it was enough to dispel her Tera Form and knock her out.
"Mismagius is unable to battle. Pawmot is the winner. That means the winner of this gym battle is the challenger, Lincoln!" said the digital face.
"Yes! Way to go, Pawmot!" said Lincoln. Pawmot runs over to Lincoln and the two of them hug. With Iono, she returns Mismagius to her pokeball.
"You were awesome, Mismagius!" said Iono. She then looks over at Lincoln who looks back at her. "And you're as flashy and bright as a 10,000,000-volt Thunderbolt, cutie!" Iono then walks over to Lincoln and stands next to him and her Rotom Phone floats in front of them. "Our challenger came out victorious! Well done, Linky!"
"Thanks! You were awesome also!" said Lincoln. Everyone in the crowd cheered for both Iono and Lincoln.
"I hate to say it, but I lost! Thanks for cheerin' me on, anywho, my loyal fans!" said Iono. Her fans cheered for her in response. "Well then! What does our challenger get for beating me; the lean, mean, streamin' queen? I'll tell ya! Linky, you win...a Gym Badge! Woo-hoo!" She turns to Lincoln and hands him a gym badge with a lightning bolt on it. "And just for you, I'll throw in something else!"
"Something else? What is it?" asked Lincoln out of curiosity. Iono looks at him with a big smile on her face. A few seconds later on an island just off the east coast of the United States, Gramps and his passengers were sitting around a campfire, roasting hot dogs for dinner while drinking soda. Suddenly, Ronnie Anne squeezes her soda can hard, spraying the soda inside all over, getting Bobby and Clyde, who were sitting next to her, along with herself, wet.
"Hey! What did you do that for?!" asked Clyde. He then notices an angry scowl on Ronnie Anne's face. "Ronnie Anne? Are you okay?" Everyone else stared at her with concern.
"I don't know why, but I have the sudden urge to pound someone." said Ronnie Anne. The Loud sisters who were sitting closest to her scooted further away from her. "No, not you girls...not yet anyway. That depends on whether or not Lincoln is doing okay in Paldea. Anyway, let's just finish eating so we can get going." Later, back in Levincia at the Pokemon Center there, Lincoln was waiting for his Pokemon to be healed. While he was doing so, he was looking at a photo of him and Iono with a blush on his face. He was blushing because in the photo, Iono had his arms wrapped around him in a hug and she was kissing him on the cheek while he was blushing so hard his entire face was red. Also on the photo was a handwritten message from Iono that said Call me sometime, cutie!, along with her Rotom Phone number and contact information.
"Man, it's a good thing my sisters aren't here; they would go ballistic if they saw this." said Lincoln. He puts the photo away and heads over to the Pokemon Center's counter.
"Here are your Pokemon, Lincoln. They're all back to full health." said the nurse.
"Thank you, ma'am." said Lincoln. The sound of a large number of fast-moving approaching footsteps suddenly appeared. The nurse looks to her right and gasps at what she saw.
"You might want to run, Lincoln." said the nurse.
"Why?" asked Lincoln with a hint of confusion in his voice. The nurse points to her right. Lincoln looks to where the nurse was pointing. A look of dread appears on his face as he sees a horde of Iono fans stampeding towards him.
"There he is!" said one of the fans.
"What was it like to be kissed by THE Iono?!" asked a fan.
"Can I have her phone number, too?!" asked another fan.
"Are you two an official couple?!" asked another fan.
"Oh no, not again!" said Lincoln. Ever since the livestream showed Iono kissing Lincoln, Iono's fans were constantly hounding him. It took Lincoln a while to lose them and make it to the Pokemon Center to get his Pokemon treated after the Gym Battle. "I gotta get out of here!" Lincoln lets out Koraidon and he hops onto him. "Move it, Koraidon! Hurry!" Koraidon and Lincoln head out of Levincia as fast as Koraidon could.
