PROLOGUE part 2 - Just another day in the job
AD 2015 FEBRUARY 14
15 YEARS AFTER THE SECOND IMPACT

8 months have passed since the death of Katsuhiro Ikari in 2014 . After his death Shinji started working for Kichirou as a Delivery driver . Also to get some more money Shinji used his skill as a mechanic to work not only to help Kaneda and the gang but also other bikers , both gang members and street racers . Even if he was associated with The Capsules, Shinji's workshop was a demilitarized zone . except for the Clowns that were a pain in the ass for both the gangs and Yakuza families . Kichirou were the dominant force in Tsukijicho 2 so Shinji had not to worry for an attack of the Clowns . The workshop that Shinji spent half of his childhood in was in a warehouse that was pretty clean for its original task . It was splitted in half into two halves . One that was for the clients that looked like an office with chairs for waiting people , a few arcade machines and some decals of automotive logos . Also it included a display with parts for order, including his favorite that displayed N2O kits. The second part was Shinji's favorite , the workshop part . It was impressive that Shinji could keep it as clean as the office . It was the largest part of the warehouse, as white as it could be . It had a storeroom of parts on the back , a 3D printer , a paint chamber , a car jack and a desk that had some things that Katsuhiro left him . including a company computer and box witch contained Katsuhiro's trophies from his racing days and his second hobby . A box full of patches that he made over the years . including a few for Shinji for him to use on his jacket . including a cross of Shinji's insignia with The Capsules logo . Even Kaneda's pill patch was made by him . Shinji on the other hand was pretty tired . pretty would be a really big understatement . Shinji was working for 8 hours straight on Kaneda's bike . a night ago himself Kaneda and Tetsuo participated in a street race . Aside from battles the Gangs also met for street races that were handled by the Yakuza , alongside some freelancers that raced alone or in teams . Kaneda had an electricity failure and broke his gearbox which resulted in him hitting the wall which totaled the body work . Shinji took the bike the same night to the workshop to analyze the damage . After finishing school Shinji drove straight to the workshop and began his magic . After printing out and installing new body parts . Shinji checked the battery. Just as he expected the battery was broken and couldn't handle all the energy that his bike needed . So he took a BMW battery from the storeroom and put it instead of the old one . After that he had to check the worst that he had left for the last . The gearbox was shattered and it had to take the best out of Shinji's skill to fix it . Thank the gods that he had too many Yamaha R1 parts so he did not have to order parts. After 8 long hours of work he was finally done .
'Fucking finally'- Shinji thought as he sat on a chair before litting a ciggarete and drinking a nearest can of soda he could find . He checked the calendar and remembered what day it was .
"Valentines Day" -Shinji said. Since Shinji was single he did not celebrate , aside from chocolate he got from girls that he did not even eat half the time , he mostly gave chocolate to the guys or to the foster homes . . Same with the love letters , it was nothing new for him since he always had so many of them he had to bring trash bags to school with him . But on Valentine's day he had triple the letters . But when he checked the desk , it was a surprise he got for Kaneda and Tetsuo , since they both were the only ones that had real girlfriends that weren't clinging to them because of the bikes . 4 tickets to the most prestigious and most expensive nightclub in Neogoya , The Kenbōshō . It was named like that because of an urban legend that if you couldn't control yourself there you would wake up in a whole different part of the city with a biiiiiig hangover and probably missing your wallet and phone . Then a shiver ran on his back when he heard knocking on the door . If this was the cops he would be in serious trouble . They could can him for anything : Illegal parts ,working on stolen bikes , making fake license plates and registration evidences . changing the numbers on the engine . until a familiar voice came behind the gate .
"Shin ! , Its us ! open up !"- Kaneda said as he keeped knocking on the gate.
'Oh thank god it's just Kaneda.'- Shinji thought as he ran to the gate panel to open it up
Kaneda was sitting on the back of Tetsuo's bike as he jumped off to high five Shinji .
"You're okay Shin ? , you look pretty worn out"- Tetsuo said as Shinji looked like he barely was holding on his legs
"8 hours of work , thanks to who ?" - Shinji said sarcastically as he looked on Kaneda
"Hey , it was because of a failure of the electricity system that you installed !" - Kaneda said as he looked at Shinji with an accusing look . Shinji has put on his trademark smirk
"And what about tearing the gearbox to shreds ?"- Shinji said with a less accusing but still sarcastic tone as Kaneda's face lost most of the color. Shinji let out a chuckle .
"Well that's not important , You wanna see your bike right ?" It may have taken 8 hours but i believe it was worth it"- Shinji said as they walked into the warehouse .
As they walked in they saw Kaneda's bike , the owner's face looked like a mix between shock and disbelief .
" Damn if i wasn't the owner i wouldn't know it had been totaled , Shinji you're a genius , literally the Carrol Shelby of motorcycles"- Kaneda said as he got on his bike and pressed the ignition button and felt that the beast was working again . Shinji could feel some pride that his work has actually paid off.
"I installed a new battery so it should keep the electronics intact . Also shift when you're above 5000 rpms''- Shinji instructed him since he definitely wouldn't want his beloved project getting totaled again.
"So how much ?" -Kaneda asked since in contrast to Shinji he was pretty short on money. After the second impact fuel became so expensive that Car companies started making conversion kits for cars to electric. While motorcycle owners had still to rely on fossil fuels
"30 000 yen and we got ourselves a deal" - Shinji said as he reached his hand to Kaneda
Kaneda sighed and simply gave Shinji the 30 000 in bills and shaked hands.
"Thanks and I also got something special for both of you"- Shinji said as he handed out tickets. To say that the boys we're shocked would be an understatement of a century.
"B-but how ?! How did you get tickets to Kenbōshō ?"- Tetsuo asked with both a bit of shock and surprise
"Let's just say that i pulled my strings"- Shinji said with his straightforward attitude
"So the tickets are for our Two Kei and Kaori right ?" - Kaneda asked
"That is correct, I'm single and have no need to go partying . I also have my second job tonight"- Shinji explained the lack of a fifth ticket .
"You know that you could also find a girlfriend right ? Your living alone for 8 months , you should have a company"- Tetsuo said as he knew that he was completely isolated from the world
"Shin , Tetsuo is right . You need company or your psyche will come tumbling down . Or it will get you killed "- Kaneda added as he joined the argument .
Shinji on the other hand never really cared about being alone . If he wanted to meet someone she would have to assert dominance , someone that can actually get him going . Someone that was just like him . ,,An adult in a child's body" .
"You know what my type of woman is , and it's pretty impossible to find someone like that here"-Shinji said as he sighed and started cleaning the shop.
The duo just exchanged looks and then looked at Shinji .
"You know that probably you won't find a girl like that in this city , probably in the whole country" - Tetsuo said as he gave Shinji a pitiful look .
They stood there for like 10 minutes after Kaneda decided to cut the awkward silence.
-Well we better get going Tetsuo , we need to get the girls- Kaneda said as he ignited his bike.
-Yeah , see you after the weekend, Shin - Tetsuo said as they drove off into the night .
Few hours later Shinji finally finished cleaning the workshop. He was finally ready to go home , until his phone called. after around 30 seconds of call he responded
-Yes , i'll be there- Shinji said as he took the canvas of his bike revealing the thing that Shinji was most proud of. As he closed the gate he put the earphones of his SDAT as the track #3 started playing

Shinji drove his bike as he left the highway and got to the main part of the city to the Kichirou HQ. He showed his protection card as he entered the back of a restaurant . Then a man came to him with packages and a list of addresses . Shinji put the packages into his backpack as he drove away. An hour or two passed as Shinji had the last package to deliver . He got into the rural part of the ghetto as he got off the bike . And Shinji came knocking on the door . As he saw a man reaching out of the door . alongside some bodyguards both hidden and standing in front of the door .
"Thanks kid , now get out of here"-Said the man as he wanted to close the door the engine sounds of rival Yakuza bikers .
"OH SHIT !" - As the man closed the door . Shinji wanted to run but it was too late as two bikes with gunners equipped with submachine guns started a drive-by as bodyguards started shooting . Shinji sprinted straight to his bike as he filled a fast injection of pain in his stomach . That could only mean one thing , He got shot. Shinji knew that he needed to be fast as he ignited his bike . Around 5 minutes later Shinji, after going almost 250 km/h, finally reached his apartment . After parking his bike and going into the elevator and a long ride to his floor Shinji crawled into his apartment and sat on the couch . Shinji could feel him flying away . He let out a small chuckle as he lit up a cigarette.
'So that's really it huh ?'-Shinji thought as he heard familiar voices behind the wall
''So he really gave you tickets to the best club in the city ?"
''Yep , Shin is a great friend . but i'm still worried about him''
''How long has it been 8 months ? Poor Shinji , he lives alone and is pretty isolated from people except us''
''That's why we came to visit him , i just hope that he's all right"
"Awww its cute when you show empathy"
"STOP IT! Shin is our friend since childhood and after Takuro we can't lose another close friend''
''I was just joking"
And then Shinji heard a knock on the door
"Shin , its Kaneda "- Kaneda said as he knocked in the door
Shinji used his strength to let out a single -open-
"Hey Shin we decided to come in and say thank y-HOLY FUCK !"- Kaneda screamed as he saw Shinji bleeding out on the couch
"Shinji what the hell happened !?"- Asked a feminine voice behind Tetsuo . That was Kaori , another of Shinji's childhood friends and Tetsuo's girlfriend
"He's gonna bleed out ! quickly Kaneda get the first aid kit !"- That was another feminine voice . if Shinji could recognise the proper voice pattern it was probably Kei. Kaneda's girlfriend and a child soldier of one of the seperatist groops WILLE. After her and Kaneda became a couple she was let into their comfort group of friends. That was the last thing Shinji heard before passing out .
Shinji woke up 4 or 5 hours later and he noticed a few figures sitting in his apartment. Shinji forgot what even happened . There was only one thing he needed for sure , he needed a smoke.
"He woke up !"-Kaneda said as he walked up to Shinji and pulled him into a bear hug
"Ummm can you let go of me ? " - Shinji said as Kaneda was still holding him.
"Ah yeah sorry " - Kaneda said as he letted go of Shinji
"Yeah so HOW THE HELL DID YOU ENDED UP WITH A BULLET IN THE STOMACH !?''- Tetsuo screamed
"Can you all shut up !? I just removed a bullet from his body , he needs to heal up" - Said Kei as she was trying to put them in order .
Shinji took a Cigarette and lit it up .
"It was just another day at work " - Shinji said while touching his wound .
'I hope that it won't be a scar'
"Just another day ?! You almost got yourself killed !"- Said Kaori with an accusing tone
"we're just glad that your still alive, I removed the bullet and the wound should be scarless" - Said Kei as they were preparing to leave
"Yeah and thanks for saving my life , I also believe that I need to take a weekend off"- Shinji said as his kinda ,,Family" was on the doorsill.
"So see you after the weekend !" - Kaneda said as Shinji closed the door
'Okay now dinner' - Shinji thought as he opened the fridge , and he saw nothing but a few soda cans and instant ramen . He forgot that he was supposed to get groceries but the 7-11 was closed .
'It's better than nothing I guess' - Said Shinji as he made himself a Ramen cup and took a cold soda out of the fridge . after 15 minutes and a quick shower Shinji was finally in bed with no other thoughts except 'I could die today' and 'damn I have such good friends' as he drifted off to slumber .
A/N : So this was the second chapter of the prologue . After this we're wrapping this prequel arc and in chapter 4 Shinji finally gets into the robot. Sorry for less action in this chapter . This chapter was supposed to be about Shinji's relationships with Kaneda Tetsuo Kaori and Kei and his ,,Mundane'' life he had after the death of Katsuhiro Ikari . The next chapter should be around in 4-5 days out . And just for that Tetsuo rides a 1993 Suzuki GSXR1100
