"I'm sorry you have to wait for the summer, Saji. There is so much that is going on right now that I can not take another piece." Sona said to a blonde second-year. Smiling, she handed the boy a student council armband. "But if you want you can start on your duties as a member of our student council..." hearing a knock coming from the door she paused, she was able to recognize who it was almost right away. "You know that you two don't have to knock, you are a part of the student council."
The disguised Raynare was the first to enter, sling and bandaged arm and all. "I don't remember joining your little gang of misfits." Saji looked surprised at the beauty that was sporting the injuries which in turn had been ignored by the girl.
The person behind her noticed the staring, the blonde boy flinched as his eyes landed on Issei who was the person behind Raynare. Looking at Issei was a mixed bag, and he figured that Issei was too dangerous to anger and decided to look away. When he felt Sona's gaze on him as the girl responded, looking away mid-speech. "That's where you are wrong, mister popular over there has received an invite to join the Disciplinary Committee from the vice president Sano Aika." She paused, getting looks of recognition from the pair. "Apparently you both were, with the support of a member from the middle school course, that you are very familiar with Hyoudou." Hyoudou, a name that Saji was aware of, but the question was from where. "You got yourself a little fan club forming, honestly I am jealous."
"It's not that I really care." Issei said dismissively.
Raynare snorted, positioning herself at Issei's side, grinning. "Why not enjoy it Issei, not everyone can even dream about being in your position." With that said the final piece clicked in Saji's mind, Hyoudou Issei the infamous pervert from Class 2F, a familiar name among the girls in his class all except one. Hanakai Momo had started defending him whenever he became a topic of conversation two weeks ago. He eyed the boy again trying to get a read on him, and yet again another mixed bag. It was frustrating, but there was one thing that he was able to read from the other boy. He sensed an overwhelming feeling of authority coming from Issei like he was somehow below his peers as black and white flames radiated from Issei.
"She is right you know Hyoudou, the dragon emperors have always been feared or celebrated from the very beginning, why not, I am sure you will need as many allies as you can get." She at her desk pulled out two armbands. "Especially with what happened two weeks ago, you never know what you might run into charging head first like that. This should be an interesting experience for you, being under an enemy's watchful eye."
"Enemy?"
Raynare snorted before correcting the assumption. "She means the white one Issei. It seems that your…" She paused for dramatic effect. "Secret lover never spilled your little arrangement." Raynare said with a sly smile and a down-turned look.
Sona gave Issei a weird look through an unreadable expression before Issei took the opportunity to speak. "You… You know that was never about anything other than the deal. The deal was so she would not interfere with our business or become an enemy of ours later on." Issei said blankly.
Saji looked over to Raynare who looked put out at the lack of a reaction with a pout that he found cute. Noticing the pair of eyes on her she smiled at him, something about it was warm and welcoming, and the thought of seeing it made the boy develop a light blush. Raynare brought back her attention at hand. Sona noticed as well but decided to leave that can for another day, hopefully, whatever this situation is will resolve itself before she has to step in. "So, are going to explain yourself, no matter how temporary it is, you are my pawn and therefore my responsibility. I need to know about this stuff, Issei. I am going to have to talk to Aika as well, but for now." She paused to look at Issei. "What exactly is this deal?"
"Well..." He began, rubbing the back of his neck. "Assuming she wants the same thing, we are going to deal with two ancient dragons. Possibly... Fighting one of them." he finished the half explanation without giving any major details. Saji did not know what to make of this information, deciding to stay silent.
Sona took a moment to think the statement over, raising her hand she asked one thing. "Dragon emperor or Dragonslayer business?"
"Does it matter?"
"What Issei meant to say was that his business with the white one is in some ways the same for both." Raynare expanded on Issei's response, turning to Issei as she continued. "But are sure about all of this, can you trust that she will have your best interest in hand? She did sell information on Yamamoto despite knowing about the relationship you both share."
"Listen Yuu, I know what she is after, and believe me she could use both of us. There is a lot more to what she is asking than Sano believes to be true."
"More of this foresight of yours Issei. After last month I wouldn't rely on it, there are things that you don't know." Raynare spoke to Issei softly. Her reply was Issei looking at her with an expression that she could not get a read on. "Well, whatever the case might be. I never go back on my word." She turns back to Sona to address her again. "So there you have it, what are you going to do, Sitri? It's not as if you or your people are going to get out of this as clean as you entered."
"I was well prepared for that outcome, I have made arrangements." She looked at Saji. "Do you mind leaving?"
He wasn't sure he should at least that was the feeling he got from the other two. The fact that she would be alone with them, especially Issei made him not want to, but this was a private conversation between them and he would be in the way he stared at the armband, the same one he shared with Issei before putting it on. 'What did I get myself into.' He nodded to Sona and then moved to exit. Before he could make it to the door Issei stopped him with a hand on his shoulder, to the surprise of Saji.
Issei spoke softly to the confused boy. "Can you do me the favor of telling Uehara that we have been called in to work and to wait for me after school." The message left Saji even more perplexed.
"I don't even, who is Uehara? I don't know an Uehara."
"Dude, just do it, you will understand later. So just trust me and relay the message." Issei replied, taking his hand off of him.
Saji looked at Issei strangely, before deciding that it was best just to do what he said. The confusion at least some of it in the request did not last as soon as the door closed he heard two girls in mid-conversation headed his way. One of which was his white-haired classmate and the other was a figure with doll-like features and long blonde hair. 'What's with this school?' thought as he examined the pair. His eyes turn to his classmate Hanakai Momo as she notices him. "Yo, Hanakai what's up?"
Momo noticing him leave the office with the 'Deputy' armband in tow put a smile on her face, with her companion bringing up the rear. "Ah, Saji-kun I see that you have finally decided to join us."
"Barely, I just had a meeting with the Prez and it's not official yet but yeah I am going to be one of you guys soon." He said with a nervous chuckle before the look of confusion returned. "Hey Hanakai, what's with Hyoudou? He seemed really familiar with Shitori-senpai. She was talking as if... How should I say this, like the way they talk to each other was odd. It was totally different from the way she spoke to the others. And there was that announcement that was made several weeks ago."
"Issei-san was here?" The ears of Momo's blonde companion perked up. "Is he still here?" For the first time since Saji ran into the two did the blonde show any interest.
Saji looked at Momo with a quizzical eye. "Oh right, Saji Genshirou meet Uehara Kyou, Kyou this is Saji. He is a member of my class and he looks like he's a member of our peerage. And Saji-kun, this is Kyou, we share the role of 'treasurer' and she is in the same class as well as being close with Hyoudou-san." She moved her arm between the two as if to present them to each other. "And to answer your question Hyoudou-san is with us temporarily, I don't know what I can say but he was traded to Sona by her best friend for the foreseeable future."
"Right... Ah." As if making a revelation Genshirou turned his attention to the former angel. "Your Uehara!" Mittelt looked at him with a raised eyebrow, explaining further he opened his mouth again. "Hyoudou wanted to relay a message for you."
Mittelt looked at him intently waiting a few seconds but when Genshirou did not say anything else she pressed him on the topic. "And that message is?"
"Oh right... He said that you both were called into work and to wait for him afte-."
"Is that it?" She asked with mild annoyance, cutting him off.
Genshirou was taken aback by the tone, she appeared to be expecting something else out of him. "That's all he said... Is there something else?"
"No..." Pausing to pull out a smartphone encased in a shell white case with an eastern-style red dragon on its back. "Honestly he could have said so himself." She finishes finding Issei in her contacts and calls him disappointment clear on her face.
After a few rings Issei picked up, all the while the others watched as events proceeded. 'Hello?... Mittelt what's up?'
She made sure of his side of the conversation by creating a magic circle on the phone. "Using that name means I can trust our conversation is in good company."
'Yeah... You can say that.'
"Whatever the case may be, why send the messenger, I am sure there was time before the end of school that we could have met, Issei-saaaaan." The two listening to her said to give her a look before looking away.
'What was that.' Genshirou thought, looking at the now nervous girl. A complete attitude shift from what she was like before she made her call.
Momo however sighed. 'She really needs to work on that.'
Not that anyone else could hear him he let out a chuckle over the phone. 'I guess you are not used to it then. It's fine you can call me whatever you want. I don't really care.'
"It's not... I can do it... It's just that..."
Now she wasn't completing her sentences and her body was tense, and it painted a picture that was... If the two involved saw it incorrect for the dazed Genshirou. 'That's why he needed a messenger.' He looked at the door to the council office in mid-thought. 'For someone who is a rumored pervert, you sure are lucky with girls. And I am going to be around you often, maybe that luck might rub off on me.'
'Something is holding you back? You can take your time, you know. We are purely reactional at the moment. From what we know, that is.'
"But..." Mittelt Bit her lip remembering how Issei treated her since the first meeting, the warmth of his hand, and... 'Don't remember that dammit, it would be bad if onee-sama finds out.' She successfully rerouted the thought process. "Can we not talk over the phone?"
'Sure are you free right now?'
Mittelt was confused; she looked at the phone as if it held the answers before responding. "Yes?"
'I will be right there.' Before she could answer Issei's frame entered her field of vision, in a bit of cold wind he and Raynare appeared out of what could be considered static. It had been a full week since she had seen them both and it was comfortable to say that she had missed them both.
Mittelt was not the first to react, but Momo looked at the pair incredulously. A two-week absence without a word from Issei rubbed her the wrong way if it wasn't for Akeno's insistence that the boy was fine, not that she was aware of how she was able to get in touch with him when no one else was, but that was a question to ask her later. Back to the task at hand, Momo was the first to react. "How? Hyoudou-san how did you do that I sensed no magic."
"Are you sure you want to know?" Raynare appeared from behind Issei with a sly grin under pale blue eyes. "Not many people are privy to that information, and even fewer survive to share it. But as a thank you for choosing to help Issei in my worst moment." She said, pinching Issei's ear. "It's a sacred gear gifted to me by my Issei." Punctuating the statement by intertwining their arms, smiling up at him, but unbeknownst to everyone there Mittelt let out a small yelp.
Genshirou and Momo looked at each other in mild confusion, Genshirou was the first to comment. "Wait. Didn't you say that Sano-san was dating him?"
"Wait, Sano? As in Sano Aika-san?" Momo questioned. "What happened between you and Akeno-senpai?" The two outsiders look at each other trying to make sense of the situation.
"You are the one who caused this, mind explaining."
Raynare looked between him and Genshirou before getting what he was hinting at. "Ah, that was a joke." She looked at the pair. "Aika's and Issei's relationship is purely platonic, she needs him for something so them being a 'couple' was something beneficial to both." She eyed Momo. "you know what they are right?" Getting a nod she continued. "Then you know that them being on the same page is much better than being at each other's throats."
"If that is the case..." Momo paused. "Why am I just hearing this now? And what about Akeno-senpai? Your uncle seemed to think that you two were 'close'."
Issei raised an eyebrow. "You have met my uncle?" Issei asked in a surprised tone. "You mean he is in Kuoh?"
"Yeah?..." the girl confirmed. "He had asked Akeno-senpai some questions."
'Oh, crap.' He barely had memories of the man but as the head of the pendragon family, but from what he remembered from how his mother and her brother acted the last time he was here then... 'I got to see if Irina-chan can get in contact with Le Fay, the two of them had to get ahead of this.' He thought, running a scenario of the reunion in his mind. He hopes that Le Fay would be receptive considering that they are cousins this time around and there is no awkwardness in their first meeting. "I'm sorry Hanakai-san, as much as I would like to answer, I have to run." Issei, not waiting for her answer, looked at Mittelt and then at Raynare who looked back at him confused. "Yuu, I need to talk to Irina, it's important, Kyou you coming?" Getting a nod Issei turned his attention to Raynare. "We will be in your care Yuu."
Raynare looked at Issei's smile and sighed, extending her hand out for Issei who in turn held Mittelt close as he took the hand in his. "If I knew that I was going to be a glorified taxi service I would have just given Mei my sacred gear." She spoke dismissively under the pale blue glow of her eyes. "She should have gone far." She paused for a second and moved her as if looking for something or someone. Her eyes lit up even more as if she found what she was looking for and before the other two were made aware, she and her two charges were covered in static before disappearing.
(...)
Makoto naked and alone found herself in the alley near Aika's and now Mittelt and Issei's work. She was not worried about her state of dress as she thought about Issei following his scent, just moments ago she had stumbled in on a battle between him and six other devils if their scents were anything to go by. Being obviously concerned she moved to help him, transforming into her wolf form, but her help was not needed as a blonde girl who looked younger than they appeared from Issei's necklace when he dodged a kick from a woman in a leather jacket and a face mask that only covered the right side of her face. She waited as the battle began but as Issei ran off on his own she felt the need to follow him crossing paths with the girl who made the sudden appearance. "What I'm I going to do." She felt the warmth of the asphalt underneath her disrobed bottom sitting behind the dumpster obscuring her from any wandering eye that might happen to see her, the naked teen with wolf ears and fangs. "I can't just go to Isi like this, but I need his help. What do I do? He doesn't even know that I am a werewolf."
"I don't know, maybe you should ask him, you never know. Maybe he would be more than willing to help, but what do I know."
Makoto's eyes shot wide in surprise, standing next to the dumpster with a devilish grin. "I-I-Isse- '' His name came out in a sound of shock. The boy was next to her in a vest and tie, the sleeves of his white shirt were rolled up, and his brown locks slicked back.
"Hey, Makoto." He looked her up and down, seemingly not affected by her current state. "First thing first, we need to do something about that." He said pointing at her naked form.
"I-I-I I'm sorry." Makoto said, moving to stand up while covering her naughty bits. Issei reduced the distance offering her a hand. What they both did not expect however was Makoto clinging to Issei's chest. Makoto with the fabric of his vest in her clawed hands sob uncontrollably through her fangs.
Issei did not know what to do in this situation, this was the last thing he expected from his stoic classmate. She had said something about needing help from him so he had to start there. A magic circle appeared underneath them, and to the outside observer, their presence was erased not that anyone was paying them any mind. Bring a hand to pet the girl's head, and wolf ears, and all he got her attention. "Want to go somewhere where we can talk alone?" Waiting for her to calm down some before asking.
Makoto took some time but after several minutes she calmed down to acknowledge his presence, and with a bright red face she nodded. "But what about me?" Makoto pointed at herself. "I don't want people to think ill of you... Being seen as a pervert." Looking down, her ears drooped in the process. "You get enough of that at school."
"Do you trust me?"
The question took the teen by surprise, looking at her friend who was looking away scratching his cheek and chuckling nervously. "I-I-If I didn't I wouldn't have let you anywhere near me right now, you are... You are someone very special to me." As soon as the words left her mouth her already rosy cheeks grew darker in color. 'Why did she have to come back now.' her thoughts were squarely on her best friend as she covered her face with her hands crouching down.
Looking up to survey the damage to the image she had been presenting him there was nothing that he commented on, at least not verbally. 'Well that's new, it's like I am talking to Mei. I guess because they're so close they act so much alike.' he thought. Bringing his hand up it was consumed by a black flame. "I'm glad, as you can see I can use magic, and with that, I can hide you from everyone else. You just need to stay close."
With that explanation, Makoto clung to Issei's arm with some preparation. "Where are we going?" She asked when they began walking.
"My part-time job, there is a changing room we can use." Makoto stiffed at that, Issei sensing this explained further. "I am pretty much the only guy, and since we are currently in between a shift right now no one is going to disturb us." Makoto nodded, staying silent during the rest of the two-minute walk tensing up when someone got too close to them, Issei giving whoever does the best 'Don't fuck with me face' he could manage. Arriving at the maid café where Aika worked he opened the door getting the attention of a red-haired maid, she looked at Issei and then at the naked Makoto, taking a great interest in the animal ears on the other girl's head, Makoto clinging to Issei forced her not to say anything.
The redhead made eye contact with Issei's eyes and mouthed. 'You going to explain this Ise?.' She was not happy.
'Later, Sumire.' Issei mouthed back. The maid moved out of the two's way with a frown.
"Did something happen between you two?" Another maid walked up to the redhead.
