Chapter 12
"No good sitting worrying about it. What's coming will come, and we'll meet it when it does"- Hagrid
A week later, had the Winchesters moving into the house that Jamie owned in Waco, Texas. The house overlooked Waco lake, and had a long sloping drive. Due to the house being warded, and the fence being made of iron, and the ground lined with salt, the Winchesters felt safe there. In the front gate of the house, there was a silver pentagram, embedded into the iron. T he house was a muggle house, but the kitchen had been converted into a magical kitchen so that house elves could utilize it. John, Dean, and Sam all decided that Jamie would get the master bedroom, John would get the second biggest, and Dean and Sam would get the rooms that had a Jack and Jill bathroom.
The welcome mat had a demon trap drawn on the bottom of it, and the doorbell would shoot out holy water if there was pressure on the welcome mat for more than twenty seconds. Both of these things were Dean's idea, both of which were Dean's design. Sam had applied to Baylor university for online classes. Dean had gone into town, and gotten a job at a local mechanic shop, where he was expected to start the next week. John had also gotten a job, but his was a little bit more dangerous. He was going to be a government supported hunter during the summer. Dean and Sam were also going to be hunters for the government during the school year. John also found that someone had to be over sixteen in order to be a licensed hunter, so they would wait until Jamie was old enough for him to decide on his own.
So far the move into the house was going well, Jamie had also gotten in touch with the other houselves at the various houses he owned across the country, and got them to prepare the houses to be safe houses for his father and brothers, and Bobby. Living out of a house was better than living out of a motel. Jamie was so excited. After the Winchesters moved in, they all went to the beach that was on the property, so that they could still be inside the protective wards. Everyday early in the morning, Jamie and Dean would go down to the beach, and Dean would instruct Jamie, and teach him how to fight. Every afternoon, Jamie would do some reading, and help Sam learn magic.
Dean had taken up the job of keeping Sam and Jamie informed on what was happening with John and Bobby. Every couple of Days, John would call Dean and update him on what he was hunting. Every so often, Jamie was able to help his father figure out what he was hunting. For example, in the past day, John had not known that he was hunting a magical vampire. Once Jamie figured it out, he asked Dean to make sure that he told John about the weaknesses of a magical vamp. It could be killed by a silver knife, cutting its head off, and could be kept at bay by garlic.
"Hey Dean, Sam, may I enroll in Salem's Wizards institute of Magic?" Jamie asked his older brothers.
"I am sure that that is fine, as long as that school is safer than Hogwarts. If anything attacks you, then we are pulling you out, and you will do self study, you hear me?" Dean assured him.
"Of course, I know that, and I will write to you guys every week, using Hedwig, please don't worry. Nothing can be as dangerous as my first year at Hogwarts," Jamie assured his overprotective older brothers. Sam smiled as his younger brother, and ruffled his hair, while Dean walked out to the garage or work on keeping 'Baby' upkept.
Jamie followed Dean into the garage, and Dean started going through the parts of the Impala that broke the most frequently. During this little session, he also taught Jamie how to change the oil in a normal car, because Jamie had bought a normal car for when they were just around town, because as much as they all loved the Impala, it was a hunting vehicle, not an everyday car. One thing that Dean did change in the Impala was, he lined the bumper in the front with silver, and the one in the back with iron. That way all they had to do to get a ghost to dissolve was run into it with the Impala, this modification also made it so ghosts could not get into the car. The car that Jamie got for the brothers was still an Impala, but it was a 2002 Impala, versus a 1967. It did not look as cool, but it was more fuel efficient.
One thing that Jamie did was, Jamie bought a snake. It turned out that Jamie had the ability to talk to snakes, and some of the snakes that were sold at normal pet stores in America had magical properties. When Jamie first came home with his snake, Dean was terrified, but after a couple of days, Dean realized that having a snake came with a couple of perks, for example, they never had a bug or mouse problem at the house, because Monty the Python had free-reign over the house, and hunted pests. Also, snakes are generally clean animals, so Dean never had to clean up after the reptile. Another perk to having a snake, is that, with this being a magical snake, it had silver fangs, so it could protect Jamie if he ever needed help.
Jamie enrolled at Salem, and he got a list of what he would need, so he asked Dean if he could go get supplies for the coming school year. Dean just nodded and told Jamie that they would go and get supplies in two weeks. Jamie smiled at Dean, who, Jamie would never admit, was turning into his favorite sibling. Dean reminded Jamie of the Weasley twins, Fred and George. Sam reminded Jamie a bit of Hermione, because he always wanted to have a plan. Dean though, he made choices based on his feelings, not what he thought was best, much like Jamie himself.
