Angel: You guys remember when I said at the beginning that this incarnation of Amy Smith is different for reasons I couldn't explain? Yeeeeeah, ummm, this episode might be hard to read for some people. So I do have to give a warning, because the subject matter is definitely not for everyone, and if you're not okay with it, you don't have to continue reading. Especially since there is a not-so-nice word put in here towards the end. I'm also not sure if I portrayed the issue accurately because…how do I wanna put this? Because I'm not like Amy in this story, and I don't know anyone like her, so yeah, there's that. Hopefully this episode isn't too hard to stomach for most people…
Dr. Wakeman has a determined look in her eyes, everything blue as she's driving a vehicle straight forward. "There's the marker. Final destination coming into visual range. XJ9, we are apprrroaching ground zero," She glances behind her back as Jenny is preparing a backpack.
"Just securing my equipment," The robot reports back to her mother while loading supplies.
"This could be your toughest challenge ever. A constant test of your abilities, the pressure to perform could become unbearable." Jenny glances back at her with a small frown. "There's no dishonor should you decide to back out."
Jenny determinedly places her backpack on her. "Mama didn't raise no chickens! Ready to deploy," She gives a thumbs up.
"On my mark. Depressurizing cabin in five, four, three, two, one," She moves the lever and Jenny has to cover her eyes at the light appearing in front of her from the outside. "Go, go, go!"
Jenny jumps out of the van, landing after flipping...and she looks up ahead to a high school. All the teenagers are standing outside, talking to each other. "No hostile movements," She glances around as no one has seen her yet. "Now's my chance to blend in."
Dr. Wakeman honks from her driver's seat, waving to Jenny, who looks dismayed to say the least. "Okay, bye-bye, sweetie! Have a good first day!" She drives off and Jenny looks up ahead as everyone had seen and heard her. They start laughing at Jenny, who looks annoyed.
"2.75 seconds into the new school year. My mom's already made me a laughingstock..." She grumbles as she walks towards the building.
She carries around a magazine to help guide her as she walks down the hallway. "Recovering from public humiliation in ten easy steps," She reads, Brad walking next to her.
"Wow, school hasn't even started, and you're already studying? You robots are hard core!" He comments and they come to a stop.
"All the magazines agree: success in high school equals popularity. And the key to popularity is to get in with the 'in' crowd," She reads from the magazine.
"You know, Jen, I enjoy a certain degree of popularity," Brad starts off to her.
"Uh huh," She responds dismissively, not paying attention to what he's saying.
"But not all popular kids are so cool. Or make the best friends," She looks at a picture of two girls from the fall fashion line, moving it down to see two people dressed just like the ones in the photo, and they were surrounded by other girls. Jenny scans their make-up, clothes, shoes, and hair. She then gets a popularity rating of 100 percent. She beams and walks right past her friend. "In fact, some of the most popular kids are the nastiest." He looks to the side to see where she's headed. "Perfect example: the Crust Cousins."
Jenny bumps into the other girls, knocking them all away and leaving her alone with the duo. They have a brief moment of shock upon seeing her. "What is up, homeslices?" She asks in a stilted way, since she's never talked to popular girls—though, truth be told, she has no idea if Amy is even popular, so she might count. "My name is Jenny," She grabs the shorter one's hand and shakes it, shaking the girl in the process. "I've been doing some calculations and have concluded that it would be totally phat if after a day of serious study, we could hang out, kick it, and chill," She points a finger gun at them. "And do our homework together!" She clasps her hands hopefully.
The duo...don't look that excited at this, staring at her silently for a few seconds. "Yes, that sounds very...dope," The taller one glances away. "But unfortunately, our...study group is all full up," She smirks, hands on her hips as Jenny frowns. "Right, Tiff?"
"Uhh...yeah. Yeah, that's right, Brit," Tiff, the shorter one, replies with a smile. "Totally full up."
The other two girls agree with them, wanting nothing to do with Jenny. "But we'll call you the minute we get an opening," Brit states as they leave her behind in the hallway.
"Okay," Jenny smiles and waves at them, not understanding that it would never happen. "I'll wait for your call—homegirls!"
"We must remember to call her," Brit remarks to her cousin. "When we have room for a full metal loser." Tiff cackles at her statement.
"Girl, stop it."
"Jenny," Brad frowns at his robotic friend. "You don't need to suck up to Brit and Tiff to be popular. Just lighten up! Be yourself."
"Be myself?" She smiles, gripping her locker. "But I wanna fit in!" She then pulls off the door with her strength.
"Uhh...if you really wanna fit in, next time, try unlocking your locker. But hey," He hits her arm gently. "Don't stress out about it. I'm sure the rest of your day will be smooth sailing. Besides, I hear that the student tour guide is on their way to help you out for the week!"
"Oh, cool, I get to make a new friend!" Jenny smiles hopefully and Brad is about to leave when his smile drops.
"Oh no..." He sees who exactly is the guide for Jenny, and he's not looking too happy about it...
"Hi!" Amy, the same girl Jenny has been seeing and relatively talking to, walks up to her from down the hall. She waves as she's holding a binder, looking at a paper that she's holding. "Jenny, right?"
"Yes!" Jenny cheers, clasping her hands together with a happy smile, not noticing the looks that Amy's getting from Brad and other students. "I remember you, you live across from my house! Nice to properly meet you, Amy."
"Nice to meet you too, officially," The girl smiles softly. "I'm also your student tour guide! I'll be showing you around this week."
However, that smile drops as soon as she and Brad lay eyes on each other. Jenny glances between the two as they glare at one another. For some reason, she couldn't help but feel that they used to have a past.
"Amelia," He replies as politely as he could.
"Bradley," She greets him curtly and they keep staring each other down for a few seconds. Then he just walks past them as if nothing had happened.
"I gotta go. See you in class, Jenny."
Jenny blinks in confusion, looking towards the girl. "What was that all about?"
"What do you mean?" Amy asks as if she wasn't just hostile to Brad just now.
"That thing with Brad," Jenny points to where he left.
"Oh nothing!" The brunette simply waves it off. "Let's get you everything you need to know about Tremorton High!"
"This is gonna be great! I've been meaning to ask you a few questions," Jenny states as Amy notices the locker in her hand.
"Well...I was gonna give you suggestions to decorate your locker, but it seems like I might have to tell the principal about...this," She smiles awkwardly and Jenny chuckles nervously, looking down at the locker.
"I-I'll just get rid of this," She tosses the locker...and it goes straight through another locker, almost taking out a kid's head. Amy and Jenny both stare at the hole she's made. The two blink and Amy clears her throat.
"...So! How about that tour so you can get to class on time?" Amy says after a few seconds; this was gonna be different than the other times she's given tours...
Jenny looks around in awe as Amy looks at the binder, holding it out to Jenny. "I've got your schedule right here, all the textbooks you'll get, and the shortcuts you can take to get to class on time. I used to be horrible getting to class on time because..." She shakes her head rapidly, Jenny staring at her. "Because nothing! So I got a map of the school and used that to path my ways to get around."
"Don't you need it?" Jenny stares at her and she waves it off.
"Nah, keep it. I've got plenty of authorized copies to give to other students, and I've memorized this school from top to bottom anyway. I was given this job by the vice principal to 'shape me up' after he noticed all my late notes, and it's honestly helped me out this new year."
Amy opens up the library, Jenny opening her mouth in awe. "So this is the library," She says quietly as they go into a hallway to the shelves. Jenny takes a book and opens it up. "You can come here during study hall or during lunch to study or read, but it's a place where you've gotta be quiet, hence why I'm whispering."
Jenny catches up with the girl as she gestures to the shelf in front of her. "Everything you need for specifically English class or history or something else like that is usually found in this place. I come in here almost every day, so if you ever need me, you can find me in here or outside somewhere."
They're about to leave when Amy notices Jenny still reading her book. "Jenny, you can't take that with you, you've gotta usually talk to the librarian first."
"Oh! Sorry," She tosses the book to a shelf and she knocks it down. Amy looks at her with wide eyes as she chuckles, the librarian glaring at them. "Sorry..."
Amy escorts the robot out after assuring the librarian it won't happen again.
She then shows Jenny the field used for school sports. "Here's where we do football and soccer and sometimes gym class, but it's usually held inside. For gym class, it's usually a sport or exercise or running for the period," She tells Jenny, who looks in awe.
"It's huge! Do you do a sport?" She asks Amy curiously, the girl flinching.
"Ah, mm," She smiles nervously. "Nope. Not involved with sports, not my thing."
Jenny blinks at her reaction and Amy gestures for her to follow. "Alright, that's enough of that, let's go visit the rest of the school." Jenny runs after her and then knocks into the scoreboard. It falls down and lands on the field, Amy looking back in alarm. "I-I'm sure that can get fixed, and that you'll adjust fine, Jenny..."
However, both her and Brad are wrong about that as Jenny breaks a desk just sitting in it, punches through a chalkboard, walks through a door, breaks a water fountain, knocks over another bookshelf, and flattens a volleyball in gym when it's thrown at her.
Amy sighs as she walks Jenny down the hall, who's holding her map, but she's a bit lost. They walk past the north office. "Hello?" Jenny calls out. "Is there someone here who can help us?"
"I'll help after I get some water..." Amy walks down the hall to the water fountain. Jenny steps up to the speakers, with a problem bin underneath for students to report by placing in papers. However, because she doesn't know that, she thinks it's a robot made to help with assisting problems.
"Oh, hello, problem droid. Can you help me?" All she gets is static as she stares. "Hello? Problem droid? Hello?"
"Here," Brit just happens to be nearby, holding out the microphone that faculty use to report to the school. "Try talking into this. The...problem droid is a little hard of hearing."
"Thanks, Brit," Jenny smiles at her. "Excuse me, problem droid, can you hear me now?" Brit turns to Tiff, who flicks on the switch that turns on the speaker...in the hallways. "I had some questions about my schedule." Amy flinches as she looks up.
"Oh no!" She scrambles down the hallway to find Jenny.
"First of all, do I have to wear an athletic supporter in every class or just in social studies?" Everyone starts laughing as they hear her. "And if there's no recess, when do we play freeze tag? Which hall is the 'study hall'?" Even people outside in the field could hear her as they laugh. "And I can't find my next class; it's called cafeteria." She hears the last word echoing in the hall.
Amy skids to a stop near her. "Jenny, no, that's the-"
"Ahem!" The vice principal holds out his hand. "My microphone, please."
"Microphone for the morning announcements..." Amy finishes, a hand on her head. Jenny sheepishly gives it back.
"I trust that you're showing her around, Ms. Smith? Any more tricks like that and you'll both be in detention," He narrows his eyes at them. He then opens the door to the cafeteria. "Here is the cafeteria, Miss XJ9. Here is where I want you to spend your lunch hour. What I do not want are any more of your little broadcasts. Are we clear, freshman?"
"Won't happen again, sir..." Amy murmurs as she walks off. "Well, I think that's it for now. Come find me when you're done so I can show you your next class."
"Thanks for all your help, Amy! Wanna have lunch together?" Amy flinches in alarm, people staring at her and blinking. Jenny looks at them in confusion. "What is it? What did I say?"
"Please dedicate your time to literally anything else," The brunette tells the entire building and they go back to what they're doing after a few seconds. She then goes back to Jenny, rubbing her neck. "Ahh...listen, Jenny. Don't take this the wrong way, I think you're cool and all, but after this week, it's probably best we go our separate ways."
"But why?" Jenny wonders, more confused than ever. She feels like she's missing something here...
"Let's just say that when you hear about me, you don't wanna be seen with me," And that's all Amy says before she leaves the robot standing there.
"Chin up, Jenny," Brit speaks up and she turns to the Crust Cousins. "He's nothing more than a glorified hall monitor, and Amy's nothing more than a freak. We thought your broadcast was pure hilarity!"
Jenny clasps her hands together, not realizing that they set her up to embarrass herself. "Does that mean I can sit with you guys?"
"Uh, oh..." Brit glances to the side, Tiff snapping her fingers. All the girls block the seats, turning away from Jenny. "It seems we've just run out of room. But no worries, darling. We'll call you as soon as there's a free seat."
"Oh...okay. I'll wait for your call..." Jenny walks away dejectedly, the two girls laughing at her.
Brad whistles as he's got his lunch, pausing as he sees Jenny sitting alone. She then breaks the chair, just like with the desk earlier... "Hey, Jen," He walks up to his friend. "So, uh, how's your plan for popularity working out?"
"See for yourself," She gestures to her empty table.
"Jenny...you've gotta let people get to know you," He smiles at her. "You know, open up. Let people see what you got going on on the inside."
"Ohh," She puts a finger on her chin. "Open up! I get it!"
Noises are suddenly heard, and everyone inside turns to her, as she's showing every single limb and weapon that she has.
"Whoa..."
"Hey!"
People stop what they're doing to get a look at her, even Brit and Tiff's friends. Jenny smiles at the attention she's getting, unknowingly angering Brit and Tiff. "How dare that sheet metal twit try to steal our spotlight?"
"What if she actually becomes popular?" Tiff looks up at her. "And makes that Amy freak popular by association?"
The vice principal walks by with an angry look and Brit smiles at his appearance, gesturing to him. "This problem may just take care of itself."
"Miss XJ9," Jenny glances down at him. "Could you join us down here on Planet Earth for a moment please?" She shrinks her head down. "Do you realize you could get expelled for bringing weapons to school?"
She beams up at them. "These aren't weapons—although I do have some lasers around here somewhere."
"Vice Principal Rizinksy," Brad chuckles at the man. "Jenny would never activate her lasers during school hours. In fact, she was just about to override her superhero mode," He glances at Jenny, giving her a hint that she should probably turn back to normal before things get worse. She looks at her hand, pressing the button in the middle. Everything reverts back into her body. "There you go!"
"Very well, I'll let it go this time. But this is your final warning, freshman," He narrows his eyes dangerously, the school bell ringing. Brit and Tiff stare, having heard the exchange.
"Final warning? Ooh, one more, and Rizinsky'll expel her for sho'!"
"But who knows how long that will take?" Brit gives a scheming look to her cousin. "I say we give her a gentle nudge over the edge, and take that...thing along with her!" She cackles evilly as she has a plan to get both Amy and Jenny in trouble at the same time.
After lunch is over, everyone is heading for class. Jenny and Brad are walking down the hall, the robot scoping for someone. "Have you seen Amy? I wanna see if she'll hang out with us after school."
"Jenny...she's your student tour guide, so I can't tell you to not talk to her," He starts off, rubbing his neck. "But I really don't think you should be friends with her."
"Are you gonna tell me why?" She places her hands on her hips and he clamps his mouth shut. "I didn't think so. She's a nice person, I don't get why you're so against her."
"It's not—ugh, forget it," He deadpans, hands in his pockets. "Only she can tell you why." Jenny lays eyes on the girl opening her locker and getting her books. She then suddenly gets pushed into her locker by a boy, who laughs and runs off.
"Freak!" He calls out and she grunts, seemingly not fazed as she crawls out, her books falling. She bends down to pick them up.
"Amy! Hi!" Jenny waves and runs up to the girl, bending down to her. "Let me help you."
"Did you need something?" She wonders as Jenny helps her with her fallen stuff.
"Just a friend?" The robot asks hopefully and Amy stands up slowly, dusting herself off and not answering. "Ever since I knew we were neighbors, I've always wanted a girl friend I can hang out with! At least that way, I can wait on other friends like the Crust Cousins."
Amy sighs upon hearing that and drags Jenny with her. She makes sure no one is watching as they go into the janitor's closet. Amy hugs her books as she leans against the door, staring at the eager robot. "Jenny...has no one really told you yet?"
"Told me what?" The robot questions cluelessly. Amy drags a hand down her face.
"Ask me my birth name," She tells Jenny, who just stares at her. "Trust me."
"Okay...what is your birth name?"
"Aaron Willard Smith," The brunette answers without a doubt, confusing the robot. But...how could Amy have a boy's name? She doesn't even look or act like a boy. So why would she have a different name, but is known as Amy now?
"Wait...what?"
"I used to be a boy," Amy tells her plain and simple, her voice quiet. "And I was popular, I was on the football team as a quarterback. Almost everyone looked up to me, too, and I had a lot of friends. But deep down, I knew that I was different. Every night I'd dream about being a girl. I played with dolls instead of action figures. I put on my mom's makeup all the time. I played dress up with my sisters."
"So...what happened, then?" Jenny frowns at her, as she didn't know any of this...it made her feel similar in a way, because she's a robot, but wants to be normal...
"Last year ever since I..." Amy gestures to her body, meaning that she switched genders last year. "You know, I immediately lost most of my friends, and I quit football-well, more so I was asked to leave the team. I only hang out with a few people nowadays. Everyone either calls me a freak, is awkward about the issue, or just ignore me. But I don't care, this is me," She narrows her eyes. "I'm not changing for anyone, this is who I want to be. And a lot of people here aren't as accepting of it, so if you really wanna be popular, lose all contact with me after this week. You'll be seen as my friend otherwise, and then you won't fit in like you want because...people can be cruel about change." She narrows her eyes as she remembers all the bullying she's put up with, and she doesn't want that for Jenny.
Jenny stares at the girl, thinking about it. She could do that...but she wouldn't, because she really wants Amy to be her friend. She's brave, kind, caring, and friendly, and she didn't deserve to be seen as an outcast just because she wants to be different.
"...So when can we hang out, then?!"
Amy blinks in surprise and then smiles at the robot. This was the first time someone had reacted this way after finding out that she was born a male. "Tell you what, I'm open to hanging out at your place this week and we'll see how it goes, okay?"
"Okay!" Jenny exclaims happily as the bell rings and Amy opens the door.
"We've got Chemistry now, talk to you afterwards!" She waves as she runs off, the robot waving after her. She and Amy could be friends now, she was so happy!
"Good afternoon, class. Welcome to Chemistry 101. Let's begin our first experiment, shall we?" The teacher mixes one liquid with another. "First, we'll expose the chemicals to life-giving flame!" He places the beaker on a bunsen burner, adjusting the gear underneath the table. But no flames occur, and all he gets is bubbles. "Uh, that's life-giving flame!" He turns the gear again, but once again, nothing. "Well, students, the bunsen burner is broken, so we'll take a quick essay exam instead."
"Mr. Pigott?" Brit raises a hand, her cousin looking bored.
"Yes, Brittany?" Mr. Pigott adjusts his glasses.
"It seems a terrible shame not to have any chemistry in Chemistry 101. I'm sure Jenny has a cool laser or something to help you heat up your beaker. And if I remember correctly, Amy's parents over there have some scientific background, don't they?"
The two's eyes widen, Amy dropping her pencil as she stares at Brit and Tiff, giving a suspicious look. She was correct on both fronts, but she has no idea where the two are going with this, and she doesn't like it...
"Is that true, Miss XJ9 and Mr—I mean, Ms. Smith?"
"Uh..." Jenny glances at Amy, who looks really annoyed being referred to by a male pronoun. "I suppose."
"Yes, my parents had Chemistry minors in college," Amy crosses her arms, glaring at Brit.
"This laser beam and experience—this is from your home laboratory, and you've been taught some Chemistry?" He rubs his chin.
"Well, sorta," Jenny rubs the side of her head.
"Yes and no, they don't like to bring work home with them, but I've read some of their college books," Amy rubs her neck awkwardly. She doesn't really like to talk about her parents' profession, because it's...very private.
"But you can't maintain a constant 1,200 degrees Kelvin, can you? Or handle delicate work with chemicals?" He questions to the two.
"Who says we can't?"
"No!" Amy whispers to Jenny from the back of the class, waving a hand in front of her neck. The last thing she wants is attention on her...
"Wonderful! Let's get started!" Mr. Pigott exclaims, Amy slamming her face into the desk in disbelief.
"Uhh, okay," Jenny answers after giving the Crust cousins a glance, Brit giving a thumbs up. She stands up and walks off, Amy reluctantly getting up and going to the front of the classroom. Usually she just minds her own business in class and doesn't volunteer because of the looks she's getting right now, and all the whispers. And the teachers, because of that reaction, don't normally ask her to assist with anything...
Jenny presses the button from her left hand, and it turns into a laser. She points it at the beaker, getting it to bubble. The teacher looks impressed, the students talking amongst themselves in awe of her. Amy puts on some goggles and then pours in a purple liquid, and it changes color, intriguing the students even more.
"I thought the plan was to crush them, not make them more popular," Tiff protests to her cousin, gesturing to them.
"Not to worry, those freaks' chances for popularity are about to go up in flames!" She leans in towards Tiff's pierced ear, whispering to her.
"Uh-huh. Mm-mm. Ooh, that's good, girl," She smirks and pulls out a bobby pin from her hair. She takes a rubber band and uses it like a slingshot, aiming for Jenny. She fires it and it gets lodged into her hand, attaching itself to the button. Jenny reacts to it as she shakes, her laser messing up and turning red.
"Jenny?" Amy asks in concern and once the laser hits the beaker, it breaks into pieces. The girl screams, backing away and holding up an arm as some pieces fly past her.
"My beaker!" Mr. Pigott exclaims in shock. Jenny can't stop the laser as it hits all the other beakers...and a light switch, sending electricity to the wires above. "My lab!" The electricity passes the wires above and knocks out all the light bulbs, the sparks catching fire to Mr. Pigott's hair. He screams and waves it off, revealing it to be a wig...and then it catches fire, a huge flame appearing. "My hair!" Everything turns orange and red.
"What happened?" Amy questions Jenny in a panic, who slams her fist onto the laser repeatedly. The hair pin gets away from the button, turning her hand back to normal, but it's still in there. She looks up as the fire alarm rings, the door on fire. She looks down and grabs the teacher's table, throwing it to a wall hard. The students run out the hole she makes, screaming. Brad runs up to her and Amy, carrying the teacher over his shoulder.
"I'll take care of the class. Amy, you know the school inside and out, right?"
"Yes!" She nods at him with narrowed eyes.
"Good, then you two clear out the rest of the school!" He tells them, running out.
"Split up, we'll be able to get them out faster!" Amy informs Jenny, who uses her rockets to fly off the ground.
"Got it, and be careful, Amy."
"You too," The brunette salutes to her, running off. The flames reach the hallway, engulfing the lockers. A group of students panic as they huddle, the fire surrounding them. Jenny uses a plow to gather the students from the halls and stairs, the flames going up the stairs. Meanwhile, Amy is pushing doors open to make sure no one's inside, ushering people out as she finds them scared for their life.
"Go, go, go! Out the emergency exit!" She points to the exit door down the hall and they rush out.
Tiff and Brit are still in science class, watching the lab burn. The shorter Crust cackles at the chaos. "Not only will those freakish social climbers be expelled, but we'll get out of Chemistry class forever!" They both cackle at their plan seemingly working...and then they flinch as they see the flames increasing, and they unfortunately block the only way out from the lab. They look down at the ground and then at themselves, crashing.
Jenny holds up a ball of gathered students, landing in the field. Amy kicks open the emergency exit, people rushing out past her. She runs over to Jenny, who smiles.
"I think that's everybody," She reports to Brad and Amy. "What about your end, Amy?"
She looks around the field, doing a quick run-down of all the students. "I wouldn't celebrate just yet, we're missing two people."
"Hey, excuse me!" Tiff calls out and they hear the Crust Cousins shouting from the fiery lab. "People in here are freaking out!"
"Help us!"
"Somebody, help!"
Jenny slams down a ladder between them from the ceiling. "Come on, climb up!"
Amy joins her side, arms crossed. "Come on, girls, you don't have all day!"
They glance to each other and Tiff pushes away her cousin, taking the lead. Brit grabs her by one of her pigtails and tries to go first, but Tiff knocks her away. She continues climbing and Brit pulls her down, both of them climbing.
"Hurry!" Jenny urges them, and the two climb over not only Jenny, but Amy as well, knocking both of them into the lab. "You guys okay?" She hollers to the two, but they don't respond as they scream, running out the hole. "You're welcome!"
"Uhh, I don't think that's our biggest problem right now," Amy states nervously as she points up ahead, and Jenny sees the boiler increasing, about to implode.
"That can't be good."
"That's because it's not, MOVE!" Amy urges her and Jenny makes the ladder for her. She quickly climbs up and gets to the top. She reaches out her hand and grabs a rung, trying to pull up the robot as she's climbing next. "Come...on!"
The Crust Cousins pant as they make it to the field, Brad grabbing Tiff's hand. "Tiff, Tiff! What happened in there?" He shakes the girl, to her discomfort. "Where are Jenny and Amy? Did you s-"
"Step off, fool!" She backs away from him. "They're right behind u-" Amy jumps out the hole and lands on the grass roughly while at the same time, Jenny flies into the sky with the boiler. "Has she blown a circuit?! Dat boiler's 'bout to explode!"
"JENNY!" Brad shouts, holding out a hand. Amy runs onto the field, looking up at Jenny as she gets further away. As soon as she couldn't be seen anymore, there's a huge explosion, Brad and Amy bracing themselves. Parts of the boiler fall onto the grass...and so does Jenny's arm. "Oh, no." Brad kneels in front of the hand, Amy closing her eyes sadly. She had known what Jenny was doing before she got out...she sacrificed herself to save the school and them. "She was so young...She was going to do great things!" He holds the arm in his hands. "She was going to transform into our Homecoming float!"
He starts crying and Amy sheds a tear herself. Suddenly the hand comes to life, poking Brad's cheek and pointing up ahead. Jenny's revealed to be okay, aside from losing an arm. "Jenny!" Brad and Amy exclaim, running up to her.
"You did it! You saved the school!" Brad adds in. "And you did a great job too, Amy. You guys are heroes!"
The two smile at him and share a three-way high five (well, Brad did it with Jenny's arm, but it still counts).
"There they are!" They look towards the side to see Vice Principal Rizinsky approaching with the fire department. "Those girls are the little pranksters who started the fire!"
"But it's not Jenny's fault, and it wasn't Amy's either!" Brad defends them, Amy blinking in shock of his action. "They saved us all." Jenny places back in her arm.
"I can't explain it," Jenny frowns sadly. "My safety override just went haywire."
"Wait a minute, that was right around the time you were helping out Mr. Pigott, but it's too convenient for you to have done it on your own accord," Amy points out, rubbing her chin. "Something must've went wrong with your override."
"Don't worry, Miss XJ9 and Ms. Smith, we'll find an explanation...downtown." Amy opens her mouth in disbelief as the two firefighters approach them. She couldn't get arrested, it's too risky! Tiff hisses as she stands in front of the duo, her cousin joining her.
"Hold it right there, coppers! You'll not touch one r-r-rivet or hair on their heads!" Brit speaks up, the brunette shocked again for the second time in a minute. "These girls saved our lives. They're heroes, heroes!" Brit grabs their hands, shaking them. "From now on, you're hanging with us." However, the hairpin could be heard and Amy gently snatches her hand back.
"Hang on one second. Jenny, your hand doesn't usually sound like that."
"You're right, it doesn't," The robot gives a look of confusion. She bangs her hand against the other, producing the hairpin. Tiff gasps sharply at it. "Hey, this must be what caused my malfunction!"
"And as a result, the fire!" Amy glares at Tiff, fists clenched. She knew they were low, but to frame them for arson towards the both of them is just cruel.
"Well, well, what have we here?" Rizinsky takes the pin from Jenny. "Now, where have I seen one of these before?" He turns right to Tiff, holding up the pin to another one in her hair. "So here are my little firebugs."
The cops grab their hands, dragging them away. "That titanium twerp and that...that he-she! We should've known they'd rat us out," Brit glares at them.
"From now on, those freaks are public enemies number one," Tiff declares angrily.
"Bye, guys!" Jenny waves to them. "Ring me when you make bail! I'll wait for your call!" She smiles, clasping her hands as Brad approaches the duo.
"Wow, some first day, huh?" A student is consoling the sobbing Mr. Pigott while the fire department is dousing the fire. "Don't worry. It can't possibly get any worse."
"What do you mean?" Jenny frowns a bit. "It was awesome! You were right. All I had to do was be myself. Now I'm in with the 'in' crowd. I can't wait for the rest of the year!" Suddenly the entire school falls apart behind her and Amy gives a wide-eyed look towards the building.
"This year is gonna be something, alright," She murmurs as she's now got a teenage robot for a friend.
"Amy, can we hang out tomorrow?!" Jenny clasps their hands happily and the girl smiles.
"Sure, Jenny."
"Wait a second-!" Brad clamps his mouth shut and holds up his hands in defense, laughing sheepishly as they're glaring at him. "N-Never mind." He'll accept their friendship for now for Jenny's sake...Amy might've saved the school, but things are still weird between her and Brad.
