Part 5 : To My Dearest Sister
Just like always since he got here the alarm clock was ringing at 7:30 but this day Shinji's mind returned to the living world as at 6:50 he woke up as he noticed a figure standing over his bed . At first he wanted to grab his gun and shoot the brains out of it . But then his mind calmed down as he noticed that the figure was Rei Ayanami . His sister was sleeping in his and Misato's apartment after Shinji saw the state of Rei's apartement .
"Hello brother"-Rei said as Shinji just put the bedsheets on his head
"Rei , it's 6:50 . School starts at 9:00"-Shinji said before he remembered what he found yesterday on Rei's desk .
"You didn't take those pills right ?"-Shinji asked as took the bedsheets off his face and looked at Rei's crimson eyes
"No , I won't take them until I will do research on their effects"- Rei said as Shinji got off his bed .
"Well then , wait for me in the kitchen . I'll make breakfast"-Shinji said as Rei went out of his room . Shinji dressed up in his school uniform and finally started making breakfast . After he and Rei finished breakfast they made their way to the parking lot . That in reality was a place to dump garbage but since no one except for them lived here Shinji used it as his ,,Workshop" since he was leaving there his tools . After he and Rei got on his bike they made their way to school . The trip was mostly silent as Rei mostly focused on holding on to Shinji . After they reached the school building they had around 40 minutes for themselves . So they sat on a bench . Rei was reading a book and Shinji was checking something on his phone . Some time passed before Rei broke down the silence .
"Brother ?"-Rei asked as Shinji put his phone away and looked at his sister .
"Yes ?"-Shinji asked as his face showed a curious facial expression 'She never started a conversation before'
"Why do you hate drugs ?"-Rei asked as Shinji started thinking why did he even hate them ?
"Because I don't want to run away from my problems to pills , and you are too good for them"-Shinji said as Rei looked at his jacket and for the first time Shinji saw her other facial expression then poker or in pain . It was a mix of curiousness and doubt
"But you have a pill on your jacket"- Rei said as Shinji looked at his back
"This is my gang insygnia , in Neogoya i was one of the founders of a motorcycle gang ,,The Capsules" . Since most of the rank and file members were pill-poppers we chose that name . I never took anything except for an Adderall pill a year ago. I am a punk-for-life Rei" - Shinji finished his monologue as Rei kept looking at him with her Red orbs being more fascinated with every minute . Shinji spent a lot of time with Pill-poppers . Kaneda Tetsuo Yamagata and Kaisuke never were the real junkies . But since he visited many people that were drug addicts he knew when the drugs were stopping to work . And Shinji was happy to see that on his sister's face . Rei on the other hand was feeling new emotions as the world was gaining more colors . But those feelings came tumbling down as a massive headache hit her head . Rei grabbed her head as Shinji got closer to her to check if everything was ok .
"Rei !"- Shinji said as his worst feelings came to fruition 'side effects'-he thought as he ran to the nearest vending machine to get her some water . After a few minutes her head calmed down and they made their way to the school building . First few lessons came and went without trouble . It was somewhere after the afternoon break that Rei's sickness finally returned . Shinji was sitting at his desk looking at 4chan since the lesson was useless like always . It's just Second Impact killed millions and how my life sucked beceuse of it. His test results still were between 95 and 100 , he became one of the best students in class with absolutely zero effort . While he was looking at the memes he noticed that Rei was putting her hands on her head . Shinji knew that it was something he called ,,post-drug hangover" . He got off his desk to help Rei .
"I'm taking Rei to the nurse"-Shinji said before he left the class. After a few minutes Rei finally left the nurse's office with an exemption from the rest of the lessons. Since it was the lunch break Shinji knew what to do when he saw Rei putting her books in her locker 'i got time'- he thought as he grabbed her hand and rushed out of the school onto the parking lot .
"Where are we going brother ?"-Rei asked Shinji as he was putting on his SDAT earbuds .
"I'm taking you back home"-Shinji said as Rei looked upon him
"Home ?"
"To our apartment dummy !"-Shinji said as they got on his bike as the track #10 of the Megamix #1 started playing

Shinji speeded off from the school building as they rode through the city as their average speed was between 150-170 km/h . As Shinji finally got Rei back home he noticed the hour on his phone
'20 minutes , i got time'-Shinji thought as track #11 started playing

Shinji was observing the road as he was passing every car on the road as his mind was 100% focused on getting to school on time . Shinji finally got to the school parking lot. He ran straight to the classroom as he got in just before the bell . The lesson came and went as Shinji's mind was only focused on one thing ,What am I supposed to do with you Rei ?'-Shinji thought as a lightbulb lighted up in his head 'But i think i know someone who can tell me what to do' - Shinji thought as the bell he took his laptop and headed straight towards the rooftop . After he reached the rooftop he opened his laptop and booted up Skype . After a few seconds he finally maked the call .
'i just hope he will pick it up'-Shinji thought as he saw a familiar face on the screen
"Hey Shin ! it's nice to see your face after month and a half !"-Kaneda said as Shinji could immediately notice that Kaneda was sitting in the broken up classroom of his old school . Since Kaneda and the rest didn't care for their education and teachers were too tired to deal with teenage criminals they didn't care for most of the time .
"Hey Kaneda"-Shinji said as he could hear a muffled voice that said 'You're talking to Shin ?!'. Then Tetsuo ran into the camera angle . Shinji couldn't hide a smile as he noticed his best friends for the first time in 1.5 months .
"Shinji ?! Where did you get a giant robot ? We knew that since day one but now the whole Neogoya noticed your star on the shoulder of that thing !"-Tetsuo screamed as a muffled "Shut up!" . Shinji explained how he got here and how he got in the Eva . That he met Aimi again. And that he also had a half-sister from his mother's side that was drugged for some time . To say that the duo was shocked would be an understatement
"Sister ? And you never mentioned her ?!-Tetsuo screamed as some others in the class were listening .
"I never knew she ever existed Tetsuo !"-Shinji screamed as Tetsuo was ready to scream Kaneda put his hand on his mouth
"And you call us for ? It wouldn't be just to tell the news right ?"-Kaneda said as Shinji knew what to ask for
"Yeah , what would you do if you were in my situation ?"- Shinji asked them as their facial expressions showed helplessness and confusion .
"Sorry Shin , we don't have younger sisters "-Tetsuo said as he could hear Kaisuke off camera "Shinji has a sister ? Is she single ?" and after that he could hear a smack in the face .
"I also can't advise anything . I'm a father not a brother . I only see Kio once a week. I would suggest calling Aimi or doing what you simply do best , improvise "- Kaneda said as he could hear Kaneda's former girlfriend asking him again about child support for this month . After that they talk about how things are back home , how the motorcycles are running , is the gang intact etc.
"Well lesson starts i need to go "-Shinji said
"Well go back to study you nerd , just call us more than once a month "-Kaneda said as Shinji closed the laptop and made his way back to the classroom . The rest of the lessons came and went as Shinji finally left the school building and before he made his way home he finally called Aimi .
"SHINJI !"-Aimi screamed as Shinji put the phone off his ear as the decibels coming from Aimi's voice were probably bigger than the sound of the F-14 Tomcat .
"Hey Aimi"-Shinji said as it was nice to hear someone that knows the most about him in this city . And that he could consider as a second sister
"So why do you call ?"-Aimi asked as Shinji explained the whole situation about Rei .
"Well , just talk to her . Since you started a decent relationship, a good talk would be great . And now that you took her off drugs it will be a necessity to help her experience the world without them"-Aimi said as Shinji just stunned listening to a 9-year old that was talking like a professional psychologist.
"Thanks Aimi , you really are a lifesaver here . You will become a great psychologist one day"-Shinji said as he could feel Aimi's proud rise from the other side of the phone
"Thank you , and our three will be able to get Ice cream !"-Aimi said as Shinji could hear her 9-year old self returning as he put down the phone and got on his bike. After he parked his bike in his ,,Docking Bay" he made his way to the apartment
"Todaima"-Shinji said as he entered the apartment and noticed Misato and Rei sitting on the Kitchen table . Misato was dressed up in her normal NERV get up and Rei was still sitting in her school uniform .
"Welcome home"-Misato said as she looked upon Shinji
"Hey Misato , any news on Rei ?" - Shinji asked as Misato shot him a smile
"Sub Commander accepted the proposition , Rei will be living with us from now on"-Misato said as Shinji sighed with a relief
"Rokubungi ?"-Shinji asked
"Since Sub-Commander Fuyutsuki's decisions are final when Commander Ikari is not around this decision is also final"-Misato said as she got off the chair
"Well I'm off to NERV now , I'll grab a take out . Good night my roomies"-Misato said as she left the apartment . Shinji prepared dinner for him and Rei . After they finished eating, Shinji saw that Rei again grabbed her head and puked on her uniform .
"Oh my , I'll clean up . I'll get some medication for you . Can you go to the shower ?"-Shinji said as Rei nodded and did what Shinji had asked her . After Shinji cleaned the table up and Gave the medication to Rei , she went to the shower . After she got out Shinji noticed that she was completely naked.
"You should have something to wear ?"-Shinji said as a curious facial expression formed on Rei's face
"Why?"-Rei asked as Shinji made up a quick excuse
"So you wont get a cold"- Shinji said as he was hoping that Rei will catch the hook
"Wait here , i'll get you something "-Shinji said before he left for his room . After he returned he brought her a Valentino Rossi T-Shirt
"Here you have it , I know it's too big but it will work as a Pyjamas , you should now rest so let's get you to bed ok ?" -Shinji said as blushed Rei putted on the T-shirt
"Thank you"-Rei said 'Commander Ikari never gave me something like that . Does this mean that my brother cares for me more ? Even if I'm expandable , does he love me ?'- Rei thought as Shinji got her to bed .
"I know that it's too early for bed , so we can spend some time here "-Shinji said as Rei was looking at him
"We ?"
"Yes , I want you to know more about me . Since you're my sister I believe you are trustworthy "- Shinji explained to her .
"Ok"-Rei said as for the next 6 hours Shinji was telling her stories about Neogoya ,about Kaneda Tetsuo and the foundation of The Capsules , about his shady side , about the adventures he had over the years , and about Takuro . After those six hours Shinji finally noticed the hour
"Well it's almost midnight , goodnight Rei"-Shinji said as he kissed Rei on the forehead
"Goodnight brother"-Rei said as she showed something that Shinji never expected to see today . a Rei Ayanami smile
A/N: Yep , this chapter was mostly about those two . Since this arc will be mostly focused on Shinji's relationship with Rei . So next few chapters will revolve around that as Shinji and Gendo's relationship will start to heat up
