Chapter 72
The Return Home
It was a week later, the celebrations had been joyous despite all of the potential assassination attempts on the new Kings' lives. The reception was one that would be heard about for the ages and written in the Markovian records for generations to come. But as the old saying goes 'all things come to an end' and so, the Titans had to leave for home.
"I'm gonna miss you." Tara said as she hugged her brothers tightly
"We're gonna miss you too." Brion spoke, his hand bandaged and cast up.
"But we'll talk all the time over the phone." Gregor added, hugging back just as tight.
"Enjoy your honeymoon, bro." She answered. "Sorry... 'Your highness'." She teased.
Gregor chuckled and messed up Tara's hair because of that little joke. Though he was king right now, it didn't stop him from smiling.
"How's your hand?" Tara asked with a returning smile to her brother Brion.
"It'll heal. Black Adam's grip was worse than I thought." Brion answered.
"Speaking of, where is he?" Tara asked.
"Gone." Both answered.
"He left for Kahndaq." Gregor answered.
"And Cheshire?" She asked
"She killed a Markovian hero. She tried to assasinate the royal family. And tried to commit genocide." Gregor sighed "She has been taken by the UN, for trial."
"Considering everything that's happened... I guess that makes the most sense." Tara sighed heavily.
"I hope she is killed." Brione hissed quietly
"Brother, please." Gregor sighed.
"I understand; at worst she'll have life without parole considering all the assassinations she has committed." Tara frowned. "But she IS a mother. A mother who loves her daughter."
"That might get her some leniency. But it'll be up to the juries and the judge." Brion answered.
"Brion. Please." Tara frowned.
"Whatever." Brion scoffed
"Is everyone ready to head home?" Gregor asked, trying to keep things light.
"Yes, we're all packed up." Tara nodded.
"I'm sensing a 'but', coming." Gregor frowned.
"But... Lian and James have taken it hard. Considering everything." Tara sighed.
*Elsewhere*
"What a week." Sarah sighed and rubbed her eyes from the warm weather.
"I know what you mean. It's been another week of us being heroes." Victor nodded, while Scarlet was snoozing on the bed.
"Well, we are gonna have a relaxing trip back." He smiled
"I hope so. I'll probably sleep during that week." Sarah chuckled. "Probably get a nice tan from it too."
"You've already got a nice tan." Victor chuckled.
"I know, I'm just teasing." Sarah answered. "So... A priest and Titan."
Victor nodded at his girlfriend at that. "Yep, don't think I'll let this go to my head."
"Oh, I know." She teased and poked his chest. "Doesn't mean we can't have some fun."
In another room, Dick and Duela were sitting together as they were mentally exhausted from their week of celebrations.
"How're you feeling?" Dick asked as he held her hand while she leaned on him.
"Heavy... Big... Exhausted." Duela yawned as she leaned on her fiancee
Dick held her close and agreed. "It's been a rough few days. Considering the travel and stress here."
'Dick... I've been thinking.' Duela whispered in her mind, her voice not articulating because of her concerns.
"Is there anything you want to do on the cruise back?" He asked, looking at her from above.
"... Be a good mother." she admitted, proudly
"You're going to be a great mother." Dick commented.
"You're sweet to say that." She answered. "I'd like to be that."
"You have me, Bruce, Harleen, Alfred; All of us. You've got a family with you." Dick reassured her.
"I guess it does take a village." Duela responded with a chuckle, before eyeing his muscles.
"What's the matter?" He asked before she stroked his chest. "Oh, I see."
"Come on, daddy~. You know what I like." She smirked.
Dick sighed, rolling his eyes and soon showed off his abs to his pregnant lover. "Alright, but you owe me one for later." He answered.
"You love it and you know it." She smirked and kissed along his abs playfully.
*With the others*
Most of the remaining Titans had already packed up and were having one last snack and drink in a local bar and restaurant, each ready to head back soon when the cruise liner comes in.
"Ah~, much better." Static sighed as he had a chilled cola and sat with his friends.
"After all that. I still can't believe it." Danny added. "We rode in a dinosaur tank alien."
"It was one of the fastest ways to get around." Garth answered in agreement.
"Aside from all the crazy stuff that's happened. It's been a good wedding and holiday. I just hope back home isn't a wreck." Jaime commented.
"Yeah. I miss our tower." Wonder Girl nodded
"Well, I'm sure we'll be able to head back soon." Connor answered, taking a bite out of a burger.
"Good to see that your appetite hasn't left." Tim chuckled as he looked at his friend.
"... Sorry, is this rude?" Connor asked.
"Nah, it's fine." Holly smirked tapping his shoulder.
"Does anyone want anything else?" Dawn asked. "I'm on a drinks run."
"No thanks, any more and I'll burst." Garth responded.
"Has anyone heard from James?" Bleez asked solemnly, downing a drink.
"He's a bit holed up." Jay admitted.
*With the Tennyson Family*
"There, all packed up and ready to go." Kom spoke as she zipped up the bags and had a few souvenirs on hand.
"What a week." Raven commented as she sat on the bed. "... James is still wounded."
"I understand. I know what Cheshire did was devastating, and there were reasons..." Kori added, carrying the babies.
"Doesn't make it right though." Kom frowned, before waving it away. "We can't be like this. Not on the way back home. We've got to be strong for James and the kids."
"Agreed." Raven nodded, taking Beatriz and kissing her gently on the head.
The kids giggled as they saw this, hugging Raven like they were her own children and making her blush. "Hmm! This is too wholesome!" Kori squeed, while Kom got out her camera and took a picture.
"You better not-" Raven grumbled.
"Family photos, Rachel. Family photos~." Kom 'shook' the camera and smirked.
"Me next, me next!" Kori asked, as she went over and was given the kids; who all waved at their mother with the camera.
"Alright, alright. Smile." Kom motioned her hand and aimed the camera at them, showing the five of them sitting together. "There; how's this?"
"Perfect." Kori smiled and kissed her sister on the cheek.
*With Garfield*
Garfield was currently a gorilla as he was closing large cases that were filled with holiday clothes for his family. One thing about having a harem of beautiful women was to look after them and getting gifts when your invite to a kingdom doesn't have a 'plus fifty' on it. "Phew! Okay... That's the clothes for Summer, the girls... the kids... thank god I had enough change from the business." He muttered to himself.

"Come in." Garfield spoke.
"Sorry, are we interrupt-whoa!" Hank and Kimiyo entered and then saw the piles of clothing in bags.
"... I thought I had a clothing problem." Kimiyo quipped.
"It's for...For my family." He explained. "They couldn't come and-"
"We get it. A lots happened. Though, they're probably safe right?" Hank asked.
"Oh yeah, they're safe. We've talked all week... though the time difference is bad for the kids. Trying to stay awake to see me." Garfield explained.
"Yeah, there's like...eight? Ten hour time difference?" Hank commented.
"I can see why you'd want to call them." Kimiyo added. "You're a good dad."
"Thanks, I'm doing my best." Garfield answered.
"How many kids do you have?" Kimiyo asked.
"Ah!" Garfield exclaimed and smiled, grabbing a... we want to say 'wallet' but at this point, it had upgraded to 'portable family album'. As he opened the book and showed off his pride and joy. "Where do I start?"
*With James*
James was with the three Harper's at a Markovian holding facility.
"Forgive us, Mr Tennyson. But she is not to be without guards and locked up at all times." A guard apologised, knowing that this was a strained moment.
"I know, it's alright." James answered understanding as he stood with Roy, Donna and Lian.
Jade, no longer Cheshire, was dressed in orange prison garb, she had no strength left to resist nor did she care to escape. She knew what was going to happen and she wouldn't go on the run to live another day. She was devastated by what she had almost done.
"Jade." Roy spoke as he looked at her with contempt in his eyes.
"We're leaving today. Though you'll be held by the kingdom, your crimes in the US are still accountable." Donna commented.
"..." Jade mumbled something, but they couldn't hear it.
"Mummy?" Lian spoke as she looked at her birth mother. "Why did you do it?"
Jade looked at Lian with bloodshot eyes from crying. "To... to protect... you."
The adults there looked at Jade in confusion. "What do you mean?"
"Savage. He had pictures. Of Lian in the park. With you. He-." Jade choked on her words as she knew what he could've done.
"Had Black Adam." Roy realised what it meant.
"I didn't know he had... Adam." She admitted "But it was clear. I did... Did my best to keep you secret baby. Keep you safe. And when he revealed he knew... I... I... I didn't have a choice."
"And we can't question him 'cause..." James admitted. "We'll figure something out. Okay?"
"Figure what out? I deserve this." She shrugged
"Maybe." Donna responded, sounding harsher than intended.
"But... you're good. Right?" Lian frowned, looking at Jade.
"Good?" Jade asked
"You're a good person?" Lian asked, trying to be clear. "You visit me all the time."
"... Mama isn't a good person, Lian." Jade commented with a small, sad, smile "But she loves you. And wants you live the best life you can."
...
"Just because you do bad things doesn't mean your a bad person, Mama." Lian commented
Roy covered his mouth as he heard that. Lian was too precious with this. The innocence that she had... It was just too wholesome and pure. But it also showed the wisdom such innocence held.
"Maybe we can talk to a judge or something... maybe stay off the death penalty or something." Donna suggested.
"What happens... Happens." She shrugged
Lian wanted to hug her mother but immediately went to her father. "Don't let mummy die."
"I promise baby." Roy mumbled
"Lian?" Jade asked, putting a hand on the glass "Lian, baby?"
"Mummy." Lian looked at her and reached to touch the glass and look into Jade's eyes.
"No matter what happens, Mama loves you. And she wants you to live your life, your best life. Be happy." She smiled
"I-I promise." Lian's eyes began to water as she heard those words and wanted to hug her.
"I'm sorry, but you will have to leave now." The guards politely asked the heroes and Lian.
"Lian, come on baby." Roy spoke as he didn't want to break them up.
"... Bye-bye Mama, I love you." Lian said, blowing a kiss
Jade reached out and caught the kiss, holding it close to her heart as she blew her own to her daughter. One last good memory before she wouldn't see them again.
Until the trial. Until what chosses the rest of her life.
Because she wasn't running from this. She COULD.
Escape would be easy.
But she nearly commited a genocide.

It was time for the Cheshire to be put down like the rabbit cat it had became.
As they walked outside, both James and Roy took a deep as they knew that Jade had fucked up... And honestly it was hard for them.
"Are you okay?" Donna asked gently.
"I'll... I'll be alright." Roy strained his voice. He was trying to be strong for Lian and not cry, though he and James wanted to.
"It's okay to cry... You said that right?" Lian asked as she spoke to both James and her father.
"Ah-ha..." James choke-laughed and wiped his tears. "Yeah. Yeah, we... we did."
"How're you so smart?" Roy asked, tearing up as he hugged Lian and Donna.
"I had you." The young girl smiled. Donna looked at Roy and hugged back, leaving James out of the loop.
But it seemed that he didn't mind, this was their moment. 'We should head back, the boat is probably going to leave soon.' He thought. He raised his Matrix, fiddling with it for a moment
"Are you looking for something?" Roy asked.
"Yeah, boats leaving." James stated as he transformed
"Speedster alien." Roy nodded.
"WingSpeed?" Lian asked, wondering if he'll choose that one.
"Sure, sweetpea." In a flash of yellow, James transformed into his newest speed form, the fleet-footed bird-humanoid WingSpeed. "Okayherewego!" He spoke quickly.
"I'm sorry? Did you-?" Donna asked before she, Roy and Lian were picked up and rushed out to the castle to pick up their bags.
"Whoa, hurp! Hmm! No. I'm. Hmm! Good, I'm good." Roy grunted as he didn't know if he would throw up. 'Darn it... It's like Wally all over again.' he thought
"Sorryareyouokay?" James apologised.
"Again, again!" Lian clapped her hands playfully.
"No, not again." Donna frowned, waving her hand
"Oh." Lian frowned as she was put down by her father.
"Hoo... That's better." Roy sighed as his stomach settled. "This has been a while."
BWOOM!
"Sorry, I didn't want to waste time." James apologised again. "I'm... I better-"
"It's alright, we get it." Donna responded as they entered the cruise ship
The group soon arrived in the cruise, the ship minutes from departing
Each of the heroes were waving goodbye to the Royal Family and the hosts of the kingdom for their invitations to the wedding and parties.
The cruise began to slip away, drifting into the sea
"Are you feeling better?" Kori asked James.
"Yeah. Yeah, I'm good." He nodded as he gave her a kiss "It's going to change a lot more when we get home."
"When has that ever stopped us?" Kori chuckled.
"Right." He nodded with a smile "Let's enjoy the cruise."
"Can you sun-lotion our backs?" Kori asked.
"Oh, you're just being a flirt." He chuckled and took the sun-lotion bottle from her playfully.
"And you love it." She responded as she lead him away.

We see Raven on a sun-lounger while holding a book, picking up where she left off. She wore a lose black dress with an oversized sunhat and sunglasses, a rather high class look 'Finally. I can end this book.' She thought as she relaxed and began to read, though the thoughts of home came into her mind. Going back home and back to their lives as heroes.
"Hey, Rachel." Dawn spoke politely as she approached her and sat down.
"Dawn. How're you doing?" Rachel asked.
"Fine. Just... thinking. Holly's currently sleeping in because of lunch." Dawn chuckled.
"Heh... you two are something else." Rachel smirked gently.
"Are we?" She asked calmly
"In my opinion, you two are good sisters. You remind me of Kori and Kom." She answered. "Both complimenting each other."
"Really? You think so?" She smiled weakly
"Yes. You may be opposites, but you're both needed." She answered as she read her book. "Besides... you two are both fun for James."
"Thank you, Raven. That means a lot." Dawn responded.
"Not at all. Besides, it's -your turn- on the calendar when we get back." Raven smirked as she continued to read her book.
"I-I'm sorry?" Dawn blushed.
"James has a calendar. He's a very attentive lover." She explained, her nose in her book.

At the other end of the boat, other members of the Titans were sleeping their lunches off.
"Zzz... Zzz... Zzz..." Thad, Bart and Cass snored gently as they were exhausted and sat next to Jay and Joan.
"That's adorable." Joan chuckled as she saw the three sleeping so soundly.
"Yeah." He smiled
"It's going to be a fun time when we get back." Jay commented.
"Why?" Joan asked
"Just those three will try and 'hide while we're at home'." Jay chuckled. "Trying to sneak out or have Cassandra sneak in."
"Well the cruise will take a full day. I'm sure they'll do something while we are at sea." She joked
"Between sleeping, swimming and sunbathing; there's quite a bit." Jay smirked as the old couple walked away
Connor, Cassie and Tim were all together in the pool, with the older two taking it easy while Tim was trying to go for four lengths.
"I can do it." he muttered
"Come on, Tim! You've got this!" Cassie called out.
"Kick those legs, Tim!" Connor cheered.
"I'm. Almost. There!" Tim gasped as he finished swimming, panting heavily as he was exhausted from training his muscles.
"There." He muttered
"Hey, congrats, Tim. You did great." Cassie spoke helping him to stand in the water.
"Good job!" Connor gave a thumbs up.
"Tha-thank you." Tim panted. "Urgh... my muscles are on fire."
"Well, you are still growing." Conner smirked
"I'm sure you're going to grow into a fine man." Cassie added.
"Yeah... maybe something like Dick." Tim thought "Your next line will be, that's what she said."
"That's what she said." Conner joked... Before looking at Tim in shock "What the hell?!"
"Hehe!" Tim smirked
"Fancy a drink? You must be thirsty." Cassie asked.
"Thank you." Tim nodded as they aimed to get out of the pool.
"How did he do that? How smart IS he?" Conner asked, a bit creeped out
"Tim's intelligent for his age. And considering his family, it's no wonder." Cassie answered.

At another side of the boat, Jaime, Kyle and Courtney were together and relaxing, though it was a little awkward since she was between the two of them on a sun-lounger.

'Oh man, that bikini!' Both Jaime and Kyle thought as both tried to cover up their boners for her.
"You two okay?" She asked
"Um, yeah. Yeah, we're good." Kyle used his ring to make some thick shorts.
"Nothing wrong here." Jaime added, using Khaji-Da's suit to help cover himself up.

"Nope. Nope. I'm chill, super chill." Jaime chuckled awkwardly.

"Of course. It was honestly good doing something like that." Kimiyo responded.
"Can I say something stupid?" Hank asked.
"Sure, what is it?" Kimiyo responded.
"Tank-frigging-Ceratops. How is that not the coolest thing in the world?" Hank commented.
"Snrt!" Kimiyo snorted from laughter as she saw how joyful Hank was getting. "Boys and their big toys."

"I brought it up because bread fills you up." She winked
"You dang minx! Why didn't you warn me?" Jinx asked, leaving the bread.
"I did warn you." Karen chuckled.
"Telling me just now doesn't count!" She answered before she turned and grabbed different food. "Y'know, you've gotten cockier. Not a bad thing though."
"I've just... We've been through a lot this past week. Facing Black Adam and such." Karen explained as she gave her neck a few kisses
"Kare~n~." Jinx melted a little as she felt these. "You know we're going to continue this back at the Tower."
"Of course."
'Good, because you know I'm going to enjoy this.' Jinx thought with a devilish grin.
"Hey, want to go back to the room?" Karen whispered, getting close to Jinx's ear.
"I'm still eating." Jinx pouted playfully.

We go and see James sitting with his children, spending time with them as he wanted comfort. And they gave the best hugs. It was a few hours into the cruise as he just held his three sleeping babes 'I love you three.' He thought as he embraced his children, letting them rest of his chest.

"Come in." He whispered just loud enough not to wake his kids as the door opened.
In walked Rose and Megan, the two clearly trying to be quiet Megan and Rose held hands, giving James telepathic messages. 'Are you alright?' Megan asked
'We didn't want to intrude.' Rose added.
'No, you're not.' He responded with a gentle smile. 'Are you two okay?' He asked
'James, we know that you're conflicted right now.' Rose spoke back, knowing how emotional James can get. Especially with his girlfriends.
'Its not that.' he sighed 'I'm more... More hurt she didn't call for help.'
The two walked over and sat next to him. 'I'm sure that Jade had her reasons. I'm not making excuses for her, but she knew how dangerous Savage was. And how much she cared for both you and Lian.' Rose thought.
'I know. But I just... feel like she didn't trust me. Am I unreliable?'
'No, I do not think that.' Megan answered. 'Jade has been alone for a long time and could only rely on herself.'
'Sort of like me.' Rose added
'Then... we'll get through to her. In time.'- James understood.
'Exactly.' Both women nodded as they joined him on the bed
'This is nice.' Rose thought.
'That's my line.' James chuckled as they got in close and snuggled, each one taking a baby before falling to sleep. He needed a nap after all
*Time skip, elsewhere*
"Here, Prof. I got ya a drink." Ronnie spoke, wearing a shirt and shorts as he walked towards the respectfully dressed Professor Stein.
"Ah, thank you, Ronald." He responded. "You did not get anything alcoholic, did you?"
"No! I didn't bring my wallet so I could only get water or soft drinks." He answered. "... Lemonade or water?"
"I'll take the water, please." Professor Stein responded politely.
"Here." Ronnie sighed as he passed the drink. "Y'know. We kicked ass back in Markovia."
"Yes, we did rather well. Quick thinking with that pumpkin switch." Professor Stein added.
"Nah, I had a good teacher." Ronnie stretched and relaxed, sipping his drink.

"Gah!" Ronnie screamed as he was spooked by that sudden 'BOO!' Standing behind them was Mia, Speedy, who was laughing "Dang it, Mia! I just bought this drink!" He snapped at her, though she was now speeding off.
"Later boys!" She called playfully
"I-You! I'm gonna get you, Mia!" Ronnie chased after her.
Professor Stein chuckled and brushed off the water that he had spilt on himself, seeing them as his students having fun.

"Are-Are we really doing this?" Thad asked as he followed Bart and Cass
"Yeah!" Bart laughed "Totally!"
"Need privacy." Cass responded, jumping up and running on the wall as she rounded a corner before landing in a roll and continuing her sprinting
"Jeez, your footprints are going to scuff the walls, Cass!" Thad pointed out as they ran to their private location.
"They'll be doing more than that later!" Bart laughed
Cass continued to laugh as they ran. Until...until...!
They reached it.

"We are gonna have SO much fun!" Cass cheered as she turned to the two boys and winked

"It'll be fine. Cass is real good and it's gonna be fun as hell, trust me." Bart encouraged

"Exactly, with everything that's happened and with how I am... It's my choice to leave being a hero." Duela answered. "Besides, with my knee issues and the focus the baby needs? Probably best for me."

"So, our team goes down by one." Victor commented.

Duela looked around and chuckled, nodding at that comment. "Careful, your highness. Your commoner is showing."
"What?" Tara looked down at herself, knowing it was just banter and laughed making the gathered group laugh harder
"Are you sure you're gonna be alright giving up being a hero?" Dick asked before Duela kissed him.
"I'll be a hero in other ways." She smiled "And I'll still be there to support you. Who knows, I might suit up again when Terry is old enough."
"That would be nice." Dick answered.

"What a wedding." Dinah sighed as she relaxed in a black bikini next to Shayera.
"What a week you should say." Shayera answered, wearing a wave patterned one-piece swimsuit.

"Really?" She asked and went to the bio-metic plate.

Lian giggled and reached the plate, patting her hand on the front hoping it would scan.

Welcome, Lian. The tower's security spoke out as the shutters opened.
"AAAAHHHH!" she gasped in shock

The shutters and defences opened up, revealing the glass windows of the tower awaiting their arrival.
